It looks so odd without the kind of soft focus they used to connote that Sisko was in communication with the Prophets.

Back in the days before the forming of the Federation, Vulcan and Andoria were at odds with each other. Andorian agents learned everything they could about Vulcan and found out about Pon Farr. They weren't certain how to make use of this info but kept their knowledge secret in case it might come in use. After the forming of the Federation, the Andorian government decided not to disclose all they had learned about Vulcan so as not to cause tensions between 2 founding members of the Federation. But in the early 24th century, a Vulcan official insulted an Andorian official (and you know how good Vulcans are at delivering sick burns), so the Andorian government leaked the info about Pon Farr to the rest of the Federation as a form of pay back.
Ok so, in TOS Pon Farr is a big sexy secret and by VOY everybody and their EMH knows about it, so...

Happy Star Wars Day!
I’ve had this kicking around in my head ever since I saw a post about Luke having the high ground in ROTJ cross my dash some time ago.

Will I continue watching the series if more seasons come out? Sure. I like the characters and their individual quests despite the completely illogical premise. And I've never played the video game so I don't know if there are more details to come which make the backstory more logical.

Maybe this would explain why Nandor the Relentless was the powerful ruler of a country who was able to lead his army in battle but now is really quite an intellectually challenged vampire (to put it politely) because of all the centuries of drinking blood tainted with lead and other substances.
vampires have been drinking human blood for centuries they don't give a fuck about guys on eight different antidepressants. they were sucking on asbestos factory workers

This is great! Elsbeth is even more Columbo-esque than Poker Face. In both, you see the murder and then how the main character catches the murderer. But Elsbeth, like Columbo, notices all the details that don't add up to the superficial explanation of the death and then gets into a game of cat and mouse with the murderer while being wonderfully quirky at the same time.

Will there be a season 4 [of Resident Alien]? I do not know. We work for SyFy and they are not a typical network. I'm pretty sure they're a front for meth - crystal meth. We're just, you know, sort of a window dressing. So it depends on how meth sales go. -Alan Tudyk doing a quiz on Youtube for Variety (x)
The quiz was to see if he could match a quote from one of his characters to the TV show or movie it was in. The first one was, "My taint remains unchanged." No surprise that he came up with that line.

You also have the problem that information gets altered through the "telephone game" effect and then ends up on the internet. A few years ago, youtuber French Guy Alex tracked down an old copy of Escoffier's book on French cuisine and found that mayonnaise and not hollandaise was listed as one of the French mother sauces. As he put it at the time, “The whole history of French cuisine is based on a typo.“ (x)
Or take a look at bitcoin. You have all these crypto enthusiasts claiming that Satoshi Nakamoto created bitcoin because he wanted to change the existing monetary system. But that's not what he said in his white paper. At the time, monetary institutions had delays or fees for any digital transfer of funds so that they could offer fraud protection. He reasonably assumed they would never offer any fast and low fee system for digitally transferring money because then people would be facing the same risk as using physical cash in which you cannot recover your money in the event of fraud. So he created a monetary system that had no central authority. But now monetary institutions do offer services that are fast with no to low fees because that's what people want. However, the incorrect claim of why he created bitcoin is constantly repeated by people and shows up everywhere rather than the correct reason.
You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

Right after "Those Old Scientists" premiered, the producers and casts of SNW and Lower Decks expressed a desire to do another crossover ep. And it occurred to me today that Paramount has pretty much hit that possibility with a quantum torpedo with the cancellation of Lower Decks.
