Big just nods in agreement. His tongue doesn’t seem to be working very well.

Finding a second chance at love isn't something either of them thought was in the cards. Noticing that there was someone in front of you all along, takes something changing to open your eyes.

Big supposes almost dying is a pretty good example of radical life changes, though that was just the beginning. As his grandma used to say, in order for a garden to truly bloom, you have to give it space to grow.

Tay who knows about Time being unable to keep it in his pants

Tay who hears the whispers about Time breaking yet another heart (like he has broken Tay's so many times before)

Tay who's suffocating inside the club and goes outside because he desperately needs to get some fresh air

Big who took a break and went outside to have a smoke, because it might have accepted it, but sometimes it's just too hard to look at Kinn and Porsche and their perfect bubble of happiness

Big who suddenly sees Tay and he's insure if he's supposed to put on the perfect bodyguard facade with his boss's best friend, but then realizes Tay is on the verge of screaming and losing it and just quietly offers him a cigarette

Tay who's taken aback by the presence of someone else, and would like very much to tell them to get lost, but actually relaxing when the other person doesn't offer him words, just something to get distracted with, and he accepts it

The two of them leaning against the wall, smoking in silence, no words exchanged, except for a very soft and quiet "thank you" from Tay and a nod from Big right before they go back in

A month going by without anything else happening, but then one night both of them unexpectedly being outside again at the same moment in that very same hallway

This time Tay being the one offering the smoke, and them exchanging a few words, and knowing it should be the last time, except it's not

It actually becomes a common occurence

Something they both start looking forward to, now that the few, superficial words they exchanged at the very beginning shifted into rather meaningful conversations

Tay deciding to take a risk and telling Big about is relationship with Time, all the heartbreaks he has caused him, and the complete lack of trust Tay has developed towards the people surrounding him because of that

Big knowing how deeply heartbreaks hurt, having experienced it first hand, and offering Tay gentle advices, using his own experience but without telling him about his unrequited feelings for Kinn

Tay still realizing it when he sees the hurt and the longing on Big's face on one particular occasion, when Kinn and Porsche are being insufferably coupl-y on their anniversary

Tay waiting for Big to go outside and following him just to hug him

Big being taken aback but hugging Tay back fiercely and almost desperately

Them staying close for several minutes before they release each other, but keeping their hands on each other arms, unable to let go just yet

And then Tay closing once again the distance and putting the softest, most delicate ghost of a kiss on Big's lips, whispering a very quiet "I'm sorry", before turning and running back inside

Big being completely dumfounded, touching his lips with his fingertips, because what has just happened, why Tay did that, and most importantly why did he stop

Big going back inside and seeing Tay sitting on Time's lap, a smile on his lips and the saddest look in his eyes

Big burning inside, being mad at Tay, because he's so tired of being used, tired of feeling unworthy, but most importantly tired of seeing people so undeserving like Time having the privilege to handle a heart so precious as Tay's and crushing it repeatedly

Big train of thoughts being interrupted by someone shouting, and suddenly there are screams everywhere, and Big switch into bodyguard's mode instantly, keeping an eye on Kinn and Porsche, but also on Tay

Big being able to keep all of them safe but getting shot in the process

Big seeing Tay on the verge of crying before he passes out due to the blood loss

Big waking up in the hospital, and seeing Kinn and Porsche there, and feeling warm about it, but realizing there's no other lingering bad or unwanted feelings, just calm and peacefulness

Kinn making sure that he's okay and telling him he's going to reassign him to Kim for a while, to give him proper time to heal

Big being more than grateful, knowing that his body isn't the only part of him that needs healing, and welcoming the much needed break

Big managing to keep his face straight when as soon as Kinn walks out of the room, Porsche immediately takes out from his pocket a small card, and gives it to Big with a meaningful look, before walking out as well

Big looking at the phone number, written in the most elegant and endearing handwriting, and deciding that he's not ready, that this time he needs to properly protect and take care of his heart first

Big spending more than two months with Kim, and being exceptionally bored on a daily basis, due to the fact that Kim is spending his time desperately trying to fix all his past mistakes and properly find a way to apologize to Porchay

Big somehow trying to be helpful, giving few and spare advices once in a while, and being completely unperturbed at the realization that his thoughts never once wonder in Kinn's direction

Big being sincerely happy when he sees Kim and Porchay finally talking and making up, and taking out from his wallet the card he now regards as his most valuable possession

Big going to Kinn's office the next day and asking to be reassigned to him, and Kinn gladly accepting it

Big being on the edge for the next few days, until one night Porsche claims that he needs to go to the club, since they haven't been in way too long, plus Kinn, doesn't Big deserve some fun after babysitting their brothers for so long?

Big being impossibly grateful and feeling just the tiniest hint of regret for not accepting Porsche's friendship back in the day

Big entering the club that same night and scanning the whole room until he sees the only person who matters, and feeling his heart beat faster, and being impossibly worried cause, wasn't he supposed to protect it this time?

