Dark! House Of The Dragon x Game of Thrones! Reader|Part 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
<<< Part 2
Jacaerys is in love with the idea of being a father.
In fact he took Aemma riding on the back of Vermax right after she was born just like his great grandmother Alyssa did with Viserys, just for excitement.
Rhaenyra, loves Aemma and teared up when you named the baby after her mother, she even thought about wedding Aegon III to her when they reached adulthood.
After arriving to King's Landing, the first thing you see is Aemond training while you stand beside Jace and Luke watching him, as you hold your sleeping daughter in your arms.
Jacearys felt jealous on how Aemond took away your attention, desbite
The real reason why you are impressed by Aemond's skills, is because it reminded you of your uncle/father Jaime, you always loved to watch him train.
While training Aemond notices you and stops, eying you and the baby intensely which made you uncomfortable.
All Aemond could feel was anger and jealousy, because you were supposed.
When Vaemond arrives, you prepare yourself and your daughter, you show up dressing in the colors of House Velaryon.
"Vaemond has forgotten that Lady Rhaenys descends from the house Baratheon on her mother's side, Also my daughter, princess Aemma..."
You stand in the middle of the throne room, holding your daughter up proudly for everyone to see her white hair and purple eyes.
Even if you and Jace are the children of Harwin Strong, but your daughter inherited Rhaenyra's appearance, your mother's genes skipped a generation.
Vaemond, decided to insult you and call you and your mother 'whores' as you return back to your husband and mother's side.
Of course, in a spin of seconds, Daemon sliced the Velaryon's man head in half, as Jacaerys blocked yours and Aemma's view.
However, Jace was smirking, happy at what his stepfather did.
Later that day at the feast, Jace and Luke made a promise to you that they would behave and ignore whatever Aemond and Aegon say.
When Jace asked to dance with you at the feast, you objected, insisting on him dancing with Helaena instead.
Aegon and Aemond thought that your marriage wasn't the best with your twin due to how you turned Jace down.
Things escalated when the pig gets placed on the table and Luke whispers a joke in your ear at the exact moment, making you laugh.
Even though the joke wasn't about Aemond, but Luke knew exactly what he was doing as he smirked at his uncle...taunting him.
"Final tribute, to the health of my nephews, Jace, Luke, and Joffrey, each of them handsome, wise...and Strong"
Before Jace and Luke could even think about getting angry, you raise a glass with a huge smile on your face.
"Indeed, Uncle, we are strong afterall, my brothers and I descend from the two purest Valyrian houses, Targaryen and Velaryon, my mother is also the heir to the seven kingdoms"
Your grandfather Tywin taught you how to act wisely in such situations.
Aemond wished to speak more, but one look from Daemon was enough to let him know that you are a red line.
However, Aemond only gave you one last stare, as if to make a promise.
A promise where he will have you as a wife.

What have you done! Part 5
Summary: The dance has started blood will shed but who will survive the dance of dragons?
Tumblr media
(Y/N) lays in bed as Aemond and Rhaenyra hold the twins.
“I need help getting dressed” (Y/N) says as she sits up in bed.
“(Y/N) why do you need to get dressed my darling?” Rhaenyra asks (Y/N).
“I want grandfather to meet the twins' mother” (Y/N) says as she tries to get up again.
“I’ll get your grandfather for you my dear” Rhaenyra says to (Y/N) as she gives Alicent the baby girl she was holding.
Viserys walks in with the help of Daemon and Rhaenyra as he sits down near (Y/N).
“Grandfather I want you to meet Baelor and Aemma Targaryen.” (Y/N) tells Viserys.
“Oh look at these two beautiful babes I am proud of you (Y/N) and you my son Aemond I’m proud of you as well you will be wonderful parents. Viserys says to (Y/N) as he kisses her forehead and kisses each babe on the forehead.
“You named her Aemma?” Rhaenyra asks (Y/N).
“Yes, I've always wanted to name my daughter after my grandmother.” (Y/N) says to Rhaenyra and Viserys.
(Y/N) sat in her room as the maids help her dress for dinner with her whole family as (Y/N) walks in Viserys finished talking to everyone as (Y/N) makes way to sit next to Aemond as everyone begins to eat and laugh with each other.
The happiness did not last long as a roasted pig was placed in front of Aemond and (Y/N) as Luke let’s out a little laughter as it was placed down Aemond stood up and raised his cup.
“Final tribute to the health of my nephews Jace, Luke and Joffrey, each of them handsome, wise….. strong” Aemond says while looking at Luke and Jace.
