Bogdan Arnold
Tumblr media
The officers could not get in through the closed door and called the fire brigade for help. One of the firefighters got down the rope, broke a window and entered the apartment. Because of the smell, he had to put on a gas mask beforehand in order not to lose consciousness.
Tumblr media
Fragments of human bodies in an advanced state of decay were strewn throughout the apartment. The remains were on the floor, in a bathtub, in a wooden box and even in a linen kettle. The police couldn’t say how many victims they were. Only later, in-depth examinations in the forensic medical facility in Zabrze allowed the conclusion that there were corpses of four women in the tenement house in Dąbrowskiego.
Tumblr media
The tenant of the apartment – Bogdan Arnold – remained elusive despite intensive searches. After a few days, he reported himself to the police. And he told of the crimes committed.

Boysie singh
Tumblr media
Boysie Singh was a notorious Trinidadian killer who was eventually hanged for murder in the mid-1950s.Born at 17 Louis Street, Woodbrook, on April 5, 1908, he grew up to be a gambler, thief, arsonist, pirate, and mass murderer.Singh’s father Bhagrang Singh was himself a fugitive from justice, who reportedly fled India to Trinidad.
Tumblr media
Singh started doing petty crime, even spending time at Carrera Island Prison in the 1940s.Following prison, he ran gambling clubs and brothels, moved on to the protections racket, and was known to set fire to cars or buildings when "clients" would not pay up.Later, he smuggled goods from Cedros to Caracas, then resorted to piracy. From 1947 to 1956, Singh and his henchmen terrorised local fishermen and Venezuelan smugglers. They would kill a crew, steal their goods and engines, and sink the boat.Singh broadened his criminal reach to include human trafficking, smuggling illegal immigrants some of whom he would rob or kill.
Tumblr media
Along the way, it is reported, he murdered hundreds of people. Legend has it that some victims were made to "walk the plank", in the tradition of old-time Caribbean pirates, and plunge to their death at sea.Twice, Singh was charged by the police. In one case, he got off due to lack of evidence. In the other, he was convicted but won on appeal and was released.Eventually, Singh's luck ran out when he was convicted for the murder of a dancer. All appeals failed, and he was sentenced to death.Boysie Singh was hanged at the Royal Gaol in Port-of-Spain on August 20, 1957.

Tumblr media
This individual was lying on an “egg crate” foam mattress when he died. The foam tips of the mattress touched the skin and cleared the livor, while the cups of the mattress allowed the livor form. Livor mortis or lividity is the gravitational pooling of blood in the dependent parts of the body, both externally in the skin capillaries and venules but also in the internal organs. Lividity may not be seen in bodies that are very anemic at death.

