QSMP AU - Project A6-DOMINATION - Prologue
Katran’s P.O.V.
It started as a day like any other, he wakes up, eat breakfast, start on doing some experiments, his examiners asks about how he’s feeling, does some exercise, eat lunch, does some more experiments, goes back to his room, study a lot on the small shelf with books on his room, takes a bath, eat dinner and sleeps. Repeat.
It’s a mundane thing. He knows it. And he pretty much got used to this situation, although, deep down in his heart, he doesn’t agree with it, but doesn’t show it in his face. He doesn’t let his emotions be known, that’s what they want, after all.
Although… there’s a part of his day that makes him feel at little bit better. When he gets out of his room, sometimes he sees a wavy blonde haired guy with cyan tips with light green eyes, beige skin, wolf tail and ears and a curly black haired guy with black eyes, beige skin and clipped black wings interacting each other. He doesn’t understand a single thing they say, but he likes to just watch them, their joy and happiness being freely shown to one another, a thing he hasn’t been able to show.
He likes to observe especially the blonde guy, his smile and laugh captivated him the first time he saw it, wanting to know why he laughed and how he can do it. But the more times he observed him, the more he felt something for the blonde, something he can’t explain what it is.
Whatever. He shouldn’t be thinking these things now, otherwise, THEY might discover it and reprimand him. He looked to the roof, already in bed, preparing to sleep.
Sometimes, he has strange dreams he can’t explain what they are or where they come from. Sometimes he dreams of playing with a girl, she looked to be older than him, and at the end of the dream, he could only see everything burning, like a movie roll being burned.
His eyes are getting heavy, and the last thing he hears before falling asleep is the sound of something really heavy falling and people screaming.
Kauan’s P.O.V.
It was another amazing day for him, he got up, ate breakfast, made some experiments, answered questions of the staff, went to the library of the facility, ate lunch, made some more experiments, painted a picture, talked with staff, ate dinner, went back to his room, took a bath and is now laying on bed.
The staff taking care of him is amazing, they are so kind to him and are always happy to see him, and he’s the same to them… although he doesn’t like the evil man who comes once in a while to check on him. He’s the only one who treats him badly for being too emotional and not wanting to do test he judges being too dangerous. He doesn’t know what he’s doing wrong, every other staff treats him like a friend, at least a friend he sees in the books he reads in library.
One person he considers being a friend is Zach. He learned his name, although with a bit of difficulty, their languages being similar but also different. Zach is a man with black hair, black eyes and clipped black wings, he asked Zach one time why his wings are clipped, but the black haired man said he didn’t know why. He finds it odd, after all, aren’t birds supposed to fly? He would find it enchanting to see a bird, there isn’t any pets on the facility, except if you count the guard dog.
Kauan always likes to read the library books, but he does it hidden, he doesn’t think that the staff knows he’s reading the books from the library, but if they know, he thinks they ignore it. It’s not that it’s anything inapropriate for him, but he thinks they wouldn’t approve having thoughts like these, after all, they strive for conformation, and he thinks they wouldn’t approve if Kauan’s ideas were against their ideals.
Reading these books is one of the favorite parts of his day. He reads about fairytales, horror books, mythology stories, sci-fi, everything you can think of! Even didatic books! But his favorites are romance and slice-of-life books. He likes to imagine how life would be outside of the facility he’s in, and how nice would be to have someone else at his side.
...There was one day he was talking to Zach and he noticed someone walking by past him, he saw a man with red eyes and yellow pupils, straight white hair like the snow in the graphic novel books, black triangle-shaped animal ears that are on each side of his head instead of being above his head, pale skin and black marks that covers his skin from one eye to another and a small black mark on his nose, besides the two white and black tails behind him.
When he first saw him, his heart fluttered for a second, and he kept staring where the white haired man went. He was almost pretty sure he was looking at him too. Zach made fun of him because he was blushing and he had to hold so much back to not punch him. Since that day, he couldn’t stop thinking about that man and how he would like to see him again and perhaps talk a bit with him. He didn’t even know there were other people in the facility besides him, Zach and the staff.
The day he met Zach was a bit strange. He never told the people taking care of him about that, because it was implied he couldn’t talk to anyone else besides them and the staff working there.
He was going to his usual place on the library and he bumped into Zach who was speeding through the corridor. Turns out he was late for his experiments, and if he didn’t hurry up, they would punish him. He didn’t even know they punish you if you get late to the experiments. And since he was already late for it, Zach said it didn’t matter anymore and spent some time with Kauan until he went to eat lunch. Since that they, they met at the library after they did their experiments and talked for a few minutes before they went their separate ways.
Kauan is grateful for Zach. Really. He thinks he would’ve gone insane if he didn’t have an actual friend like him, even though he’s a little bit chaotic for a place like this. The staff are his friends too, but Zach is a person who he can share his secrets without having the fear of being reprimanded by the staff or getting hurt by the evil man.
He’s reading a book about nature, and his eyes are getting heavy while he’s reading it. The last thing he hears before sleeping with the book laying on his chest is something really heavy falling and screams.
Zach’s P.O.V.
His day already started going wrong. He woke up late, didn’t ate enough food on breakfast, his examiners only scolded him during his experiments, someone stole his lunch, his afternoon experiments were shit – everything in his body was hurting, the craft room was closed, dinner tasted horrible, his shower was too hot when he went back to his room and couldn’t fix it and his bed broke. Just perfect, although the staff said they were going to replace his bed the next morning.
Although one thing made his day not be so horrible, and it’s his meeting with Kauan, the blonde wavy haired guy with cyan tips, green eyes and wolf ears and tail. Kauan has his right eye blinded, but that doesn’t stop him from being the most agile person he has ever seen and a man with good eye for details in his paintings too.
Kauan is a person so easy to tease. One time he caught Kauan blushing at a guy with white hair, black triangle-shaped animal ears on the side of his head, red eyes with yellow pupils, two tails and marks on his face passing by and he teased him about that so much that the blonde looked like he wanted to punch him so much but couldn’t in fear of being reprimanded by staff.
His fascination with the blonde never stops, and he appreciates that. It makes his life more tolerable with how the staff treats him. Kauan’s imagination about what’s like on the world outside of the facility never ceases to amaze him, although he half understand the things he say, and leaves him thinking about that too sometimes.
He started questioning things they have been as soon as he met Kauan. He never knew there was someone else like him on the facility as well. And there were other things he was questioning too, like why can’t they leave; if he met Kauan here, there are others like them too; why they are doing experiments to them; and most importantly: why his wings are clipped.
He never thought about that before Kauan asked that. It’s just that, once you begin living with it, you don’t question it and get used to it before someone pointing out what’s wrong about the situation.
After that, he began dreaming he was a kid, with his wing not clipped, and he was flying through the bright blue sky and the clouds that Kauan tells in his stories on the books he reads. Although, he always lived at the facility, even when he was a kid, that’s why he doesn’t understand he’s dreaming that.
Anyways, tomorrow is another day without mistakes, and hopefully the evil guy won’t appear to punish him for his behavior of the past few days. He closes his eyes and the last thing he hears before falling asleep is of something really heavy falling, a faint roar in the distance and screams.
Zammy’s P.O.V.
His day started like most, he woke up, ate breakfast, did some experiments, went to the library to read sci-fi and other things, ate lunch, did more experiments, slept for the rest of the afternoon, ate dinner, went back to his room, took a bath and wrote some puns he thought about while reading the books on the library.
You could say it looked like a normal day, nothing wrong with that, but he knows whats going on. The staff thinks he doesn’t because he pretends to be dumb and not knowing anything, but he knows there are more people being tested at this facility and there’s someone keeping them there. Not letting them leave and see the outside world. Everyday he eavesdropped on the staff conversations and learned about some interesting stuff that could may or not help him escape from there.
There is this guy, WA02, the people with him called him that, he wears a blue helmet and a blue vest and he has really white skin, like paper, and paws, he writes all the reports the staff gives him. Sometimes they talk in a language he can’t understand, so some of the information he gets is pretty useless if he can’t undestand, but he tries his best to understand. Today they informed they would be doing more intense tests on a girl called Lua.
