Btw, this is what editing on this paper has been like (Patreon)
#In other words: Hell#Lol#Normally I wouldn't show my process but I Must drag this paper it is So bad#Plus you can see some of the other little tricks I do! I leave things mo~stly alone but I will sometimes cheat where I can!#I'll also reconstruct if something can't be saved or if I just forgot to draw something on paper lol - or if I ran out of room#Ughhhh these edits took foreverrrrrr#I did some quick math on it somewhat recently actually#An average single edit takes ~4 minutes of continuous work#Averaged between the low of a couple minutes and high of getting into double digits#There was a whole thing about each page having approx. 30 doodles and each doodle being 4mins of editing and each set being 6 doodles etc. e#Basically I put a lot of time into my art and the majority of that isn't even drawing lol#I have Got to find a way to flip that metric...#But with these - these Easily averaged into the double digits each#It's mostly cleaning - stray lines don't take much time at all! Even reconstruction isn't bad#But for whatever reason this paper just Textures Horribly#Leave my blank spaces blank! I don't want toning there!#You can even see! I didn't leave behind all that many guidelines! It was just the paper being awful!#Some of it's still there if you tip your screen at certain angles#I can't because - broken hinge lol - so I mostly had to guess where to hit#Ugh. I'm just glad I'm finally done with this paper#I miss Norcom so bad :( I haven't been able to track down a distributor for years now

Master List
You sat at your vanity, plucking a stray chin hair that your fingers had stuck to like a cactus to dry heat. You set the tweezers down, tossing your hair into a tight bun before grabbing the make-up remover and slowly removing the paint you had placed on your skin. As you began to wash your face, you heard Namjoon enter, making his way through the bathroom to the closet to grab his gym shoes. Through squinted eyes and blurred vision, you made out his basketball shorts hanging dangerously low on his hips, an oversized t-shirt covering his broad shoulders.
“Babe, do you want to go to the gym with me?” He asked, lightly smacking your ass on his way to sit on the edge of your shared bed. He carefully loosened the laces of his gym shoes before tucking them carefully into his gym bag.
“Why did you ask me that?” You questioned, turning the faucet off and delicately pressing a clean towel to your freshly washed skin. You shook your head. He was truly helpless.
“I thought we could bond, work out together,” He said, standing and setting his gym bag just outside your bedroom door.
“I worked out yesterday,” You said, scanning his body through the mirror as you applied your eye cream and azelaic acid to your problem areas.
“Yes, but you could come with me today, too,” He strode to you, slipping his hand under your shirt to rest against your bare skin, his chin lowering to rest on your shoulder.
“Why?” Indignation was your favorite attitude, particularly when it came to teasing Namjoon.
“Working out every day makes you feel –
“No, it makes you feel,” You corrected, finishing applying your double layer of moisturizer. You turned in his arms, only to point a finger into his chest. He smirked down at you, eyes darting to your lips.
“I just thought we could spend some time together at the gym,” He responded, bringing the finger that was in his chest to his lips. He kissed it softly and let you drag it across his bottom lip.
“Oh really?” You asked, taking your finger from his lip to place it between your own. “Or are you trying to tell me you don’t like my body?”
“What? Of course, I,” He was caught off guard by your shift in tone, was this not just flirting?
“What? You want me to work out with you, so do you not like my body? Or do you just tolerate it?” You smirked, the shock on his face feeding into your ego. He wouldn’t make the connection between you washing your face, a sign you were not going to the gym at 7PM, and you blatantly subverting his attempt to get you under him.
“I think you’re beautiful, and sexy, and so strong,” He said, trying to make sense of the game you were spitting.
You called them fighting words. Words meant to rile him up, to start something. Neither of you used them in your average couple squabbles, but when you wanted to dominate, you often cornered him into submission. It was more rewarding to circumvent Namjoon’s expectations than to ask him for what you wanted.
You shoved him back, pushing him out the bathroom and back into the bedroom, where his knees buckled as they hit the side of the bed. It was then that he realized what you were doing.
“Oh, you do? Is that why you want to go to the gym with me? To watch my ass when I do squats? To see my fat jiggle on the elliptical? To ogle me while I’m stretching?”
“I want all of it,” He said.
“Ah, so now you love my body? How softly it envelopes you, how it holds you tight? You love my stretch marks? That place on my knee where the razor never seems to get? The freckles on my neck? You love all of it?”
“I love all of it, I worship it,” He gulped, Adams apple bobbing.
“Oh you do?” You straddled his lap, grinding into his crotch, pleasantly surprised to feel it already hardening. “Prove it.”
He flipped you over in the middle of the bed and held your hands above your head as he rolled his body into yours. He moved one had down your cheek, cupping your face as he lowered his lips to yours. His lips were plump and soft. He’d begun using your Chapstick every night before bed in an attempt to copy how soft your lips were. He’d grown accustomed to it and was pleasantly surprised when he left for tour and you’d given him the rest of the jar to use.
Namjoon used those lips to slowly suckle on your neck, moving towards the collar of your t-shirt.
“Start at the bottom,” You demanded, hands pulling at the hairs on the back of his neck. “And take your shirt off, slowly.”
He knelt at the end of the king-sized bed and removed his shirt in what you could only describe as a strip tease. He rolled his body and flexed his muscles, highlighting the work he had done in the gym.
           “Stop showing off.”
He froze and stared down at your clothed body before slowly laying down, hands moving to your hips.
“Pants only,” You stated, squirming at his cool touch on your hips. His hands guided the cotton of your joggers down your legs inch by inch. With every inch exposed, he placed sloppy kisses to your left thigh, his left hand kneading the supple skin. His teeth grazed over your knee, fingers tickling the erogenous zone behind your cap. He continued down your leg and paused at your feet, tickling the underside before slowly lowering his lips over your big toe.
Toes were a kink of Namjoon’s, specifically sucking your toes. He loved mimicking the motions of sucking your clit, swirling his tongue around the tip of your toes, hollowing his cheeks as he did so. You’d never been into toes before, having yours sucked or sucking others. But with Namjoon, it was always a pleasure.
He moved from your left foot to your right, slowly repeating the process in the reverse order, all the way back up your right leg.
“I love your thighs,” He said, massaging them in between kissing and sucking your inner thighs. “I love how they feel wrapped around my head. I love how they hold me to you when I’m fucking you. I love how they quiver and shake and when I do this,” He leaned his body up, pressing his lips to yours while slipping his fingers into your underwear. His index finger stroked up and down your folds, once, twice, three times before dipping into your center. His tongue simultaneously found its way past your lips, tangling aggressively with yours.
You moaned into his mouth while your tongues danced. Open mouthed and violent, you continued to kiss as he slipped two more fingers in. You turned your head to the side, chest heaving. His name slipping in between
           “Namjoon, please,”
“Please what?” He asked, a smug smirk on his face. His hand slowed down as he removed two of his fingers. His thumb, which had made its way to your clit, stopped circling as he stared at you, mouth open. “What do you want me to do?”
You snapped your head to him, eyes glowering.
“If you can’t make me cum, move and I will do it myself,” You said. “Or did you forget that you are worshiping my body?” He hadn’t noticed your free hand was gone from his hair until it twisted his nipple, eliciting a gasp and moan. “So if you think you can, take off my panties and prove it.”
Namjoon scrambled down your body again, removing your underwear and tossing it towards the hamper. His tongue licked up your folds before a hand moved to separate your lips. You spread your legs further, giving him better access to your sex. You arched your back as his tongue began to swirl around your clit. He alternated between sucking the bud and gliding his tongue over it in a figure eight, if a figure eight could be done in seconds and send your body to nirvana. Your free hands moved directly to your nipples, which stood at attention waiting for someone to bring them into the action. You pinched and twisted, trying to mimic the feeling Namjoon’s hands did.
You continued to moan his name, whimpering as he slowed down and sped up the minute your breathing seemed regulated. You had zero self-control when you were alone. Your vibrator could send you over the edge two, three times in one session. But it wasn’t the same as feeling Namjoon between you, the tongue he used to spit rhymes and whisper his love for you made his devouring of you even holier. He could edge you for days, months even. Teasing each other before he left for Korea, bringing each other close to the brink before he was gone touring for endless months. The pent-up tension made your reunion sweeter. Even when he edged you in the smallest sense, like tonight, made your release that much greater.
There was no magic number, no pattern to when he would bring you close and pull back. You’d tried to calculate it, tried to keep track how many times before he let you cum. All you’d discovered was Namjoon could be vindictive or repentant, kneeling at your altar and offering a sacrificial lamb or delivering you to Pontius Pilate.
He rode out your high by continuing to draw smaller figures over your clit, pushing you closer and closer towards overstimulation. When your grip had loosened in his hair, he sat back on his haunches and used the hem of his shirt to wipe his face before he pulled it over his head. He licked his lips quickly, humming as he tasted you again. You sat up, breathe returning to normal but heart rate still high, and tossed your shirt off, leaving your breasts bare. Namjoon reached into his shorts to stroke his clothed member while he finished sucking you off his digits.
“Did I say you could touch yourself?” You asked. He froze slowly taking his fingers out of his mouth.
           “No,” Blush painted his cheeks.
“So why are you?” You demanded.
           “I-
“You will be lucky if I let you cum near me.” You said.
           “I’m sorry,”
           “Don’t be sorry, fuck me.”
He pulled you onto your knees, lips entangling and hands gripping your ass. He bucked his hips against you, trying to find any sort of friction. He could feel the precum dampening his shorts and prayed you were only joking about letting him cum. He didn’t care if you made him jerk himself off, or allowed him to dry hump until he came in his pants, so long as he could cum.
“I love your breasts,” He mumbled, lightly kissing your neck before drawing his teeth across your collarbone. He moved one hand to twist your nipple, before laying you down and taking it in his mouth. His name spilled from your lips, your hips searching for his as your core tightened.
“I love how they feel in my hands. I love how they bounce when you ride my cock,” He moaned as you continued to grind into one another. He kept his pattern of drawing figure eights over your nipples, his hips still trying to gain traction with yours.
“Baby, please,” He whined, unwilling to cum in his shorts.
“Please what?” You asked, eyes glossed over.
“Please, can I fuck you?” He asked pressing his forehead against yours.
“Only if you come inside me, and you let my thick thighs hold you against me,” You said. He sat up and slid his shorts down, carelessly tossing them in the general direction of your own clothing. He moved to the top of the bed, back against the headboard, and beckoned you to sit in his lap.
“I want to worship you while you ride me, give you the attention you deserve,” He said attaching his lips to yours again. Gripping the headboard on the sides of his broad shoulders, you spread your thighs onto either side of his lap and slowly moved your lips against his dick, coating it with your fluids. “Fuck, I love when we don’t need lube,” He mumbled against your lips, kissing you hard. You had caged him in, mentally and physically, your arms and thighs working to hold his muscular frame into space. The anticipation of your cunt around him, the promise of cuming, and your dominance over him was the only thing keeping him from losing it. And it was beginning to not work.
You slowly lifted your hips, a hand moving from his cheek to his shaft, guiding him to you. As you slowly lowered yourself onto him, your eyes locked onto each other’s, both feeling like nirvana was close as he entered you. The stretch of him and the warmth of your core elicited curses and moans from both of your lips, mixing together into a sloppy kiss, teeth gnashing, tongues seeking each other out. He moaned your name, tightly closing his eyes and giving into your control. You pulsed your hips down onto his cock, moving up and down, an inch at a time.
“Baby,” He moaned, eyes already blissed out.
“Hmmm?” You teased. “You said you loved my body… Do you love how I control you? How my thick thighs hold you into place? Are you getting off on my stretch marks? How my body moves to fit you, big boy? How my workouts have given me the strength to take all of you, however I want?”
He knew your hundreds of Barre classes could be used against him, all the squats, strengthening your quads and back body. But you hadn’t ever used them like this, mimicking movements from class as you moved up and down him, slowly building his orgasm.
“I love all of you, every stretch mark, every roll, every part of you, fuck, you feel so good.” He was barely holding on. You had stroked his ego in just the right place and it caused him to start to buck his hips into you.
His eyes snapped open as you began to move more quickly, taking more than an inch of him at a time. His hands instinctively went to your ass, where he squeezed and spanked it, turning both cheeks red. He moved his lips from your collarbone to your nipples, sucking and teasing them.
“Namjoon, I need you,” You said, head lolling back as you felt your orgasm nearing. You needed more from him, more stimulation, a harder touch. He moved his mouth from your chest to your lips, and slipped a hand between your body’s, finding your clit instantly. He rubbed harsh circles as he felt you clench and tighten around him, calling out his name repeatedly, escalating in pitch and frequency as your orgasm reached its peak. You felt him twitch underneath you, moaning into your mouth as his orgasm came, overwhelming any sense he had left. He called your name as his thrusts up became sloppy and uneven. You rolled your hips a few more times, ensuring every drop of cum had made its way into your body, before rolling off of him and onto your back. He stayed seated, head against the headboard, chest rising and falling quickly as he tried to regulate his breath.
“I love your body,” He said, glancing down at you. You moved your arm off of your face and stared up at him.
“Thick thighs save lives,” You responded, smiling broadly at him.
“Don’t you for a second think that using fighting words about your body is ever going to work again.” He said, sliding down the bed and pulling you to his chest.
“Never say never, direct quote, Justin Bieber,” You said, still smiling. The blush and embarrassment of using your insecurities to wield power in the bedroom wasn’t something you did, ever. You felt instantly embarrassed that he’d recognized it.
“I’m serious,” His smile faded, his voice low.
“I know, Joon,” You nodded, closing your eyes as he leaned down to kiss your forehead. All was forgiven.
“Good, because I do love your body, so much. I can’t wait for the day when I get to watch you swell and grow because you’re carrying our baby,” Namjoon whispered, hand on your cheek. The sincerity in his eyes said enough: he loved your body at every size, every shape, for what it could do, and for what it already did.