Ellen Greenberg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The family of a teacher who was found brutally stabbed in her home in what was deemed a suicide by authorities have demanded that the city's mayor reopen her case amid claims the governor had a conflict of interest.Ellen Greenberg was 27 years old when her fiancé Sam Goldberg found her dead in the kitchen of her Philadelphia apartment on January 26, 2011; she had 20 stab wounds, including 10 to the back of the head and neck.
Her parents have been on a journey ever since to get what they say would be justice for their daughter, who they claim was being abused by Goldberg - whose family allegedly donated to then-attorney general Josh Shapiro, now the state's governor. Ellen's father Dr. Josh Greenberg told Fox News Digital his daughter had injuries on her body 'consisted with abuse.''That's what I think the whole issue of this story,' the grieving father added. 'Somebody didn't want Ellen's abuse to get out there … and that's why she's dead.'
Tumblr media
Ellen Greenberg was 27 years old when her iancé Sam Goldberg found her dead in the kitchen of her Philadelphia apartment on January 26, 2011Ellen's parents, Joshua and Sandee believe their daughter was killed and have spent years dedicated to finding out the truth behind her deathBack in 2022, independent journalist Gavin Fish claimed in a YouTube video that then AG Shapiro had a 'clear conflict of interest' in the case and that Goldberg's family were campaign donors. Then-AG Shapiro recused himself from the case three days after the video was published, as reported by Fox News.At the time, the AG's office denied the conflict of interest was real.'While the Office of Attorney General does not have an actual conflict in this matter, circumstances beyond our control have created the appearance of a conflict and our involvement is no longer serving one of the primary purposes of the District Attorney’s original conflict referral,' Shapiro's office told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
In July 2023, Dr Greenberg claimed Ellen's autopsy report said she suffered a huge laceration in the back of her head and that she was covered in bruises in different stages of healing. 'That's what I think the whole issue of this story,' he told Fox News Digital. 'Somebody didn't want Ellen's abuse to get out there … and that's why she's dead.' Ellen's death was initially ruled a homicide but the medical examiner's office then changed it to suicide after a meeting with police and prosecutors, per her family.
Tumblr media
A petition asking mayor Jim Kenney to to reopen and investigate Ellen’s case has collected more than 150,000 signatures.Officials have for years said they have found no evidence of foul play in Ellen's death.Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner also previously recused himself from reinvestigating the death after having previously worked with the Greenbergs.
At the time, police claimed that the door of Greenberg's apartment was locked from the inside and there were no signs of a struggle.Goldberg told investigators he came home in 2011, kicked the door, and found his fiancé dead with a knife clinging to her chest.
Tumblr media
In a chilling 911 call, he told police Greenberg had stabbed herself. 'Help!... My fiancé's on the floor with blood everywhere.'He later added, 'I can't see anything... there's nothing broken... Ellie!... I think she hit her head.''Oh my god! She stabbed herself... she fell on a knife... there is a knife sticking out of her heart.'
The Chester County District Attorney's Office began an outside investigation into Ellen's death last year, but now governor Shapira had been sitting on the case for years while he was attorney general.'He stole four years from us, holding the case in his office, and we have no evidence of him doing anything,' said Ellen's mother Sandee Greenberg.
Then-AG Shapiro's office, however, previously said it had undertaken 'an exhaustive review and conducted new forensic analysis' but their additional efforts did not bring 'more closure to the questions around [Ellen's] death.'Chester County officials have said their investigation into the case is ongoing. The Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General alleged that several death and suicide- related searches has been performed on Greenberg's laptop in the weeks leading up to her death. But a lawyer hired by the Goldbergs said the hard-drive was subsequently examined by the FBI lab in 2011 and no such searches were found.
Tumblr media
In the weeks prior to her death, Greenbergs parents, Josh and Sandee, said something had been troubling their daughter. However, they did not believe she was suicidal.A couple of weeks before her death Greenberg told her parents that she wanted to quit her job and 'come home.' They said she could come home if she needed to, but they wanted her to seek help for her anxiety. She told them it was the stress of organizing a wedding – she was due to marry that August and had sent out 'Save the Date' cards just four days before her death - and that work was particularly busy. Her father said, 'Something was amiss. Her personality was changed. She played it off that work was too much but when the teacher who took on Ellen's class saw her books and marking she said everything was perfect.'
Greenberg saw a therapist who prescribed her Ambien and Klonopin for anxiety. Police pointed to this as further support for a finding of suicide. But psychiatrist Dr Ellen Berman, who saw Greenberg three times before her death, was clear that her new patient was not suicidal.
Tumblr media
Samuel Goldberg is now 40 and a married father of two living in New York. He remained in contact with the family for a year or so following Greenberg's death.