The name sounds familiar to him, it feels like he heard it in some unknown past. He thinks it would make sense he would have probably heard it before, after all, he’s been dreaming these past few months of a boy called Jason. The name sounded familiar to him too, but in a different way, like it was one of the most important things he couldn’t ever forget of.
He can only hope they don’t hurt too much this girl, because they have also done these intense tests on him too, and it hurt so much.
He looked at a mirror on the other side of his bed, he saw his messy slightly wavy dark cyan hair with orange tips and bear ears and his lazy orange eyes. He had eye bags under his eyes. Most days he stays up until late, but today it felt like he was supposed to sleep earlier than usual.
Welp, a bear like him needs his rest. He closed his eyes and the last thing he hears before falling asleep was something really heavy falling, a roar in the distance, people screaming and distant gunshot sounds.
Violety’s P.O.V.
It started like any other bullcrap day. She woke up, ate breakfast, did some experiments, gave feedback to her examiners, went to the music room, ate lunch, did some more experiments, trained a sport with the staff’s permission, went back to her room, took a bath and started humming a song to sleep.
It was so frustrating, her best-friend Lua told her they were going to do some intense experimentations on her during the night and there was nothing she could do to stop it from happening. Violety had one of these tests before and she couldn’t move properly the day after because of the tests. And it was because she broke one of the rules that bear told her.
Lua wasn’t by all means a saint, but she didn’t deserve one of these tests either. Lua was a girl with curly purple hair, cat ears, black eyes, olive skin, a moon with stars mark on her cheek, covered by a band-aid, and a demon tail. The girl revealed to her that she also has black wings, but doesn’t show them because it’s difficult to summon them.
Violety met her on her way to the music room. Initially, Lua was a shy girl, and she was hidden inside the music room because she didn’t wanted the staff to find her. She told Violety that she was their favorite do to experiments on, and that she was tired of having to do them every single day. Violety stayed with her as long as she needed before going to get lunch.
That day was when they were about 7 years old. Now they are both 17, Lua having her birthday earlier than her, and to this day they have meetings on the music room. Violety even taught Lua how to play guitar, and she met Lua’s true self; a mischievous little half demon half cat who has quite some choice words and is someone really understanding, calm and quite the magic dreamer. She can’t understand Lua in the language she talks, but they created their own language to try to understand what the other is saying.
Violety can only hope she will see her friend well on the next day. As she falls asleep, while her humming is slowly stopping, the last thing she hears before falling asleep was of something breaking in the distance, something really heavy falling, a roar, people screaming, gunshot sounds and fast footsteps on the distance.
Clara Victory's P.O.V.
Her day was perfect. She woke up, ate breakfast, did some experiments, gave detailed answers about how she’s feeling to the staff, went to the sewing room and made some scarfs to give to staff as a gift, ate lunch, did some more experiments, went back to her room, studied the rules that were given to her, ate dinner, took a bath and is tucked comfortably in bed.
It was a perfect day like any else. No need to complain about anything, there was no reason for her wanting to leave this facility, her life was perfect, after all.
Although… if she wanted to complain about something, it would be about her white clipped wings. She would like if they stopped plucking her feathers from her wing, it hurts so much and she can’t cry or complain about it, about the blood that drips from the place the feathers were plucked, the agonizing pain it came with it and the shame that came with it that she couldn’t get away from it or stop it from happening. Otherwise, they would punish her hard, and then she wouldn’t be following the rules that were given to her. After all, she needs to be conformed with it.
She pushed away these thoughts. She shouldn’t be thinking about things like that, after all, everything in there was perfect, you just need to put a smile on your face and do everything they want that your day will be perfect.
She looked at the mirror besides her bed. Her straight blonde hair with white tips was falling down behind her, her light blue eyes stared back at her, she saw her cat ears on her head, her clipped wings tucked gently behind her and subtly her tail hidden on her side. Her skin was a bit more paler than usual, perhaps because of the blood loss, but that was necessary to have a perfect life.
She closed her eyes and started falling asleep pretty quickly. The last thing she hears before falling asleep was something loudly breaking, something really heavy falling, a loud roar, people screaming, gunshot sounds, and people running past her door.
Lua's P.O.V.
Her day started like usual. She woke up, ate breakfast, did some experiments, went to the music room, ate lunch, had the afternoon to do what she wanted, so she went to the library and studied about mythology, magic and rituals, went back to her room, did some light exercises, ate dinner and was called to do some unique night experiments, something she never did before.
She had a bad feeling from it since the start. When she told Violety, her best-friend, that they were planning to do some intense experimentations on her that night, she could see her friend’s beige skin lose its color.
Violety is a pretty girl, she has straight cyan hair with brown tips, has blue eyes and a wolf tail and wolf ears. She met Violety while hiding on the music room from the staff. She was the first nice person she met on life, and it meant so much for her.
Lua never went a day without bandages on her arms or legs, not even in her oldest memories from when she was 6 years old. She wasn’t dumb as the staff told her she was or naive, although she used to be when she was younger.
She knows something is going on behind the scenes, but doesn’t know what, and she can’t even eavesdrop on their conversations because they feel she’s there. It’s unfair, really. Perhaps it’s because of her partially demon self? She doesn’t know.
She was guided to her experiment room and began to do her tests.
It. Hurt. Like. Hell.
Now she understood why Violety looked so pale and shocked when she told her that. It was way more painful than the usual tests they do to her, it feels like they are trying to extract her soul from her body, to make her wish she wasn’t even thought to exist by someone.
All she could do was to scream, cry, and persevere through this situation.
She was beginning to hallucinate through her pain. She was seeing a boy younger than her standing in front of her, reaching out to her in tears, while he couldn’t do nothing to help her. She feels like she knows this kid from some place, but she can’t remember where.
Then, the boy disappears and a voice begins to roam her mind. It wasn’t her voice, or from anyone else in the room. It was a voice from a man she feels like she heard it before. It told her to get revenge for what they were doing to her, to get her freedom, to make them pay, to kill them.
Kill them. Kill them. Kill them. Kill them.
The last thing she remembers before losing consciousness was she broke the chains keeping her from leaving, knocked down a big machine besides her and felt herself changing, physically and in personality, and a big roar that she made.

Hi
Hey guys! Sorry for being inactive on my profile. School has been eating me up and I got creator's block while doing VS: A New Perspective. So, here's what I'm doing: I'll be putting VS: A New Perspective on hiatus until I rewrite the chapter I'm doing and post it here. I'll be posting 2 new stories for you guys too! One is almost done, and the prologue of one is finished. I'll be posting the one with the prologue here today, and I hope you guys like it. Sorry again for not being active, and... wow! Thanks for the followers! I never imagined my blog would have this amount of people reading it. I'll be doing my best to give you guys the content you want. That's about it for now, see you soon...

Been a while! Random scenario number 2: You see your neighbor T-Posing at their window, what do you do?
I would do what a fellow normal human being would do.
I would T-Pose right back at them to assert my dominance, proceeding to do a battle of who can assert dominance the longest.

Random Scenario: A guy asks for your hat in exchange for a paint can (not a spray one) and name tag, would you accept?
Well, it depends on a few factors.
Is the hat one of my favorites? Is it one I despise and would give anything to have it out of my sight? Is it one I don't like it very much but use it because of emotional reasons? What kind of paint is in the can and what color is it? Is the name tag blank or is something written on it?
In the scenario where I'll do anything to see the hat out of my way, I would gladly accept the paint can and name tag, since I like to paint/draw and the name tag would make good use to a dog collar or to one of my plushies. Now, in the case if it's one of my favorites and I'm emotionally attached to it, I would try to negotiate with them in giving them something other than the hat, otherwise if they don't want something else instead of the hat, I wouldn't accept it.

I'm doing a quick post right now because I'll be postponing the next chapter for a while. The reason I'll be postponing the next chapter of VS:A New Perspective is because I'm waiting for my art table to arrive, since drawing on my phone is becoming difficult and I don't know when it will arrive.
Oh, and about that Christmas story, I decided I'll be releasing it next Christmas, since I couldn't finish it on time. I know I haven't been very active here, and I'm quite busy in real life, but I'll try to always make a little time for you guys.
Also, once my art table arrives, I'll be making some artwork non-related to VS:A New Perspective. I wonder how would you feel about meeting some creatures to catch, will you catch 'em all?

