I am honestly baffled by people telling us to keep Jiang Cheng “hate” (by which they tend to mean posts discussing things he does in canon) out of the JC tag.
Okay, here is an example that most English-speaking fans (where the tag discussion tends to happen) will recognize. I like Darth Vader as a character. The father-son relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker is my favorite Star Wars relationship. I really enjoy AUs where they get to be a family.
And yet, Darth Vader is a villain. He turns out not to be the main villain, that’s Palpatine, but Darth Vader spends most of the story opposing the protagonists, committing torture and murder, and assisting in mass murder/genocide (destruction of Alderaan). And that’s just the original trilogy!
He has a traumatic backstory that includes slavery and grooming. As we watch the prequel trilogy, we come to understand his decisions and how he became the villain he was. Many people sympathize with him.
But as a Darth Vader fan, I think most of us consistently recognize that he did some very bad shit. And most of us don’t excuse it. Yeah, there will be some people saying the Jedi deserved what they got, but most Darth Vader fans are just “Okay, this is part of his story. He did bad things. We are still interested in exploring his potential for redemption and how he might connect with his family, even given the bad things he did to them specifically.”
And even then, in most of the Luke & Vader fic I read where they get to bond, most people don’t force Leia in there as well (unless it’s like an AU where Vader always got to raise her). They look at what he did to her in canon and recognize that she is unlikely to reasonably want to build a relationship with him and respect that.
When I go into the Darth Vader tag, I do generally expect to see posts sympathetic to him and his story. But when I also come across a post discussing how Leia is a ball of rage but she won’t want to be like her biological father, I am not, like...insulted on Darth Vader’s behalf. I don’t think that’s hate.
I would also not think it was hate if someone posted discussing their discomfort with any story where Vader and Leia build a familial relationship, given he tortures her in canon and holds her back as her planet is destroyed and freezes her love interest in carbonite to give him to someone who hates him. As a Vader fan, I would think “not my feelings, but valid.” And I would move on because it’s a post discussing Darth Vader’s canon actions in his tag and it made sense to tag it that way.
Discussing Vader’s canon actions and their impact to the story and the characters can and does coexist with AU family bonding.
So I honestly think it’s a little ridiculous that something similar cannot happen with the Jiang Cheng tag.
In canon, JC whips WWX with Zidian with the intent of expelling his spirit from MXY’s body, effectively meant to kill him (Chapter 10).
In canon, JC deliberately uses WWX’s greatest fear against him to hold him against his will and punish him (Chapter 24).
In canon, JC does not just announce WWX’s departure from Yunmeng Jiang, he calls him an enemy of the sects (Chapter 73).
In canon, JC reacts with disgust to hearing that MXY is gay (Chapter 10) and to seeing WWX and LWJ hug (Chapter 88).
In canon, JC hits his nephew Jin Ling on multiple occasions (Chapters 99 and 107, etc.).
People who enjoy discussing and creating content based on canon should be able to reference the bad things that JC does and the impact they have on the story and characters. We should be able to do this using the JC tag, because tags are an organizational tool both for our personal blogs and as something that allows people who may not have encountered us before to contribute to the discussion.
If you are someone who enjoys a softer AU portrayal of JC, that’s fine. The tag is for you. But the tag is also for me, if I want to discuss how the canon homophobia he displays impacts WWX and the Wangxian relationship. These things should be able to coexist in the tag without someone telling me that I should tag my hate.
It’s not hate. It’s canon.

Dear daugher - chapter 10
Word count: 2,044
Summary: It´s the first day of school, you show Emma around when you see a girl getting assaulted. Of course you have to step in.
Warnings: swearing, mentions of sexual assault and violence
Tumblr media
You only appreciated your aunt all the more, she always told you that things would get better while your mom only taught you how to be careful around people you didn´t know and even more around the ones you did know.
Baji helped you off the bike when you arrived at school, you both knew he didn´t need to, you didn´t need the help and yet you greatly appreciated it since it just showed that he cared.
“Alright, Emma! Are you ready for your tour?” you smiled at her and entered the school building together. The boys tagged along with you for a bit until Mikey and Draken left for some business.
