We Have to Find Those Puddles of Sunshine (Glacier National Park)

We Have to Find Those Puddles of Sunshine (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: We Have to Find Those Puddles of Sunshine Even on the most overcast of days To break through the clouds and shadows Hope to find for those needing some light And sharing with others from those who have plenty Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning while hiking along the Grinnell Lake Trail in Glacier National Park. This was while taking in views along the shores of Lake Josephine with a view looking to the northeast to Grinnell Point. My thought on composing this image was for a look across the lake waters and mountainside and then beyond to a more distant mountainside. Given the rainy day that day, I wanted to minimize those overcast skies. I did though want to capture some of the details in the clouds and worked a shorter exposure to minimize blowing any highlights, knowing I could process to bring more out later in post-production in DxO PhotoLab 7.

Beer and Clothing in the Occident
This post is a reference guide to the Occident, and a follow-up to a couple of previous actions. Much of it applies also to the colonies around the Pearl Sea.
It has been about 500 years since the founding of Azimuth and the beginning of the Sun-Divers as a race, from which events they number the years; the Prophetic Twins, 23 when the calendar was revealed, began it in Year -84. The 364-day solar year is perfectly harmonious with the 13 lunar months (28 days each).
Geography
The realms of civilisation in the Occident are:
The elevated but low-relief plateau of the West. Dominated by savanna, with tropical forests in river valleys and along the coast, and ruled by a crab-bucket of tribal oligarchies.
The relatively cool mountain highlands that run down the continent north/south. The mountains are covered in terrace-farms, the volcanic terrain being well-suited to wet rice cultivation. Cloud-forests, vertical archipelagoes.
The coastal hills of the east, dominated by city-states and little kingdoms. Cities tend to be built in the hills, with adjunct ports on the coast.
The seasonal northern peninsula and islands. Dry forests, more city-states.
The forested, swampy northeastern lowlands support support large (but disorganized) populations of Night-Singers, who generally live as swidden farmers or sedentary/semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers. They also practice shellfish aquaculture on bamboo frames.
The hills around the Red Lake and Azimuth, which mix traits of the highlands and plateau.
Tumblr media
[Americas for scale and latitude.]
The climate of the Occident is not amenable to horses, though there are llamas in the mountains. In the plains, chariots are sometimes drawn by robust, omnivorous avians—mvao—which somewhat resemble secretary-birds.
Social Structure and Customs
The basic structuring unit of Sun-Diver society is the clan. The “Great Clans” are derived from the 364 pairings of the 728 [yes, this is a retcon] original Sun-Divers who descended from the Flowering Tree. (Not, of course, that everyone agrees on the names and identities of those individuals, or who is descended from whom, or whose clan-day is what. A number of competing systems exist.)
Little Clans, of which there are thousands, descend from the Great ones; they are exogamous (in some places, you must marry outside your Little Clan and within your Great Clan). Descent is generally patrilineal, with some regional variation. The human minority organizes itself along similar lines.
There is a simple four-part caste system, with noble clans, common clans, outsiders, and slaves. Outsiders, mostly night-singers, immigrants, and freedmen, do not share in the community of clans (though they can still attain high status), and slaves are alienated from it. Slavery is inflicted on prisoners of war, or as punishment for a crime or debt; legal details vary. It may be transmitted between reincarnations, but not to children. 20% of Sun-Divers belong to noble clans, and not all are de facto wealthy.
The relationship between oneself and one’s previous incarnations is not quite self-identity, but not quite parent-child.
Outside the Night-Singer heartland, the population ratio of Sun-Divers/Humans/Night-Singers is something like 70/15/15, with higher human populations in the north and the colonies (70/20/10 or similar).
Villages have headmen, typically elder (older and more-reincarnated) members of a locally-important noble clan.
