Should I try to finish this story?
Tumblr media
I have noticed some unfinished projects in my Hogwarts Mystery imagines folder. While I haven't really played the game in a while, I still really like the characters and the setting.
This imagine is about Seer!MC and Barnaby. (It is not a part of 'The Curse of Being a Seer'.)
I can tell I was also trying to add some characters like Talbott and Jae who haven't really been in my imagines yet (or haven't appeared often in my imagines).

The Trickster and her secrets (fem!Slytherin reader x Charlie Weasley)
Masterlist (To view my Masterlist, visit my Tumblr page)
Words: 12.5k
Summary: Things are not what they seem around you. You know how to get what you want from others. A few people seem to look through you, but it only bothers you when one of them looks through you. That one person is Charlie Weasley... Pairing: fem!Slytherin reader x Charlie Weasley
Extra information: The reader is an Animagus, who can turn into a fox. _______________________________________________________ Some would call you smart; another person would just call you a psychopath. Honestly, you didn’t seem to care. You wanted to become someone. You didn’t want to be living in your brother’s shadow forever. Still, some may argue the way you were going was much better than the path your brother chose. You were basically the master of manipulating others. You would do anything to achieve success. No one would get in the way of that. What did you have to lose anyways? People already had low expectations of you because of your Jacob. Not to mention, your parents had been pretty much cold towards you ever since you were born. It was your grandfather who helped you out with becoming an Animagus, giving you a way to escape. You learned most of your tricks from him.
Now, your grandfather was gone and you had no family who you felt connected to. Summers usually involved running away from home. You would turn into a fox, occasionally stealing away food from unsuspecting Muggles or other ways to survive. Whenever you came home, your parents didn’t even miss you. It didn’t matter how much money the family had. Home was bearable when Jacob was still returning home from Hogwarts every holiday and summer. No one was there for you. No one knew how things were at your home. The things you told others were basically lies. Perhaps they knew something was up, but they never asked anything about it. What did it matter anyways? You were Y/N Y/L/N. It wasn’t like they actually wanted to be friends with you, right?
Perhaps you had friends, but you were scared to tear down that wall between you and them. This was the safest. Luckily you weren’t born with the Legilimency trait, that would only make things worse. You couldn’t imagine anyone thinking something positive about you. The only one you didn’t make friends with during your search was Charlie Weasley. Perhaps Bill was careful as well around you. The two of them didn’t seem to fall for your way of talking.
It kind of irritated you when Charlie didn’t seem to like you. At first it was a little annoying, now it just made you give less of the fake smiles. It made you a lot more honest around him. At least, the irritation was apparent. You weren’t sure whether he liked it when you were more honest or made him act more irritated as well. You were aware Rowan knew you didn’t like Charlie, but you were certain some more people would know about it as well. Bill probably knew about it too from Charlie. It was certain the two of you were not getting along great. Still, he occasionally helped you. Probably Bill’s work.
As time went on, you honestly weren’t sure whether you actually hated Charlie or if something else was going on. The boy managed to make you feel so much more than most people did. You nearly lost your temper because of him. How could someone like him make you do that? She didn’t understand why he could see right through her. It made her feel vulnerable and weak. She was taught that smiles made people happy, even when you weren’t happy yourself. It would help people with loosening up and you could achieve more. Of course, those were the words of your grandfather, who was known for his charisma and charm. He wasn’t an honest man either. You didn’t know what his reasons were, but you felt like you and your grandfather had different motives to be the way you were. He gave you ways to escape and make things a little more pleasant. The only person that seemed to be proud of you and smiled at you during your childhood. Your parents would only smile and laugh if they could laugh at someone else’s misery, even yours.
“Miss Y/L/N, while your grades are very good, I know you aren’t putting too much effort into things.” Professor Snape, giving you a stern look. “I believe we have talked about this last year as well.”
“I am trying my best, Professor. Besides, you just said my grades are very good, so there isn’t really a problem, right?” You said, tilting your head a bit with a small smile.
Professor Snape rubbed the bridge of his nose, as if he was about to get a headache from talking to you. “We all know you can do better than this. You are lucky you are cunning enough to fool most people, but not me.”
You sighed softly. Great, another one who saw through her. “Then what do you want me to do, Professor? I believe I have proven myself I am not as ‘incapable’ as my brother was during your classes.” You said honestly with another fake smile on your face. “I have worked really hard during your classes. I may not be on Penny’s level when it comes to brewing potions, but I am not bad either.”
“Yes… You have proven that. Still, try to put a bit more effort into other subjects as well. It wouldn’t hurt your grades for your O.W.L.s, miss Y/L/N.”
“Does that mean I am free to go again?”
“Yes.”
“Alright. Thank you, Professor. Have a pleasant day.” You said with a sweet fake smile before leaving.
Ugh, of course Professor Snape didn’t fall for your tricks. You wouldn’t be surprised either if Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore didn’t fall for your tricks either. Most others seem to fall for your tricks and charms. It worked for Professor Flitwick, Sprout, Quirrell, Trelawney, Kettleburn and Sinistra for sure.
You needed to unwind. You felt like that would be the only way to feel better like yourself. It was hard to keep smiling when you were irritated by something. Perhaps you could get in the forest. Maybe you could just have some fun walking around as a fox. It made things less complicated, that’s for sure.
Instead of going to do something productive like Professor Snape probably wanted, you went to the Forest. Of course, you made certain you weren’t seen by Hagrid. It wouldn’t be the first time you went into the forest without permission and you felt like Hagrid would be too honest to not tell anyone about it. It would be best to not be seen by anyone at all. Being around your friends would even be hard now. You needed some alone time. You were mostly surrounded by other people and it sometimes made you feel exhausted. Even more secluded places were sometimes occupied and the Forest wasn’t really a spot most people wanted to go to.
Except for one person…
“Look what we have here, another trespasser.” You said, seeing the redhead you did not want to see. “How come you always end up in places where I wanted to go, Charles?”
Charlie rolled his eyes at you. “First, I don’t know why you and I often end up in the same place and second, don’t call me, Charles.”
“You want me to call you Charlie like everyone else? You and I both know I don’t see you like everyone else. Besides, Charles sounds very proper.” You said with a small smirk. “I suppose I should go further in the Forest. That way there would be enough distance between us.” You said, dropping the smirk.
“It seems like you show your true colours around me, Y/N. At least you stopped lying right in my face.” Charlie said, looking a bit annoyed.
“I am glad we understand each other so well. Why would I even smile around you anyways? The only thing that could make you excited is a dragon.” You said with a huff. “Besides, it is not like I am hurting anyone you care about.”
Charlie narrowed his eyes. “That doesn’t make you a better person.”
“Who said I was a better person? I am certainly not here to compete against you or anything.” You said before walking off in a certain direction.
“You really shouldn’t go that way.”You turned around to face Charlie. “Why not?”
“There are many Acromantulas in that area.” He said honestly.“I didn’t know you cared about my safety.” You said slightly amused. “Don’t worry, Weasley. I can handle it. It’s not like I have never been here.” You gave him a wink before walking into that direction anyways.
“Hey! You really shouldn’t go in there, not during this time!” Charlie said, following you.
You gritted your teeth a little. Why would he even bother? It didn’t make any sense to you. You continued walking, ignoring him. Eventually he just stepped in front of you, blocking your way.
“Merlin, can you be even more annoying than you are now? I can handle this just fine!” You said, feeling a little surprised you were about to lose your temper.
“I am just trying to prevent you from getting in unnecessary danger!” Charlie seemed to lose his cool as well. “Do you want your friends to worry about you? Because you clearly don’t care about heading into danger.”
“Oh, just leave me alone, will you! Don’t you dare to lecture me about this. You probably have headed into the Forbidden Forest more times than you have entered the fucking library!” You yelled. Wow, that sounded strange. You hadn’t yelled in years. The mask you made has fallen apart. He was the first one to witness raw emotions.
“Just go in another direction than that one and I will just let you go.” Charlie seemed to be determined to keep you away from that direction.
“What is that?” You said, pointing at something to distract Charlie. Once Charlie looked away, you began to shift into a fox and began running past Charlie.
“Y/N!” You heard him say in the distance, but you didn’t care. You needed to go away.
After a little while, you shifted back into your regular form. You walked over to one of the trees and leaned your back against it. Eventually you slid down the tree, beginning to hug your knees. Not only had you lost your temper around him, you also showed him you were an Animagus. Could this day turn out to be even worse than it already was?
You noticed tears were rolling down your cheeks. You put your hands to your cheeks, seeing you were actually crying. You rubbed them away and tried to make it stop, but you just couldn’t. All those emotions you had tried to repress for so long, they all had come out at once. Always trying to be cool and charming, it was all fake. You weren’t perfect, you didn’t feel confident… It was all a big lie. Just to feel like you were more than Jacob’s sibling, more than just nothing in the eyes of your parents.
“Jacob mastered his Legilimency.” Your mother said one day during dinner.
“Yes, Jacob seems to be very talented. His professors seem to say good things about him. He always was talented.” Your father replied.
“You are getting a bit behind, dear. Jacob managed to do more than you can do when he was your age.” Your mother said to you.
“Grandfather said I am doing pretty good.” You replied softly.
“Your grandfather is just sparing your feelings; you are probably doing just average.” Your mother laughed softly.
“Or he is just losing his touch…” Your father grumbled.
You hated them so much. Oh, Jacob was so talented and they made it clear you were not. You were just there. It still pisses you off. When Jacob disappeared, they made it clear the name Jacob was forbidden. It always surprised you how easily they gave up on Jacob. Even with him gone, they didn’t care about you.
You shook your head a bit, trying to get a grip on yourself. How could you lose your cool like this? This never happened at school before. Perhaps you just couldn’t handle two people looking right through you. Although, you could deal with Snape. Charlie was a different case for sure. You weren’t sure how he managed to make you feel all kinds of things. You weren’t even sure why you began dropping your mask around him. The person you just couldn’t get along with after trying your best to make them like you just didn’t buy your act.
Sure, you didn’t get along with everyone, like Merula. But you didn’t even bother with her after she began spreading more lies about your brother and your sanity. You knew you probably had said many hurtful things back to her. Of course, it seemed to lack malice, you knew they weren’t nice. You could say them with a smile, as if you were joking. That didn’t make it better.
Perhaps everyone knew you weren’t always one of the nicest people. You could charm people with nice words, but you were also using your words well enough to passively insult others. Only your friends were spared from any bad words. While you kept some distance from them and you felt like they may leave you at any time. You lied to them occasionally, especially when you were talking about family. You tried to distract them with other things and just charm your way through things. Your life was just a big lie created by yourself, to stop feeling hurt.
“Who cares what they are thinking of me? It doesn’t matter… I just need to prove myself and show them I am better than Jacob. I… I want grandpa to be proud of me…” You said softly to yourself, trying to make you stop crying.
You froze when you noticed a shadow was coming closer to you. No, not one shadow, multiple ones. Perhaps you should have listened to Charlie. You slowly got back on your feet, noticing about four Acromantulas making their way over to you. This wasn’t looking too good for you. You would have to run quickly! Once again you began to shift into a fox.
You felt like you would be harder to hit if you were smaller and most likely quicker. You tried to find your way back. However, the Acromantulas didn’t give up so easily on their prey. You could feel the adrenaline. It helped you with running away as fast and as long as you could, but they weren’t slow creatures either.
You nearly avoided them attacking you, but you tripped. You began rolling down a hill, eventually hitting a tree with your back. You felt you were shifting back into your regular self and slowly tried to get back up. You hissed, feeling pretty hurt. You felt like you weren’t safe yet. You tried to move as quickly as possible, but you were much slower.
Suddenly you felt like you were pulled aside by something….
You wanted to scream, but you felt a hand cover your mouth when you did. Your heart was racing and kind of wanted to just kick your way out of there.
That was until she heard a familiar voice whisper something. “Stay low for a moment… They may not be able to see us here.”
You tried to turn around a little, seeing Charlie once more. Did he go looking for you? Why would he even do such a thing for you? You did what he told you to do, not making any sound. You still felt your heart racing, still feeling scared. You could probably handle one Acromantula, maybe two. Four was definitely too many to face at once. You would probably end up dead.
Charlie had removed his hand from your mouth and was definitely staying alert for the time being. He was listening for any sounds, holding his wand in one hand in case they sneaked up on you.
After a while, Charlie slightly began to move, checking the area once more before moving away from the spot you had been hiding. “Come on… Let’s get away from this area. It is invested with Acromantulas this time of the year.”
You were hesitant to move after what happened. You may have witnessed the horrors of the Cursed Vaults, but this was a horrifying moment too.
Charlie suddenly just grabbed your arm pulling you along with him after seeing you weren’t about to move.
You were about to say something about it, but nothing seemed to come out of your mouth at this moment. Honestly, you felt pretty pathetic.
Once you were back in the clearing you had first seen each other, Charlie let go of your arm and just looked at you. “Do you understand why I said you shouldn’t go to that side of the forest now?”
“....” You looked away a little.
“If you had listened to me, you would have known it was their mating season. Acromantulas tend to get pretty aggressive if other people or creatures are around.” Charlie muttered, shaking his head. “Honestly, are you trying to get yourself killed out there? Four Acromantulas could have easily killed you!”
You felt yourself getting smaller when he talked about it some more. He was basically scolding  you for what happened.
“It’s a good thing you turned yourself into  a fox, because it probably made it harder for them to target y-....” He stopped talking and looked slightly confused. “Are you… are you crying?”
You blinked, once again feeling your cheeks were covered in tears. You quickly turned away from him in embarrassment.
“Did you get hurt?” He asked, slowly stepping towards you.
“I… I am fine… I just need a minute.” You said softly, trying to get once more a grip on yourself, trying to take deep breaths. “You… you can laugh if you want… I probably look pathetic now.”
“Laugh? Why would I laugh at you for this? What kind of person do you think I am?” Charlie sounded a little shocked.
“Someone who hates my guts?” You mumbled softly, rubbing your eyes some more. “Merula would probably have laughed or anyone else…”
“Y/N… I…” He shook his head a bit, not sure what to say right now. “I do not hate you. I just don’t like the fact you are constantly lying or being dishonest around other people. You put this major wall around yourself, like no one even knows who you are. Not to mention, the many fake smiles you put up. It’s a bit scary.”
“I just don’t know who you are and whether you can be trusted because of that. You know how people work and how they could help you, but do you even care about others? It is really hard to tell…” Charlie admitted.
“... That makes sense.” You said softly. “I… I don’t know who I am either sometimes.”
“Does someone force you to just hide everything from everyone?” He asked.
“No… maybe… It’s complicated.” You mumbled softly, before slowly looking back at Charlie again. “I can’t talk about this… Not now. I don’t know if I ever can. So please… Stop asking.” You were basically pleading.
“...Fine. Let’s get you out of here though. I don’t think you should probably stay here much longer.” He said softly.
___________________________  Charlie noticed some changes in you after that day in the Forbidden Forest. You seemed to put down that mask around your friends more often. It was like he was getting glimpses of the real Y/N. Although, he could also see you struggling occasionally.
Every time the two of you ended up at the same place, it just felt different. You seemed to get less and less irritated by him and he felt less irritated by your behaviour. You were probably still the most honest around him. While you would still make remarks, it felt more like banter than anything else.
“Dragons again? I would have thought you would be thinking about the last Quidditch match before Christmas. It wouldn’t be fun if you would just let my house win the Quidditch cup.” You told him at the Great Hall. “Or at least think about how you will survive Christmas this year.
Charlie rolled his eyes at you. “Don’t worry about the Quidditch cup, I won’t make it easy for the Slytherin team at all. Also, I doubt you will try to kill me during Christmas. I still don’t know why Bill thought it was a good idea to invite you over from Christmas this year.”
“Ah, luckily, I don’t give a damn about the Quidditch cup. I would rather root for Andre. Maybe even for you if I feel like it.” You said with a shrug. “Oh, I believe Bill overheard me when I said I haven’t celebrated Christmas in ages. I kind of celebrate it here at Hogwarts, but it is not really the same.”
“I feel honoured you would maybe root for me as a Slytherin.” Charlie said amused, shaking his head a bit. “Ah, so he felt bad for you? Well, maybe if you are nice, you will get a nice little gift from me too.”