You gave her a very detailed tour, showing her every room and explaining everything, especially focusing on her and your classroom. You showed her the quickest ways to go everywhere, the club rooms and the outside part. She followed quite well and remembered everything, your class rooms weren´t far away from each other so she could always come by and ask you some things if she had any questions.
“Thanks, (Y/N/N)!” she smiled and waved goodbye to you and Baji when the tour was done, just in time. She shamelessly called you by the nickname Mikey gave you when you first met, which you didn´t mind. It only showed how close you two were already even if you didn´t spend that much time together.
Still, she was just like Mikey… and not at the same time. She definitely shared the carefree and fun loving part of him but you knew that she could be serious as well, sometimes a bit too serious for her age. But she didn´t have it easy, far from that…
You decided to take care of her in school, to watch out for her and help her with homework if she needed and wanted it.
Baji and you walked to your own classroom and talked a bit on the way, you decided to do a classic movie marathon on the weekend after the gang´s meeting was over.
It was so funny how you didn´t even notice the boy sitting next to you at first and now you were best friends.
The first lesson of the day was quite relaxing, you didn´t do a lot, it was essentially just organizational things, the perks of the first week after the break. Still, it was quite boring too so you were glad when it was over.
The first thing you looked forward to every day in school: eating lunch with your friends! You practically ran out of the classroom to get Emma first. Baji chuckled a bit at your level of energy, he was still so amazed at how enthusiastic and motivated you always were.
Even now, you were just walking down the hallway but he swore your smile could be seen from a mile away, it was intoxicating, whenever people were around you they just couldn´t help but smile right back at you. And they better. You worked hard to make others smile, they didn´t know what you were hiding behind yours. If they didn´t smile back at you it was like they disregarded everything that you were passionate about, every bit of serotonin you wanted to share. Neither Baji nor the others would have that and he was the first one to punch everyone who looked down on you.
“You´re a real cutie, you know that? Prettiest girl in school… and yet you never look at me, that´s unfair, don´t you agree? Why don´t you come with me and make it up to me?” you could practically hear the disgusting voice of the boy before you saw him. Without thinking about it you rushed past Baji and confronted him.
Before you there was Mayu, the prettiest girl in your class, the most popular too, backed against the wall, fear in her eyes and his hand up her shirt.
Baji couldn´t even react fast enough to what was happening, before he could you already roughly pulled the boy away from her.
“Oi, you wanna feel something nice, round and firm?” you asked, a threatening tone in your voice that even sent shivers down Baji´s spine. He´s never seen you like this but he couldn´t look away.
The boy didn´t even have the chance to reply before you smashed your knee into his stomach as hard as you could, forcing him on his knees only so that you could punch him in the face as hard as you could until he passed out.
“Are you alright?” you smiled at Mayu and closed the buttons on her shirt for her. She nodded.
“Somehow… thank you” she sounded more than relieved and gave you a thankful smile.
You never thought that Mayu would be someone you´d ever interact with, after all she was quite the contrary from you. She was beautiful and popular, her friend group consisted of the good girls who couldn´t hurt a fly even if they tried.
But you should know better than to judge.
“What the fuck…. I guess you aren´t my princess anymore, huh?” Baji laughed and patted your shoulder proudly.
“Oh shit, am I in trouble now?” you panicked as you realized what you just did, looking at him for help. Mayu was still standing there, not really knowing what to do.
To her you were a mystery. She wondered what happened to the shy girl but found her answer when she saw your friends. She always thought they had a bad influence on you but this encounter changed her mind.
Maybe they weren´t so bad. And… maybe you weren´t either. You helped her after all, you were the first person who cared enough to even look at what was happening. You didn´t look away like all the others, saying she should´ve seen it coming with the way she looked.
So getting assaulted was her fault for being pretty? That was fucked up. She didn´t want to live in a world like that.
“Not really, don´t worry about it. You did him in pretty bad so he won´t tell on you. And even if he does, after I´m done with him he sure as hell won´t” he told you, grinning at the pathetic sight in front of him. He just couldn´t help but burst out in laughter again.
“Man, I can´t wait to tell the others about this. Our little (Y/N) beat some asshole up. I can´t believe it” he chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. The scene replayed in his head over and over again and honestly, he didn´t want it to stop. It was just too good to be true.