Dwellings are long houses, normally raised and thatched, and arranged around a central crèche housing eggs and chrysalises. Bamboo is an important material in craft and building.
A terrible and notorious crime among them is to incise the chrysalis and drink the contents.
Clothing tends to be cotton, adorned by the nobles with dye and feathers. It also tends to be sparse, outside the high elevations. Long strings of glass beads or pearls are much prized.
Sun-Divers and Humans Classic in a given area speak mutually intelligible languages, despite the various alterations applied in Sun-Diver speech.
Warfare is a primarily male activity, though all members of a clan are armed and expected to fight to the death in defence of a crèche.
In this era, battle is conducted by masses of archers armed with bamboo longbows, bolstered by small corps of warriors armed as close fighters, along with elephants and mvao-chariots.
Food and Agriculture
Their staple foods are, necessarily, liquid, and thicker dishes are somewhat more difficult to consume (thickness, sugar, and alcohol content assume a place similar to capsaicin in their cuisine). As in all poor agrarian societies, consumption centers on fairly simple preparations of staple crops. The prototypical dish is a thin broth of grain or sugarcane, possibly with spices, salt, other minerals, or fermented material added before consumption. The other prototypical dish is beer.
They are lactose tolerant, and dairy products are extremely popular. They have a startling tolerance for sugar and alcohol, and fermentation features heavily. The aforementioned beer is common, as are sago wine and arrack. The diet is supplemented with certain minerals and mineral-rich plants (these being preferred to mud and dung, except in famine conditions). Meat is occasionally present, in the form of blood or via fermentation, broths, and purees, but plant proteins predominate. They have an inordinate fondness for tea.
Nectar and fruit juice are not plentiful enough to be staples, but their market gardens feature strains of flowers whose yield of nectar is several times better than can be found in the wild, and floriculture is much more prominent than in baseline human societies. Honey is also a popular delicacy, and the honeyguide revered.
Religion
Their literary centrepiece is The Course of the Sun, a semi-coherent corpus of texts revolving around the deeds and sayings of the Prophetic Twins, the events and conflicts of their progress to the west, didactic dialogues between gods and mortals, and various primeval and primordial human and divine conflicts.
Sky-gods with obvious commonalities and cognate names rule most of the continent’s religious systems. The Implacable Celebrants are the primary religious institution, loosely united by occasional regional gatherings, loyalty to Azimuth, and a shared self-understanding. Other major and minor gods are integrated into several coherent (and increasingly elaborate) cosmic schemas.
The peculiar lifecycle of the sun-divers generates religious innovations. Viz:
The Sky, bright-eyed, rainbow-haloed, the Changer of Days, is minister to the chrysalis and the soul-in-dissolution. He is depicted as male or epicene. His temples tend to be open to the sky. In their simplest form, they are round, walled courtyard-sanctuaries with some holy plant, idol, or other cult object bleaching in the sun; greater ones feature concentric ring-enclosures of richly-painted stone colonnades and gardens, each occulted from the last.
Thousand Wombs, Worm-Mother, patron of the vermiform, is interpreted as a protector of children. She is popular with midwives and in folk magic; furthermore, in the elaborated cosmic systems of the temple-schools, she embodies the "receptive principle", associated with children, fertility, and the retention of knowledge. She is invoked to sanctify oaths and marriages, but is always reticent to release her gifts.
And, should the eyes tire of colors, or the heart of glory, there are the obeisances of the Last God—appeased lest he look with too much jealousy on those souls whose sunward flight rescues them from his ultimate domain. Those soon to enter the chrysalis burn resins and sing hymns, and one day a year is set aside in Azimuth to avert his wrath: the public buildings sweat in garments of white linen, all work stops, the citizenry take cover in their homes, and the gaze of the Oracles from the Arboretum’s pinnacle bleaches every flower with the pallor of bone and chalk.
[Pretty much all the gods had cults in the original batch from out East, thought that was in the era of Velarie’s dormancy. These are just noted as salient Sun-Diver specific things.]