“Well, I’d rather root for friends than just some people I don’t know.” You said honestly. “I can’t promise you that. It is hard to not tease you from time to time. You can always give me some coal like Muggles do with bad children.”
“I suppose I should consider giving you that for Christmas.” He chuckled, before he suddenly looked a little off guard. “Wait... You see me as a friend?”
You gulped softly. “Well… I  thought… If you don’t want to be…”
“No…!” Charlie looked mostly confused at the moment.
“Oh… I see.” You said softly, feeling a bit disappointed.
“No, no! I don’t mean I don’t want to be friends with you. It just surprised me.” He quickly said. “I am sorry, I didn’t mean to make you think I did not want to befriend you.”
“It’s okay, I mean, I haven’t been the nicest to you. I would have understood if you didn’t want to be friends. I just thought… We seemed to be getting along better, so I thought this could be the time to start a real friendship. Thanks to you, I feel much closer to our other friends. I want us to move on from that moment I just… Was plain mean to you.” You rubbed your arm a little.
“Well… I forgive you for your past behaviour. The time we have spent together is definitely more pleasant. Although, your way of teasing…”
“Oh shit… I am sorry, did I say something too mean?”
“Nah, I was just messing with you.” He winked. You let out a fake gasp.
“How dare you!”
“Let’s say it is payback time.” He said amused.
“Well… That’s only fair.” You said with a nod, giving him a smile.
Charlie was certain that was the nicest smile you had ever given or at least… The nicest smile you had given him. ___________________________  Christmas at the Burrow was definitely great. Charlie could tell you were pretty nervous at first, putting on that mask first, but she slowly let her guard down. His mum made sure you felt welcomed. You seemed to get along with everyone quite nicely. You didn’t try to be this perfect and cool person you pretended to be at first. You didn’t need to charm your way through things all the time. You felt much more relaxed and at ease.
You went to bed early Christmas evening. You said you didn’t want to wake up Ginny, so went to bed around the same time as she did. Honestly, you just thought it was the right thing to do. Also, you felt pretty tired from all the socializing and new people. It took quite some energy to let your guard down. It worked, but you knew it was still hard to do.
“Such a nice girl. It was definitely the right decision to invite her over.” Molly said. “You said she didn’t really celebrate Christmas with her family for a while, right Bill?”
“Yeah, she said they stopped celebrating it after Jacob’s disappearance.” Bill said with a nod.
“Really? After Jacob’s disappearance?” Charlie asked, tilting his head a bit.
“That’s what she said. Apparently, the family didn’t feel like celebrating anything at that point anymore.” Bill said with a shrug.
“I have always wondered how things were at the Y/L/N family. From what I have heard, they were pretty prestigious. They were often praising their son. I barely heard anything about Y/N before she went to attend Hogwarts with you.” Molly said honestly.
Charlie frowned a little. “So Jacob was always praised and Y/N wasn’t?”
“I wouldn’t know that. I just thought it was strange they barely mentioned her name.” Molly said, not wanting to make any conclusions.
Bill shook his head a bit. “Well, I am just glad she will have a nice holiday this year. Probably better than to be alone. I believe no one was staying at Hogwarts this year. At least none of our friends were.”
“Merula would probably have stayed, but she and Y/N are definitely not meant to stay Christmas alone at Hogwarts.” Charlie shook his head a bit with a grin.
“Well, you and Y/N weren’t really getting along either until early this year.” Bill said honestly with a grin. “She definitely changed a bit too after you two began getting along. In a positive way.”
“Really? You two didn’t get along at first?” Molly asked, looking surprised.
“We constantly got on each other’s nerves at first. We had talked a bit and that seemed to help.” Charlie said, leaving the part of the Forbidden Forest out of it. He wasn’t going to talk to his mum about it.
“Well, I am glad you two talked to each other. You seem to get along pretty well from what I have seen.” Molly said with a smile. “You wouldn’t happen to fan-”
“Mum!” Charlie looked embarrassed. At least you weren’t there to hear it.
“What? It could happen, even to you.” She said honestly.
“That doesn’t mean I just…” Charlie shook his head a bit. “Let’s not talk about this now. What if she came back downstairs and heard this?”
“Well… Alright. What about you Bill, have you met anyone yet?” ___________________________  “What are you doing outside? Aren’t you feeling cold?”
You turned around, seeing Charlie standing there. "I just wanted some fresh air."
"Without your coat?" He held up your coat, shaking his head with a small grin. "Honestly, are you trying to freeze to death?"
You snatched your coat from him and put it on with a small grin. “Give me a break. I didn’t even notice the cold before you said something.” You put on your coat and just looked at him.
“Be glad I said something or you would have turned into an ice sculpture .”
“Sounds fun. You could probably enter some ice sculpture contest if I did turn into one.”
Charlie shook his head once more. “Well, since you are outside, perhaps you would like to just walk around for a bit.”
“That doesn’t sound too bad.” You said honestly. “Gives me some more room to tease you.”
“Oh? You don’t feel like you can do that indoors?” He said with a grin.
“Well, not as much as I like to. Besides, some people may misinterpret our bantering for something else.” You shrugged.
“Still making sure you don’t look bad in front of others, do you?”
“Of course, it’s not like I can completely change that. I mean, I haven’t really been really ‘dishonest’, have I?”
“No, you have been pretty genuine these days.” Charlie said honestly.
“Good, I mean, that’s what you wanted, right? Making sure you would actually know the real me?” You said with a grin.
“I hope you haven’t only done this for me….”
You snorted. “You would wish I did.” You shook your head a bit. "You did help me with getting in the right direction."
Charlie kept walking around with you. You both didn’t say much after what you said. It didn’t really feel awkward though. It somehow didn’t really matter. You felt pretty at peace and Charlie didn’t seem to mind it either.“
You must have had a really nice childhood at home.” You suddenly said, breaking the silence.
“Well, it can be hectic sometimes, but I love my family. Even when some of them can get on my nerves from time to time.” He said with a chuckle.
“Must be nice.” You said honestly. “Very different from my childhood.”
Charlie looked at you, seeing this look on your face he just couldn’t describe. It did give him some negative vibes though. It was almost like an empty expression, like you didn’t show anything, but your eyes basically said enough. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“I kind of want to, but at the same time I feel like I can’t.” You said, shaking your head a bit before giving him a sad smile. “Maybe another time I will be able to.”
“Alright, I won’t force you to talk about it. It is up to you when and who you want to talk to about this.” He said honestly.
“.... Sounds good.” You nodded a bit before you took a deep sigh. “I know I came up with this topic myself, but can you change the subject? Anything will be great.”
“Anything?”
“Yes, anything.”
“How about… Dragons?”
You snorted a bit. “Fine, talk about those dragons. Thanks to you, I probably know more about dragons than I probably should know at this point.”
“But they are pretty fascinating, aren’t they?”
“Very fascinating, Charlie.” ___________________________  The holidays were over. That meant you had to go back to Hogwarts. You definitely had a great time at the Weasley’s and thanked them multiple times for letting you stay over for the holidays. It was nice to be around a family like them. You were really surprised when you even received a jumper from Mrs. Weasley. You knew that was going to be a part of your lounging outfit during winter.
Back at Hogwarts, things slowly got back to normal. Well, as normal as life could be for you. Things were still a mess, but you were dealing with it. You occasionally put on this mask, especially around people you just didn’t trust. It was just hard to get rid of an old habit. Still, you also didn’t feel like fighting everyone who got in your way. Merula often got on your nerves, although not as much as she used to. Only Charlie had managed to break that mask. If he didn’t, you probably wouldn’t be friends with him now. You probably wouldn’t have gotten any closer to your friends either. It was sometimes scary, but your friends hadn’t disappointed you or betrayed your trust.
Sometimes you were wondering how you and Charlie became such good friends. You just felt closer to him than anyone else. He made you feel things you didn’t think you would be capable of. You kept teasing him and he just began teasing you back. However, you found yourself around Charlie a lot these days. You couldn’t really figure out what it was about Charlie that made you keep going to him. You almost wondered whether you were put under some spell that made you keep thinking about him.
“Sounds like you have fallen for him.”
If you had been drinking water, you would have spit it out. You looked at Rowan with almost a disgusted look. Fallen? For Charlie? That just sounded weird. “You must have understood me wrong, Rowan. Fallen for Charlie… Ha! What a joke!”
Rowan gave you an apologetic smile. “Well, what you describe to me just sounds like it… Not to mention, I am pretty sure I heard Penny and Andre talking about it.”
You huffed. “Honestly, it is almost like they want to make up silly rumours about me. Come on, there are already enough rumours about me, I don’t need more.”
“I am pretty sure that is not what they want…” Rowan said honestly. “Although, you do spend so much more time with Charlie these days… People just start to wonder.”
“Charlie and I are just friends. Things just seem less complicated around him.”
“So, you feel at ease around Charlie?”
“Yes, I feel at ease around him.” You rolled your eyes. “I am not in love with him!”
"Whatever you say, Y/N." Rowan said, shaking their head a bit.
You sighed softly, feeling like you were about to facepalm yourself. Rowan was wrong. You just felt at ease around Charlie, you felt free around him. You could just be yourself around him. While you could be much more open around your friends, it didn’t feel as comfortable as it did around Charlie.
"I am just happy Charlie has had a good influence on you." Rowan suddenly said.
"What do you mean?" You tilted your head a bit.
“Well, you are much more open these days. I am happy you are trusting us." They said with a smile. "You used to be much harder to read and I wasn't always sure what to do. I felt like you were kind of trapped, but I didn't know how I could help you. Whatever Charlie did, it helped you out."
You grinned a bit. “Well… I am glad about that too.” You admitted. “I thought it would be more... scary, you know? Being more open. It still is scary, but not as much as I expected.”
“I think you are doing really well. Our friends seem to be happy about it.” They said with a smile.
“I still think it would be hard to do around strangers or people I do not know well.”
“That’s okay, you just need to warm up to these people, at least the one you feel like you can trust.”
“I suppose so... “
“Just set up smaller goals. That way you feel like you have achieved more things than you thought. It helps you keep track of your progress.”
“That may work.”
___________________________  “Jae probably thinks I am a robot.” You groaned softly when you sat down next to Charlie in the Great Hall again.
“Why do you think so?” Charlie asked, raising an eyebrow.
“That fake smile kept creeping up my face the entire time. I wasn’t sure whether Jae was creeped out or entertained by it.”
“Jae probably thought it was funny. I mean, you are trying your best. You don’t know Jae that well yet, right?”
“I know Jae mostly from detentions… I may have asked for some supplies too for ‘you know what I mean’.” You mumbled, not wanting to mention the Vaults.
“Look at it this way. You are trying much earlier than you tried with us all, that’s something.”
“Is that supposed to make me feel better about my behaviour? Because it sounds like I have been a horrible friend to everyone.”
“That’s not what I mean and you know it, Y/N.” Charlie said with a small frown.
“Yes, yes, I know…. I am just frustrated.” You sighed. “Maybe I should let Jae follow me into the Forbidden Forest with some Acromantulas…”
“Y/N, I swear….” Charlie pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment. “If it was up to me, you would never get near the Acromantulas again. At least, not alone.”
“Are you afraid I would freeze up again? I can handle one Acromantula, I have learnt the perfect spell for it.” You said with a grin. “I have to admit, I was really off guard at that moment.”
“As someone who goes to the Forbidden Forest occasionally, I think you should only go there if you need to be there. There is no need to get yourself in danger for no reason.”
“So it’s okay if you are putting yourself in danger, but not if it is me?” You raised an eyebrow.
"Well… I have more experience than you have when it comes to the Forbidden Forest."
You rolled your eyes, thinking the redhead’s ears were turning a little red. "Hypocrite." You mumbled amused.
"I don't like seeing you walk into danger for no reason." Charlie said, rubbing his arm a bit.
“Considering I have been looking for the Cursed Vaults, I think I have been walking into danger quite often.”
“Still, that’s no reason to put yourself in unnecessary danger.” Charlie just shook his head.
“Wow, you begin to sound so much like Bill now.”
Charlie’s eyes widened. “What? I do not!”
“Yes, you do. Very concerned about all of us and he tries to be strict with us when we do or are about to do something wrong.” You said with a small smirk on your face. “It could be worse, of course. You don’t keep telling me about the rules like Percy would do.”
“I don’t see what you are talking about.” Charlie began to look annoyed. “Bill and I are not the same.”
“I am just saying, you are acting like him when we are talking about-”
“Bloody hell, Y/N…! I am just trying to look after you!” Charlie stood up, looking like he was about to get mad. “You know what? Do whatever you want. Clearly you don’t care what happens to you.” He grumbled before walking away.
You blinked in surprise by his reaction. You thought you were just joking around? Did you really offend him? You wanted to say you were sorry, but instead you stood up as well. “Maybe I will...!”
He didn’t even turn around when you said that. You sat back down again, fuming you had made Charlie go away like this. Of course, it wasn’t the first time you two argued, but still…
You felt angry with yourself. The longer you kept thinking about it, the angrier you became. So, you just grabbed your stuff and stormed out of the Great Hall to go back to the Slytherin Common room.
___________________________ “Wow, what is your problem, Y/L/N? Did you finally snap and go mad like your brother?” Merula said with a smirk when you had entered the dormitory. Of course she had to be here when she wanted to dump some stuff on your bed.
“Yes, should I infect you with my madness now?” You gave her a sarcastic look before roughly pulling out some books out of your bag. Rowan would probably have scolded you if she saw how you were throwing your books on the bed like that.
“Damn… Whoever made you act like this should probably be armed.” Merula muttered, definitely trying to anger you more.
“Maybe you should shut your damn mouth or it is you who should be armed.” You snapped at her, not wanting to deal with her.Merula rolled her eyes and ignored you after that.
You grabbed a notebook and put it in the bag. After that you quickly left the dormitory. You passed Liz and Barnaby, but you needed to calm down and couldn’t talk to them.
You weren’t sure how many people you had seen, but you didn’t care. You needed to be away from people. Once again, Charlie had made you feel so many things at once. Honestly, everyone could say shit about you and you wouldn’t care. If Charlie said something, you reacted so strongly.
You kept walking until you reached the edge of the forest. You weren’t thinking clearly anymore and transformed into a fox, pulling the bag along with you. At least no one would bother you in the Forbidden Forest. The trees seemed to be passing by and you had not paid any attention to where you were going. The only thing on your mind was to keep moving. You didn’t care about anything else but going anyway.
This was what you were good at. Running away, like always. The way how you would simply spend the summers away from home. It was just like that. You were nothing special to your family. You would always remain in Jacob’s shadow to your parents. They would only be disappointed. They didn’t give you any attention nor did they care whether they saw you or not during the summers.
“It doesn’t matter, child. They wouldn’t care if you performed advanced magic or anything. My son only wanted Jacob to have an heir.” Your grandfather told you. “Until they have found the perfect match for you to connect our family to a better one, you will basically be invisible.”
“Is it because I am a girl?”
“I believe so… You won’t be able to carry our name when you marry. Therefore, they want to make connections with other rich and influential families. You are basically a tool to get them more connections.”
“So, I have no say in what happens to me?”
“I am afraid not. Unless you leave you won’t have a choice. Still, you wouldn’t leave this old man without someone to teach, would you?”
“... Where could I go anyways?”
“I have been in your situation. I was the youngest of the family. They told me I was an accident, so most care went into my older brothers. Still, that didn’t stop me from trying to become the best and eventually… I did become the best of all my brothers. I may not have acted like it, but I was quite bitter to my parents for how they raised me.”
“So, it would be possible to be better than Jacob?”
“In theory, yes. While Jacob has definitely talent, being able to become a Legilimens at an early age, I think you would be capable of great things as well.”
“Like what?”
“Tell me, Y/N. How familiar are you with the term Animagus?”
Oh, you remembered studying for hours with your grandfather, trying to know everything about Animagi. You never talked about it with your parents though. You also studied other things with your grandfather you were allowed to talk about, but your parents didn’t think it was good enough. Jacob seemed to like it though, but was often silenced by your father who rather heard Jacob talking about his studies.