Merry Christmas, everyone!
I had intended to also post a story along with the drawing, but I couldn't finish it on time for my vacation, so you'll have to wait for it after the 27th or the 28th.
Anyways, this is an art collab for Christmas that me and @knightmareaceblue made. Go check on their profile, they're really an amazing person.

I started at Chp. 2's title illustration for a while and asked myself if those were Bolt-Action Rifles, Muskets, or Shotguns. I don't really care anymore 😅.
Oh, they were rifles (I think that's what they're called), since I can't draw guns, I got the rifles from the internet and made a transparent background so I could add it into the drawing. Here's the picture:

About the next chapter of VS: A New Perspective
Hello everyone! Arty is here! As you can already guess from the title, I want to say something about the next chapter: There won't be any new chapters this month, due that I'm on my finals and I'm waiting for my art table that my dad is going to buy for me. That way, I'll be able to do the illustrations on my computer so much easier and won't need to use my phone to make them.
I'm sorry for the delay of chapter 4, but I can guarantee you that once my finals are over and the results are in (so that I know if I made the cut to go to High School) I'll work on full force to bring chapter 4 to you! And as a little gift, I'll also be writing a side story of VS: A New Perspective! Now, please, be patient on this lovely autumn/winter season for it, there's also another thing coming up for you guys but I don't want to give any spoilers yet.
That's all, see you on the flipside!

Valiant Souls: A New Perspective - A Shining HOPE
Tumblr media
Morning came as quickly as she went to sleep. The sunlight bathed Lydia's face, waking her up. She rubbed her eyes as she sat up and she surprisingly felt great! Maybe the positivity of yesterday had some effect on her, who knows?
She heard her stomach growl.
Well, maybe not that great. She should've eaten something last night but she can't do anything about it now. She'll pass by the cafeteria and grab something to eat.
Lydia reached for her nightstand drawer and grabbed a hairbrush and started brushing her hair. When she was done brushing her hair, she noticed that she left her phone in the drawer for 2 days and she didn't even notice! Man, her parents were probably angry with her for not giving any news, but it's not like she has much to tell other than Charles has d-
Nope, we're not doing this today.
She tied her hair in a ponytail and grabbed her phone, she turned it on and went on the internet. She was immediately bombarded with videos and pictures about the monsters in their camp.
"What the hell?" Lydia muttered, how did these videos get on the internet? Did someone pass by their camp and saw the monsters? No, unlikely. Citizens can't normally come here without being accompanied by a soldier or being allies with the government. Maybe one of the soldiers posted it? Who?
Lydia had a guess, but she couldn't prove it, because it could be any soldier. They hadn't warmed up completely with the monsters, so anyone had a chance of being the one who uploaded the pictures and the videos.
In any case, she would try to find the culprit later. For now, she had to help with the monsters. She got up from her bed and changed her pj's to her uniform, she put on her hat and her scarf and left her tent.
She was immediately greeted by Konrad and his twin, Calvin, who were just about to enter her tent to probably wake her up.
"Lily, did you see the news?" Konrad asked her, without hesitation.
"Uh, yeah! I just got up and remembered I had a phone. Anyways, does anyone knows who submitted the pictures and the videos?" Lydia asked while walking with the twins to the cafeteria tent.
"Nope, and General's furious with the situation." Calvin said, looking more serious than he ever looked in his life. "He said that everyone's tent is going to be searched to find the culprit."
"You didn't wake up yet so we decided to pass by and wake you up to tell the news." Konrad said.
"Ah, but man, why would someone do that?" Lydia complained. "They've been stuck underground for maybe centuries, losing HOPE of seeing the surface again, and then when they're finally free, people paint them in a bad light just because they're different from us."
They kept silent for a while until Lydia sighed and whined when they were halfway to the cafeteria tent.
"Man, I'm so hungry, I didn't eat anything for two nights in a row, and I still have to hear my parents scolding me for not giving any news about me."
"What?" Konrad says, looking extremely concerned. "You haven't eaten anything for TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW? WHY LYDIA?!"
"I didn't feel hungry, okay?" Lydia said, shrugging at him. "I didn't feel hungry so I went straight to sleep."
"Why are we walking slowly? We have to go faster to get you something to eat! Urgently!" Konrad said while grabbing Lydia's shoulders and making her move forward faster.
"Bro, calm down." Calvin said, tapping his brother's shoulder while keeping up with their pace. "I know you're worried about her, but she won't die just because she didn't eat for two nights."
"Oh, is that so?" Konrad said while glaring at his brother. "Yeah, I agree with you, but have you thought that she should've FAINTED or at least feel LIGHTHEADED?"
Calvin was about to say something, but whatever he was planning to say didn't come out. He probably didn't want to argue with his brother so early in the morning. Actually, he once told Lydia that he hates arguing with his brother early in the morning for two reasons: It was too early for it and he wasn't paid enough for it.
They got to the cafeteria tent and entered it, and they immediately saw some monsters sitting at tables, Frisk and a couple of soldiers were distributing meals to everyone.
They reluctantly grabbed some ready-to-eat meals and sat at an empty table. Lydia unwrapped her MRE, grabbed her spoon, and started to eat her lemon pepper tuna.
Her eyes widened as she ate it, "Damn, I don't remember eating anything this good!" she thought. She looked over at the twins and their expressions were the same as hers. They quickly finished their food as if they didn't eat for several days and went straight to Frisk who was giving food to a monster about their height that looked like a dinosaur but with no arms.
"Hey! You're Ambassador Frisk, right?" Lydia called them out.
Frisk looked at them, apparently shocked to see the soldiers coming to talk with them. "Yeah, and you..?"
"My name is Lydia, and my friends and I wanted to-"
She was cut off by Calvin, who was excitedly waving his MRE package – or what was left of it. "Hey kid, who made these things? They're so good!"
Frisk stared at them for a second then smiled at them, "Oh, my mom made these, she's a great cook!" While saying this, they pointed to the kitchen side of the tent. "If you're looking for her, she's there finishing the last packages to the monsters."
Lydia made sure Calvin apologized to her for cutting her off and thanked Frisk for the info – She also thanked them – and ran to the kitchen, where they saw Toriel using magic to make the MREs.
It took a while for her to notice them, but once she noticed them, she waved her big white paw and smiled sweetly at them. "Oh, hello my children. Do you need something?"
"Goddess…" Lydia said while looking at Toriel with bright eyes.
"Definitely a goddess…" Calvin said, looking totally affected by Toriel's aura.
"Huh?" Toriel looked at them, confused.
"Give us more of one of your blessed meals, goddess." Konrad said while bowing to her.
"What is happening?" Toriel asked as the three of them bowed down to her.
After they got a few more rounds of the amazing food they've ever tasted in their lives, Lydia, Calvin and Konrad talked for a while until Lydia decided to finally face her mother's wrath once she video calls her, since they were waiting for the tent's search to start – and also to finish.
She finally pressed the video call icon and waited for a couple of seconds. The twins were behind her, wanting to watch the show unfold and to see her misery, "What good friends I have right there, enjoying my misery." she thought.
It rang a couple of times until a female angry voice blasted through the phone. " LYDIA LERONHEIT, HOW DARE YOU TO NOT CALL US TO AT LEAST SAY GOOD MORNING TO LET US KNOW YOU'RE OK? YOUR FATHER AND I HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU, WE THOUGHT YOU WERE CAUGHT IN AN ACCIDENT OR SOMETHING EVEN WORSE, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE GOT THE NEWS THAT THE MONSTERS ESCAPED UNDERGROUND. WHAT IF YOU MET ONE OF THEM AND THEY HURT YOU OR KILLED YOU?"
Lydia stayed there, frozen, looking at nothing while holding her phone in her hand for dear life, while the twins were laughing behind her. She slowly moved her head to her phone. "I…missed you too??"
Konrad, who finally calmed down from his laughter crisis, appeared from behind Lydia's shoulder and waved at her mom, "Hey auntie, how are you doing?"
"Oh, hello Konrad, dear, I'm fine, thanks for asking." Lydia's mom's voice suddenly became softer when she saw Konrad. Lydia swears that her mom likes more the twins than her own daughter. "I hope that this daughter of mine is not causing you any trouble. Anyways, how are you and your brother, Calvin? Is he with you?"