Samsung Galaxy M10s Review
Tumblr media
Samsung has been a dependable player in the Indian market for ages now, and has been the first choice for a lot of users all along. While Chinese smartphone manufacturers have flooded the market with value-for-money smartphones of late, the Korean smartphone maker still finds buyers thanks to the brand it has built over the years. In order to compete in the sub-Rs. 10,000 segment, Samsung launched the Galaxy M10 earlier this year. While it was affordable by Samsung’s standards, it wasn’t very well equipped to take on the competition. Samsung has now launched an update to the Galaxy M10, aptly called the Galaxy M10s.
This new smartphone brings in a lot of improvements over the Galaxy M10 in the form of a fingerprint scanner, an AMOLED display, and more. Do these improvements make the Galaxy M10s more desirable? We review it to find out.
Samsung Galaxy M10s design
The Galaxy M10s shares the same design as the Galaxy M10 (Review), with the highlight being a big display with a waterdrop notch. Samsung has increased the size of the display, and it now measures 6.4 inches. It has thin bezels at the top and the sides though the bottom bezel is chunky in comparison. The waterdrop notch houses the selfie camera and has a tiny earpiece grille above it which is easy to miss thanks to its black finish.
Pick the phone up and you will notice that it is relatively light at 169g. The sides of the Galaxy M10s are curved which makes it comfortable to hold. It measures 7.8mm in thickness and packs in a 4,000mAh battery. All the buttons are on the right. We found the power button to be easy to reach but we can’t say the same about the volume buttons.
Tumblr media
Samsung Galaxy M10s sports a vivid AMOLED display
On the left, there’s a tray with two Nano-SIM slots and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. The Galaxy M10s has a secondary microphone at the top, while the primary microphone is at the bottom along with a USB Type-C port, the 3.5mm headphone jack, and the loudspeaker.
Samsung’s Galaxy M10 missed out on a fingerprint scanner, which was an unfortunate omission considering its price. The company has fixed that this time by offering one at the back of the Galaxy M10s. We found its position to be slightly too high for our liking but shuffling the phone helped reach it. This phone sports a dual-camera setup at the back with a single-LED flash below it.
Just like most other Galaxy M-series smartphones, the M10s sports a plastic back panel in order to keep costs down. We found it to be a fingerprint magnet, and no case is supplied in the box to help avoid this.
Samsung Galaxy M10s specifications and software
The Galaxy M10 had a weak processor, but the Galaxy M10s seems to have gotten an upgrade in the form of the Samsung Exynos 7884B. This is an octa-core processor with two ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and six more Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.35GHz. The Galaxy M10s is available in one configuration only, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, priced at Rs. 8,999. You’ll get around 22GB of storage free for use out of the box. You do get the option to expand storage by up to 512GB using a microSD card.
Samsung has opted for an AMOLED display for this sub-Rs. 9,000 smartphone, and it looks gorgeous. It has an HD+ (720×1560 pixels) resolution and good viewing angles, and it does get bright enough when outdoors. An AMOLED panel that looks this good isn’t common in this price segment, and you will enjoy viewing content on this smartphone. We weren’t happy with the bottom-firing speaker though, because it wasn’t loud and everything sounded tinny.
Tumblr media
The Samsung Galaxy M10s has a dedicated microSD card slot.
There is support for dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi, and three satellite navigation systems. Samsung ships a 15W charger in the box which is a good addition and helps charge the battery quickly.
Samsung ships the Galaxy M10s with OneUI 1.1 running on top of Android 9 Pie. Our unit was running the August security patch. We found Netflix, Snapchat, Amazon Shopping, Booking.com, Helo, Dailyhunt, and a few Microsoft apps preinstalled. While most of these apps can be uninstalled, Netflix could only be disabled. Dailyhunt and Helo can get spammy after they are launched for the first time, and we would recommend that you uninstall them right away if you don’t intend to use them.
Digital Wellbeing, an Android Pie feature which lets you track your device usage, is also available on the smartphone. There are a few gestures such as Smart Stay which keeps the display on as long as you are looking at it. You can pull down the notification shade by swiping down on the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Double-tap to wake is also available to quickly wake the phone. Sadly, there’s no Always-on display feature. Samsung could have baked that in to take full advantage of the AMOLED panel.
Samsung Galaxy M10s performance and battery life
Samsung’s Exynos 7884B SoC helps the Galaxy M10s deliver acceptable performance for basic tasks such as getting around the Android UI. We did sense a bit of weakness when loading apps, as the phone took longer than usual. The 3GB of RAM you get with this smartphone is decent enough for average users but if you constantly multitask between apps you will notice them terminating in the background. This increases the wait time as the weak processor starts loading these apps all over again.
Tumblr media
The Samsung Galaxy M10s sports a USB Type-C port.
Since many phones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 segment now have new processors such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, we were curious to see how the Exynos 7884B stacks up. In AnTuTu v8, the Galaxy M10s clocked 108,755 which is a lot lower than the 169,832 clocked by the Redmi Note 8 (Review) with its Snapdragon 655. Geekbench 5 also reported lower scores for the Galaxy M10s, with the device scoring 244 and 894 in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively. The Redmi Note 8 scored 314 and 1,327 scores in the same tests. Graphics benchmarks were decent though, with the Galaxy M10s scoring 31fps and 8.4fps in GFXBench’s T-Rex and Car Chase benchmarks respectively.
We played PUBG Mobile on the Galaxy M10s and the game defaulted to the medium settings. The graphics were set to Balanced and frame rate set to Medium. We did notice stutter while gaming, and the smartphone was slightly warm to the touch. We also played PUBG Mobile Lite which performed better and was playable without any noticeable lag.
The Galaxy M10s delivers good battery life. We had around 40 percent left at the end of a full day of usage which included running a few benchmarks, taking a couple of photos and videos, and using the smartphone for navigation using Google Maps. In our HD video loop test, the smartphone went on for 15 hours and 11 minutes which is decent for the price. The 15W supplied charger does come in handy as it took the phone to 28 percent in 30 minutes and to 60 percent in an hour. Completely charging the smartphone took over an hour and a half.
Samsung Galaxy M10s cameras
The Samsung Galaxy M10s sports a dual-camera setup. There’s a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture, and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture. It also has a single-LED flash positioned just below the camera module. For selfies, it has an 8-megapixel sensor positioned in the waterdrop notch.
Tumblr media
The Galaxy M10s has a dual-camera setup at the back.
The camera software is similar to what we’ve seen on recent Samsung M-series smartphones. Apart from the photo and video modes, it has Panorama, Pro and Live Focus modes to choose from. There is a quick toggle that lets you easily switch between the primary camera and the wide-angle one. There is AI which can recognise what the phone is pointed at and set the camera up accordingly. You can also quickly enable beautification and filters.
The primary camera of the Galaxy M10s performed well in daylight, for a phone at this price, and photos looked nice on the phone’s display. When we checked the photos on a computer we noticed that the dynamic range wasn’t great and colours appeared a little dull. Landscape shots taken in the day looked good but we noticed that the smartphone failed to capture minute details. We could also see grain on zooming in to the image. The wide-angle-camera does help capture a wide field of view but we noticed a loss in quality. Shots also had barrel distortion which warps everything at the edges.

Close-ups were a lot better but the smartphone took slightly longer to focus than we expected. Once it did lock focus, it delivered sharp output with a natural depth effect for the background.
Camera performance drops when shooting in low light. The smartphone takes a little time to meter scenes and lock focus. Photos lacked detail and big grains were visible on zooming in. Close-ups lacked detail and it wasn’t easy to get the phone to focus where we wanted it to.
Portraits taken in daylight had good edge detection and the Galaxy M10s lets you select the level of blur before taking the shot. In low-light, the output wasn’t sharp and grainy for our liking. Selfies have beautification enable by default and are good enough for the price but we did notice the performance dip in lowlight. Video recording maxes out at 1080p for the primary as well as the selfie shooter. It lacks stabilisation which resulted in shaky footage.
Verdict
The Galaxy M10s was launched at Rs. 8,999 in India and it is among the few smartphones that offer an AMOLED display at this price point. We like that it has a crisp display and is relatively light while still delivering good battery life. The bundled fast charger also lets youtop the smartphone up quickly. These are things that will impress buyers who want a simple, modern, affordable smartphone.
However, competition is brutal and the Galaxy M10s does not have a lot to offer in terms of performance. The Exynos processor is only good for simple tasks; throw anything heavy and it does stumble. Samsung also needs to put some more work into the cameras if it wants to dominate this segment. We don’t need lots of additional cameras, but improving low-light performance and bumping up the focus speed with software updates would help the Galaxy M10s immensely.
If you are looking specifically for a Samsung device on a budget, the Galaxy M10s will do just fine. However, you should also consider options such as the Realme 5 (Review) or the Redmi Note 7S (Review) at this price level. If you value battery life, then you could consider the Samsung Galaxy M30 (Review).