Big suddenly not having any more time to process his feelings because Tay is turning in his direction, and Tay is looking at him, and Tay is loosing the grip on his glass when he sees him, and seems completely unaware of Time loudly complaining about his poor, ruined shoes

Tay being unable to break the stare for what feels like an eternity, until Time gets up and says he's going to the restroom to clean himself up, and Tay turns to him to give him a small, apologetic smile

Tay trying to distract himself and having a conversation with Kinn and Porsche, but looking in Big's directions every few seconds

Big not once taking his eyes off Tay, but managing to make it look like is making sure of the well-being of his boss

Big getting increasingly annoyed by the fact that it's been already several minutes and Time is not getting back from the bathroom

Big deciding that he's going to do exactly what he's not supposed to, and after making sure the others have it covered, he goes to the bathroom

Big hearing moans coming from the last stall as soon as he enters

Big wanting to take his gun out, but when the door of the stall opens, he just uses his fists to punch Time, more than once, while the other guy just runs out

Big never being so furious in his entire existence, and only stopping when Kinn physically restrains him

Big looking at Kinn and feeling the same anger radiating from him, and expecting Kinn to punch him, except Kinn's anger seems also completely directed at Time

Kinn shouting a "GO" to Big, who doesn't think about it twice and just gets out

Big not knowing what to do, but crossing paths with Porsche who just lends him the keys of his bike

Big getting out from the backdoor and immediately climbing on the bike

Big hearing the door opening and seeing Tay running to him

Big looking at him and knowing in his heart that he would do it again, and again, because no one as good as Tay deserves to be treated like that

Big taking Tay's hand in his and whispering "come with me"

Tay unwilling to let go of Big's hand but also shaking his head, Tay saying the he can't, Tay saying that it would cause too many problems

Big knowing those are all excuses, Big knowing Tay is afraid, but Big also having decided that this time he's gonna protect himself

Big telling him that he will meet Tay halfway when Tay is ready, and just like that he's starting the bike, trying to put as much distance as he physically can between him and Tay

Tay feeling the same exact way he felt the first time he saw Big in that same exact spot, ready to lose it, ready to scream, except for a complete different reason

Tay going back inside, and suddenly hearing Time's loud threats, saying that he will kill Kinn's bodyguard, how dare he lay a hand on him

Tay seeing red and finally, finally being able to break free from his fears

Tay slapping Time so hard their entire group goes quiet

Tay proclaiming in a very calm voice that from that very same day, Big hadn't been working for Kinn, but for him

Tay telling Time that he was the one asking Big to follow him, as a form of protection of Tay's interests

Tay making very clear to Time that coming after his bodyguard would be like Time coming after him, and does he really want to do that?

Tay announcing in the most calm and detached voice that he and Time are officially not an item anymore, and starting to walk out the main entrance

Time having the audacity to go after Tay and yank him by the arm, except he only manages to get another slap, with Tay pointing his finger at him and telling him to never touch him again

Tay getting out of the club and feeling free like he hasn't felt in years

Tay getting his phone out of his pocket and finding a text with an address

Tay smiling brightly

In the six years since he got shot, Big’s life turned upside down. Life changes flooded one after the other. Good ones, bad ones, minor ones, major ones.

Everything started when the doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to be a bodyguard again. The bullet Tawan sent his way would have been fatal in most cases. Big was lucky to make it, but the abdomen gunshot wound increased the risk of him dying if he ever got shot again.

Back then, Big believed his life was thrown off the rails for good. He survived, but what was his purpose? Being the main family’s bodyguard was all he’d known since he was a teenager. Big was a lanky kid with no family left when they took him in. He owed the Theerapanyakul’s everything he became as a man: a loyal weapon that fired to protect.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore? I think probably Alec Scutter/ Maurice Hall from Maurice but I wouldn’t say I don’t care about them anymore

2. Which ship would you consider your first one? I had to think about this really hard. I don’t remember if it was George and Susan San Francisco from Alien Nation or Maurice Hall and Alec Scutter from Maurice.  I loved both of these couples fiercely but especially the former I haven’t even thought of until I started thinking about this. 

3. Your first fanfic was about which couple? I didn’t ever write it down till much later

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of? I apologize to artists – I do not!!

5. Have you ever gotten into ship discourse? With my social anxiety? Heavens no.

6. Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently? I guess I do but I honestly don’t think about it too much. Like I don’t read those ships but honestly can’t be bothered to block any content because I don’t care that much.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read? WeiLan from Guardian (Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan)

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? SO MANY (can one have multiple One True Pairings?  Yes, yes you can).  ZiNing (Ouyang Zizhen /Wen Ning) is my absolute number one.  But I also passionately love ChuGuo, BigTay, ChanPol, XiYao, YaoYang (CLs Yao and Ouyang), ZhuiLing, and Qin Su/Bicao.

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together? Okay so this is a bit of a deep cut and I refuse to google the names of the characters lest it upset me again. I adore the actor Rupert Graves (Probably because he plays Alec Scutter) and he was in this movie called Dreaming of Joseph Lees.  His character has sooooo much chemistry with the female lead and they are so good together. But in the end she goes back to her horrible and cruel husband because he’s been injured or something I don’t remember.  I just remember I was sooooo mad and it still upsets me to think about it now.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting? I mean probably if you have a really wide definition of ship and it encompasses my whole life of imagining fictional characters together. But I can’t think of one right now.  

