Progress Report;

FEB 2024 - MARCH 2024;

Hello all!

Took a sort of accidental hiatus for the month (I was still on tumblr, I just wasn't posting), just to make sure my busy schedule didn't overwhelm me.

However! That does mean I've got quite a bit of work done, both for university and tag :)

You won't be getting a 'done' and 'to-do' list this time, since it's mostly been admin and editing, but I will say that the chapter one update for tag will be coming out this month.

I'm hesitant to give a more specific date this early on, but I'll reblog this post with something more specific once I know.

Noemia/Nikita Azevedo [gender selectable], your wildcard competitor.

Charismatic and arrogant, N has already made a name for themselves in the surfing community. After placing in the final five in the last UTT, they’ve been chosen as a wildcard this time around. Really, you don’t know all that much about N, considering you’ve never even met them, but from your limited research (e.g: watching interviews on YouTube) you can tell they’re.. a bit of a flirt. It’s hard to tell if a facade or not; but you don’t really want to find out, either.

Progress Update;

JAN 2024 - FEB 2024;

Hello all!

University has finally gotten back into full swing, i reckon the routine is helping me out a lot, but it means this hasn't been the most productive in terms of writing (more planning based). I'm pretty busy this month, i've realised, so i will be aiming to get chapter 1 out around the beginning to middle of March.

I did a bit of reworking, to fix the pacing (and keep myself sane) so i apologise if it isn't what you expected when it does come out.

now, without further ado, the checklist :)

DONE;

reworked the plans to fix the pacing a little bit (subject to further change)

added some more customisation that wasn't previously there

polished off the previously finished scenes, so they aren't just word vomit anymore

TO DO;

still have to do the meet the ROs scene

toying with the idea of replacing the first skill check with an option to snoop for information instead (be it through interaction or exploring); this would move the skill check to the beginning of chapter 2

A. Bellefleur; they can't bear the thought of not seeing you again, so much so that they just have to be certain you're behind them, that you're there. they never quite recover not getting you back, there's always something about their interactions from then on that feels hollow and...empty

A. Caras; they don't trust like that, especially not with authority. they don't agree to the conditions in the first place, and if/when forced into it they almost immediately turn around. they are smiling sadly, and apologising, asking that you understand why they didn't take 'some lowlife god's' word for it. they wear your favourite flowers in their hair until the day that they die, telling you all about their week when they visit your grave at the weekends

MAKES IT;

K. Valiev; you say you're behind them? they believe you. they have such blind trust in you that they would, quite literally, go to hell and back. they give you the warmest smile upon reaching the surface, welcoming you back with a hug (you notice, despite their calm demeanour, that they squeeze you just a little tighter)

T. Bellefleur; they struggle, they really do, but they make it. they spend the journey sending back witty quips about the scenery, joking that they'll move the both of you into a flower field to make up for the time you've spent in the monochrome of the underworld. when you get to the surface you notice they're shaking as they turn around and look at you, picking you up by the waist and twirling you delightedly when they realise you're right there

M. Serrel; they issue you your own condition, as they start back: if you speak to them before the surface, they will turn back. there is determination in their voice as they say it, and almost immediately after you affirm you've heard, they begin to walk. if you speak again, they turn back, looking at you with a mix of sadness and betrayal as they apologised. if you don't speak then they make it, turning back to face you at the surface with a relieved smile, burying their head in the crook of your neck and apologising profusely

i've been going through A Time but my lectures start up again soon so the routine will help, i hope you're doing well too!!

as for your question, since you want a longer answer (though some bits may still be vague to avoid spoilers), i'll put it under the cut :)

this is honestly a difficult one, i love all my characters, however i think i can answer this if i split it into two; characters in general, and specifically the romanceable options

of the ROs, i'd have to say T. Bellefleur, I've made it pretty obvious that Tally is one of my favourites, i think, but i'm a sucker for sarcastic characters. having said that if you put me in a poly with A. Caras and Tally i think i would be just as happy. looking at my plans for their routes, the different types of MCs and the ways they can learn to navigate around Caras and Tally and the unique/individual ways they express their emotions really draws me in.

of the characters in general? that was a little tougher, there are so many options to consider. i think, though, i would have to say Mirella (Mimi) Acierno or Hex Seif.

