On the one hand, I do absolutely believe that lgbtq+ people are more likely to be YGO fans, but on the other...
This is tumblr.
This poll could be about ANYTHING and 60% of people would be queer.
Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
Speaking of curiosity...
Satisfy my curiosity, would ya?

I have been thinking about an AU like this all week and am THIS close to rewriting half of Kingdom Hearts to facilitate it.
There's nothing I love more than having villains with "the power of friendship" on their side as well. Friendship, love and hope are not exclusive to good guys. Plus Terra, Aqua and Ven are all extremely flawed characters, and that was never explored enough, even in BBS, let alone post-BBS.
I've always hated the time travel AND the 7 lights vs 13 Darknesses AND the "killing a heartless and nobody bring the real person back thing" plotlines of post-DDD KH (I know, I'm real original lol). An AU which makes these three the villains could get rid of those three things in one fell swoop.
It's worth mentioning that there is a great fanfic (that I cannot find but I might try to find it and link it later) that feature Terra and Ventus as villains, but what I'm thinking of is very different.
Anyway, KH rewrites are wonderful and I want in, especially on exactly this premise. These three destroying the worlds' balance while thinking they're helping save each other is too good.
Tumblr media
Okay, but imagine if after Xemnas was defeated, the broken Wayfinder trio served as the villains of the post-KH2 arc.

While that's more money than the poor innkeeper has likely seen in his entire life, that's probably pennies to Wars. Literal pennies, mind you, because in his time, potions cost 10,000+ rupees. In Hyrule Warriors, you could easily drop millions just in weapon upgrades. The economy is in late-stage capitalism and it shows. Wars is just taking advantage of it.

I wasnt tagged, but I did this myself and it was very funny.
New tag game inspired by @bllaaaaarrgh’s post: how competent is each link based on your competency in the game?
Warriors, Four, Legend, Wind: uhhh. nonexistant?
Time: All in all pretty competent! Is crying in the final dungeon but overall in tip-top competency!
Twilight: Not bad. Very clumsy. Has ptsd from the Goron mines and will start crying at the sight of lava. But overall can manage to stumble his way through to victory.
Sky: Is the greatest among his fellows, being the only one to have actually finished his adventure. Actually pretty good with his fighting moves, but suffers from injuries accrued from his constant face planting while failing to sky-dive.
Wild: Pretty average, but not the best when it comes to fighting. Will flee in terror from guardians and lynels alike. Has a habit of screaming in rage at the shrine indicator.
Hyrule: was in possession of incredible godlike powers of time travel, until he realized that such constant use of these powers was dangerous for the space time continuum and is now trapped in Death Mountain wandering in circles.

How competent is each Link based on your competency in the game?
So I saw a post from @telemna-hyelle, who credited this idea to @bllaaaaarrgh, who's original post I couldn't find. But this idea was too good to not do. "How competent is each Link based on your competency in the game?"
Hyrule: The Goddesses themselves had to interfere, not necessarily to get him through fights, but to get him enough rupees to afford potions, arrows, items, etc. Through divine time travel, he always picked the right rupee at the gambling game. He doesn't understand why no one else just does that to get rich quick. In his second adventure, he realized he could also time travel to redo fights and did so frequently. Very incompetent, but with divine intervention, anything is possible.
Legend: While competent in the land of Hyrule, in other countries Legend is a mess. Holodrum and Labrynna have more difficult enemies, more difficult dungeons and even Koholint, while not as bad as Holodrum and Labrynna, still required divine knowledge. Luckily Legend is a beast on home turf, who didn't struggle (that) much in either of his Hyrule quests. His greatest obstacle was Hytopia, which unfortunately required a power not even the great Legend wielded. Friendship. Rather than save the day alone, he vowed to someday return with friends.
Time: Time was very competent during both quests, doing everything that could be done, and even saved Termina very quickly thanks to a few all nighters. He'd be down to up the challenge at some point in the future.
Wind: This kid is cocky and he has every right to be. Not only did he complete his second and third adventures without a single brush with death, he also once had a crazy dream about his first adventure where all his items were scrambled and still beat Ganon handily. He got all 8 pieces of the Triforce before finding a single other item. Peak efficiency has been achieved. He wants the other Links to get on his level.