You loved Jacob, but you hated living in his shadow. He was your older brother and he was supposed to be there for you. Then he was gone… Only your grandfather was there for you, only to die soon after. You were on your own, trying to remember everything your grandfather had taught you.
“It is better to keep things to yourself sometimes. Don’t share negative thoughts and be positive. Keep smiling and use the nicest words you can think of. That’s the key to gaining people’s trust.” Your grandfather told you when he was teaching you his way. “I didn’t become successful by speaking up my mind every time. Just think of it as twisting the words the right way. It will make you sound much more intelligent.”
“So I can’t be honest?”
“People don’t like listening to the negative aspects of life. In order to gain power, you need to be liked by everyone.”
“But my parents-”
“They are not the ones worth your time. Figure out what people you need in order to reach your goals. Do your parents help you with that?”
“No…”
“Exactly.”
At the time, your grandfather’s lessons seemed to be helpful. You managed to set your plan in motion when you were old enough to go to Hogwarts. Now, you didn't know if this plan was actually helpful or just made you unable to form actual relations with your peers. You couldn’t be open with them in the beginning. Charlie was the first one not to buy the things you said to please him. He was the one who broke the mask and slowly got your true self out of you.
You shifted back to your human form and stared at the ground. You kept walking slowly, not looking up.
Charlie….
The one who helped you out so much the past year. The one who reassured you when you were having doubts and the one who would hold up a mirror to your behaviour… He kept helping you, while you just did things that potentially hurt his feelings. You felt like an asshole. You probably were an asshole. You walked over to a tree and leaned your back against it. You slowly slid down and hugged your knees once you were on the ground.
You wanted to blame your upbringing for this all, but would that be fair? You felt like you could have done something yourself to change more…
___________________________
Charlie sighed when he was making his way to the Great Hall. He hadn't seen you after you two were basically yelling at each other. He knew he probably reacted a bit too harsh himself. Still, he hated being compared to Bill. Just like you hated being compared to Jacob. Perhaps he was just triggered when you said he acted like Bill. He just wanted to make sure you weren't doing anything dangerous.
You had made a good point about him going into the Forbidden Forest often. Still, he couldn’t help it but to be worried about you. He was quite fond of you and didn't want you to get hurt. He definitely had to talk to you. It wasn’t the first time you two argued, although it felt like a long time ago… Perhaps most arguments didn’t end up in basically yelling at each other either. He would have to admit, it felt different this time.
Charlie stopped walking when he heard two familiar voices. He could swear he heard them say your name.
"What do you mean Y/N didn't come back to the dormitory last night?" Penny asked Rowan, who looked concerned.
"She never entered the Slytherin dormitory. I don’t even know if she entered the common room. She wasn't there for dinner either." Rowan looked nervous.
"Have you talked to Barnaby and Liz? Maybe they have seen her…?"
"Liz did say Y/N was looking quite pissed yesterday… Merula also made some comments about it. No one has seen Y/N since yesterday."
"Hold up, Y/N hasn't been seen since yesterday?" Charlie made his way over to Rowan and Penny. He definitely heard enough.
"Charlie, have you seen her?" Rowan asked, looking a bit more hopeful, thinking he knew more.
"No, not today at least." He answered, rubbing the back of his neck. "We may have had a little argument yesterday…"
Penny frowned. "A little argument…?"
"Okay, I think we're both pretty pissed afterwards…" He admitted.
"So, that would explain what Liz had seen and Merula's reaction… Still, that isn’t going to help us find Y/N. Where would she be?" Rowan continued to look worried. "She wouldn't have run away, would she?"
Charlie thought about the argument. He became a little pale when he thought about a place where you could be. "She wouldn't… would she?"
"What? Charlie, what wouldn’t she do?" Rowan asked.
Without a word Charlie began running away from Rowan and Penny.
"Charlie!" Penny yelled after him, watching him disappear through the crowd. "Great… He may know where she is, but what if he needs help?"
"Let’s go to Bill…" Rowan suggested. The two went off to find Bill.
___________________________
Charlie had been running in the Forbidden Forest immediately once he made his way outdoors. He just knew you would probably go there. It was the place you two were discussing before he stormed off.
“You know what? Do whatever you want. Clearly you don’t care what happens to you.”
“Maybe I will..!”
Perhaps saying that to you was just one of the stupidest things he could have done. You were stubborn, especially when he was around. You weren’t afraid to go against him. You probably took his words to heart.
Charlie stopped running for a moment, trying to figure out where you could have gone to. He had to figure it out before whatever out there was going to hurt you or worse, kill you. There were many possibilities to die in the Forbidden Forest. Not all Magical Creatures would immediately kill someone, but if you did something unexpected… Well, he didn’t want to think about it. The last time you ran away from him, you ended up facing four Acromantulas.
“That could have ended up worse than it already did, Y/N.”
Charlie blinked when he heard your name once more. It sounded pretty familiar.
“... Lucky me.”
“Honestly, what were you doing sleeping out here? You are quite aware of the dangers in the forest.”
“Avoiding the dangers of being completely shattered mentally in the castle.”
Charlie made his way closer to the voices. He didn’t get too close, seeing you and Torvus. He grimaced when he looked at you. You didn’t look too good. You seemed to have some wounds and looked considerably pale. Your arms and hands seemed to be covered in scratches and you seemed to have a wound on your head.
“Maybe people are right about me. I am mad ‘like Jacob’. I can’t even behave like a normal being. Wherever I go, I cause problems.” You sounded annoyed with yourself. “I have tried so hard to get liked by saying the right things, I barely know who I am. It was like it became my personality. The things my grandfather taught me were wrong, so wrong. I am getting more and more aware how fucked up I have become because of following his ways. It’s honestly pathetic. I wouldn’t have blamed you if you had not helped me out back there.”
“The stars definitely tell me it is not your time yet. Besides, you have helped me a couple of times. It was no trouble helping you out.” Torvus said. “The ways you were taught were twisted, but it seemed to have helped you a little. It’s up to you whether you want to continue his ways or find your own ways.”
“Well… The latter sounds preferable…”
“Then you will have to figure out a way to do so.” Torvus said honestly. “Now, you should probably head back to the castle and get help to help you with your injuries. Your blood will definitely attract the attention of some more creatures.”
“Both options sound terrible. Getting the attention of other creatures and going back to the castle where people will most definitely scold me for being a complete idiot.”
“Scolding you will be something to worry about later.” Charlie said when he finally made his way over to you and Torvus.
“Charlie?” You looked surprised to see him.
“Hello Charlie.” Torvus greeted. “You definitely have the perfect timing to get her back to the castle.”
“I am glad I have the perfect timing for that.” Charlie said to Torvus before turning to you. “Y/N, you need to come with me.”
“Why?”
He looked baffled when you asked him that. “Why? Because you are hurt and you need someone to look at these injuries.”
“...Why are you trying to help me?” You seemed to be avoiding his eyes when you spoke, like you didn’t dare to look up. You also didn’t seem to move an inch.
Charlie swallowed, before he just gently took your hand. “Because I want to.”
“... Okay.”
Charlie gave Torvus a nod before leading you away. He would get you out of here as soon as possible. You needed some help. The walk… It just felt like forever, especially because there was a silence between the two of you. Charlie wasn’t sure what he could say to you. To be honest, he felt like yelling in concern for you when he saw you, but that wouldn’t solve anything. He felt bad to see you like this even if it was you who made the decision to go here. He couldn’t really blame you either. You weren’t thinking clearly. Still, he felt responsible for you ending up here.
“... I am sorry.”
He looked at you when he heard you speak.
“I shouldn’t have teased you like that…” You mumbled softly. “Scratch that, I shouldn’t have said those things to you. You were just concerned about me and I made some stupid comments about you being a hypocrite and being like Bill.”
“... Well, I guess it was a bit hypocritical of me. I know going into the Forbidden Forest is dangerous and I could end up hurt as well.”
“That doesn’t matter, I was just stupid.” You mumbled. “I have been a hypocrite too. I don’t want to be compared to Jacob and I compared you to Bill when I know you don’t want that either.”
“I think we both were stupid then. We both reacted too quickly. I am sorry too.”
….
Once again there was a silence between them. Charlie knew they were getting closer to the castle. He glanced at you for a moment. You looked exhausted. You definitely needed to get back to the castle as soon as possible. “We are almost there.”
You nodded a little in response.
“... You don’t hate me, do you?”
Charlie blinked when you asked him that. “Of course not.”
“It would be okay if you did…" You mumbled softly.
"Well, I don’t hate you. You…. You are important to me." Charlie said, feelings his cheeks were slightly getting warmer.
"Important enough to run into the Forbidden Forest to look for me." You said with a slight grin. You were amazed you could even grin, especially with a headache that was getting even worse. Your body was growing heavy and you couldn't wait to just drop down on a bed.
"Yes, you are that important, Y/N." Charlie rolled his eyes in amusement. He turned to look at you. Your eyes didn't seem to focus on anything and he could tell you were struggling to keep up the pace. He frowned for a moment and stopped walking.
You blinked, wondering why they stopped. Before you could ask, he seemed to stand in front of you with his back towards you. He bent his knees a little.
"Come on, get on my back."
"Wha…?"
"You look like you are about to collapse. Let me carry you."
You could feel yourself getting flustered, but you were too tired to argue. You placed your arms over his shoulders and he reached his arms underneath your legs. He slowly raised you up by straightening his legs and made sure he was steady enough to start walking. Once that was done, Charlie walked back to the castle, giving you a piggyback ride.
___________________________
"Y/N!"
You noticed Rowan running towards you and Charlie. Penny and Bill had followed Rowan.
Charlie made sure you could carefully get off his back. You got off him and Rowan was immediately fussing over you.
"Look at you…! You need to go to the Hospital Wing...!" They said, trying to support you on your way to the Hospital wing.
Penny also seemed to get closer to you, standing on your other side. You glanced at Charlie, but he only gave you a nod, basically telling you to go with them.
You sighed softly and nodded. “Alright, alright… Let’s get this over with.” You said, not looking forward to seeing Madam Pomfrey. You had a feeling she would not be too happy to see you injured again.
Once you, Penny and Rowan were out of sight, Bill looked at Charlie. “What happened?”
“Torvus saved her from something in the Forest. I have no idea what happened there though.” Charlie said.
“I meant like what happened between you two.” Bill said, crossing his arms. “I have heard from Rowan and Penny you two had a fight.”
“It was more like an argument…”
“An argument that made her go to the Forbidden Forest for an entire night without telling anyone...?”
Charlie looked frustrated. “Look, Y/N and I both said things that were… well, not the best things to say to each other. I have never meant for her to run away to the Forbidden Forest…!”
“What things did you say to each other?”
“I don’t need to tell you everything, Bill.” Charlie said, looking away a bit. “The most important thing is that Y/N have talked about it and things are alright.”
“I am just looking after you, Charlie.” Bill said honestly. “I was worried when Penny and Rowan said you seemed to know where Y/N was, but didn’t tell anyone where you were going. If Y/N was in trouble and you couldn’t help her alone, who was going to help you both?”
“Okay, okay...! That may not have been smart, but I know my way around the place a lot better than most of you.” Charlie said honestly. “I wasn’t thinking much either. I just wanted to make sure she was okay.”
“She drives me insane sometimes, you know?” Charlie looked at Bill. “It’s like she has more influence on my emotions than most people I know and I keep thinking about her.”
“I think you have feelings for her.”
“You think… What?”
Bill chuckled softly. “She manages to make you feel all kinds of things, she is on your mind a lot and you run after her without a thought.” He pointed out a few things. “You like her more than just a friend.”Charlie’s face seemed to become a bit red.
“That’s… Well…” He seemed to stumble on his words, not sure what to say next.
“It’s up to you what you do with that knowledge, Charlie. I am not going to tell you to talk to her. You would have to do so on your own and when you feel like it’s the right time.”
“... Maybe.”
“I wonder what Mum would say if she knew this.” Bill said with a grin.
“Bill!”
___________________________
After Madam Pomfrey allowed you to go the next day, you made your way to the Great Hall. You were glad you were allowed to leave. Although, you had to spend another 15 minutes listening to Madam Pomfrey scolding you again before she actually let you go. You had a feeling she may write to your parents if something like that happened again, but you had a feeling they wouldn’t care too much about it. You were already a disappointment to them.
You just wanted to find Charlie. You hadn’t had the chance to speak to him after Rowan and Penny ushered you to the Hospital Wing yesterday. You had hoped you could speak to him that day, but you had fallen asleep rather quickly once Madam Pomfrey gave you some Potions. You assumed one of the Potions was a Potion for Dreamless Sleep. Perhaps that was for the best, knowing you would probably have dreamt horrible things about what happened in the Forbidden Forest. It was probably a wonder you had slept for a few hours in the Forest at all.
Once you entered the Great Hall, you noticed some people looking at you. You could feel a fake smile about to creep on your face, but you tried to prevent it. Was it worth giving everyone a fake smile just to make people look at you in a certain way?
You began looking around the Gryffindor table, trying to spot Charlie. You noticed Bill, Percy and Ben, but no Charlie. You sighed softly, hoping to spot him there.
“Y/N, over here!”
You turned around and noticed Penny waving at you from the Hufflepuff table. You gave her a small smile and made your way over to her. You couldn’t help it but to be a little disappointed you hadn’t seen Charlie just yet.
“Good morning, Penny.”
“Good morning. You look a lot better than you did yesterday.” Penny said with a smile.
“Good to know, I also feel a lot better than I did yesterday.” You said with a small laugh.
“That’s great. I am glad you are feeling better. Rowan, Bill and I were very worried about you when we were talking about how Charlie ran away to find you. Of course, our other friends were worried too.”  She said honestly. “Still, I couldn’t help but notice you were looking at the Gryffindor table just now. Were you looking for Charlie?”
Penny definitely knew what was on your mind. You nodded a little in response. “I was, but I didn’t see him.”
“I think you just missed him. He seemed to be quite in a hurry this morning.” She said honestly. “I assumed he was making his way over to the Hospital wing to see you.”
You felt like face palming yourself, but only let out a soft sigh. Of course, you have missed him on your way here. “I guess I will have to find him somewhere in the halls then. Thanks Penny.” You said when you quickly walked away.
“Shouldn’t you at least eat something?” She asked, calling after you.
“Breakfast can wait!”
You quickly made your way back towards the Hospital Wing. Or at least, you weren’t planning to show your face to Madam Pomfrey. You didn’t want to risk her thinking you had already managed to get yourself in trouble again even though you haven't done anything just yet.
Things were quite busy in the halls and you had to get past the many students who were there. You hoped you would actually find Charlie. Once you were near the Hospital Wing, you spotted him walking out with a sigh. You tried to quickly make your way over to him, trying to wave at him. “Charlie, wait!”
You noticed Charlie turning towards you and had managed to make your way over to him. “Thank Merlin, I was worried I might have been too slow to find you here.” You said with a soft sigh.
“Y/N, I was looking for you.” Charlie said honestly.
“And I was looking for you. Here I thought you would be in the Great Hall like most people we know, but of course I missed you on the way there.”
Charlie rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish grin. “I was, I think Bill would scold me if I skipped breakfast, so I quickly ate something before checking on you.”
“Penny said you seemed to be in a hurry.” You said honestly. “I quickly turned around to see if I could find you. Otherwise I would have probably made my way back to the Great Hall. Then I would have to eat breakfast without hearing you talk about dragons. That is not acceptable at all.” You seemed to be rambling a bit. You weren’t sure why; it was like you had to keep talking to him.
Charlie shook his head a bit. “Well then, I suppose I should escort you back to the Great Hall.” He said with a grin. “As your friend I would have to make sure you reach the Great Hall and eat a proper breakfast after spending the night in the Hospital Wing. We don’t want to anger Madam Pomfrey after all.”
“Alright, alright. Lead the way.” You said with a grin. You were starting to feel more at ease again. It was like everything seemed to be alright between you two. There were some things you would still like to talk about, but things seemed to be okay between you two.
You seemed to be thinking a little too much, because she snapped out of it when someone bumped into you. You yelped softly when you felt like you were about to fall, but you were caught in Charlie’s arms.
