Anyways, the main cast of Dragons Of Sodor is here! These are their designs right now, but are subject to change. Also, here's some lore about each of them! I'll put it below the cut! (@hkpika07😁👋)

Edit: I've been tired all day and I just realized this has a ton of typos.🤣 Also, some info I meant to put down is not there. *Sighs* Oh well. I tried. Lol.

Note: The stories mentioned here actually have a LOT more going on than what is mentioned. This is just a more watered down version so it doesn't get too long of a post. Have fun reading!

Thomas: Out main man! The big hero! So what is Thomas's role in this story? Well, here's the thing. Notice how Thomas's eye are gold, like gold dust? That's because he's Lady's next champion. Aka, the chosen one. Lol, all jokes aside, Thomas has an incredible destiny of being the one to protect all of Sodor someday! And lead the clan! This comes with a number of challenges he must face as he grows and learns what it takes to be a hero. Another important part of Thomas's story or his relationship with his adopted Father Edward, and how they navigate the rapidly changing world, that is becoming less and less safe for all dragons.

Percy: Thomas's bestie and resident messenger from clan Gold Scale! Percy is a very curious dragon and enjoys writing his observations in journals. He also very empathetic and cares about everyone. No matter where they are from. Unfortunately, he's also a bit gullible. And this combined leads to some nasty trickery from the Gold Scales rivals (The Iron Hides), somewhere down the line. (Fun fact! He's also a bit deaf. Hence why he sometimes mixes up long complicated words. Him and Thomas will sometimes use sign language to communicate.)

James: Thomas and James have a complicated relationship. At first, they were on okay terms. But something very important happened. Gordon is James mentor. And since Gordon is the Clan's Patriarch, this lead James to thinking he may have a chance at becoming the next one. But when it was revealed Thomas was meant to become leader next, James became bitter and wasn't as friendly as before. However, this changed after he was caught up in a forest fire, (This Au's version of James crash) and Thomas saved him, despite being on bad terms with him. After that, he had a more brotherly relationship. Competitive, but still care about each other's well-being. (Fun fact! James is a rare hybrid between a Dragon and Wyvern. So he's got scales and fluff!)

Edward: Edward is the one of the clan's elders and a talented wizard. His dragon species, a Moon Moth Dragon, are known for being very close to Lady Arcana, and magic in general. He has quite a large library of spell books and general historical records. And plenty of old artifacts as well. Thomas was adopted by him at a very young age, and the two are inseparable. Edward made sure to teach him plenty of skills he would need as Lady's next champion. Especially since he was the last one. Edward also adopted Bill and Ben, two twin dragons that are Thomas's adopted brothers.

Gordon: Out of all the dragons, there is no denying that the most regale, fastest, and proudest dragon, is Gordon, Clan Gold Scales Patriarch. Gordon has a mysterious past that he seldom talks about. Edward and Henry know everything about it. But all everyone else knows is that he is pretty much the last of his kind, as all others were killed off by humans years ago. This trauma, he clearly doesn't talk about, has definitely effected his relationships. As he has a hard time opening up or showing any softness. It's not that doesn't care about them. It that he doesn't know how to show it. But that does change. Eventually. He also played an important role in James's life. James was found as a youngster by Gordon and Edward a long time ago. The patriarch saw potential in this rare dragon and wyvern hybrid. And took him under his wing. James looked up to him and wanted to be just like him.

Henry: Sodor's local tree hugger! Henry loves the forest and is pretty much their guardian in this story. He even lives beneath a large tree's roots in a cozy burrow. (The Wishing Tree to be exact!) He also has some sort of really rare plant magic? Nobody even knows why he even has it. Especially since Titan Class dragons don't have any sort of magical abilities. But regardless, he has it. And it's a good thing too, since he has a few health issues that his powers can help him with. For example, he uses his plant magic to form his prosthetic back leg whenever he needs it! Oh, and he can also talk to any nearby trees and connect into their communication system. Meaning he can pretty much find out what's happening in every part of the forest whenever he wants... It's pretty crazy. You may also notice he has a beak rather than fangs. That because he eat mostly plants. In short, Henry is the clan's lovable but slightly weird woods man that lives in a tree and has over a ten thousand squirrel friends.