Four: His first adventure was mostly good, except for the few times he got completely and utterly lost with no idea where to go at all. He never did all the kin stone fusing quests and he really doesn't care (except he kinda really does care). His second adventure was just Green and Red, but that's okay, because they saved Zelda and who really needs Blue and Vio anyway? In his third adventure, Four really did split into four this time, but he was also fake and not real and a pirate because no way four separate people all own Link cables.
Twilight: Twilight is very incompetent at anything after beating Snowhead. The City in the Sky? Who is she? Ganondorf was eventually beaten, but don't ask him to describe anything between Yeta and Hyrule Castle, because as far as Twi is concerned, it may as well have been a fever dream. But wanna know what wasn't a fever dream? All those ridiculously high crossbow scores. He knows where his worth is at.
Sky: Sky has never done anything halfway in his life, and nothing in his life is incomplete or part finished. Never had a problem with his sword, but also never quite figured out how to use a shield. He also has pumpkin related sidequest trauma multiple times over.
Warriors: Warriors doesn't just love his job, he excels at it. He's gotten top marks and gold medals for every mission in all 10 worlds. And because he learned his lesson in his first quest, he also did it all without the Master Sword, because screw the Master Sword, it's too broken. He also owes his life and career to Young Link, Linkle and Marin, but he was no slouch himself.
Wild: Wild thought he was good and amazing and the Goddesses' gift to Hyrule, but then he had a terrible dream where all the chests and goals were scrambled and he got his ass handed to him and couldn't save Zelda or Hyrule in time for the dream to end, and his confidence has been forever shaken. Even in his past life 100 years ago, he ended up not completing everything. Wild is competent enough, but compared to the others, feels very incompetent.

I started a second playthrough of Hades and actually found myself very unsatisfied. I played my first playthrough on God Mode and basically never turned it off, ever. So for my second playthrough I played on Hell Mode, assuming the jump in difficulty would get me enough interesting deaths to see the dialogues. But in the end, I still beat Hades on only my tenth attempt. Considering my first playthrough I first beat Hades on my thirty-something attempt, I felt like the story was massively cheapened with how much dialogue I "missed".
In some ways, Hades is a game that can never be replayed.
And yes, I 100% agree, Pyreball is a lot of fun. I wish I was better at it though. And I also wish I could try playing against a human.
Supergiant game choices
Me playing Hades: I really appreciate that such a story driven game doesn’t have too many choices for me to worry about. Even the ones I do have to make, they tell me to follow my heart and no matter what I do, everything will be okay. I can go through the game without hurting anyone’s feelings permanently.
Me playing Pyre: WHAT DO I DO?! EVERY CHOICE MATTERS! I love everyone and I don’t know who to liberate! Also Rukey told me he could find some treasure, so I listened to him and there WASN’T ANY and now Jodi is mad at me. Would Xae even be happy in the Commonwealth? What if I send her up there and she isn’t able to make any friends??? Is Sandalwood lying to me? Am I going to regret making him my last pick? Now I have to beat the game all over again and make all the opposite choices to see the other 50% of the dialogue!

Ranking the six main boy/girl ships in Yu-Gi-Oh from best to worst!
Not all main girl ships are created equally, I'm afraid. Let's take a look at each ship and see what's up! (Except Sevens because as I mentioned in a previous post, I am way too far behind to comment on anything in that show.)
First up is Anzu and Yugi! And YES I do ship them! However, I don't ship Atem and Anzu. Anzu was friends with Yugi, and started to see him in a different light when Atem started showing up. However, those changing feelings also started to influence her feelings about Yugi as well. We saw that in Duelist Kingdom. Then in season 2 when she realizes they're two separate people, she gets really confused! Anzu doesn't know how to feel anymore! Then Atem and Yugi are both playing wingman for each other, so that's not helping matters. I don't really ship Atem and Anzu because Atem just doesn't seem super interested in their date. I know he had other things on his mind, but if they wanted me to ship it, now was the time to show off some chemistry and they didn't.
