I love Steven Universe and while I felt the ending was a bit underwhelming, I do love the emotional resolution we got. While there’s a handful of stuff I could say I wish happened before the show was over (having more Jasper included), my biggest gripe was just… How they wrote Spinel. We saw her emotional maturity by the end of her movie. Why did she act so dense and cartoony in these last episodes? I don’t believe she wouldn’t be perceptive to Steven’s anger when he blew up at Yellow and Blue, or when he stormed out of White’s room in a panic. I dont believe she would just start theatrically singing when he asked her how she got rid of her vengeful thoughts. And I definitely don’t believe she would bawl as goofily as she did when they saw Corrupted Steven. She feels more like Spinel from the garden than Spinel after growing from the movie. It left a sour taste in my mouth…