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? I can’t think of anything. 

12. What is your favorite crack ship? People consider YaoYang to be a crack ship but like I don’t think I could be so passionate about them if I thought that. I am not writing them as a pairing as a joke.  I think the first time I wrote them seriously (a fic called A Call to Arms) I started it as a joke and a way to play with unreliable characters. But I ended up sort of getting in their heads and now I love them so much. Because I think people in my life find me annoying and a little too much of a know-it-all (who is often wrong about things) so I kind of identify with CL Yao in a way.  So but yeah I guess technically this is my favourite crack ship?

13. What is the couple you read the most fanfics about? Honestly, I guess WangXian just because there are the MOST of them. 

14. What do most of your ships usually have in common? Hmmmm.  I think, and maybe this is in all ships?, that each of the characters sees something in the other that no one else can. Like maybe everyone else thinks they are annoying (lol YaoYang) or just a sweet sexless cinnamon roll (ZiNing), or for whatever reasons the characters don’t think they deserve love or that anyone could love them.  I think that’s the thing.

15. What you absolutely hate in a ship? This is hard for me to answer because the whole point of fiction is that you can like things that would be terrible in real life.  So a dynamic that would suck irl could be a great ship dynamic?  I guess I don’t have an answer.

So, today I bring you more dumb headcanons of them that no one asked for

• Porsche wears reading glasses. Big never thought that he would find that oddly cute.

• Porsche tends to lose things (especially his glasses) and Big is the one who tells him all the time where said things are.

• Big usually has nightmares that tend to end in sleepless nights. Every time that happens, Porsche lies down next to him and they just talk about anything until they both fall asleep again.

• Porsche going to his parents grave (that, apparently are not as dead as we thought) and taking Big with him. Porsche says something like "Mom, Dad, this is my boyfriend. He tried to kill me on my first day of job, but i swear he's the best thing that ever happened to me." And then both start laughing

• Porsche being extremely detailed and curious, compiling in his mind ridiculously specific facts about Big, like his favorite book or how many spoonfuls of sugar he puts in his coffee. Big is surprised because no one had bothered to know those things about him.

• Porsche kissing Big's gunshot scar (because he's obviously alive and completely recovered, guys) every time he has the chance

Ok, because I need the kick in the ass to get this ball rolling, my idea thus far for the BigTay Vampire fic I have in mind.

This is a prequel of sorts to the other KimChay fic I was working on. (That was gonna be for Halloween before shit hit.) But basically it goes like so:

Tay and Time break up. It’s nasty. Like they’ve been together for a long time, and Tay only stayed because he felt like he had to. We’ll Time didn’t take the idea of Tay walking away too kindly. (Something something “Time did it mainly because of his family” something something.) And so as protection, Kinn gives Tay a bodyguard.

Enter Big. Now our boy has been hiding his feelings for Kinn for AGES, but Kinn is a vampire and his boss. Big is just a bodyguard and a human. Kinn is in his ‘Post-Tawan phase’ and isn’t looking at anymore humans anymore as potential love interests. (Tawan was just wanting Kinn for immortality, and Kinn figured shit out.)

So Big is now heartbroken and Tay is now heartbroken. And the two of them are at the moment of “I am just a job/doing my job, so let’s just coexist as best we can.” And trying to lick their wounds while healing. (It’s messy and not fun.) And something something finding healing with each other, but not them healing each other. Like they start to make each other smile and laugh for the first time in a while. Or feel seen and important for the first time in a while.

And then cut to them eventually catching feelings, and the chaos that ensues from that. I also have a hidden little thing of Tay being compared to a snake by Time/People, and him turning that into a strength and twisting that to make it his own power. And let’s just say Big sees Tay dressed up one day, and he is not doing well. Tay has no right, ok? Big is fighting for his life.

And that’s all I really have atm. It’s not super thought out, and will need so much work to get everything smoothed out, but yeah. There it be. @mortimerlatrice I hope this was a bit of your cup of tea.

You know what’s a heartbreaking ship?

BigTay.

Ok! Listen, before you walk away, hear me out: Both love someone who has never and will never love them the same way. They will bend over backwards to do anything for the ones they care about, but are easily forgotten and thought of as an ‘afterthought.’ Have devoted years of their lives to these people, to only then be treated like shit. And honestly cannot say no to their loves, even when they really should.

So imagine with me: Tay finally leaving Time. Big making it out alive and finally letting Kinn go. Time gets pissed and Tay gets offered protection by Big via Kinn because of Time being the worst. And oh looky here. Two heartbroken individuals who are similar, and who are in the perfect set up to help each other heal. And yes, fall in love. But also could just go platonic if you really wanted. But yeah… something just guts me about Big and Tay being broken and tired, but finding shelter and healing in each other.

They don’t ‘fix’ each other. They hold each other’s hands as they walk the path of healing and finding love that isn’t a one-way street. Of learning to love and value themselves more. Of finally finding someone who sees them and understands, while also making them feel important and loved.
