Oops!

So as might have been obvious, this account has been abandoned. I've sold (ALMOST) all my dolls, and I've moved on to different things. Mostly drawing and writing!

I am still active online, you can find me on tumblr under just @mismantis, but it's really just shitposts. I only post art on toyhouse (also MisMantis, surprise), and I don't know if that'll change? I've considered picking up my IG account again once my last doll(part) is sold, but I dont know. The AI stuff scares me, I don't really feel like sharing my art anymore.

So uh, yep, sorry! I'm going to log out now and log back into my main account, if you want to contact me, do it over there :) Otherwise I won't see it haaa.

Ermagewd Mis has an angel philia what has the world come to (what hasnt it)

Anyway I had this very geometric symmetrical design in mind for her, because I wanted to “push myself”, which basically really didn’t work and demotivated me for a good few months maybe. So instead i finally decided to just paint flowers. I like flowers. So this is the result, freehand flowers with some geometry thrown in because that’s a tattoo style I really dig.

She is absolutely stunning!!

It is such a relief to finally finish this doll.  I’ve had her for over ten years at this point, and she really deserved to be something called finished.  Aki is a Resinsoul Ai finished with airbrushed acrylic and brushed liquid leaf.  Her joints have been ‘sueded’ with hot melt and she poses so much better than ever (she actually sits/stands reliably on her own).  Her jointed hands are also from Resinsoul.

She is a creature that fits into Parnassus’ mythology, though I don’t know her specific backstory yet.  In world - her markings are white, blue, and black, and the gold is paint/makeup.  Her design is influenced by @mismantisbjd and @missmonstermel gorgeous dolls and creations (Aki is much more humble, but for a shot at doing something very dramatic to a doll - which I was taught was a big no-no when first customizing - I’m very happy with her).

Red is done! I am so glad to have finished a doll again, I have lots of dolls still in-progress so this gives me hope I CAN finish them. I think I know who’s next, too. But first Red needs to be drawn, since he’s decided he wants to be a character as well. Never happens usually. 

So this is a Lillycat Lyse, modded to have horns, elf ears and dreaming eyes. Dyed red with black gradients, and painted with gold flowers. Took way too long.

Given that I am saving up I had this idea of selling him once I was done, but with how many hours went into him and how fond I got of the design myself, that’s no longer gonna happen :”D Sorry. I doubt people could afford him HA

Oh yeah I have a tumblr! Here’s some pictures of my current work-in-progress. This Lyse was dyed and modded by her previous owner, which I both removed. I’ve given her dreaming eyes, pointy ears, horns are by Apel. The dye job is rit dyemore racing red, and rit dyemore charcoal. Gold paint is a powder from schmincke, that I just kinda found in the art store, I don’t know, try and stop me from taking every gold paint in existence to try. You can’t.

I’m still here! Battling through SAD, we’ve had a few nice days that’re doing me good. Restringing is still a big pain and my hands are only recovering extremely slowly. 

But! Dyed this girl. Still left to do:

- Gold leaf the black Venitu. Most of that is done now

- Dye a realfee + some parts

- Paint the red ant

- Paint the blue Miniguene

And then im never taking commissions again YAAAAAAY!!!

If you are knowingly buying recasts, you are part of the problem. If you are sending dolls to be recasted, you are definitely part of the problem. If you are buying secondhand recasts, you are part of the problem by keeping the circulation going. If you are only buying recasts from ‘bigger companies’, you are part of the problem. If you have a ‘neutral’ stance in this issue, you are part of the problem. If you are buying recasts from recasters other than Luo, you are still part of the problem. If you have a recast and want to go legit, you are no longer part of the problem. If you bought a recast not knowing what it was, you are not part of the problem. If you got gifted a recast by an unknowing family member, you are not part of the problem. If you are honest about owning an accidentally acquired recast, you are not part of the problem. If you are honest about having previously bought recasts but you have now gone legit, you are not part of the problem.

As with any issue in the world, both sides have extremes. There are many of us who want to fight for the artists, but will not go as far as bullying or sending death threats. That shit goes too far. There are many of us who are understanding of those who accidentally bought recasts because we have seen how recasters have taken over google searches. We understand they are the first thing you will see and we understand they are generally a lot more affordable for people. We are not scary, we just want to protect the people who have made this entire hobby possible.

All everyone asks is that you stop funding criminal activity, if you still have recasts but you’re not buying any more; good. Come join us. It’s not odd to change your mind on something. The sculptors need you!

Heyy folks. Haven’t cared to post much lately. Maybe it’s turned into a bit of a longer break! I find myself drawing more lately, haven’t done that in years. I am VERY excited for Ldoll though, so, no loss of interest. Pondering what dolls to bring. Wish I’d motivated myself to work harder to finish more, I’m a little tired of unfinished dolls so.
