Prefeitura vai iniciar uma das maiores obras de calçamento da história de Caicó

Na próxima quarta-feira (27), início do carnaval, o prefeito de Caicó, Robson de Araújo (Batata) vai assinar a ordem de serviço ao lado do representante da empresa que vai executar as obras de calçamento no Município.

“Nessa etapa serão contempladas 47 ruas com calçamento e nós vamos começar fazendo o anel viário do bairro Maynard e na sequência anel viário da Vila Altiva e depois vamos entrar para o IPE, Castelo Branco e Nova Descoberta. Após o carnaval, vamos discutir com a empresa outras frentes de trabalho com as obras de calçamento, pois iremos contemplar ruas em todas as regiões de Caicó”, disse o prefeito Batata.

Ele destacou ainda que a empresa já adquiriu o material para começar a obra o mais rápido possível.

Really!? Sure that this would be his reaction!?

(still lol @ the choice of pic, though)

Hmm, I don’t think he’d be as averse to it as is implied here - or at all, actually.

Judging from what the canonical material provides, amongst others, he actually happens to have some quite fatherly traits, and even takes pleasure associating himself with that role, as you can see here:

That, apparently, is also the consensus amongst the fandom, given there are memes like this one:

Even in the movie, he refers to his drones as “my babies”.

In this, he strongly reminds me of two other characters associated with science, invention & technology - i.e. Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars), and Aulë the Smith (Tolkien) - who are known not only for their brilliance, bordering on genius, and their strong innate creativity, but also, if not especially, for their associations with fatherhood (Aulë is known as the “Father of the Dwarves”, and Anakin … I don’t think this even needs a mention, does it!?) - again, a distinctive feature of said creative urge.

This seems to be quite a bit of a phenomenon with characters of this type, especially. Therefore, one could say, that, in terms of this role, they indeed do have a natural inclination and aptitude - and, I’d say, it definitely applies also for Robotnik. He certainly displays this very strongly with his machines so far.

Now, in another post of mine, where I looked a little closer into the role that these machines play for him, I came to the conclusion that they, amongst others, act as a surrogate for his actual, yet suppressed needs and desires.

(Please excuse the lengthiness of this part, but I felt it was really relevant for my argument. I tried to keep it as short as possible, though.)

It is so painfully obvious that this guy has some massive issues, stemming from past emotional neglect and negative experiences - so much, that he even rejects all things human altogether, along with his own humanity. His excessive idealization of and identification with technology, therefore, comes quite in handy as a defense mechanism in order to cope with said experiences.

Machines don’t ask much of you, they do what they are told, they are predictable, and they - above all - can’t suddenly abandon, betray, humiliate, and hurt you (which, I think, is the crux of the matter here).

Even though he might claim that his robots are everything to him, and that he doesn’t need anything and anyone else - his actions, however, prove otherwise (let alone his constant spiteful remarks on the matter, which just sound so damn bitter). We can recognize that quite clearly when he is forced into involuntary seclusion on that mushroom planet at the end.

[…] Essentially, all those objects and machines are but a substitutive gratification that he tries to use, but that never come remotely close to the real deal, let alone are ever able to replace it. In the end, he’s still a human being, along with all the human needs that go along with it - human contact and care included.

I am by no means suggesting that they do not matter (they do, being his creations, after all), but rather that they most definitely would take a back seat to a potential (human) child of his - especially if it is born to the woman that he loves - and, therefore, also happens to contain a part of her (which would enhance its position even further).

Side Note: Frankly, I absolutely can’t see this happen with any other woman, let alone him becoming physically intimate at all. If any of these - whom he doesn’t care about (no matter how pretty) - tried to do that with him, I bet all she would get from him is a frown, and being coolly, but politely sent out of the room. He just doesn’t seem the type to bother about anyone “less than” - or casual sex, for that matter.

And I think it is indeed the connection with this woman that is the crucial part here, given I see her as the single most important person for him - the love of his life & his undisputed No. 1 priority!

(which shouldn’t be all that surprising, given I think he has a similar attachment style & behaviour to his grandfather, as I discussed here)

In the light of this, even this potential child of theirs would “only” get to occupy second place - a very close one, but still a No. 2. But it’s the Morticia to his Gomez we’re talking about, so it’s fine, I guess. ;)

Even so, it still bests the machines with ease, who, in this scenario would get place 3.

Lastly, I want to highlight this little snippet of a quote from a Jim Carrey interview, which encapsulates quite nicely what I was getting at:

“… and all it really comes down to is, he wants to be special to somebody.” [x]

The keyword here is “somebody” - which machines are not, obviously. They’re rather something, an object, which isn’t capable of emotions, or bonds based on love - and to whom a person can never be special in that particular manner.

That is indeed something truly, uniquely human, and, as such, solely reserved for those.

And what bond is more absolute, more exclusive (because no one else can take the place), and, thus, more special than that between a husband and his wife, or - to come back to the subject of this post - a parent and a child!?