Lawrence king
15-year-old Lawrence Fobes King lived a troubled life after being adopted and then mistreated at a young age.
Tumblr media
By the time he hit middle school, he was finally living happily in a foster group home where he felt free enough to let the world know he was gay. Though many adults and teens close to him warned of the dangers of being so open about his sexuality, this, in no way, deterred young Larry from showing the world, unapologetically, who he was. At the same time, you have a 14-year-old boy named Brandon Mclnerney who's also lived a very difficult life with an extremely abusive father as his mother struggled with drug addiction and was unable to remove her son from the volatile situation. In a very unfortunate and sad way, these two troubled teens' lives crossed paths in what would lead to a deadly conclusion.
Tumblr media
Larry and Brandon both attended E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, California in 2008. Larry was very much ignored up until he came out as gay and began to cross dress at school. It's safe to say that most teachers there did not approve. Based on statements made, Larry was still allowed to dress in the manner in which he chose. Then, in February of 2008, Larry began telling his friends about how attractive he found Brandon. This angered Brandon, who plotted to have Brandon jumped, but those efforts never proved fruitful. One day, as Brandon stood on the basketball court surrounded by friends, little Larry approached with a full face of makeup and high heels to ask Brandon to be his valentine. It's unclear if Larry truly wanted Brandon as his valentine or had set out to embarrass his fellow student for the rejection Brandon had strongly expressed. No matter what the reason, this sent Brandon into a rage as he had expressed his frustration with school staff previously and felt Larry was being allowed to sexually harass him. On other occasions, Larry would holler out to Brandon as they passed each other in the halls, things like "I love you baby," all while other students made fun of Bandon for the teasing. While the thought of this is troubling, it in no way excuses the decisions Brandon made from then on.
Tumblr media
On February 12th, 2018, Brandon left home for school armed with a 22 calibre revolver with the thought of shooting Larry. Once he sat down in the computer lab with Larry and the rest of the class, Brandon admits to having second thoughts. That was until Larry loudly expressed that he would now be referred to as Letocia. It was then that Brandon stood up and fired two shots into the back of Larry's head. Brandon then fled the scene and was apprehended a couple blocks from the school.
Tumblr media
Larry was still alive and was transported to St. John's
Regional Medical Center where he was taken into surgery. He was declared brain dead on February 13 but kept on life support for two days before passing away.
While there was lots of controversy over whether or not Brandon should be charged as an adult, the prosecution made the decision that he would be tried as such. While most saw Larry as the victim in this, many others, including teachers and Larry's adoptive father, expressed sympathy for Brandon as they felt he was being sexually harassed. School staff were informed on numerous occasions that Larry was following boys into the bathroom but were told to take no action. Hundreds of students at the school even signed a petition pleading for Brandon to be tried in juvenile court. Nevertheless, by early July of 2011, the trial was well underway and Brandon was facing a life sentence being tried as an adult.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the trial ended in a deadlocked jury with seven jurors voting guilty of voluntary manslaughter and five others deciding on first or second degree murder. Before long, six jurors were rallying in Brandon's defence after saying they in no way supported this 14-year-old being tried as an adult. They even went on to raise money for his defence as the DA's office announced they would be retrying the case. That trial would never come because on November 21, 2011, Mclnerney was offered a plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, and use of a firearm. He was sentenced to serve 21 years.

Hiroshima survivors paintings
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum has collected thousands of drawings made by survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. The drawings document survivors' memories surrounding that horrible day.
Tumblr media
Hideo Kimura shows burned and screaming classmates. Some were trapped under heavy gates and houses. Others were in the river, holding onto a stone embankment.
Tumblr media
This drawing by survivor Akira Onogi shows a woman pinned under a pillar from her collapsed house as deadly flames approach. Next to the woman, a sobbing girl pleads for help from neighbors. The neighbors couldn't move the pillar.
Tumblr media
Chisako Sasaki drew this image of a girl at a window on the second floor of a burning house. Sasaki remembers the girl crying for help. "I can never forget," Sasaki said.
Tumblr media
Mitsuko Taguchi is haunted by this scene, depicted in her drawing, of a dead mother and child who had fallen while trying to outrun flames. "Her hair was standing on end," Taguchi said. "She still protected her child under her breast, like a living person. Her eyes were open wide. I cannot forget that shocking sight."
Tumblr media
Torazuchi Matsunaga remembered soldiers carrying children's corpses on stretchers to a temporary crematorium. "These children had been injured by the bomb and taken to the army hospital for treatment but had soon died," she said. "The hands and legs sticking out of the stretcher swung with the motion. My chest suddenly seized with emotion."
Tumblr media
Survivor Asako Fujise drew this image of a bomb shelter that was being used as a makeshift hospital. It was "filled with moans and the smell of zinc oxide and Mercurochome mixed with sweat."
Tumblr media
Sueko Sumimoto remembered a mother standing on a bridge. She was screaming her child's name while the bodies of dead students floated on the river below.
Tumblr media
Like cattle, injured survivors were loaded into rail cars to escape the ruined city. "Most people were injured, and those with burns were slathered with white medicine," Kazuo Koya said. "There were so many bandaged people. With only the clothes on their backs, they waited under the blazing sun for departure."

