Small Talk ~ Nayeon ~ Drabble
It was this day Nayeon hated, this day she had dreaded as she rolled out of bed and threw a yellow sweater on, her bangs sticking out in different areas. She hated going Christmas shopping. She hated to spend money and she hated the crowds of people who fought over a small toy when there were certainly other stores that sold the exact same thing.
After taking a small amount of time to get ready, Nayeon left and walked in the 2 inch snow that barely covered the ground. She looked at the treees that were covered with blissfully white cold snow as she let the scent of warm muffins and coffee fill her senses with ease. She arrived at a store, and examined the crowd before going in. Strangely, the store wasn’t packed like it usually was, instead there were maybe three people in there walking around.
She smiled and walked in, the soft music played over the speakers as she grabbed a small buggy, and walked along the aisles, trying to find what her friends wanted for Christmas this year.
“So... Dahyun wanted more stuff to make cookies.. Jeongyeon wanted some books... Jihyo wanted curlers..” Nayeon mumbled to herself as she looked over the Christmas list. Nayeon bit her lip and walked out of the aisle, only to find herself running into someone running.
Nayeon fell to the floor, dropping her bag and her list, books scattered along the floor, along with journals. Nayeon looked up to see you flustered as you hurried to pick everything up.
“Are you okay?” You asked embarrassed, your cheeks dusted pink as you handed Nayeon her things. Nayeon nodded and helped you pick your stuff up as well, stopping when she saw the books you had. You had most of the books Jeongyeon wanted for Christmas and a small smirk played onto Nayeons lips.
“Do you work here?” Nayeon asked. You nodded and held the books in your arms, straining to hold them up properly.
“Do you think I could use have those books in your hands?” Nayeon asked and pointed to the two books that sat on top of the others in your arms.
“Y-Yeah sure!” You said happily, giving Nayeon a sweet. Nayeon chuckled and set the books in her buggy and thanked you before walking away. You stood there in the middle of the aisle, your cheeks burning as you felt as if the building had gotten 10x hotter since your encounter with the cute shopper. You quickly placed the books in their proper spot, and occasionally walked by the aisles Nayeon was on, admiring her concentrated face.
You quickly made your way back to the counter to work with other customers. It wasn’t long before Nayeon came to the counter, her buggy filled with various items.
“Last minute christmas shopping?” You asked teasingly, ringing up her items. Nayeon smiled and nodded, “yeah I hate christmas shopping, so i usually wait until last minute.” she explained, watching you ring the last bit of her items.
You nodded and told her how much it was. She quickly paid and watched you help set the bags in her buggy.
“Y/N.”
You looked up with confusion to see Nayeon staring at you with a small smile, you looked down at your name tag and chuckled, “yep that’s me.”
“That’s a cute name. I’m Nayeon.” Nayeon said, holding out her hand. You shook her hand, and pulled away.
“You plan on coming back?” You asked. Nayeon nodded and set her purse down, “of course.”
“Especially when the worker is just so darn cute.” Nayeon teased, laughing slightly as she watched your reaction become an embarrassed mess. Nayeon smiled and left, and you let out a sigh of relief. You stopped when you looked down to see she had left her receipt, you were about to give it back but stopped to see that she had written something on the back.
It was her phone number with a little heart beside it, and a little message beneath it.
“Thanks for the small talk <3”

Little Writings ~ Minghao
Minghao was shy, yet a cheerful extrovert around his friends. He loved to smile and hug everyone, giving them warmth and care. He wasn’t the kind of person to hide secrets either, he usually opened up to his thirteen friends like a book, longing to be read and held.
That is until he met you, his pen pal.
There was something about the way you wrote, the way you explained your day that kept him on the edge of his seat. He felt as if he was on some sort of secret journey to finding you, and he didn’t want the others to find out. He stared at the paper that you had just recently wrote him, the neat chinese words laid on the paper, the red ink slightly bleeding through the paper with a brief explanation that you used up your black pen ink.
He smiled and began to write you back, explaining his day and the current events that happened around him.
“I’m glad you’re doing well and have you though of coming to Seoul? I’m excited to meet you. There’s this little coffee shop that I go alone to, but I’d love to take you along with me.” Minghao wrote on the paper, biting the tip of his tongue as he focused of writing clean and neat like you. After he finished, he folded the paper and put it in the white envelope, writing out his address and yours as well.
“What’s that?” Jun asked as he stood at the doorway, his eyebrow cocked up.
“Oh this? It’s just a letter I’m sending to my mom.” Minghao lied as he gave Jun a thoughtful, yet strained smile. Minghao got up and walked past Jun, Jun giving Minghao a confused look.
“I don’t understand why you just don’t call her. Your life would be easier.” Jun commented nonchalantly as he followed Minghao to the living room. Minghao shook his head and grabbed his jacket, “No, because it’s not as fun. I like the anticipation.”
Jun gave Minghao a confused look before shrugging his shoulders slightly and walked back to his own room. The dorm oddly silent and Minghao narrowed his eyes, looking around to see if anyone had planned on coming out anytime soon. After about a minute Minghao walked outside and placed his daily letter in the mailbox, a smile crawling on his lips as he thought of you.
————-
You sat the kitchen table with your friend, excitedly opening the letter you had received from your pen pal.
“Again?” Yixing asked, his eyebrows raised, “why not just text him?”
“It’s not as fun.” You replied with a playful smile, reading the letter in your hands. You smiled with each letter your pen pal wrote, his nickname signed at the bottom, ‘The8’.
“Who names themselves The8? That’s dumb.” Minseok commented. You jumped and looked over to see Minseok hovering over your shoulder, biting into an apple as he gave you an innocent smile.
“You gonna take him up on his offer to go to Seoul?” Minseok asked, sitting beside Yixing. You bit your lip and shrugged, “I want to, but I’m too busy with work.” you replied with a frown. Minseok sighed and shook his head, “that’s too bad I ship you guys hard.”
You sat there in thought before writing out a quick reply to his letter.
“I’d love to meet up. How about next week? I’ll take the train.” you wrote in chinese. Yixing shook his head, “you wrote that wrong.”
You sent Yixing a glare and continued to write, signing your nickname at the bottom before setting the paper in the envelope. You walked outside with Minseok and set the envelope in the mailbox, smiling as you glanced at the little signature heart you put in the lower left corner before closing the mailbox.
“I guess now we wait.” Minseok said, breathing out puffs of cold air as he pretended it was cigarette smoke. You smiled and nodded, a warm feeling enveloping your body as you imagined Minghao.
“I guess we do.”
