[ID: Traditional drawing of modern AU Zukka. It's a close up of Zuko taking Sokka's chin while they look lovingly at eachother. Framing the characters you can read "¿Qué es poesía?, dices mientras clavas en mi pupila tu pupila azul. ¡Qué es poesía! ¿Y tú me lo preguntas? Poesía... eres tú". End ID.]
@zukkaweek Day 1 modern au but a week later 😜
The quote is a poem by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. It (roughly) translates to "What is poetry?, you ask while your blue pupils penetrate my pupil. What is poetry! And you ask me? You are poetry".

EVAU (aka my Important Tests™), explained by me
I want to do a Marble and Magic take EVAU tests since it's a topic that is relatable to me, but first, I should explain what EVAU is.
Note: if you are not interested in knowing what EVAU is, it's fine, just ignore this post. Sorry!!
Explanations under the cut!! Warning: long post ahead.
"What's that evau thing?" You may be asking.
Evau, or Evaluación para el Acceso a la Universidad (University Access Assessment) is how we call in Spain to the period of time where we take different tests to be able to go to university.
And yes, this cost money (a lot in my opinion)
Why is this important??
For you?? It isn't, unless you are taking them.
For me it's my whole future right now (yes I'm aware that I'm dramatic). Basically EVAU is my ticket to uni/college.
What kind of tests?
It depends on what you want to study and the subjects you chose. In our senior year of high school (Segundo de Bachillerato), we have to choose some specific subjects and we prepare all the year only for these tests.
The subjects are four main ones everybody has to take (Spanish, English, Maths and Spanish History) and two or three specifics (mines are Economy and Geography). The main subjects aren't really important in regards of the career you want to study, but the specifics do matter.
More specifics examples are Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Latin, Greek or Art History.
French and German are also given as a third specific option.
Also, depending of where you live in Spain you'll have to take another exam for the second official language of that place (Catalan, Valencian or Basque for example)
The catch???
Why do the specifics matter so much for the career you are choosing???
Well, think about it as a bonus: for every career, there are some specifics that count double (if you are going to study something related to biology, taking biology and chemistry test will give you more points than economy and latin for example)
So not every specific you choose in your last year of high school counts.
Grade system.
Okay, since the grade system is completely difficult and complex, I'm gonna stick to the basics without percentages and those hideous things I had to learn by heart.
The most important one: every career has a grade or a number (called "nota de corte" in Spanish). You need to score close to that grade to be able to study that career. (If you have a 7 there's no way you are going to be admitted in a 13.5 career. I mean, you can have high hopes but not that high, pal).
The highest grade is a 14, but these tests aren't everything. Your grades of the last two years of highschool are, in fact, a 60% of that final grade.
With a 4/10 in the main subjects in evau and a 6/10 as an average of those last two years of highschool, you pass. This is important if you (like me) are going to a private college cause that's the only thing they require (plus the €€€€€).
You need to pass those two years of highschool to take EVAU. I have friends who are going to take the test on September cause they failed one subject.
I know, I know, too much information. But you don't need these in order to understand my next post. Just what I explained about the subjects.
Finally, and then??
After EVAU is over and everyone has their grade, you need to apply to universities and careers, of course. But, of course, there is a limit of students for one career in one university.
Remember that grade or number I talked about before?? Well, if you take the grade of the last person who applies to that career, that'd be your career grade for the next year.
Basically, universities start choosing from the highest grade of the person who applied and then keep taking people in until there are no more places.
Conclusion.
Thanks for making it so far, taking into account that nobody is interested in this xD.
As hard as it may seen, 97% of the students who take these tests pass so its not impossible.
I really wanted to explain in detail specific subjects cause my characters would have to choose specifics, of course.
If someone is somehow interested in this and have questions, please ask me!! I could have an Evau explanation degree by now after all the times I've been explained this!!
