My entry for @shiftythrifting’s Face of Wisdom contest. I (digitally) turned one of my clowns into a Beet Poot doll. I think clowns really embody the spirit of shifty thrifting ::-) Happy #BeetPootDay2022 !

A large poot, the coop poot. He smirks knowing creatures of the night can't hurt his chickens.

I’m really looking forward to when people come to fit proper flooring in my flat. (making the gif took 30 times more more effort than the artwork btw)

From mythology.net:
"Asmodeus may be the “prince of lust,” but his looks aren’t exactly tantalizing! He is a monstrous creature with three heads: one like a sheep, one like a bull, and one like a man. The man’s face may sound like the most normal, but with pointed ears, [. . .]and a fire-breathing mouth, this “human” characteristic is perhaps the most ghoulish of all!
All of Asmodeus’s heads are crowded above one chest, which resembles a man. At the waist, his body undergoes another bizarre transformation, giving him the brightly-feathered legs of a rooster and the scaly tail of a serpent.
As if Asmodeus isn’t strange and disturbing enough, the demon rides an equally weird steed: a lion with the wings and neck of a dragon.
90% thrifted. Found the man, bull, chicken and lizard all in one day. Had the yarn to make his fire breath from previous trip. All other materials I already owned. I didn't buy anything for this other than the pattern for the rams head.

The Bean Mother
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where do all the stuffed animals come from at the thrift store anyway? You go in one day and there are only six maybe seven on the shelf. You come back next week, and huh that's odd. There's a handful more. You revisit a few days later, now there isn't a crowded shelf but an infant pack n play filled to the brim with discarded plush. You turn around: shiny wire shelving is there. Dozens and dozens of black beady eyes are staring at you. White plastic chains are strung along the wall, their links are melded with hundreds of soft plush bodies. Something shifts in the corner of your vision, however it is hard to focus on a single shape.
Kinda weird.
---
The Bean Mother was created using four thrifted beanie babies, a single large pink carnival bear, ribbon, ink, paint and thread. All items, except the acrylic paint, were thrifted.
The Bean Mother hopes that from the bottom of her heart shaped toes, the next time you visit the thrift and pass by the toys, you stop. Take a small glance at all of her children and gently hold a paw or hoof in your hand.

Creachure made mostly of an MLP figure, used newspaper, and leftover wire piping. Everything from a craft stash, except the pony which was recovered from a friend before it could be donated

Here you see Earthworm Jimothy in his natural habitat, stealing from the office first aid kit. Jimothy hordes hand sanitizer, despite having no hands. Don’t be like Jimothy.
He was made out of a thrifted Furby, faux fur from Scrap PDX, and one legwarmer from an IKEA children’s Halloween costume.

Hiya, I sent in a bunch of pictures over on Instagram as this link wasn’t loading for me - I also asked some rules clarifications as I wanted to be sure it wasn’t location specific, like just the US or something
I don’t think the Instagram messages have actually managed to send - the loading wheel is still there on all the photos, and it’s getting close to the deadline so I figured I’d send here as well (I have the same username) :)

Hello, I'm Katie. This friend is made from clay from a failed project, cotton, and a lot of my nannies' stuff. She passed about a month ago, and we were pretty close. She lived with us so all of her stuff was left here. His body is a pillow case of hers, his clothes and cloak made from his shirts. The majority of her clothes are going to some thrift stores. I'm happy to have this as a little way to remember her.
Now, Monster lore! This friend's name is green bean. He has a clay mask that he uses to wear out in public to look more .... Human? He doesn't really get people but he is doing his best. He likes pinks and purples. A fashionista ! Loves kraft macaroni.
Take care , have an amazing October and thank you for making a really fun contest!