We saw in GX that Yugi grows up to look just like Atem and he also grows more confident over the course of the series. After the end of Duel Monsters, I think they're both too hurt by Atem's passing to be digging on each other. But, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and I feel like she's gonna come back from the states and have some heart-pounding feelings when she sees him again. And Yugi's feelings didn't change, they were just put on the back burner. So hopefully when they meet back up, sparks are gonna fly! At least, I hope so. <3
~
Next up is Asuka and Judai! When I watched their first duel, I was 100% on board with this ship. They were cute, they had great banter, it was a fair fight. I loved it! But over the course of the series, I started losing interest in their relationship, fast. By the end of season 2 I was pretty convinced they had abandoned Asuka x Judai for Asuka x Manjoume, and honestly, I was 100% on board with that, I love a good romcom couple and those two have dysfunctional romcom energy. Plus they had evil power couple vibes when they were running the Society of Light together, so I thought for sure they were gonna have Manjoume and Asuka be better friends post possession.
Then season 3 came a long and I was like "woah, they DID do that on purpose! I was right!" when we saw the Judai x Johan x Yubel love triangle they spent the entire season on. Asuka and Manjoume were of course relegated to background characters, as was everyone who wasn't a transfer student. And then the series ended with a pretty definitive Judai x Yubel ending and I was like "cool I like it".
But then season 4 made me question everything by making it clear that Asuka was still crushing on Judai?!?! Uhhh.... what? You haven't mentioned this crush in OVER TWO YEARS ASUKA. You've both changed so much! I thought the whole point was "she had a fleeting crush on him in year 1, but people change and so do our feelings"! I thought they had her fall out of love with him on purpose!! You're telling me the writers just wanted us to ASSUME she was still in love with him this whole time?!
I honestly love the whole "had a crush on him, now that I know him better, he's an amazing friend but I don't like him that way anymore" dynamic and they RUINED IT so bad. And for what? To say "well they fought the whole time, but now look! They can tag duel together!" Well, jokes on them, because a few episodes later Judai and Johan will show off some of the tightest teamwork in the show and I'll have to throw Asuka x Judai in the trash. </3`
~
Yusei x Aki!!!!!! AHHHHHH I LOVE THEM. Their first duel is very romantic in my opinion. Yusei lives to help people, and it's actually a flaw of his that he'll help people no matter the cost. Usually that's sort of a "who cares" flaw in a protagonist, but for Yusei, it adds a lot of depth to his character. The reason he helps people even at the cost of himself is because he feels enormously guilty due to his parents' involvement in Zero Reverse, and he feels like he owes the world (but especially Satellite) everything. Yusei tried to go to jail in Kiryu's stead, but failed, and I think that only compounded his guilt even more.
Then, when Yusei sees the chance to help Aki, he does it. He's scared of her, but he rallies his courage to face her so that he can help her. And it's only natural that Aki would fall hopelessly in love with him after he continually put himself at risk over and over again JUST to help her. I love the episode where she rescues him from being kidnapped and then accompanies him on a riding duel. I think it hits me harder because it reminds me of how much I want to drive a motorcycle but can't because of reasons I won't go into. But part of her desire to learn to riding duel is because she wants to feel the same things Yusei feels. And that's so cute!
Unfortunately, I do have a certain headcanon that gets in the way of my shipping desires. I won't get into the whole headcanon, but I think Yusei might have ended up time travelling back in time to fix Zero Reverse and prevent Zone's future. And Aki wouldn't have come with him because we see her in the flashforward. Yusei is still giving her strength though. And I like to think that maybe a much older Yusei was able to help a much younger Aki control her powers and not enter a cult in the new timeline. And if my headcanon isn't true, then GET MARRIED AND HAVE BABIES GUYS. <3
~
On the one hand, I love Kotori x Yuma. They’re so adorable! Not only is Kotori surprisingly self-aware of her crush (usually the YGO girls love to deny it) but Yuma clearly treats her differently from the rest of his friends, even though he doesn’t know why (yet). Kotori’s confession at the end of the show is SO CUTE AND ADORABLE and Yuma accepts and I love it!
But… I can’t love it as much as I WANT to love it. Kotori’s character, especially in Zexal II is kind of boring. I liked her a lot in Zexal I actually. I thought it was fine to have a character not duel as long as she was doing something else. In season 1 she occasionally gets shit done. Or she’s there for comic relief like when she’s riding the duel coaster. Or arguing with Orbital 7. It wasn’t much, but it was something. In season 2, she’s a total non-entity. I thought the duel where she gets possessed was very funny, but I almost wish that her getting possessed by a Barian was played for drama rather than laughs.