"We're both fine, auntie, and yes, he's with me, wait a second." Konrad looked at his brother who was still laughing and dragged him by his sleeve. "Hey, Calvin! Stop laughing for a second and say hi to auntie!"
Calvin looked over Lydia's shoulder and saw Lydia's mother in the video call, he stopped laughing a bit and waved at her. "H-Hey auntie..haha, ho are yo-uuu hahaha!"
Lydia wondered how it came like this, with her mother knowing the twins, Victoria, Rupert, Charles, and Norm – she also knows Drake, Josh, and Quentin's names but she never saw them – but she obviously knows the answer.
One night, at one of the sleepover parties she threw in her apartment, her mother video-called her and she asked who were these people she was with, Lydia ended up introducing one by one to her mother and from that day on, everyone except Rupert – but she knew he also called her auntie in secret, he just didn't want to admit – started calling her mother auntie.
She was so deep in her thoughts that when she tuned back in, it was the exact time when her mother was asking something to Lydia, "Sweetheart, where's Charles? Normally he's with you and the twins."
The air suddenly became thick between Lydia and the twins. God, she really didn't want to bring this subject up to her mother, she loved Charles almost the same as her, so it was quite unfair to her. Besides, bringing Charles up, being in thought or talking, apparently gives her panic attacks, so she wanted to avoid this, but it seems there is no way out.
Lydia looked at the twins and Calvin whispered to her, "Should we tell her?"
Konrad whispered, "We should definitely tell her, it's only the right thing to do, after all, Charles was so important to her as he was to us."
Lydia whispered, "Yeah, but I don't want to see her sad, besides, I don't know if we're allowed to tell it yet."
"Guys? What happened to Charles? And why are you whispering?" Lydia's mother called them out with a bit of worry in her voice. It was now or never.
Lydia took a deep breath, tugged in her scarf with her other hand, and kept her gaze in her mother's eye, "Mom, I don't know if you know this, and I don't even know if we're allowed to say this yet, but you know that the Toppat Station has been destroyed, right?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"So…" Lydia bit her lip. God, it was so hard to tell this without crying, she wondered how Henry had the strength to keep his tears from falling when he was telling her what happened. "…Charles and another guy were the ones who destroyed the station, but Charles…he…he…"
Fuck it, she couldn't keep the tears from falling anymore, and she just let them flow, "Charles died, mom! He's dead! He's a valiant hero for sacrificing himself for the guy that went with him, and he left us with so much time unspent and grief and I- I- please, let me go home, mom, please…!"
"Oh, dear…"
Lydia almost let her phone fall, if it wasn't for Calvin to safely take it before it fell. She went to Konrad and hugged him tightly, and a few moments after, she felt him hugging her back. "Calm down, Lily. Deep breath in, deep breath out."
Lydia didn't hear exactly what Calvin was saying to her mother, because her mind was getting foggy, but she thinks she heard him say something like this: "Hey auntie, I know you might have some questions, but please, let Lydia be for now, it has been a hard week for us since his death."
She didn't know how much time has passed since Calvin ended the video call for her and they spent the majority of the time calming her down, but it was almost noon when she finally calmed down. The twins asked Lydia if she wanted to rest in her tent but she just gave them a fake smile and told them that there was still a lot for them to do before she rested.
Reluctantly, the twins followed Lydia to Mettaton's tent – who asked a million of questions about if she was okay and why her face was like that – and they watched a preview of what their first show will be once they get out of the camp. One thing Lydia noticed that she didn't see the first time she met them was the presence of an orange cat-like monster, who was hiding behind one of the beds. When she asked Mettaton about it, he answered that it was one of his old employees who begged him to participate in his band as a background character.
It was a bit past noon when Lydia, Calvin, and Konrad went to the cafeteria tent again and had some more rounds of the MRE's – Toriel sadly saying with a kind smile that she couldn't keep making exceptions for them – and right after that, Norm called them to go to General's tent because the search was finalized and he wanted to talk with everyone who had their tents searched.
While they were on their way to General's tent, Lydia noticed that Bob and Bill weren't on their way, she asked Norm and he said, "Bob and Bill are guarding the front gate, for, y'know, in case some reporter or intruder might want to do something funny."
It seems reasonable, it was already a headache to know that someone leaked pictures and videos on the internet of the monster's return, they didn't want another headache to deal with reporters and intruders.
Once they arrived at General's tent, Lydia saw that Rupert, Victoria, Quentin, Madd and some other soldiers were already in the tent, and when they arrived, they met with General's furious glare. Lydia and the twins went rigid and stoic once General's glare met them. "God have mercy on us. Whoever did this made a pretty good job to unleash General's fury." Lydia thought.
"You all know why you are here, right?" General's voice boomed so loudly that Lydia thinks the whole camp might've heard. "Yesterday, one of you took delicate information about the monster's return and posted it on the internet, causing the public to think about the worst that can happen."
Lydia noticed someone entering the tent but she was so afraid of General's gaze that she didn't dare to look to see who it was. "And because of that, your tents have all been searched, and fortunately for you all, we haven't found anything incriminating yet. But the SECOND I figure out which of you leaked that information to the internet, you will be tried with TREASON, among other, lesser charges. Not only have you endangered the monsters, innocent creatures who haven't yet done anything to deserve being treated like criminals, but you have also endangered your fellow soldiers! Even now, our higher-ups are struggling to form a coherent response to the intel leak that will satisfy both the common people and the foreign powers that have been putting pressure on us to reveal the monsters' location! For now, you are all free to go, but you are confined to the campsite. And if ANY of you cause ANY sort of problems before the situation is resolved, you will be tried as co-conspirators. Understood?!"
"Sir, yes, sir!"
"DISMISSED!"
The line of soldiers filed out all neat and orderly. When Lydia was leaving the tent, relieved that she was dismissed from staying there another second with General's fury, she noticed that the person who was entering the tent earlier was Henry, who was now with a backpack on his back, and she waved at him with a tired smile.
When Lydia and the twins were finally far away from General's tent, entering Lydia's tent, the three of them collapsed in different locations, Lydia collapsed in her bed, Calvin on the ground, and Konrad beside the nightstand, almost making it fall.
"Oh man, I thought I was gonna die the moment he glared at us." Lydia said, while taking deep breaths, she didn't notice she was holding her breath this whole time, and it seems the twins too.
"Yeah, don't even start." Konrad said, carefully standing again while taking care to not knock down the nightstand. "I was praying to God to let us see the light of day again."
"Hey…is Calvin alive? He hasn't moved at all since we collapsed here." Lydia asked.
They both looked down at Konrad, who really didn't move at all since they collapsed, so Konrad walked up next to his twin and kicked him.
"Don't die yet, idiot. We don't want another death in our bag!"
"Leave me alone!" Calvin whined, "I'm scared, let me hug Earth a bit, will you? I thought I was gonna die and I was already saying goodbye to everyone I know! If this happens again, I'm gonna ask to move us to another department, another!"
"Ah yeah, speaking about moving…" Lydia sat up and reached for her drawer, taking out a bunch of papers and organizing them, "I'm going to go back to his tent to give this to General. Y'know? The documents for me to become a pilot."
"You're going to go back after THAT? Are you crazy?" Konrad looked at her, shocked.
"Eh, me and Charles are indeed a bit crazy, otherwise he wouldn't have had the greatest plan to crash his helicopter and I wouldn't be inspired by him and creating my own greatest plan." Lydia said that while getting up from her bed and going to her tent's entrance, but, a hand grabbed her ankle and she turned to see Calvin holding her.
"Noo, don't go! You'll die if you go back and we'll miss you!"
"Don't worry Calvin, I'll come back alive to you both." She said while crouching to pat Calvin's head. "And if I don't make it alive, I want to Call Me Maybe to be playing in my funeral, otherwise I won't go, Hahaha!"
She got up and was about to leave when she turned back to say something else. "Ah, one more thing, don't mess my tent while I'm gone, okay? See you later!"
Lydia exited her tent and began to walk towards General's tent. While she was at it, she observed every monster that walked past her and she began to think how their lives were back in the underground. Thinking about it made her heart fill with KINDNESS and it made her feel calmer about going back to General's tent after the whole ordeal.