“Aemond!” (Y/N) and Alicent yell.
“Come let us drain our cups to these three strong boys,” Aemond says, smiling at Jace and Luke.
“I dare you to say that again!” Jace says angrily at Aemond.
“Why twas only a compliment? Do you not think yourself strong?” Aemond asks Jace.
Jace walks up to Aemond and punches him hard but Aemond doesn’t move as he looks back at Jace and pushes him to the floor as Aegon holds Luke down as (Y/N) makes way over to Aegon and pulls him off of Luke and walks over to Aemond and slaps him in the face.
“You have no fucking right to call my brothers strong Aemond you understand me. Be thankful I am your wife or I would have slit your throat where you stand!” (Y/N) yells at Aemond as she leaves the dining hall and walks into the twins room and cries softly into her hands.
(Y/N) slept in the twins room as the maids helped set up a bed for (Y/N).
(Y/N) gets up and tries to open the door but finds it locked but soon the door is open as Alicent and Aemond walk in.
“What is going on? Why was the door locked?” (Y/N) asks Aemond and Alicent.
“(Y/N) my dear your grandfather passed in his sleep last night” Alicent tells (Y/N).
“What…. No that can’t be” (Y/N) says as the tears began falling down her cheeks.
“Before he passed I was with him and he told me he wants Aegon as heir” Alicent tells (Y/N).
“No…. He would never name that boy his heir.” (Y/N) says angrily.
“He did and Aegon will be crowned soon” Aemond tells (Y/N).
“No he would never in 20 plus years he would’ve never made Aegon his heir so I do not believe your mothers words” (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“Your whore of a mother does not belong on the Throne!” Aemond yells at (Y/N).
“My mother is my grandfather’s rightful heir not your whore fucking rapist brother!” (Y/N) yells at Aemond as he and Alicent leave the room and lock the door behind them.
The Letter
“Mother I am writing to you to tell you grandfather has passed and Alicent says he named Aegon his heir before his passing. I do not believe her or her words and they will crown him King soon. I will fly to Dragon Stone as soon as possible.
Your loyal daughter (Y/N).
The door is opened as Ser Steffon and Ser Arryk enter and tell (Y/N) to get dressed and get the twins ready to leave.
“No I can not leave, I must stay and heal, take this letter with you and give it to my mother as soon as you can Ser Arryk” (Y/N) tells him as he leaves the room.
“Princess as your sworn protector I will stay with you.” Ser Steffon tells (Y/N).
“Thank you Ser Steffon” (Y/N) says as he leaves the room and locks the door.
The door is pushed open roughly as Aemond walks in scaring (Y/N) and the twins.
“You're still here?” Aemond asks, sounding surprised.
“Yes I’m still here but not for long” (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“What do you mean not for long?” Aemond asks (Y/N).
“I mean Aemond that as soon as the maester says I can ride again I am taking my children to Dragon Stone to be with my mother. (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“No you will not leave me and you won’t take my children away from me (Y/N)!” Aemond yells at (Y/N).
“I can and I will Aemond and I will take my children with me no matter what you say!” (Y/N) yells back at him.
“Did you know?” Aemond asks (Y/N) calmly.
“Did I know what ?” (Y/N) asks Aemond.
“That Rhaenys would break through the dragon pit and kill innocent people during Aegon’s coronation” Aemond tells (Y/N).
“No I did not know she was going to escape and kill people but it would have happened if your fucking family had listened to what my grandfather always wanted my mother his first born daughter from the woman he truly ever loved” (Y/N) says to Aemond as he leaves the room.
One moon later
(Y/N) sat in the twins room playing with them as Aemond walks in drenched in water and looking very pale.
“Aemond….. Aemond what is the matter?” (Y/N) asks as she gets a blanket and wraps it around him.
“I…. I went to Storm's End to make a marriage proposal to Lord Baratheon for one of his daughters to marry Daeron and then Lucerys showed up and I fought with him that he owes me a debt and I through a dagger at his feet and told him to give me his eye and Lord Baratheon yelled at us to not fight and he was getting away so I chased after him and the dragons didn’t listen and I…. I” Aemond tells (Y/N).
“What Aemond…..is Lucerys okay?” (Y/N) asks Aemond.
“No my love I….. I killed him” Aemond says to (Y/N).
“What have you done! Why would you kill him?” (Y/N) asks Aemond.
“(Y/N) I did not mean for it to happen” Aemond says as (Y/N) walks up to him and slaps him in the face.
“Yes you did mean for it to happen you just couldn’t leave him be you are still that scared little boy who lost his eye even after all these years I thought you have grown but no you are nothing to me know do you understand me I hate and I never want to see your face again!” (Y/N) yells at Aemond as she hits him over and over.
“I tried to stop Vhagar-“ Aemond starts to say.
“Get out get out get out!” (Y/N) yells at him as she pushes him out of the room.
“Ser Steffon get Thila and tell her to get the twins and herself ready to fly to Dragon Stone” (Y/N) tells Ser Steffon.
“Yes Princess.” Ser Steffon says as he leaves to get the maid.
(Y/N) gets on top of Baelon and holds Baelor as Thila holds Aemma as Ser Steffon sits behind Thila and holds her as Baelon flies over King's Landing’s.

Fixing Ep. II of House of the Dragon.
Timeline
The second episodes happens six months after the end of episode 1 so we are either in the year 106 a.C or ending the year 105 a.C . Let's say we are already in the year 106 A.C
Alicent is either sixteen or soon to be, as is Laena. Rhaenyra is also either 14 or soon to be.
Keeping Viserys's birth as it is in the show, he is 29 which makes us need another younger actor for the first time of the season. This also makes Daemon 25, but I am not sure if changing actor is equally necessary with him. Rhaenys is in her 30s and I don't think we need another actress for her either if her hair is dark
Scenes
Nothing wrong with the beginning scene, it shows the Crabfeeder and what he does.
Nothing wrong either the small council scene. But Corlys should have called out Otto for his words. Something like "I am the Lord of Driftmark, married to a Targaryen Princess. It is you who is not the king's equal no matter the seat you occupy at his table" Another reaffirmation of him being married to Rhaenys but this could also hint to Otto's greed and how he plans to climb up the social ladder with Alicent.
Rhaenyra shouldn't suggest to send her, she should suggest to send Daemon and Rhaenys because they are adults and seasoned dragonriders.
But either way, this suggestion pisses off Otto who sends her to choose a new Kingsguard because he cannot control her.
Rhaenyra should know what to say when she is being presented with knights, she is the only princess other than Rhaenys, her education is important.
Her reasoning for choosing Cole is fine.
The scene between Alicent and Viserys is fine. We should remember that here Viserys is 29 (played by another actor) and Alicent 16 so she might not be against marrying him even if she doesn't do it for the reason her father wants her to do.
The Sept scene is nonsensical as fuck. Rhaenyra is obviously not a believer of the Seven and Alicent knows this given that they are friends.
The Alicent/Rhaenyra scene should take place under the weirwood tree they were studying under. It brings more significance to the tree if what you want is to remark their friendship.
They conversation is mostly fine if we ignore the religious part. They should also disscuss marriage. Like, Alicent is of age so Rhaenyra could say something like "I will find you a find husband that lives at court, so you don't have to leave me" and Alicent smiling at that.
The conversation of marriage to Laena with Corlys and Rhaenys is fine.
The conversation between Rhaenyra and Viserys during the dinner where he doesn't let her speak is fine too. It shows how little Viserys actually think as Rhaenyra as heir.
Given that Viserys doesn't have the illness in this, he would converse with Otto only about marrying Laena. Otto could manipulate him saying something like "I cannot imagine marrying again to someone I did not love, not after my lady wife" that sentence alone would have Viserys thinking about marrying Alicent.
Laena would have already claimed Vaghar so marrying her would actually be necessary to bring the biggest dragon into the fold.
Laena and Viserys could talk about Balerion, that would tell the general audience that Viserys had a dragon and he died.
Rhaenys and Rhaenyra's scene is dumb so we are taking it out.
Where the scene of Rhaenys and Rhaenyra is we should put one of Mysaria and Daemon where she tells him she is pregnant. Daemon would show how happy he is about and this will set up him stealing the egg.
A scene with Viserys and Alicent would be necessary to establish Viserys feeling something towards her and wanting to marry her. They could talk about Alicent's marriage she could say something like: "I have always seen myself married to someone I love. Foolish, I know" and he could say "It is not foolish" This would show that he wants to marry her. In this scene she could also give her the figurine that broke in their previous scene and his mind would be made.
The small council scene where they tell Viserys of Daemon stealing the egg is fine, except for the marriage to Mysaria so we are taking out that.
Viserys decides to be the one to retrieve the egg, and Otto goes with him to avoid any reconciliation between the brothers.
The scene where Otto is getting ready to go to Dragonstone and Alicent helps him should stay and he should aske her something like: "Don't you want to be queen?" And while Alicent doesn't desire that like her father she would like to be and she also likes Viserys. This would give Alicent a bit of ambition and personality.
The Dragonstone scene would go more like, Viserys arriving and facing Daemon and saying: "You either return the egg and your whore to where they came from or she dies"
Daemon would listen because the alternative is killing his brother and he doesn't want to.
A scene with Daemon saying goodbye to Mysaria and the baby would establish how important she is to him and would set up his disdain towards Viserys's later on.
Mysaria gets on the ship and later Daemon receives a letter saying that she lost the baby. Matt would have nailed an emotional scene of Daemon after this.
Another scene with Alicent and Rhaenyra doing anything would be very beneficial for their friendship. They could be readying or trying on jewelry or gowns and Alicent could be visibly conflicted.
Nothing wrong with the scene where Viserys chooses Alicent.
A confrontation of Rhaenyra and Alicent with Rhaenyra saying: "You betrayed me" and breaking the friendship.
Nothing wrong with Daemon's and Corlys's scene.
Other things
I think Corlys and Rhaenys should wear different type of clothing during the first part of season 1 to make understand that they are not that old.
Rhaenyra and Alicent should both wear more colour.

Corlys vs Viserys
Platonic
Concept (HCs)
This is a good pic due to their past with one another.... So here's your two dads/friends. Up to you. I wasn't entirely sure where to start so the pacing is a bit rocky...? You're a Targaryen. Hope it came out okay :(
Yandere! Platonic! Corlys Velaryon vs Viserys I Targaryen
Pairing: Platonic - Rivalry -> Sharing
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Manipulation, Rhaenys is an enabler, Rivalry, Westeros politics, Dubious companionship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having these two so fond of you is dangerous.
The Targaryens and Velaryons are two of the most powerful families in Westeros at the time Viserys and Corlys are around.
Corlys is one of the best seafarers, so the sea isn't safe for you.
In terms of Viserys, you're lucky he lost Balerion long ago, so he has no dragon to track you down.
You're close to both families due to political ties often making you meet them.
Maybe you're close to the Targaryen family in some way (Sibling or Child?).
This makes you close to Viserys, the amiable, kind, and diplomatic king.
You may meet Corlys through Rhaenys, the two families having to meet at times.
So, while you visit Rhaenys (Whom you are also close with), you share friendly chat with Corlys, her husband.
Corlys is different from Viserys, shrewd yet loyal and not minding violence.
This is how you become close to the two.
It would most likely be through blood and political ties.
Your close bond makes you experience the sea with Corlys and more diplomatic values with Viserys.
I imagine a rivalry would start due to the tension between the two.
Due to decisions made by the Targaryen family, Corlys has some spite.
Which only increases when you spend more time with the Targaryens than the Velaryons.
Viserys either doesn't pick up on it or ignores such tension.
He's too caught up in being around you, often asking for an opinion or watching over you.
The good news about you being a Targaryen is you have a dragon.
A dragon you often like to use to visit Rhaenys and Corlys, sometimes even against the word of Viserys.
Despite the tension between the two, they still care about you enough to not make too much of a fuss about it.
If anything your bond between them heals the tension a little bit since you travel between the two families so often for both diplomatic and personal matters.
Be you a child or sibling of Viserys, you often get along with the rest of your family.
Rhaenyra and you are often around and helping one another, much to Viserys's pleasure.
When you're with Corlys and Rhaenys you help them take care of Laena and Laenor.
Honestly, if anything you're sort of mending the two families in a way.
Until events make you unable to continue such visits.
With the death of Aemma, your mother/sister-in-law, and the issue of succession coming up once again... you spent less time with the Velaryons.
You were too focused on keeping the head of the Targaryen family in a good head space.
Viserys is naturally attached to you due to this while Corlys grows impatient with Rhaenys.
You probably even come up in conversation between Corlys and Daemon.
Daemon may even find the tension between his brother and Corlys amusing.
Do you even know how much you affect these two families?
Viserys probably doesn't let you participate in the three year long war Corlys and Daemon are battling in.
Your true place is in King's Landing to aid him, not flying a dragon in the Stepstones with his exiled brother and Corlys.
It's clear Viserys wants to keep you with him for comfort and to teach you to be peaceful.
He wants you fierce, yes, but you're better off beside him your birth place.
If you're a sibling, you're most likely his younger sibling.
If you're his kid, you're probably older than Rhaenyra but not in line for succession (Married off to another, perhaps?).
Viserys has such an attachment to you he ends up dictating what you do even when he doesn't mean it.
When he marries Alicent, he wants you to help with his other children.
All while Corlys is sending you letters or having Rhaenys visit you on Meleys to check on you.
In the same way that Corlys hates you being in King's Landing so often, Viserys hates you being in Driftmark for too long.
Corlys loves it when you visit to make chat
You're much younger than him due to the age difference of him and Viserys, yet he acts like a mentor of sorts.
He may not be the fondest of Viserys's decisions, but he enjoys you.
Viserys knows he shouldn't worry when Corlys has you... although that changes once he learns Corlys took you as backup for some sort of battle or quietly took you on a trip on the seas.
Their fights are usually verbal and diplomatic as Viserys is a very peaceful king.
When you're not around and they meet, you're brought up eventually...
Then bickering ensues as a maid informs you that the two have come to another disagreement.
The good thing is their rivalry is usually dealt through politics most of the time.
Both of them want to be the favorite and want the other to stop bringing it up.
Naturally you should stay with Viserys as your Targaryen.
Yet your power is useful in Driftmark due to your dragon.
Their views are conflicting which often brings them to fight again.
Corlys stays loyal to the king only because he's king after this.
In return he wants you to keep visiting Driftmark, even if Viserys hates the idea.
A rivalry between the two would only cause s larger rift between the two families.
Even the marriage between Rhaenyra and Laenor doesn't help.
The two would most likely share, reluctantly deep down inside.
Viserys knows he needs to play nice and solve this like a diplomat.
Corlys himself knows that, meaning their rivalry would go dormant once they agree to share you between the houses.
Luckily, this conflict will not lead to war...
But the king may lose his sea fleet and maybe even you if there's anymore disagreements.

Ignoring that Laena is their mother and Rhaenys treated them better because you want Daemon to seem like a good father when he’s not
I am aware that Laena is the biological mother of the twins. Here is what I say, as already explained in another post :
I'm not saying that we should completely put aside the fact that the twins are Laena's biological daughters and their Velaryon heritage, but the fact is that they are mostly characterized by the text of Fire and Blood as the children of Daemon, their only living biological parent, and that they simply have the names Targaryen, not Velaryon. And that, yes, Baela was literally the portrait of her father. So it seems ridiculous that the show seems to put aside the fact that the girls are Targaryens, and instead only seems to represent them as Velaryons and associates the girls mainly with Laena, or even Rhaenys, who again times, logically, cannot have as much influence on these girls as a grandmother, as their own father. Not in Westeros society. This is completely ridiculous. Father AKA Daemon who is completely sidelined in HOTD for his daughters. Which again is... stupid. Anyway, HOTD tries to be a feminist show, but completely fails on every point. It's distressing to see this in 2024.
And then sorry to disappoint you, but it's canon that Baela is a female version of Daemon in Fire and Blood. And Rhaenys never had any part in raising the twins either in Fire and Blood. And Daemon was never a bad father to the twins in Fire and Blood either.
And actually, there's no indication that he's a bad or horrible father in HOTD either, especially when we see Corlys, Otto, and Viserys in comparison. Sorry, but the single scene where Rhaena complains about being ignored by Daemon is not the ultimate proof in my eyes.
Especially when we know that the reason would be the lack of dragon and that... well with the character of Daemon who himself did not have a dragon before adolescence and even less of an egg of his own having hatched, and who has in fact studied the past of the Targaryen family which he admires very much, it doesn't make sense for him to ignore his daughter about this.
Rhaena's speech sounds mostly like that of any child with insecurities around siblings for me.
But whatever it is, the writers of this series seem to have a huge problem with the character of Daemon whom they constantly try to demonize.

“Aegon is a great example of neglect and indulgence. This is the medieval version of the millionaire’s prodigal son. His mother was fifteen, and his father never paid any attention to him. His father deeply, deeply loved Aemma and Rhaenyra and was [only] having [more] kids to carry on the line. He really didn’t want Aegon—he wanted Baelon, the son that killed his first wife.” - Ryan Condal

also i just have to say that viserys getting his ass up out of bed and walking down to the throne room even though he is barely even able to walk and is in excruciating pain just to defend his daughter and her succession that is being called into question is where he finally became a king of the realm and a king to be respected. also note that this was the first time that they didn’t show him getting cut on the throne

viserys was a coward, not stupid. he was well read and had really smart people counseling him. he knew what he was doing the entire time. he married alicent because he wanted her. he knew marrying leana was a better choice, he even verbally acknowledges that when talking to rhaenyra. he knew what he was doing to his own daughter when he neglected her, killed her mother, spent time with alicent knowing full well what otto was up to (another thing he verbally acknowledges when “firing” otto) and even tells her not to tell rhaenyra about their meetings and then marries alicent (his daughter’s best friend, therefore leaving rhaenyra completely isolated). he made rhaenyra his heir but barely talked about it for the rest of his life, never reinforcing his decision even after he had a son. he also never actually taught her or allowed her to do anything/make any decisions and when she tried to be active in the council, he shot her down. he never prepared her to rule, everything she learned was from his poor decision making. this idea that he was dumb or innocent is just another way of excusing him of the blame when, in fact, the entire dance is his fault.

Alicent being ignored as a parent during those first few years. Alicent being expected to take care of aegon, while also allowing Viserys to take him whenever he so pleased, to show off and pass around like a model toy. Alicent being denied her child whenever lords and ladies were around. Alicent only getting him back when she was at her wits end, stressed after being separated from him for so long, watching people hold him wrong, play with him wrong, touch him wrong. Alicent only getting him back when he is fussy and no longer a source of entertainment for Viserys and his guests. Alicent holding her baby close to her chest during outings or events, stiffening when people ask to see him, hesitant to release her grip on him. Alicent biting her tongue when people ask to "give her a break" when she really wants to tell them that it's her baby and she's perfectly capable. Alicent being so exhausted from guests and Aegon being so little and full of energy, and her second pregnancy, causing her to doze with Aegon in her arms, only to nearly lash out when someone tries to slip him from her arms, engulfing him in her arms as if to fend him from hungry wolves. Alicent carrying him around, even as she grows tired, her arms burning and back aching, so she knows he is safe, away from prying hands and acrid whispers, away from his father's attempts to use him for amusement purposes. Alicent feigning a smile, feigning composure and enjoyment, when really, she just wants to be home, in her chambers with her son, where no one can bother them, where they aren't props meant to smile and wave for a man who does not love them.
(inspired by this reblog of my post from earlier. cause yes, @squgs [hope you don't mind me tagging] is right, she would very much go to war for her baby)

I can’t believe what a point of contention this has become. I genuinely cannot understand the animosity towards it lol
Seriously post after post bitching and crying and begging for this to be destroyed - now besides how grossly disrespectful that would be to the stone masons who worked on this for years - it’s bizarre? I understand the criticism against Viserys (as a father, husband, King) but as a Targaryen - this endeavor is probably the most noble. So, while I see the childish thought process behind “smashing his legos” - come on be ffr.
The Doom of Valyria was catastrophic and while I’m hesitant to call it a “lost civilization” it is akin to the Atlantian mythology in nature and description. It’s not only the ancestral home of Houses Targaryen and Velaryon, but it was a major hub of magic, the most advanced city in the known world and likely the place of origin of the Faceless Men. The Doom is endlessly fascinating, from its predictions to the sheer cataclysmic scale of it all. I mean 14 volcanoes erupting at once would make Pompeiis explosion look like a candle to the sun.
Recreating Valyria by painstakingly pouring over texts to replicate what once was is a tragic echo that reverberates through generations. And for a fandom that shouts back and forth about “true Targaryen” definitions it seems most of those don’t care for that echo. The epic demise of a homeland filled with magic and dragons that are never to be seen again should be more than a foot note. A generational trauma that follows every Targaryen - the ever present fear that the Doom will swallow them too - down to Dany and her dragons which would have seemingly signified the return of magic long lost. How could any “true” Targaryen have anything but heartache over the loss of Valyria and the Freehold? How could they not be plagued with the weight on their shoulders that none in Westeros could truly sympathize with?
And I’ve long held a grudge against HBO for the way they mistreat Magic (and race, gender, sexuality, etc) in these fantasy series (no I’m never going to forgive them ESPECIALLY in HotD for not doing the CGI purple eyes [somehow Witcher had it in the budget AND it looked good] because of how much that trait was a distinctly other/outsider signifier) but this stupid little model is actually one of only additions I respect. Because while it can be viewed as some petty distraction for a physically deteriorating chronically ill history buff to get away from his kids - it is the biggest symbol of devotion to Targaryen culture - way more than anything else in the series. So I’ll die on this hill. The legos must be protected.