Ariana Ptarcinski
On Christmas Eve, 2021, 18-year-old Ariana Ptarcinski was in her room with her 20-year-old boyfriend when she sustained a fatal knife wound to her neck. Now over a year later, the case remains under investigation and the young woman’s family and friends are calling for the resolution of the case. “Someone should be in jail,” Ariana’s father Ed Ptarcinski said.
Tumblr media
According to a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office report (HCSO) obtained on March 27 by the Hernando Sun from a friend of the Ptarcinski family, just after midnight on Dec. 25, 2021, deputies responded to a call from Thomas and Melissa LoBianco reporting that they heard screaming coming from the neighboring home of Ed and Judy Ptarcinski at 4054 Beaumont Loop in Spring Hill.
According to the report, the LoBiancos stated that they saw Ed Ptarcinski standing at the front walkway of his residence shouting, “You killed my daughter,” at a man later identified as then 20-year-old Ramon Durst.
Thomas LoBianco told responding deputies at the scene that he began to walk toward Ptarcinski and noticed that Durst, who was covered in blood, charging aggressively at Ptarcinski. LoBianco then used his flat fist to punch Durst on the side of his head. According to the report, LoBianco told deputies that Durst bent forward but did not fall. LoBianco then punched Durst a second time knocking him to the ground, according to his statements contained in the report.
“(He) the boyfriend kept saying ‘ I really (screwed) up, shoot me because I’m going to jail for a long time,’“ Ptarcinski told Hernando Sun.
Tumblr media
When they interviewed him at the scene, Ed Ptarcinski told deputies that after spending the evening with his family and with Durst who was in a relationship with Ariana for about 8 or 9 months, Ed and his wife Judy retired to the master bedroom. Shortly thereafter he got up to use the restroom and saw the entry door of their bedroom open and Durst holding Ariana by the hair saying, “I did this.”
At that time, Ed noticed that Ariana was bleeding from her neck which appeared to have been slit. He then began to scream for help, the report said.
According to Ed, personnel from the Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) subsequently arrived at the scene and transported her to the Trauma Center at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson where she later died.
“I never saw her again until I went to the hospital to pull the plug,” Ptarcinski said.
Tumblr media
At the scene, deputies also “attempted” to speak with Judy who “was very hysterical,” and would not answer other questions, but said “Look what he did to my daughter.”
When they interviewed Ariana’s 12-year-old sister, she told deputies that she was in her room when she was awakened by arguing, but could not make out the exact words used in the argument. When she left her bedroom to see what was going on, she saw Durst carrying Ariana by her hair to her parent’s bedroom.
“Her jugular vein had been severed and she was bleeding out,” he said. “I could see her eyes saying ‘Dad help me,’” Ed Ptarcinski later told the Hernando Sun.
According to the HCSO report, deputies detained Durst and attempted to get his personal information. In response, Durst “would only provide his name, date of birth and address,” the report said.
Tumblr media
That address is in Stuart, Florida, according to a copy of Durst’s driver’s license, which was also provided to the Hernando Sun by a friend of the Ptarcinski family.
The Ptarcinski family and Durst were all taken to the HCSO for interviews. All were released without charge.“The boyfriend probably lawyered up,” Ed Ptarcinski said.
According to the report, deputies entered the front door of the residence to make sure no one was left inside. There an investigator noticed drops of “a red substance that appeared to by blood trailing from the northwest bedroom to the southeast master bedroom.”HCSO investigators later collected evidence at the scene.
According to Ptarcinski, much was overlooked. “They didn’t take a sheet with the boyfriend’s bloody handprints on it -There were two knives in the room – and his wallet,” Ptarcinski said. “I think they botched the investigation – I think they screwed it royally.”
In response, HCSO Media Relations Manager Denise Moloney disagreed.“We feel certain that the scene was processed very thoroughly,” she said. “We very thoroughly collected evidence and passed it onto SAO for a filing decision.”
According to Moloney, crime scenes are processed by having forensics specialists collect evidence who subsequently package it and pass it on to the States Attorney’s Office (SAO). It’s the SAO’s job to decide which if any charges should be made in connection with the case and against whom.
Tumblr media
“The SAO wants to make a case that will stand up to scrutiny by a jury in court,” Moloney said. “They want to make sure that the evidence warrants the charges so that a jury won’t throw the case out of court.”
The process takes time. “Both the HCSO and the SAO take our time to get justice for the victims and the survivors if justice is needed,” she said. “Everyone tries to do their best – it takes time.”
Currently, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ariana Ptarcinski‘s death remains open.“The case is still open, pending a filing decision by the SAO,” Moloney said. The SAO also confirmed that “the case is still under investigation.”
While the probe continues, Ed Ptarcinski and those familiar with the incident remain frustrated by the length of time it is taking to come to a resolution in the case. “I did everything they asked me to do – everything in my power in making statements, allowing searchers into my home,” Ptarcinski said. “Nothing is happening.”

