"PERSPECTIVE: In a world where some can close their eyes to suffering, others are forced to endure it without respite. Let’s remember our privilege to switch off, and consider the lives that can’t.”
All of these mentioned problems within society are handled flawlessly and executed rather horrifically accurate... I've had moments in which I felt unsettled, however in others strangely I felt comforted.
Therefore, Lacey's games succeeds at comforting the disturbed and disturbing the comfortable. I speak based on my experience while watching it, though.
sorry just. i go so mad over laceygames like. it’s about the way girls are sold a comforting vision of the patriarchy and how girls are taught to be feminine since a young age. it’s about the abuse that happens to women and girls forcing them to be that. it’s about the trauma of oppression and the cycle of abuse that can cause. it’s about ableism. it’s about how stalking and abuse and rape aren’t taken seriously because they’re “girl issues” and either you’re a girl and ignored or you’re not and mocked. it’s about how the reality of oppression doesn’t match the rosy views we're shown and it’s about how little we reach out to hurting kids. it’s about trauma in art and how we put ourselves into our creations. it’s about how trauma is an endless cycle. it’s so much and i love it.