I think what could have been cool is either a) after she can hear Astral, her and Astral team up for a duel or b) when watching Yuma she started to memorize his strategies. Or both. Or neither, just get this girl something to do BESIDES watch Yuma! In the end, my love for how adorable these two are is always somewhat soured by Kotori’s squandered potential. <3
~
Speaking of squandered potential, Yuzu and Yuya are next on the list. I love these two A TON! I’ll be perfectly honest and admit my biases here, I am NOT the biggest fan of Arc-V. The show had a lot of problems, and I’m harsher on it than most.
But one thing I really did like about the beginning of the show was Yuzu! She was independent, driven and her dueling was getting better as the show progressed. Just like Kotori, she became a non-entity in the latter seasons. However, I ship Yuya x Yuzu more than I ship Yuma x Kotori because Yuya was always keeping Yuzu in mind during the latter seasons. So it still felt like the ship was in focus, whereas with Kotori x Yuma, the ship kind of disappeared since more important things were going on. For Yuya, nothing was more important than getting Yuzu back, so really I had no choice BUT to ship it. How could I not? It was so sweet! She was his whole world! I wish we got more scenes with the two of them together though. Them never tag dueling is a crime against humanity. Also its total BS that only Yuya and Yuzu got to come back, but whatever, I guess. I was happy that the two of them reunited and even HAPPIER that the show was finally over. <3
~
Last and basically least, Yusaku x Aoi. Or Playmaker x Blue Maiden. I’ll be honest, I don’t ship this at all. The show doesn’t go through any effort to get us invested in their so-called “relationship” and if I had watched this show on its own, unaware of the series’ tropes, I wouldn’t have assumed they were a “ship” at all. With Judai x Asuka, I actually liked the fake out (at least until S4 when I wondered whether or not the fake out was actually on purpose or if the writers are just morons) but with Yusaku x Aoi I get frustrated because it wouldn’t have been that hard to GIVE them some chemistry. They’re both interesting characters, and I think Aoi and Yusaku could have had an interesting dynamic if Aoi had learned Playmaker’s identity a lot sooner.
What I think the show should have done was have Aoi discover Playmaker and Soulburner’s identity at the same time they discovered each other. Then have Aqua come into the fold a lot earlier. Trios are popular in fiction for a reason, and I think Yusaku, Takeru and Aoi would have been an excellent trio. Specifically, with both Yusaku and Aoi being so reserved, their relationship would be very understated. But that’s not a bad thing. It just means that the writers would have to put more focus on the little things. Like, maybe after a while of being friends, Yusaku sits next to her in class. That would be a small thing for other people, but for those two, that’s huge! I could also see there being a fun episode where Ai tries to trick them into going on a date but fails spectacularly. The two of them end up spending time together to foil the plan. That could be really cute! LITERALLY ANYTHING is better than NOTHING.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I don’t ship this because the writers thought they could get me to ship it just by having boy meets girl and then having them shake hands over a hundred episodes later. And no. I refuse. I need a LITTLE more than that, please and thank you. </3
~
That was a very long post! All in all, 4/6 ain’t bad at all! Or maybe it’s more like a 3.5 since I only gave Kotori and Yuma a small heart? It doesn’t really matter, I’m a multishipper. At my heart and soul, I’ll ship anything. Like I said I don’t ship Judai and Asuka, but I totally have shippy fanart of them on my phone, lol. It’s more like… which of these ships would I defend in court and which ships do I only like because I’m trash that’ll ship anything?
Oh, I guess I did title this as a ranking... Well, I'm sure you can figure out my most and least favourites by how much I used caps lock, so it should be fine.
Give me ANY Yu-Gi-Oh ship (straight, gay or in between) and I’ll dissect it like I did these six.

Each Yu-Gi-Oh Rivalry's Dynamic (DM-Vrains)
So I've been seeing arguments about who is who's rival all throughout my time in this fandom. The usual stuff like "Ryou or Manjoume?" "Shark or Kaito?" I'm pretty used to by now. But I saw someone say that Go is Playmaker's rival in Vrains and my brain died. So I'm writing this.
Every show has a different main character to rival dynamic. The number of duels has nothing to do with it. Who wins and who loses has nothing to do with it. What matters is that there's some sort of dichotomy between the protagonist and rival.