So, yeah, the above bits of info about him in mind (aside from my personal interpretation), I think he’d totally dig the thought of being a dad - especially within the context of who the mother is - and I also think he’s one of the characters with the natural propensity for being quite good at it at that (something, not every fave of mine can claim *cough*Ozai*cough*).

To come back to the screenshot at the very top, I’ll concede that he might be a little shocked at first (this coming as a “bit” of a surprise), and, yes, I also think he’d be somewhat concerned (as the OP said), but, I guess, that would be more about his doubts regarding whether or not he’d be able to be a good parent, his own personal history and upbringing in mind. A little self-awareness & -criticism can’t hurt (especially with him), even if he turns out to be wrong about this particular aspect - but, as I said, he’ll do fine. ;)

Given the subject of my last post, I really couldn’t resist - because, honestly, I totally love the idea.

(plus another character to create, which I also love doing, hehe)

So, here she is, my OTP’s daughter - Estella Robotnik-Sharpe

Yes, a girl, because I really, really like father-daughter constellations when it comes to my fav male villains, as I think especially female children manage to draw out their softer sides, and I can’t help but find that absolutely adorable.

Then there is also the aspect, that daughters can also mirror the relationship the father has to the mother, to some degree, since the girl may often remind him of her - via resemblance, personality, or both. You know, the “She really got that beauty / smarts / kind nature / talent for xyz from her mum.” *sighs proudly while making hearteyes at his wife* kind of thing - which I totally dig, too (because OTP stuff).

As for the double surname I picked for Estella …

I thought it was an important detail to point out, that, while her fathers’ ancestry might certainly be more (in)famous, her mother comes from a scientific lineage that has acquired quite some renown, too. The name is supposed to honour exactly that - and the fact that these two truly are, and regard each other as equals. Plus Adelia is half British, and double surnames are fairly common there, if I remember correctly. It is used only for Estella, though. Adelia herself kept her own family name (for the above reasons), even though technically being “Mrs Robotnik”.

Faceclaim would be a young Megan Fox, as I think she has exactly the features that a child of these two here might have:

Again, facial features would be pretty much a mixture of both parents, which, I think, the picture above demonstrates quite nicely.

Like her mother, she has bright grey-ish blue eyes, that are slightly almond-shaped.

Her hair, however, is more like her father’s, both regarding structure and colour - straight and chocolate brown, albeit with some golden highlights.

In terms of her physique, she also takes very much after her mother’s petite, yet feminine frame. When fully grown, she’s but a little bit taller - which is, actually, still quite tiny - especially compared to her considerably taller father.

She’s stronger than she looks, though.

Intelligence-wise, she definitely takes after both her parents - so she’s one really, really smart girl. To her credit, she’s also quite humble about it.

Same goes for her areas of interest, but with the additional subject of (xeno)biology, given she really loves animals (huge side-eye @ dad’s once remark about animal testing, although he did mend his ways in that regard, to be fair, and she does acknowledge that there is indeed some necessity to it, unfortunately, but tries to find ways to dispose of it).

In general, she has a rather introverted, contemplative, kind and caring nature, and is more on the reserved side. Unfortunately, that makes her seem a bit standoffish to others - especially as she appears to have a bit of a “resting bitch face” problem, too.

Sometimes, however, her fiercer nature, as well as her father’s penchant for sarcasm comes through - but that is more the case when she’s angry about something.

Regarding her loved ones she is fiercely loyal, and might even show a more temperamental and lively, even a bit quirky side of herself (which is especially endorsed by her a bit roguish and adventurous friend Miranda).

Shares her mother’s dry humour, and has the ability to keep a straight face in the most peculiar or awkward situations.

For instance, she remains entirely unperturbed when yet again faced with her parents’ very public amorous demeanour, which she usually shrugs off with a “Oh, they do that all the time.” *proceeds to go about her business*. But, then again, she indeed is used to it, unlike any of the nonplussed bystanders.

(I guess, her reactions really do resemble Wednesday’s nonchalance in that regard, who also happens to deal with a similar parent-related situation - and, as I pointed out in the respective post - her parents’ dynamic is very similar to Morticia and Gomez’.).

Her father really dotes on her, and Adelia often jokingly remarks he’d spoil his daughter rotten, if she let him. Unlike his wife, who grew up in a loving family, Ivo had an unhappy, if not desolate childhood, spent in an orphanage, so he somehow feels like having to compensate for the lack he had by trying especially hard concerning his own child. He’s also quite protective, but that goes for his wife and daughter in general (unsurprisingly, given he very much takes after his grandfather Gerald in that regard).

Estella’s sun sign is Cancer, as she was born on the 8th of July - 2 weeks earlier than she was due, and 2 weeks after her parents got married.

(Most definitely not a shotgun type of wedding, btw. Estella might not have been planned, but she was far from being unwanted, as was this marriage. She isn’t the result of a mere fling, either, as her parents had been in a relationship for quite a while already. If anything, the “late” timing was more due to the fact that Ivo simply didn’t have the courage to ask Adelia earlier (because insecurity issues, believe it or not). And both or them aren’t the type to marry out of mere necessity, or convenience, for that matter - nor would Adelia’s parents want, let alone insist on such a union.)