Emily: In this story, Emily is an apprentice under Victor! I thought it would fit with her personality and how she's usually the one looking out for the groups health. And also rescuing them a lot. Her and Kevin both train under Victor as the clan's apprentice medicine dragons. Emily is the closest thing Thomas and Percy have to a sister. They love her to bits, and she's always looking out for them. She's also close with Henry. The two share a close bond, almost akin to a grandfather and granddaughter relationship. Henry will sometimes help he needs the herbs she and the other medicine dragons need for cures and stuff.(Fun fact! Since she's Scottish in this AU, I was inspired by the legend of Nessie and the Loch Ness. Hence the reason she's a sea dragon. I was also inspired by Leafy Dragons!)

Toby and Henrietta: Toby and Henrietta have been mates for many years. They are the clan's only wyvern couple and are also part of the clan's elders group. Toby and Henrietta love each other dearly, and have raised quite a few children of their own over the years. For now though, they are simply just enjoying each other's company on Sodor as the local retired couple. (I feel like I should put down more for them. Because they do have roles to play. But, I can't seem to get it all out of my head at the moment. Hopefully I'll solidify their roles better later! Also, Toby is based off of owls, and Henrietta is based off of robins and cardinals! They are heavily associated with birds, so it just fit.)

Bill and Ben: These two young dragon twins are a handful! Luckily, Edward (Their adoptive father,) is very skilled in the art of handling chaos and disorder, and can usually sort things out quickly. These two are the adopted siblings of Thomas, and they always seem to be getting into and/or making trouble. Even more so than Thomas!

Summary:

Edward’s in the Works for maintenance, so an engine from the Other Railway arrives to fill in on his branch line. She soon proves herself to be a bully. Bill and Ben aren’t about to let that slide.

I would like to give special thanks to @mean-scarlet-deceiver, @sparkarrestor, and @joezworld for helping me decide which engine this story’s antagonist would be! I’d also like to thank Joezworld a second time for letting me borrow the idea that Bill and Ben learned to speak German for the sole purpose of messing with people, and a third time for coming up with the title. My goofiest BoCo headcanon - a total joke, really; in no way canon at all - is that, ✨for some reason, somehow✨Coppernob comes for a visit.

Don't even ask how, why, or who's paying for it. Don't worry about it! The point is, the visit's, like, a month long.

Though as far as BoCo's concerned it's interminable.

Coz Bill and Ben, see. I just want Nobby, against all expectations, to be the world's most indulgent grandpa and the twins' worst-ever enabler.

(I never bought that the landslide at the clay pits in season 3 was an act of God nor even of capitalism per se, you know. I've always suspected the twins. Now, with this crack-y headcanon, I have a third suspect...)

Anyway the first sign of trouble was way back when the twins were four hours late with a delivery and BoCo was like '??? 🤨' and the twins are basically like 'Nobby took us out for ice cream cones 😈😇'

Ttte swearing headcanons

Thomas: swears at least once a day when nobody is around, thinks saying no-no words is funny

Edward: never said a bad word in his life, will remind everyone to watch their language

Henry: would if he could but knows that swear words hurt people.

Gordon: thinks swearing is undignified, despicable, disgraceful, and disgusting.

James: doesn’t swear except for that time he derailed when his brake blocks were on fire.

Percy: learned a new word, uses it, until he’s told that it’s a bad word

Toby: scolds Percy and Thomas for foul language, swear police

Duck: thinks that swearing is not the Great Western Way ™. Swear police no. 2

Donald: swears in his sleep when he’s stressed out.

Douglas: will swear occasionally for fun

Oliver: will swear occasionally when Duck and toad aren’t around

Emily: is a proper lady and thinks swearing isn’t ladylike

Salty: picked up his vocabulary from the sailors. Has quite the sailor mouth

Cranky: sailor mouth no. 2

Diesel: has a potty mouth so big that it’s a septic tank

Bill and Ben: turn into a pair of giggling middle schoolers when anyone swears.

Mavis: will tell bill and Ben to “stop saying that Word! It’s a swear word and it’s not a nice !!$#&!! Thing to say!”

BoCo: scolds anyone for swearing

Duncan: if Diesel has a septic tank mouth, then Duncan has an entire sewage treatment plant mouth. He uses words like !!$&#!!, !!$#&!!, and !!$#&!! So liberally that they are now conservative.