William Lester Suff
William Suff (1984-1993) aka "the Riverside Prostitute Killer" or "The Lake Elsinore Killer" was a 41-year old government stock clerk from Riverside County, California who liked to impersonate police officers, write books, drive fancy cars, and do community service work.
Tumblr media
His neighbors described him as "a friendly nerd who was always doing things to help people".
He had, however, spent some time in prison during the 1970s in Texas for, along with his wife, beating their 2-month-old daughter to death.
In the orange groves of Riverside County, he dumped the bodies of 13 victims, all prostitutes, and authorities suspected he may have been responsible for as many as 22 deaths in the local area. He would cruise around red light districts in a van and then knife his victims to death. A traffic stop and forensic evidence obtained from inside his van resulted in conviction for 2 of the murders, and in 1995, he was sentenced to death.
Tumblr media
He subsequently raped, stabbed, strangled, and sometimes mutilated 12 or more prostitutes in Riverside County, beginning in 1986. On January 9, 1992, Suff was arrested after a routine traffic stop.
Described as a mild-mannered loner, Suff worked as a county stock clerk who allegedly delivered supplies to the task force investigating his killing spree. He liked to impersonate police officers and cooked chili at office picnics.
In fact, it was alleged that he used the breast of one of his victims in his chili, which won the "Riverside County Employee Chili Cookoff." He was also working on a book about wild, lethal dogs. He enjoyed vanity plates and was an avid volunteer in the county's car-pooling program.
Tumblr media
After the trial, the prosecutor told the foreman and four other members of the jury that they suspected Suff used the breast of one of his victims in his prize winning chili, although this was a rumor that was never verified. What is true is that this stable Jekyl-and-Hyde type offender stumped some of the nation's best crime analysts at RCSO. At one point, his job required delivering furniture to the serial killer task force investigating his crimes.
In 1997, his friend and solicitor Brian Lane released, "Cat and Mouse: Mind Games with a Serial Killer," a book containing Bill's writings, poetry, and some of his award-wining recipes. Bill also appeared on the Geraldo Rivera show from Death Row in San Quentin as part of the book's promotion.

True crime fanatic arrested in South Korea for killing, dismembering woman ‘out of curiosity’
Tumblr media
Woman’s phone reportedly reveals three months’ worth of search history on how to hide corpse
Police in the South Korean city of Busan have arrested a 23-year-old true crime fanatic woman in connection with the killing and dismembering of another.
Law enforecment authorities said they believe the killing was done out of the suspect’s “curiosity” to experience what murder felt like, according to South Korean outlet The Chosun Ilbo.
Jung Yoo-jung, 23, reportedly confessed to the killing and was indicted for murder on Friday. (2/6/23)
Tumblr media
The suspect was driven by her desire to kill someone for real after becoming “obsessed with murder from TV programmes and books,” a police spokesperson reportedly said.
Police said Ms Jung’s phone search history revealed three months’ worth of information gathering how to hide a corpse.
She had allegedly watched numerous true crime TV shows and borrowed crime books from a library, the local newspaper, one of the country’s oldest outlets, reported.
While she initially claimed to have killed the unnamed victim after an argument, Ms Jung later admitted that was a lie.Police said they are conducting tests to see if Ms Jung is a psychopath, according to Insider.

The true crime fanatic found her victim through an app that connects parents with private tutors, and presented herself to the now deceased, posing as the mother of a ninth-grader.
She reportedly went to meet the victim disguised as a student wearing a school uniform and fatally stabbed her, the report says. Then, after dismembering the victim and placing some of her body parts in a suitcase, she took a taxi and dumped rest of it in the Nakdong river to “make it look like the victim had disappeared”, according to the police.
“Jung was a loner and a recluse who has been unemployed since graduating from high school five years ago,” authorities said

Chinese foot binding
Tumblr media
Footbinding was a traditional Chinese practice involving the breaking and tight binding of young girls' feet to alter their shape and size. The resulting modified feet were referred to as "lotus feet," while the shoes designed for these feet were called "lotus shoes."
Tumblr media
In ancient China, having bound feet was regarded as a symbol of social status and feminine beauty. However, footbinding inflicted great pain, restricted women's mobility, and led to lifelong disabilities. It was not until the early 20th century that the practice began to decline due to anti-footbinding campaigns.
Tumblr media
Wealthier urban women abandoned footbinding earlier than their less privileged counterparts in rural areas. As of 2007, only a few elderly Chinese women who had experienced footbinding were still alive.