The Best Coffee Makers of 2020
There’s only so much you can expect from your old, out-of-date coffee maker. New models include features like automatic scheduling, infused coffee grounds, programming functions, and automated maintenance reminders. The best coffee makers of 2020 can make you a hot and tasty cup of coffee just the way you like it.
Here are our picks for the top coffee makers of the year.
At a glance
The best: Bonavita Connoisseur
Why we picked the Bonavita Connoisseur:
Possibly the last drip-coffee machine you’ll ever want to own, the Bonavita Connoisseur is an improvement over its already stellar predecessor, the BV1900TS. The Connoisseur takes up little more than a sliver of real estate in your kitchen with its incredibly compact design, which prevents it from sticking out like a sore thumb.
Aesthetics aside, this Bonavita model packs a serious punch, arguably producing the best cup of drip coffee you’ll ever taste. It does so by utilizing the underused process of pre-infusion, which wets the coffee grounds a few minutes before brewing. Pre-infusion allows for your coffee to extract evenly, producing a more consistent brew — and a hell of a good cup of coffee.
Moreover, the device’s thermal 8-cup carafe keeps the coffee piping hot for hours after the brew cycle completes. Compact, sleek, and efficient, this machine is the cream of the coffee-maker crop.
The best programmable coffee maker: Cuisinart DCC-3200
Why we picked the Cuisinart DCC-3200:
Cuisinart’s 14-cup DCC-3200 improves upon its predecessor in so many ways that its reasonable price tag is difficult to believe. The included water filter and permanent gold-tone filter ensure you’ll always get a clean pour and it even allows you to pause the maker mid-brew to pour yourself a quick cup, in case you’re short on time. If you’re low on time in the morning, you can leverage the coffee maker’s 24-hour programmability — so you can have that perfect cup of coffee ready as soon as you roll out of bed.
The feature-laden DCC also boasts adjustable brew strength, allowing you to make coffee that’s as rich or as watery as you want. In addition, self-cleaning capabilities and auto-shutoff timers make this one of the most convenient, versatile coffee rigs on the market. The 3200 features a revamped system that’ll simultaneously make hotter and better-tasting coffee, however, the only drawback is its relatively large countertop footprint — this guy isn’t terribly small.
One common complaint about the DCC-2650 was its glass carafe. Luckily, Cuisinart realized this as an issue and upgraded the DCC line to include double-walled insulated carafes. Now, your java never gets cold. Plus, the whole machine is BPA free, so no need to worry about harmful chemicals sneaking into your brew. All in all, the DCC-3200 is an admirable upgrade to an already excellent line of coffee makers.
The best coffee pot: Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew
Why we picked the Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew:
Consistency and efficiency go a long way in making a coffee maker stand out from the crowd, both of which Mr. Coffee’s Optimal Brew machine achieves with ease.
Outfitted with a stainless steel thermal carafe, the Optimal Brew keeps your beverage hotter than your average coffee maker. Moreover, the vacuum-insulated carafe keeps each pot hot regardless of whether it’s sitting within the machine or conveniently on your kitchen counter. Mr. Coffee also equipped the machine with a removable water reservoir, rendering the task of refilling the tank an absolute breeze.
Users can program the machine to brew at a set time each day, too, and choose from either normal or bold-brew cycles. Delicious coffee and a straightforward feature set simply can’t be had for a cheaper price.
The best single-cup coffee maker: Keurig K-Elite
Why we picked the Keurig K-Elite:
One of the most user-friendly coffee makers in our roundup, this Keurig model brews five different cup sizes quickly and quietly. The device has a 75-ounce reservoir, and you can brew eight or more cups of coffee before you have to refill the water. The machine also tells you when it’s time to descale, so you’ll always have the best-tasting cup of Joe.
With a sleek brushed display (comes in brushed silver, slate, or gold), the Keurig Elite looks like a high-quality machine that coordinates with your kitchen appliances. With features like a strong brew option for when you need an extra boost and an iced button to brew over ice, you can make a variety of different coffee, tea, cocoa, and iced beverage creations.
The best combo coffee/espresso machine: Mr. Coffee All-in-One Occasions
Why we picked the Mr. Coffee All-in-One Occasions:
The Occasions coffee maker manages to stay relatively compact while offering both coffee and espresso creations as needed. It has a 10-cup carafe for brewing traditional coffee, and also allows you to make a single pour for 6-, 8-, 10-, or 12-ounce cups. Then, in another mode and with a little platform, it can make two shots of espresso with a 15-bar strength pump. There’s also a built-in milk frother for creating lattes and such. It can even switch to K-Cups if you so desire.
There’s also some handy smart technology built into this model, including automatic mode switching based on the attachments that you’re using, automatic water dispensing based on your choices, and temperature control options. Yes, there are a lot of components to this coffee maker, but it can also do just about everything!
The best coffee maker for connoisseurs: Technivorm Moccamaster KBG
Why we picked the Technivorm Moccamaster KBG:
If you need to brew 10 cups of coffee fast–but still want to focus on coffee quality –then this Moccamaster model is the perfect fit. The 40-ounce carafe is just the right amount for 10 cups of coffee (well, normal-sized cups of coffee, make allowances for people who like extra-large portions), and the overall design of this beautiful coffee maker is made to facilitate ideal coffee heating and flavor.
The copper heating element keeps the water at an ideal temperature and can brew in only several minutes, while the nine-hole outlet arm allows for just the right amount of ground saturation. The hot plate is designed to keep the brewed coffee between 175 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit, making this model especially ideal for a busy office where everyone cares a lot about their coffee.
FAQs
How does a coffee maker work?
Coffee makers work by heating water and mixing it with coffee grinds. Single-cup makers use pre-portioned amounts of coffee grinds in a pre-made package (like a K-Cup pod). When you place the K-Cup in the machine and press start, the machine places a small pinhole in the K-Cup and then delivers hot water through pressurized hoses from the reservoir into the K-Cup, the water then mixes with the grinds, and then the coffee falls into your cup. Standard drip coffee makers also work by holding water in a reservoir. When you place a coffee grind-filled filter into your coffee maker to start making your Joe, the machine transfers the hot water through a tube and onto a perforated disc so it drips over the grinds to create coffee.
Can you use K-Cups in a regular coffee maker?
Sort of. You can empty the contents of a k-cup into a standard drip coffee maker filter, use the correct amount of water as directed on the packaging, and then brew a cup using a regular coffee maker. You typically cannot, however, just plop a K-Cup into a standard coffee maker and brew it as you would with a Keurig machine.
How many watts does a coffee maker use?
A typical coffee maker uses around 800 watts in about 10 minutes.
Are Keurig coffee makers safe?
Some people fear Keurig coffee makers can be hazardous to health because they can accumulate mold, and some also fear that Keurig machines or K-Cup pods may contain materials that can be harmful to health.
Keurig K-Cups are BPA-free and are generally considered safe. In terms of mold, all coffee makers must be cleaned and maintained for maximum safety and effectiveness. If you clean your coffee maker regularly, you shouldn’t have much to worry about. However, if you’re concerned about your machine’s safety, consult the manufacturer or the product manual for additional warnings and information.
The environmental impact is another question. Single-use coffee cups inherently involved a lot of wasted material. However, there are ways to be more environmentally friendly when using a K-Cup model, including looking for recyclable or compostable cups.
Do all coffee makers have an automatic shut off?
No. Not all coffee makers have an automatic shutoff feature, but most modern coffee makers do.
How often should you replace a coffee maker?
The lifespan of each coffee maker depends on the brand, how well you maintain the machine, and other factors. However, if you notice your machine is not brewing coffee well (even after cleaning), the coffee tastes bad, or if it’s having other issues with performance (shuts off randomly, doesn’t get hot enough, etc.), it’s probably time to replace your machine.
What temperature do coffee makers brew at?
Typically, between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit, although some coffee makers have wider temperature ranges so you can customize your brewing options. The Speciality Coffee Association of America says that best practices limit water temperature to around 200 degrees, plus or minus 5 degrees, so it’s no wonder that so many machines meet this qualification.
Can I make tea in a coffee maker?
Yes. But it’s a good idea to clean it first.
How does Digital Trends test coffee makers?
In many ways, coffee is a subjective experience. Some like it bold and piping hot, while others want a mild experience, in terms of both taste and temperature. When we test coffee makers, we take that into account and look at how customizable the process is.
Many people only care about a couple of things (other than the taste) when it comes to their coffee makers: Time and temperatures. We look at how hot the coffee gets while brewing and see if it falls within the range recommended by the National Coffee Association. We time how long it takes to brew a single cup and full pot. We also look at how hot the coffee is when it’s poured into the carafe and how well the carafe holds the brew’s temperature after two hours.
More subjectively, we look at the device’s design. Is it going to take up the whole counter? Will guests be able to stumble into the kitchen in the morning and get it going without having to Google the manual? Does the carafe slosh everywhere when you try to pour a cup? Usability is just as important as our benchmark tests.
What other things should I consider when purchasing a coffee maker?
If there was ever a time that the saying “spend money to save money” applied, it’s when picking out a coffee maker. If you’re used to buying your morning caffeine fix at a coffee shop once a week, this appliance will practically pay for itself in a few weeks.
Take some time to figure out what you need in a coffee maker before you make your purchase. Here are some questions you might want to consider:
Do you want your coffee quickly? Look for a brewer with a “pause brew” option or a coffee maker that can be scheduled to automatically brew at a specific time.
Do you refill your cup multiple times a day? Look for a coffee maker with an insulated carafe.
Do you prefer K-Cups or fresh grounds? While most coffee makers make you choose one or the other, there are some versatile options on the market.
Do you have limited counter space? Some of the best coffee makers come in small packages.
Are you brewing for yourself or for multiple people? Make sure to check the carafe size before your purchase.

Which is Packing More Heat in 2019 [Technologically and Economically]
After kicking off 2018 with a bang, cryptocurrencies tumbled like a house of cards by the end of the year. The fallout was so stark that the broader market ended losing more than $700 billion in market cap. All in all, it was nightmarish for investors worldwide.
That said, many have always remained bullish on the fundamentals that govern the asset class, especially when it comes to crypto/blockchain projects that have stood the test of time and are backed by a robust combination of steady technological progress and supportive communities.
Litecoin and Ethereum — the altcoins we’re going to zoom in on today both fit the bill on that front.
Both these assets have been around for a while now, and they usually exhibit some degree of stability — relatively speaking — as Bitcoin drags along the broader market while undergoing sharp fluctuations.
But are they currently in a position to bring some much-needed relief to the crypto community in 2019? Let’s find out.
Litecoin vs Ethereum: Which is Expected to Bounce Back Faster?
One of the oldest cryptocurrencies in circulation, Litecoin first came into existence in 2011 as a fork of Bitcoin under the MIT/X11 license. It’s currently the eighth most popular cryptocurrency with a market cap of just about $1.9 billion.
At the height of the crypto boom of 2017, Litecoin surged all the way up to $350 and more. However, more than a year of lingering slowdown later, it is currently valued at just about $32.
Price Market Cap Circulating Supply Litecoin ~$32 ~$1.9 billion 60+ M LTC Ethereum ~$117 ~$12 billion 104+M ETH
Ethereum is comparatively younger with its public release dating back to 2014.
However, because of a number of factors, including its uses beyond cryptocurrencies, it climbed up the crypto charts rather quickly and soon became the second most popular digital asset after Bitcoin by market cap. (Although, it is stuck on the third spot currently after being outperformed by XRP).
As of today, the price of Ethereum is hovering around $120, which is soul-crushingly low for someone who invested in the asset back in early January 2018 when the coin peaked at an all-time high of $1,400+.
That said, the million dollar question investors are currently asking is how long until Litecoin and Ethereum bounce back from this downward spiral.