“Are you okay?” He asked, tilting his head a bit.
Your face became slightly red and you nodded. “Uhm, yes. I am fine.” You said, getting out of his arms. “Thanks for the help.” You said with a smile.
You glanced away for a second before you looked at him again. He seemed to be glancing away as well, but you began noticing his ears were slightly red.
“No wonder you are the Gryffindor Seeker. You have quick reflexes.” You said with a grin. Internally you began cursing yourself. Was that meant as a compliment or some kind of flirting? Why were you saying those kinds of things anyways? You knew you had opened up around Charlie, but it felt strange, like you had no filter around him anymore.
“Uhm, Thanks I guess?” You noticed him looking a little confused at you. He was still smiling though.
You could only feel your face heating up some. “Uhm, don’t mind me. I am probably acting a little weird because of the potions from last night.” You said, quickly coming up with some kind of lie to justify your behaviour.
“Uh-hu.” Charlie hummed, he didn’t seem to buy it. Of course he didn’t buy that. “We can talk about last night later if you want, Y/N. Just relax.”
“Talk about last night?”
“That is what is on your mind, right?”
“Totally!” You could feel one of those happy fake smiles creeping on your face again.
“.... Now I feel like it is something else.”
The fake smile seems to be dropping from your face quickly. “Uhm… Let’s talk about it later. Please. I…”
“Of course, come on. Let’s get you some breakfast and we'll talk about it later, alright?”
You took a deep breath and nodded. This wasn’t something to talk about in the halls. You wanted a bit more privacy
.___________________________
The talk you were supposed to have with Charlie seemed to have moved to another day. Once you have eaten breakfast, you were basically bombarded by questions from your other friends. You could only look at Charlie from a distance. Honestly, you wanted to talk about it.
Now you couldn’t sleep. The rest of your dorm mates seemed to be sleeping. You were just feeling restless. You knew it could possibly get you into trouble, but you quietly sneaked out of bed. You put on your school robes and made it to the common room area. Perhaps you could arrange a meeting with Charlie. You began making your way towards the entrance and when the door was about to open, you transformed yourself into a fox.
You began navigating your way through the castle, trying to avoid most Professors. Once you had made your way to the seventh floor. If only you knew the password to the Gryffindor common room… Obviously, you hadn’t thought this through…
Suddenly, you noticed the portrait opening. Perhaps this would be a chance to get through. You were ready to sneak past the person. However, you were surprised to see Charlie standing there with a look on his face like he was saying ‘I don’t know what I am doing.’
You noticed his eyes were suddenly on you. You two were staring at each other and then he quietly made his way over to you. “What are you doing here?” He whispered before he basically picked up. Then he walked back to the portrait and snuck you inside the Gryffindor common room. It was risky and clearly, Charlie was tired too. He basically entered the Gryffindor boy’s bathroom and closed the door behind him. He put you down on the floor and held his ear against the door, listening if someone was nearby.
You transformed yourself back and gave Charlie a nervous smile. “Before you ask… I couldn’t sleep and…”
“You decided to go to the seventh floor and go to the Gryffindor common room?” Charlie finished for you.
“Well… Something like that.”
“And how were you supposed to get in? You don’t have the password.” He whispered, frowning a bit.
“It wasn’t my best idea…” You admitted. “...Although, what were you doing? Why were you about to leave the common room at this time?”
Charlie rubbed the back of his neck. “Good question. I couldn’t sleep either. I thought about getting some fresh air.”
“Funny how we both couldn’t sleep.” You mumbled, fidgeting with your fingers a bit.
“Yeah, very funny indeed.” Charlie mumbled, shaking his head a bit.
“Charlie… About what happened…” You began, rubbing the back of your neck.
“You wanted to talk about something else than what happened in the Forbidden Forest.” He said, remembering how that fake smile had crept on your face.“Well, yes. Partly yes. I wanted to speak about what happened in the forest and something else.” You admitted. “Please bear with me. I am not sure how this will go, because I haven’t talked about this a lot. The only one I confided in was my grandfather in the past and that hasn’t been working out either…”
Charlie blinked a little. “You want to talk about your upbringing...?”
“Yes.” You said with a nod. “It will not be a pretty story to tell and will spare you some of the details, but I want you to know about it. It shouldn’t be an excuse for everything I have done, but it would be… well, some explanation to why I did certain things the way I did. Like… lying and manipulating.”
“From a young age I knew my parents would never think as highly of me as they did of Jacob. Jacob was obviously their favourite. Jacob’s accomplishments would always be celebrated, mine would always be compared to his and seen as less.” You began. “At first, I wanted to do things better, trying to prove them wrong. However, it didn’t seem to matter. I was there… Just a tool to make more connections.”
Charlie seemed to be frowning more and more when he listened to you. “So, they wanted to marry you off when you were old enough.”
“Yes, it was basically that.” You nodded. “Apparently I didn’t have the same talents as Jacob.” To be honest, talking about this kind of made you feel bitter towards Jacob, but mostly to your parents. “Still, there is a lot more to this all.”
“A lot more?”
“Yes, a lot more.” You sighed, wondering how you could tell this right. “I only had one person I could rely on. That was my grandfather. He became my teacher and mentor. He was the only one I could talk to without feeling like a complete waste of space.” You seemed to trail off a little, not sure how to continue.
“But there is something more about him as well, isn’t there?” Charlie asked, having a feeling there was something about him.”
“Well, yes.” You admitted. “Still, I don’t want to think he is only at fault here… I think he didn’t know any better either.”
“Not only at fault here? What did he do, Y/N?” Charlie seemed to step a little closer to you.
“He was the one who taught me how to act around others. How I should not always speak up if it wouldn’t help me reach my goals. How I should try to be liked to gain more influence. How I should mostly smile and help those to reach my own goals, to become successful like him.”
“He was the one who taught you all those things? Those things that made you lie or be dishonest around everyone, including the people who cared about you?” Charlie asked.
“Yes, but I don’t think he meant it as a bad thing…”
Charlie was baffled you seemed to defend someone who taught you those kinds of things. “He tried to turn you into a manipulative person, Y/N. That is not a good thing.”
“I know, I know...! But I didn’t have anyone else to be honest with.” You said, sounding a little frustrated. “Look, I am not saying he was a good man, I know he wasn’t. But he taught me ways to escape from feeling worthless and to actually escape from home. Besides, he was a lot like me during his childhood.”
“Y/N…” Charlie could tell this was hard to talk about and that he couldn’t change your view of your grandfather immediately, but he couldn’t help it but to say something about it.
“Look, he was also the one who taught me to become an Animagus and I am grateful for that. These things he taught me made me feel better back then. I know it was wrong, but it was better than feeling like ‘that other child’ or just ‘Jacob’s little sister’.” You said honestly. “I have felt really lost when my grandfather passed away and when Jacob disappeared. Everything at home was just… unbearable. I have run away a lot as an Animagus to escape from home ever since.”
“You ran away a lot… Where did you go?” Charlie asked.
“Somewhere. I spent most of my summers as a fox, stealing food from unsuspecting Muggles to be honest.”
Charlie always had a feeling things were bad at your home, but he definitely wasn’t expecting this. “Damn, Y/N… Even your last few summers...?”
“Well, yes…”
“Why didn’t you…” Charlie stopped himself. Who would you ask to stay the summer with if you couldn’t even give them a reason.
“... Yeah, I could have asked for help, but I just couldn’t. I was just… scared, you know?” You admitted, looking at the floor.
Things seemed to be a little quiet between you both. Honestly, what else could be said about this? You knew your upbringing was pretty bad and how it sounded even worse to anyone else. Charlie also wasn’t sure what to say next. He hesitated for a moment, but stepped even closer to pull you into a tight hug.
“Thanks for telling me about this. I can only imagine how hard that was to talk about.” He said honestly, thinking it was the only thing he could do now.You hugged him back and took a deep breath. It felt good to tell someone about this.
“... Well, thanks for listening to me.”
“It’s the least I can do, Y/N.” He said honestly, looking at you.
You looked up at him and gave him a small smile. You slowly let go of him and stepped a bit back. “I just had to tell you after what happened in the Forbidden Forest. I have been really mean to you and I was reflecting on why I was doing this. I felt awful for what I said and I didn’t want to blame everything on my upbringing. I want to change and I am trying to. I guess, I still have a lot to learn.”
“You can’t change your behaviour in a day, Y/N. I know you are trying to change. Besides, I told you I forgave you.” Charlie said honestly.
“I know, I know, but you are important to me, Charlie. Merlin knows what happens if I lose you.” You said honestly.
“You won’t lose me that easily.” He said with a small grin. “You are important to me as well, Y/N.
”You gave him a bright smile, feeling he was really honest with you. No matter what happened, you felt like you had each other to confide in. You wouldn’t want to lose that for anything in the world.

Resurrected from the death
Hello there ^^
I will soon post a new imagine again. I am not really up-to-date with HPHM, but I still love the characters and the setting. So, I may be rusty, but I hope to post some new imagines soon.
Perhaps I will look some things up I have missed in game for some more details, but I will try to play more HPHM again to experience it myself.
Spoiler: The first one will involve Charlie Weasley :3

I could really use a hug right now (Reader x Barnaby Lee)
Masterlist  (To view my Masterlist, visit my Tumblr page)
Words: 1.7k
Summary: Everything you did or said seemed to be wrong... No one seemed to understand how you were feeling at all. You felt alone and lost and decided to just avoid everyone. Just when you thought you were alone, someone came over to you.
A/N: Sorry, it is a bit short...
_______________________________________________________
You didn’t know what to do anymore. You were tired and felt so lost. Nothing seemed to make sense and you just couldn’t let go of it. You tried to act like you always did, but for how long could you keep up the act? Could you continue the day with a smile on your face all day and just forget about what happened for one second? Could you live up to everyone’s expectations? You were Y/N Y/L/N, the sibling of the infamous Jacob Y/L/N, you were used to unusual situations, right?
If only you could just live up to everyone’s expectations… You weren’t going to be able to just forget what happened and continue like nothing happened. How could you? The reunion with your brother was really difficult… Did he really expect you not to be cautious just because you were related…? After everything that happened, how could you just trust your intuition? Of course, you have seen your brother a few more times, but he always seemed to bring up the fact you were hesitant to immediately help him…
With the Statue Curse around, your friends began to act strange… Penny kept trying to involve you when she and her sister had an argument. You couldn’t help it but to side with Beatrice, considering the girl had gone through a traumatic experience. That probably didn’t help your friendship with Penny… Besides Penny, Charlie began accusing you of bringing danger around and Ben was trying to protect you, making some questionable decisions… You couldn’t help it but to feel hurt. Your friends didn’t seem to understand you.
Despite everything, you tried to keep going, hoping working on the Cursed Vaults would distract you from feeling bad. Although, it seemed like some of your friends were kind of wondering why you didn’t seem to spend a lot of time with them. It was like everything you did was wrong at this point. It made you want to avoid them even more. You didn’t want to trouble anyone. Besides, it wasn’t like they were asking if you were okay either. It was lonely to be alone with these dark and sad feelings you were experiencing lately. You felt like you couldn’t ask for help either… You would just have to carry this burden a bit longer…
You were currently sitting alone somewhere on the Castle Grounds, just staring at nothing. It was probably better than going to the more public places of the Castle. You didn’t want to deal with anyone and hoped no one would approach you now. If only your Hogwarts years were different… Perhaps if Jacob didn’t go looking for the Cursed Vaults, you wouldn’t be in this mess… Although, you would probably not have made the same friends you have grown to love.
Even though you were having trouble now, didn’t mean you stopped caring for your friends. It was quite the opposite. You loved your friends that much that you didn’t want to bother them anymore. You felt like they deserved a better friend than you… You were only going to disappoint them, right?
 “Y/N?”
You were slightly startled when you noticed someone was calling your name. You quickly turned into the direction where you heard the voice calling from.
“Barnaby?” You said softly, wondering why he came over to you.
“It’s been a while.” He said with a small smile. “You weren’t avoiding me were you.”
You felt a lump in your throat, not sure what to say. It wasn’t like you were avoiding him in particular, but you have been avoiding him like all your other friends. You just fixed your gaze on the ground, not sure if you could keep looking at him.
Barnaby frowned and then he slowly sat down next to you. “Y/N, is something wrong?”
“… No, there isn’t something wrong.” You mumbled, looking away.
“Then what is bothering you...? You can’t tell me it’s nothing.”
You shook your head. “It isn’t something… Everything is wrong…”
He had a surprised expression on his face, tilting his head a bit. “Everything…? That’s quite a lot…”
“You don’t say…”
“Maybe you could talk about it…? It will probably help a little to just talk about it.”
You let out a bitter laugh. “You will only judge me for it anyways…”
“What…? No, of course not! Why would I judge you for telling me what has been bothering you?” He looked slightly hurt.
“… See, it is already making you feel bad and I have barely said anything.” You muttered, beginning to hug your knees.
Barnaby began to look concerned. “Y/N… You should tell me what is on your mind… I promise I won’t judge if that’s what you are concerned about. I mean, it’s not like I easily judge others for what they say.”
“… All right. Don’t get mad, all right… I don’t think I would be able to handle it now...” You said softly, barely able to look at Barnaby.
“Don’t worry about it… Just tell me what is on your mind.”
 _____________
“Everything I say or do seems to go wrong… No one seems to understand my reasoning nor care about how I feel about the situation…” You said with a sigh when finished telling Barnaby what was going wrong.
Barnaby just stared at the grass, feeling a lump in his own throat now. How could he not have noticed you seemed to bottle up all your feelings? No one had asked how you were doing lately, everyone seemed too busy with their own stuff and problems. You had been smiling for their sake, considerate of how they were feeling. Heck, you even let them get angry with you, because they didn’t understand your perspective of things. You had been hurt by them and yet you didn’t say anything about it.
You hugged your knees tighter, not feeling better after talking about this. Actually, you were feeling like you were about to cry.
“Y/N… I’m so sorry…”
You looked up at Barnaby slightly surprised. “What are you sorry about…?”
“Well… I didn’t see what was going on… I didn’t see you were hurt by our actions…” Barnaby began, looking sad. “I feel bad for not being more considerate and aware of your situation… You have been there listening to our problems and even tried to help, but we have never… We have never asked if you needed someone to help you…!”
You could swear you saw tears in Barnaby’s eyes. It made it even harder to fight back your own tears. “D…don’t blame yourself for this… I-I mean, you guys have helped me out a lot with the Cursed Vaults and-”
“I wasn’t talking about help with the Cursed Vaults...! I was talking about helping you! M-more personally, you know? Like a friend should do...? You needed us and… and we didn’t offer you any help!” Barnaby was definitely crying at this point; he couldn’t hold back the tears.
The tears began to roll down your face as well. “B-Barnaby… Really… You don’t need to blame yourself for this…”
Barnaby looked into your eyes. “I’m so sorry…!”
You shook your head, unable to keep yourself from sobbing at this point. He just pulled you into a tight hug. You were just crying against him, not being able to stop because you have bottled up your feelings for too long. Barnaby was silently crying as well, unable to stop crying because he didn’t like seeing you cry at all.
After a while, the crying mostly stopped. You let out an occasional sob, resting your head against Barnaby.
“I’m s-sorry for crying so much… I-… I didn’t mean to make you feel bad too…” You said very softly.
Barnaby shook his head a bit. “Don’t apologise for crying…. Really, I am glad you told me.”
“Even though I made you cry too…?”
“Of course… I can… I can be quite easily influenced emotionally to be honest…” He said honestly. “Seeing you so down and hearing how you felt… I just couldn’t help it but to feel really awful…. I wished I had seen it sooner.”
“… You were the first one who asked me what was wrong.” You said softly. “No one else had come up to me to ask me how I was doing… Even before I was avoiding everyone.”
“I understand… However, I still wish I could have seen it sooner… It’s not healthy to bottle up your feelings like that.”
“I know… I just didn’t want to bother anyone…”
“It’s not a bother to talk to others about how you are feeling. Especially since things got more serious… And your brother being out of the painting and all…”
“Jacob definitely didn’t make it feel better at all…” You said honestly.