Tyler Hadley
Tumblr media
At 1:15 p.m. on July 16, 2011, Tyler Hadley, a 17-year-old living in Port St. Lucie, Florida, posted a status on Facebook: “party at my crib tonight…maybe.”
There was only one problem. Hadley’s parents were home. And since they’d recently grounded Hadley for drinking and drug use, they weren’t about to let their teenage son throw a party. Some friends knew this and were incredulous. When one asked if it was really happening, Hadley wrote back, “dk man im workin on it.”
But by 8:15 p.m., the party was on. Tyler posted again on his wall to confirm: “party at my house hmu.” When one of his friends asked, “what if your parents come home?” Hadley responded, “they won’t. trust me.”
That’s because Hadley had just murdered both his parents. When he posted on Facebook, their bodies were barely cold. And the high schooler wanted to throw a party at the crime scene.
Before inviting 60 people to his house for a party, Tyler Hadley calmly killed both his parents.
Tumblr media
Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley had worried about their son for years. They’d taken Tyler to a psychiatrist and turned to a substance abuse program for help. Nothing worked. So when Tyler drove home drunk one night, Mary-Jo took away his car and phone as punishment.
Tyler fumed. He told his best friend Michael Mandell that he wanted to kill his mom. Mandell brushed off the statement as something an angry teenager would say. He never thought Tyler would go through with it.
But on July 16, Tyler made a plan. First, he took his parents’ phones. That way, they couldn’t call for help. Then he took some ecstasy around 5 p.m. Tyler worried he couldn’t go through with his plan sober.
Hadley found a hammer in the garage. While Mary-Jo sat at the computer, Tyler stared at the back of her head for five minutes. Then, he swung the hammer.
Mary-Jo turned and screamed, “Why?”
Blake, hearing the screams, ran into the room. Blake echoed his wife’s question. Tyler shouted back, “Why the fuck not?” Then Tyler beat his father to death.
After killing his parents, Tyler Hadley dragged their bodies into their bedroom. He cleaned up the crime scene, tossing bloody towels and Clorox wipes onto the bed. Finally, he invited his friends over for a party.
Tumblr media
Tyler Hadley put out the call to come party shortly after he’d cleaned up the crime scene — right around sunset. By midnight, more than 60 people had shown up to Tyler Hadley’s house. None of them knew that the dead bodies of Hadley’s parents were in the other room.
High schoolers played beer pong in the kitchen, rubbed cigarettes into the walls, and urinated on the neighbor’s lawn.
At first, Hadley tried to stop the teens from smoking inside, but eventually, he relented. As he explained, his parents were in Orlando. Then Hadley changed his story about his parents. “They don’t live here,” he told a partygoer. “This is my house.”
Later in the night, Hadley pulled aside his best friend, Michael Mandell. “Mike, I killed my parents,” Hadley said. In disbelief, Mandell responded, “No you didn’t, Tyler. Shut up. What are you talking about?”
Hadley insisted they were dead. “Look at the driveway,” he told Mandell, “all the cars are there. My parents aren’t in Orlando. I killed my parents.”
Mandell thought it must be a prank. Then Hadley led his friend to the bedroom where he’d stashed the bodies.
“The party’s going on over here, and I turn the doorknob,” Mandell remembers. “I looked down, and I [saw] his father’s leg against the door.” Mandell suddenly realized his friend was telling the truth.
Mandell didn’t leave the party right away. In shock, he took a selfie with Hadley, figuring it would be the last time he would see his friend.
Tumblr media
Then, Mandell left the party and called Crime Stoppers to report the murders.Michael Mandell left an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 4:24 a.m. on July 17, 2011. He said that Tyler Hadley had murdered both his parents using a hammer.
Police rushed to the Hadley house. When they arrived, the party was still going on, and Hadley claimed his parents were out of town and refused to let police in the house. But they made an emergency entrance despite Hadley’s protests.
“Tyler appeared nervous, frantic, and very talkative while speaking to the officers,” according to the arrest affidavit.
The police found beer bottles all over the house. Unrolled cigars littered the floor, and the furniture had been tossed around. They also found dried blood on the walls.
When police forced open the bedroom door, they found dining chairs and a coffee table tossed on the bed. Under the furniture, they discovered the body of Blake Hadley. Nearby, they found Mary-Jo’s body.
Police arrested Tyler Hadley for murder. Three years later, a court sentenced Hadley to life in prison.
If the police hadn’t shown up, Hadley had considered taking his life. He had a stash of Percocet pills hidden in his room.
But for the time being, whether it was the ecstasy, the party, or the murder, he was feeling good. He even posted one last time on his wall at 4:40 a.m., right as police were on their way to his house: “party at my house again hmu.”
