In September last year I had the opportunity to participate in a very interesting project called Osona art i mur in an area of Catalonia that I didn't know and that I found very interesting. It never ceases to amaze me. Special thanks to the @b.murals team for inviting me and treating me so well. Thanks to all the participating artists, volunteers, to Roger for his hospitality, to Cris for his help and good chats. @xavierballaz You can follow my other Instagram account @cementeclipses for more updates. Isaac Cordal intervenes in the urban space of Osona with his figurative sculptures distributed in the municipalities involved in the festival. His interventions create a common thread and allow to outline a unified route between the different municipalities. After his walks through Prats de Lluçanès, Manlleu, Sant Bartomeu del Grau and Sant Julia, the artist identified several places, buildings and surfaces in the public space where he could then set up his pieces.With his character of a white man in a grey suit well identified, he creates ironic situations, bordering on the limits of drama with a hint of dark humour. GREEN DESERT Current forestry policy is more decorative than effective. We need a forestry policy that controls the monoculture of eucalyptus in Galicia, and northern Spain, that protects native biodiversity, that puts an end to this green, lifeless desert that has colonised our territory. The term 'green desert' came into use in Brazil in the 1980s to refer to the monoculture of trees on large tracts of land for cellulose production The current forestry policy is fuelling hell at home. These images correspond to an ephemeral installation that I made in the framework of the artistic residency that I did last September in Pontevedra. El vídeo documenta durante una semana el proceso de realización de una instalación efímera en el Centro Negra, en Blanca, Murcia . Blanca está situada en el Valle del Ricote y el río Segura atraviesa la localidad. El fango de sus orillas me sirvió como material para construir una pequeña casa: una ruina nueva como estandarte de la arqueología del abandono que acecha al rural, hoy reconvertido en la segunda residencia o el lugar de retiro de muchos europeos. Mi propuesta consistía en realizar una instalación con los materiales del lugar enfrentándolos a esas moles de cemento que asfaltan las costas del levante español y a aquello que, incluso antes de su propia construcción, ya se ha convertido en ruina. La ruina nueva, a estrenar, como una reflexión sobre los grandes mausoleos edificados en los alrededores: aeropuertos sin aviones, hoteles sin licencia en espacios protegidos, … El título de la instalación, Real homes in real Spain, alude al nombre de una inmobiliaria de Murcia, cuyo negocio está enfocado a compradores extranjeros principalmente. Con la crisis económica los precios se convirtieron en una ganga para los europeos del norte . El abandono del rural, la burbuja inmobiliaria, la especulación, la actual crisis económica … crea al segundo componente de la instalación: una pequeña escultura que representa a un real homeless (por continuar con un término inmobiliario), un sin techo, como resultado de la matemática neoliberal . On this occasion, I was working on full sale / lime size pieces. The materials that I used were branches of trees and mud that were collected on location. The Sculptures are located in a forest near Lanpinjarvi . Logistically, the project was very complex as we had to deal with situations where the temperature was below freezing (the clay was freezing whilst we worked on it), the days were also very short (at 3:00 pm it was night time), the distance we had to transport the material was very long ... we were involved in a kind of battle, but it was one of those that you appreciate being in contact with charming people and spectacular scenery. All that hard work was done in just 6 days with a great mood and aptitude to finish within the stipulated deadlines . I want to thank all the people involved in the project and for making it possible. On this occasion, I was working on full scale / life size pieces. The materials that I used were branches of trees and mud that were collected on location. The Sculptures are located in a forest near Lanpinjarvi. .