“Y/N… If you feel like you need someone to be there for you, know that I am willing to be there. Just like you have been there for me.” He said honestly.
“Thank you, Barnaby…”
 _____________
Barnaby was walking around the Corridors. He just walked out of the Great Hall after having some sandwiches. It had been a while since you had told him how you were feeling lately. He couldn’t help it but to keep an extra eye on you. He didn’t want to miss anymore signs about you feeling bad… He wanted to be there for you when you were feeling down again.
He looked around a little and suddenly spotted you. He kept his eyes on you and he could tell your eyes were on him as well. He didn’t expect you to rush over to him. Before he knew it, you had your arms around him, your face buried against him. It was obvious, he was surprised by your action, but he slowly wrapped his arms around you as well.
“I’m sorry… I really felt like I needed hug….” You said softly when you looked up at him.
“Of course.” He said with a small smile. “Should we go somewhere more comfortable?”
You nodded lightly, slowly letting of him. He began leading the way to a more comfortable place, keeping an arm around you the entire time.
Barnaby wasn’t going to let you bottle up your feelings ever again.

You can’t keep overworking yourself like this (Reader x Orion Amari)
Masterlist  (To view my Masterlist, visit my Tumblr page)
Words: 2.5k
Pairing: reader x Orion Amari
_______________________________________________________
Orion wasn’t usually stressed about something, or at least he didn’t show he was stressed. He seemed to have things in order. If you could describe Orion in one word, it would probably be balanced. It was something he always tried to teach to others too. Balance was important in Quidditch, but balance could help out in other parts of someone’s daily life too.
Some people found it odd Orion and you started dating. While Orion seemed to be so balanced, you lived a very chaotic life. You did so many things and it was a wonder you managed to do these things at all. Homework, Quidditch, spending time with friends, the Cursed Vaults, people thought it was a miracle you would have any time left for Orion. It definitely was a challenge, but you managed just fine. Orion tried to balance your life a little bit, but it definitely was hard since you weren’t going to drop anything.
Yeah, Orion mostly was calm and collected in his life. However, you weren’t always making it easy for him… He couldn’t help it but to worry about you. He knew you could take care of yourself, but knowing you were risking your life out there scared him.
Ever since the Portrait Curse caused trouble, you seemed to be having an even harder time. You seemed tired, like you were working non-stop. He wouldn’t be surprised if you were, there wasn’t a time where you didn’t seem to be working on something. Whenever you were talking to Penny Haywood and your other friends, he could sense some guilt coming from you. It was like you blamed yourself.
You always told Orion there was nothing to worry about. It was your fifth year and the workload of the year was higher. You tried to pretend everything was fine, but Orion wasn’t stupid. He knew you weren’t fine. You were overworking yourself. He tried to distract you from time to time, trying to get you to relax, but you weren’t just going to stop working on things. Whenever he expressed his concerns, you would either try to reassure him things were fine or you would just get irritated. He didn’t like where this was heading to…
He tried to talk to some of your other friends, wondering if they had noticed something too. They seemed to be concerned about you as well, but what could they do? You were stubborn and you weren’t just going to stop unless there was a good reason.
“Come on, Y/N! We really need to try harder than that if we want to win from Rath the next Quidditch match!” Skye told you after training, frowning a little.
You frowned back. “I’m trying, Skye…”
“All I am asking is you should give it your all when we have the match.” Skye said honestly.
You just sighed. You were so tired, you almost considered skipping the training. You wouldn’t do that though, you wanted to play the match and missing a training would really be bad.
Skye’s word may seem a little harsh, but she was right. You knew she was right. Besides, Skye knew you were dealing with a lot… A little part of her hoped it would talk some sense in you, but it probably wouldn’t do much.
You could feel a wave of exhaustion hit you, but you knew there was still a lot to do. You really wanted to go back to work on breaking the curse. You were about to leave the field and go to the locker room too, but you were startled when you felt someone putting a hand on your shoulder.
“Y/N, wait a moment.” Orion said, sounding quite serious.
You blinked, not sure if you have ever heard Orion so serious before. Was he going to kick you off the team because you played poorly? Was he going to let you sit on the bench the next match? You watched everyone leaving the field, only leaving you and Orion there.
“Orion… I know I have been flying quite poorly during practice, but I promise I will be better the next training.” You bit your lip slightly.
“That’s not the only reason why I wanted to talk with you.” He said honestly.
You once again blinked. “Oh… Did I do something wrong…? If this about not spending enough time with you, I promise I will make up for that soon… I just have a lot to do and-”
“Y/N, you don’t really seem to really realise how exhausted you are… It’s becoming quite unhealthy.” He looked so serious and concerned.
“We talked about this before, Orion. I can manage things just fine.” You told him, not feeling like bringing this up again.
“I disagree. When was the last time you went to bed early?”
“I don’t know…?”
“And when was the last time you actually relaxed?”
“You make it seem like I am some sort of workaholic. I do relax….” You mumbled.
Orion raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? When was the last time?”
You were about to speak up, but Orion decided to add something.
“And I don’t count the moments you are reading books about counter curses in the Common room…”
You frowned. “Okay, okay…! I get your point. I haven’t really taken some time off to relax. I mean, I do spend some time with my friends-”
“To work on breaking the portrait curse.” Orion pointed out.
“Okay, fine… But I do spend some time with you too, doesn’t that count as relaxing?”
“Not if you keep bringing those books along and just keep reading…”
“Then what do you want me to do? Just drop everything to relax? I can’t just do that, Orion! How could I ever get those students out of the portraits if I can’t break the curse?”
Guilt.
Orion could feel the guilt coming from you again. You were blaming yourself for the curse. “Y/N, you can’t help them when you keep working like this. You need a break.”
“No! How can I ever help Penny to get Beatrice back if I take a break? What if more people get stuck in a portrait? What if one of my friends get stuck? What if…. What if you get stuck in a portrait…?” You looked down at your feet, biting your lip.
“Y/N…”
“I can’t stop working on this until the curse is broken… I don’t want anyone I care about get stuck in a portrait…” You mumbled softly before you turned your back to Orion, ready to walk back to the locker room.
“Y/N, don’t walk away…” Orion said when followed you.
“Leave me alone, Orion.” You said softly. “I don’t want to talk about this…”
“I am only trying to help you, Y/N. People are worried about you.” He said honestly. “I am worried about you.”
“There is no need to be worried about me…!” You yelled at him.
Another wave of exhaustion hit you, you were feeling a bit woozy. You decided to ignore the feeling, not wanting to give in now.
Orion wasn’t going to let you go now. No, he needed to get the message through your head somehow. Normally he would tell you not to think and just do what is right, but he knew you weren’t capable of that right now. He grabbed your hand this time. “I love you, Y/N… I think I have every right to be worried about you.”
You wanted to just pull your hand away and leave, but you didn’t seem to have the strength to do it right now. Why did you have to be so tired now? Why did this wooziness not go away?
Orion seemed to realise something was off. He could feel you were trying to pull your hand away, but the attempt seemed to be rather weak. He didn’t let go your hand and made sure he was standing in front of you. He wanted to look you in the eyes. “Y/N, are you feeling faint...?”
“What…? No…”
A lie….
Orion could tell you couldn’t focus on him; it was like you kept just staring at him. Your whole body was definitely giving it away; you were feeling faint. He wasn’t surprised by it and expected to see it happen weeks ago. You couldn’t just expect your body to keep up with you when you were constantly pushing it over its limits.
“Can I go now…?” You asked him. “I need to…. I need to work on… on breaking the curse…”
Even now, you didn’t seem like you were ready to give up. You seemed to ready to ignore all the signals your body were giving you.
“No.” Orion just looked at you seriously.
“Orion… I need to… I need to keep working on the…” Your voice was trailing off. It was like you didn’t even had the energy to speak anymore.
Orion could see the exact moment you fell unconscious. He was prepared that would happen and just caught you in his arms.
It took you a few minutes before you opened your eyes again. You still felt exhausted… You could see Orion looking at you. He seemed to be pretty calm, although, you wouldn’t be surprised if he just put up that face to keep you calm.
“Do you understand why I am concerned about you now?” Orion asked quietly.
“I…. Yes…. I do understand…” The volume of your voice was just above a whisper.
“You need to rest.” He said softly. “Let me help you to the locker room, so I can bring you back to our Common Room.”
You slowly tried to get up, but you were still feeling so woozy. Orion just shook his head lightly and then he just picked you up, carrying you to the locker room. In normal circumstances you would probably become flustered if Orion carried you. You were so tired, you just allowed him to do so.
 _______
You should have known you would get scolded by Madam Pomfrey after Orion insisted you should go and see her. She had even contacted your parents. Well, you were lucky they didn’t send you a Howler… However, that didn’t mean you didn’t get any letters from your parents. They were angry and concerned you were neglecting your own health like that. If you didn’t start listening to your own body more, they would make sure you would follow a schedule to make sure you got enough rest. They emphasized you wouldn’t like that schedule.
Orion decided to help you out to make sure you would get enough rest. He wasn’t forcing you to follow his advice, but he made sure you would consider it. Also, he wasn’t the only one who were trying to help you out. Lots of your friends were keeping an eye on you too. They tried to take some of the workload of the Cursed Vaults from you. You did do most things yourself, but they would tell you when they thought you did enough for the day.
Skye had another method to make sure you would rest enough. ‘Y/N, if you don’t rest, I will make sure to tell Orion to put you on the bench during the next game.’
McNully seemed to side with Skye. ‘Seen from a strategic point of view, if you don’t rest enough, you will diminish the chances of winning the match by at least 33,3 percent.’
So, you decided to follow Orion’s advice more. It wasn’t that hard to follow; Orion would just remind you occasionally about taking a break. A part of you felt like you were slacking off, but another part of you definitely needed a break. It also wasn’t too bad since you had more time to spend with Orion. If anyone could keep you calm, then it would be Orion. His presence was always calming.
You were in Common Room with Orion, sitting on one of the couches together nearby the fireplace. You leaned your head against his shoulder, liking to be close to him. He had wrapped an arm around you, lightly resting his head atop of yours.
“How are you feeling?” Orion decided to ask once again that day.
“Just fine, just like I told you earlier today.” You mumbled back with a small grin.
“I’m just checking. As much as I like holding you close, I’d rather not have you falling into my arms, because you are losing conscious.”
“I don’t think anyone wants that to happen again. I think I got the message afterwards…” You said honestly.
“We are just looking out for you, Y/N. We don’t want you to get a real burn-out.” Orion said, rubbing his hand softly against your arm.
“I’m sorry for worrying you so much lately, Orion. I hope I didn’t drive you insane when I keep overworking myself like that.” You told him honestly.
“I have to admit. It was hard not to think about you when you were overworking yourself like that. I think I almost lost my cool a few moments.” Orion smiled lightly.
“Well, your face nor body didn’t give it away. You still seemed to be balanced, calm and focused.” You told him honestly.
“Some other people might disagree.” Orion chuckled. “But don’t worry about it. I will be fine as long as you make sure you take good care of yourself. You are very important to me.”
“And you are very important to me, Orion.” You said with a sweet smile. “It makes me wonder how worried you are about me whenever I am busy with breaking the curses of the Cursed Vaults.”
“Well, I’m not going to stop you from looking for the Cursed Vaults, but I can’t say I am never worried about you if that’s what you want to know.” Orion said honestly.
“I suppose that makes sense.”
“Everyone is worried from time to time. Everyone deals with it differently and it’s important to figure out how to deal with these worries without harming yourself in the process.”
“I think I still have to figure out how to deal with these worries.” You said honestly. “Luckily, I have you and some others to help me out on the way.”
“Just see it like this; Rome wasn’t built in one day. You can’t just change your ways immediately, but after some time, you will know how to deal with it.” Orion told you honestly.
“I suppose that’s true… Behaviour is hard to change, so it takes time to learn how to do things differently.”
“Remember, we are here to help you when you need us.”
“I know and I appreciate that.” You said honestly, slowly sitting up a little straighter so you could face Orion.
He gave you a smile when you were facing him. You gave him a smile back before you moved your head closer to his. It wasn’t hard to figure out what you were planning on doing. Your lips slowly made contact and the two of you began making out.
“Hey Orion! Don’t tire Y/N out too much after they just start to feel better!” Skye said loudly when she walked into the Common Room.
You both pulled away, blushing slightly. Although, you both had a big grin on your face. Things would slowly get better; you were sure of it.

Just Admit It! (Merula Snyde x Tulip Karasu)
Masterlist  (To view my Masterlist, visit my Tumblr page)
Words: 3.1k
Pairing: Merula Snyde x Tulip Karasu
Request @back-on-my-tulula-shiz: If you do take requests, can I get Diego and MC trying to help matchmake Tulip and Merula cause they're useless lesbians who don't wanna admit they have a crush on each other
I hope this is what you had in mind and I hope you will enjoy the story! :)
_______________________________________________________
“It’s getting pretty ridiculous.”
“What are you talking about, Y/N?”
You were sitting in the Great Hall with Diego, eating lunch together. You were watching Tulip and Merula from afar, seeing them argue. Actually, you could hear they were arguing, because they were yelling at each other.
“Oh, you mean Tulip and Merula. Don’t worry about it, they will stop shouting to each other eventually.” Diego said when he glanced at Merula and Tulip.
“What makes you so sure about that?” You raised an eyebrow at him.
“Simple, they fancy each other and eventually they will figure it out.”
If you would be drinking your pumpkin juice, you would probably have spit it out in surprised. “Fancy each other? What are you talking about? They are insulting each other as if their lives depend on it!”
“Can’t you just see they are too proud to admit they fancy each other? Obviously, they like each other, but they are waiting for the other to admit it first.” Diego said honestly.
You looked at the two again and began thinking about it. They used to be really good friends, but Tulip ‘betrayed’ Merula and Merula ‘used’ Tulip. Then again, it somewhat makes sense. “Well, if you are right, then it will take quite some time. They are both stubborn and indeed proud in some sort of sense.”
“You are right about that; It would really take a long time for them to finally realise it. However, I was thinking about another way to make them admit their feelings to each other.” Diego said with a grin.
You raised an eyebrow at him and tilted your head. “Another way to admit their feelings to each other? What are you thinking about?”
“I was thinking… We could help them.”
“We? How can we help them to admit their feelings to each other?” You asked, wondering what he had in mind.
“Simple. We just nudge them in the right direction. We have to be very subtle though, we don’t want them to know what we are planning.”
“And how do you think we could nudge them in the right direction? Do we have to say nice things about the other?”
“Well, that’s perhaps something we could do later. At first, we just have to let them become aware of the other being close by. For example, if I am entering the Great Hall with Merula and Tulip happens to be there as well, I would acknowledge Tulip is there by saying something like ‘Hey, isn’t that Tulip over there?’”
“And that would help…?”
“It’s a start, Y/N. It’s a start.”
 __________________________
Phase one of Diego’s plan seemed to be a success. You and Diego both made sure the two were becoming more aware of the other’s presence. At one point, you and Diego didn’t have to say anything anymore. Merula and Tulip began pointing out themselves if the other was nearby.
At one point, you were worried Tulip would notice you have been pointing out Merula every time you and Tulip spent time together. Luckily, she didn’t seem to think anything about it. She just muttered things like how annoying it was Merula was there.
The same happened whenever Diego was spending time with Merula. Merula didn’t grow suspicious of Diego whenever he pointed out Tulip was nearby. It definitely wasn’t the easiest plan and you and Diego would have to plan the steps carefully. At least there seemed to be more progress than before. The two girls didn’t seem to argue all the time anymore. Although, they were often looking at each other whenever they were nearby. Diego definitely thought this was an improvement.
“I think phase one is completed… It’s time for phase two.” Diego whispered to you.
“Seems good to me… Although, are you sure we should still help them out? I mean, they seem to be somewhat more aware of things.” You whispered honestly.
“We can’t stop now. How else are they going to confess their feelings for each other? They look at each other more often, but that is just the start of things. They need to realise their feelings for each other.”
You nodded and listened to Diego’s phase two of the plan.
 __________________________
“Wow, Merula sure knows how to cast good spells, don’t you think so, Tulip?” You said when you and Tulip were watching Merula and Diego practice their duelling skills on the Training Grounds.
