Y’all this has not been my morning

It’s my day off of work, and I was so excited to sleep in, but life had other plans I guess.

So, I was having a cool dream right? I was into it, and I was interested to see where the plot would take me, when—out of the blue—this random ominous voice goes “w a k e u p”

And so I did.

And I hear this strange buzzing. It was so weird, it sounded like it was right by my ear. And then my hair twitched, and I realized:

Oh. It is right by my ear.

So like any normal person I shot up and began violently shaking my head.

I swatted at my hair to see if I could free whatever bug was currently still stuck in it. And after a few moments, I could hear buzzing, but it wasn’t near my head anymore (thank goodness) so I deemed it safe to turn on my lamp and check out whatever that thing was.

And, there on the floor, I saw what looked like a freaking bee.

I was a bit too frazzled and too tired to think about killing it, so I just left my room and tried to lure it out with the light of the kitchen (but I didn’t realize that light attracts moths and not bees, but again: frazzled and tired)

That’s when I finally checked the time and discovered that it was 5am 😀

So, I left the bee alone (it had crawled up into my nightstand), and just sat down on the living room couch with my phone. And then I fell asleep for two hours (thank goodness) and woke up and had a lengthy call with my mom about the situation and life in general, and once my phone hit twenty percent, I finally decided to try and brave my room again. When I checked for the bee, I assumed it’d be with the cords and books in my nightstand like it had been previously, but I couldn’t exactly find it. I finally decided that if the bee was just gonna be near the floor, I could be on the bed.

After a while, I forgot that the whole reason I was there was to plug in my phone, so I reached across my bed for the charger…

…and I felt a poke in my side.

I pulled away and rubbed at my skin, assuming it was just a stray feather from my comforter, but then it dawned on me that uh nope that was probably the bee wasn’t it

I looked down at the puffy comforter, and hidden between two folds, lo and behold there it was.

For a sec I was like “ARE YOU KIDDING ME” and then I was like “oh noooo did my act of carelessness just sentence you to death little bee?? 🥺🥺🥺” and then I was like “oh shit wait am I gonna go into anaphylactic shock cuz of this?”

And finally I was like “daddddd helpppppp”

So he came in and got rid of it and I learned that a) I’d be fine, there was only a lil swelling cuz I have great reflexes 💪 and b) the little bee I was so worried about was actually a HORNET so that could’ve been a lot worse.

So uh yay I have so far acquired a sting from a scorpion, a honeybee, and a hornet 👍

(I won’t go into all the ant bites 🙃)

Now I’m gonna try not to go insane over how that hornet got onto my bed (I’m pretty sure I broke one of its wings), how it got into my room in the first place, and how a voice from my freaking dream woke me up.

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:

1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.

2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.

3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.

4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.