“I´m not that little! Besides, he had it coming. If I see other guys like him I´m gonna fuck them up too. I want girls like her to feel safe, I want Emma to be safe.” you told him earnestly, the determination in your eyes spoke for itself. Baji nodded, he knew your ambitions, you were such a kind person but he never thought that you´d actually do something like that. Not that he didn´t believe in you, he just always thought your way of fighting was… less physical.
“Mayu. If you´re in such a situation again you gotta kick the guy as hard as you can and then run to get either me or one of my friends, you got that? And if you have a bad feeling about going somewhere I´m going to come with you. Don´t be afraid to reach out, I´ll always help you out. Oh and tell that to your friends too, I´ll always protect those in need” you announced.
Mayu bowed a bit in thanks and then went to her friends to eat lunch with them.
Meanwhile you and Baji went to pick up Emma to walk her to your usual lunch spot.
“Sorry we´re a bit late, something amazing just happened” Baji announced grinning and you just nudged his shoulder, somehow you had the feeling that this situation would haunt you for a while.
“What? I´m curious now!” she looked at you expectantly but he told her that you two needed to tell them when everyone was together since it was just too good.
“So, how were your first lessons today? Did you get along alright?” you asked her and she told you everything about it, going into great detail which you appreciated since you could just tell that she had a lot to talk about and you wanted her to know that you cared and were listening to her, more than that, that you actually were interested in what she was saying.
“That sounds nice, do you already know if you want to be in a club? I can show you around if you want to, or Mitsuya can too, whoever has time at the moment” you smiled and she nodded.
“Yeah I can ask him later! I haven´t thought about it yet, I like spending time with you guys more” she thought out loud and you agreed with her.
“There you are, we were getting worried. What took you so long? Don´t tell me you kidnapped our princess to make out with her” Mikey teased you.
“Shut up” Baji just scoffed, it wasn´t uncommon that you two were mistaken for a couple and therefore your friend group started teasing you relentlessly and it got to a point where it was just annoying. The breaking point for Baji was when Draken told him he could always confide in him and that his chances wouldn´t even be that bad. And Baji, well… he got a bit loud to get his point across that he really didn´t see you that way and neither did you and that would never change and it really wasn´t that serious. That basically everyone should calm down already.
You were the only one who laughed about it even though you were the last person to find it funny. Those comments pressured you immensely into thinking about relationships when you didn´t want to. And Baji knew that which is why he got so pissed off about it. He was completely fine in everything, it was always the girl that got bombarded with stupid questions when it came to those things, it annoyed him to no end.
“Anyways, there´s a very good reason why we´re late. This one just fucking beat up some asshole who groped some girl, kneed him right in the stomach and then suckerpunched him!” he told them, barely trying to hold in his laughter.
Everyone was shocked. That much was clear, they all looked at you so paralyzed and absolutely flabbergasted. They just couldn´t believe it.
“And you wanna know the best thing? The princess over here really said to him: you wanna feel something nice, round and firm? And then bam! Kneed him right then and there. That guy went down immediately” he proudly told the story to everyone and Mikey was the first one to give you a high five, Pah and Peh followed, Mitsuya nodded at you smiling.
And Draken…
Well, he had the biggest fucking grin imaginable plastered on his face and was walking right up to you, arms open to hug you.
“Come on, bring it in!” he squeezed you tight and even picked you up.
“I´m so proud of you! You did really well, next time you tell me to come over so I can watch, okay? Baji, just hold the guy down until I´m there. I wanna see how well I taught our little princess” he smirked.
Usually he was so reserved and unmovable but in an unreachable way, he was distant but not cold, it wasn´t often that he showed his emotions like this, or that he let them out overall.
You just couldn´t help but smile, Draken´s happiness, his fire, was contagious, it went right over to you and you felt really good about yourself. At first you were scared of the possible consequences but there were none.
You just earned the respect of the gang, in a very different way than the respect they had for you before. Of course they still would always protect you but they were at ease knowing you could and would protect yourself and others as well.