Atem and Kaiba's rivalry is actually really interesting because they both see it differently. For Kaiba, this is a competitive rivalry. He sees Atem as the best opponent, and in Battle City, while he does want the God Cards most, he really wants to have an epic, show-stopping duel with him. Which makes sense, since their other duels had sort of weird conclusions. So a definitive duel with no potential suicide, no exodia, no BS is what he wants most. Even after Atem dies, it's still what he wants most, and he has no problem dragging Atem from the grave in order to do it. Meanwhile, Atem sees this as an ideological rivalry. He wants Kaiba to become a better person through dueling. He spared his life after the Exodia duel because Mokuba told him about how Kaiba used to be a really nice person before Gozaburo screwed him up, and he even uses the Mind Crush shadow game as a way to help him instead of just get revenge, a first for Atem. Part of why Atem and Kaiba can never see eye to eye is because they both think the other views their rivalry the same way they do. Over the course of the GX Majoume and Judai's journeys mirror each other. Manjoume lets go, and becomes more and more relaxed, and enjoying duels more. Judai meanwhile, is put under more and more pressure. That mirroring is what cements them as rivals. When it comes to actual dueling, both Judai and Manjoume didn't really see each other as an end goal. They both had other things to deal with, especially by S3 and S4. For Judai, acknowledging Manjoume as a rival would mean acknowledging Duel Monsters as a competition, something Judai never does. For Manjoume, acknowledging Judai as a rival would hurt his pride. So he calls him a slacker and an annoyance and even a friend, but never a rival.
Jack thought he was better than everyone, and Yusei proved that wrong. Unlike Kaiba or Majoume, who would never admit to being faily defeated, Jack is the one to point out to everyone else that he lost. He even refuses to be called the King because of it. Yusei is a goal for Jack to reach, and that's what their rivalry is based on. Yusei and Jack are friends (more like family, really) first and rivals second. They're comradery is part of their rivalry. Even during their final duel, sure they both want to win, but more than that, they want to encourage the members of 5Ds to choose their paths. So their rivalry is in service to their friendship. Shark is Yuma's rival, and Kaito is Astral's rival. Throughout all of season 1, Astral acknowledges Kaito as the only duelist he's met who surpasses him. In the WDC, when Yuma confronts Kaito, Kaito makes it clear that he's looking for a rematch with Astral, not Yuma. And Shark is Yuma's rival. During most of his duels with Shark, Yuma tells Astral to back off. It's Yuma who trusts Shark in the final duel against him. There's two rivals in Zexal because there are also two main characters. If you need to, you could call Shark the "main" rival, since Yuma is more of a "main character" than Astral, but the idea is still there. It's Astral vs Kaito, Yuma vs Shark. Reiji respects Yuya because he was able to create Pendulum summoning, and it was important for him to get Yuya on his side for the war against Academia. He also looks up to Yuya's father. Reiji is very practical and super intelligent. Meanwhile, Yuya understands people and is emotionally intelligent. The outcome of the duel is predicated on what's most needed at the time. During their second duel, Yuya needs to calm down and the lancers need to act logically with the information they have, rather than storming off to save Yuzu. But at the end of the series, what people (and especially Reira/Zarc) need is levity, so Yuya wins. It's an ideological rivalry, where whoever's right, wins. And lastly, Yusaku and Ryoken are rivals because they're both ruled by the same past incident. Every action Playmaker and Revolver take are informed by the Lost Incident. They didn't stop dueling each other in S2 because either of them changed fundamentally. They just never come into conflict again. Neither of them duel for pleasure, they both duel to achieve their goals. In this case, it's actually their similarities that make them rivals, rather than their differences. They're both looking to bury the incident, but for Yusaku that means getting vengeance and for Ryoken that means burying the Ignis. They're both unmoving in that goal, so it's sort of like Unstoppable Force vs Unmoveable Object. Which sort of explains why half of their duels ended in ties. What makes a Yu-Gi-Oh rivalry isn't the number of duels someone has, or else Yusei's rival would be Ushio! And it isn't how much fun or how excited someone gets, or Judai's rival would be Johan or Ryou. What's important is the dichotomy between the two duelists. The rivalry needs some sort of chemistry outside the duels to be a real rivalry.