And lastly …

She pretty much regards Agent Stone as her uncle, and even refers to him as such, sometimes, which, in turn, always makes him chuckle, as he’s really fond of the girl - plus his boss indeed has always reminded him of his own, also really successful, older brother whom he tried to emulate when deciding on his career path.

Her best friends are the Wachowski twins (Tom and Maddie’s kids), named James and Miranda, who are roughly 2 years older than her.

And since the feud between her father and Sonic also happens to be a thing of the past, that ended even before she was born (although some moderate rivalry and teasing does persist), she gets along fine with him as well.

So much on that for now.

Another pic of my sonicverse OTP, because I really love them.

The resemblance to another famous fictional couple is purely intentional, because that IS what they are to me, essentially:

The “Gomez and Morticia Addams of Science & Technology”

Honestly, I think this dynamic is so fucking spot on for them, I just couldn’t help it.

And by this, I mean exactly what is stated in this quote by Carolyn Jones:

“Beyond being witty, Morticia and Gomez are the two most romantic people in the world, the perfect husband and wife, consumed with adoration for each other.”

Like Gomez with Morticia, there is literally nothing that Ivo doesn’t love about Adelia - mannerisms and traits included (sure, they still do have differences sometimes, just like any other couple, but since this is about a later, redeemed version of him here, those are fairly minor).

Since they are both scientists in pretty much the same subject areas, and working on projects together, I think the perfect equivalent to “Tish! I just love it when you speak French!” would be him gushing about her talking about formulae and the like.

Their assistants and colleagues would probably be in a constant state of confusion, as to how in the world they get so much done, in between all that love-crazed courtship behaviour & banter.

I’m not saying that they actually make out in front of everyone else (despite PDA being a big thing for them) … but, then again, I would not put it past them, either. Like Gomez, this man has no shame - and, like Morticia, Adelia wouldn’t mind (and enjoy this, in fact).

I guess it’s more like others have learned over time that it is certainly better to knock at the door first. ;)

Some more words on the dear Dr. here:

Not only does he totally look the part, with his moustache and elegant attire (albeit as the Victorian equivalent to Gomez’ 1920s/30s inspired visuals) - he even has the required eccentricity.

And don’t get me started on the necessary emotional dynamite to match Gomez’ intensity - he totally has this, too, as I pointed out in another post of mine:

“If the psycho-social and emotional makeup of his closest known relatives is any indicator to how his own might be structured - and it usually is (I’m speaking about the nature aspect, not nurture) - then he can’t be such a bad guy, after all - at least not inherently. In this scenario, as opposed to Gerald, the person who means the world to him, and whom he loves more than anyone & anything else (machines included), would be none other than his dear wife.

If that doesn’t sound completely Gomez-esque, already, then I don’t know what does.

Furthermore, this statement of Jim Carrey:

“… all it really comes down to is, he wants to be special to somebody, only it’s gone megalomania for him.” [x]

… along with this comic panel (a bit silly, but it gets the point across) :

… show pretty clearly that he indeed does have an inherent need for relationships (but I’ve already elaborated on that matter in the above-mentioned post, too) - and a rather strong one at that, albeit very well hidden and suppressed (at least, at the point in time when the movie takes place - until he meets Adelia, that is).

And then I stumbled upon this gem here:

Some clarification regarding the actual meaning of the words used here, though:

“There’s been speculation that this is a mistranslation, because there’s a Japanese word "feminisuto” that actually means something along the lines of “chivalrous, romantic.” Considering the context […] it makes more sense for the intention to be “chivalrous.”“ [x]

Well, no man deliberately associates himself with something they cannot identify / have nothing in common with, or that they deem absurd.

This, very conveniently, is yet another example that shows he is pretty much exactly like I love my male villains - also in an OTP context. ^^

Adelia Sigrún Sharpe

Just made another set of pics of my Sonic movieverse OC, to get a better grasp of her style.

She likes a fairly classic and minimalist, yet feminine style, be it in her informal, casual clothing, as well as her work attire. She is definitely the person to make a lab coat look really stylish.

Her preferred colour scheme is black, white, and different shades of grey / silver, with the occasional blue (mostly jeans) or red garment, to contrast with the neutrals (or sometimes as a stand-alone piece).

Her makeup is usually rather simple, too. She does only her lashes and eyebrows, along with a bit of lipstick, to accentuate her natural lip colour, and sometimes a red one. I think French Chic describes it rather accurately.

As for her hair - for work she prefers updos, mostly a chignon. Privately, she usually wears her long, wavy, honey blonde hair open, or as a messy-ish bun.

Accessories are used rather sparingly, and are made of silver.

Something she almost always wears on her arm is a useful gadget she built herself, which was designed for both function & a pleasing look.

The sword was included as a hint regarding one of her hobbies, as well as her family name.

I guess I managed to get her to resemble somewhat the two Scarlett Johansson faceclaim pics I picked for her in the other post.