Tulip rolled her eyes. “She is doing all right, I suppose. She seems to be getting better.”
“So, you think she is improving?”
“Of course. I mean, she is clever, but even she needs to practice her spells in order to get better. Besides, I have seen her perform some magic a lot better than this. I’m sure she can do better than this.” Tulip pointed out.
“I see. I didn’t know you had seen her perform a lot better than this.”
“Well, we were friends at one point. Of course, I have seen some things you might not have seen yet.”
“Like what?”
Tulip raised an eyebrow. “Why are you so interested in this?”
You shrugged. “No particular reason. You just seem to have a different view of Merula than I have. I think that’s a good thing, you know?”
Tulip sighed. “Well, it’s not like she is always a bad person. She just can get under your skin so easily… It’s pretty annoying from time to time… It’s probably because she knows a lot about me.”
“I sometimes miss the friendship I had with her, you know?” Tulip admitted, frowning a little. “She was like my first true friend here at Hogwarts. I admired her. She seemed to be so free and independent while I was dealing with my strict parents. Of course, I learnt she was more than just independent, but it didn’t make me think less of her until… Well, the moment she was using me…”
“She seems to be treating her friends better lately.” You pointed out to her. “Maybe she has learnt from it.”
“Maybe… Although, if she wants to become my friend again, I want her to apologise to me… That’s all I ask of her; an apology.”
“And what do you think she would like to hear from you?”
“I suppose she also wants an apology from me. I mean, I did betray her trust too…” She said softly when she sadly looked at Merula.
You nodded a little and then you both decided to walk somewhere else.
“That was a good duel, Merula. You are definitely improving.” Diego said with a smile.
“Well, I hope I am improving, that’s why I keep duelling with you after all.” Merula rolled her eyes.
“Aw… Not because you like spending time with me?” Diego smirked.
“Oh, shut up, Casanova.” Merula smirked, shaking her head a bit. “You can be horrible sometimes, you know?”
Diego laughed. “I suppose you are not used to people like me. At least, you are still learning a lot from me.”
“Merlin, I hope I don’t pick up any of those cheesy lines you keep saying to people here.”
“Hey, it took me years to master all these lines, you know?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry for your lost time.”
“Wow, rude…” Diego pouted playfully. “Anyways, we did have some people watching our duelling today.”
“Really…? Who?” Merula blinked.
“Oh, I’m sure you know who were watching you duel.”
“Not really, after all, I needed to focus on beating you.”
“The focus wasn’t enough I suppose.”
“Oh, shut up…. Anyways, who were watching us duel?”
“I think you know who.”
“Y/L/N?”
“Yeah, they were one of the two who were watching us.”
“Figures, they probably want to know my techniques so they can beat me.”
“Someone else was watching you too, she seemed to be impressed.”
“I lost, I’m not sure how impressive that was.”
“I was talking about Tulip.” Diego decided to tell Merula.
Merula blinked. “Karasu was watching us duel?”
“Well, there isn’t someone else you know with the name Tulip, right?”
Merula rolled her eyes. “I see… Anyways, you were saying she looked impressed?”
Diego chuckled. “You seem to be excited about that.”
“Shut up, Caplan...”
“Sorry, I will stop teasing you. But she was only looking at you the entire time.”
“She was, huh...? She would probably think I can do better though.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Karasu and I were really good friends at one point. She has seen me perform a lot better. Of course, duelling is different from a more casual setting. Magic in a duel can be a lot rougher, because you need to think quickly.”
“Sounds logical to me.”
“Anyways… I wonder why she would be there to watch me duel.”
“Don’t you sometimes watch her pull pranks on people too…?”
Merula began blushing a little. “So what? She pranks people so often, it’s not hard to notice if she keeps pranking people all the time.”
“You have a point, however, that doesn’t explain the blushing part.”
Merula groaned a little. “You can be really annoying, Caplan...”
“And I just want to know what my friend is thinking about.”
“Look Diego… Things between Karasu and I are complicated…” Merula mumbled.
“I know things are complicated, but it might be good to talk about things. Bottling everything up isn’t healthy, you know? Besides, you can trust me.” Diego told Merula honestly. “Friends listen to each other, right?”
Merula winced a little when Diego said the last part. “… I want to trust you, of course… Then again, Tulip has betrayed my trust at one point…”
“Do you trust anyone?”
“Not really…”
“Not even Ismelda?”
“Not really, besides, she spending a lot with Beatrice Haywood lately, you know? She and Beatrice seem to be closer.”
“Well, I could be your listening ear if you like? I mean, perhaps it helps.” Diego said with a small smile.
“Well… All right, but don’t tell anyone, okay...?”
“My lips are sealed.”
Merula gave Diego a faint grin before she looked serious again. “Lately, I have been thinking about Karasu more often, you know?”
“And that’s a bad thing?”
“Not necessarily, but it’s driving me insane…”
“It can’t be that bad…”
“It is, not because I am thinking bad things about her, but it is confusing me.”
“What is confusing you?”
Merula frowned a little and then she looked away.
Diego looked slightly concerned. “It’s okay to tell me, I won’t judge you.”
“I really miss spending time with Tulip.” Merula admitted. “I just keep thinking about it. I would have never thought I would miss her after what happened between us, but bloody hell… she keeps popping up in my mind every time I am thinking about something.”
“And you miss her as your friend or something more…?” Diego asked.
“As something more than friends?!” Merula snapped. “Don’t be ridiculous! More than friends… How stupid…”
“Then why are you getting angry over it?”
“I am not getting angry over it!” She yelled at him.
Diego gave Merula a look like he was saying ‘really?’
Merula took a deep breath and then she looked away again. “Fine…! Maybe you are right… Maybe I am missing her more than just a friend. She and I had something special and then she betrayed me…! How can I be sure that won’t happen again?”
“And you didn’t do anything that hurt her?”
Merula winced when Diego said that, knowing she did things that hurt Tulip too. “I… I might have done things too… I have used her… She probably doesn’t trust me either…”
“Maybe you two could try to talk to each other again?”
“She wouldn’t want to talk to me…”
“How can you be sure about that when you haven’t even tried to talk with her again?”
“……”
 __________________________
“I’m not sure if I can do this yet, Y/N…” Tulip mumbled when she was looking at Merula in the corridors.
“Come on, Tulip. You have done things that are more risky than this.” You told her honestly. “Besides, if she doesn’t want to talk you can just walk away.”
Tulip looked even more nervous. “Was that supposed to make me feel better about this?”
“Sort of.” You chuckled. “Really, it’s just a talk. It’s not like she is going to attack you for wanting to talk to her.”
Tulip sighed. “Fine… I will give it a shot.”
“Good luck, Tulip!”
Tulip began walking towards Merula. To her surprise, Merula was also walking into her direction. Once they were close enough, they both looked at each other.
“I want to talk to you...!” They both said at the same time.
Both girls blinked at each other and looked slightly more nervous.
“So… I guess we both want to talk to each other.” Merula spoke up first.
“I suppose so.” Tulip said softly. “We should probably find a spot more private.”
“Yeah, that would be a good idea.”
“How about-”
“Jacob’s old study?” Merula finished the sentence. “Just like the old times.”
“Yeah, that would be great.”
The two girls began making their way to Jacob’s old study in the castle. They knew it was the most private place in the castle. Besides the people who were looking for the Cursed Vaults, no one seemed to know about the old study in the castle. It was perfect for a private conversation.
Once they were inside the old study, they sat down on the sofa in the study. Things were quiet for at least a minute. It was like they both weren’t sure where to start at this point. They both had gathered their courage to ask each other to talk, although, they weren’t sure what to do next. Maybe they should have asked for more advice from you and Diego, but it was too late for that. They would have to do the rest on their own now. You and Diego had helped them greatly. They knew what they were feeling and you two pushed them into the right direction. The rest they would have to do on their own.
The two looked at each other again, looking very nervous.
“So… We should probably start talking…” Merula mumbled softly.
Tulip nodded. “Yeah, I think we should too…”
  “I’m sorry!”
They both looked surprised when they said the same thing at the same time again. Then they both rubbed the back of their neck.
“Wow… We are kind of in sync today…” Tulip mumbled softly.
“It seems like it…” Merula nodded slightly.
“Should I explain first…?” Tulip asked, blushing slightly.
“Only if you want to.” Merula said honestly. “I mean, I wouldn’t mind explaining it to you first too.”
“Well, I suppose it would be better this as soon as I can before I lose my confidence to tell you…” Tulip admitted awkwardly.
“Then go ahead…”
Tulip took a deep breath before she looked at Merula again. “I’m sorry for betraying you, Merula… I know it wasn’t the best thing I could have done to you… Especially because we used to be great friends…”
Merula looked surprised and then she nodded. “And I am sorry for using you, Tulip… I must have hurt you when I did use you for getting closer to the Cursed Vaults… It definitely wasn’t something I am proud of.”
“We both did things we shouldn’t have done… But I forgive you.”
“And I forgive you.”
“I have to admit… This wasn’t the only reason why I wanted to talk to you.” Merula said honestly.
Tulip blinked. “Really? Because I also wanted to talk about something else with you.”
Merula raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
“Yeah, really. There is something else I would like to talk about.”
“How about I go first this time…? Since you were the first one to apologise.”
“Only if you want to go first.” Tulip smiled lightly.
Merula gave Tulip a slight grin before she looked serious again. “I want to talk about something else… Something you might have to think about... I mean, it’s probably something you haven’t even thought about before and I wouldn’t blame you…”
“I can’t know if I have never thought about it if you don’t tell what it is about.”
“I know, sorry if I am sounding a little cryptic, I just have never talked about this before and it… Well, it’s kind of making me nervous.” Merula admitted, blushing slightly.
“That’s all right, the thing I want to talk about is making me nervous too for the same reason.” Tulip admitted, giving Merula a small smile.
“Okay then… Here goes nothing…”
“I fancy you, Tulip… This is probably the lamest moment to confess this, but I do fancy you.” Merula said, blushing even more.
Tulip’s eyes widened and then she began blushing too. “You fancy me…?”
“Don’t make me repeat myself again…” Merula blushed and rubbed the back of her neck. “… It was probably stupid to even say this….”
“Don’t say that…!” Tulip said honestly.
“Why not? Don’t you think it was stupid of me to tell you this when we just apologised to each other?”
“No, because I was about to tell you the same thing.” Tulip said seriously. “I fancy you too, Merula.”
Merula looked surprised. “You do…?”
“Yes, I do fancy you.” Tulip said, blushing even more. “At first, I thought I just kept thinking about you, because I was angry with you, but after a while I realised even when I wasn’t angry with you, I still kept thinking about you…”
“I did too.” Merula admitted.
“You did?”
“Yeah, I couldn’t get you out of my head. And it definitely didn’t help when Diego kept talking about you.”
“Diego kept talking about me?” Tulip raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah. Now I think about it… It was kind of odd.”
“Y/N kept talking about you too, Merula.”
 ………
“I think they did it on purpose.” Tulip mumbled.
“Those two…” Merula muttered, shaking her head. “They knew exactly what they were doing…”
“I’m not sure if I can be angry at them for it though…”
“They did help us in a way…”
“They really did…”
Merula sighed and then she looked at Tulip again. “So, what should we do next…?”
“How about we go a date during our Hogsmeade weekend…? I mean, if you want to?” Tulip asked with a small grin.
“Sounds terrific to me.” Merula said with a grin before she held Tulip’s hand.
Tulip slightly squeezed Merula’s hand. “Well, I think this is the start of something new.”
“I think it’s the start of something amazing.” Merula smirked.
“We will see how amazing it will be.”

HPHM Fictober Prompt day 21 & 22: Pain and Smile
Summary: You shouldn’t have done it, but it happened... You couldn’t just turn back what happened and you would have to deal with the consequences. His smile was hiding something... He was in pain, but he never let anyone know. You found out because of the mistake you made... Would he ever trust you again?
@hphm-fictober
_______________________________________________________
You admired him. He was able to stay so strong and keep up a smile most of the time. You couldn’t really remember him being angry or sad, he just smiled at the world. You wondered how he managed to do something like that, even though things at home weren’t going well… You wished you didn’t peek into his mind, but it was too late to change what is already done.
Legilimency was an art that was meant to be used wisely, yet you decided to peek into someone’s mind without permission. You could tell he has been in pain, but he never shows it to any of us. It happens at home, somewhere you couldn’t help him. You would never have guessed what was going on if you didn’t use your Legilimency to see what was going on in his head. For someone who hides things behind a big smile, his mind wasn’t hard to get through. He acts like everything is fine, but you know better. He might feel happy here, but how could he just repress the bad memories?
If you were going through the things he was going through, you were certain you wouldn’t be smiling. Your home life wasn’t perfect either, but you would just try to repress your emotions. Why wouldn’t you? You cried too much about Jacob’s disappearance when you were younger. You cried when your parents were fighting over it. You just tried not to feel anything, putting on a blank face.
Some of your friends were able to see through the blank face, knowing it when you were trying to repress your emotions and feelings. So why couldn’t they see it when he was hiding something? Was it because he showed some emotion that seemed to be genuine? Was he playing dumb on purpose to keep others from worrying? He did notice when something was bothering you, so why didn’t you ever see the signs things were bothering him?
Care of Magical Creatures always got him excited. He always talked about them so passionately. He was determined to pass his Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L., although he was doubting his skills. You have tried to cheer him up, telling him you felt confident he would pass his best subject. Maybe Magical Creatures are one of the few things that actually made him happy enough to keep smiling to the rest of the world.
Besides his love for Magical Creatures, he also has a passion for duelling. He would ask you to duel him from time to time. You always accepted the duels, thinking it was good to keep up your duelling skills. No matter if he won or lose, he was happy about you wanting to duel with him. His smile always made you smile too.
Could you smile ever again whenever you see him smile? Or would you feel like he was hiding his true emotions behind the smile? Was he hiding his pain from you and your friends?
“What are you thinking about, Y/N?”
You looked up, seeing Rowan was looking a little concerned. They always seemed to know when you were thinking deeply about something.
“Barnaby…” You mumbled.
“You were thinking about Barnaby? Why?” They looked surprised.
“I’m worried about him…”
“Why are you worried about him? Did something happen?”
You sighed and then you frowned lightly. You knew Rowan wouldn’t stop asking you, until you confessed what was bothering you. It might be a little annoying from time to time, but they managed to stop you from bottling your feelings up. “I might have done something I shouldn’t have done, Rowan.”
They frowned a little, but you could tell they didn’t mean to judge you. “What did you do, Y/N?”
“I might have used my Legilimency to peek into his mind without his permission…”
“Might have….?”
“Okay, I did use it for sure… I don’t know why I did it, I just thought he had nothing to hide. He is always so…. So…”
“So excited…?”
“Yes...! I just thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, you know? But I was wrong…”
“…. If you are feeling guilty about it, maybe you should just tell him the truth.”
“I know… I really should, but I’m scared… I never should have peeked into his mind, it’s violation of his privacy… I’m probably the worst friend ever…” You muttered.
“I don’t think he would think so… But it definitely wasn’t the smartest thing you have done… I mean, it might affect his trust in you when he knows…” Rowan said softly.
“You are right about that… I won’t blame him though, what I did was wrong and he has every right to be angry with me.”
Things were silent between you and Rowan. You only felt worse about the whole situation, but Rowan did encourage you to tell Barnaby about what you did.
“Are you sure you just peeked into your mind without any reason…?” Rowan suddenly asked.
You blinked for a moment. “What?”
“Are you sure you didn’t have a reason why you peeked into his mind? I mean, you probably had some sort of reason why you decided to suddenly use your Legilimency, Y/N.”
Were they right? Did you have a reason why you used your Legilimency? Well… Maybe you did have a reason… Although, you peeked into his mind without really thinking about it…
“Well…? Did you have a reason why you peeked into his mind?”
You began blushing a little. “…I might have had one… And then I used my Legilimency on him without really thinking about it…”
They nodded and raised an eyebrow. “And what reason did you have?”
“I was thinking a lot about Barnaby… And… I wanted to know if he was thinking about me too…” You mumbled before hiding your face in your hands in embarrassment.