Highlights
It was really neat to see how real designers are always using what they know and what they are good at to influence their design process, no matter if it is a commercial or personal project. It was comforting to me to see that there doesn't always have to be this immense pressure to try something that you don't know anything about, or that you aren't good at, just for the sake of going out of your comfort zone. Although this is useful and can really expand a designer's horizons, it is not always necessary to be uncomfortable at all stages of a design process. Drawing on your interests and strengths is also a good way to create a successful outcome.
The calibre of presentations were top tier - they were engaging and 'guided your eye', and embodied all the tips we go over in class, such as limiting the number of words on a slide.
I was pleased at how this international conference still allowed for freedom of the hosting country to incorporate any necessary traditions or honours that are encouraged in that country. The conference opened with a Mihi and Waiata, which communicated to me that it was important for Alt Group and AGI to create a safe Māori space.
Kris Sowersby's talk was a huge highlight of mine. He broke down a new typeface that his is collaborating on with Johnson Witehira, called Matarongo. It was fascinating to see their process (iteration on iteration on iteration), right from the deep, rich research they did through to the varied typefaces that were created. So many things were considered - lower/upper case, sans/serif, extra glyphs, etc. I found that I gained a whole new appreciation for typography through watching his talk.

Localizer antenna
Tumblr media
#Localizer antenna code#
#Localizer antenna simulator#
Used On: ILS, MLS and MLS Continuation recordsĭistance values could be limited to a certain range e.g 5000ft beyond RWY end to narrow the search area. Source/Content: The field contains the official government source distance, in feet,įrom the antenna to the runway end. The facility antenna relative to one end of the runway. "5.48 Localizer Position (LOC FR RW END) Azimuth/Back Azimuth Position (AZ/BAZ FR RWĭefinition/Description: The Localizer/Azimuth Position field defines the location of But depending on the resolution of the stored coordinate, the flag could be misleading so that a combination of multiple ARINC 424 fields need to be taken into account.Īs a first step following ARINC 424 records could be used to figure out wheter Localizers are placed on the extended centerline or not: Same applies to Jeppesen (Navigraph and Lido (Aerosoft). The info wheter a Localizer is offset / non offset is stored in the ARINC 424 file that you get from NavBlue. When that is done, one could think about ways to further improve the Localizer alignement for non offset Localizers. That should be fixed first by going back to using only True values for aligment of the Localizer antenna (same as currently for RWYs) My primary concern would be the Magnetic vs. Non offset ocalizers should always be aligned to the MSFS extended centerline. The low resolution coordinates that state source AIPs provide are sometimes not precise enough for the MSFS world. Only alignements for offset Localizers should still be taken out of ARINC 424 files. As state source AIPs are notoriously unreliable in keeping the Inbound Courses harmonized to a single Magnetic Variation value (e.g RWY published with 100deg in combination with 23°W but ILS Charts still published with 099deg and 22°W and so on), The current ARINC 424 based approach now just copies those inconsistencies from state sources into the MSFS world and makes life harder for everyone.Īnother Idea for improvement is to always automatically align non offset Localizers with the RWYs in MSFS. State source AIPs would naturally differ by a few degrees (1-2 in most cases) depending on how well they are maintained.Īt the moment there should not be any differences to charts since Asobo (Navblue) or Navigraph (Jeppesen) reflect Inbound Courses from ARINC files. When updated by Asobo or via Herve Sors ( Since that always is the most up to date value based on the newest available Magvar models The Magnetic value would then be the result of True + Magdec.bgl. Then we might see again small differences to charts but those are negligible compared to bad autopilot behavior.
#Localizer antenna code#
The best way would be, if Asobo would go back to the old FSX/P3D way and code Localizers only with the true value (same as currently RWY) and do the Magnetic Autotuning based on the True + Magdec.bgl value. (The airplane cannot fly the localizer properly if the CRS on the CDU NAV RAD page is set incorrectly) To compensate for this, we recommend setting this option to ON, and we will read the appropriate P3D localizer course and adjust the setting for you, thus saving you time and frustration." Since many users are also using real-world navigation charts, this can create some confusion and can also create problems if the LOC course is not correctly set to match the P3D hard-coded information. The end result is that the localizer final approach course in the P3D world will sometimes vary from the real world.
#Localizer antenna simulator#
"CORRECT LOC CRS TO P3D: When it comes to navigation data, P3D has an inherent weakness in that data related to ILS/LOC stations is hard coded into the simulator and is not updated to keep it current with the normal magnetic shift. This is also one of the reason why PMDG did is as follows when tuning the Inbound CRS for P3D: If the calculated RWY Heading (True + Magdec.bgl) and the Autotuned course differ, it may result in negative consequences when it comes to Autoland behavior of several aircrafts as the Autopilot tries to correct against an imaginable crosswind which is not there. The coded Inbound CRS is on top used for the Autotuning of the Inbound course. To get a properly aligned Localizer on extended MSFS centerline, the combination of coded Magvar and Inbound CRS in the Localizer definition must always match the exact RWY true of MSFS. MSFS at the moment replicates how Localizers are stored in ARINC 424 files (True + Magvar + Magnetic Inbound CRS) with all its bad consequences for the MSFS environment.

