Cox Arboretum MetroPark - Winter Making Room for Spring
flickr
Cox Arboretum MetroPark - Winter Making Room for Spring by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: I visited this MetroPark last week when I traveled to Ohio, It was my first visit to this place and I loved it. The contrast between the no-branches/leafs trees and the green grass, shows the passage from Winter to Spring. Thus, it is like the Winter is giving way, its passage, to the Spring; all part of the seasonal circle of life. Cox Arboretum MetroPark is 2.6-km circular trail near Miamisburg and in acreage, it is a 174-acre park in Dayton, Ohio, where you can approach, enter and connect with nature. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 2 hours to complete, if one wants to follow the different trails in it. The trails in this park are popular trails for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.

Victor Harbor - Drone Photo
flickr
Victor Harbor - Drone Photo by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: I took this photo with my Drone at Victor Harbor on the other side of the bridge. I crossed the bridge and walked some ways to get to a spot for a drone photo. Victor Harbor was one of my favorite spots to escape and relax on long weekends. Drone photography is another passion of mine. However, with all the air restrictions on flying these things, they are now a bit tricky to find a spot with no restrictions. In those early Drone days, in Australia, there were very few restrictions on where and how to fly a drone. I am in the photo; I may have ruined the scene being in it. lol. 2023 Xmas Family
flickr
2023 Xmas Family by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: My family and I wish our Flickr Family and Friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy Blessed New Year. From left to right, Lourda, my wife for 37 years, me, Leiyann, our oldest, Leslie, our middle child, and Theressa, our youngest. They are all adults and leading their professional lives. We were supposed to have all of our names starting with the letter L, except before the birth of Theressa by few days, my mom mentioned in a conversation over the phone, that none of her children named a child after her, so we ended up naming our Youngest, Theressa after my mom. Throughout my wife pregnancy, my wife and I decided we did not want to know early on, the sex of the baby thinking if the baby turns out to be a boy, we will have to buy all new stuff, and if she turns out to be a girl, we had lot of things from her sisters that we can put to use. lol. So thinking of my conversation with my mom, my mom had no idea we will be having a girl and her mentioning of her name not being passed to another child was purely a coincidence. We had in mind to name Theressa, Layel to keep the L first name first letter going, however as she grew up, when we told her the story, she said I am glad you named me Theressa. I have one more photo to post this year. I will post it in few days.

Blackpoint Sunrise Across from VAB
flickr
Blackpoint Sunrise Across from VAB by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: BlackPoint is a wildlife reserve right across Cape Canaveral NASA. This area is rich with Wildlife and known for beautiful sunrise. The building across from where I stood, on the other side of the lake bank is the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). It is known for housing the Shuttle in a vertical position so technicians can work on a shuttle and prepare it for a flight. I visited the VAB multiple times in my early career days, and it is an impressive structure. Although it is further than the Orlando Wet Land, Blackpoint is a place to visit if a person visiting Orlando, wanted to see wildlife in nature and do some photography. It is about an hour drive from Orlando. There is also a Wild Life Preserve center where they rehabilitate injured birds or wild life to release them back in nature. Visiting the center, one may get lucky and see up close a bald eagle.
Holidays until the next year... Time for walking, cycling, hiking and photography! Fun under Florida sun.... This photo was taken at Blackpoint at Merrit Island across from NASA. Florida sunrise at its best.

WoodStork Caught A Meal
flickr
WoodStork Caught A Meal by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: Quiet a distance but the 800 mm lens did its work! A closer look at this wood stork bill, looks like he caught a small frog. As I had him in my view, I noticed he snapped his head in the water fairly fast and with a sequence of shots, I caught this bird catching a meal. The wood stork is a large American wading bird. It was formerly called the "wood ibis", although it is not an ibis. It is found in subtropical and tropical habitats in the Americas, including the Caribbean. Wood Stork are also the largest wading bird in the U.S., weighing 5 to 7 lbs. with a wingspan of 5 to 5.75 feet and standing nearly 4 feet tall ā€” in other words, the height of an average 7-year-old child. Please see the photo at its largest size to see the frog! Explored: www.flickr.com/photos/shedraway/53398928745/in/explore-20...

