Rest? Adam hadn’t rested in what could have been years — the concept was almost foreign to him now after being too afraid to close his eyes. Subconsciously, the human made himself as small as possible as curled in onto himself, staring warily at the angel who had rescued him from the horror that was the Cage.
Taking in the appearance of the other being, Adam bit down on his lower lip and and quickly adverted his eyes, struggling to remain calm as he glanced all around himself. Although more than relieved to be free, the change in both surroundings and atmosphere were overwhelming to him, making him feel more fatigued and more panicked.
“I’m not the only one,” he managed to utter before falling silent again.
She took slow and steady breaths, trying to regain her strength even though she knew it would take more than that. The angel laughed, short and breathy, at the man’s comment. The smile remain as she stood once more. Slowly, she held her hand out.
“We’re both tired and in need of rest. Let me help you.” She said softly, looking up at him, taking note of his expression. “My name is Anna. I can keep you safe.”

No one can find him. What makes you think I can?”

Well, that was a familiar name. Jo’s eyes widened and she smiled at the angel. Dean had mentioned Anna before, that Anna was an angel. She took the offered hand and shook it. “I’ve heard of you from Dean Winchester. You’re an angel. Literally.” she chuckled.
Her smiled widened, a laugh falling from her lips as she nodded.
“Yes, that’s me. Weird, I didn’t think Dean would have spoken to
you about me. I’ve heard much about you, though. Not from Dean,
just in general.”

Jo grimaced a little. Troubled would describe her, it had for a long time. Returning from death without her mother and no idea what was going on half the time, anyone would be troubled. “Yeah, to say the least. I’m Jo Harvelle, and you are?”
The angel gave a small smile, a sympathetic smile.
She’d heard much about Jo. “My name’s Anna... Milton.”
She added after a pause. She held her hand out. “It’s a
pleasure to meet you.”

“You haven’t slept for days, have you?”
“Are you eating properly? You don’t look it.”
“Why do you keep stumbling over your words? Just how tired are you?”
“You need to think about yourself every once in a while.”
“I know your work is important, but you’re going to end up in hospital if you go on like this!”
“You haven’t even touched your food. What’s going on?”
“You look so… empty. I’m worried for you, please talk to me.”
“Are you alright in there? You’re so quiet.”
“How did you get these bruises? Please don’t lie to me.”
“There’s something bothering you that you’re not telling me and I can see it slowly destroying you. What happened?”
“You’re sleep deprived and you haven’t been eating. Why do you think you’re feeling dizzy?”
“I can give you some pills to help you sleep. They aren’t healthy, but this is even less healthy.”
“If you didn’t just blink I would’ve sworn you were dead, that’s how sickly you’re looking. Go to bed, please!”
“Have you drank all of these bottles in one weekend?!”
“I know you don’t want this, but it’s for your own good. Sign the papers so they can pick you up tomorrow and you can get clean.”
“What the hell are you doing?! Did you do that to yourself?!”
“When was the last time you left the house? Or opened the curtains for that matter.”
“Here, just keep breathing. It’ll be okay. Better out than in…”
“This can’t go on like this! You’re not eating, you’re not sleeping, you barely talk!”
“I’m sorry. I went through your room and found this. Explain what the hell this is doing in your room!”
“I thought you’d quit! How long have you been lying to me?”
“I’m only trying to help and right now I think I have a much better idea of what you need than you do.”
“Did you take anything? Why are you passing out? Hey! Stay with me!”

She wasn’t as strong as she used to be, but no angel could retrieve a person from Hell and come out unscathed, even less so from Lucifer’s cage. So to say the least, she was tired, exhausted, actually, when she returned to earth with the Milligan boy in tow.
She was breathing hard, trying not to fall over, but soon dropped to her knees. If she was exhausted from the journey, she didn’t want to think about how the human was affected, nor how the cage had affected him.
“You-you... need to r-rest...”

“I wish this didn’t happen. It seems to take a up a lot of time, and what if I never get a mate? Then it is all for nothing.”
She moved closer, careful to avoid touching the nest, kneeling beside it. “Shh, Samandriel, no. It’s not for nothing. Even if you don’t get a mate this time, you gain skill. Next time you’ll do better. You will get a mate in time.” She assured him.