Unfortunately, there are no signs of any immediate reprisal for either.
In fact, some observers are claiming that the odds are high that Litecoin and Ethereum could nosedive all the way down to ~$2 and ~$10 respectively in 2019.
However, keep in mind that most of these forecasts are purely speculative and are not backed by any verifiable/reliable method or data. You might want to take them with a pinch of salt.
A lot Depends on the Stability of the Broader Crypto Market
While it is possible that the broader crypto market will get hammered some more in the coming months, many investment experts are optimistic that 2019 is the year when crypto volatility will finally begin to subside. Institutional investors are expected to play a key role on that front.
Image: Crypto volatility in 2018 [Sourec: SFOX]
The Institutional Phase of Crypto may Have Already Started
There are several factors why many industry insiders believe that institutional investors are likely to flock to the crypto space in large numbers in 2019, including:
Regulators in a number of major economies are by now convinced that crypto is here to stay and therefore, preparing to introduce regulatory frameworks to oversee the sector.
The number of quality custodian solutions for digital assets is constantly on the rise.
The adoption of crypto futures, forward contracts, and derivatives are gaining momentum.
The odds are high that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will soon grant approval for a crypto ETF, opening the floodgate for others as well.
In fact, industry experts like Tom Surman (Director at Every capital) are of the view that the crypto space may have already quietly slipped into the institutional phase.
Surman’s assessment makes sense considering that a number of Wall Street heavyweights, including the likes of Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, and Blackrock, are already knee-deep in their own crypto/blockchain ventures. And here comes the interesting bit — in an industry known to be particularly prone to a herd mentality bias (read: monkey see, monkey do), the crypto ventures undertaken by these companies are believed to have already triggered a chain-reaction of similar initiatives by other institutional players.
Institutional Investors can help stabilize the market by “anchoring” market whales, controlling vast volumes of crypto holdings that can alter/distort crypto prices without any notable consequences.
However, unlike retail investors, institutional investors are not at liberty to manipulate the market on a large scale — especially since regulators will be there to scrutinize their every move.
Therefore, greater participation by institutional investors can actually benefit the market by stabilizing prices of major crypto assets.
Litecoin Prediction for 2019
There are a number of reasons to be optimistic about Litecoin’s outlook in 2019. But before we delve into that, let’s get a couple of things straight:
Bitcoin will, hands down, remain the most prominent digital asset for the foreseeable future.
The performance of the broader market in 2019, including that of Litecoin, will inherently depend on the performance of the most popular crypto in the world.
As prices stabilize in a largely-regulated crypto economy with a greater degree of participation by institutional investors, Bitcoin may witness a second wave of growth.
To quote Joel Kruger, currency-strategist at LMAX Exchange:
“[….] There is a tremendous potential that comes with decentralized, digital, peer to peer currency, and as we begin to see the possibilities more clearly, Bitcoin will regain its footing and get back to trading to the topside.”
“This leaves us with an outlook for Bitcoin in 2019 that could see a continuation of weakness in the first half of the year before the market finally stabilizes and starts to make its way back up in anticipation of what should be an impressive second wave for crypto assets.”
As always, any positive development in the Bitcoin network will directly lead to a surge in Litecoin’s performance. Not just because Bitcoin’s growth eventually trickles down to Litecoin, or for that matter, to all major cryptocurrencies, but also because of Bitcoin’s scalability issues.
When the market is bullish, and Bitcoin is steadily surging, the added traffic in the Bitcoin network usually clogs the system and leads to higher transaction fees. In such scenarios, Litecoin, with its quicker block time and lower transaction fees, will definitely draw a significant chunk of the usual Bitcoin traffic to its own network.
Moreover, because of its higher liquidity and faster transaction speed (2.5 minutes against Bitcoin’s 10 minutes), Litecoin is much suited for smaller transactions, which in turn, adds charm to its everyday usability, such as while buying groceries.
Other factors hinting towards an increased demand for Litecoin in 2019 include:
Mining Litecoin is (arguably) more convenient because of the new Proof of Work algorithm.
It is less volatile than most of the other major cryptos.
Users can easily atomic swap between Bitcoin and Litecoin.
Litecoin is compatible with the Lightning Network, which further adds to its speed.
Nearly all hardware wallets support it.
And finally, there will only ever be 84 million Litecoin tokens, of which more than 60 million tokens are already in circulation. This means Litecoin is a progressively becoming more scarce compared to, let’s say, Ether and most other cryptos.
Of course, we are still far off from witnessing Litecoin exhausting its supply cap, but that’s not stopping strategic investors from viewing it as a worthwhile long-term investment opportunity.
Ethereum Predictions for 2019
Ethereum has shed nearly 90% of its value year-on-year as of press time. That’s a whopping loss — perhaps the worst performance among all major virtual currencies since the current slowdown started.
On the brighter side, unlike Litecoin, Ethereum is not a cryptocurrency through and through. It also doubles as a platform that facilitates “smart contracts” powered by Ether, the native cryptocurrency element of the Ethereum network.
You can find more information on smart contracts in our detailed coverage of how Ethereum smart contracts work, but in short, Ethereum is currently the most popular smart contract platform around despite growing competition.
A large number of corporations and organizations use Ethereum smart contracts to create their own products. This demand is vital for Ethereum to retain the clout as one of the top-3 cryptos in the world. With increasing uses of the platform, it will gradually draw more and more movement, which in turn, will boost the price of the cryptocurrency as well.
Despite plummeting prices, 2019 is expected to be an exciting year for Ethereum. Especially considering that the widely-anticipated Constantinople hard fork will hit the sometime in late February 2019. Once that happens, the average block time will start surging and is likely to push the difficulty bomb to near about half-a-minute.
Another major development will be Ethereum 2.0 incorporating the Casper upgrade, the next-generation proof-of-stake algorithm in the network, as well as the addition of sharding.
In ConsenSys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin’s words, these finer details reflect the potential of the Ethereum network much better than market capitalization statistics do.
Market cap doesn’t reflect activity. Decentralized networks are growing.

— Joseph Lubin (@ethereumJoseph) December 1, 2018
Final Words
So that was a rough overview of some of the major developments investors can expect from Litecoin and Ethereum in 2019. As for price predictions, I intentionally avoided citing specific figures because making long-term predictions in the volatile crypto market is futile, and once again, it all depends on how long until the market stabilizes.
That said, the fundamentals are currently strong for both Litecoin and Ethereum, meaning when the market finally bounces back, both these coins will be there at the forefront of the next wave of growth along with Bitcoin.

Binary Options - Everything That an Investor Should Know About
Binary Options - Everything That an Investor Should Know About
Tumblr media
olymp trade Getting to Know Binary Options Binary Choices are not the same as stocks, bonds and mutual funds; even so, they are quite simple to understand. Rather than investing in a specific company (i.e. Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Exxon Mobile, etc.) someone who invests in binary options is basically betting on price changes in the price of particular choices. People who bet correctly will acquire a predetermined amount of money; people who take the wrong position will lose their entire investment. Binary option Investors can bet the value of a certain investment will either go up or down. What is more, they can also set a time range for the stock to achieve a certain low or high; this period range may be as short as one minute or as long as a full day or even an entire week. For Example, a binary options agent may consider a business stock that is currently valued at $20 per share and wager $100 that the price will probably rise to $20.50 or higher at the close of the day. In case the investor is right, he or she'll make a predetermined sum of money. If the investor is wrong, he or she'll lose the full $100 investment. Gains and Losses are not determined by just how"right" or"incorrect" an investor may be; this usually means that the investor may make exactly the identical amount of money if the stock in question is valued at $20.51 or $22.00. Additionally, an investor that bets erroneously will lose money no matter if the bet was off by a single cent or a couple of bucks. Kinds of Binary Options|} Binary Options can be traded inside the USA or on an global level. Alternately, some investors might opt to invest in both domestic and global options. International binary choices are formally categorized as being"exotic choices" by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. There are various Kinds of U.S.-based and International binary choices. Following is a synopsis of the various types and how they work. IQ Option Digital Options Digital Choices are the easiest and most popular kind of binary options. They are frequently called up/down options or call/put options only because an investor want only wager on whether the choices will rise above or drop below the active trading price within a certain time period. At the close of the time period, an investor will obtain an email stating that the current price of the options in question. Touch Options There are three types of touch choices. These are touch, no touch and dual touch. An Investor who bets on touch binary choices is gambling that the value of a specific option will grow up to or above a certain quantity. Purchasing no touch options only suggests that the buyer is betting that the value of a specific investment will fall to a certain level. A person who bets on double touch options places two different stakes on two distinct positions. Such an investor wins money if both of these positions is attained. All types of touch choices are purchased over the weekend And then traded throughout the week. Sixty Second Binary Options Sixty Second binary choices are basically the same as digital choices. The sole distinction is that an investor is betting that a particular stock will rise or drop in value within a sixty-second time period. Yet again, investors win or eliminate money based on the truth of the telephone, regardless of how much money was lost or gained. Boundary Options As The name suggests, investing in border options involves betting that a specific investment will remain within a specific price range for a specific amount of time. This price range could be narrow (i.e. between $17.00 and $17.50) or broad (i.e. $15.00 and $20.00). An investor wins cash in the event the options do really remain within the predetermined price range for the predetermined time period. Alternately, an investor May bet that the choices will proceed outside a predetermined border within a set time period. The buyer will then win money if the choices break out of the constraints, regardless of whether the choices have risen or fallen in value. Binary META The Binary META trading way is a bit more complicated than other forms of binary trading. Nevertheless, it is ideal in some ways because it provides investors more options than simply up and down betting. With Currency META trading, an investor can not just bet on the future value of a specific investment but also double the wager mid-way through the day. Otherwise, an investor can sell early when he or she sees that there is the possibility of the wager being wrong. How are Binary Options Traded? There Are a fair few sites offering binary trading choices. But, it is essential for investors to note that many of these sites are fraudulent in nature. The only safe sites for trading binary options are those that are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These contain the Nadex and Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). Those who are not registered with both of those bodies are not legally allowed to work with U.S.-based binary option investors. After A individual has determined which site or sites to work with, he or she will have to determine how much money should be invested in binary choices. A person can start trading with as little as $100, although professional traders might want to invest more than this sum. An investor will then need to Choose which choices to invest in. Those that are new to this field might want to start with binary choices, because these are the simplest to work with. On the other hand, experienced investors and/or those people who have a significant amount of money to utilize may wish to invest in more complex options and/or trade more than one choices type. It is also important to choose a |} Specific option and standing with care. Possible returns vary depending on which options one invests in and the position one takes on the investments in question. A person could exchange currency couple options, commodity options or a host of other options; however, an individual needs to only work with choices that he or she feels comfortable trading. Selecting The right position on those choices is just as important as choosing the ideal options in the first place. Because there are costs involved with trading various choices, the average investor would need to make the ideal call about 55 percent of their time in order to split on his or her investments. For this reason, it is essential to keep tabs on the location cost of various choices and remain abreast of information that could have an effect on the location cost of any investment. Doing this can increase one's accuracy level and thus enable a dealer to develop a tidy profit. The Pros and Cons of Working with Binary Options|} There Are many advantages of working with binary options. To start with, they are far simpler in nature than most other investment choices. A person who is investing in binary choices can usually do this without the need to employ a broker or dealer to handle the trading. In addition, in most cases a person is simply betting that a particular option will rise or fall in value; this is a lot simpler to do than assessing the future value of stocks, hedge funds and mutual funds. Investing in binary Choices is a field that's open to everybody as the minimum investment amount is very low. This makes it possible for people who have a limited budget to still invest money and turn a profit. The controlled Risk factor is just one more important benefit. With binary alternatives, someone won't ever lose more than the main he or she originally spent. This simple fact makes binary options much safer compared to other traditional investments. Furthermore, potential profits are also easy to determine as all these are spelled out clearly in the trading contract. However, Binary choices (like any other investment choice ) have its drawbacks and disadvantages. Perhaps the biggest disadvantage of trading binary options is that it is not easy to continually, accurately predict just how an investment will perform in just a brief period of time. While there are lots of news articles, blog posts and analyst predictions outlining how stocks will do over a short or long time period, there isn't much to go by when deciding whether a specific stock will rise or fall in value within a few minutes, hours or within the course of the day. Another Element that one Should Think about Before investing in Binary options is the requirement to"get it right" that the vast majority of the Time so as to turn a significant profit. As was outlined above, a Person has to make the ideal call more than half of the time in order to break even. Because of This, those who are investing in this market for The first time might want to do so slowly and start out with small sums Of money.