Rowan gasped softly. “Y/N…!”
“I know! It makes it even worse…!”
“I knew you had crush on him, but I never would have thought you would use your Legilimency on him to figure you he might have a crush on you as well…”
“Do you think I would have done it if I had thought about it some more? My head was in the clouds when I did it…!” You muttered, blushing even more. “You probably think I am a bloody idiot…”
Rowan looked a little sorry for you. “It definitely wasn’t the smartest thing you have done… Although, I can relate to not thinking straight when your head is in the clouds… You basically moved without thinking about it…”
“…Are you talking about a certain move you made when Bill was still at Hogwarts…?”
“Yes… I did do something really weird and acted without thinking… I think he was mostly confused about it though.”
“You didn’t really invade his privacy though….”
“No, but I definitely didn’t make things very comfortable for us either…” Rowan said when they rubbed the back of their neck. “Anyways… I just think you should talk to Barnaby and explain why you did it… Besides, you are worried about him, so maybe it would be good for him to talk about it as well… since you know more about it.”
“I suppose so…”
  ___________________________________
  “Barnaby, wait!”
Barnaby turned around when you called his name and then he looked at you with a smile. “Oh, Y/N. What is up?”
“I was wondering if we could talk… Alone.” You said, noticing some of your friends were looking at you. You could see Andre grinning a bit. You guessed he was thinking you would confess your feelings… Oh boy, if only that was the reason you wanted to speak to Barnaby….
“Sure, we can talk alone. Where do you want to talk?” Barnaby asked.
“How about Jacob’s old study…? No one should be there…”
“All right, sounds good to me.” He gave you another smile, making your heart ache even more.
“Great… Let’s go there now.” You said, leading the way to Jacob’s study.
“Are you feeling okay, Y/N…? You are acting a little odd…”
No, you weren’t feeling okay. You felt awful for doing this. You didn’t want to turn back though. He deserved to know the truth… He needed to know you knew what he knew… “I will tell you once we are there, okay…?”
“Okay…?”
You could see the confusion spreading over his face. You wouldn’t be surprised if he thought he did something wrong. You felt bad to make feel confused, but talking about this in public would make things worse. You didn’t fully want to betray his trust by talking about something personal…
Once you both were in Jacob’s old study, you both sat down on the couch that was in the study. The place was still pretty dusty, even though you have occasionally been in here. You tried to clean the place a little, but things get dusty when you don’t go into a room often.
“So, what do you want to talk about, Y/N?” Barnaby asked, looking at you with questioning eyes.
You took a deep breath before you looked into his eyes. “I want to be honest with you…”
“Honest with me…? Haven’t you been honest with me…?” He looked confused.
“Not really….”
“Oh….”
You frowned a little, feeling really bad when you saw the disappointed expression crossing over Barnaby’s face. “I did something I shouldn’t have done, Barnaby…. Something I should have asked your permission for…”
He blinked, but didn’t say anything.
“You might hate me for this… but I need to tell you the truth.”
“I don’t think I will hate you for whatever you have done… It can’t be that bad?”
You bit your lip slightly for a moment. “It is pretty bad, Barnaby… I really regret it though… But I don’t think regret is enough for you to forgive me for what happened.”
“Then what did you do? You aren’t making sense, Y/N.”
“I used my Legilimency on you without letting you know.” You said seriously.
Barnaby looked confused. “You used your Legilimency on me to peek into my mind?”
“Yes… And now I know what is going on at your home, Barnaby.”
His face became a little pale and his eyes widened. He was shocked…
“They hurt you at home…. I have seen it.” You said honestly and then you looked down. “I know it isn’t any of my business… but it made me wonder… Why…?”
“Why I never said anything…?” He looked away, frowning a lot.
You nodded lightly. “You always seemed to figure out when something was wrong at my home… And you helped me out so much… Why did you never tell me…?”
“Isn’t it obvious, Y/N?” He clenched his fist, still not looking at you. He made sure you couldn’t see his face.
“No… It is not obvious, Barnaby….” You said softly.
“You already have enough going on in your life… Telling you about my problems… I didn’t want to bother you with them.”
“You wouldn’t have bothered me…”
“Don’t fool yourself, Y/N…. I have seen you nearly break down when the stress got to you… I didn’t want to make things worse by telling you about my problems… Besides, it is something I would have to deal with, not you.” He muttered.
“I don’t want you to deal with this alone, Barnaby…! I know I wasn’t supposed to know what was going on, but I want to help you…!” You said honestly, looking concerned.
“That’s exactly the point, Y/N! You weren’t supposed to know…! It is my problem, not yours!” He yelled at you, finally looking at you again. He looked angry, but could also hear the sadness in his voice.
“I-I’m so sorry, Barnaby... I really am…! I didn’t want to invade your privacy… I just…”
“You just what…? What were you trying to figure out when you were peeking into my mind?”
“…. I-I wanted to know whether you were thinking about me as well…”
Barnaby blinked. “What…?”
“Don’t make me repeat myself…” You mumbled, blushing slightly. Your eyes were stinging because of the upcoming tears.
“No, I want to know exactly what you mean with that…” He said seriously.
“Why… It doesn’t matter anyways…” You mumbled.
“It does matter…! I want to know the true reason why you used your Legilimency on me…!”
“…. I think you already know what it means. Besides, it wouldn’t matter anyways because I screwed things up already…”
“Just say it…!”
“Fine! You want the real reason? I fancy you, Barnaby…! My head was in the clouds when I wanted to know whether you were thinking about me too! Then I just used my Legilimency on you without giving it a second though!” You basically yelled at him, before you turned your back at him. The tears were rolling down your face. “… It was never my intention to see what I saw… It just showed up when I was peeking in your mind…”
Things were quiet between you two. It was like neither of you knew what to say. You didn’t blame Barnaby for it though. It was a messed-up situation. You wouldn’t be sitting here with him if you didn’t do what you did… You betrayed his trust by peeking in his mind with your Legilimency. If only you weren’t an idiot, you wouldn’t be in this mess.
“…. So, you peeked into my mind, because you wanted to know I had a crush on you…?” Barnaby finally spoke after a while.
You nodded, still not looking at him.
“You didn’t do it because you thought I was hiding something from you…?”
“No…”
“Why didn’t you just ask me…?”
“I…. I don’t know… I wasn’t thinking…”
“How much did you see….?”
“I think a lot… From your childhood as well…”
“Can you tell me what you have seen exactly…?”
You ended up telling him what you knew. His parents weren’t loving at all. Even after they were sent to Azkaban, no one cut Barnaby some slack. His grandmother was cold to him and insulted him a lot. You knew he experienced psychological abuse and physical abuse, something that wasn’t nothing. It was hard to tell him all the details, because you felt awful to talk about the details. The things that happened to Barnaby were just awful and you didn’t understand how he was able to keep smiling at everyone.
“So… That’s what I know…” You told him honestly and then you looked at Barnaby.
Barnaby just sat there, staring at the ground. He seemed to be trembling a bit, but it seemed like he was just trying hard to keep a straight face, something you did as well when things were bothering you. You moved a little closer to him, before you pulled him into a tight hug.
His eyes widened when you suddenly hugged him, but it also stopped him from holding his emotions in. Before you knew it, Barnaby was hugging you tightly as well. You heard something unfamiliar: He was crying. Hearing him cry was painful. You ended up crying with him, not letting him go.
“I promise… I won’t let you deal with this alone… I will be there to help you, just like you helped me, Barnaby…” You whispered to him, promising you would always be there for him, something he did for you as well.

HPHM Fictober Prompt day 5: Fire
Summary: After many Curse-Breaker jobs, you finally had a day off to spend some time at your home in Romania. It was quite a stormy day, so you spend most time relaxing on the couch nearby the fireplace, reading a book. However, when Charlie comes home, you immediately turn your attention to him, making sure he would all right.
@hphm-fictober
_______________________________________________________
It was quite a stormy day in Romania. You had been at home for the day, not having to go to any Curse-Breaker jobs. You took the time to relax and spend some more time with Charlie whenever he came home from his job. You had lit up the fireplace, warming the place a little more and making the home look more cosy. It was a small home, but you and Charlie didn’t need a big home in order to be happy. Besides, you two seemed to be happy with the place and it was definitely something you both could call home.
You had curled up on the couch with a good book nearby the fireplace. The radio was softly playing in the background and you heard the raindrops hitting the windows. It was definitely a nice background noise. It was nice to be able to read something again. You often were away from your home because you sometimes had to accept jobs somewhere far from your home and sometimes out of the country. You didn’t have a lot of leisure time to read a book. You were already happy to spend a little time with Charlie. You both were busy with your jobs and you both enjoyed each other’s presence a lot.
You looked up from your book when you heard the door open. You put the book aside and gave a smile when Charlie walked into the living room. His clothes were soaked, knowing he should put on some dry clothes right now. You stood up and walked over to Charlie.
“Welcome back, Charlie. Let me get you some warm and dry clothes, you are going to get sick if you keep wearing the ones you are wearing right now.” You told him with a smile.
“I’m kind of missing the welcome back hug you normally give me.” He chuckled.
“Oh hush! You will get that once you put on some other clothes.” You told him amused when you walked into your bedroom.
Charlie followed you into the bedroom and then he watched you grabbing some of his clothes. “You know I can get it myself, right Y/N?”
“Of course, but I feel like it’s the least I can do for you. You have been working all day in the storm.” You told him. “Maybe you should take a warm bath.”
Charlie chuckled. “Relax, Y/N. It’s not like I am freezing to death.”
“I know, but it would be a pity for the Dragons if their favourite Dragonologist is sick, right?” You smirked at him.
“Oh yes, they would have to miss me for a while.”
You put the clothes on the bed when Charlie began to take off his clothes. When he was taking off his shirt, you noticed some fresh burns on his arms, making you frown a little bit.
“Didn’t you get these burns treated by someone?” You asked him.
Charlie blinked and looked at you. “Oh, you mean these? I kind of forgot about them when I was busy, you know?”
“Charlie, you should know better.” You said, shaking your head a little.
“They aren’t that bad. I mean, I have had worse burns. It happens when you work with Dragons.”
“Let me treat them for you. I think you are already sporting enough scars on your arms.”
“And you know how to treat burns?” Charlie raised an eyebrow.
“Some curses involve fire.” You shrugged. “Besides, I would be a poor Curse-Breaker if I didn’t know some healing techniques to keep myself from going to Hospital every time I get hurt.”
“That makes sense. Although, I have never heard you talking about getting hurt on the job.”
“Just like you aren’t always telling me when a Dragon tries to fry you alive.”
“Touché.”
“Luckily for you, I always take some Burn-Healing paste along with me. So, I should still have some for your burns.” You said with a small smile.
“Aren’t you the most prepared person ever?” Charlie smirked.
“Me? Prepared? Don’t make me laugh. I always forget something whenever I leave, so I often have to improvise.” You laughed softly.
“You are pretty good at it though. I mean, how well prepared can you actually be when you are dealing with curses?”
“You can only prepare for what is known about the curse. Then it just takes a lot of time to think and solve the problem.” You said when you began looking around for the Burn-Healing paste. “Hm, not here…”
Charlie just continued dressing himself in the warmer clothes you put down for him. “Maybe it’s still in your trunk?”
“Maybe. I will look for it. Just wait here, okay?”
“Don’t worry too much, Y/N. It’s not like I am dying. I can handle some burns.”
“I know you aren’t dying, but the sooner those burns are treated, the better they heal. Just because you can handle them, doesn’t mean you should leave the burns untreated.” You told him before you went back to the living room.
Your trunk was mainly there because you couldn’t really expect when you had to leave for a new Curse-Breaking job. The essentials were always in the trunk, making sure you could leave as soon as possible when people needed your assistance. Someone could basically call you from the other side of the World, asking for you assistance from time to time. It didn’t happen often, but since Jacob was working in the United States, you made sure you would be available to help him there if he needed your help.
It wasn’t really a large trunk or anything. Of course, it was a magical trunk where a lot of things could fit into. You prepared yourself for leaving for days, but also for jobs that could be finished within a day. Nowadays, you mostly work in Romania, preferring to be close at your home in case something happened to you or to Charlie. Anyways, the trunk definitely contained the essentials.
You opened the trunk and then you began looking for Healing potions and pastes. “Wiggenweld Potion, no… Antidote to Common Poisons, no… No, I’m not looking for a Blood-Replenishing Potion… Ah! There it is.” You grabbed the Burn-healing paste and walked back to the bedroom.
“I have found it.” You said with a smile when you walked over to Charlie. “Stretch out your arms for me.”
“All right.” He smiled and then he stretched his arms out for you.
You began applying the paste on the burns. Parts of his arms where covered with the thick orange paste. If you never had seen the Burn-healing paste before, you would have wondered what it was for and why it looked like that. It always looked a little weird to see someone with thick orange paste on parts of their faces, arms or other body parts.
“So, I think this would be fine.” You told him honestly.
“Looks just like how the Healers would do it at the Dragon Sanctuary.”
“Promise me you will go to the Healers the next time you get burnt. I mean, most of the time you wear protected clothes, I am aware of that. But I don’t think it is wise if you keep walking around with burns that aren’t treated.” You said honestly, just not wanting him to get really hurt.
“I promise, Y/N.” Charlie said with a small smile. “Just try not to worry too much about me, okay? I will be fine.”
“I will try.” You told him with a small smile. “I mean, you can also worry a little too much about me as well.”
Charlie blushed slightly, grinning sheepishly. “I suppose that’s true. We both have jobs which can be quite dangerous from time to time.”
“Anyways, I haven’t got my welcome-back hug yet.” Charlie smirked lightly.
You chuckled. “I suppose you want one now.”
“Maybe.”
You shook your head in amusement and then you gave Charlie hug. “Is this welcome-back hug sufficient?”
“I suppose it is.” He laughed softly when he hugged you back. “Still, I could really use some more quality time with you. It’s not like we often have a lot of time to spend together.”
“That’s true, we don’t. Although, I might have some more free time coming up soon. Things are getting less busy lately.” You said when you slowly let go of him.
“Really?”
“Yeah, it seems like there is a calmer period coming soon. At least, I am noticing a decrease in available jobs at the moment. Or maybe more Curse-Breakers are active in Romania now. I don’t know, but I think I could use a little time off.”
“Well, I can imagine you could use it, I mean, you have been really busy the past few months. And I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing you more often at home instead of only seeing you a few days in the week or not seeing for an even longer time.”
“Since we both are home, maybe it would be nice if we move back to the living room to sit close to the fireplace.” You said with a sweet smile.
“Let me guess, so we can cuddle on the couch?” Charlie grinned.
“Wow, you seem to really know me well.” You smirked.
“That’s what happens when you know each other for a long time.” He chuckled. “I suppose living together makes it even easier for me to read you.”
“You probably know all my habits and quirks.”
“Just like you know mine.”
“So, do you want to go to the living room? I mean, I know you have probably seen enough fire for today, but I think you might like it.”
“Oh, I have definitely seen a lot of fire, but I suppose I would like it to sit on the couch with you nearby the lit fireplace.”
“You suppose?” You grinned. “Not exciting enough?”
“I definitely need some calm and nice quality time with you, Y/N.” He winked.
“Great, I definitely need some of that calm and nice quality time with you too.”
 ______________
“Did you get some messages from Jacob lately?” Charlie asked when was holding you close on the couch.
You could still hear the sounds coming from the fireplace and the rain outside in the background. You both seemed to be pretty relaxed, occasionally staring at the fire if you weren’t looking at each other.
“Some, but most were about some curses he came across during his jobs. Sharing experiences can sometimes help us out to figure things out a little quicker. I mean, I sometimes get some messages from Bill too about certain curses, just like I message him and Jacob about the curses I have come across.”
“I suppose that makes sense.” He nodded and then he smiled. “I mean, whenever I am at the Dragon Sanctuary, we also share experiences with each other. It really helps us with studying the Dragons from different perspectives.”
“Sharing experiences can definitely be helpful. It’s always good to see things from another perspective. Sometimes the way you look at something isn’t the right perspective and you will get stuck. Although, it’s also good to have your own perspective on things as long as you are critical.” You said with a smile. “Did you get some interesting messages?”
