Meanwhile the Crazy Christian fundie right-wing is suddenly pro-Islamist/terrorist just to own the jooz *shrug*
Honestly don't understand why progressives don't like Israel
So I've been reading up on this Israel business and I gotta tell you... I'm flat stumped!
See, it looks to me like these are the exact sorts of people the American left would love and American right would despise, but apparently somewhere along the line things got all topsy turvy and no one can tell which way is up.
Just to start, Israel is an ethnostate. You know how workplace and campus "affinity groups" separated by race and ethnicity are super progressive and valid? Well, brother, Israel has got these down to a science! Why are we punishing them for acknowledging the well-established fact that people from different races are fundamentally incompatible with another? That in order to feel safe, it's important that you only ever interact with people who look like you believe the exact same stuff you believe?
Second, Israel's whole self-image is that they present themselves as an embattled underdog who everyone hates even though they have the full and unequivocal support of nearly every large and evil entity in the world. Bonus: they also respond to any criticism of their failures and cruelties by accusing their critics of hate speech. If that's not a blueprint of 2020's DSA meeting, I don't know what is.
Now maybe there's some kind of incongruity here. Maybe ethnic/racial nationalism is always without exception violent and reactionary, and dressing it up in the gloss of progressive identitarianism does nothing to negate that fact?
But no... no that can't be the case. Our racial nationalism is great. It's the only valid path toward being anything other than a fascist. So that's why I'm stumped! Maybe progressives recognize the fact that Israel is, in function and design, the epitome of their worldview, and they're just jealous?

If that’s the case, can Tumblr, Discord, YouTube, Twitter, etc. get on the chopping block already? Here’s hoping.
I think the real problem here is that big media corporations seem to believe that social media userbases are fungible, and persist in acting on this belief no matter how many times it’s demonstrated to be wrong.
There’s a specific pattern of events that plays out over and over (and over) again, and it looks something like this:
1. Social media platform becomes popular
2. Social media platform is purchased by big media corporation in order to gain access to it large user base
3. Big media corporation realises that social media platform’s demographics are not the demographics they want to sell things to.
4. Big media corporation institutes measures to drive away “undesirable” users, apparently in the honest belief that the outgoing users will automatically be replaced by an equal number of new, more demographically desirable users
5. This does not, in fact, occur
6. Social media platform crashes and burns
You’d think that, by the sheer law of averages, at least one person who’s capable of learning from experience would become involved in this whole process at some point.

If conclusively proven, this would be the death-knell on an emerging religion theologized by woke academics and sponsored by food/pharmaceutical megacorporations and NIMBYs—Veganism—so of course the very idea that'd discredit the foundational pillar of Veganism, cruelty-freedom, gets extreme backlash... And yet, and yet... There is science that plants just might feel pain. Expect it to be buried. (Indeed, the first link when I looked up “plants feel pain” is PETA.)
It makes logical sense anyway. Why wouldn’t any fit organism feel pain? It’s an alarm system for all lifeforms to survive long enough to reproduce. How else would the plant know how to activate its self-defense mechanisms or alert fellow plants to do the same?
Me: we don’t know what plants experience or don’t and it seems arrogant to automatically assume they’re completely inanimate and unfeeling
People: lose their damn minds at me

Go woke, go broke.
Gillette’s Historic Failure
In 2019, Gillette was silly enough to make a “toxic masculinity” campaign targeting to men. The campaign was so problematic that the company took a 12 billion dollar write down (US 8 billion).  https://humanity87.home.blog/2020/01/09/gillettes-historic-failure/

“And I became fixated, too, upon Katharine Hepburn’s famous Fred and Ginger theory: He gives her class, she gives him sex. Was this a general rule? Did all friendships — all relations — involve this discreet and mysterious exchange of qualities, this exchange of power?”

For any of my bored feminists out there, I highly recommend taking the Feminist Perspectives Test (link here). Of course, it’s an oversimplification of the many complicated facets of feminism, but I think it highlights how no person fits into just one category. We all draw our opinions from many different places.
I challenge you to get 0% conservatism ;)

This has always been the intention
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn were both easily the least-racist people to ever come close to becoming president and PM. The competition isn’t even close.
Both men’s campaigns took place during a time of unprecedented awareness of racism, in which all aspects of politics and social life were scrutinized through the lens of race. And, by the end of their campaigns, each man had been successfully smeared as a racist, while the objectively worse records of their objectively more malignant and hateful opponents were glossed over.
This suggests a large degree of intention and coordination. Manifestly false narratives don’t become accepted fact on their own. People whose self-understanding is built entirely upon white guilt and/or a sense of personal victimhood don’t wind up supporting hateful racist cocksuckers by accident.
This has been the purpose of wokeness from the very start. For all the talk of revolution, the movement’s only accomplishments have been to further entrench power structures, suffocate the last vestiges of left materialism and class consciousness, and push their country’s nominally liberal parties rightward.
Woke people dominate media and academe and have infiltrated boardrooms and HR departments nationwide. Their beliefs are mandatory. Their feelings are gospel. Their nostrums are the only responses to collapse that can be countenanced in polite company. The result? Police and prosecutors can still ruin the life of any non-powerful person at any time, for any reason. Income inequality is the highest it’s ever been. The arctic was on aflame for more than month last year. We’re still indiscriminately dropping fire on muslims overseas. We still have world’s largest prison population. We’re in the midst of a pandemic that’s already killed the equivalent of 130 9/11′s and there’s no suggestion that we will even attempt to implement a plan to distribute vaccines successfully. A billion people will be “displaced” (i.e., killed) due to climate change before this wretched decade has finished. The rich still live above the rule of law. We’re as paranoid and hateful and alienated as we’ve ever been, and there is no hope of a better future.
In this sense, wokeness has been phenomenally successful. If I had to imagine utopia as it exists in the head of, oh, let’s say Roxane Gay or Robin D’Angelo, I don’t think it would be any different from how the United States of America actually exists in the year of our lord 2021. They’ve won. We’re living in the world they’ve built.
Of course there will always be pushback, and pushback will always be met with newer and more absurd means of excusing away the brutal dysfunction of our elite leadership class. Crimes against wokeness are matters of affect and subjective perception, pointedly divorced from any questions of intent and material consequences. You don’t get cancelled for brokering arms deals to Saudi Arabia, jailing parents for their child’s truancy, or bragging about having turned Libya into an open-air slave market. You get cancelled for making the powerful and their lackeys feel uncomfortable.
And so it’s come to this: the intention laid bare, the smears-by-association leveled at people for the explicit crime of attempting to hold some of the very worst humans on earth momentarily accountable. I don’t see how anyone can still believe in this shit, but I’m sure they do, I’m sure those who do will continue dominating our culture, and I’m sure that whatever comes of this will make everything worse.
Social Justice–not the concept in broad terms, but as it actually exists in the end stage of neoliberalism–is nothing more than a means of excusing brutality and immiseration. It always has been, and it always will be.