I know I don’t tag things like the rest of you. I am special. I was hand crafted by god. You mean nothing to me. Your “organizational tags” mean nothing to me. I will tag things with whatever comes out of the pinball machine of my brain. I do not have any mutuals yet who have specific tags I don’t think (if you do dm me I don’t read abt pages every time). I will be using tumblr like the disgusting cesspit it is thank you very much.

count the change, and keep my heart
Fandom: Hetalia Relationship: USUK Rating: Teen Word Count: 1530 Summary:
Written for the @usuknetwork Secret Santa event. Happy Holidays @love-and-libertea-writes! I went with your prompt, “Omegaverse pregnant Arthur and his mate Alfred going Christmas shopping”
AO3/FFN links will be the most recent post on my blog if you prefer reading on those platforms.
Arthur turns to look pointedly at his mate. “I’m pregnant, not made of glass.”
Alfred smiles guilty, his scent betraying him. “I didn’t say anything,” he says, but Arthur lifts an eyebrow in challenge. “Maybe I am a little worried,” he admits. “But Dr. Oxenstierna said he was considering bed rest!”
“Yes, and then he said he would hold off on it,” Arthur replies. “I’m only six months along, love. You’ve got three more months to coddle me to your heart’s content.”
Alfred manages not to blurt out that he already has those months planned out. Instead, he pulls Arthur closer, wrapping his arm around the other to rest his hand against the side of Arthur’s swollen stomach.
The crowd around them is relentless, hundreds of others dashing to find gifts for their loved ones. Normally, Alfred & Arthur wouldn’t wait until the week before Christmas, Arthur preferring to carefully identify the best gifts for their friends and family, and Alfred tasked with finding the best deals for them (and Alfred was already planning to induct their unborn child into the art of extreme couponing). But between the toll the pregnancy had taken on Arthur and the last-minute project Alfred’s boss had assigned him to, they hadn’t had the chance.
Of all the years for this to happen…! Alfred cursed silently, before putting the thought away. For the last three months, the bond between him and Arthur had strengthened, the two of them almost frighteningly in sync. It had its benefits––Alfred was still living off the sweet sex the two of them had last week, when he had come home with the exact craving Arthur was thinking of. But other times, the two of them could sense even the slightest hint of discontentment the other had.
Or the baby could, even though Dr. Oxenstierna had said no one knew if that was true. Arthur could tease Alfred for being overdramatic all he wanted, but he wasn’t taking the chance with their first child.
“I can’t believe we had to park on the other side of this bloody mall,” Arthur grumbles, interrupting Alfred from his thoughts. “Doesn’t anyone shop in advance? Christmas is the same day every year!"
Alfred chuckles. “Not all of them have your finicky organizational skills, babe.” He discreetly elbows a beta who is getting a little too insistent at pushing their seven bag ensemble through his side. “Besides, we’ve never seen the mall look this Christmas-y!”
“Yes, we have. They put up these decorations before Thanksgiving this year,” Arthur says, without bothering to hide the disgust in his voice. “Honestly, it’s shameful...they get worse every year…”
“I’d play All I Want for Christmas is You from September if I could,” Alfred suggests with pure innocence. It’s worth the look of absolute horror that crosses Arthur’s face. In the next second, he’s regretting it, mind already jumping to the swaths of Facebook posts he’s read about “bad vibes” and “negative energy” or “my pregnant omega yelled at me once and my baby came out with no scent and the doctors won’t admit we’re right!”
Well, maybe not the latter. But there have been a lot of Facebook posts. Arthur called it all useless drivel, and Alfred always agreed...until it was 2 am and he was watching pregnant omega vlogs.
Too sharp for his own good, Arthur catches the thread of guilt immediately. “What are you worrying about now?” he sighs, curling closer to Alfred as they two of them make their way to their destined shop.
(Alfred was used to the translucency of his scent. Their first meeting wasn’t as smooth as he liked think––it went a little something more like: a younger him, star struck at the handsome omega sprawled across a classroom desk, the other snidely advising him to keep your scent low, or you’ll tell the whole school about how much you’d like to fuck me.)
“I just want to keep you safe,” he murmurs, almost shy to say it. No one around them cares, but Arthur looks at him with rapt attention––and some confusion.
