I'm think of along the lines of idw senator shockwave before he got lobotomised. I'm kind of editing the continuity a little bit but basicly Optimus is concerned for the senators safety and so is prowl as well because he know how important having a senator on their side that is telling the truth for the most part is.

So against shockwaves and primes objection(to have faith in sw) prowl keeps tabs on the senator watching from around the corner(through his observations of him he is kinda impressed of his ability to keep his mouth shut, for a senator), until one night sw catches and confronts prowl about having a new bot vent down his spinal struts. They come to an agreement prowl will be allowed to accompany him as a type of personal guard(not a 100% on what specifically or how much distance is kept from others) any who through out this time spent close together the grow more and more attached to one more then the others dismay.

also idk senator shockwave taught prowl some of the dirty secrets of other politicians and how to find them. And prowl taught him a thing or two on a bit of self defence and how to make cyber security budge for you.

Until the inevitable happens shockwave gets skinned and all making him unreonigisable. Prowl doesn't find out till a bit later but thanks to senator shockwave he is able to get a massive boost and pull his way up through intelligence and police work(ig) and he is moving on feelings don't matter because there is a war to be won.

Eventually prowl figure out who the mad scientist used to be, but still casts away any feelings that threaten to break out of the bottles he keeps them in. Until shockwave confronts him curious of the faint memories he has of prowl and what feelings he had from his past self.

That's the basic rough idea rn :D

Prowl - Alt: Train. From cargo to passengers and prisoners Prowl is the Autobots you call when in need of under-the-radar transportation. His thoughts and feelings towards Decepticons and the war itself often get him into heated arguments. Especially with his spark brother Ratchet.

Cliffjumper - Alt: (undecided) He’s a bit too excited when it comes to battle. His over-eagerness often gets him in trouble. However, he’s strong-willed and believes deeply in the Autobot cause. He's often undermined by his size but don't let that fool you, he's stronger than he looks.

Bulkhead - Alt: (undecided) He’s often overlooked by his fellow Autobots. He's seen as clumsy and a bit dumb as well although he's smarter than people give him credit for. It's not Bulkhead’s fault everything around him isn't built to his strength. Despite his shortcomings, he's deeply loyal to his friend. He makes sure that they know just how much he cares for them, even if they don't exactly care for him.

Ironhide - Alt: (undecided) Before the war he often served as a cargo bot; loading and unloading varying items of importance. He's still trying to make sense of the war around him. He's not sure what to think of it but he knows his role, and whether or not he likes it he knows what's got to be done.