The declination instrument, the horizontal and the vertical force magnetometers, are constructed under the direction of Professor Lloyd of Dublin; and there are besides, dip circles, transits with azimuth circles and chronometers of the most approved construction there are also pendulums for ascertaining the true figure of the earth, thermometers for determining the temperature of the sea at given depths; other blackened thermometers to measure the atmospheric temperature at different latitudes; photometric sensitive paper for experiments on light; barometers to be observed during storms, white squalls, etc; glasses for sidereal observations (particularly on the variable botanical and natural history specimens; actinometers for finding the forces of solar and terrestrial radiation)  hygrometers, Oslers’ anemometers,

Arrived at Van Diemans’ land, the instruments, etc. for the observatory will be sent ashore, and whilst it is [?] they will cruise to various points where the scientific pursuits of the expedition are most likely to be advanced. On their return, they will start de novo in a direct southern course between 120 degrees and 160 degrees east longitude towards the Antarctic pole; and it is a singular and fortunate thing that in this direction, during the present season, a ship of Mr. Enderbys’ has discovered land on both sides of the longitude we have indicated in about 65 and 68 degrees of South latitude (c) these shores have been named Sabrina Lane, seen March 1839, and Balleny Isle, seen February 1839; and between them, as well as upon them, the efforts of the Erebus and Terror will, in the 1st instance, be employed........ they will afterwards circumnavigate the Pole, and try in every quarter to reach the highest point, whether near Enderbys’ land, discovered in 1832, or by Captain Weddells’ furthest reach, about 73 degrees in 1832.
It is between Sabrina Land and Balleney Isle, to the northward, in about latitude 50°, and East longitude 140°, that, it is expected the south magnetic pole will be found............. the vessels on the plan which divides them into 3 compartments; so that either extremity or the middle might be stove in, and yet the remainder be a safe hold for the crew (d)

Ratchet’s Age by Game’s Timeline since some people be calling people a child bonker over a goddamn ship (ffs you’d think this dumb shit would be over by now what is this 2015)
RaC 1: 5354
According to a magazine unlock in-game, game happens on this year, 15/17 yo depending on which source you go with.
RaC GM: 5355
We don’t know if it was still the same year but according to the intro 6  months has passed so we round it up, 16/18 yo.
RaC UYA: 5356
Gadgetron discount you get from having RaC 1 only applies in-universe for being w the Gadgetron company for 2 years, 17/19 yo.
Ratchet Deadlocked: 5357
According to Jak X: Combat Racing, Ratchet was stated as 18 in this game so in all likelihood Ratchet was 15 in RaC 1.
Juanita mentioned that Ratchet encountered Courtney Gears a year ago in one of the cutscenes, which sets UYA a year before Deadlocked.
RaC Size Matters: 5357-5358
According to devs SM happens after Deadlocked so if we want to stick w 1 year has passed for each game it happens somewhere between 5357-5358. 19 yo.
RaC Tools of Destruction: 5359
Following the 1 year scheme, 20 yo.
Secret Agent Clank: 5359
Since it launched concurrently w QfB, it can be assumed that this was a dream sequence Clank experienced while at the Clock.
RaC Quest for Booty: 5359-5360
QfB was shorter than most installments so it can be assumed this one didn’t take a full year. 20-21 yo.
RaC A Crack in Time: 5360
Sigmund mentioned that Neffy has been trying to get into the Orvus Chamber for over a year. 21 yo.
RaC All 4 One: 5362/5363
Intro sequence said that it’s been over 2 years since the duo beat Neffy but no definitive answer on whether it’s exactly 2 years or 2+ years. Probably in the middle of Qwark’s presidency. 23-24 yo.
RaC Full Frontal Assault: 5364/5365
Qwark stated he finished his public service as President. Assuming that they have a 4 year term we can surmise it has been an additional 2 years since A4O since he was still president at the time. 25-26 yo.
RaC Into the Nexus: 5365/5366
Since no timeframe was given for this game we’re using back the 1 year thing. 26-27 yo.
RaC 2016: 5364
The oh so famous reboot. Is said to be 18 yo in this but honestly he acts like he’s 10 but then again the canonity of this installment in the timeline is questionable at best.
RaC Rift Apart: ???? We have no context for this game yet whether it’s continuing the reboot’s or following up ItN so who knows really. All we know it’s been a few years since Neffy last showed.
________________________________________________________
Now, for the oh-so-controversial ship subject: Alister Azimuth.
He’s a general, so safe to assume he’s done service for roughly 20 years unless Lombax military fast tracks stuff. Operating under the assumption that it works like America by which you graduated at 18, finish college at 22, and immediately enlisted, Alister would be in his 40s by the time he got to that rank. Add 21 years to get to ACiT and that’d put Alister in his 60s.
Sizeable age gap? Sure. But it’s a goddamn fictional ship in a goddamn fictional world over two goddamn fictional space cats w weird ears and feet. At worst it makes Alister a foxy grandpa, and we can’t even know for sure since
We don’t know what his actual age is.
Insomniac never provided details on how Lombaxes work as a culture so we don’t have a baseline to infer to, that is spitballing based on America and we could be totally wrong.
We don’t know what the average lifespan of a Lombax is. They could get up to 300 for all we know.
And last but not least; Ratchet is of consenting age at that point. If it was explicitly shipping w RaC 1 Ratchet then yeh. That would be unacceptable.
So please, for the love of god, stop calling people an istaphobephile just because you don’t like something. Seriously. You’re diluting the definition of the term and make people not take seriously when it’s actually true cuz people like you keep throwing it around like wet toilet paper that’s been stuck on a bridge troll’s ass cheeks. Grow up.