“...Christmas music isn’t going to kill me,” Arthur says. A beat passes. “And neither will this pregnancy. I know you’re worried, but it’ll be okay.” Looking up at Alfred, Arthur grins wickedly, the look out of place in his unassuming maternity clothes. “I didn’t fight off all those omegas to die before giving you your first child.” His eyes flick over to Alfred’s mating mark, a mirror to the mark on his own neck. “I’m certain I get all my energy from imagining their sour looks once our child is born.”
Alfred bursts out laughing. “Our high school reunion is in six months too. I’ve totally got to RSVP yes."
“Hmmm...the look on Francis’ face would be perfect...and he said I wouldn’t be mated ‘til I was thirty!” Arthur’s eyes are bright, his pace quickening in excitement. The residual excitement infects Alfred and he follows, the two of them cackling over whatever petty work they’ll put into showing up.
In no time at all, they’ve arrived to the front of the woodworking store that holds the last gift on their list: an expensive feather board for Alfred’s brother, Matthew. Privately, Alfred wishes Mathew had stuck with hockey as primary hobby–– at least then he could understand what he was buying. He had no idea what this ‘feather board’ did, but he had it on good authority (and by that, he meant his coworker Ludwig had recommended it in a single sentence with no elaboration) that this was a premier (and expensive) item in the field.
He’d get a gift receipt just in case.
For such a niche shop, it is annoyingly busy. Alfred keeps Arthur close as they scan the shelves for the item.
“Is this it?” Arthur asks, gesturing to one board.
“No, the one in the picture is bigger,” Alfred replies. “What about this one?”
“Wrong shade of tan,” Arthur answers, already flicking his eyes back to the shelves. Alfred grumbles underneath his breath, putting the item away and crouching to check the names of the other boards on the price tags.
He doesn’t find it. Scowling, he stands up, already preparing to annoyingly hang around the cashier until some assistance could be rendered. As he turns, he catches a display off to the side behind Arthur––highlighting the exact item they need.
“Arthur!” Alfred exclaims, and the other man jumps at the shout in his ear. Alfred cringes, and lowers his voice. “I think it’s behind you!”
Arthur turns, and his eyes widen in recognition. “That’s it,” he confirms. “Only one left––we got lucky!”
As if a greater power conspires against them, they catch a pair of alphas also pointing at the table. In growing horror, one of them begins walking towards it.
“Arthur,” Alfred hisses. “You jinxed it!”
Arthur is already moving away from him. Just as the other alpha begins to reach for the feather board, Arthur body checks him, swiping the item from under the other’s nose. In one of the fakest looks of innocence Alfred has ever seen cross his mate’s face, Arthur says, “Oh, please excuse me.”
The alpha looks ready to snap, before catching the mark on Arthur’s neck and the swell of his stomach. Alfred comes up behind his mate, hand possessively placed in the small of the other’s back. “Is there a problem?” he asks, struggling to suppress his mirth.
Glaring, the alpha has no choice but to back down. “Keep your omega close,” he says, almost spitting the words out. Arthur looks at Alfred and smirks.
Alfred’s laughter is slipping through his teeth. “Why did I think pregnancy would make you calmer?“
Arthur raises his eyebrows, maintaining the picture of innocence. “Whatever do you mean? I’ve always been calm and proper.” He pauses for a second, struggling not to laugh as well. “Now if you’ll join me, we have a purchase to make.”
They walk out with their spoils of war. “Hope you paid close attention to that, poppet” Arthur says to his stomach, arms curving underneath.
“Oh god,” Alfred mutters. “If our child takes after you, we’ll be stuck in the principal’s office every single day.”
“I met you in detention,” Arthur reminds him. A few seconds later, “...maybe it’d be best if our first child was a little calmer.”
First child.
The words were almost impossible to comprehend. The two of them had been trying for so long, and Alfred had comforted his mate through too many sleepless nights, as Arthur confessed to feelings of inadequacy and self-blame. But they were here, at six months even with all the difficulty Arthur was having, and they were going to make it.
Alfred steals a glance at Arthur. The other man’s face is flush, and Alfred can detect the weariness seeping into his mate’s scent and body. But beyond that, a small yet triumphant grin coats his face, enthused at the conclusion to their Christmas shopping. Alfred ignores his worries, for once, not out of fear, but determination for the future, and kisses the head of the love of his life.