When Lydia was nearing General's tent, she thought that she was seeing a green light emanating from the tent, but she quickly dismissed that thought, since she had a more important issue than that.
She entered the tent while looking at her stack of papers and said, "Hey General, I know it's a bit too soon after that happened, but I want you to appro-" She looked up from her stack of papers and her eyes widened while letting the stack of papers fall to the ground.
Tumblr media
There was a green heart on the table in front of General and beside Henry. While a million questions about what is this thing that was on General's table were running around her head, memories in her head with Charles played like a once happy movie.
She doesn't know how much time she kept staring at the green soul, but it probably was enough time to General call her. "Lily? What were you going to say?"
She slowly walked up to the table, ignoring the papers she was supposed to give to General, and stared at the green thing with her mouth gaped. She swallowed thickly and asked, "I- Wha- What is…this..?"
"It's a soul. A human soul." Henry answered. What? Human soul? So this is what they look like? She only heard about them in stories that her mother told her when she put her to sleep when she was a kid. So this is what was inside Henry's backpack? But who did this soul belonged to? There must have had a reason why Henry brought it to General in the first place. She could only think of one person who could radiate this energy and that has died recently, but she didn't want to believe it was real.
She looked up to Henry and asked, "Is…is this..?"
"Yeah, it's Charles." Henry answered, with a smile on his face that he didn't have before when she first met him. Lydia looked back at the green soul – Charles – and she reached out her palms, and then let Charles rest in Lydia's open palms. Calm silence swept over the room, and Lydia felt like wanting to cry for a second time today.
She stuttered, "B-but how..? Where did you...?"
"I found him at the crash site, I went there before someone named 'Meg' and her team went there to clean up the station debris." Henry said with a tired face, Lydia thought that he needed at least 3 beauty sleeps to get rid of the tired face - or some rounds of coffee. "And even if I tell you how, I don't know if you'd believe me."
"I see..."
After two minutes or so, she looked at Henry again and she felt that she was really crying – she didn't notice it before. She asked, "Can he hear us? If so, can I try?"
"In theory, yes. He should be able to hear us just fine." Henry answered, "In practice, it's a bit more complicated."
"Aw, dang it…" Lydia muttered under her breath.
"After you die, your soul enters what my sources call a 'sleeping state'. In this state, Charles' soul isn't creating DETERMINATION, and that'll eventually cause his soul to deteriorate and fade." Lydia stiffened at that. She couldn't think of losing Charles again right after she met him again. "If we can wake him up, we can stop that, but waking a sleeping soul isn't easy."
"What do you need?" Lydia asked, immediately standing straight, while feeling DETERMINATION she didn't know she was capable of having before.
"The monsters." Henry answered, "Their knowledge of souls and magic vastly outweighs any source left here on the surface. If anyone in the world can help Charles, it's them. General sent Rupert to bring the king in here, so he should be back here soon."
"You can try talking to him, Lily. Neither I nor Henry had results, but I think it doesn't hurt to try a third time again." General Galeforce said, looking at Lydia with kind eyes.
Lydia stayed there, looking at Charles for a moment, and then she said, "Hey…Charlie…you scared us quite a bit, huh? If you do it again, I won't invite you to my sleepover parties anymore!" Lydia sadly laughed and continued to look at Charles. The green light washing over Lydia, like a warm blanket on a rainy night, radiating the KINDNESS she missed so much. Yep. It really is Charles. No one else could radiate that much KINDNESS as Charles could, even Lydia herself lost to Charles at that.
She softly smiled and said, "Don't worry, Charlie, we'll take care of you until you're feeling better, and then we'll be back on kicking criminals' asses before you know it, I promise!"
Charles did not respond.
"I love you Charlie, I hope you know it. See you soon, br- partner."
Lydia carefully put Charles on the desk again, and they stayed quiet for a bit. Then, she remembered what she was here for in the beginning and turned back to the tent's entrance and began to collect the papers she let fall. While she was at it, she heard Henry and the General talking behind her.
"So… the monsters have a monarchy?" Asked Henry.
"Yes, though Asgore is hardly the kingly type." Lydia felt his gaze outside the tent, where the monsters were hustling and bustling about, trying to develop some semblance of normalcy in this crazy life they'd been thrust into. "I've seen him around camp a few times since our first meeting. He's less like what you would expect the king of monsters to be and more like… that old man from up the street who's become everyone's unofficial grandpa."
"Ah," Henry said, "And the ambassador?" Oh, poor Henry, he was in for a reality shock when he sees that a kid is the ambassador, though she doesn't say this to Henry, she wants to see his reaction without being warned of it before.
"Frisk is… also not what you would expect of a monster ambassador. Just keep in mind that you need to treat them with the same respect that you do the king, even if they're a bit of an… unconventional choice."
Lydia finally finished collecting her stack of papers, she stood up and walked towards the General's table. "General, this is why I came here in the first place, though with Charles' return, I'm having second thoughts about it."
She handed the papers to General and stayed quiet as he carefully went through them. After a while, he looked at her with widened eyes, "You want to change your position to pilot?"
"Yeah, I was planning to since I thought there was no way Charles would come back, and I thought it was only fair if I honored his memory by becoming a pilot, but since he's back, I'm unsure of what to do now." Lydia rubbed the back of her neck while tugging on her scarf with her other hand. There isn't a one hundred percent sure they'll be able to bring Charles back, – at least his soul is here – so she thought it's best if General kept the papers in case she changes her mind about it.
General Galeforce stared at her for a moment, then he sighed and put the papers inside his drawer, "Fine, Leronheit, I'll keep the papers here until you make a proper decision if you really want it or not. And I want you to think about it throughly instead of just going with your emotions, understood?"
“Understood, General.” Lydia said, “Ah, and about the person who leaked that info, I know I shouldn’t point fingers to others, but I have a strong guess that-”
Before Lydia could finish her sentence, the entrance flap of Galeforce's tent flew open, and a hulking mass of fur bent forward awkwardly to enter. It was King Asgore, still wearing the casual clothing she saw him wearing at breakfast, but had grabbed a crown and a regal purple cloak on the way over, which made for an… awkward and interesting combination of garments.
Trailing behind him was Frisk, looking smaller than they are besides Asgore.
"Ah, King Asgore," General Galeforce greeted the duo with a bow. "Ambassador Frisk. Thank you for heeding my summons so quickly."
Lydia looked over to Henry and almost burst out laughing when she saw his shocked face, exactly as she thought when she imagined him hearing the ambassador being a literal child.
"The pleasure is ours, General," Asgore responded. His voice was deep and booming, but also polite and regal. For all his failure to look the part, Asgore certainly sounded like a king.
Frisk, the little ambassador, didn't respond. They moved to stand next to Asgore and stared first at the General, then at Lydia, and then at Henry. Lydia looked over to Henry and she saw him staring at Frisk with curious eyes. She could've probably thought that he was still thinking about how a child could be an ambassador, but instead, she thought if he felt the same thing she felt about Frisk, a feeling that she couldn't comprehend.
A feeling that there was something odd with this kid, something that wasn't natural.
Maybe only time could tell them what it is.

Notes:
Hello guys! It has been a while, I have been studying for endless tests that are coming up, so that's why I have been posting nothing - also, my laziness doesn't help when I'm drawing.
I only noticed now that I forgot the eye bags on the first illustration, but oh well, it's too late for that now.
Anyways, since we've reached chapter 3, I'll open my ask box while I'm writing chapter 4. You can ask me anything! Even about the characters! And sorry if the story is a little bit cringe, this is the first fanfic that I actually continue, and not abandon like I did with the last one.
Oh, Happy Children's Day by the way! I hope everyone has a great day, and remember to drink water!
See you on the flipside!

Valiant Souls: A New Perspective - A Surprising Encounter
Tumblr media
"Whaat? You've decided to become a pilot, Lily?" A man with ginger hair exclaimed while holding his sandwich and looking at Lydia. A man identical to him was sitting beside him and choked on his food when he heard that.
"Yeah Konrad, I've prepared the papers just before dawn and I'm gonna give it to General later." Lydia said while peacefully eating her fig, cardamom and orange hot cross buns as if suddenly wanting to become a pilot from one day to another was a normal thing to do.
