T-Series clarifies rumours around Aashiqui franchise; says, “Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise”

T-Series released an official statement denying the revival of Aashiqui, asserting that they would only be collaborating with the Bhatts for the film.

A couple of years ago, T-Series announced Aashiqui 3 and later it was reported that Kartik Aaryan will play the lead of the film and it was expected to be directed by Anurag Basu. However, recently the production house released an official statement asserting that they are not planning to revive the franchise. Furthermore, it also maintained that in case of such plans, they would only be collaborating with the Bhatts, who originally possess the rights of the film and that their upcoming venture is in no way related to the romantic drama.

Their official statement read, “T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series. Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Our commitment lies in consistently delivering top-notch content, and we eagerly anticipate future ventures with our esteemed partners.”

The first Aashiqui which released in 1990 became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year as its music continues to rule the charts even today. It marked the debut of Anu Aggarwal along with Rahul Roy, both of whom catapulted to  overnight fame owing to immense success of the film. The second instalment released over two decades later, in 2013, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, yet again with music and the film, both enjoying a great run.

T-Series issues statement denying split between Bhushan Kumar and Divya Khossla

Recent report suggested that famous producer Bhushan Kumar and his actor-filmmaker wife Divya Khossla were headed for splitsville. 

Divya Khossla, who recently featured in Yaariyan 2, left many shocked on social media when the actress turned filmmaker dropped ‘Kumar’ from her name on the platform. The actress turned filmmaker, who was earlier known as Divya Khosla Kumar, is now Divya Khossla and this move fuelled up speculations over her marriage with T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar hitting rock bottom. However, in an official statement issued by the team of the production house, it is being said that the reason behind this move is expected to be astrological and has nothing to do with her marriage.

According to the statement given by the spokesperson, it is being said that Divya decided to opt for this move after an astrologer advised to do so for the betterment of her personal and professional life. In fact, the statement asserted that Divya Khossla aka Divya Khosla Kumar is happily married to T-Series head producer Bhushan Kumar for almost two decades. “Contrary to several reports doing rounds, the couple is very happy with each other,” revealed the statement. The spokesperson from T-Series said, “Divya Khossla's choice to drop her married surname is driven by astrological beliefs and is a personal decision. It should be respected and there is an addition of an 's' made to her maiden surname, symbolizing her astrological belief is for the same thought.” However, the speculations also claimed that the actress has stopped following T-Series on social media but there has been no clarification issued on the same.

Years ago, Divya Khossla, an aspiring model and actress, made her debut in 2004 in Hindi and Telugu, after being a part of several music videos. However, the actress decided to take a break from the industry after her marriage to T-Series head Bhushan Kumar in 2005. The couple tied the knot in Katra and later became proud parents to a son in October 2011. The actress decided to return as a filmmaker and debuted as a director with Yaariyan in 2014 and went on to direct Sanam Re in 2016. Later, she also made her comeback in acting with Satyameva Jayate 2 in 2021.

Remembering dada moni Ashok Kumar on his birth anniversary (13/11). Ashok Kumar, originally Kumudlal Ganguly, was born on 13 October 1911. He was a remarkable figure in Indian cinema, gaining iconic status through his natural acting style which was a fresh introduction to Hindi films. His impact was most profound during the black-and-white film era of the 1940s and 50s, where he was celebrated as the first superstar and the initial lead actor to take on anti-hero roles. His ability to reinvent his career allowed him a lengthy and successful journey as a character actor, making him a revered member of the cinematic Ganguly family. His accolades include the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 1999, both awarded by the Indian government in recognition of his significant contributions to the film industry.

His beginnings in the acting world came unexpectedly while working as a lab assistant at Bombay Talkies. The 1936 film Jeevan Naiya saw him step into the lead role after the original actor eloped with his co-star, marking the start of his acting career, albeit reluctantly. His partnership with Devika Rani, starting with the socially impactful film Achhut Kanya in the same year, resulted in a series of successful films, making them a popular on-screen pair of that time.

Though initially overshadowed by Devika Rani, Ashok Kumar's star rose as he starred opposite Leela Chitnis in films like Kangan (1939), Bandhan (1940), and Azad (1940). His role in the 1943 film Kismet, directed by Gyan Mukherjee, marked him as the first anti-hero in Indian cinema, and its success at the box office solidified his status as a cinema superstar. His popularity soared, as depicted in Manto's words describing the frenzy of his public appearances. In the post-Kismet era, Ashok Kumar enjoyed a series of box office hits like Chal Chal Re Naujawan (1944), Shikari (1946), and Mahal (1949), among others, establishing him as a bankable star.

He also ventured into film production, contributing to the success of Bombay Talkies and nurturing the careers of future stars like Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor through films like Ziddi (1948) and Neelkamal (1947), respectively. His later years saw a reduction in film roles but he made memorable appearances on television, notably hosting India's first soap opera Hum Log and acting in the detective TV serial Tehkikaat. His final film role was in 1997’s Aankhon Mein Tum Ho. Besides acting, he was a dedicated painter and a qualified homeopath, known for his miracle cures. With a legacy spanning over 275 films and more than 30 Bengali dramas, Ashok Kumar’s multi-faceted contributions to Indian entertainment and society remain etched in history.