Much of Azimuth’s confidence is an act that comes with his role as an incubus. He’s good at seduction and he enjoys it, but he’s easily flustered by sincere expressions of emotion. Audrey saying she liked him in his true form caught him off guard because humans don’t say that to him very often. As for the not wanting children thing, there’s a serious reason for that which will stay hidden for a while. Audrey will learn more about Azimuth and his secrets little by little. Anyway he’s absolutely 100% in love with her by now. In case that wasn’t obvious.

day twenty-three, another eden & az poem (ft the origin of az’s name)
other escapril stuff here
transcript:
"escapril" day 23: focus on the texture “what were you before you met me?"/"i think i was drowning"/"and what are you now?"/"water” - ocean vuong, 'on earth we're briefly gorgeous' azimuth - noun. the direction of a celestial object from the observer, expressed as the angular distance from the north or south point of the horizon to the point at which a vertical circle passing through the object intersects the horizon. how to find your way to a star.
it was hard to look at them, then. they came in with a burst of blinding white snowflakes speckling their shoulders and stars-like-freckles speckling their skin. the white-out outside blurred their edges (or perhaps my vision-- though by then i think the hunger was taking that too) and at that point i was shaking, i was afraid, i was frail, i was tired and i was lonely and all i could see were those speckles. across their cheeks. across their shoulders. in their hair.
it is still hard to look at them, sometimes. they live in bursts of impossible highs and complications are a series of soft edges and hard curves and stars still all across their skin. a softness i could get lost in and stars to find my way again (though by now i think i am already found in more ways than one) and at this point i am loving, i am overwhelmed, i am safe, i am grounded and i am warm and all i care to look at is those stars. across their face. across their shoulders. in their eyes.

SIMULASI GUNUNG HUTAN PANCA RIUNG BUANA
Setelah kami melakukan resection, kami langsung melakukan kegiatan buka jalur dengan menggunakan metode man to man.

Classification Tree – Craters on Mars
A study was conducted to collect the main information on the size, positions and structures of the craters on Mars. This study was created by Stuart Robbins and contains overall 378540 craters.
A decision tree analysis was conducted to test relationships among a series of explanatory variables and a binary, categorical response variable, i.e. the number of azimuthal layers in the crater.
Latitude and longitude estimation of the position of the crater in decimal  degrees, its diameter and the average elevation of the crater were used as explanatory variables. 199 samples were used as training samples for the tree.
The average elevation of the crater was used as inital variable: with a reference value less than 0.015 km. Among the craters satisifying this relation, 147 were identified to have a dimeter less than 2.91 km. 146 of these craters are located at latitudes less than 65 deg.
Among the craters with average elevation greater than 0.015 km, 37 have a dimeter greater than 6.9 km. Among these craters, 23 are located at longitudinal angles less than -17 deg.