As for Sevens, I'm really far behind, I'm only on episode like, 14? So I need to catch up first before I can comment on it.

That is absolutely true, but I can't play this game an infinite number of times. In my True Nightwings playthrough I'm going to see what happens if no one in my party is liberated and that's going to be where my experience with Pyre will likely end. Maybe I'll look up some character interactions on YouTube if there's something particularly interesting I've missed though.

10 Years Later - The Seven Barian Emperors adjusting to adult human life
So I just discovered it's Zexal week! I'm actually doing a rewatch of Zexal right now, my roommate has decided they want to watch all of the YGOs and having finished GX and 5Ds, we're now on Zexal! Zexal is my second favourite YGO show and I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the show!
As for the characters ten years later, I DO have some thoughts.
Specifically I really want to talk about the Barians. 10 years later, they would all be between 22 and 25. For some reason, Astral just decided that some of them are older than others and I don't know if there was any logic behind that Numeron Code decision. Regardless of age, I feel that some of the Barian Emperors are far better equipped for adult human life than others.
Shark and Rio would be just fine, for obvious reasons. Shark genuinely enjoys competitive dueling, as we saw in the flashback before IV screwed him over, so I think he could definitely make a living off of it. He would use the prize money to help the other Barians, especially Durbe and Rio, who are in school. Shark also has to deal with fame now that he's the Asian Champion, and with that fame comes a lot of fans, hassle and memes, all of which he handles extraordinarily badly. But he keeps going for love of the game.
As for Rio, she is the most ambitious, and I see her becoming a doctor/nurse. She wants to take care of people (like we saw in her past life) and her life was saved by doctors multiple times in the series, causing her to look up to them. So she's currently in medical school, which is very difficult work. However, I also think she plays a role in protecting the human world and the Astral/Barian combined world from outside threats. In early season 2 we saw that she clearly has gifts of prophecy, and I think she would definitely use those gifts to help protect the worlds. She's also the whip that keeps the other Barians in place when they get too rowdy, especially when they all get together.
The third Barian that I could see adapting really well to personhood is Durbe. In school I think he would ignore classes like Japanese and Math to fixate on history. Not necessarily history from his own time, but rather trying to tie together the history of duel monsters and how the world got to where it is now. Even though his teachers tried to tell him that a degree in history wouldn't get him very far, he didn't care and went for it anyway. He's also a menace to the Barians who aren't getting higher education, which is most of them.
The Barian least well-adjusted is Mizael, who has basically abandoned human civilization and is now living on the combined Astral/Barian world. He completed middle and high school (entirely against his will) and now only goes to the human world to duel Kaito or because the Barians are holding a party. Mizael can no longer Barianphose, which sucks for him because he doesn't really like his human body, something he mentioned a couple of times in Zexal. He and Astral have also become surprisingly good friends over the years. The two of them are the kind of friends who like being in the same room but doing separate things. He also deepened his friendship with Kaito, and Kaito and V are the people he goes to when he doesn't understand something about humans, which is often.
Girag, Alit and Vector are all somewhere in the middle. Vector is struggling with the human world a lot. But unlike Mizael, he isn't willing to simply abandon it. Vector hasn't been able to find happiness in the human world, but he doesn't think Astral/Barian would make him any happier. He ran a gang all throughout high school, but when he turned 19 he abandoned it, and now he doesn't know what to do. He doesn't really have the energy to hate Nasch or Yuma the way he used to, but he doesn't really like them either. He's emotionally numb in a way he never used to be. Yuma is trying to help him find a goal to get him "out of the boring world" and encourage him to kattobing. But after living with hatred for hundreds of years, living without it is an adjustment that, even ten years later, isn't easy.
Meanwhile Alit has adjusted pretty much right in the middle. He isn't really thriving or struggling. He took a bartending job at the BARian, and he likes it well enough that it can support him while he does the stuff he actually cares about, which is sports, dueling, and hanging out with his friends. And dating, A LOT of dating. He engages in a lot of casual hook ups and parties. To the rest of the Barians, whom are either fairly milquetoast or not at all interested in relationships with humans, he's kind of embarrassing.