"But Lydia, please, reconsider! You're one of our best soldiers, and you're only 19! It would be a huge loss to us, especially after what happened with Charlie…" Konrad's twin brother, Calvin, spoke after successfully managing to unchoke and put his hand on the table while getting up a bit.
"Psst, Calvin, don't be rude to her feelings talking about Charlie like that."Konrad put a hand in front of Calving while using one of the fingers of his other hand to ask for him to be silent. "I don't know about you, but when I got up in the middle of the night to get some water, I heard her screaming from what probably was a nightmare."
"Ah, I'm sorry Lydia." Calvin sat down and looked at Lydia, looking remorseful, "But, can you tell us why you decided to do that?"
"No need to say sorry, Calvin. Now, as for your question…" Lydia finished her meal and intertwined her finger while looking at them thoughtfully, "I've decided to do that because I want to honor Charles' memory. I know I can't substitute him nor be him and I would never dream of it, but... I want to continue his legacy, y'know?"
"I think I understand it, if that's what you want, we can't stop you, after all, you and Charles kinda shared some stubbornness traits" Konrad laughed sadly while finishing his sandwich, "When are you gonna submit the papers to General?"
"I'm gonna give it to him when I get to see him today."
"Oh, then you're gonna have to wait for a while, Lily." Calvin smiled while looking at her, "Rumors are that General is going to lead a team up Mount Ebbot to look for Henry because he still hasn't shown up."
"What?! Henry hasn't shown up yet?!" Lydia got up and put her hands on the table. "I mean, I saw him leaving yesterday, but I didn't think he would leave the campgrounds! I thought he just wanted some time alone. Oh god, I should've stopped him if I had noticed that." Lydia sat again and hid her face between her arms.
"Hey Lily, no need to put yourself down like that." Konrad pats her head, looking worryingly at her, "In any case, he'll probably appear by sundown or tomorrow morning, don't worry too much."
"But, you know, I kinda get why General is worried about Henry." Calvin says while looking at the morning sky.
"Oh? Want to share your thought with us, Calvin?" Konrad says, looking at his brother.
"Well, Charles recently died, correct? And before he died, Henry was presumed dead, and given that Charles and Henry have a strong friendship and how badly he looked before leaving, it makes sense for the General to think that Henry killed himself."
"Ah, I get your point, I hope that General's idea is wrong though, Henry helped us in the past and I don't wanna another person dying so soon like that."
Lydia took a deep breath before raising her head and smiling at them, "Hey, you guys said that General is going to lead a team up Mount Ebbot, correct? Can I come too? I think it would be nice and it would get my head off the things that have been happening recently."
The twins looked at each other before looking at Lydia again, "Well, if you want, you can prepare yourself and we'll call you when we're leaving." Konrad said while rubbing the back of his neck. "Just don't overwork yourself when you're mentally exhausted, ok?"
"Great! Now, let's change the subject, shall we? Anyways, my parents were planning to adopt a dog ever since I left home, and they finally did it last week! They've named him Alex and he's so cute…"
____________________________________________________________
It was afternoon when the Bukowski twins called Lydia to go with the team led by General Galeforce to look for Henry, along with Rupert and Victoria. Normally she would tease Rupert like she always did, but she wasn't feeling like it today so he let him go, at least today.
General was surprised to see Lydia with the twins after yesterday's events and thought she wouldn't be feeling good to go with them, but he was totally wrong.
While they were walking on the trail, Lydia and Konrad began sharing stories about the mountain.
"Do you think the legend 'Those Who Climb The Mountain Will Not Come Back' is true? When I was a kid, I thought it was pretty stupid." Lydia asked Konrad, looking more energetic and lively than she was looking in the morning.
"I mean, it could both be true and false, no one really knows what happened with the people who come up Mount Ebbot, so there's a probability they're living in the woods that surround the mountain and feeding off the animals that live around the mountain." Konrad said while looking thoughtful at the sky.
"Ah, you've got a point there. Anyways, what legend did you most hear about the mountain?"
"I think it was the one where the mountain was haunted by a bunch of ghost soldiers who had died in here from some war long, long time ago and that they mistook people who had climbed up the mountain for enemy soldiers, what about you?"Konrad turned to Lydia and flashed her a smile.
"Uhh, I don't remember exactly, but I think my mom used to tell me that a creature from another world protected the mountain, and those who climbed the mountain were devoured by it, pretty crazy, huh?"
"It's good to see you lively like that again, Lily." Calvin looked behind his shoulder to look at Lydia, "I was getting pretty upset to see you sad like that at breakfast."
"Of course! I can't be sad like that all the time, we need some happiness in this heavy atmosphere."Lydia said while giving him a thumbs up and a smile.
"See, Rupert? Learn a bit from Lydia, her positivity might make you look a bit more friendly." Calvin said, looking at Rupert.
"Huh?" Rupert said while scowling at Calvin, but the ginger didn't mind the man's scowl and just continued.
"Ever since General called you to the search team to look for Henry, you've been with this scowling face, got something against coming up here?"
"No, I am scowling because we're looking for 'im, he's the reason why Dave was fired. That's why I'm scowling." Although most of the ones who were present there seemed convinced by Rupert's excuse, Lydia thought that was only half of the reason Rupert was scowling.
You know what? The day without teasing Rupert can be remarked for another day, there must be a reason why Rupert didn't want to come, and she was going to discover it.
"What, Price? Are you scared of the legends that surround this mountain? Don't worry, I won't push you down the hole when we get up there."Lydia said while teasingly looking at him, enjoying his future reaction.
Rupert sighed and looked behind him to look at Lydia, "Took you long enough, I thought you were sick or something because you didn't tease me yet."
"Awn, so you do love it when I do it!"
"No, I actually hate it, it's just that I got so used to your teasing that I found it odd that you didn't do it yet."
"Can you guys take things more seriously? We're looking for Henry and all you guys have done was chit-chat." Victoria finally snapped and looked behind her, scolding the soldiers behind her.
"Aw Vic, you're no fun." Calvin said while pouting.
"I hate to ruin your fun, but she's right, guys, we have to pay more attention to our surroundings and look for traces that Henry was here." General looked behind him and looked at everyone with tired eyes, he seemed to be more tired than yesterday, poor guy.
"General, I don't mean to be rude, but all I've seen since we got here were kid's footprints, no footprints of an adult that came here before us, so it's either he found another way to enter the mountain or he didn't come here at all." Lydia said while shrugging at him.
"Kid's footprints? Are you sure about that?" Konrad looked at Lydia, questioning her judgment.
"I'm pretty sure about that, and the footprints seem pretty recent, too. I don't know exactly how old they are but I'm betting that they're 2-3 days old, since 4 days ago it rained here."
"Hmm, interesting." General stroked his beard in thought, "but in any case, better safe than sorry, Lily."
"I know, I'm just saying tho."
After that, they kept silent for a while, mostly because the first half was admiring the environment and the sounds of the mountain, and the second half was looking for any evidence that Henry might've left.
After one hour or so, their split attention to other things and the silence between them broke when a child ran headfirst into the General's leg and fell to the ground. They wore plain jean pants and a plain striped shirt. Their hair was messy but simple, and on their face was adorned a fresh bandage. In one hand they held a simple stick, likely picked up on the mountainside, and would use it as a baton, or an extension of their limbs, or a toy to play fetch with, if a dog was around.
General quickly kneeled beside the child, looking for any injuries, "Are you okay, kiddo? What are you doing so far from Ebott City?"
"Uhh..."The kid was a bit unsure what to answer General's question, and before they could even give him a proper answer, they heard someone calling the kid.
"My Child!" a goat-like monster crossed the underbrush and walked up to the kid, along with some other monsters "Frisk, my child, please do not run off like that! You-"
Rupert acted immediately to the monster's presence, pushing both the kid and General Galeforce behind him as he pointed his gun at the goat-monster. This got a reaction from a fish-woman, glowing blue spears twirling around her as she leaped in to protect – wait, protect? - the goat-monster. Tensions ran high among the team as the other four soldiers immediately readied their weapons.
What was going to happen? Were the monsters going to attack first? Maybe Rupert was going to attack first, given that he's ready for any brisk movement of the monsters. No, more importantly, how are the monsters here? Weren't they imprisoned a long, long time ago? What are they doing here? Was this child captured by them, and that's why they ran into General and were unsure on how to respond to his questions?