20 Fantasy Hockey Thoughts
Every Sunday until the start of the 2018-19 regular season, we'll share 20 Fantasy Thoughts from our writers at DobberHockey. These thoughts are curated from the past week's "Daily Ramblings".
Writers: Michael Clifford, Ian Gooding, Cam Robinson, and Dobber
  1. Will people still consider Nicklas Backstrom a premier asset heading into drafts this season? Last year, he was the 20th player off the board in Yahoo leagues. This was after he produced an 86-point campaign in 2016-17. That season, he played around 60 percent of his even-strength minutes next to Alexander Ovechkin. He produced 36 power-play points and hadn’t yet turned 30.
Heading into 2018-19, things aren’t so rosy. His production dipped to 71 points in 81 games. His power play production was the lowest per-game since 2010-11 and he’ll be 31 by the time puck drops this fall. His five-on-five time with Ovechkin was around 580 minutes – roughly the same percentage as the year prior.
The big playoff run will help ease some GMs concerns about taking the Swedish pivot early. However, the emergence of Evgeni Kuznetsov cannot be overlooked. The younger Russian played roughly 475 even-strength minutes with Ovechkin last season. But the two were connected at the hip down the stretch and throughout the playoffs. The results were fruitful.
Backstrom has proven to be a reliable performer. His ability to generate offense away from Ovechkin is admirable. However, it’s not at the same level it could be if he was consistently dishing the puck to this generation’s greatest goal scorer. With the extreme depth at the centre position, there’s no need to jump up and grab Backstrom in the first two rounds. Hell, I may even wait until closer to the 35-spot to take a swing on him. (aug11)
  2. One of the most underrated players of this generation, Blake Wheeler has been lethal on the power play for the Jets (having Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele helps). Can he replicate the 40 power-play points (!) he had last year? That’s a pretty tall task. Seems likely he comes down to the 75-80-point range he had been the previous couple seasons. Then again, there is a lot of talent on that top power-play unit. He has one year left on his deal and will be 33 years old for the 2019-2020 season. (aug7)
  3. Is anyone else a little concerned that Dallas Stars’ new bench boss, Jim Montgomery, will be inclined to split his top line to spread out the offense? We can assume at least one of Jamie Benn or Alex Radulov will get to live next to soon-to-be potential upcoming unrestricted free agent, Tyler Seguin, next season. But, will the other end up driving offense from the second line to help get Jason Spezza and company going?
The Stars top line produced 103 of the team’s 231 total goals. Seventy-three (73) of those goals came at even-strength, where the team scored 187 total goals. That’s 40 percent of the team’s offense during five-on-five play. Meanwhile, no other forward cusped the 20-goal or 35-point mark. The secondary scoring is non-existent in Big D.
It’s certainly a situation to watch carefully. Seguin will reap the best of everything as he’s the focal point of the attack down the middle. The team will also be looking to give him every reason to sign a massive extension before testing the market next July. Benn and/or Radulov could be seeing their even-strength production take a dip next season if they end up away from the top line. (aug11)
  4. How much does Shayne Gostisbehere’s value depend on Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek's ridiculous power play production? Giroux has a history of racking up massive production on the power play. Over the past five seasons, he’s averaged 34 points on the man-advantage. And his 168 total PPPs over that time are tied for most in the league with Nicklas Backstrom. Voracek has been a little more inconsistent, producing 23 power play points in three of the last five seasons. But, he's sprinkled in 33 in 2014-15 and 35 last season.
Gostisbehere saw his average powerplay deployment dip by 15 seconds per night last season. Yet, his power play production shot up from a previous career-high of 23 to the 33 he experienced last season. That result led all blueliners and has propelled him to being one of the best fantasy hockey blueliners out there.
For those who concern themselves with Ivan Provorov breathing down Gostisbehere's neck, don’t. Let's say the Flyers decided to promote Provorov to the top unit. The increase in his level of production would pale in comparison to the deficit that moving Gostisbehere off of it would cause. This is a Kevin Shattenkirk–Alex Pietrangelo situation all over again. The club will play their players to their strengths. That means Gostisbehere gets all the fun minutes and Provorov remains an all-around stud who is limited offensively due to his deployment. Until the Philly power play begins to show signs of slowing, Gostisbehere will remain an elite producer. (aug11)
  5. In case you’re wondering where Brady Tkachuk might fit in now, the Sens have a number of established NHL-level players at the left wing position. But, with the departure of Mike Hoffman, the Sens also lack a true top-liner at that position. So, Tkachuk could receive an opportunity to latch on to a scoring line right away.
It's anyone’s guess whether Tkachuk would stay in Ottawa for the full season or not. But it’s worth mentioning that brother Matthew went straight to the Flames right after being drafted and stayed the entire season. So, it’s possible that Brady is trying to follow the same path. But ultimately it will be the Senators’ decision. If the Sens are a Canadian tire fire again, then playing in London would be a better option for the 2018-19 season. (aug12)
  6. One left wing that Tkachuk will be battling for minutes with will be Ryan Dzingel. With all the turmoil in Ottawa last season (and stretching into the offseason), it’s easy to overlook the fact that Dzingel tied for the team lead in goals with 23. There’s lots to like with Dzingel as a potential deep sleeper. Not only is he playing for a contract, but he is also entering his fourth season (if you count his 30-game 2015-16 season). His production climbed as the season went on, which was at least partially due to his deployment with Matt Duchene later in the season.
At this point Dzingel might be the preferred choice on the top line while Tkachuk becomes accustomed to the NHL either this season or next. But long term, he’s probably keeping the seat warm for Tkachuk. In the meantime, you can have fun saying the name "Dzingel!" Doesn't it just roll off the tongue? (aug12)
  7. Dylan Larkin inked a five-year contract extension worth 6.1 million per season. That's a nice chunk of change coming to the 22-year-old. Larkin epitomized the dreaded sophomore slump in 2016-17. After taking the NHL by storm in the first half of his rookie campaign, things turned a little sour for the former University of Michigan standout. He witnessed a dip in goals, assists, points, shots, and time-on-ice. A great deal of that can be explained by his transition to the middle of the ice and the responsibility that comes with it.
The 2017-18 campaign was the re-emergence. He posted more than double his previous season point totals (31 to 63) and was a force at even-strength. His 53 points at five-on-five were good for 23rd in the league. Wedged between Steven Stamkos and Evgeni Kuznetsov. (aug11)
  8. I’ll be very interested to see what the Arizona Coyotes do with their top power-play unit this year. If we look at their PP line combinations from Frozen Tools, their three most-common PP lineups had three forwards and two defensemen. However, with the addition of Alex Galchenyuk and the hopeful emergence of Dylan Strome, as well as the lack of scoring talent down the lineup, it would make sense for the team to run a heavily-used four-forward top PP unit.
They could go with Galchenyuk-Clayton Keller–Derek Stepan-Strome-Oliver Ekman-Larsson and just play them 70 percent of the time. It would give them four lefties but that’s not really a huge issue. You can have Galchenyuk on his off-hand wall, Strome or Keller on their strong-side wall, the remaining forward and Stepan playing low/high in the slot with OEL on the point.
Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but it seems to me they finally have the offensive pieces necessary to run a very threatening top PP unit. Arizona was bottom-10 in five-on-four goals last year and if this team wants to earnestly push for a playoff spot, a boost on the PP would go a long way in helping. It’ll be curious to see what they run in exhibition games. (aug10)
  9. Eric Staal has been lights out for the Wild since they signed him, culminating with 42 goals last year, 11 of them on the power play. For reference, he had 12 power-play goal totals from 2014-2017 combined. He hadn’t cracked the double-digit goal mark on the PP since 2010-11.
Minnesota is a team that splits their power-play units to a degree which, as written above, is a concern. He shot 28.12 percent at five-on-four last year. If that comes down to 10 percent, or so, in 175 five-on-four minutes, that’s a huge crash in production. Just that loss in PP goal production alone would knock him down to 35-ish goals. I don’t think anyone expects him to repeat 42 goals again but just be aware of where the goal drop will come from. In leagues that count PP goals (or even PP points), it could be a double-whammy as the loss in production will likely come from the man-advantage side. (aug10)
  10. With the Sedin twins gone, there is presumably two open spots on Vancouver’s top power-play unit. Sven Baertschi signed a three-year deal with the Canucks and though they have some young guys coming up among their proven, top-end forwards, they have two. And one of them is a sophomore. Does Baertschi crack that top unit? There is Adam Gaudette, Elias Pettersson, and Jonathan Dahlen, but how many rookies do they want to put on PP1? Surely, Baertschi won’t shoot 30 percent at five-on-four again, but if he can manage to skate with Brock Boeser and Bo Horvat at 5v4 for most of the year, that extra ice time could mitigate some of the percentage drop. We’ll see. There are a lot of moving parts in Vancouver this year. (aug10)
  11. Ryan Johansen has a 33-goal season to his name, which was followed up with a 26-goal season. His last three seasons, though, have seen totals of 14, 14, and 15. His last two years have seen fewer total power-play goals (five) than either of his seasons with the Blue Jackets from 2013-2015. Now, when you skate with Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson, there really aren’t many shots left to go around and Johansen doesn’t need to be a scorer. That doesn’t mean he can’t pop a handful of power-play goals this year, though, especially if his five-on-four shooting percentage rebounds from a six-year low of 3.7 percent.
Again, Johansen isn’t a scorer now, and he doesn’t need to be. With a bit of good fortune at five-on-four, though, he could push for 20 total goals. That’s not overly impressive, but it’s better than what he’s done lately. (aug9)
  12. Once a prolific goal scorer on the power play, Bobby Ryan had just one PP goal last year and two the year before. When you look at just five-on-four power plays, he had zero goals in 2017-18 and two in 2016-17. That’s two goals at 5v4 over a span of 124 games and 302 power-play minutes. This is from a guy who once posted back-to-back double-digit 5v4 goal seasons.
Ryan’s hand injuries over the last few years are lengthy and well-documented. It’s a wonder if he’ll ever get over them again. With the exodus of talent in Ottawa of late, there should be a lot of PPTOI available for Ryan if he can stay healthy. And that is a big, big if. (aug9)
  13. Helen St. James covers the Red Wings and states that the team wants to be competitive this year, which reads as playoff aspirations to me. In that vein, she thinks Jimmy Howard’s starts could be reined in with the signing of Jonathan Bernier. Howard’s 57 starts in 2017-18 were the most for him since 2011-12 and largely due to the underperformance of anyone else they tried to use. If Bernier can perform at the level he did the last couple years, this could be a split-start situation rather than Howard starting 50-plus again. Even if Howard performs well, he could be a trade deadline casualty.
Though there’s nothing from management or coaching staff, she would like to see Filip Zadina play alongside Henrik Zetterberg if – IF – Zetterberg is healthy enough to play this year and Zadina makes the roster out of camp. Given that Zetterberg still possesses good playmaking abilities, this makes sense. There is a lot of time between now and the start of the season, though, so this is obviously just speculation for now. (aug9)
  14. Though there’s no official update on Ryan Suter’s status, Minnesota Wild beat reporter Michael Russo said he talked to Suter and recent scans on his ankle/foot came back clean and he’s been doing very light on-ice work. Suter’s expectation is that he will be ready for training camp. Now, what an athlete believes and what actually happens are often two very different things but that’s what we have for now.
Russo also believes we could see Nino Niederreiter on the third line this year. He says Bruce Boudreau wants to be able to throw three scoring lines at the opposition and that means there’s going to be a very skilled player on the third line. That might be Niederreiter. In which case, it’s a downgrade. No offense to Joel Eriksson Ek but he’s not Eric Staal. If Nino has third-line minutes and split power play time, returning to his 57-point performance in 2016-17 will be tough to accomplish. He also had Charlie Coyle on that third line as well, which kind of makes sense if you want to balance things out. (aug9)
  15. For anyone concerned about Vladimir Tarasenko’s off-season surgery, there was some news that came out late Monday night in that regard. Long story short, there shouldn’t be much to worry about from one of the league’s elite snipers.
Months ago, I wrote in these Ramblings about how he could be a bounce-back candidate. That was before the shoulder injury, but I still stand by it. His average draft position (ADP), as it does with all players, will ultimately determine how much value he can return, but the revamped lineup with some natural progression from last year makes me a believer.
As with all returning injured players, though, there’s always risk attached. It’s up to the individual fantasy player how much, or how little, risk you want to assume in the draft. Every player has injury potential but one of the better indicators of future injury is prior injury. Tarasenko coming off long-term shoulder injury obviously fits that bill. If you’re really concerned about a second- or third-round pick only playing 65 games then he can be avoided. Again, each fantasy owner is unique so the decision is ultimately up to the individual owner. (aug8)
  16. I remember a week ago (or so) that fellow writer Cam Robinson was on Twitter discussing Jake Guentzel and his hopes that he would see top PP minutes this year. As a Guentzel owner in multiple keeper leagues, nothing would delight me more. Patric Hornqvist’s proficiency on the power play, however, is going to be a big stumbling block. He does a very good job at playing that Wayne Simmonds-type role around the net and Guentzel is more of a slot shooter like T.J. Oshie. Guentzel isn’t going to replace any of the other forwards, so it’s hard to see him getting consistent top PP minutes without someone suffering an injury. (aug7)
  17. Sam Reinhart is going into his fourth season (something we love around here at DobberHockey), will almost certainly play on Jack Eichel’s wing (good spot to be), and is going to be on the top PP unit again. How the team fares without Ryan O’Reilly or Evander Kane in the fold is another story but the ice time and quality linemates should be there for Reinhart. Will a true breakout follow? (aug7)
  18. The John Gibson signing – already discussed at length (by Ian Gooding here) but I’ll chime in – was a good cap hit for the Ducks, of course, given his consistent top save percentage. But, eight years is a risk given his injury history. He had always been a little under-ranked as a prospect goaltender on my list because he was injury prone. And this was before he stepped a skate onto NHL ice!
– 2014-15: He missed the middle of the season with a groin injury – 21 games; – 2015 playoffs: Missed seven games with a UBI; – 2015-16: Missed two games with a UBI; – 2016-17: Thirteen (13) games with a LBI (two injuries, or the same one twice, I don’t know); – 2017 playoffs: He missed the last game with an LBI and then had all summer to heal, so who knows how much time he would have missed; – 2017-18: Missed one game (concussion), four games (LBI), three more games (LBI), three more games (UBI).
In four seasons in the NHL, Gibson has sustained nine injuries after having a reputation as being injury-prone well before he even turned pro. And now he’s locked in for eight years. Good luck, Anaheim! Hope it pans out for you and he stays healthy. If so, it’s a steal. (aug6)
  19. While looking at the Ducks, Jakob Silfverberg popped out at me because he’s an unrestricted free agent next summer. Here’s a guy in his mid-20s who possesses more offensive talent then he’s shown and is under-used offensively because he’s so good defensively. Players like him always surprise in a UFA contract year – Josh Bailey and Evander Kane sure did it last year. The latter two had expected production of 50 points and they certainly exceeded that. Silfverberg is in that ballpark, too. Kevin Hayes another one. In fact, I’m just going to list the guys I think best fit this mold as I go through Cap Friendly. In no particular order: Silfverberg, Hayes, Derick Brassard, Gustav Nyquist, Marcus Johansson, Richard Panik, Joonas Donskoi.
The latter two names would be pushing the term ‘breakout’ but if they get into the high-50s, I’d call that a contract year. Jeff Skinner isn’t on this list because he’s already had huge seasons. But, I’m willing to bet two or three of the above players really surprise us in a good way. (aug6)
  20. Did William Karlsson just sign the same contract that Kevin Hayes signed? That’s pretty nuts. Yeah, I know, it’s the ‘only one year’ thing…but okay, take two years then. Karlsson had 103 points in two years to Hayes at 93 and he’s a year younger and scored 49 goals to 42 (game winners he’s up 9-8, too). I think Vegas got a bit of a deal there but at the expense of possibly getting taken to the cleaners next summer. But the Rangers? They overpaid Hayes just a little and they let him become unrestricted at the end of it, too. You’d think they’d get a discount from his agent for helping him do that. (aug6)
  Have a good week, folks!!