(Get it, like the political spectrum where theoretically you can go so far in one direction that you wind up on the other side…

Magicked Away

I saw this post from @ilovecharile last night and couldn’t help myself, so here’s a short piece inspired by their Forgotten AU concept!

Bill and Ben pulled into the yard at Brendam Docks and found Edward, resting in a siding. Their search had been entirely fruitless. Every engine they’d asked about BoCo so far was acting like he never even existed. They figured if anyone would tell them the truth, it’d be Edward.

“Hey, Edward,” they said together as they whistled in greeting. Edward smiled and whistled back.

“Hello, Bill and Ben,” he replied. “You look like you’ve got something on your minds.”

“We do,” said Bill.

“Why is it we haven’t seen BoCo recently? Is he away being mended?” Ben asked.

Edward was puzzled. “Who’s BoCo? Do I know him?”

The China Clay twins were shocked. They hadn’t expected that response from him at all.

“Of course you know him, Edward!” Ben said. “Y’know, the big green boxy diesel?”

“He runs the branch line with you! He has for years!” Bill added. “When you had that accident with your crankpin, he filled in for you while you were being mended, remember?”

“You told us exactly what kind of a diesel he is when we first met him!” Ben continued.

“Did I? And what is he, then?” Edward said with a grin, not fully believing them.

“He’s a… oh, no, I don’t remember,” said Ben. “I think it’s… Cosmopolitan Bickers?”

“Silly,” Bill said, “he’s a… a… Neapolitan Snickers!”

Edward chuckled. “Is this an engine or an ice cream flavor you’re talking about?”

“No, no, it’s…”

“It’s…”

The twins gasped as they remembered the words at the same time.

“Metropolitan Vickers,” they chorused. “BoCo’s a Metropolitan Vickers!”

“Hmm, a Metropolitan Vickers… big, green, and boxy…” Edward thought for a moment, then his face fell. “You wouldn’t be thinking of a Metropolitan Vickers Diesel Electric Type 2, would you?”

“Yes, yes! That’s it!” the twins peeped hopefully.

“I’m sorry, you two, but I’m fairly certain that there’s only one of those engines left. That class had a lot of mechanical problems, and the Other Railway has never been kind to engines like that. If your friend was one of that class, he’s probably long gone by now.”

Bill and Ben gasped. They were horrified. How could Edward say such a terrible thing?

“N-no, he doesn’t belong to the Other Railway, he, he belongs to the Fat Controller,” Ben stammered. “The Fat Controller doesn’t scrap his engines, you told us so.”

“Right! So he can’t be gone,” Bill went on. “He has to be around here somewhere, he has to…”

“I am sorry,” repeated Edward. “If there was an engine like that on the island, he was probably sent away for some reason years ago. And if he was, then…”

Ben suddenly went red in the face, and Bill began to tear up. “If you’re trying to get back at us for something we did, it’s not funny, Edward!” Ben shouted.

“How can you not remember BoCo?” Bill cried. “You share a shed with him!”

“He’s the only one you let call you ‘Ted’!”

“You love him!” The twins shouted in unison.

Now it was Edward’s turn to go red, first from shock, then from fury. He glared daggers at the twins. “You two should know better than to joke about things like that,” the old engine said coldly. “My feelings for other engines are a private matter. I don’t appreciate you making up stories like that about me.”

“B-but Edward, we-“

“That’s enough,” Edward interrupted. “Find your trucks and go back to the clay pits.”

“But-“

“GO,” he said firmly, and he wheeshed steam at them.

The twins were shocked. Edward had gotten cross with them before, but he’d never once wheeshed them. Bill and Ben looked down at their buffers and slowly backed away from the old blue engine. Edward watched like a hawk as they silently collected their trucks and headed back up the line as they were told. Once the pair were out of sight, he sighed and let off another cloud of steam in frustration, then went back to his own work.

As the twins rolled along the rails, Ben broke the silence.

“… Bill?”

“Yeah, Ben?”

“Do you remember the day we met BoCo, and we didn’t know what diesels were, so we thought he’d magicked our trucks away?”

“Yeah, I remember…”

“Do you think… do you think maybe he got magicked away?”

“At this point, that’s the only thing that would make sense...”