Suddenly, Lydia noticed that the kid freed themselves from General's hold and ran straight into the center of the battle, hands outstretched in a universal 'Stop!' motion. "Everyone! Please! We don't have to fight!"
"THE HUMAN IS RIGHT!" A tall skeleton with a red scarf, some kind of armor suit and gloves and boots, with also a friendly smile on his face also ran into the center of the fray. Bones had grown up from the ground between the kid and the soldiers… and the kid and the monsters. "WE SHOULDN'T BE FIGHTING EACH OTHER AT ALL! UNDYNE, HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?"
The fish-woman, whose name is Undyne, scowled, but the spears behind her disappeared. She stood up straight, still on guard, but no longer openly hostile. General walked up to the team's side and made a gesture to make them lower their guns, and everyone did lower their guns...everyone except Rupert.
"Woah, Rupert not obeying General's orders? He wants to get in trouble, there's no other answer!" Calvin whispered to Konrad and Lydia, who were both looking shocked at Rupert.
"Sir, you're not seriously about to trust these monsters, are you? Rupert pointed his gun over the kid's head, directly at the biggest threat: the goat-man monster, who seemed to be the monster's leader. "I grew up in this area: I know the legends. Nobody who climbs Mount Ebott ever returns for a reason. These… things must have eaten them or something!"
"Eaten?" The goat-lady monster looked vaguely disturbed by the suggestion, covering her mouth with one hand. Now, Rupert was being just mean. The monsters must've had a way to leave the underground, but saying they must've eaten the people who climbed the mountain is going too far.
General Galeforce looked sternly at Rupert, "Mister Price," He called, his tone loud and serious, "Are you disobeying a direct order from your superior?"
Rupert looked at the General once, then back at his rifle, then finally lowered his weapon. He was most certainly not pleased about it, but the danger had passed for the moment.
"I apologize for my subordinate," General Galeforce spoke clearly, professional as usual. He walked to where the kid and the tall skeleton were hunkered down between the two parties and knelled next to the kid, fully aware of both humans and monsters watching him with cautious eyes. He extended a friendly hand out, "My name is Hubert Galeforce. I'm a General in the military. What's your name, kiddo?"
The kid looked the man dead in the eye, took his hand, and said in a calm voice, "Frisk."
"And these monsters haven't hurt you at all?" He asked, not impolitely.
"No way! They're my friends!" Frisk slipped away from his grasp to go run at the goat-lady monster full force, leaping into her arms and laughing as she caught them and spun them around. When the goat-lady released Frisk, the child continued to hold onto her hand as they spoke, gaining confidence from the unbridled affection that the goat-lady radiated in their presence, "When I fell into the Underground, I got pretty scared. But my friends helped me find my way out! Miss Toriel baked me a pie, and Papyrus played fun games with me, and Undyne tried to teach me how to cook, and Alphys took me to the garbage dump!" That last one earned the yellow-dinosaur monster, whose name is Alphys, a funny look from the goat-lady, who seems to be Toriel, and Alphys merely blushed and averted her eyes.
"I see.." General stroked his beard in thought, "This sounds like quite the story. Why don't you all come with me back to our camp? We can provide you with food and lodging for the night."
"That would be most generous of you," The goat-man from earlier spoke out at last, his deep voice surprisingly soft against the dusk winds, "I am Asgore, King of the monsters, and this is my… ex-wife, Toriel, and Frisk, our ambassador between monster and humankind."
General took a shivering breath when Asgore approached; anybody would be intimidated, with a ten-foot-tall goat man standing over him – even Lydia herself was intimidated. But he extended his hand, keeping his voice neutral and his tone polite, "A pleasure to meet you," Once he had released Asgore's claw, he turned to Frisk, "Ambassador?"
"T-that's right," Frisk seemed to squeeze Toriel's paw and stepped forward, It's my job to make sure the monsters are treated right. I'm going to protect them!"
Ooh, such a DETERMINED kid. Lydia hopes that the kid's wish comes true. Looking at everything more calmly rather than in the tension that the situation was before, the monsters seemed to be friendly in general, and given how the monsters are acting towards the kid, she doesn't think there's a reason to suspect the monsters.
Although she didn't look uneasy anymore, her colleagues seemed to be still uneasy, but with exception of Rupert, none of them were openly hostile. General Galeforce looked openly impressed by Frisk's gall.
"Well, you've certainly got your priorities straight," The General waved for the monsters to follow him, "Our camp is about an hour's walk this way. We'll make sure you're all comfortable before we… discuss the situation."
____________________________________________________________
Initially, the walk back to camp was tense. The monsters, Undyne in particular, were on the defensive, prepared to attack the second they needed to. The soldiers were no less anxious, not a single one of them holstering their weapons. Even though Lydia calmed down, she still didn't holster her weapon because she was afraid one of the monsters would attack one of her colleagues or the General. Rupert in particular kept glaring back at the monsters with pure contempt. Frisk made sure to stay in sight of all of the soldiers, probably to not cause an attack like the one earlier.
Attitudes changed when the sun finally set along the horizon. The stars started appearing, one by one, and Lydia could hear gasps of amazement as monsters saw the stars for the first time in their lives. "This is the first time they see the stars? Oh my, just how long they were kept down there?" Lydia asked Konrad, but the ginger man heard Alphys pointing out constellations to the tall skeleton, Papyrus, and he got excited and started sharing stories behind said constellations, ignoring completely her. "Oh why you-"
"…and that one is called Centaurus. See there, that's the human-shaped head," Alphys traced her finger in the sky. With a touch of her electricity magic, a picture began forming in the air, a glowing yellow form that connected the dots in the sky to complete the picture, "and that's the horse-like body."
How can she do that? Man, she has to ask one of the monsters someday to teach magic to her, so she can mess with Rupert while he's not looking.
Konrad, who had begun walking with them to better tell the stories, jumped in, "There are a lot of centaurs in history, so nobody's 100 percent certain which centaur it's supposed to honor, but most historians are pretty sure it's Chiron, the ancient teacher of heroes. According to legend, he lived at the base of a mountain and learned the arts of healing, archery, and song from the gods, which he passed on to the young humans who came to him for tutelage."
"So humans don't think all monsters are evil?" Undyne asked, "'Cause that's kind of what we were always taught."
"I, um, I think a lot of it was lost to history," Konrad rubbed the back of his neck. Lydia noticed that he was slowly growing more comfortable around the monsters, but Undyne was intimidating-looking, and it seemed that she was like that even among her peers. "We certainly have plenty of legends about evil monsters."
"But monsters aren't evil!" Frisk objected insistently, "They're nicer than any humans I've ever met!"
"..Must not know a lot of humans…" Rupert muttered under his breath
Frisk cast a glare ahead of them at the man, who quickly turned to look ahead when he realized the child was staring at him. Seriously, when will he let go of that? Lydia went behind him and gave him a chop-hit behind his neck.
"Oi! What was that for?" Rupert looked behind and glared at Lydia, who didn't seem to be uncomfortable with his glare.
"I'm chopping some sense into you. Y'know? I'm starting to agree with Calvin, you should learn a bit from me and spread around friendly vibes instead of unfriendly ones." Lydia said while also glaring at him.
"There were atrocities on both sides of the battle, little one," Asgore told them gravely. When they'd first met Asgore, the old goat looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and sometimes the lasting damage of that weight still showed on his face, "There's no such thing as a good war."
"Though you can be the better person, with a little effort." Toriel responded coldly. Oh, what happened between them? Asgore did say that Toriel was his ex-wife, but for what reason did they divorce? Did the love end? Maybe one of them cheated? Or maybe something else happened. In any case, Toriel sighed and pet Frisk's head when the child looked up at her in disappointment, but she didn't apologize. Comforting Asgore fell to Undyne and Alphys, who each took a place at his side and gently consoled him.
They went on like this for some time before the General stopped them, "We're here."
The encampment wasn't anything special. Green tents were sprouted up in neat rows, meant to be collapsed in an instant. The other soldiers that hung around were waiting for orders, but as the monsters filed through each one stiffened and stood at attention, obviously unsettled. Lydia looked at each one of them, giving them a reassuring look, and said: "Don't worry, they're not harmful, they're with us."