What Did We Learn About the 76ers this Weekend?
This post is brought to you with limited advertising and no surveys by I Do and I Will. Did you know the average wedding costs $35,329? What if there was a company that could help save couples 10%-20% on theirs? I Do and I Will has formed partnerships with leading companies such as Vera Wang, Southwest Airlines, Macy’s, Yacht Week, Visa, Sephora, and more to do just that. Check them out at the Bridal and Wedding Expo at the Valley Forge Convention Center on April 15 to find out more about their services.
I guess we could start by saying that the Hawks and Hornets aren’t very good.
One team is 34 and 44, the other is 22 and 55, and neither is going to the playoffs.
But the Sixers played both on the road, first beating Atlanta in Atlanta by double digits without Joel Embiid. Then they turned it around for a quirky 1 p.m. Sunday game in Charlotte without Embiid and Dario Saric, winning by an even bigger margin.
That has to count for something, right? This team took out the trash on the road while short-handed, which is what great teams do.
Ben Simmons
He put up 13, 12, and 11 on Friday night followed by 20, 8, and 15 yesterday afternoon. Add 4 blocks, 4 steals, and just three turnovers, and that’s a pair of lines that will win you games.
Simmons has compiled 60 assists over the last five games against a total of just 12 turnovers, so when you calculate his assist/TO margin, he’s pulling a flat 5 number. That’s well above his season average of 2.39 and also eclipses Spencer Dinwiddie’s league-leading 4.24 mark. In more simple terms, he’s just slinging the basketball around with incredible efficiency since the calendar hit “spring,” which is funny to me since it’s snowing outside.
And it’s not like Simmons is getting a ton of bogus assists on dribble hand-offs or easy dump off passes, he’s putting up that A/TO while trying high-degree difficulty stuff like this:
You can’t name 10 guys in the world who run the fast break better than Ben Simmons, my goodness. pic.twitter.com/1FkFrGzGWP
— Kermit (@HeyItsKermit_) March 31, 2018
And that’s one reason why I think the Sixers’ turnover issue is overblown. You connect on that pass and it’s ambitious, highlight-reel stuff. You miss, it’s an awful turnover. There’s just a higher degree of risk/reward when it comes to some of the passes the Sixers are throwing, which is responsible somewhat for their turnover issue. Obviously that doesn’t take into account Joel Embiid losing the handle or the stepping out of bounds that seems to happen at least once per game, things that have nothing to do with passing the ball.
That said:
Turnovers
They’re still happening.
Even in ten straight wins, this is what it looks like:
They went for a season low of five turnovers in the Brooklyn win, then coughed it up more than 15 times in four of the next five games, all wins.
So they’re 10-0 dating back to March 15th with 14.2 turnovers per game. Seems like a lot, but that number actually puts you right in the middle of the league, 16th place between Miami and Oklahoma City. The Sixers are still the worst turnover team in the NBA, but it’s not affecting the win/loss column at all, and they’ve steadily driven that number down to something manageable over the past two months.
More importantly, they’re playing good defense, shooting the ball well, and compensating in other areas, which is what they’ve done all year long.
The bench
Does Bryan Colangelo get any credit for bringing in Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova or nah?
I asked that question on Twitter Sunday, sort of a rhetorical query for people who are down on the Sixers’ general manager. On one hand, these are easy, post-deadline acquisitions that didn’t require the loss of resources. On the other hand, you could say these guys simply wanted to come play with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
“They chose us.”
Really, then, do you give Colangelo props for boosting the Sixers bench, or not?
No. He did nothing other than pick up the phone. Give him credit for drafting Fultz. Oh wait he traded a pick when he could have stayed at three. He gets credit for JJ, Amir, and my favorite Bayless. Are you impressed yet?
— philly fan. (@jcallan27) April 1, 2018
Hard to argue with that.
Another one:
Yes. They have improved the team depth quite a bit. I don't think they were really genius GM moves, but he gets credit.
— Rob Zane (@zaner28) April 1, 2018
And this:
No, They were both released from their previous team and it didn’t cost them anything. Both are better than what they had. Adding both was a no-brainer.
— The Lion King (@TTP_ThatsMe) April 2, 2018
The overwhelming thing with Colangelo is that everything he’s done has seemed to be… how would I say it…
….I guess everything he’s done – all of the positive things – were pretty obvious and straightforward. Need a veteran shooter? Sign Redick for 22 million. Need another veteran shooter? Go get Marco Belinelli for free. Trevor Booker not cutting it for you? Go get Ersan Ilyasova for free.
Beyond that, I think everything he does, anything super meaningful, is always going to be met with this line of thinking:
“Well, did Paul George come to Philly because of Bryan Colangelo? No, he came to play alongside Embiid and Simmons.”
“Well, did Redick take a pay cut because of Colangelo? No, he took one because he likes playing for Brett Brown.”
“Well, did the Sixers become relevant because of Colangelo? No, that was Sam Hinkie’s doing.”
Know what I’m saying?
I don’t know how much credit BC does or doesn’t deserve, but he’s going to be dogged with those kinds of qualifiers for however long he’s in charge. His job is to take what Hinkie did and get the Sixers to the finish line, and his Philadelphia stint will always be judged as complementary to what Hinkie put in place.
Whether or not you want to applaud the Ilyasova and Belinelli additions, their contributions are undeniable. They went for a combined 38 points on Sunday and 32 points on Friday.
Belinelli is currently shooting at his highest marks dating back to his first San Antonio season:
Not bad.
And Ilyasova is giving you 9.9 and 5.6 off the bench with the ability to step in for Dario Saric as a similarly-skilled power forward, putting up 16 Sunday in a starting role.
Long gone are the days of Jerryd Bayless and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot junking up the bench, and even if Bryan Colangelo is the one who put that bench together in the first place, at least he got it fixed without giving up any assets, unless you want to loop in the Booker trade, which was more about getting rid of Jahlil Okafor and Nik Stauskas.
We’ll see what happens this summer before passing ultimate judgment on the GM.
Amir and Richaun
Getting the job done.
Brown played it exactly how I thought he would on Sunday, starting Amir Johnson and handing him 17-20 minutes, then letting Richaun Holmes play a bigger chunk off the bench while using Saric and Ilyasova as that 5/4 combination.
It didn’t work that way yesterday because of Saric’s absence, so Johnson was asked to play 31 minutes in a starting role and Holmes was given 17 off the bench.
As soon as Saric comes back, I think you’re looking at the former being the case again. Assuming Dario can go tomorrow against Brooklyn, I think it’s high-teens minutes for Amir, 20 or so for Richaun, then show your smaller lineup in the third and fourth quarter. The Nets shouldn’t present much difficulty at home, but you’ve got a tricky back-to-back in Detroit the following night.
I don’t really see the big deal with the Johnson vs. Holmes debate right now. They like Amir’s defense and veteran savvy. Holmes is the better offensive player. With Embiid out, you’ve got meaningful minutes for both players, and when you move on from Amir and his $11 million in the summer, Holmes steps in to be Joel’s backup next year.
Richaun has played 623 minutes this season, so it’s not like he’s been glued to the pine for the entire year. He’s been squeezed out of the rotation for chunks at a time, but nothing that I think is hindering his development or growth. When next year rolls around, he theoretically takes on a more meaningful role while hopefully improving his contributions on the defensive end.
So what did we learn from two rather pedestrian wins?
I think Ben Simmons is your (obvious) rookie of the year, this team has depth for the first time in a long time, and they’re handling the cupcakes in business-like fashion.