Mimi (she/her) is the MC's personal maid, she's bubbly and strong-willed and will care for the MC deeply regardless of how they treat her because that's just who she is as an individual. i really admire that kind of person, and i think she would be a delight to be around.

Hex (he/they) is one of the townsfolk that MC has the option to interact with on days off (and certain work activities), he's playful and friendly, but there's just something about him that seems...off. they may be a bit of a cliche, to some, but the exploration and things you can learn about him as you develop a friendship with Hex (including his actual name, because it isn't 'Hex') is something that would be so fun to explore.

LOL ah, of course, the universal neurodivergent sign of affection

A. Bellefleur; confused at first, assumes they've done something to upset you. once you explain they chuckled fondly and lightly bite your shoulder in return ("I want to tell you that I love you in every language," they explain matter-of-factly)

K. Valiev; they barely flinch, smiling confusedly at you. once you explain they nod in understanding, you notice that they aren't wearing their heavy armour around you if they can possibly help it (they wear their light armour, the material softer on your mouth and teeth)

A. Caras; they grumble at you, asking what the hell that was for. once you explain, you find that they start doing the same to you every so often, their teeth grazing your shoulder or arm before they go back to whatever they were doing

T. Bellefleur; laughs, asking you what you think you're doing. once you explain, they laugh delightedly, pressing a light kiss to your cheek ("in that case, firecracker, you can bite me whenever you want," they grin proudly, overjoyed at your alternate method of affection)

M. Serrel; they gently flick your nose, asking you why you'd bite them. once you explain, they press a purposely loud kiss to your lips ('mwah' sound and all) and coo how cute you are for that, you find they do it every now and again with a giggle before going back to whatever they were doing

A. Bellefleur; clearly embarrassed, will do it to avoid the backache of sleeping on the floor (and too nice to suggest you sleep on the floor), they make sure all of the curtains are well and truly closed before slipping onto their side of the bed. they make a pillow wall between you and couldn't be closer to their edge of the bed if they tried (really, you wake up in the morning to them half hanging off of it). if you try to bring it up after you've left, they dodge the topic with a practiced diplomacy.

K. Valiev; you don't even have to ask, they're already setting up on the floor, one pillow and the spare blanket is enough for them. they could be convinced to share, however it would take so long that neither of you would get much sleep anyways (it's probably easier to just let it happen). if you try to bring it up after you've left, they give you the sweetest smile and assure you that it really was no trouble at all and they hope you slept alright.

A. Caras; they're on the floor, with their back to you, using their arm as a pillow. if you offer the bed you'll be ignored, they might take the spare blanket if you put it by them, but they seem content on the floor. there's no convincing them to move at all, they will not share with you. if you try to bring it up after you've left, they barely acknowledge their floor sleep, simply asking what you want as if sleeping easily on the floor was just an average occurrence.

T. Bellefleur; they're in the bed already, if you're uncomfortable with sharing then in all likelihood you'll be the one on the floor. they aren't meaning to be cruel at all, they work on 'finders keepers' rules (or in this case 'first come, first served'). if you try to bring it up after you've left, they grin at you and wink cheekily, informing you that you should be faster into the room next time.

M. Serrel; they'll do whatever you want. you want the bed alone? that's okay, they can manage on the floor with the spare bedding. you don't mind sharing the bed? perfect, they'll take whatever side you don't want. they are a naturally touchy person, so they are more than happy to cuddle up next to you for warmth if you want that. if you try to bring it up after you've left they grin slyly and tease you about missing them in your bed, they are happy to share with you again if you get lonely.

i'm going to try and keep consistent with monthly progress updates this year, not only to keep you all informed with how it's going, but also to keep myself motivated lol

so!

december was a slow one, because of the holidays, but i think i got an alright amount done all things considered :)

all of the non-ro scenes (intro to your room, meeting your personal staff, etc.)

had a fiddle with the code to try and fix up some things (that is a work in progress)

not game related, really, but started working on some more in-depth character descriptions and possible portraits (starting with the ROs but i will be doing some prominent side characters as well)

meet the rest of the ROs (and your first impression on them)

take on your first advisory challenge for Aleron/Alize (this one doesn't effect anything Much, it's mostly to show you how those will work)