Lastly there's Girag, who basically takes adult life one challenge at a time. He's sort of like Alit, in that he lives for his hobbies. But unlike Alit, who has a steady job, Girag is kind of a mess and goes back and forth between employed and unemployed a lot. Whenever he's unemployed, he usually makes a run at professional dueling. He never really succeeds at pro dueling though, since his skills just aren't polished enough. He actually spends a lot of time at the Duel Lodge, because Ponta likes it there, and he'll do whatever Ponta says.
So the Barians, from most to least adjusted adult (in my own personal headcanon, anyways) goes something like Rio, Ryoga, Durbe, Alit, Girag, Vector, and lastly Mizael.

Danganronpa V3 Korekiyo Shinguji Theory (Spoilers for Chapter 3 and Kiyo’s FTEs)
After the third class trial, Korekiyo tells us all about the relationship he had with his sister, and how he didn’t consider it a sin, even though everyone else, including the other participants in the class trial, definitely considered it wrong to have relations with your sibling.
I’d like to point out the inherent genius of having Korekiyo Shinguji, the Ultimate Anthropologist, be in an incestuous relationship.
In Korekiyo’s Free Time Events, he talks about how the focus of his study is the similarities between many different cultures around the world. For example, he mentions that seances must be real, because the entire world has written about them. If all of humanity comes to the same conclusion, then it must be right. That’s Kiyo’s stance on anthropology.
What a coincidence then, that in many, many cultures, all around the world, including Japan, that incest is a huge part of folklore. Countless Gods, all around the world marry and reproduce with their siblings. This includes most of the Greek/Roman pantheon, Shu and Tefnut from Egypt, Fu Xi and Nuwa from Chinese mythology, and most damning of all, Izanagi and Izanami as well as Amaterasu and Susano-O from Japanese mythology. The former who were siblings that married, and later had three children, and the latter who were siblings that never married, but had eight kids together.
Incest has also long been a part of many cultures that strive to keep blood within the family. Nobility in Europe and China marry siblings and cousins to keep money in the family and blood “pure”. I’m not sure if Japan did this also, but considering how popular it was in other parts of the world, and the fact that Japan did have an exclusive nobility, it wouldn’t surprise me.
This doesn’t get Kiyo off the hook though. Plus, some cultures, like the Norse and Vietnamese, did frown upon incest. Frowning upon incestuous relations isn’t a completely modern concept. And mass murder has never been condoned either. I just thought it was interesting that our resident anthropologist may have been getting very old love advice.
(Just so everyone knows, all of my information is coming from the Third Edition of World Mythology – An Anthology of the Great Myths and Epics, by Donna Rosenberg. I took a class on mythology last semester, and I still had the book lying around. My teacher gave a mini lecture about incest in mythology, and as soon as I saw Kiyo’s breakdown in Chapter 3, I was immediately reminded of it.)

Danganronpa V3 Chapter 3 Theory (Spoilers for Chapter 6)
In chapter 3 of Danganronpa V3, we learn that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to bring the dead back to life, right? However, in the case of the killing game, anything is possible. I’d like to propose this.
How would Chapter 3 have played out had Angie succeeded in “bringing back” Rantaro? I think that Tsumugi, the Ultimate Cosplayer, would have cosplayed as Amami Rantaro, effectively bringing him back to life.
Tsumugi wrote (or at the very least knew) everything about Amami’s character, meaning she would be able to cosplay as him perfectly. He’s a fictional character from the 52nd Killing Game after all. Tsumugi said herself that she can cosplay as ANY character from the past killing games, but she only did those from 1 and 2 because we wouldn’t recognize anyone else.
But Tsumugi can’t be in two places at once. So, what would’ve happened to the “Tsumugi character”? I believe she would’ve been found “dead”. The cause of death would be either “unknown” or something supernatural like choking or falling down the stairs mysteriously. It would come out in the trial that the Necronomicon takes a student’s life in exchange for bringing someone back. Thus, making the killer Angie. Of course, Angie didn’t really kill anyone. It’s just Tsumugi once again framing someone else for her own crime.
This also explains how the Necronomicon could be considered a motive, since we never got any clarification about that. After all, it’s not like the Mastermind knew for certain that Korekiyo would murder Angie before the ritual, especially since Kiyo didn’t PLAN to do that. This ensures that someone dies for the third chapter.
We already know that the Mastermind is willing to take things into her own hands if necessary, and I think this fits that bill.