Pitchers Need to DO WORK!!
I recently wrote about jogging, and how it did nothing to prepare an athlete for an anaerobic based sport.  Strength Coach Joe Meglio (from The Underground Strength Gym) echoed my sentiments in his own article, and went on to point out how it applies to pitchers.  Running polls to condition a pitcher for the endurance necessary to throw 7-9 innings is a misguided effort.  Of all the major sports, baseball seems to be the one that is the most resistant to change.  It’s a fine line between being a traditionalist and just being close-minded.  This is especially true when it comes to the topic of strength and conditioning for sports.  It is hard to argue with the fact that modern era athletes are bigger, stronger, and faster than their predecessors.  And despite Mr. Baseball’s words to the contrary, this includes baseball players.  So if athletes are so much better than they were in the past, what happened to the complete game?  Why can’t the modern pitcher finish what he starts?  Did you know that as recently as 1974 the percentage of complete games was 28%.  Just ten years later in 1984 the percentage was cut almost in half to 15%.  Contrast that with the 2009 MLB season where that percentage hit a new low of 3.1%.  Does that sound like progress to you?!  Me either.
I know there are many factors at play here. The 5 man rotation, the new prominence of “The Closer”, and even the invention “The Setup Man” have effected starter’s innings.  More specifically expansion has completely diluted the pitching ranks.  Very rarely do starting pitching staffs have more than 3 quality starters out of 5.  Case and point, the NY Yankees were so desperate they threw enough money at Bartolo Colon to convince him to put his competitive eating career on hold, and give up the glitz and glamour of the Mexican league to come to Spring Training.  If the Yankees of all teams are looking at 37 year old, 300lb men that haven’t pitched in the league since 2009, what does that tell you about the talent that’s available?  Maybe I should drive down to Tampa, and see if my 85mph “heater” can wow some people.
Now it’s hard to know if fewer quality starting pitchers have increased the need for a good bullpen, or if pitchers that in the past would be starters are now being converted to relievers.  Either way, just look at the top pitchers in the Major League.  CC Sabathia threw a total of 10 complete games in the 2008 season for the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the first pitcher to reach double digits in a single season since Randy Johnson threw twelve complete games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1999.  In the 2010 season, out of roughly 150 starting pitchers in the majors, only 35 pitchers had ONE COMPLETE GAME!  WHY?!
With all the advances in training and science, why are pitchers logging fewer and fewer innings?!  Quite simply, it is caused by the pitchers ever decreasing “workload”, and I use the term work lightly.  Consider the fact that it takes an average of 3 seconds to physically throw a pitch.  And for some reason Major League clubs, despite evidence to the contrary; have accepted that the human body can only throw 100 quality pitches in a game.  Add in the two 50 pitch bullpens, for a total of 200 pitches every 5 days.  Do the math, those 200 pitches equal roughly 10 minutes of actual physical exertion over the course of 5 days.  Combine that with their completely senseless running of polls for endurance as well as other conditioning work, and a starting pitcher does less work in a week than a manual laborer does in an hour or two.  See why the term workload amuses me?!  And then very smart baseball minds wonder why pitchers fatigue in games, and late in the season.  That same pitcher, barring injury will hopefully get 34 starts during the season.  In those 34 starts he will hopefully throw 100 pitches.  That’s 3400 pitches.  Add in the two 50 pitch bullpens between starts, and you have 6800 pitches.  If each pitch takes 3 seconds to complete, a typical starting pitcher will do 5.5 hours of actual game time “work” for the ENTIRE SEASON.
So what is the answer?!  How does any other athlete increase their abilities?  They practice more.  After a particularly disappointing loss, Kobe Bryant recently stayed after the game to practice his shooting.  He shot, and shot, and shot.  He kept shooting until they turned the lights out.  So why do pitchers only throw 100 total pitches between starts?  We all realize that the overhand throwing motion is completely unnatural; pitch counts and bullpen limits have been put in place to reduce arm injuries.  So what happens when the arm injuries continue?  Do we drop the pitch counts even more, and eliminate bullpen sessions all together?!  In 1974 Nolan Ryan pitched a 13 inning game and threw over 200 pitches.  Surprisingly enough his arm didn’t spontaneously combust, and he pitched for another 20 years after that.  Now obviously your first reaction is that Nolan Ryan is a freak of nature that still could bring the heat well into his 40s.  There may be something to that.  He also was one of the hardest working, best conditioned pitchers to ever toe the rubber.  John Kruk aside, aren’t all Professional Athletes freaks of nature to one extent or another?  Japanese pitchers routinely throw 100-150 pitch bullpens.  Matsuzaka turned heads when he first came to Boston throwing 100+ pitch bullpens.  Even Korean little leaguers typically throw 200-400 pitches a day.  That’s right, a day and they aren’t getting millions of dollars to do it either.  Are we to assume that the far East consists of freaks of nature?  I know that’s where Godzilla came from, but I never saw his fastball.
Baseball is all about history and numbers, and the numbers show that the human body is capable of throwing a baseball more than 200 times in a 5 day period.  There even is modern proof of this in other parts of the world.  So why have Major League teams imposed these limits on pitchers?  They want to prevent injury, and get a better return on investment from their high dollar arms.  It’s a noble goal, so why are the best and brightest conditioning/pitching coaches doing it wrong?!  Are they really that afraid to rock the boat?  With the invention of youtube and flipcams, pitching coaches don’t even have to hop on a plane to see pitchers all over the world throwing 2 to 3 times as many pitches in a week as our stars.  Do you really think that El Duque and all the other stars from the Dominican Republic, with questionable dates of birth, thought the best way to get off the island was to only throw 200 pitches a week?!  Doubtful.
It seems counterintuitive, but pitchers should throw MORE to prevent injuries.  Limiting workload for pitchers actually diminishes the capacity of their arm.  It is similar to a weekend warrior that plays half court basketball twice a week, and then tries to run full court.  They are gassed pretty quickly, and are more likely to pull a muscle in their exhausted state.  If they were actually in shape to run full court, then it would be no problem.  If pitchers increased their pitch count between starts, and actually got their arms in shape…the game itself would be no problem.  Instead of 100 pitches between starts, they should build up to 200 to 300.  How much better shape do you think their arm would be in then?  Even if you left the game pitch count in place, after throwing a couple 100 pitch bullpens; the 95th pitch in their game would be a lot crisper.
With all the reduction in workload for today’s pitcher have injuries really decreased that much?  With spring training in full swing it seems like every day we hear about another pitcher getting hurt.  Even the casual fan has heard of Tommy John Surgery at this point.  As Americans we are prideful, and we believe that Major League Baseball is the best baseball on the planet.  Case and point, it’s called the World Series even though only two countries are represented.  Ok only one; since we all know Toronto hasn’t been relevant since Joe Carter stuck a dagger in Mitch Williams heart.  So if MLB is the best of the best, then why are our pitchers the worst conditioned athletes in sports?!  Ok ok, second worst, I saw John Daly hitting golf balls with his shirt off too.  Pitchers are the worst conditioned athletes because they do the least amount of work.  Their workload is similar to that of a weekend warrior, and we all know weekend warriors are good at two things….drinking beer, and getting hurt.  Not to mention watching NL pitchers try to hit is like watching a baby giraffe being born.  What do these guy do all day at “practice”?!
Pitching generally wins championships, and major league clubs are always desperate to find quality arms.  I know that expansion has depleted the talent pool, but perhaps the lack of good arms is a direct result of organizations not developing them properly.  Baseball pitchers are unique in that they generally only play every 5 days.  There is no reason that they cannot increase their work capacity DURING the season.  The baseball season is long.  It is extremely difficult to get into shape that will last into October and hopefully November in just a few weeks during the spring.  Unfortunately, positional players can’t really do much about it, they are playing every day so all their baseball workouts can try to do is maintain.  Bats get tired as the season drags on.  Starting pitchers should get stronger as the season goes on.  They pitch just over once per week.  Major League pitching coaches need to realize that by limiting the pitchers workload they are limiting their work capacity.
If you want to see less arm injuries and better pitching in the Major Leagues, pitchers should throw MORE, not less.  Throwing two 50 pitch bullpen between starts is not the answer.  That would be like running a mile on Monday, a mile on Wednesday, to get ready for 3 miles on Friday.  It doesn’t make sense.  It is time for pitching coaches to open their eyes to the world around them, and realize there is a better way.  Increasing pitchers workload will in turn increase their work capacity.  They will be in better shape to perform the task at hand.  Athletes in better shape get injured less.  If every Major League pitcher double or tripled their practice pitches between starts, how much better would they become at their craft?  How long before there were enough quality arms to accommodate baseballs expansion?  Current Major League pitchers are capable of this incredible workload right now; if baseball could get over its fear of progress.  So why are they reluctant to change?  Baseball always has been stubborn.  All I know is that if you want to get better at something, less work is never the answer.

Trade Management & Repair Class
Cent Stock Trading EducationThe most essential thing for active traders, then, is to evaluate their deal history for a three month period and see if they carry out more than 300 trades approximately. If the answer is yes, then E * Trade is going to be the finest penny stock broker for you, strictly based upon the volume discounts.