TTTE Headcanons: Engines’ TV Habits

This is pretty goofy, but I’m thinking about what sorts of TV the engines might watch if they had a TV or a streaming device in their sheds. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far!

Henry loves nature shows, of course. In addition, after his fireman lamented his spilt hot cocoa, he wanted to understand why humans care so much about food. This led him to cooking shows, which he found very relaxing. He likes to watch raw, disparate ingredients become something beautiful and complete.

Edward goes for mysteries — lighter, cozier shows like Midsomer Murders, Rosemary & Thyme, and Murder, She Wrote. He’s also a fan of Granada Studios’ 1984 Sherlock Holmes. It tickles the same part of him that enjoys ghost stories, giving him a slight thrill alongside a pleasing mind-teaser.

Gordon watches the news every morning and evening. He likes to feel up-to-date on important events, expounding on them to his colleagues. Any program about opera and orchestral performances also appeals to him. There’s some snobbery involved, but he does enjoy hearing and learning about musical genres.

James likes game and talent shows, often shouting answers and opinions at the TV. He’s so attuned to these shows’ editing that he’ll guess a season winner, set up a betting pool, and rake in all the favors after the finale with a smug grin. (Gordon and Henry only keep placing bets because they want to show him up someday.)

All three big engines indulge in the guilty pleasure of soap operas. They think nobody else knows about this. Pip and Emma “obliviously” intrude on their watch parties to make them squirm.

Thomas and Percy watch ghost hunting shows together. They scoff at the idea of ghosts, accuse each other of being ‘fraidy-cats, and huddle close in fear as an episode progresses. They also watch late-night airings of schlocky films with Toby, whose sly commentary cracks them all up.

On his own, Thomas watches motorsport broadcasts. Bertie hooked him on it not long after they started racing each other. He’s a fan of some F1 drivers and their cars, often comparing notes with Bertie in serious (and sometimes heated) discussions.

Percy has a soft spot for period dramas. He’ll laugh at historical inaccuracies, get invested in all the characters, and ponder common tropes. He’s not afraid to ask about the servants who have to endure the wealthy protagonists’ dramatics.

Toby doesn’t watch much TV outside of what he sees with Thomas and Percy. However, he and Henrietta are partial to some late-night talk shows. If the show’s interviewing someone they’re interested in, or if they think the host is funny, they’ll give an episode a try.

Duck adores How It’s Made. It’s very satisfying for him to watch a bunch of moving parts at work, slotting pieces into their rightful places to assemble something. Other nights, he watches travel shows. They explore locations all around the world, scratching his itch to see what’s beyond his horizon.

Donald watches stand-up comedy specials, going for a good laugh at the end of the day to decompress. Ever since Duck “gifted” him Dilly, he also watches nature programs and shows about training/caring for pets. (He and Dilly are working on some tricks.)

Oliver picks sci-fi shows, with Star Trek and Doctor Who as his favorites. He’s drawn in by the pulpy adventures, moral dilemmas, and complex protagonists. It all makes him feel better about himself: you can mess up on an astronomical scale, but still be capable of good things. You don’t have to be a perfect hero to be a good person.

Douglas enjoys shows about antiques and vintage items — things in the vein of Antique Roadshow, or American Pickers. He’s a sucker for knickknacks that meant something to someone, for all the stories behind each one, and for their loving restorations.

Bill and Ben think fitness shows are hysterical. They’re forever amused by the odd ways the instructors contort their bodies. But they also scheme for their crews to watch these shows, hoping they’ll participate and stay healthy for years to come.

Daisy’ll watch any program about fashion or body art (tattoos, piercings, etc). Being so attentive to her swerves, she’s curious about the ways that humans adorn themselves. She’ll sometimes take inspiration from what she sees, but she’ll always argue that fashion is an art form, pointing to these shows for examples.

It's finally complete.... a full page of doodles of some of my human ttte chars

Was just doodling without putting too much pressure on myself for it to be perfect, so these are a bit messier than usual but I'm okay with that, a lot of this is still conceptual too, still ironing out the kinks

But yeah!! This took me about 3 days to fill the whole thing

Gordon, Bill, Ben, Thomas, Diesel, James, Boco, Emily, Mavis, Millie... and some other little doodles here and there