“Mostly updates on how things are going at the Burrow and some letters from my siblings. I don’t think anything alarming is happening right now. Although, strange things often happen at the end of the school year. Also, I haven’t got another letter about Dragons at Hogwarts anymore.”
You chuckled softly. “I still feel a little bad for Hagrid, I mean, he always wanted a Dragon. Still, having one at Hogwarts would have been too dangerous.”
“I kind of want to go back to Hogwarts at least once, you know? Just to see if it still is the same as before.” You said with a smile.
“Hey, it’s not like we have graduated from Hogwarts ages ago. I’m sure things are still pretty much the same.” He grinned.
“I know, but still. I feel old whenever I think back about my Hogwarts days.”
“Oh yes, we are really old.” He shook his head and laughed softly. “Come on, Y/N. It’s not like we are in our forties. Merlin, we aren’t even in our thirties!”
“I can’t help it, thinking back about my Hogwarts years makes me realise how much older and wiser I have become.”
“Wiser?”
“Oh, shut up, Charlie.” You grinned and then you rested you head against him. “I’m just glad it gave me the opportunity to meet some amazing people. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet you, because I don’t know where I would be right now if I hadn’t met you.”
“You would probably be travelling around the world some more or be with someone else.”
“I don’t even want to think about what would happen if I hadn’t met you.”
“Well, I’m definitely glad I have met you too. Things would definitely have looked a lot differently without you around.” He whispered before he kissed your forehead.
You tightly wrapped your arms around him. “I love you, Charlie.”
“I love you too, Y/N.”

Focus and Balance are the Key to Succes (Fictober day 3 - fem!Reader x Orion Amari)

HPHM Fictober Prompt day 3: Quidditch
Summary: Keeping up with everything is hard when you are dealing with the Cursed Vaults, Detention, Curse-Breaking activities and Quidditch. However, Orion seems to know the answer to your struggles. If only you could actually figure out how to focus and keep your balance…
@hphm-fictober
_______________________________________________________
“Are you feeling unbalanced today, Y/N?”
You looked towards the Quidditch Captain, who also was one of the other Chasers on the team: Orion Amari. It was like he always seemed to know something was up, even though he might express it quite vaguely most of the times.
“Is it that obvious?” You asked him, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Your thoughts seem to be elsewhere. It’s not hard to see someone is distracted by something.” Orion said honestly. “Besides, your face was kind of giving it away.”
You blinked, wondering what he meant.
“The frown on your face that keeps appearing when you are thinking. I have seen that one before.”
Oh, you must have been frowning when you were thinking about the recent events. It was hard to combine everything. You were trying to keep your grades up; you were working on finding the next Vault and you sometimes had detention in the Kitchens. It definitely wasn’t easy to keep up with everything.
“There it is again, are you sure you are up to play the match tomorrow?” Orion asked, sounding slightly concerned.
You quickly nodded. “Of course! Sorry, I will focus during the rest of our practice.”
“Good, because your focus and balance are what we need during our match tomorrow.” He gave you a small smile before he called everyone over for the Quidditch Friendly.
The Quidditch Friendly went all right, but you knew you were probably a bit off. You could see Skye and Orion giving you some glances every now and then. You wondered if they were glancing at you because they were annoyed or worried. You wouldn’t be surprised if it was in annoyance.
Once you were dressed in your regular clothing, you looked at your broom and Quidditch robes. Maybe it was foolish to think you could do combine everything you wanted to do. Maybe playing Quidditch was just too much this year. When you first joined the team, you didn’t have to deal with detention and the things you had to do for the Cursed Vaults seemed to be less intense and less dangerous.
Perhaps you needed to quit?
“Y/N, I know you have got a lot on your mind, but could you try to clear your mind a bit more tomorrow?”
You turned around and saw Skye Parkin standing behind you, rubbing the back of her neck a bit. “Sorry, Skye. I will do better tomorrow.”
“It’s fine, I just want us to win the match against Rath, you know? And if you are too distracted, she might play a little rougher just to knock your off your broom…” Skye grimaced a little. “I don’t think Orion and the rest of the team will like it to see another player with a Quidditch injury after playing against Rath.”
“Well… I suppose that makes sense. She has tried to do such a thing before.”
“Good, I mean, you know how she plays Quidditch.” Skye said and then she grabbed her stuff. “I will see you tomorrow, Y/N.”
“Yeah, I will see you tomorrow.” You said before she left the Quidditch dressing room. You sighed softly and then you grabbed your stuff. You were ready to go back to your Common Room and probably head to bed.
On your way back to the Castle, you were once again thinking about everything that was going on this year. It was definitely going to a hard year. You would have to take your O.W.L.s, go to detentions in the Kitchen once in a while, breaking the Portrait Curse, going to Professor Rakepick’s extracurricular classes to learn more spells and tricks of a Curse-Breaker and then there was Quidditch… So much to do, so little time… If only you had a Time Turner…
“Do you want to walk back to the Common Room together?”
You snapped out of your thoughts and noticed Orion was walking beside you. “You startled me, Orion.”
He grinned lightly. “Did I really?”
“You did.” You told him honestly. “I mean, I was thinking so hearing you talking to me out of the blue definitely was surprising.”
“I understand.”
“I thought you were already back to the Common Room.” You told him.
“I was just checking if we didn’t leave anything behind at the Quidditch Pitch.” Orion said honestly. “But you didn’t answer my question.”
“What question?” You were slightly confused.
“If you wanted to walk back to the Common Room together.” He grinned. “Or did I startle you too much you didn’t hear my question back then?”
“Oh…” You said, blushing slightly. “We can walk back to the Common Room together, I mean, we are in the same house, aren’t we? We would have to go the same way anyways.”
“That’s true, although, I thought I should ask, because you were pretty distracted by your own thoughts.”
“Maybe a bit too much distracted…” You mumbled softly.
“Everyone can be too distracted by something from time to time. You just need to learn how to manage these distractions and make sure you can still focus on the things that are important to you.” Orion said with a smile. “Basically, it’s all about finding your focus and balance.”
“Are you saying balance and focus are always the answer…?” You raised an eyebrow.
“In a sense, yes. I think they are quite helpful to keep things in order and make someone at ease.”
“Anyways, we haven’t talked a lot this year, Y/N.” Orion pointed out.
You blinked a little again, feeling confused again. “What do you mean? We talk every Quidditch practice.”
“I meant as your friend, not your Quidditch Captain.” He gave you a serious look. “I know you have been busy with other things like the Cursed Vaults, but you haven’t been talking about how you are feeling. Your mental wellbeing is just as important as your physical wellbeing.”
“I’m fine, Orion. I’m just busy, that’s all…”
Orion didn’t seem to believe you, but didn’t say anything about it. The rest of the walk to the Common Room was quiet. You knew you weren’t telling him the truth, but what would he do with the information you give him? It’s not like he could just change everything. This year was just stressful and you would just have to figure out how to manage it.
When you both reached the Common Room, you were ready to immediately go to your dormitory. Before you could go, Orion grabbed your hand.
“You can talk to me if you feel like it, Y/N.” He said honestly. “Also, get some good rest, okay?”
You nodded to him, giving him a small smile before you headed to your bed.
___________________
“It’s time for one of the most important matches of the year! The Y/H team versus the O/H team! Definitely a 93.3% chance of edge-of-your-seat excitement!” McNully’s voice was heard throughout the Quidditch Pitch. You could hear the excitement in his voice, knowing he was rooting for your team. “Madam Hooch is about to kick off the match. Both teams look eager to get underway.”
Madam Hooch walked onto the field and looked at both teams. “I want a nice, clean game from all of you.” She said before the trunk opened and the balls flew out of it.
“The Bludgers are up, followed by the Golden Snitch.” McNully said before Madam Hooch threw the Quaffle in the air. “And the game begins!”
You, Skye and Orion were ready to get the Quaffle before the other Chaser would get their hands on it.  You just hoped you would keep your head in the game. You managed to get a good night rest, but you couldn’t really control your thoughts that well. Especially when more and more students were getting trapped in the Portraits.
“Y/N Y/L/N has the Quaffle, will she score?” McNully said when you caught the Quaffle.
You dodged some of the other players and then you scored.
“10 points for Y/H!” McNully said excitedly. This meant your team was in lead right now.
If looks could kill someone, Erika Rath would probably have killed you with that glare she gave you. Luckily, you didn’t have to look at her face for too long. Your teammates were giving you smiles and some thumbs up. If things are going right the rest of the match, your team might win.
You quickly had to focus on getting the Quaffle again, so you, Orion or Skye could score again. It was only the beginning of the game; a lot of things could change throughout the game. You couldn’t afford thinking about anything else besides the match, because it was way too intense and you would make mistakes if you did. Things were going fast and you needed to think fast if you wanted to have a shot. After a few years of playing, you definitely realised that.
You definitely were saved a couple of times by the Beaters of your team. They definitely had to work hard with Rath out there. Rath might not always play too nice, but she definitely wasn’t a bad Beater. She just happens to hit Bludgers well enough to seriously injure other players from time to time.
Skye flew next to you. “Keep an eye on Rath. She doesn’t seem too happy about our team being in the lead.” She told you seriously.
“I have noticed that.” You told her, before you both were trying to get the Quaffle out of the hands of the O/H Chasers. It definitely wasn’t an easy match. You just hoped no one of the team would get injured, because it would definitely would lower the chances of your team winning the match. Unless the Seeker of your team would catch the Snitch soon.
“Skye Parkin has the Quaffle and she passes it to Y/N Y/L/N….” McNully commentated on what was happening now.
You once again had the Quaffle in your position and then you passed it to Orion, who seemed to be in a better position to score.
“Y/N Y/L/N passes it to Captain Orion Amari.” McNully said, sounding a bit excitedly.
You definitely felt confident Orion would score another 10 points. You kept your eyes on Orion, always enjoying to watch him fly so smoothly to the goals.
“Watch out!”
You turned your head when you heard Skye warning you, but you were too late to do anything. A Bludger hit your shoulder, making you lose your balance. You fell from your broom, losing your conscious when you hit the ground.

You slowly opened your eyes, knowing you passed out during the match. You were certain you were in the Hospital Wing, like most players who got injured during their Quidditch matches.
“Finally, I was wondering how much longer you would be out.” Skye said with a grin.
“She did make quite a fall, Skye…” Penny said honestly and then she gave you a concerned look. “Are you feeling a little okay? How is your shoulder?”
Oh, that’s right. The Bludger hit your shoulder. You flinched when you slightly moved your shoulder. “Just… Peachy…” You said, gritting your teeth a bit, to prevent your self from yelling in pain.
“Madam Pomfrey will probably ask you to take a Potion to mend your bones.” Skye said with a small smile. “It tastes awful, but it’s a lot better than a Skele-Gro potion.”
“Skye, I don’t think that will make Y/N feel better…” Penny said softly.
“Ah, relax Penny. Y/N is used to me talking like this.” Skye winked. “Besides, she has had Bludger against her face before. Injuries happen during Quidditch and I think Rath could have injured her a lot worse if she had been in a better position.”
“Skye is right, she has injured people a lot worse.” You told Penny honestly.
“You were doing pretty well during the match, Y/N.” McNully said with a smile. “The chances you had during the match were pretty high. I think about 93.3%. Too bad you only had like 3.3% chance to dodge the Bludger Erika Rath sent your way.”
“Yeah, I don’t think you would have been able to dodge that one. I mean, you just passed the Quaffle to Orion and Rath had hit the Bludger in your direction a second after you passed the Quaffle.” Skye said honestly. “Although, you probably should have kept a better eye on Rath when you played the Quaffle to Orion.”
“Don’t be too hard on her, Skye. She did well.” Orion said with a smile. “I mean, we still won the match.”
“Oh, that’s good!” You said excitedly, although you regretted it a second later. You winced, feeling your shoulder again.
Madam Pomfrey quickly hurried over to you and asked everyone to get out of the Hospital Wing for now. “Miss Y/L/N will be able to head before you know it.”
You noticed Orion gave you a sweet smile and a wink before they headed out of the Hospital Wing, making you wonder what that was about.
Madam Pomfrey performed a couple more tests and then she gave you some potions that would make you feel better. You would have to wait and rest a couple of hours in the Hospital Wing before you were allowed to leave again. Waiting to leave the Hospital Wing made you wonder about some things. Why did Orion just wink at you? And why were you staring at him when you passed the Quaffle at him? Sure, you liked watching Orion play, but did you ever stare like that at him before? Also, you were certain he has never winked at you before either. It was pretty confusing…
All this thinking about Orion almost made you forget about the Vaults and everything else. Perhaps it was one of Orion’s techniques to keep your head in the game? He asked you to focus during the game so you would keep your balance. You still did think about the Portrait Curse, but it was less than during your practice and Quidditch Friendly. Also, it didn’t explain why you seemed to be distracted by your own Quidditch Captain and friend… There must have been something you overlooked.
Late in the afternoon, you were free to leave the Hospital Wing again. Your shoulder was feeling slightly sore, but it wasn’t broken anymore. Madam Pomfrey asked you to be a little careful with your shoulder for at least a day. You supposed that would be fine, because you wouldn’t have a Quidditch Practice soon.
As soon as you walked out of the Hospital Wing, you were startled again. “Hello, Y/N.”
“Orion, are you trying to startle me on purpose?” You said when you turned to him.
“Not really, but you are easily startled when you are thinking so deeply.” He said with a grin. “I can almost see the thoughts that are crossing your mind.”
“You just happen to find me whenever I am thinking a lot, Orion.” You rolled your eyes with a small grin.
“I suppose that is true. But maybe that’s a good thing.”
You blinked a bit. “Why would that be a good thing?”
“It might prevent you from overthinking things, Y/N.” He said honestly. “I’m not saying thinking deeply about things are a bad thing, but you tend to think a lot of things and be pretty stressed about it.”
“Well, not everyone can be as relaxed as you are, Orion.” You said with a sigh.
Orion chuckled softly. Did you say something stupid? Why was he laughing? Oh Merlin, you probably said something stupid…
“It’s not like I am never stressed about something, Y/N. I just have found a good way to deal with it.” He said with a sweet smile. “There is no need for you to look so embarrassed.”
Embarrassed? Did you look embarrassed?
“Your cheeks, they are red.”
You put your hands on your cheeks, feeling they were indeed warm. You were like an open book, your face definitely showed everyone what you were thinking.
“It kind of suits you, Y/N.” He said with another smile. “It makes you look pretty cute.”
Cute?! Did he just say blushing makes you look cute?
“Why are you so surprised? I mean, you are pretty cute in general.” Orion grinned.
You were still blushing and then you rolled your eyes. “Very funny, Orion. I almost fell for your words.”
“You don’t believe what I said?”
You gave Orion a look like you were saying ‘are you serious?’ “Of course not. I’m basically the opposite of cute. Who would think someone who is busy with solving the Mysteries around the Cursed Vaults is cute? If anything, you must think I am a complete lunatic!”
“I suppose that means I am a complete lunatic as well.” Orion said seriously.
You shook your head. “No, you are not.”
“Well, I must be one if the person I fancy is a complete lunatic.” Orion said with a grin.
…..
“Excuse me… Did you say you fancy me?” You asked him looking even more surprised.
“What else could I have meant, Y/N?”
Your face became flushed and you just stared at him.
“So, it is possible for your cheeks and face to look even more red.” Orion grinned.
You began hiding your face against your hands. “Shut up…” You muttered.
“Does this mean you fancy me too, Y/N? Or do I have to prove it to you I actually fancy you?” Orion definitely sounded amused.
“Knowing you, I think you are actually being serious right now…” You said, still hiding your face.
Orion laughed softly and then he gently wrapped his arms around you. “You seem to get it right now.”
You took a deep breath and then you wrapped your arms around him too, relaxing slightly.
“That’s better, there is no need to be so tense and embarrassed around me.” He chuckled.
You slowly looked up at him and pouted. “I wouldn’t be so embarrassed and tense if you didn’t keep surprising me like this…”
“I can’t help the fact you are surprised so easily by my words.” Orion laughed softly. “I don’t know whether to feel flattered or not.”
“That’s up to you.” You said with a grin.