Is an indication used to identify modifications in the strength, direction, momentum, and period of a trend in an instrument's cost. This sign was established by Gerald Appel in the late 1970s. The MACD is a calculation of the difference between 2 EMAs (rapid moving averages) of closing prices.
Online Stock Trading Education For Beginners
Exactly what makes matters even worse is that when you take a look at a chart of these penny stocks, it is difficult to find the high quality zones required in order to increase the possibility for making loan in the markets. Before you move on to the next chapter in this guide, take a couple of minutes to brainstorm what it is you want to accomplish with your cent stock trading. Many brokers charge you additional to invest in low-cost stocks, or to put big block orders. Not all "cent stocks" trade for a penny a share. Knowing this ratio number can help you to know penny stocks that are trading under value from those that are over value. You do not wish to buy penny stocks that are presently trading over worth, otherwise you put your money at the best threat.
Cent stock investing is everything about discovering the best stocks at the most affordable cost, so you can't manage to sustain big-time fees and commissions. Charles Schwab provides the lowest standard rates on cent stock trading, and has a transparent rates structure that makes it the very best alternative for just about everybody. The only way to get even lower costs would be to utilize E * Trade and make the most of its volume discount rates.
Stock Exchange Options Trading Education
When going long, investors buy stocks with the anticipation that their costs will increase over a long duration of time. Unless you're a pessimist, this is an excellent way of buying cent stocks since Todd Rampe it can produce returns in between 30% and 70%. Alphatrends.net suggests purchasing now and then awaiting the share price to value down the road, as the majority of financiers sites.google.com/view/todd-rampe do. That populist approach to investing is quite in the DNA of Charles Schwab today. Wish to find out about, say, exchange traded funds? Then examine out the tons of articles, videos, and https://www.facebook.com/academydaytrading on-demand courses in the Learning Center. There also might be a seminar available at a brick-and-mortar Charles Schwab branch near you, which you can participate in free of charge as an account holder. That type of individual attention simply isn't there from other online-only platforms. When you're all set to position your very first ETF trade, Schwab ETF OneSource provides 200 commission-free ETFs to allow you to mess around in these funds in an affordable method, even as you trade penny stocks. This is simply one example of how having a big broker like Schwab in your corner can open doors to brand-new trading techniques as you discover and grow as a financier.

Reasonable Volume Restrictions: If you find a stock you like trading for 1 cent and wish to invest $1,000, you'll be acquiring 100,000 shares. That implies any broker that either charges you for large trades or insists you break them up into multiple orders is not favorable to penny stock investing. I firmly insisted platforms enable block orders of more than 1 million shares to be based on additional fees-- indicating you can invest $9,999.99 in that 1-cent financial investment by means of a single deal and not get dinged. That's plenty for many investors.
Stock Trading Education
Let's state you perform 500 deals in the quarter for about 50,000 shares each. That amounts to about a $500 transaction around a stock trading for 1 cent, so we're talking a lot of modest trades and not six-figure investments.

Cancer Genetics, Inc. (CGIX) topped out at $23.25 in 2013 and ground sideways into a 2014 breakdown that accelerated into the 2nd half of 2016, dropping the stock to an all-time low at $1.10. It turned higher into 2017, lifting above the 200-day EMA and reaching a 17-month high at $5.30 in March. Rate action because that time has sculpted a long series of lower highs, creating a trendline with resistance at $3.90. A breakout will target the 2017 high while a rally above that level sets the phase for quick gains that might eventually reach double digits.

The penny stocks used as examples in this post were chosen since they were found as "hot stocks," on a penny stock website. If you were thinking, "Well, these stocks look awful; I might simply short them and generate income," you would be mistaken. Even https://sites.google.com/view/todd-rampe/home if you happened to find a great zone, existing SEC policies prohibit the shorting of cent stocks.

Whatever your technique, do not let the allure of big earnings deceive you into just spending for a whim. Otherwise, you could discover yourself on the incorrect side of among these scams, with scammers making millions, and you losing all your money. Not all "penny stocks" trade for a penny a share. Penny stock investing is all about discovering the best stocks at the lowest cost, so you can't manage to sustain big-time fees and commissions. When you're prepared to put your very first ETF trade, Schwab ETF OneSource provides 200 commission-free ETFs to permit you to dabble in these funds in a cost-efficient method, even as you trade penny stocks. That suggests any broker that either charges you for large trades or insists you break them up into numerous orders is not conducive to penny stock investing. The cent stocks utilized as examples in this post were picked because they were discovered as "hot stocks," on a penny stock site.

The Betterment Story
Betterment was founded in 2008 by Jon Stein, who still serves as CEO. The company launched in 2010 after a big debut at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC. Betterment quickly scored $3 million in funding and has enjoyed steady growth ever since. Today, Betterment has more than 150,000 users, and manages more than $4 Billion. The press has been kind to Betterment, and you’ve likely seen glowing reviews in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and CNN. Betterment’s portfolio results have proved that this is more than hype. Almost a decade from its inception, Betterment is here to stay, and they’re a major player that’s bringing a new generation into intelligent stock market investment.
  Betterment’s Methods
Better Investment Performance: Independent investment managers usually charge more than 1% annually, and often fail to beat average (unmanaged) market returns. Betterment has “beaten the market” 88% of the time since its inception, using a portfolio of US and international stocks compiled by their panel of experts. Betterment’s portfolio grew a massive 101.3% between 2009 and 2014. In 2013 the platform boasted 11% growth, with a 70% stock allocation.
New User Promotions: Betterment’s new user promo waives the service free for up to 12 months for new accounts. There are extra perks for those who refer other users as well.
Seamless Platform Performance: Betterment platform performance couldn’t be better. Whether you’re using the platform on your desktop, your cell phone/smartphone, mobile device, or any other piece of tech you can fathom, Betterment runs like butter. It’s a 21st century platform and it just works.
Better Investment Philosophy: Betterment uses every possible method to save their users money and add value to the platform. These methods include free (!) standard offerings like Tax-Loss Harvesting, Smart Deposit Automation, and a Tax-Coordinated portfolio built on low-cost, high-performance ETFs
Better Investment Options: It’s easy to create custom allocations and personalized investment goals. Users can also create a variety of account types, including taxable and non-taxable accounts. We have found every element of the Betterment system to be strong, an investment model that offers the best results to the most people.
FAQ and TL/DR
If you’re too busy to read the full review below, here are answers to your deepest burning questions about Betterment.
How Much Does Betterment Cost?
Betterment recently changed their pricing policy. All users now pay 0.25%, regardless of account balance for standard digital services. This is a discount for low-net worth users (who used to pay 0.35%), and a price increase for high-net worth users (who used to pay 0.15%). Betterment has also introduced Premium services for 0.40% which include personalized asset advice and management.
Betterment Vs. Vanguard. Vanguard can sell you the same portfolio as Betterment, for a little less money in annual fees. But only if you are willing to do a lot more work on your own. In most cases, the cost difference is very slight. At Vanguard, You’ll also have to perform all your own tax-loss harvesting (a Betterment perk and savings opportunity that can more than cover the cost of your Betterment fees), tax-coordinated portfolio service, re-allocation, re-investment, etc.
Can I Trust Betterment? Betterment is regulated and its users are insured by the SIPC. It also has awesome scam/fraud protection and encryption. See their BBB rating here.
Can I Use Betterment in Canada? Can I Use Betterment in Australia? Sorry No, and Nope. They’re working on making it available, so hang in there.
What Does the Betterment Portfolio Look Like
Betterment gives the user a strong selection of stocks and bonds, chosen for great historical performance and affordability. The user selects their own stock/bond allocation. Bonds generally offer slow growth, reliable dividends, and low risk of value loss. Stocks are more volatile but can experience higher growth. Betterment’s current portfolio offerings are as follows:
Stocks Bonds US Total Stock Market Vanguard U.S. Total Stock Market Index ETF (VTI) Short-Term Treasuries iShares Short-Term Treasury Bond Index ETF (SHV) US Large-Cap Value Stocks Vanguard US Large-Cap Value Index ETF (VTV) Inflation Protected Bonds Vanguard Short-term Inflation-Protected Treasury Bond Index ETF (VTIP) US Mid-Cap Value Stocks Vanguard US Mid-Cap Value Index ETF (VOE) US High Quality Bonds (IRA and 401(k) accounts) Vanguard US Total Bond Market Index ETF (BND) US Small-Cap Value Stocks Vanguard US Small-Cap Value Index ETF (VBR) National Municipal Bonds (Taxable accounts) iShares National AMT-Free Muni Bond Index ETF (MUB) International Developed Stocks Vanguard FTSE Developed Market Index ETF (VEA) US Corporate Bonds iShares Corporate Bond Index ETF (LQD) Emerging Market Stocks Vanguard FTSE Emerging Index ETF (VWO) International Developed Bonds Vanguard Total International Bond Index ETF (BNDX) Emerging Market Bonds Vanguard Emerging Markets Government Bond Index ETF (VWOB)
*Note: Betterment stocks slightly favor value and small-cap stocks, which historically outperform the broad market. You wanted a detailed Betterment review. We tried to leave no stone unturned.
Reviews of Betterment’s Departments, Products, and Offerings
There are a lot of aspects to Betterment’s service. Here’s what we’ve found after more than a year of use.
Tax-Coordinated Portfolio: Betterment’s TCP adds a lot of value to the already great service. A Betterment-controlled Tax-Coordinated Portfolio is a way to automatically put expensive holdings into tax-protected accounts, and cheap holdings into taxable accounts. Of course, this only works for people who have multiple accounts with Betterment, but as you use the service longer and longer, you’ll likely do just that. Let’s say you have one taxable account, one Roth IRA, and one Traditional IRA. Betterment’s algorithms automatically swap out all the assets contained in these accounts until they are in an orientation that costs you the least amount of money possible. Betterment estimates annual savings of 0.48%, or 15% over 30 years.
Betterment Tax-Coordinated Portfolio Review: 5 Stars
Customer Service: I usually use email to contact Betterment. Betterment is responsive and detailed in their emails. I always receive thorough replies in less than 24 hours. Betterment chat is now available, and representatives are available by phone 7 days a week until mid-late evening EST. There is even a special line for 401(k) customers, Plus, and Premium customers.
Betterment Customer Service Review: 5 Stars
Promotions: Betterment offers up to 12 months of free service for new accounts with $500,000 and above. $10,000 new accounts get 1 month of free service, $25,000-$49,999 2 months, $50,000-$99,999 3 months, $100,000-$249,999 6 months, and $250,000-$499,999 9 months.
Betterment Promo Review: 5 Stars
Tax-Loss Harvesting and Automatic Re-Allocation: Betterment offers free Tax-Loss Harvesting and Re-Allocation/Portfolio Balancing. Both of these could be accomplished by users through traditional platforms, but the time and costs involved would quickly eat up the savings incurred.

How Do I Sign Up For Betterment?
At this point you might be ready to sign up for Betterment. Good news – it’s really easy. New users input all the usual information, then start asking some questions about their investment goals (risk tolerance, time-specific goals, etc.). You’ll be asked to link to your financial institution, which can be completed in minutes. New funds show up in just a couple of days, at which point your account is up and running. Users transferring IRAs and other accounts from other brokers will usually see the accounts appear in 2-3 weeks.
There’s no minimum balance to begin, but make sure to take advantage of free service for the initial deposit amounts specified above. Once your account is humming along, Betterment will send you a series of helpful emails, detailing Betterment features and making sure you’re getting the most out of the service. Betterment understands how to make this helpful, not annoying, a delicate balance Vanguard hasn’t figured out, IMHO.

Betterment IRA Review, and Other Account Types
Because so many users start Betterment IRAs, this account type is worth a little extra attention. Users can choose between a Traditional IRA, a Roth IRA, and a SEP IRA, depending on tax deference preferences. Betterment’s visualization tools make it easy to see the advantages of each tax model. In addition, users can start Taxable Accounts, 401k, Trust Accounts, and 529 Plans.
Conclusion
You’ve just read lots of words about Betterment investing. By now, you know we’re enthusiastic about Betterment, and that we have every reason to be. To sum up, Betterment is affordable and effective. It’s so easy to use, and so effective at growing wealth, that new investors are signing up by the thousands. We love how responsive Betterment is to user feedback, how quick they respond to our emails, and how many useful features and improvements they’ve added in a short time. We only expect Betterment to get better. Even now, they’re a true leader in the robo-advisor and modern investment landscape.