Whistling Duck Family by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: Whistling ducks at rest, two asleep and two on guards! Whistling ducks are plentiful in Orlando, Florida. We have hundreds of these around the lake behind my backyard. Also, we had an elderly lady who went out and started throwing them seeds thinking she is feeding them. This lady was eventually warned by the Wildlife Reserve as she was aiding the ducks to develop a bad habit forming, in relying on feed vs. natural food gathering, and in the process some stopped migrating. Eventually the Florida animals control made it totally unpleasant for these birds to stay around by chasing them and making it uneasy to stay put. So, they went back to their old ways to migrate as usual.

Princess Warrior Face Off - Me & AI
flickr
Princess Warrior Face Off - Me & AI by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: Another AI Photo with some extra care to change the original AI Canvas to add more content to it to make it to this photo. The concept is to depict a spirited warrior leading the charge in this fantasy land with fighters from across historic times. The fighters are a mix of Indian, Middle Eastern, Persian and Medieval warriors from different times. The original canvas is the fantasy land and the giant bats. All else are artwork added to this scene.

Great Blue Heron Keeping With Balance
flickr
Great Blue Heron Keeping With Balance by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: I was only few feet away from this bird. He did not even flinch or feel threatened. He simply gestured, with his one leg as he is trying to keep balance on the other leg. This bird is the largest of the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, daggerlike bill. Head, chest, and wing plumes give a shaggy appearance. In flight, the Great Blue Heron curls its neck into a tight ā€œSā€ shape; its wings are broad and rounded and its legs trail well beyond the tail. This bird is a killer hunter of fish, snakes and rodents. With a single strike of his bill, he can pierce an animal and swallow it whole.

Creatures of A Red Moon Night by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: I had this idea in my head about a theme for this year Halloween. So I sketched a bit of it, cartoonish like on a paper, and scanned it to have it digitized. Then I worked with the AI program through a whole lot if iterations to get the color and the figures to the way I like. This photo is made by me, myself, AI and I (šŸ˜‡) working it for quite some time till I get it to the photo it is now. The only real thing in this photo is the moon, I took it, years ago, in Lebanon on the Mediterranean Sea and then through color layer and red brush, I painted it, reddish like moon, to be like a blood moon. Happy Tricks or Treats and Happy Halloween night!

Singular Tree Ghostly Reflection by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: At the Orlando Wet Land, the sky formation and the single tree in the middle of swamps with its reflection made for a good morning start.... It does not matter, how many times I visit this place and I visit it often, there is always something unique and beautiful about the rich set of scenes it has. Orlando Wet Land Waters Mirror Like Reflections
flickr
OWL Waters Mirror Like Reflections by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: On this day, I took a series of photos at the Orlando Wet Land, the water was extremely calm and so it appeared as if it was a mirror. I could not get the scene using my 100mm to 500mm Canon lens, so I went with my Samsung phone taking several shots so I can stitch them into a a panorama scene with the aim to get perfect symmetry between the scene and its reflection in the water.

Orlando Wetlands Convention Hall and Landscape
flickr
Orlando Wetlands Convention Hall and Landscape by Lutfi Shedraway Via Flickr: My Olympus IR Camera gave it last breath. I took it to a camera place to be fixed and the price tag was more than the camera itself. I had a Canon OMD5 camera which I used in my travels, and I stopped using it when I moved to the Canon R5. I sent the OMD5 and waited 6 weeks for it to arrive back as an IR camera. The Orlando Wetland Convention center is fairly a new building. I must have passed it several times not paying attention to its surroundings. However, this last time, I saw this landscape around it with special plant having fall colors and fluffy branches. I was thinking how that would look in the IR camera. Luckily, because of its small footprint, the OMD5 stays in the car. So, I grabbed it, came back to this place and took few IRs, at 575nm filter. The lower nm, the better luck, the blueish sky will show... This is not a fantasy photo fairy land, this is purely IR šŸ˜„
