Yeah we’re still active. Just not so much since Homestuck finished!

I believe there was a NSW one a while ago. I think it was called Chalkstuck? I might be wrong though.

hi, I was just wondering, because homestuck is ending whether a lot of the group will be attending and cosplaying as a farewell type deal at supanova next weekend?

The whole group is full of autonomous human beings with various things they enjoy. And people generally plan their cosplays months in advance so I'm not sure if the finishing of Homestuck has prompted any last minute cosplay plans.There is a big "reunion" of sorts happening in 2019 and my partner and I will be cosplays redone versions of our Redglare and Mindfang costumes one day, probably when the game comes out.Exciting and kind of sad to see it end.See you at Supanova! -Mod R

Hey so I was just wondering if it would be weird for people around fourteen or fifteen to go to meet ups? Also what if they didn't have anyone to go with them? Are people generally friendly or would the person end up on their own?

I've always considered general meets to be 'all ages' events. As long as everybody behaves themselves there should be no problems!

I know a lot of members that have attended meets since they have been around 13 and everybody has been lovely to them.

To that anon - you can always create a Facebook purely for convention or meetup related things! A lot of cosplayers have done this. You'll then be able to keep up with group stuff, and with any friends you make through the group. And you can talk about the updates with us all!

Friendly reminder for MelbSPA's: BE COURTEOUS

We’ve received complaints about the pocky game and spin the bottle being played at the most recent con, as well as disrespectful and boisterous behaviour. As the admins, we do not support this behaviour in the slightest. When you’re in Homestuck cosplay, you represent the fandom as a whole. We have a bad enough rep as it is.

Be respectful. Do not engage in controversial behaviour. If you’re underage and playing games that involve kissing and touching others, this is extremely frowned upon and brings up age/consent issues which we may have to answer to.

Do not block walkways, do not disrupt other con-goers. These are things we should abide by not just inside but outside the con environment too.

Cons are exciting, and hanging out with other people who like the stuff you do is great, but be aware and be thoughtful.

If you had any problems at Armageddon and wish to speak with an admin about it, please contact us on Tumblr or via Facebook and we’ll help you out. I’m happy to pass you on to a fellow admin if you’re prefer to talk to someone else.

For those of you who did the right thing and tried to speak up or simply behaved appropriately, thank you! I hope your con was a wonderful one!

I'm sorry to say that it's facebook only.We refrain from posting meetup information on tumblr for security and safety reasons. 

We don't have any meetups any time soon though.

Unfortunately I have become very busy with work so it limits the amount of meet ups I can host.We’re putting a hold on con meets because attendance has gone down a lot since the comic got put on hiatus.I shall try to get something happening for Halloween, but yeah, expect the lull in meets to continue until the comic gets a boost again.

We really only want members and their friends turning up so members can see the events and bring friends even though the friends can’t be invited.

Questions about Meet ups

Hello! i’m new to the group (and meet ups in general actually) and i just have a few questions that i hope you can answer for me. What happens at the meet ups? i know that each has it’s own theme (i think) but what are some of the things that tend to happen at each one? also, what will be happening at the April meet up? i might not be able to make it as it’s 4-5 days after my 16th birthday so i have a few things to do. how long do the meet ups tend to last? how approachable are the members? i’m a tad shy around people and i don’t like to get in the way. also, what happens with food? is there food provided or do we bring our own or do we attend a nearby restaurant? thank you for your time, i asked similar questions yesterday in the “Ask” section but i was unsure whether it actually sent or not, so i decided to ask again the following day. hopefully i haven’t wasted your time, have a great day <3

Look our meetups have themes and generally havegames or activities. People are pretty cool and like to hang out. Bring your own food or food to share or go get maccas usually. The April meet is a Supanova meet so it’s at a con, which means it’s just getting photos of everyone’s cosplays. There might be a draw meet at the end of the month or beginning of May. They last as long as you want, most people tend to bugger off around 4ish.

Sorry to sound snappy or anything, I wrote you out a nice big answer this morning with my hangover and I’m still aching and annoyed at tumblr.

Could I suggest a games meet for a future meet? I know we've just had chess meet, but I think a general gaming meet would be amazing! Twister, monopoly, CaH, Uno, handheld console gaming, et cetera could be very fun.

CAH got the thumbs down due to the general age of our members. I wouldn’t play that game with someone under 16 and the average age of our members is about 15. Play it at home all you want, but not on my watch. Sorry.

Twister and Monopoly are ideally 4-8 player games. Considering our average meet attendance is between 20 and 50 that sure as shit ain’t gonna work.

Uno is the same kinda deal. It could work but I think it could end with us splitting into smaller groups and that’s not what we like to do at meets. We try to get everyone involved.

And not everyone has a handheld console. Though it is a good idea. We try our best at meets not to exclude people, I mean it does happen, but we try not to [and I encourage people to approach me if they feel left out].

I am trying to think of more meets with games so don’t fret. I have at least 2 more meets planned. Though I think our next meet might be a bit more relaxed C:

Thank you for your input though, I do love getting ideas. A good idea is to think of themes and then we can plan the meet around the themes. Like BeachStuck, WinterStuck and TricksterStuck [examples from previous meets].

Hey, just had to hunt down this blog because I had a random idea. What if MELBSPA had a game of Human Chess? Like, Highbloods vs lowbloods, with Benji or Felix or Oscar directing the pieces? I think it'd be fun, if like people were to nominate for places on the board, set a time and play the game. I think it'd be a great little bit of fun. No hurting people, naturally. Another idea is maybe some other fun activities? Just an idea. -MELBSPAPERP

A lot of people ask about the Treeforce and where it is, so here are directions c:

Up in the top left corner is Flinders Street Station and down the bottom right is The Treeforce.

We hold plenty of meets here and when the weather cools down we often go to the Herb Garden in Melbourne Central. If you go up the escalators near the big clock and then walk away from the food court you’ll find the Herb Garden in the bridge where Myers and MC used to connect!

I'm not sure if this is still active but I have some feedback for yall regarding meets, something that is talked about a lot post pretty much all the meets I have been to is people smoking at meets and if possible could you maybe have a ban on smoking at meets? I understand some people like to do it but others might be very young/sick/pregnant/just really don't like the smell and I personally find it quite gross and inconsiderate. I've had one other person mention this to me already and I'll be making a post about the misdeeds done at the beach meet. I've had a few complaints to me directly and I'm sad to hear these things. I'm more annoyed to hear about smoking near the group [I wish someone has told me right away] because I have previously stated at meets it is not okay to smoke near the meet. We have too many peeps with asthma and I personally really dislike secondhand smoke so yeah. Expect a post about this kinda thing in the Mutterings and Main Page.

Edit: To clarify. If you are an adult/smoker who wishes to smoke while we're at a meet my only request is you move it downwind or a bit away from the meet. Some members are too shy to ask you to not so it's just a nice thing to do C:
