Day 1: CHOCOLATE
Pairing: Nate x f!Detective (Berenice Bailey)
Warnings: None, this is pure fluff. I don't think there's even any swear words (which for me is weird). Also Berry is a nerd and Nate loves it because he's a nerd too.
Words: ~1.7k
A/N: So!!! I've decided to join this. I should post a one shot with each of the prompts everyday this month for Mason x Alice or Nate x Berry. Let's see if I can keep up 😉
☾ 一一一一一一一一一 ☽
Not an inch of the coffee table was visible under the blanket of books spread over it, open in pages that needed revision before she had traveled to the next one. Her notebook was full of scribbles and notes in different colors, highlighted bits in a bright yellow if it was something really important, unfinished information in green, false legends in blue and so on…
And sitting on the floor, her petite body folded almost impossibly, with her head resting against a behavioral guide of some mythological creature, was his girlfriend.
Nate was observing her with a soft smile on his lips, the sight both heartwarming and slightly amusing. She was snoring softly and the pages in front of her lips trembled slightly with every breath she exhaled. Her nose wrinkled every once in a while in a way she also did when she was awake - a habit he found utterly adorable - and the corners of her mouth curled upwards… the dream was pleasant, at least.
But that posture can not be good for her back and knees, Nate mused to himself, a mug of chocolate on each of his hands as he stood a few feet away from the table.
He had been patrolling and the best gift he could receive when he went back to the warehouse was the news that Berenice was in the library researching on her own. He had to refrain himself from going running to her and instead thought of bringing her some of her favorite beverage - hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Only to find her sleeping deeply over his books.
He left the mugs on the floor for a moment before gently removing a raven strand of hair from her freckled face, placing it behind her ear tenderly.
If Berenice could see how he was looking at her - she could barely be able to believe someone could hold such warmth in only a gaze. He whispered her name in the silent library, as if it was a secret which had to stay among the books for no one else to discover.
But she jolted awake with a jump and an exclamation.
"Wolpertinger!" She yelped, bright blue and brown eyes blinking unfocused, a mark on her cheek where she had been resting it against a book. Nate stifled a laugh at her alarmed expression as her eyes fell on him, cheeks quickly warming.
"Oh? Is that my new pet name?"
She groaned and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, proceeding then to stretch her arms as far as they could go up and behind her head, and Nate watched attentively every motion, dark eyes drinking in the sight of her slightly disheveled.
"Don't tell me I drooled over the books." She spoke, voice thick with sleep sending a delicious thrill through him, as she scanned the pages of the books she had used as a pillow. "Thank God." She muttered to herself, checking there was no harm done, and turned her face to Nate, more awake now. A wide smile instantly lit up her face at the handsome features she had come to adore. "Hi."
"Hello." Nate answered, and the pair of them let the moment linger for some seconds, eyes locked and smiles firmly planted in their lips. Their relationship was still so new, so exciting, and still so little moments had been shared, this felt like a blessing. Nate was the first to snap from the trance. "I brought you something."
She perked up, curiosity all over her features as he presented her the mug of hot chocolate. The rich smell of it instantly invaded her nostrils and she all but moaned, hands enveloping the warm ceramic.
"Thank you so much. You read my mind."
"Let's move to the couch, shall we?" Nate offered her a hand and she took it, the familiar spark lighting up her nerves at his touch making her smile widen.
They settled on the couch side to side, his arm falling over her back to surround her almost absentmindedly, bringing her closer. She sighed with satisfaction and stared at her drink.
"So many marshmallows. You're my knight in shining armor." She took the first sip as Nate grinned at her, happily watching the joy this simple gesture had brought to her features.
"Anytime, beautiful." He replied, squeezing her the slightest bit.
Berenice got comfortable, throwing her legs over his lap to turn her torso towards him more easily, the look on her eyes silently asking if it was okay, the pressure of his lips against her forehead a better answer she could have ever hope for.
"What were you researching? Are there wolpertingers in the Wayhaven forest now?" He asked with a hint of amusement on his smile. She snorted softly before taking a big gulp of chocolate.
"I was investigating how many myths repeat themselves in different countries and cultures and the differences between them." He could see in her face that innate thirst for knowledge she had, something he found incredibly attractive. "I want to create a database with all of them so we can go through it faster when we need it. A software with a collection of all the names and characteristics that had been assigned to the same creature over the years. Maybe also link them to the historic period they were first discovered? And a list of the myths that are not true? Hmm." She reached out for her notebook and a pen and started writing quickly her new ideas, leaving it on the table and looking back at Nate, who was staring at her with something akin awe in his face. She started talking faster. "I know you don't like technology, so it'll be really easy to navigate and completely encrypted so it can only be accessed from a computer in particular. I have one to spare at home and I thought, maybe, I could install it here? I would only need a corner, I know the library is your favorite place and I don't want to spoil it for you but… I'm rambling, aren't I?" She let out a breath sheepishly, hurrying herself to drink some of her chocolate, hands slightly shaky due to excitement and anxiety.
His big hands engulfed her smaller ones around her mug, the heat of it warming them both.
"You're brilliant, do you know that?" He asked softly, watching how her entire demeanor relaxed at his words. "I want to share everything I have with you. And that includes this place."
She took the last sip of the chocolate and left the mug on the floor, turning to him with a small frown. "I just don't want you to feel forced to it. I thought it would be nice to do the research together, maybe? I would do all the data dump in the software, but I need to recollect the data before I do that."
"Like a side project? Only the two of us?"
His earnest smile gained him a matching one from her. "Yeah! It will be a lot of work, but I could learn so much. And you, too, if you wanted I could teach you about the software as I create it!"
Technology was still incredibly frustrating for the vampire, but for her, he would sure as hell try. The excitement in her features so intoxicating he would have agreed to practically anything she had asked.
"I would love to."
"Really?" The question was slightly breathless.
"Really."
She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, knocking him backwards in surprise, his back against the couch and his girlfriend practically on his lap.
"I can come here after work every day, and on the weekends we can use the mornings and then have the afternoons free." She spoke, her breath hitting his neck and making his heartbeat quicken. She pulled back slightly until they were nose to nose.
"And what would we use the afternoons for, I wonder?" His voice had dropped an octave and she swallowed, eyes falling to his lips before going back to those gentle ones of him.
"I'm open to ideas." She retorted, licking her lips and making his focus snap to her mouth. He moved softly forwards, giving her time to stop him. When she leaned in as well, he lost no time in capturing her lips with his.
Berenice groaned almost instantly, one hand taking the nape of his neck, the other tracing his jawline with a featherlight touch. His fingers grasped her hips firmly, digging into her flesh hard enough to let her know how much he wanted her, not enough to hurt her.
"Nate…" she sighed against his mouth, and he traced her bottom lip with his tongue, a growl forming deep inside his chest at the sweetness of her lips.
"Gods, Berry…" he pulled her even closer, chests pressing against each other, breaths quickening. "You taste like chocolate."
She giggled against his lips, the sound more enticing than a siren's song. He couldn't help but smile, their lips still touching.
"I'm gonna request for more chocolate kisses if we're going to spend so much time together." She pecked his lips one more time before pulling back, licking her lips with her neck and ears flushed red.
"I'll give you everything you want, Berry." Their eyes met and she could see the honesty there.
"What a dangerous thing to say."
"And still so true."
She got up from the couch and stood between his spread legs, his hands coming to rest at the sides of her knees. He looked up at her, for a change, her 5 foot 2 towering over him for a moment. Her soft hands took his face, thumbs brushing his cheekbones before she leaned down, his hands unconsciously traveling upward to the back of her thighs.
"Then, Nate…" her breath hit his mouth, her lips brushed his so softly it could have been his imagination. He could only see the uneven colors of her eyes, drowning in them, his breathing hitching. "Help me put the books back."
And she was gone, only the smell of chocolate and her apricot shampoo surrounding him. He let out a huff and she giggled, it was nice to be the one doing the teasing for a change.
"What a mean girlfriend I have." He shot her a grin, getting up and helping her collect the books.
"Let's put these in their place and I'll show you how good I can be."
He watched her march towards the shelves with a raised eyebrow.
He had never moved so fast.

28 dates with Unit Bravo - Day 7 prompt from @wayhavenmonthly: Pain
Rating: Mature Pairing: Morgan/Male OC (Tanner Drake) Word Count: 1159 Warnings: Some cursing, references to sex
--
Morgan can handle physical pain. Not quite as well as she has people convinced she can, but it needs to be bordering on agonising to really slow her down too much.
Somehow though, something inside of her aches as she watches Tanner heading for the door of the bar, his arm slung around some random girl's shoulders. Tall, blonde, legs for days as the saying goes. Not the most attractive human Morgan's ever laid eyes on, she's sure to point that much out to herself. But then she doubts that Tanner's going to be paying much attention to the woman's face tonight. Not that any of that has anything to do with the painful throb radiating through her body. She can't even tell exactly where it hurts, only that it almost takes her breath away.
And she doesn’t understand it at all.
It only gets worse when the pair stop before they reach the door and Tanner leans in to speak into the girl's ear before slowly kissing over her neck, his hands roaming all over her lower back and ass.
She wants to look away but she can't, for some reason unknown to her she's hyper focused on his hands and his face and the way he pulls the girl's hips against his before they turn and head out into the night, disappearing from her view.
If breathing were necessary for her she feels that she may have passed out by now, every single breath catching in her throat and making the pain worse. She's even worried for a split second that she's about to do something stupid. Like crying. This random pain is that bad.
And she still doesn't know why. Maybe she's sick somehow. Maybe-
"Are you alright?" Nate's voice breaks her out of her dazed state and she snaps her attention over to him with a frown.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Tanner just left with a girl," he points out, gesturing towards the door. As though that explains anything.
"And?"
"Well, I thought you and Tanner-"
"Fucked," she interrupts before he can suggest that they're an actual couple like Farah insists on constantly doing, "we fucked."
He nods, apparently trying to look sympathetic, she guesses. But she swears she can see a glimmer of ironic amusement in his eyes.
"More than once," he offers, the way he's talking making it seem as though he's trying to imply something.
"Yeah, he's good in bed," she answers with a shrug, her tone suggesting it should be obvious and giving him a confused look before glancing back towards the door despite herself.
They're still gone.
As though there was a chance Tanner had changed his mind and come back. As though she even wants him to change his mind and come back. Because why the hell would she want that? Why does she care who he screws? She inwardly confirms to herself what she already knows - she doesn't care - and then downs the rest of her beer before getting to her feet.
The movement draws the attention of Adam and Farah as well, all three of them now looking at her in apparent surprise at the possibility of her leaving early and alone.
Farah's eyes scan the bar before realisation dawns on her face and she hurriedly stands up as well. "Are you leaving? I'll come with you."
Morgan hesitates, brow furrowing further at Farah, "why would you do that?"
"I just thought…" Farah trails off, glancing in Nate's direction with uncertainty before continuing, "I thought you might not want to be alone."
Morgan just shrugs, pulling her jacket from where she's draped it over the back of her chair and shrugging it on as she turns and heads for the door.
Maybe Tanner's still outside. Maybe he changed his mind after all. Or, what if he's just still out there making out with the girl he'd left with? What if he's got her up against the wall just around the corner away from the street lights. He'd do something like that, she's sure of it.
But what the hell is she thinking? Why does she care?
She doesn't. Let him fuck some bimbo out in the open, in the freezing cold. Some ugly bimbo, at that. Ugly and giggling and stupid, not his type and no good for him at all.
What the hell is wrong with her?
"I didn't realise you liked him that much," she'd almost forgotten Farah was beside her, and she scoffs at the entirely incorrect observation before lighting a cigarette.
"Who?" she knows who, but if she admits that she knows Farah will take it as confirmation that it's true.
"Tanner."
"He wishes I liked him at all."
"Well you must like him a little," Morgan glares over at her and Farah shrugs, a tiny smirk playing on her lips. "I think you like him a bit more than a little though."
"You think wrong," Morgan replies dryly, confusion washing over her again when the mention of his name forces into her head images of what he might be doing with the girl right now and the ache hits her again.
This time it's very obviously in her chest, squeezing at her heart and making her lungs feel heavy.
Can vampires have heart attacks? Asthma attacks? What on earth is happening to her?
"You sure?" Farah pushes, dragging an irritated growl from the back of Morgan's throat.
"I think I'd know."
"Would you, though?"
"Yeah."
"But would you really?" Farah's full on grinning at her when she looks back over, though the cheer or entertainment or whatever has gotten into her doesn't seem to be catching on.
"If you have something to say, just say it."
"I just did."
The conversation draws to a close at that. Morgan doesn't even know what Farah's implying, let alone know how to respond to it.
The whole night has given her a headache, so much so that as quickly as she drops her finished cigarette to the ground there's another between her lips and she's lighting up again.
She hadn't wanted to go out anyway, but she didn't fancy hanging about the warehouse on her own either. Then the nauseating sight that was Nate and Lucas fawning over each other until Tina had dragged the detective away, and then Tanner had shown up.
And now? Now she's getting sick somehow, or her heart's giving out, or whatever this stupid, sporadic chest pain means. And the only way Farah can think to help her is to speak in riddles about Tanner fucking Drake.
She's done, and the sooner she can get back to her room and ignore it all the better. She might even try to sleep tonight despite not having been tired in the slightest earlier in the evening. And hopefully when she wakes up (providing her heart or lungs don't stop functioning overnight, of course) this irritating pain in her chest will be gone.

Day 28: Soulmate
I know it’s super late, but thankfully I was able to get it out.
So, I only have one detective (Lucas) that I use for Nat’s, Morgan’s, and Farah’s routes. (I’m not ready to put him through Ava’s route just yet.) I will be writing for all three vamps romance though. Special thanks to my editor @moonberry-chieenne for giving me the main idea for this prompt. Hope you enjoy!
Title: Soulmate
Pairing: Nat x Lucas Langford
Warnings: None, just pure fluff
Sunlight creeps into the bedroom, the rays aimed directly at Lucas’ eyes. He blinks a few times before turning to the person in his bed. Stretching, he reaches over to plant a kiss on Nat’’s head, a gesture that earns him a warm smile.
“Good morning Lucas,” Nat says tenderly. Lucas lies back down on the bed, nestling into her side. She smiles at that too, the carefree intimacy he’s shared with her since they started dating. Some might call it clingy, but Nat finds it adorable. It’s been 300 years. She deserves a cuddle.
Lucas takes her arm and nuzzles it to his chest. “I hope you know I am going to make the best use of this free cuddle time that I can. You never know when someone else is going to try to kidnap me.”
Nat frowns at that. “Lucas, you know I don’t like when you joke about what happened with Murphy. It reminds me of how I… I mean we failed you.”
“Nat, if you failed me, would I be here right now?”
She frowned even more, and Lucas realizes with glee that he’s made the composed woman pout. “No, you wouldn’t be here.”
“Exactly. Now come here.” He wraps his arms around her middle, and she flips onto her side, snuggling closer to him. Their foreheads touch and she lets out a sigh. It’s hard to recall the last time she was this happy. Content to be in someone else’s arms. They finally break the moment and flop onto their backs, still close.
She lets her gaze wander down to his legs, when she notices something new. A small mark, on the outer side of his thigh.
I learn something new about him every day.
She smiles at the thought, and brushes her fingers on the spot. “What’s this?” she asks.
Lucas glances down at her fingers. “Gonna be honest, not what I thought you were going for, there.” He grins at her, receiving another warm smile. “It’s a birthmark. Nothing too special about it, I usually cover it up with the board shorts anyway. It is heart shaped, which would explain why I am such a master in the art of romance,” He says, rolling his r’s.
Nat continues to stare at the mark, memories flashing into her mind.
“Uh, hey Nat. Not that I mind you staring at my legs, but are you ok?”
His voice draws her out of her reminiscing, and she turns to face him. “Sorry, that mark just reminds me of this case we did once. We were working alongside a group of Fae, and they let me ask them questions about their culture. It was… fascinating.”
Lucas smirked. “You’re so cute when you’re sharing facts.”
“May I continue?”
“Of course.”
“When two fae mated, they put this mark on each other, to show to the whole world that they were soulmates. And that birthmark looks shockingly like their mark.”
“That’s really cool actually. Man, you should tell me supernatural stories more often!”
Nat smiled, although she knew it didn’t really meet her eyes. “Sadly, I’m not proud of all of my stories.” She closed her eyes for a moment, opening them when she felt Lucas’ hand on her cheek.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?”
She looks at him, at the honesty in his eyes. “I know, Lucas.” Her heart is seizing. The mark has brought a question to her mind, one that she is surprisingly anxious to ask.
“Do you believe in soulmates, Lucas?”
Lucas leans up at the question, resting his back against the headboard. Putting a fist under his chin, he stares into space for a few moments. Nat awaits his answer with bated breath. She doesn’t know why exactly, she’s so nervous, but she is. Finally, he opens his mouth to respond.
“I wouldn’t say that I do, exactly. I mean, yeah it would be awesome if there was this one perfect person for you. But, no one person is ever going to be perfectly compatible with you. I think you can be with a lot of people and be perfectly happy.” He turns his gaze back to her. “But, if there were I wouldn’t complain.”
They hold each other’s gaze for a few seconds. Nat feels like she might explode. Thankfully, he decides to lean back onto her, letting Nat set her chin on his head.
“Hey, what if we got one of those couple tattoos? I could cover up the birthmark with an actual heart, and we could put each other’s names in them.” He says.
“Are you sure? What if we…”
Lucas turns around and puts a finger to her lips. “Nat, I think we both know this is a long term thing. I want to be with you, and trust me, nothing is going to change that.” He leans in and presses a soft kiss to her lips, smiling at her.
She can't help herself. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kisses him with a bit more intensity, trying to communicate just how much his words mean to her.
He leans back, panting slightly. “You know, it isn’t a competition right?”
She copies his smirk. “Oh yes it is, dear. And you’re losing.” Then, she’s pulling him back in.
And with that, Cuddle Time unceremoniously ended.

Roundabout part 2
Happy valentine's day!
Prompt from @wayhavenmonthly
Day 14: Valentines.
Rating : G
Words : 1195
Characters : Tina Poname, Lumine Booker (Detective) , Farah Hauville, Natalie Sewell
Pairing : Nat x Lumine
Notes : I will drop this self-indulge, and go. But, if you have any questions about my detectives or advice for me, please don't hesitate to chat.
“What~ I didn’t catch that. Lumine, can you repeat?”, Tina gives a wide grin as she asks for the third time. Gritting their teeth, Lumine glares at her.
“I need help.”, they grumble.
“For?”, she asks, leaning closer than before.
“Valentines”
A high- pitched squeal erupts from her as she twists and turns around. Her eyes sparkle at the thought of Lumine finally asking as she rambles, “Oh, I know. You should wear a suit and bring flowers and chocolates, or you can bring her on a dinner date too. You can play the piano, right? You can serenade her. It’ll be so perfect. You guys would be such a cute couple.”
“Ah, right. Very helpful advice, Tina...”, Lumine stands from their seat and nods, “Well then, I’ll go ask Verda instead.”
Before they could leave the room, she pulls them back, “I’m just kidding with you, Lumine.” As they plop back to their chair, she shoots a question," For starters, what does she like?".
Their face scrunches up in thought.
Nat is never the type to talk about herself. Dodging the question when presented. Always directing it back at them. A mystery yet-
“I-I’m not sure.”, Lumine stammers, “It’s hard to tell.”
" That's rare. You usually have a say on people. ", Tina comments. The station alarm rings. The night shift is starting.
“I need to go.”, they grab their coat and make their way to the entrance.
“Hey, Lumine”, she calls “We’ll figure it out. Don’t worry too much.”
“Ye... see you tomorrow.”, they mutter, still occupied by their thoughts. Walking out of the station, they’re pulled from their mind by a familiar voice.
“Good evening, Lumine.”, Nat smiles. These meetings become a regular occurrence, yet her words instantly bring a smile to their face. They walk side by side, slowly gravitating towards each other. Shoulders barely touching. Like puzzle pieces, Natural.
" Isn’t patrolling the same places boring to you?”, they ask as their eyes shift around the surroundings.
“The scenery is beautiful, but with you, everything around me is brought anew”, her smile grows, but dims with a pang of disappointment, “Unfortunately, I have been requested to be at the Facility.”
“For how long?” The words rush out their mouth.
Her brows furrow to think before she answers. “Likely, a week”
Then she wouldn’t be back till the night before Valentine. This makes planning easier, but a week is too long for her to be gone...
They shake away the errant thought before it escalates.
“Lumine?”, Nat questions, concerned.
They reply with a little tint of pink on their cheeks, “It’s nothing.”
“If you’re certain…” Luckily, she doesn’t probe them further. She clasps her hands together, and asks, “When I come back, would you care to go somewhere together?”
“Like a date?”, the thought makes their smile grow. “It depends on the workload. But I’d like to sometime.”
Her expression brightens, “I will look forward to it.”
Lumine glances up at Nat’s smile. Her gaze meets theirs. A kind warmth surrounds them. This rush so unusual thrums in their chest.
Barely noticing their arrival to the apartment, Lumine blinks out of the trance and steps away from her. They clear their throat, “This is my stop."
She grasps Lumine’s hand and slowly pulls it up to her lips. Planting a soft kiss on their fingers, Nat’s smile curves further to an unfair smirk, “Rest well, Lumine.”
Fully combusting to red, Lumine quickly retracts their hand and shoves it into their coat. “Y-you too, Nat. Well, I will go now. Good night.”, they stammer before closing the door. Unable to remove the grin on their face, they can guess that Nat is stifling her laughter outside.
Each day after the other yields nothing. Every single plan created by Tina doesn’t feel like what Nat would want to do. This only tangles them in their mind. Leaving the station, they are greeted by a bright grin.
“Heya!”, Farah pops out of nowhere. Lumine nods in reply as they start to walk towards the apartment. They concentrate on their problem, leaving her in unbearable silence. She purses her lips before figuring out what’s happening.
“You’re that deep for her, huh.”, Farah pipes up.
They release a weak laugh, “Is it that obvious that I’m thinking of her?”
Farah’s grin and shining eyes that clearly say yes. Slowly to a stop, Lumine frowns in thought as they lift their hand to their lips. The thoughts of her fill their head. Their heart flutters. They can’t run from this feeling, not anymore.  Lumine asks, “Got any advice for Valentines?”
“Just be yourself.”, she replies with a shrug, “Love shouldn’t be difficult, especially when Natkins is deep for you too. "
Lumine freezes for a moment as they whisper curse to themselves. A light chuckle escapes from them.
The answer is simple.
They release a sigh and settle to a bright grin, “Thanks, Farah!”
“No biggie! We’re family, after all.”, she gives a triumph smile strained with confusion.
As Lumine dash back to the station, they call out to her, “Come with me. I need to ask Tina for something. I’ll even treat you to some popcorn."
The day finally comes. Nat arrives at the warehouse and soaks in the comforting air. Being in the facility, she longs for home, for them. Knowing that they would be asleep, she strides to her room before pausing to a familiar beat.
The sound of them makes Nat smile. she listens out for where it comes from before arriving at the library. Opening the door, she peers into the room, “Lumine?”
“Right on time.”, they move from their seat while nodding towards the clock. Following their gaze, Nat spots the Oak grandfather clock as it chimes.
“Happy Valentines’ Day, Natalie”, they say as her eyes widen in surprise. Standing in front of her, Lumine gives Nat a black box with a red tulip pinned in front. “It’s 70% dark chocolate. It goes well with Earl Grey.”
They eye Nat for her reaction but is only met with silence. Lumine rubs their neck and excuses, “I don’t know if you’ll like it simple. Couldn’t think of another way to-”
Nat tugs them to an embrace. They stiffen for a moment before relaxing. Nat pulls away to gaze at theirs. She lightly brushes her hand on their cheek as she smiles, “It’s lovely, Lumine.”
Enjoying her touch, Lumine sighs. This closeness they have. Holding their gaze, Nat smirks and Lumine seem to notice.
“What’s wrong?”
“You never fail to be captivating.”, she says with a playful tone.
They scoff, “Flatterer.”
“J’adore ton sourire.”
“You know, changing the language won’t make a difference.”, they chuckle.
Letting out a light giggle, she leans in to whisper, “I apologize, but it seems like the words rush out before I could comprehend it. "
Growing red, they bury their head on her shoulder, as their goofy grin starts to form. The heat crawls up their cheeks. Their heart thunders out of their chest.
Everything is different around her.
They still have so much to know about her, but there is one thing they do know.
“Hey, Nat.”, they murmur on her shoulder.
“Hm?”
“I love you.”

Day Two | Interruption | adam x f!detective
SOOOO I’m late but here is the prompt for @wayhavenmonthly ‘s 28 Dates with Unit Bravo
Summary: The detective and Adam have a private reunion after a long away mission. Rating: T (just some kissing and ~implications~) Pairing: Adam du Mortain x Louisa Bardot
He was staring. The fact proven by the fourth time Lou looked up to find Adam’s eyes level with her own from across the room. His jaw visibly flexed, his throat moving as he swallowed thickly. Even at this distance, something crackled and flickered between them, barely contained.
Lou could feel her pulse racing, her stomach churning with sheer excitement until she almost felt her arms shake from it. Adam’s fingers curled into the sleeve of his shirt, no doubt as attuned to the sound of her heartbeat as she was.
Adam and his team had been gone for approximately a month and a half. 54 days. 1,296 hours, 77,760 minutes. Every additional one that ticked on as the debriefing continued only extended his absence, not from her presence, but from her.
Rebecca finished up with a nod, dismissing the Unit as she gathered up the files and made her way from the room in a distracted haze Rebecca was known for entering when there was work to be done. Morgan, in a rare form, was quick to stalk out of the warehouse living space with Farah in tow. Farah normally would have resisted such manhandling, or at least had a witty remark about it… but instead she winked at Lou as they passed, giving her a knowing grin. Lou returned the smile nervously, her eyes flicking between the departing agents and Adam.
He hadn’t moved from where he leaned, arms crossed against the far wall, but Lou could see every fiber of him was poised to do so. Waiting. Patient.
Nate was the last out of the room, giving Lou a quick hug. She held on, letting him get in an actual good squeeze so he knew she was happy to have him back as well… just… differently. Nate’s smile was soft and knowing as he they parted and he left the room, shutting the door behind him.
The doorknob clicked and Lou turned towards Adam— a gasp bursting from her lips as he crossed the space of the room in a flicker and crowded her up against the door. Whatever words he might have said were cut off immediately by her kiss, turning the sound of his voice into a soft groan that reverberated and rumbled through his chest.
She ran her hands up the front of his shirt, grabbing a fistful of the material as she pulled him closer, her lips trailing across his smooth jaw. His skin was soft and he smelled so good—did he shave? He must have shaved. The thought vanished from her mind as Adam’s hands slid down her waist. On the trail back he let one slipped beneath her shirt, trailing across her lower back until his finger tips could draw down the dip of her spine. The other? Reached behind them to lock the door.
“Missed you… missed you so much.” Lou murmured into his skin, feeling his lips brush gently over her shoulder and up her neck. The sensation ticklish from the warmth of his breath.
Adam’s hand left the warm skin of her back, earning a slight sound of protest from her. He drew her arms up to wrap around his neck, and she held so tightly she lifted unto her tiptoes.
“Stay tonight, stay here…” Adam said lowly, pressing another slow gentle kiss against her lips. When they parted, he pressed his forehead against hers, “… I do not want to say goodnight.”
Lou nodded, rapid and wordlessly, parting her lips into his next kiss and moaning quietly when his tongue brushed against her own. Adam moved to set her upright again and Lou locked her arms insistently around his neck.
“Again.”
He chuckled, leaning close to press a brief kiss against her lips. He drew back and Lou followed, lips parted and her voice breathless.
“Again.”
“Louisa,” Adam said, the scolding tone nearly imperceptible beneath the sheer affection. It wasn’t about desire, or need, but of want. Lou wanted him. In her life, in her thoughts. She wanted him close, as close as two people could possibly get.
Adam had to know her intentions. It was obvious by the way his pupils had blown open, dark and wide, engulfing the icy green of his gaze. And the look in them was enough to tell Lou he wanted that too.
The door handle rattled.
Before Lou even had a chance to give a start she felt herself being swiftly moved, placed behind Adam with the quickest of motions. His breath came sharp, his first instinct to protect her from threat. She muffled a laugh into his back, kissing a spot between his shoulder blades as Adam huffed but ultimately eased.
“Agent Bardot forgot a file.” Adam said, his voice a strained grating sound, clearly hearing the conversation outside the door that Lou could not. He seemed at a loss, desperately not wanting to unlock the door for her mother given their er— situation.
“Go on… I’ll take care of it.” Lou said, nodding towards the door on the other end of the room. She trailed around him and pressed one last kiss against his arm as she moved passed.
He caught her hand in his, the expression he wore could almost be mistaken for a pout if the commander was capable of such a thing.
“You will… are you… can I expect you?”
“Yes, now go on Agent du Mortain. That’s an order.” Lou said with a faint giggle, enjoying the way he smirked at her choice of words. She would be more than happy to be made to regret them later. He drew her hand up to his lips and pressed a kiss to the back of her knuckles before vanishing in rapid, imperceptible movement.

Day 18: Bakery
28 dates with Unit Bravo
@wayhavenmonthly
This is part 1 of Regret
I'm joining y'all in writing shit about the bakery scene 😭
Summary: Cherie and Mason both have done things they regret. This time, it may have gone too far.
pairing: Cherie x Mason
words: ~600
warning: needles, kidnapping
Idk who to tag for this haha @smalltowndetective @pearlsandsteel
"She wishes she was seeing me naked. That's the only thing going on here."
She blinked, once. Twice.
It shouldn't have hurt anymore, not when it was the hundreth time. But somehow, it stung worse than ever, and panic rose in her throat. She'd always been able to eventually get over her feelings before, so what was different now?
You've fallen. For him.
No.
It wasn't possible. Sure, she loved him, but not like that! She wasn't in love with him.
...Was she? It would certainly explain how his words repeated in her head like a nauseating chant, making her wish to never have hoped. Because--
He didn't love her. He didn't. Nobody ever really had, why would Mason of all people be the exception?
Because you want him to be. But hope never fixed her problems; rather, it seemed to create them. Hope that people would change to something they weren't. Be the one she saw in her dreams. They never did.
She was still staring at him, wishing for this to be a dream. Wishing to be able to dismiss it as a horrible nightmare, and not the cold truth of day. He didn't look back.
There. You've got it. The final stab wound. If you still keep on trying, that's on you.
Tears stung her eyes, threatening to fall. You really don't need that embarrassment too, today. Don't let them see.
She was stuck between not wanting him to see how much he actually affected her, and being angry that he so carelessly didn't notice what he did to people. He doesn't care about it, anyway. Don't bother.
Forcing her face into a somewhat neutral expression, she hastily stood up to pack her things, daring a single glance at Mason only to see he wouldn't even look near her. Figures. "I have to go."
Haley regarded them both with shock, but Cherie didn't notice, everything drowned out by despair and hurt. A little bit of anger that she tried to channel to cover up the other emotions. He didn't deserve to make her feel bad.
Just before she left, she heard a muffled "Shit-" that almost made her stop in her tracks.
No. He doesn't get to do that, make you hesitate about having some freaking respect for yourself, for once.
Steeling her heart, she closed the door behind her with more restraint than she felt, if only to spare Haley from being collateral damage.
She didn't get farther than a few steps, though, before stopping and just barely resisting from throwing her fist into the wall. Do not cry.
Oh, she was pathetic. It wasn't like he'd ever pretended to want anything more than what she'd rejected, anyway.
Suddenly she heard the door opening again, letting someone out that she most likely did not want to talk with. Before whoever it was could stop her, she hurried to her car and tried to leave the place and what just happened behind her.
She didn't succeed. The words repeated in her head, refusing to leave. Sighing, she redirected her course from the warehouse. Adam would throw her all too understanding looks, and her fragile heart couldn't take that right now.
She got out in the middle of the forest, tapping away a quick message to the aforementioned man, not because she particularly felt like it, but so that he couldn't complain about her being careless.
A branch snapped behind her. She turned around, but it was already too late as a syringe found her arm and made the world fall away.

2, 10, 28 for the oc ask please? 💕
Am I about to do these for all of my detectives? Yes :)
Thank you for the ask! I love getting them from you! ❤
Questions Link here
2-  Is your OC picky about food? What kinds of foods do they like and dislike? What do they consider a comfort or “safe” food?
10. Who’s the first person your OC goes to to talk about something that made them happy? Sad? Angry?
28. What’s your favorite thing about this OC?
(And I’m going to put all of this under the cut because I can’t shut up about my detectives haha. Really, I wrote some essays under this)
2-  Is your OC picky about food? What kinds of foods do they like and dislike? What do they consider a comfort or “safe” food?
Thea Holland (Felix)- I don’t Thea is overly picky about food at all, really. But she is not a risk taker by any means, so I do see her being a little hesitant about trying anything too out there, but with friends especially, I can see her giving it a shot. For foods that she likes, Thea is a vegetarian, but I do see her liking veggie lasagna and other things similar. And for dislikes, she is really not a fan of mushrooms in any way haha. But for comfort food, I’m probably going to go with homemade pizza. It is something that I think Thea and Tina would have made together over the course of their friendship, so I think it really means a lot to her.
Pearl Reid (Nate)- In complete opposite to Thea, Pearl is very much a risk taker, the wilder the better (Poor Nate haha) So, she is not picky at all, and it does not take much for her to try new things. For food that she likes, since I do Wayhaven being a seaside town, I think she does really like seafood, crab cakes specifically. There is not much that she dislikes really when it comes to food, at least nothing that comes to mind off the top of my head. But with comfort food, Pearl absolutely loves to bake. She’ll bake just about anything, but one thing that she loves to bake is crepes. (Her and Haley are such good friends because of this) She likes being able to make people smile, and this is her way of doing so.
Natasha Trexler (Adam)- You thought Thea wasn’t a risk taker? Natasha is even worse. In fact, I don’t think she eats steak from anything else besides well done because of it. Natasha likes her routine, her normalcy, and she does not like when that is ruined, and that kind of bleeds over to the food as well. Natasha is not the best cook, but she knows how to, to avoid eating out every single night. For food that she likes, beef  bourguignon comes to mind, and it is something that she will make for herself. And due to her overall pickiness, she isn’t a fan of a whole list of food, but oysters top that list for sure. But for comfort food, she does like sweets very much, but she does sometimes indulge in a shortbread.
Mariana “Mari” Gonzales (Mason)- Mari is very much “we got one life” kind of person, so she does not let any experience pass by her. Thus, not very picky either (though she does have some pretty specific comfort food) For food that she likes, since Mari’s father is from Spain, paella valenciana tops pretty high on the list of something that she definitely likes. And while this is not technically food, Mari is not a fan of wine at all, preferring beer or whisky over it. For comfort food, however, panellets come to mind. There are something that she makes sometimes, even with not normally cooking at home, and it is quite special to her.
10. Who’s the first person your OC goes to to talk about something that made them happy? Sad? Angry?
Thea- Okay, the fact that Thea is going to anyone at all is a big thing, because she normally assumes that other people don’t want to hear about herself. (She has several sad backstory reasons for this) As open as she is, and as much as she wears her heart on her sleeve, she’s still pretty hesitant about herself. But you bet, especially that her and Felix are dating, she’ll probably start slowly coming to him for everything on her mind. It’ll be a bit slow at first, but she’ll slowly start to let herself open up to him. But even if Felix is the first person she’d turn to, who’s the next? And I still can’t decide who to make her best friend in Unit Bravo, but for some reason, for things that make her happy, I could see her going to Mason? Who would probably not seem that thrilled on the outside, but I do think that Thea coming to him of all people in the first place means a lot to him. Now, for sadness, as close as she is to her mother, she doesn’t want to bother her with her own feelings especially, so she’d probably shy away from telling her. I do see her going to Nate, since how much of a good listener that he is. But, Thea is incredibly preceptive, even if that is not obvious when meeting her, and she can tell when Nate is deflecting and holding something back himself. It almost makes her feel closer to him it that way, because they both tend to do the same thing. For anger, I would really like to meet the person who can make Thea angry, because woah, that’s kind of impressive. Thea didn’t even get mad at Adam at all in Book 1, and even is kind to Bobby, even if he (truthfully) doesn’t deserve it. Anger is not the first emotion that she goes to in any situation, so who would she go to? Hard to say, but most likely Felix.
Pearl- Pearl appears pretty open, but she’s not overly so with some parts of herself. Nate does make her want to show those parts of herself with him, while also noticing his own walls, and part of her hopes that by sharing those parts, he’ll feel comfortable enough one day to talk about them with her. But when she is happy? Pearl is super close to Verda, being science pals, so I could see her going to him first when anything goes right in her life. He takes her sarcasm in stride, and she is very appreciative of that. Felix would probably be a close second, especially if she is excited about something, because she knows that’ll be just as excited with her right back. Sad? The obvious choice would be Nate, for several reasons, and even though Pearl has never had anyone just willing to talk to her ever, but around him, she finds in hard to keep with her snarky nature in order to avoid answering questions. If something is troubling her, instead of locking it inside to hope that it would disappear eventually, she actually has the desire to talk about it, her normal stubborn nature falling away. Now, anger? Pearl doesn’t explode when she gets angry, normally getting very short, her sarcastic comments at full force. But something that always surprises me when I play her route is that she always ends up being best friends with Adam? Somehow? Even with how much she makes fun of him at every opportunity? If she was truly angry, I do see her going to him, since I think he can probably understand the best for some reason?
Natasha- Natasha is also pretty guarded as well, but more obviously then Thea and Pearl (Her highest stat is stoic for a reason) It is rare to get a long answer out of her out of anything she is feeling, and almost grown numb to everything around her after her breakup with Bobby. His betrayal deeply affected her, even if she would never show it openly. (And she know has to deep with the sudden rush of feelings that she never thought she would have again) If something makes her happy, though she won’t show it much on her face, a small smile the only hint to her actual feelings, she has this desire to tell Adam, though she’s not exactly sure why. And even if he flounders his response, not sure what to do with her telling him this, she lets that all go, knowing it won’t likely be much different if he had come to her with the same thing. To sadness? Honestly, for some reason, I’m heavily leaning Felix. She might not outwardly laugh at his jokes, rolling her eyes at most of them, but they would mean a lot to them anyway. I don’t think you even have to tell Felix how you are feeling, he just kind of seems to know, and Natasha kind of needs that, because she’s not going to reach out to anyone otherwise. And now anger? If you make her angry, it’s very much a calm beneath a storm, since the most you’ll see on the outside in a sharply raised eyebrow, but inside, she’ll be steaming. She would likely not go to anyone in this situation, but if someone came and asked her about it (thinking Nate specifically in this scenario), depending on just how frustrated she is, she might have share a little about what’s going on in her head.
Mari- In most situations, Mari believes in talking about it surprisingly (the only exception is romantic feelings, something she didn’t even realize she could have) Once she realizes her romantic feelings for Mason, she almost becomes hesitant to talk about anything with him, second guessing all of her actions, something that she is definitely not used to with anyone else. When something makes her happy? Straight to Tina, without a doubt. The two of them are extremely close, almost like sisters in a sense, and when anything goes right, she is the first person that she turns to. Second place to that would be Nate, surprisingly to her. Though we do not know how the Mason admitting feelings thing will work just yet, or the best friend routes, I do like to think that Mari would go to him when she’s staring to accept that she might actually have feelings herself. (At the moment, I have Nate as her best friend in Unit Bravo) Now sad? Would probably try to cover up with humor, since letting people see a more vulnerable part of her scares her, but a kind word goes a long way with her, and she might say more then she expected to. So honestly, probably Felix. She’s more of an open book then she realizes sometimes, even if she shuts that book quite quickly in more then a few occasions. Anger? Mari would never dream of hiding it, and it is quite obvious when she is. And even if I know that she would probably not like this answer, she’d likely go to Mason. Even though she is not fully aware of it, being around him calms her, and she would crave that, but like I said, still not fully aware.
28. What’s your favorite thing about this OC?
Thea- I love writing Thea so much, so it is kind of hard to pick. She is incredibly special to me, if that wasn’t obvious haha. One thing that I do love about her is her desire to love strongly, unconditionally, wearing all her heart on her sleeve, even though she might get herself hurt in the end. She’s been hurt so many times, people either not sharing the depthless of her feelings, and lying and saying that they did, or falling for people who had no desire to have anything serious with her. This all deeply affects her of course, but she never lets her stop herself from doing this the next time. She wants to love and be loved so bad, and for someone to choose her for who she is, not someone they want her to be. But, on a slightly happier note (or not, depending on your view of it), Thea always sees the best in people, even if they perhaps do not deserve to be viewed that way (Bobby comes to mind. It’s the reason I can’t do a Bobby route with her, because I know that she would let him in, and the whole kiss thing would happen, and she’d be way too shocked to move. Regret would eat herself up, and I don’t want to do that to her. So, Douglas instead) Now, as far as her relationship with Felix goes, I love it so much. Thea had no idea just how lonely she was before Felix, and now, she doesn’t feel that way anymore, and that means a lot to her. She’s found out that she is sure she wants to spend forever with (even though she is still having doubts becoming a vampire), and that’s just really sweet to me. But yeah, that’s a few things, but I do love writing her for a lot of these reasons.
Pearl- Pearl is a bit a wisecracker, and it allows me to explore my stupid sense of humor while writing her haha. But seriously, I do love like her sarcastic, stubborn self, who would normally deflect on she was actually feeling, finding someone who makes her feel that she doesn’t have to be that way anymore. There’s just something so sweet about that, and I really like it. And while she is not as much as a hopeless romantic as Thea is, she is one in her own right, and while she did believe in soulmates, she never thought it would happen to her, something that she getting more and more sure that Nate is. She may be stubborn, but when she’s in love, she has no trouble admitting it and going after it if the other person wants to do so. A bit of random trivia about her as well, even though science/technology is her highest skill, her apartment is in the vintage style, something that surprised Nate greatly when he first found out. But even with her skill, she believes that her surroundings do not have to look like her work, and she has a constant distance put between work and her personal life. Which is something that I admire, since I often struggle with that.
Natasha- Natasha is closed off, guarded, and yet, there is always something about her, something that I believe Adam saw during their first meeting in the office. She might seem apathetic, but when she cares about something, she’ll make sure it reaches the end. She has not let herself feel love for so long after what happened with Bobby, and to find that with Adam was a bit of a whirlwind for her. One thing that I love about the two of them is these two stubborn people, who had long gone numb to feeling anything, finding with each other, and slowly realizing that is okay to feel how they feel to each other. Will either of them ever be openly affectionate? Probably not. But they are such a interesting bond to me, something that I don’t see a ton with other A detectives,  and I can’t wait for the both of them to get over their denial and finally say something haha. Another thing that I do like her is her desire for simplicity. She does not feel like everything has to be big and grand, small gestures speaking just as loud, and I really like that. :)
Mari- To be honest, Mari is the complete opposite from me by design, because I wanted to pick interactions that I wouldn’t normally pick. She was the one, that when I first started to write, was the most hesitant the write (Mason as well), but I’ve really grown to like her. She has completely different views on the world then my other detectives, and the only detective that I have that took the promotion negatively. She did not want to be a detective at all, and that is a really interesting dynamic to write. But, I do love her desire to find a found family. She has the worst relationship with her Rebecca (though, that is starting to heal), and exploring just how that’s improving is really interesting to me. Now, on to the romance with her. Mari has the fear of being vulnerable, and she knows that giving a part of herself to someone is just asking to get hurt. Which is wild to her that she feels this pull to Mason, after believing for so long that she could not feel these feelings toward anyway. She’s pushing them away from now, but I like the two of them finding romantic love for the first time with each other.
And honestly, if you’ve reached the end of my rambling, you deserve a medal. You’re amazing, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day! ❤

if i could date & kiss anyone it would be the Tunguska event was a large explosion that occurred near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Yeniseysk Governorate (now Krasnoyarsk Krai), Russia, on the morning of 30 June 1908 (NS).[1][2] The explosion over the sparsely populated Eastern Siberian Taiga flattened 2,000 square kilometres (770 square miles) of forest, and may have caused up to three human casualties.[3] The explosion is generally attributed to the air burst of a meteoroid. It is classified as an impact event, even though no impact crater has been found; the object is thought to have disintegrated at an altitude of 5 to 10 kilometres (3 to 6 miles) rather than to have hit the surface of the Earth.[4] The Tunguska event is the largest impact event on Earth in recorded history, but there have been larger impacts during prehistoric times. Studies have yielded different estimates of the meteoroid's size, on the order of 50 to 190 metres (160 to 620 feet), depending on whether the body entered with a low or high speed.[5] Since the 1908 event, there have been an estimated 1,000 scholarly papers (most in Russian) published on the Tunguska explosion. In 2013, a team of researchers published analysis results of micro-samples from a peat bog near the center of the affected area showing fragments that may be of meteoritic origin.[6][7] Early estimates of the energy of the air burst ranged from 10–15 megatons of TNT (42–63 petajoules) to 30 megatons of TNT (130 PJ),[8] depending on the exact height of burst estimated when the scaling laws from the effects of nuclear weapons are employed.[8][9] More recent calculations that include the effect of the object's momentum find that more of the energy was focused downward than would be the case from a nuclear explosion and estimate that the airburst had an energy range from 3 to 5 megatons of TNT (13 to 21 PJ).[9] A 2019 paper suggests the explosive power may have been around 20–30 megatons.[10] The 15-megaton (Mt) estimate represents an energy about 1,000 times greater than that of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan—roughly equal to that of the United States' Castle Bravo (15.2 Mt) nuclear test in 1954, and about one-third that of the Soviet Union's Tsar Bomba explosion in 1961.[11] It is estimated that the Tunguska explosion knocked down 80 million trees over an area of 2,150 km2 (830 sq mi), and that the shock wave from the blast would have measured 5.0 on the Richter magnitude scale. An explosion of this magnitude would be capable of destroying a large metropolitan area.[12] Eyewitness reports indicate that at least three people may have died in the event.[13][14][15][16][3] The Tunguska event has helped to spark discussion of asteroid impact avoidance. On 30 June 1908 (cited in Russia as 17 Jun 1908, Julian Calendar, prior to implementation of the Soviet calendar in 1918), at around 07:17 local time, Evenki natives and Russian settlers in the hills north-west of Lake Baikal observed a column of bluish light, nearly as bright as the Sun, moving across the sky. About ten minutes later, there was a flash and a sound similar to artillery fire. Eyewitnesses closer to the explosion reported that the source of the sound moved from the east to the north of them. The sounds were accompanied by a shock wave that knocked people off their feet and broke windows hundreds of kilometres away. The explosion registered at seismic stations across Eurasia, and air waves from the blast were detected in Germany, Denmark, Croatia, the United Kingdom, and as far away as Batavia and Washington, D.C.[17] It is estimated that, in some places, the resulting shock wave was equivalent to an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter magnitude scale.[18] Over the next few days night skies in Asia and Europe were aglow,[19] with contemporaneous reports of photographs being successfully taken at midnight in Sweden and Scotland.[17] It has been theorized that this effect was due to light passing through high-altitude ice particles that had formed at extremely low temperatures—a phenomenon that many years later was produced by space shuttles.[20][21] In the United States, a Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory program at the Mount Wilson Observatory observed a months-long decrease in atmospheric transparency consistent with an increase in suspended dust particles.[22] Selected eyewitness reports  Topi Tunguski, around the area where it fell. This photo is from the magazine Around the World, 1931. The original photo was taken between 1927 and 1930 (presumably, no later than 14 September 1930). Testimony of S. Semenov, as recorded by Leonid Kulik's expedition in 1930:[23] At breakfast time I was sitting by the house at Vanavara Trading Post [65 kilometres/40 miles south of the explosion], facing north. […] I suddenly saw that directly to the north, over Onkoul's Tunguska Road, the sky split in two and fire appeared high and wide over the forest [as Semenov showed, about 50 degrees up—expedition note]. The split in the sky grew larger, and the entire northern side was covered with fire. At that moment I became so hot that I couldn't bear it as if my shirt was on fire; from the northern side, where the fire was, came strong heat. I wanted to tear off my shirt and throw it down, but then the sky shut closed, and a strong thump sounded, and I was thrown a few metres. I lost my senses for a moment, but then my wife ran out and led me to the house. After that such noise came, as if rocks were falling or cannons were firing, the Earth shook, and when I was on the ground, I pressed my head down, fearing rocks would smash it. When the sky opened up, hot wind raced between the houses, like from cannons, which left traces in the ground like pathways, and it damaged some crops. Later we saw that many windows were shattered, and in the barn, a part of the iron lock snapped. Testimony of Chuchan of Shanyagir tribe, as recorded by I. M. Suslov in 1926:[24] We had a hut by the river with my brother Chekaren. We were sleeping. Suddenly we both woke up at the same time. Somebody shoved us. We heard whistling and felt strong wind. Chekaren said, 'Can you hear all those birds flying overhead?' We were both in the hut, couldn't see what was going on outside. Suddenly, I got shoved again, this time so hard I fell into the fire. I got scared. Chekaren got scared too. We started crying out for father, mother, brother, but no one answered. There was noise beyond the hut, we could hear trees falling down. Chekaren and I got out of our sleeping bags and wanted to run out, but then the thunder struck. This was the first thunder. The Earth began to move and rock, the wind hit our hut and knocked it over. My body was pushed down by sticks, but my head was in the clear. Then I saw a wonder: trees were falling, the branches were on fire, it became mighty bright, how can I say this, as if there was a second sun, my eyes were hurting, I even closed them. It was like what the Russians call lightning. And immediately there was a loud thunderclap. This was the second thunder. The morning was sunny, there were no clouds, our Sun was shining brightly as usual, and suddenly there came a second one! Chekaren and I had some difficulty getting out from under the remains of our hut. Then we saw that above, but in a different place, there was another flash, and loud thunder came. This was the third thunder strike. Wind came again, knocked us off our feet, struck the fallen trees. We looked at the fallen trees, watched the tree tops get snapped off, watched the fires. Suddenly Chekaren yelled "Look up" and pointed with his hand. I looked there and saw another flash, and it made another thunder. But the noise was less than before. This was the fourth strike, like normal thunder. Now I remember well there was also one more thunder strike, but it was small, and somewhere far away, where the Sun goes to sleep. Sibir newspaper, 2 July 1908:[25] On the morning of 17th of June,[26] around 9:00, we observed an unusual natural occurrence. In the north Karelinski village [200 verst (213 km (132 mi)) north of Kirensk] the peasants saw to the northwest, rather high above the horizon, some strangely bright (impossible to look at) bluish-white heavenly body, which for 10 minutes moved downwards. The body appeared as a "pipe", i.e., a cylinder. The sky was cloudless, only a small dark cloud was observed in the general direction of the bright body. It was hot and dry. As the body neared the ground (forest), the bright body seemed to smudge, and then turned into a giant billow of black smoke, and a loud knocking (not thunder) was heard as if large stones were falling, or artillery was fired. All buildings shook. At the same time the cloud began emitting flames of uncertain shapes. All villagers were stricken with panic and took to the streets, women cried, thinking it was the end of the world. The author of these lines was meantime in the forest about 6 versts [6.4 km] north of Kirensk and heard to the north east some kind of artillery barrage, that repeated in intervals of 15 minutes at least 10 times. In Kirensk in a few buildings in the walls facing north-east window glass shook. Siberian Life newspaper, 27 July 1908:[27] When the meteorite fell, strong tremors in the ground were observed, and near the Lovat village of the Kansk uezd two strong explosions were heard, as if from large-calibre artillery. Krasnoyaretz newspaper, 13 July 1908:[28] Kezhemskoe village. On the 17th an unusual atmospheric event was observed. At 7:43 the noise akin to a strong wind was heard. Immediately afterward a horrific thump sounded, followed by an earthquake that literally shook the buildings as if they were hit by a large log or a heavy rock. The first thump was followed by a second, and then a third. Then the interval between the first and the third thumps was accompanied by an unusual underground rattle, similar to a railway upon which dozens of trains are travelling at the same time. Afterward, for 5 to 6 minutes an exact likeness of artillery fire was heard: 50 to 60 salvoes in short, equal intervals, which got progressively weaker. After 1.5–2 minutes after one of the "barrages" six more thumps were heard, like cannon firing, but individual, loud and accompanied by tremors. The sky, at the first sight, appeared to be clear. There was no wind and no clouds. Upon closer inspection to the north, i.e. where most of the thumps were heard, a kind of an ashen cloud was seen near the horizon, which kept getting smaller and more transparent and possibly by around 2–3 p.m. completely disappeared.  Tunguska's trajectory and the locations of five villages projected onto a plane normal to the Earth's surface and passing through the fireball's approach path. The scale is given by an adopted beginning height of 100 km. Three zenith angles ZR of the apparent radiant are assumed and the trajectories plotted by the solid, dashed, and dotted lines, respectively. The parenthesized data are the distances of the locations from the plane of projection: a plus sign indicates the location is south-south west of the plane; a minus sign, north-north east of it. The transliteration of the village names in this figure and the text is consistent with that of Paper I and differs somewhat from the transliteration in the current world atlases. InvestigationsIt was more than a decade after the event before any scientific analysis of the region took place, in part due to the isolation of the area. In 1921, the Russian mineralogist Leonid Kulik led a team to the Podkamennaya Tunguska River basin to conduct a survey for the Soviet Academy of Sciences.[29] Although they never visited the central blast area, the many local accounts of the event led Kulik to believe that the explosion had been caused by a giant meteorite impact. Upon returning, he persuaded the Soviet government to fund an expedition to the suspected impact zone, based on the prospect of salvaging meteoric iron.[30]  Photograph from Kulik's 1929 expedition taken near the Hushmo River Kulik led a scientific expedition to the Tunguska blast site in 1927. He hired local Evenki hunters to guide them to the centre of the blast area, where they expected to find an impact crater. To their surprise, there was no crater to be found at ground zero. Instead they found a zone, roughly 8 kilometres (5.0 miles) across, where the trees were scorched and devoid of branches, but still standing upright.[30] The trees farther away had been partly scorched and knocked down in a direction away from the center. In the 1960s, it was established that the zone of levelled forest occupied an area of 2,150 km2 (830 sq mi), its shape resembling a gigantic spread-eagled butterfly with a "wingspan" of 70 km (43 mi) and a "body length" of 55 km (34 mi).[31] Upon closer examination, Kulik located holes that he erroneously concluded were meteorite holes; he did not have the means at that time to excavate the holes. During the next ten years there were three more expeditions to the area. Kulik found several dozens of little "pothole" bogs, each 10 to 50 metres (33 to 164 feet) in diameter, that he thought might be meteoric craters. After a laborious exercise in draining one of these bogs (the so-called "Suslov's crater", 32 m (105 ft) in diameter), he found an old stump on the bottom, ruling out the possibility that it was a meteoric crater. In 1938, Kulik arranged for an aerial photographic survey of the area[32] covering the central part of the levelled forest (250 square kilometres (97 sq mi)).[33] The negatives of these aerial photographs (1,500 negatives, each 18 by 18 centimetres (7.1 by 7.1 inches)) were burned in 1975 by order of Yevgeny Krinov, then Chairman of the Committee on Meteorites of the USSR Academy of Sciences, as part of an initiative to dispose of hazardous nitrate film.[33] Positive prints were preserved for further study in the Russian city of Tomsk.[34] Expeditions sent to the area in the 1950s and 1960s found microscopic silicate and magnetite spheres in siftings of the soil. Similar spheres were predicted to exist in the felled trees, although they could not be detected by contemporary means. Later expeditions did identify such spheres in the resin of the trees. Chemical analysis showed that the spheres contained high proportions of nickel relative to iron, which is also found in meteorites, leading to the conclusion they were of extraterrestrial origin. The concentration of the spheres in different regions of the soil was also found to be consistent with the expected distribution of debris from a meteoroid air burst.[35] Later studies of the spheres found unusual ratios of numerous other metals relative to the surrounding environment, which was taken as further evidence of their extraterrestrial origin.[36] Chemical analysis of peat bogs from the area also revealed numerous anomalies considered consistent with an impact event. The isotopic signatures of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen at the layer of the bogs corresponding to 1908 were found to be inconsistent with the isotopic ratios measured in the adjacent layers, and this abnormality was not found in bogs located outside the area. The region of the bogs showing these anomalous signatures also contains an unusually high proportion of iridium, similar to the iridium layer found in the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary. These unusual proportions are believed to result from debris from the falling body that deposited in the bogs. The nitrogen is believed to have been deposited as acid rain, a suspected fallout from the explosion.[36][37][38] Researcher John Anfinogenov has suggested that a boulder found at the event site, known as John's stone, is a remnant of the meteorite,[39] but oxygen isotope analysis of the quartzite suggests that it is of hydrothermal origin, and probably related to Permian-Triassic Siberian Traps magmatism.[40] Earth impactor modelAsteroid air burst  Comparison of possible sizes of Tunguska (TM mark) and Chelyabinsk meteoroids to Eiffel Tower and Empire State Building. The leading scientific explanation for the explosion is the air burst of an asteroid 6–10 km (4–6 mi) above Earth's surface. Meteoroids enter Earth's atmosphere from outer space every day, travelling at a speed of at least 11 km/s (7 mi/s). The heat generated by compression of air in front of the body (ram pressure) as it travels through the atmosphere is immense and most meteoroids burn up or explode before they reach the ground. Since the second half of the 20th century, close monitoring of Earth's atmosphere through infrasound and satellite observation has shown that asteroid air bursts with energies comparable to those of nuclear weapons routinely occur, although Tunguska-sized 5-15 megaton[41] events are much rarer. Eugene Shoemaker estimated that 20 kiloton events occur annually and that Tunguska sized events occur about once every 300 years.[8][42] More recent estimates place Tunguska-sized events at about once every thousand years, with 5 kiloton air bursts averaging about once per year.[43] Most of these air bursts are thought to be caused by asteroid impactors as opposed to mechanically weaker cometary materials based on their typical penetration depths into the Earth's atmosphere.[43] The largest asteroid air burst to be observed with modern instrumentation was the 500-kiloton Chelyabinsk meteor of 2013, which shattered windows and produced meteorites.[41] Blast patternsThe explosion's effect on the trees near the hypocentre of the explosion was similar to the effects of the conventional Operation Blowdown. These effects are caused by the blast wave produced by large airburst explosions. The trees directly below the explosion are stripped as the blast wave moves vertically downward, while trees farther away are knocked over because the blast wave is travelling closer to horizontal when it reaches them. Soviet experiments performed in the mid-1960s, with model forests (made of matches on wire stakes) and small explosive charges slid downward on wires, produced butterfly-shaped blast patterns similar to the pattern found at the Tunguska site. The experiments suggested that the object had approached at an angle of roughly 30 degrees from the ground and 115 degrees from north and had exploded in mid-air.[44] Asteroid or cometIn 1930, the British astronomer F. J. W. Whipple suggested that the Tunguska body was a small comet. A comet is composed of dust and volatiles, such as water ice and frozen gases, and could have been completely vaporised by the impact with Earth's atmosphere, leaving no obvious traces. The comet hypothesis was further supported by the glowing skies (or "skyglows" or "bright nights") observed across Europe for several evenings after the impact, possibly explained by dust and ice that had been dispersed from the comet's tail across the upper atmosphere.[8] The cometary hypothesis gained a general acceptance amongst Soviet Tunguska investigators by the 1960s.[8] In 1978, Slovak astronomer Ľubor Kresák suggested that the body was a fragment of Comet Encke. This is a periodic comet with an extremely short period of 3 years that stays entirely within the orbit of Jupiter. It is also responsible for the Beta Taurids, an annual meteor shower with a maximum activity around 28–29 June. The Tunguska event coincided with the peak activity of that shower,[45] and the approximate trajectory of the Tunguska object is consistent with what would be expected from a fragment of Comet Encke.[8] It is now known that bodies of this kind explode at frequent intervals tens to hundreds of kilometres above the ground. Military satellites have been observing these explosions for decades.[46] During 2019 astronomers searched for hypothesized asteroids ~100 metres in diameter from the Taurid swarm between 5–11 July, and 21 July – 10 August.[47] However, as of December 2019 there have been no reports of discoveries of any such objects. In 1983, astronomer Zdeněk Sekanina published a paper criticising the comet hypothesis. He pointed out that a body composed of cometary material, travelling through the atmosphere along such a shallow trajectory, ought to have disintegrated, whereas the Tunguska body apparently remained intact into the lower atmosphere. Sekanina argued that the evidence pointed to a dense, rocky object, probably of asteroidal origin. This hypothesis was further boosted in 2001, when Farinella, Foschini, et al. released a study calculating the probabilities based on orbital modelling extracted from the atmospheric trajectories of the Tunguska object. They concluded with a probability of 83% that the object moved on an asteroidal path originating from the asteroid belt, rather than on a cometary one (probability of 17%).[1] Proponents of the comet hypothesis have suggested that the object was an extinct comet with a stony mantle that allowed it to penetrate the atmosphere. The chief difficulty in the asteroid hypothesis is that a stony object should have produced a large crater where it struck the ground, but no such crater has been found. It has been hypothesised that the passage of the asteroid through the atmosphere caused pressures and temperatures to build up to a point where the asteroid abruptly disintegrated in a huge explosion. The destruction would have to have been so complete that no remnants of substantial size survived, and the material scattered into the upper atmosphere during the explosion would have caused the skyglows. Models published in 1993 suggested that the stony body would have been about 60 metres (200 ft) across, with physical properties somewhere between an ordinary chondrite and a carbonaceous chondrite.[citation needed] Typical carbonaceous chondrite substance tends to be dissolved with water rather quickly unless it is frozen.[48] Christopher Chyba and others have proposed a process whereby a stony meteorite could have exhibited the behaviour of the Tunguska impactor. Their models show that when the forces opposing a body's descent become greater than the cohesive force holding it together, it blows apart, releasing nearly all its energy at once. The result is no crater, with damage distributed over a fairly wide radius, and all of the damage resulting from the thermal energy released in the blast. Three-dimensional numerical modelling of the Tunguska impact done by Utyuzhnikov and Rudenko in 2008[49] supports the comet hypothesis. According to their results, the comet matter dispersed in the atmosphere, while the destruction of the forest was caused by the shock wave. During the 1990s, Italian researchers, coordinated by the physicist Giuseppe Longo from University of Bologna, extracted resin from the core of the trees in the area of impact to examine trapped particles that were present during the 1908 event. They found high levels of material commonly found in rocky asteroids and rarely found in comets.[50][51] Kelly et al. (2009) contend that the impact was caused by a comet because of the sightings of noctilucent clouds following the impact, a phenomenon caused by massive amounts of water vapor in the upper atmosphere. They compared the noctilucent cloud phenomenon to the exhaust plume from NASA's Endeavour space shuttle.[52][53] In 2013, analysis of fragments from the Tunguska site by a joint US-European team was consistent with an iron meteorite.[54] The February 2013 Chelyabinsk bolide event provided ample data for scientists to create new models for the Tunguska event. Researchers used data from both Tunguska and Chelyabinsk to perform a statistical study of over 50 million combinations of bolide and entry properties that could produce Tunguska-scale damage when breaking apart or exploding at similar altitudes. Some models focused on combinations of properties which created scenarios which similar effects to the tree fall pattern as well as the atmospheric and seismic pressure waves of Tunguska. Four different computer models produced similar results; they concluded that the likeliest candidate for the Tunguska impactor was a stony body between 50 and 80 m (164 and 262 ft) in diameter, entering the atmosphere at roughly 55,000 km/h (34,000 mph), exploding at 10 to 14 km (6 to 9 mi) altitude, and releasing explosive energy equivalent to between 10 and 30 megatons. This is similar to the blast energy equivalent of the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption. The researchers also concluded impactors of this size only hit the Earth at an average interval scale of millennia.[55] Lake ChekoSee also: Lake ChekoIn June 2007, scientists from the University of Bologna identified a lake in the Tunguska region as a possible impact crater from the event. They do not dispute that the Tunguska body exploded in mid-air but believe that a ten-metre fragment survived the explosion and struck the ground. Lake Cheko is a small, bowl-shaped lake approximately 8 km (5.0 mi) north-northwest of the hypocentre.[56] The hypothesis has been disputed by other impact crater specialists.[57] A 1961 investigation had dismissed a modern origin of Lake Cheko, saying that the presence of metres-thick silt deposits at the lake's bed suggests an age of at least 5,000 years,[35] but more recent research suggests that only a metre or so of the sediment layer on the lake bed is "normal lacustrine sedimentation", a depth consistent with an age of about 100 years.[58] Acoustic-echo soundings of the lake floor provide support for the hypothesis that the lake was formed by the Tunguska event. The soundings revealed a conical shape for the lake bed, which is consistent with an impact crater.[59] Magnetic readings indicate a possible metre-sized chunk of rock below the lake's deepest point that may be a fragment of the colliding body.[59] Finally, the lake's long axis points to the hypocentre of the Tunguska explosion, about 7.0 km (4.3 mi) away.[59] Work is still being done at Lake Cheko to determine its origins.[60] The main points of the study are that Cheko, a small lake located in Siberia close to the epicentre of the 1908 Tunguska explosion, might fill a crater left by the impact of a fragment of a cosmic body. Sediment cores from the lake's bottom were studied to support or reject this hypothesis. A 175-centimetre-long (69 in) core, collected near the center of the lake, consists of an upper c. 1-metre-thick (39 in) sequence of lacustrine deposits overlaying coarser chaotic material. 210Pb and 137Cs indicate that the transition from lower to upper sequence occurred close to the time of the Tunguska event. Pollen analysis reveals that remains of aquatic plants are abundant in the top post-1908 sequence but are absent in the lower pre-1908 portion of the core. These results, including organic C, N and δ13C data, suggest that Lake Cheko formed at the time of the Tunguska event.[61] In 2017, new research by Russian scientists pointed to a rejection of the theory. They used soil research to prove that the lake is 280 years old or even much older; in any case clearly older than the Tunguska events.[62][63] Geophysical hypothesesThe scientific consensus is that the explosion was caused by the impact of a small asteroid, but there are some dissenters. Astrophysicist Wolfgang Kundt has proposed that the Tunguska event was caused by the release and subsequent explosion of 10 million tons of natural gas from within Earth's crust.[64][65][66][67][68] The basic idea is that natural gas leaked out of the crust and then rose to its equal-density height in the atmosphere; from there, it drifted downwind, in a sort of wick, which eventually found an ignition source such as lightning. Once the gas was ignited, the fire streaked along the wick, and then down to the source of the leak in the ground, whereupon there was the explosion. The similar verneshot hypothesis has also been proposed as a possible cause of the Tunguska event.[69][70][71] Other research has supported a geophysical mechanism for the event.[72][73][74] Similar eventsSee also: Fireball (meteor) and List of meteor air burstsThe Tunguska event is not the only example of a great unobserved explosion event. For example, the 1930 Curuçá River event in Brazil may have been an explosion of a superbolide that left no clear evidence of an impact crater. Modern developments in infrasound detection by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization and infrared DSP satellite technology have reduced the likelihood of undetected airbursts. A smaller air burst occurred over a populated area in Russia on 15 February 2013, at Chelyabinsk in the Ural district of Russia. The exploding meteoroid was an asteroid that measured about 17 to 20 metres across, with an estimated initial mass of 11,000 tonnes and which exploded with an energy release of approximately 500 kilotons.[55] It inflicted over 1,200 injuries, mainly from broken glass falling from windows shattered by its shock wave.[75] In popular cultureMain article: Tunguska event in popular cultureSee alsoPatomskiy crater, about 830 km (515 mi) to the east-southeast Sikhote-Alin meteorite, 1947 impact Tunguska Nature Reserve, protected area covering a portion of the site; ongoing scientific study of forest recovery Tall el-Hammam, a Middle Bronze Age site that one archaeological team has proposed was destroyed by an airburst

Day 3: DATE
Pairing: Nate x f!Detective (Berenice Bailey)
Warnings: None, this is just fluff. Berenice is freaking out because she has her first date with Nate, but Farah is there for her.
Words: ~1.2k
☾ 一一一一一一一一一 ☽
"That's it, Berry. That's the one."
Berenice rolled her eyes at Farah, eying the vampire comfortably spread on her bed while she looked at herself in the mirror.
"You've said that about the last five dresses!"
Farah huffed. "Because they all were perfect! Seriously, is this a human thing? You have to try on a hundred dresses before a date?"
The detective groaned, sitting down on the bed beside her friend, fingers getting lost in her black hair. "I know I'm being ridiculous. But it's our first date date."
"What about the carnival one?"
"That caught me off guard!" Berry turned her gaze towards the golden one of the vampire, and she could see her anxiety. "I didn't dress up or thought about what we were going to do, I was just there and suddenly we were on a date!" Farah put a comforting hand on her back. "I just want to look different than I normally do, I want tonight to be special for Nate."
Farah snickered and gained an outraged glance from the other woman. "Sorry, but Nate is over the moon since you two started dating. You could show up naked and I'm sure he'd be delighted. Though I guess you wouldn't make it to the restaurant then."
Berenice let out a laugh before swatting at her arm playfully. "You're as bad as Morgan."
The tension on her body seemed to ease as they laughed together.
"Seriously though…" Farah started, and was about to remind Berenice of the fact that Nate had seen her with her usual bright sundresses, as well as in her PJs, in training clothes, with no makeup, even bloodied and bruised, and he had fallen for her because she was more than the way she looked or the clothes she wore. But knowing Berenice, that would probably make her tear up and it had taken forever for her to do her eyeliner, so she just said: "The dark blue one."
The brunette perked up. "The strapless one? Isn't that one a little too… tight?"
"You gotta strut your stuff, babe." Farah winked at her. "Got any heels? I've always seen you in flats, and that way you won't look like a gnome beside Nate."
"I got the peep toe pumps I bought for my last blind date." She started taking off the dress and putting on the one Farah had said. "Which I canceled, so I spent a day walking on them through the apartment for nothing - wait, did you say I look like a gnome?!"
The vampire cocked a brow. "How long ago was that date?"
"Uh… two years, I think?"
"Damn, Berry."
"What? I was tired of trying to find someone, I thought if the right person was going to appear, they would find me." She finished zipping up her dress and turned to see a wistful smile on Farah's face. "What is it?"
"You and Nate are perfect for each other."
The smile spreading on Berenice's face quickly turned into a panicked expression at the sound of a knocking on the door. "He's here! Eeek!" She jumped on the spot, trying to find the shoes on her wardrobe but only managing to make a box of sandals fall on her forehead. "Not the time!" She said through gritted teeth.
"Whoa. Please, chill. I'll get the door."
Berenice threw her a grateful smile as Farah walked out of the bedroom, shaking her head with amusement. She opened the door to find a smiling Nate. Farah looked at him up and down, he was wearing a light grey shirt with a dark blue tie, the same color of his fitting jeans.
"Damn, Natey, don't you look nice for our dear detective." She teased, but the smile on her face was genuine. "Nervous?"
Nate smoothed some inexistent wrinkles from his shirt, but his grin was the brightest she had ever seen. "More like excited. Incredibly so."
Berenice stepped into the living room walking steadier on her high heels than Farah had thought she would, but when she looked down her legs she realized she was wearing a pair of black flat booties.
She needed to feel comfortable - and also be able to keep in pace with Nate's strides - if they were going to take a walk after dinner. She needed to feel she was prepared for everything, and she could not feel in control wearing 5 inches heels.
But the knots inside her stomach melted into butterflies when she met those chocolate eyes. They were slightly widened, his lips parted as he exhaled a deep breath, and she was suddenly glad she had listened to Farah's advice about the dress.
"Berenice." He practically sighed, stepping inside the apartment, and she met him halfway, looking up at him. "I'm afraid you've rendered me speechless." He chuckled, a hand rubbing the back of his neck. She was staring at him with fascination, taking in how different he looked without his usual layers of warm colors, and how beautifully the silvery grey of his shirt complimented his tawny skin.
Without knowing how, their hands had found each other, and they both looked down at their intertwined fingers, Nate giving her a soft squeeze.
"Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds to it." Farah grinned widely, stepping outside the door. "Remember you have a reservation, you will miss it if you stay there looking at each other all night."
Nate almost rolled his eyes at the interruption of their tender moment, but Berenice looked back to Farah.
"Thank you for everything. See you soon?"
The vampire winked at her. "Maybe tomorrow morning if you don't sleep in your apartment tonight." And with that, she was gone, only the sound of her giggling behind her.
Berenice snorted a laugh and looked up to Nate's flushed face, and it was her turn to squeeze his hand. "You look so handsome." She said softly, and his demeanor relaxed. He tugged her hand and brought her closer, leaning down to her until he could place a kiss on her cheek. The thunderous drumming of her heart the best soundtrack he could wish for.
"You look absolutely lovely tonight, Berry." He kissed her forehead next, his eyes falling to a red spot. "Did you hit your head?" He carefully caressed the area as he heard her snort a laugh before covering her mouth with her hand.
"My wardrobe attacked me." She vaguely explained, and he wanted to ask more, but she was on her tiptoes and her hand was tugging him down by his tie.
He obliged happily, lips finding each other softly, a welcome kiss to mark the start of their first night going out together as a couple. He had everything planned, but all his thoughts were lost at the soft insistence of her tongue against his lips, searching his own, and soon the kiss was deeper and he groaned into her mouth before straightening up, pecking her lips one last time.
"We should go if we want to make it on time." But the way his half hooded eyes stared at her parted lips let her know how reluctant he was to stop kissing her. She nodded, half entranced by those deep eyes and his half smile.
When he offered his hand, she took it without a second thought, fingers intertwining as if they had been doing this for ages.
"Shall we?"
"Let's go."
And so started the first date of the countless they would share.

Rating: Mature Pairing: Morgan/Male OC (Tanner Drake) Word Count: 935 Warnings: No explicit smut, but a lot of suggestive references. A/N: Late again, and sorry in advance for the spamming today but I’m gonna be catching up. Also, this one takes place back before Tanner and Morgan actually hook up.
--
She doesn't like him. He's hot, that's all. And kind of cocky and kind of an asshole and what can she say? Morgan's into it. Maybe it's because he's the same as her; not relationship material by a long shot, but she has a feeling he knows his way around the bedroom. Probably the kitchen, bathroom and any number of outdoor locations as well. That, and he’s hot.
He's obviously not picky if the amount of randoms that seem to recognise him and shoot him suggestive winks while he's out somewhere is anything to go by. He's even made it clear that he holds interest for Farah and Adam, of all people. So why the hell doesn't he respond in the same way to her?
It bothers her. Not because she likes him, of course, but because since when does anyone reject her? She hasn't lost it, she knows this because she picked up only two nights ago without even trying but for some reason Tanner just seems to have absolutely no interest in her.
She's about ready to give up, because be damned if she's going to let him turn her into a girl that chases a guy. At least that is until the door of the hotel room they're sharing in the city while they're trying to find their target flies open and he practically struts inside. Shirt already half unbuttoned, tie undone and sleeves folded up to expose his forearms. Half of the cursive tattoo along his right arm is visible as he drops his jacket down over the back of the couch before glancing up at her. She still doesn't know what the tattoo says, or what it means, despite trying to get it out of him several times already. Not that she cares. She's just curious.
"You wanna take a picture?" he arches an eyebrow at her and untucks his shirt to start unbuttoning the rest of it, and it's not until his voice snaps her out of her daze that she realises she's staring.
"Waste of time with you wearing so many clothes," she replies, then immediately kicks herself. So much for giving up.
He grins at her and slips his shirt off of his shoulders, dropping it down onto the back of the couch with his jacket. "How about now?"
"Still can't see the important part."
"Are you saying you want to see the important part?"
This is the most responsive he's been to her suggestive comments so far, and she wasn't expecting it so she's not quite sure how to answer. He steps closer to her, his hands lowering to his belt but then pausing instead of unbuckling it.
"All you need to do is ask for it," he adds in little more than a murmur, making her frown up at him.
Is this guy fucking serious? A little over a week now of constant flirting and suggesting and occasionally talking outright filth to him, and now he's telling her she still needs to ask for it?
No.
"In your dreams," she spits in response, and he laughs and lets his hands fall away from his belt, stepping back away from her again.
"Sadly not, but maybe if you give my imagination something to work with you'll have more luck making your way in here." He taps the side of his head lightly, waiting a moment for her reply before shrugging when it doesn't come and turning to head for the bedroom.
She watches him until the door closes behind him, involuntarily holding her breath with a scowl on her face. She hates that he gets her so on edge, that he makes it so difficult for her to ignore his good looks, that he can keep his cool so well around her while on the inside she becomes a frustrated mess.
--
Tanner chuckles to himself as he closes the door behind him. She's always fun to mess with, though it seems like she might be starting to grow tired of it so he supposes he's going to have to cave to her soon before she gives up entirely and he misses his chance.
Of course he wants her to touch him like her twitching fingers give away that she wants to. Of course he wants her to tear his clothes off and get a look at all of him like she obviously wants to. Of course she's made an appearance in his dreams, almost nightly for the last week since meeting her. Filthy, indecent dreams that he's dying to whisper in her ear in great detail, dreams that have fueled the need for the three one night stands he's brought back to the room in the five nights they've been in the city. Dreams that make it increasingly difficult to resist grabbing her and acting out in reality when he wakes from them and she's the first person he sees.
He groans when just thinking about the dreams starts to cause an involuntary reaction from his body, and he forces thoughts of them and of her in general away and tries to think of something else. Toads. Cold showers. The God awful patterning of the wallpaper in the bedroom. Nate. Anything.
Morgan's hot, but he's not about to stoop to jerking off to thoughts of her like some kind of school boy. He's better than that, he can wait and save his arousal for the real thing. Something that he suddenly realises he's far more eager for than he'd thought. It's time to stop playing, he decides. Next time she propositions him, he's going to accept.

DESCRIPTION
Raven haired and hazel eyed, Ash Langford tends to leave an impression.
A vibrant man who’s openly friendly and very perceptive to other peoples emotions. He’s warm and easy going but he’s also got a shrewdness to him which is why his career as a detective took off so quickly. Curiosity shapes many parts of Ash’s life as he always finds some new topic to bury his nose in; from languages to botany to medieval pottery.
At university he studied organic chemistry, but despite his degree he still went into law enforcement when it was suggested to him. Even though he always dreamed of leaving Wayhaven he couldn’t help but be drawn back to the town and it’s people; as well as the career that took his fathers life. Perhaps he stayed to become a detective to add some meaning to his fathers death.
Despite his intelligence, there’s certainly a scatterbrained aspect to him, his office is so completely disorganised Tina gets headaches when she sits in there for too long.
His first encounter with Unit Bravo was a mixed bag to say the least.
Eventually he ended up building solid relationships with the entirety of the team. Nate and Felix both get along great with him. Ash’s mischievous temperament rises to the challenge whenever Felix has some wacky idea; and Nate’s sincerity is greatly appreciated by Ash, and they often find their ideals lining up exceptionally well.
Mason didn’t leave much of an impression on Ash at first, other than his incessant smoking in his damn office. After working together for a few months as a team, Ash came to realise the importance of Mason working in the team. How he fought without hesitation for his teammates against Murphy, even when the chance of coming out alive was so low.
Mason also came to appreciate the way Ash never backed down from conflict, how he’d always throw a punch back whenever someone tried to step on him.
Speaking of conflict, his first meeting with Adam did not go well at all, he quickly learned that the other man brings out the fiery side in him. Ash couldn’t stand Commander Du Mortain at first; horrified by his arrogance and bull-headed personality. Adams open hostility led to a number of blow out fights between the two, since Ash would certainly not let this man talk down to him in such condescending a way. Especially not at his precinct.
However, eventually Ash saw the better side of Adam; the one thats loyal and deeply devoted to those he cares about. As they found common ground they began getting along, finding mutual appreciation in each others perseverance and skill. Their vastly different personalities actually balanced the other out, making them mesh incredibly well when they actually listened to each other.
Ash also enjoys teasing Adam, trying to push his buttons and see what kind of reaction he can get. However, he has far too much pride to openly flirt with him, that would mean defeat in this battle of wits. Adam seemingly takes joy in riling up the other man from time to time as well; throwing little jibes just to see the way Ash’s eyes narrow and how his nose crinkles.
Even after their relationship had become a positive one, they still have genuine, heated arguments frequently enough that it strains Ash. The secretive and controlling side of Adam is something that bothers him more than he cares to admit.
Deep down Ash knows just how much Adam cares for him; and how much he himself reciprocates those feelings. It’s something he would never bring up from fear of Adams reaction. Not that he would ever admit that.
Also, yes he dated Bobby in college, and no he doesn’t know why he did it either.
F U N   F A C T S
1.       After Ash’s penultimate fight with Bobby that led to the latter finally getting kicked out; Ash set fire to his £400 cashmere blazer while standing on the balcony as Bobby watched in horror. He still doesn’t feel bad.
2.       Ash and Verda once got so incredibly hammered while peer reviewing someone’s scientific paper on forensic toxicology, that they ended their review by calling the authors a bunch of half brained pillocks who wouldn’t know the difference between NADH and NADPH if it swung a bat in their face. Verda is currently barred from writing anything for the Journal of Forensic Science.
3.       Ash is extremely allergic to any type of nut. A first date with a very handsome lawyer ended with Ash viciously throwing up over the dinner table after two mouthfuls of contaminated food. The lawyer still ended up sleeping with him.
4.       During a fight with Adam, Ash once got so angry that he burst a blood vessel in his eye. Adam immediately tried to call the Agency paramedics, which just started another fight.
5.       Once while driving he accidentally hit a woodpecker that flew into his front window. He was late to work that day because cried for 30 minutes in his car on the side of the road. At the station when Tina asked him what was wrong, he told her that Douglas had given him a PB&J sandwich.
6. Ash has Adam listed in his phone as COMMANDER ANGST in all caps.
7.       After finding out that Adam hated puns, Ash made it his personal mission to find the most obnoxiously lame puns known to man. He and Felix have competitions who can make the most in the shortest amount of time. Once Ash made a pun so bad Adam accidentally punched a hole in the wall of his office.
8.       When Tane hit on him during his first meeting with Unit Alpha, Ash was 1000% into it. He did not appreciate Adams cock-blocking.
9.       Felix loves asking Ash about random topics and listening to him waffle on for ages about the most obscure aspects of human history and culture. While Adam pretends it annoying, he secretly loves listening to them as well.
10.   Ash did in fact attack Mason with a fire extinguisher after he lit a cigarette in his office one too many times.

Roundabout part 1
Prompt from @wayhavenmonthly
Day13:Friends
Rating: G
Words: 670
Characters :Tina Poname, Lumine Booker (Detective)
Notes:
My first time contributing to a fan community, so here goes nothing.
February nights are never their favorite. Winter thaws yet the breeze is as cold as ever. Shivering, Lumine tucks themselves further in their coat. They wish that they wore more layers, but they know that there were more pressing matters. Tina’s text is alarming. The last messages contain her gushing about a date, saying that it would be everything she would dream, but the next is drawn out with five words.
‘Lumine, please pick me up.’
All they can do is lean on the car and wait. Another gust of wind blows past them. They groan and grimace at the cold. Before they could grab a smoke, Lumine spots her at the corner of their eye.
“ ...Lumine”, she mutters. She wears a weak smile yet her puffed eye and messy makeup says everything. Without another word, they let her in as the car sputters back to life. Lumine glances to silently check on her as they drive away.
After a few moments, Tina sighs with a heavy breath and starts, “You know that feeling when you are sure that he was the one.” She lets out a weak laugh, “ Well, it didn’t work well.”
“This one was the longest I have been with someone, and today was our anniversary.”, she stares out the window while mulling over a thought.
“Somehow, I wonder if it’s because of me.” She wrings her finger together, “ Maybe I let my big mouth run too much and he got fed up. Or-”
Screech!
The car pauses to a halting stop.
“ Lumine, this isn’t my-”
Ignoring her, Lumine steps out of the car as they leave her alone. They don’t seem frustrated yet she can’t be sure. After a few minutes pass, they enter the car with a paper bag in hand.
“Don’t say those awful things about yourself ”, They say while giving her a stern look. Swinging the car door close, they pass the bag to Tina, “ Here.”
Giving them a quizzical look, she unfolds the bag to grab what’s inside. Tina pulls out a pint of ice cream and a spoon. She breaks to smile and tries to stifle a chuckle.
“Huh, what’s wrong?”, they ask.
“You know the weather’s freezing, right?”, she retorts. Lumine’s eyes widen, only remembering the temperature. They grow beet red as Tina hardly contains her laughter.
“I’m just joking with you, Lumine. Besides,” Tina settles to a rambunctious smile, as she teases while nudging their arm, “You care about me, don’t you~”
“Shut up and eat.”, they answer, still reeling from embarrassment.
With the lighter note, Lumine starts to drive. Only minutes ago, she was crying. Now, Tina turns up the radio, and belts lyrics while using the spoon as a mic. The whole situation is a mess, but Lumine can’t help but return a smile as they see her wide grin. For the rest of the ride, Tina tries to coax them to sing, only to entice a snicker from them and a warning that their stellar singing might crash the car.
Upon arriving, Lumine escorts her to the door. Tina, looking better than a while ago, hums tunes from the impromptu concert. Eyeing her with a squint, Lumine questions, “ Your payment?”
Giggling at the wording, she fully knows the arrangement made. Tina tackles and squeezes them tightly,“ Thank you, Lumine.”
She pulls back and stares at them, “ Wait, I just got an idea.”
The twinkling in her eyes sends a shiver down their spine, and the look of her smile doesn’t help.
She says slowly before patting Lumine’s shoulder, “ When you fall in love, let me help.”
“Impossible”, they respond forcefully, “You know, that doesn’t happen to me.”
While moving away, Tina shrugs her shoulder. She doesn’t look dejected to the idea. Forming a Cheshire cat grin, she answers as she disappears into the building, “You will never know~”
They scoff as the corner of their lip curves up at the thought.
Being in love, huh.
They shake their head and moves back to the car.
Impossible.

Kira Grace Kingston
female, she/her
5'6”, slender build
shoulder-length, straight dark-brown hair
pale, lightly freckled skin
light brown eyes
bisexual (though I play her in-game as straight because I just really connected with the all-male Unit Bravo for some reason)
Taurus, born 28 April 1992; 25 at the beginning of Book 1, turns 26 between Book 1 and 2
left-handed
Romance: all of them, I’m using the same Detective for all routes
(infodump about her under the cut, for my own purposes mostly but also for anyone interested)
--Was inspired to become a cop to help people after having one help her when she really, really needed it. Wanted to pay it forward, so to speak.
--Kira is a natural leader and very good at deduction and problem solving (it’s her second highest stat, after people/psychology). She would have likely gone out for detective soon anyway, but didn’t think she was ready or old enough to be in charge of the whole station yet and was surprised when the promotion came. The rest of the station had been secretly considering her their boss for years before Detective Reele retired, but Kira somehow has no idea.
--Totally shot Adam. Feels really bad about it but would never tell him that.
--Will drink tea or coffee, but prefers tea. Her favorites are cinnamon tea and masala chai. If she’s drinking coffee, she prefers the sugary, flavored, Starbucks-like variety, but will sometimes drink it black just to unnerve people (people mostly being Tina).
--Doesn’t wear much make-up, but likes to paint her nails. Usually black or some other dark color, a “layover from her misspent youth.”
--Wears contacts. Has gold-framed glasses that she wears when she has to, but hates them. She’s farsighted, so if for some reason she can’t wear her contacts, she only puts on the glasses for reading.
--Plays guitar and lap steel guitar. Prefers to play blues music, but can play just about any genre. A pretty good singer, but very shy about it. Probably only Rebecca and Tina have ever heard her sing as far as she knows. (she sings to herself at her desk sometimes, but doesn’t realize it. All of UB have probably noticed; Felix definitely has, and is likely waiting for a good opportunity to tease her about it)
--She’s always been very close with Rebecca. They’re both rather independent-minded, so she didn’t mind her mother’s absences so much. Mum was always there when she needed her, and always willing to listen, and that’s what mattered. Now that she knows what she does, Kira is sure that she’s called her mother while she was on a mission before, but Rebecca still always answered, and that fact makes her respect and admire her mum even more.
--Lost a bet to Verda in regards to The Reveal. Verda had said the Murphy case and its oddities were supernatural in nature, Kira said it was science experiments gone awry. Technically, they were both right, but Verda was more right. Kira looks forward to one day being able to tell him, even if she’ll be out £50 for it.
--The only reason Kira isn’t some reclusive hermit is because of Tina Poname. Tina and Kira met when they were both in a very low place, and have lifted each other up and helped put each other back on their feet. Their friendship is very important to Kira, and the fact that she can’t tell Tina that the Hot Secret Agents they’re working with are Hot Secret Agent Vampires is the hardest part of The Reveal. She’s not used to keeping secrets from Tina.
--Tina and Kira have a monthly movie night. One of them picks the movie and the other picks the food, then they swap the next month. It’s more like an adult slumber party than anything else, really, lots of wine and gossip and venting if need be. It’s a tradition going back years now and neither would miss it for the world.
--Is very good with people, it’s her highest stat, but doesn’t actually enjoy being around them much. Very much an introvert, prefers silence and solitude or the company of close friends only. She works very hard to be as approachable as she is.
--Curses like a sailor. Poor Nate.
--Loves to read. Anything and everything. You put a book in front of her and she’ll read it. Mysteries are a favorite.
--Her favorite color is wintergreen like Adam’s eyes.
--Apartment style would be somewhere between cosy and dark. Kind of a Spooky Grandma’s House vibe. Lush fabrics and textures, soft sofas and chairs, but subdued colors. Black, gray, navy blue, with pale blue and wintergreen accents. Artwork is mostly made by locals or by friends from university. Bookshelves nearly overflowing. Apartment is kept clean, but always looks a bit cluttered.
--Preferred clothing style is casual but professional. Jeans, most often paired with a t-shirt or button-up shirt. Mostly long sleeves, but with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows. Usually black, sometimes white or gray, very, very rarely dark green or dark blue. Black leather jacket when it’s cold. Almost always wears black boots; she paid more for those boots than she did for her car (but that says more for how little she paid for the car than how expensive her boots actually are).
--Speaks seven languages. English, Sign Language, Spanish, French, German, Welsh, and, because someone dared her to at university, Sindarin Elvish. With the exception of the elvish, she learned most of them out of necessity or exposure.
--English literature major. Doesn’t serve much in her job, but she’s still proud of it.
--Very shy when it comes to flirting. She hates it about herself. She’s very confident and self-assured in almost every other situation, but if someone starts showing the slightest bit of genuine interest in her she flusters very easily.
--Dated Bobby in year one at university for a couple months. With him in journalism and her in English lit, they had a lot of class overlap early on, and he was familiar and clearly interested and that was enough, for a while. She regrets that she fell so easily for his flirting and has resolved since to not be such an “easy mark” in the future. Hasn’t dated anyone since and hasn’t wanted to (until UB barge into her office, obviously). Kind of hates him, but would never let him know that; she is, instead, very meticulously polite to him, never any more or less.
--At the beginning of Book 1, she has 4 tattoos. Gets a 5th one during the 2 months between Book 1 and Book 2.      -a small, stylized crown on her right wrist (Rebecca has a matching one that she hides under her watch band at work) because Kingston     -bars of music wrapped around her right bicep (watercolour-style effect behind it - the music is Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down”)     -a quote on the inside of her left bicep (“I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.”― Mary Shelley, Frankenstein)     -a large full-color floral piece from her left hip almost to her knee (forget-me-nots for her father, lupines for her mother, lavender roses and verbena for herself)     -new tattoo is a simple, black crescent moon on the back of her neck to symbolize a new beginning (keeps it hidden under her hair most of the time, especially at work).
--Preferred method of working out is rock climbing/wall climbing. Has some combat training, mostly just from the police academy, but she tries to attend aikido lessons when she has time. She likes that it lets her defend herself without being stronger than her opponent, especially now that she deals with the supernatural so much.
--Kira didn’t realize how attached she’d grown to Unit Bravo until the attack on her apartment. She wanted to stay to help her team; on every route, she has to be dragged away in order to get her to leave. Completely, 100% ride or die for all of them.
Kira is my only Detective and I’m using her in all four routes (sorry, folks, I can’t do the Love Triangle. I tried, but I can’t, it already hurts and I’m not strong enough). It’s been very interesting, since she has the same personality no matter what, to see in what ways she connects with each member of Unit Bravo, and the slight changes in her personality stats based on how she responds to romance-specific scenes.
Adam: arguably my “canon” romance for her, though I legitimately and completely love all of them. On his route, her stats skew a little more toward Stubborn and Impulsive because she’s spiteful and he’s kind of an ass, especially to start with.
They’re both headstrong and natural leaders, so they butt heads a lot in terms of authority. She doesn’t like that Adam tries to order her around, he doesn’t like that she refuses to listen to orders sometimes out of spite. But when they actually try to get along, they agree more often than not and could probably make an amazing team given time.
She’s completely, head-over-heels in love with him, but she hasn’t figured it out yet, though she knows she feels something for him. He makes her feel safe, which is how she knows that she’s in deep.
On Adam’s route, Nate is Kira’s best friend. Poor guy’s gonna be stuck between the immovable object and the unstoppable force for 7 fucking books.
Nate: On Nate’s route, Kira’s stats tend more toward Cautious, and also a bit more Heart on the Heart/Mind scale.
Of all of them, Nate would be the one Kira would be most surprised to find herself falling for. She’s not much of a romantic, generally, but she’s also never had anyone look at her like Nate does, or treat her like she’s something precious and important. She feels completely off balance with him and has no idea how to react. She has never been so overwhelmed with a desire to kiss someone before.
Personality-wise, they have a lot in common, both are good with people, compassionate, linguistically talented, and avid readers; to anyone except Kira, them getting together makes perfect sense. He probably doesn’t like how stubborn and foul-mouthed she is, but between Adam and Mason, he’s used to dealing with it.
On Nate’s route, Mason is Kira’s best friend. No one is more surprised about that than they are, and they aren’t really sure how that happened.
Felix: On Felix’s route, Kira skews more toward Easygoing and Impulsive.
In a word, Felix helps Kira relax. She’s a bit of a workaholic and he brings her out of her shell and reminds her that she’s more than just Detective Kingston. It’s refreshing and overwhelming. Romance with Felix is easy.
He’s the only one where she doesn’t end up 100% shy because, even though she still gets horribly flustered by him, he doesn’t make her as tongue-tied as the others do. Maybe it’s because he’s so much less intense than the others, but also she kind of feels like she’s always known him.
She wants to show him the world, all the little things about being human that she’s always taken for granted but he never had in Echo World. Paper airplanes and creepy travelling carnivals and movie theater popcorn and photo booths and everything. They’ll be good for each other, but them joining forces is probably very bad for everyone else.
On Felix’s route, Nate is Kira’s best friend. Unlike with Adam, he isn’t so much trapped between two opposing forces as he is an exhausted parent trying to corral overly-curious children.
Mason: On Mason’s route, Kira’s stats tend even more toward Genuine than they do on other routes, as well as Stubborn.
On the surface Mason and Kira probably don’t look like they’d work, but really I think they’re the pairing that makes the most sense. Mason doesn’t drain her social batteries as much as the others, even at the beginning when he’s as hostile toward her as possible. They both enjoy the quiet, and that’s where the first romantic feelings from her would form, in the calm and silent comfort she feels with him.
But obviously, it doesn’t start romantic even a little bit. At the beginning, she’s neither intimidated nor put off by his sharp, brusque personality, and she’s very flustered and intimidated by his intense manner of flirting, though she’s not really put off by it either. She doesn’t know how to respond to it (though he clearly enjoys how she reacts), but he makes her feel desired in a way she never has before. There’s a certain comfort to knowing that he only wants her physically, that he’s straightforward in his interests.
I imagine that she figures out she’s falling for him after he does something small that should be innocuous, some little off-hand affection that he didn’t even think about and she just goes “oh shit, I’m in love with Mason.”
On Mason’s route, Felix is Kira’s best friend. He definitely sees them falling for each other long before they see it and does everything he can to get them to stop being idiots and realize that they’re in love.
