The powerscaling talk made me remember a comment I got on my JJK fic.

Powerscaling in Jujutsu Kaisen is its own thing and my fic was absolutely not about that (it was about depression and rape and so on) so I was a little dumbfounded when that commenter suddenly started talking about? this character not realistically being able to get strong enough in the future to defeat this other character?

I saw immediately that that person came from some other corner of the internet that had nothing to do with fanfiction culture. We got into talking a little because I do work on meta analyses as well but in the end I had to spell out and explain that in a fanfic I am the god of the work and I choose who is and isn't the strongest with whatever justification I deem entertaining enough.

Of course I liked it that the person (probably male, age I couldn't tell, read two of my gen fics but not the m/m) was comfortable enough to make a comment on my fic, but really the Ao3 comment section is not the place to debate about powerscaling.

HAHAHA the day powerscaling men figure out fanfiction doesn't JUST have to be gay sex and they CAN write their own powerscaling fics is the day we have world peace
