(Free) Brazilian Portuguese Beginner Resource Masterlist
I've seen a lot of posts for European Portuguese, but none for Brazilian, so here we are! All resources are available for free (or at least have free trials.)
The items highlighted in yellow are what I, personally, use and recommend.
The items with asterisks are closer to intermediate level.
I will continue to update with new resources as I discover them. If you have any suggestions, comment or reblog!

being bilingual is awesome. just being able to communicate in another language in itself is so cool but one aspect we don't talk about just as much is the access to information. like, right at your fingertips. just looking stuff on google and realizing wait. I could look up the same thing but in english and I'll get different results?? absolutely changed my life. I actually realized that embarrassingly late in my studies but now it's practically become a habit of mine.
looking up that wikipedia page and it's not very detailed? switch the language. looking up an event/phenomenon/whatever for a paper but you can't seem to find much on it? switch the language. world news that haven't be covered in your country? swith the language.
learning a second language has like. expanded my world view and my range of possibilities so much it's incredible. of course not every language has as much documentation available online, and english is very much at an advantage in that field, but there is a community for every culture out there. and realizing you can actually be a small part of it because you speak the language is a feeling like no other.
I wish I knew other languages so I could learn things the english and french speaking worlds are not knowledgeable about. I wish I knew every language, but alas, we only have so much time....

🖥️ 28.06.2023 // It was my first day of internship at the Marie Curie Institute! I did mostly administrative tasks as trying to pick up my entry badge (I will only have it tomorrow *sob*) and code to have access to the intranet. I also read some genetic papers about a constitutional mutation on breast cancers as it's what I will be working on for the next two month! I'm so so excited to discover this field! 🩵🩵
I left my internship early to eat with some friend and have a picnic with other friends. It was so nice to see all of them after studying that much for my finals 🩷
Also, tomorrow there will be a meal with all the unit on the balcony! I can't wait for it even if I'm a bit anxious about meeting everyone in one go ahah

29.06.2023 || Almost failed analytical mechanics but I went to the prof's office hours and we looked at my exam and somehow found the 3 missing points so I don't have to retake it. Only 2 exams left and I'm done with this semester🫠🫠

Studying can be a daunting task, especially when we're not feeling motivated or don't know where to start. Luckily you are on Tumblr, where the Tumblr Studyblr community lives!
A group of individuals who share their study tips, techniques, and challenges to help motivate and inspire others.
As a member of this community, I've compiled a master post of study challenges created by Studyblr bloggers. These challenges aim to help students stay on track, improve their focus, and achieve their academic goals. So you can join in and start achieving your academic potential!
>> 𝐍 𝐨 𝐭 𝐞
If you know any other challenges or you've created ones yourself and want to share them, do message me with the link to the post so I can update the list! I too will be creating some, more coding-related ones as I am a coding studyblr (codeblr) blog! That's all and hope you find a challenge you'd like to start!

Checklist for starting a language
- (if needed) learn the alphabet
- basic grammar for forming words and pronunciation
This process alone would take a few hours maybe 2-3 depending on the difficulty and the difficulty depends on your native language
- 1000 most common words in your native language (translate to target language)
Translate favorite medias into target language
This could be songs, movie quotes, scenes, or anything from your own writing.
Attempt to pronounce these by looking at the writing.
I’ve been making flash cards for alphabet and sounds
I’m new to language learning so if anything I said is less effective than another strategy please let me know.

How to learn a language the fun (and easy) way:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1 - Watch native films/dramas
This is not only fun, but will also help your ears adjust to the speed and tones of native speakers. You will start to differentiate individual words and sounds. This is not a voice over or language teacher speaking - these are natives who speak rapid-fire, and with lots of slang thrown in. You'll also learn about the country's culture, etiquette rules and general way of life.
Matt vs Japan (YouTube) learnt Japanese through watching anime. You can also learn through native resources like manga. And this is how babies learn naturally - through an endless stream of language input. Eventually they recognise word, intonation and grammar patterns.
For free Korean/Japanese/Chinese dramas check out Viki, or you can find a variety of languages on Netflix, or even YouTube (good for Russian ones!)
2 - Find a translated version of books/films
If you know a book series by heart, find the translated version and go through them slowly. Since you already know the plot, you'll associate new words with their meanings much faster. You can also do this with films you've watched repeatedly, like the Disney classics.
3 - Chat with natives
Use apps like HelloTalk, Tandem or Hilokal to chat (for free!) with native speakers around the world. Honestly, this is the fastest way to learn, especially because they use everyday expressions/slang. It's also the most fun way because you're essentially just making foreign friends.
4 - Browse the internet in your TL
YouTube, twitter, Tumblr, forums, whatever. Google a recipe in Spanish. Check the news in German. Create a YouTube account specifically for Arabic. You can also make Spotify playlists in your TL, and listen to them instead of your usual native ones.
5 - Create content
Compose a song
Keep a diary
Start a blog
Create a YouTube channel
Write a passionate essay
Write a short story
...in your target language.
6 - Latch onto something cultural you love
Fall in love with Russian literature and start wading your way through Crime and Punishment. Get obsessed with Hindi Bollywood movies, or Italian opera, or Japanese anime/manga. Research into your TL country's history in that foreign language. Binge Korean dramas or kpop idol interviews. Anything, as long as you're passionate about it.
Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other ideas :)

i've been a part of the community since 2014 ♡
i'm 24 years old, infj, aries; you can call me fae

i love to crochet, read, write, and garden in my free time, + more

15/03/23 || Wednesday
I was home for the week and now I am back! Although I have so much work this week that my motivation is low T_T. Still I will try my best to do whatever I can in the best way possible and now I will let my phone sit and go to sleep cause my eyes are drooping close and I make no sense in my head either, good night! (Or morning or evening!)
(PS ignore the annotations I love making weird remarks on the books I read)