They reached an area near the end of the camp where there was clear space. Galeforce nodded back at the King, "I'll have my men begin setting up tents for your people to stay in for the night. If any of your people would be willing to help, that would-"
Before he could finish Undyne whistled loudly, and a group consisting primarily of bipedal canines came bounding up to her. Their apparent Captain called out loudly, "ALRIGHT YOU DOGS! SHOW THESE HUMANS HOW THE ROYAL GUARD SETS UP CAMP!"
The dogs howled simultaneously before bounding forward, grabbing tents as they ran to set them up. Some soldiers, including Konrad, Calvin and Lydia, exchanged glances before joining them reluctantly. She went to help a group of three monsters, consisting of a ghost, a robot and a fish – mermaid, perhaps? - to set their tent.
"Thank you for helping us, darling." The robot said while laying down the tarp.
"No need to thank me, uh, sir, I'm just doing my job."Lydia said while stretching the tarp with the help of the robot. "Anyways, what are your names?"
"My name is Mettaton, this is blo- uh, Napstablook, and this is Shyren." Mettaton said while pointing to the ghost and the fish monster.
"What nice names! So, since you're all out of the...underground, I think, what are your plans to do here on the surface?" Lydia said while pulling the tent tight and staking the two opposite corners with Napstablook's help.
"Oh, glad you asked! We three are planning to make a band and make shows around the world!" Mettaton said, making a dramatic pose. "You know, I was a star on the Underground, and I want to share my talent with the humans."
"Haha, seems nice! What each one of you is going to do then?" Lydia said while unfolding the pole segments.
"oh…" Napstablook said, quietly, it seems he isn't that used to talking with people, poor ghost, he deserves a hug and she was going to give it to him later, whether he likes it or not. "i...i can make some cds... so, mettaton hired me as his celebrity sound-mixer…"
"I, of course, will be the star of the show! Dancing and interacting with the public!" Mettaton said, making another dramatic pose.
Shyren said something in a singing-like voice, which Lydia didn't understand what she said. Napstablook must have noticed her confused face because he hurried to translate it for her, " oh… shyren said that she'll be singing… i'm sorry for not telling you earlier that the way she talks is different from other monsters...oh no, it's all my fault...oh no…"
"Hey buddy, it's okay! No need to say sorry, you don't have control over that." Lydia said, giving him a pat on his back, "Anyways, I hope your band gets popularity with the other humans, you guys seem nice!"
"The same can be said about you, darling." Mettaton said while inserting the main poles into the sleeves on the outside of the tent. "Down there we were taught that all humans were bad and that because of that we needed their souls to break the barrier to avenge our kind, but you seem the complete opposite of what we were told."
"Uh, there ARE some humans who are bad like that, that's why the police and the military exist, to arrest the bad guys and keep the people safe!" Lydia said while slowly raising the tent with Shyren's help. "Thanks, Shyren."
Tumblr media
After a while, they finally finished setting up the tent. They got one of the large tents, enough for 3 people – or monsters in this case.
"Dang, look at these monsters! I wished Charles was here, he wouldn't stop talking abo-"
"Lydia! Did you see the new movie? I'm so excited to watch it, the trailer seemed awesome, and the synopsis is pretty interesting too! If you want, you can come too-"
What.
"-I'm so excited to see the acting! There's a helicopter crash in the movie, Lily, like the one I make sometimes! Can you believe it? I'm pretty sure they were inspired by me-"
No, calm down Lydia, it's just a sudden memory because this made you remember him, don't panic, don't panic, don't panic, don't pan-
"Darling? Are you okay?"
Lydia snapped out of her trance when Mettaton gently tapped her shoulder, Napstablook and Shyren looked worryingly at her. Was she out for that much time? It seemed like it was just a few seconds.
When Lydia looked at her hands, she noticed that they were shaking, and now she only started to notice that her breath was increasing rapidly. She took deep breaths and gave them a fake smile. "Don't worry guys, I'm okay, I was just thinking of something." Lydia gently pushed away Mettaton's hand and gave them a reassuring look.
Shyren sang something in her language, and Napstablook translated it to help Lydia to understand her, "shyren asked if you're sure about that...and if you want to talk about it…"
"No Napstablook, Shyren, really, I'm fine." No, she wasn't and she didn't want to admit it. "I'm probably just tired from today's events, I'm going to sleep earlier. If you guys need anything, seek for General, okay?"
Before they could say anything to her to convince her to say what she was feeling, she walked away from their tent. God, what was up with her? She did miss Charles, but she didn't want to have another breakdown in front of someone.
"Move on, Lydia. He's gone, there's nothing you can do to bring him back." Lydia said to herself, suppressing the tears that were threatening to fall.
Before she left the monster's side of the camp, she heard a kid's voice far away and she turned to see who it was. Ah, it was Frisk, the ambassador of the monsters, right? What they're doing?
Lydia decided to stay for a bit longer to hear what they had to say, something about Frisk seemed peculiar to Lydia, and she didn't know why, and maybe observing them would answer that question. She got closer to the edge of the crowd to see and hear Frisk better.
"Okay, so we just spoke to the General!" Frisk announced. Out of her peripheral, she could see Undyne, Papyrus, and Alphys exiting General's tent, followed by Asgore and Toriel. Lydia noticed Frisk gulping but they continued, "For now, the plan is to stay here until we can meet with the people in charge of the country to discuss making monsters legal citizens! Until then… we can't leave."
Oh, so that's the plan? God, Lydia hated all that bureaucracy thing. When she turned 18, she had to get through all the documents that would make her recognized as an adult by the state. It gave her a big headache through the whole process, not only through that but also when she bought her apartment!
Apparently, the monsters seemed to agree with her, it seemed like all of monsterkind had temporarily combined to let out one single, unanimous roar of discontent. Lydia noticed some monsters were casting spells towards Frisk, she got a hold of her gun in her holster, ready to shoot at them, but Toriel came to stand behind them the instant she saw they were in trouble. Her eyes bore a hole into every monster she passed, and her malicious intent radiated so clearly that monsters nearby immediately stopped what they were doing to give her space.
Ah, right, Asgore did say that he was his ex-wife, making them their queen – or ex-queen, in this case. But what kind of queen she was to make all of the monsters silent when she looks at them? Scary, but oddly comforting.
By the time she'd come to stand behind Frisk, the danger had mostly passed, but her call of "SILENCE!" Still brought every single monster to a grinding halt.
Man, the ex-queen is so cool.
"I get you're all frustrated. I am too," Frisk confided. The monsters all stared at them in silence, with sad, hopeful eyes. Lydia noticed that Rupert, Konrad, Calvin, and several other soldiers also gathering at the edge's crowd, Frisk's speech was doing quite a lot. Incredible.
"But we've already come so far! After the war, you all banded together to survive in the Underground! You built a home, braved the horrible cold, the dark swampland, the scorching heat, and created a brand new kingdom from scratch! For generations, you've all held on, become stronger. You've created hope for yourselves, and when I fell down into the Underground, you all shared that hope with me! You took care of me, you guided me! And when the time came, it was because of you all that the Barrier was broken!
"You've made great progress in just two days! Don't feel discouraged. So what if the Humans don't accept you yet? You'll show them how wonderful and loving you all really are, and they'll fall head over heels for you, just like I did! So just hold on a little longer! We'll make our place in the world. Everyone! STAY DETERMINED!"
"STAY DETERMINED!" Called back the monsters. They cried out and cheered excitedly, and Toriel's arms encircled Frisk from behind to hoist the child up. Lydia got so excited with the crowd's cheering that she started clapping and cheering along with them. Frisk's speech made something spark within her, hope perhaps? She didn't know, but it made her feel more DETERMINED.
The crowd started scattering, and her soldier colleagues too. She decided to go back to her tent and sleep. She didn't feel hungry, so she would eat tomorrow.
When she got into her tent, she prepared everything to sleep and lay in her bed. She hopes that everything goes right for the monsters, it's only right after maybe centuries trapped underground. But she was also worried about how they would approach the public with the news that the monsters appeared after centuries of being trapped. She started to understand General's decision to keep them in the camp until they sorted everything out, and she prayed that the public wouldn't know anything about this until it was the right time.
Oh boy, little did she know how fate was laughing at her.
