Porsche dragged Kinn out to Ayutthaya to enjoy the water fight for the first time ever. The bodyguards are panicking about it, Kinn got super competitive about it at first before Chay simply dumped a bucket over his head, and Tankhun somehow wound up on an elephant.

So as the OG quick'n'dirty I thought this deserved a remix aaaaaand since Lady covered the quick part I figured I'd do the dirty part!

The cocktails are sweet and sticky, perfect after a long day on the beach. Porsche kicks his feet a bit rocking back and forth on the swing.

He leans back, putting his glass in the sand now that he's done with it. Then he kicks his feet harder, propelling himself on the swing.

"Hey!" Kinn says, twisting to protect what's left of his own drink.

Porsche has managed to accidentally get sand on his boyfriend. Mischief sparks inside him and he can see the moment Kinn realizes it too.

"Don't you dare," Kinn says.

Porsche just grins at him and digs his toes into the sand.

Quick as he can, Kinn tosses back the rest of his drink, and just in time. Porsche kicks at the sand, sending a spray of it up and over Kinn.

"Dammit Porsche!"

He just throws his head back and laughs, rocking on the swing.

A hand wrapped around his ankle catches Porsche by surprise and he lets out a yelp as Kinn pulls him down off the swing.

"Let's see how you like it, brat."

A hand full of sand meets Porsche's face and he squirms in Kinn's grasp trying to get away. He manages, but not before the damage is done.

They look at each other, both pausing for a moment, and then it's on. Porsche tackles Kinn, who rolls, pinning Porsche underneath him. The grapple and toss sand on each other, neither giving in.

Porsche manages to swing his weight around and sit on Kinn, pinning him in place when he gets his hands around Kinn's wrists.

"Ha!" He crows in victory. "I win."

"Oh yeah?" Kinn replies, thrusting his hips up to try and dislodge Porsche.

He rides the motion, keeping Kinn where he wants him.

A glint enters Kinn's eyes and Porsche tenses up to see what the man will do next.

He thrusts up again and Porsche still maintains his seat. Kinn smirks.

"You do look so pretty when you ride me, sweetheart."

Oh fuck.

It seems to take nothing nowadays to get Porsche going around Kinn. A suggestive comment, the right type of look, fuck Kinn sitting in a chair a particular way, all it takes is one little thing and Porsche is ready to jump the other man.

Kinn spread out below him, making bedroom eyes at Porsche, that's more than enough.

"Up," he says, clambering off Kinn. "Up, up, up."

Kinn snickers but takes his hand.

"Something you want, darling?"

Porsche turns to his smug boyfriend. "Yes," he says. "You to fuck me till I can't come any more. You up to it?"

The fire ignites in Kinn's eyes and he's pushing Porsche back to their hotel. Porsche laughs but scrambles along with Kinn.

Tonight is going to be a good night.

This is one of those unanswered questions of canon that I think is really really fun to play with in fic. We have basically no information about their relationship besides it being a distant one. Yet when push comes to shove and Kim is up shit creek, he calls Kinn. To me that speaks of a bond that’s deeper than whatever shit is keeping them apart at the moment.

The plus side of canon leaving this so open ended is that you can play around with this a lot in fic. For me, I think changing up the reasons for the distance between the brothers is a good way to also establish the family dynamics.

OP addresses that in this explanation, the ways that Kinn and Kim interact being defined by Korn’s role in their lives.

So if you need a Kim who is more of a free agent you make the break from the family harder. Have him cut off fully. If you need another pivot point for Korn’s power or to have Kim and Kinn in contention with each other you can do that too.

One of the headcanons I’ve had a lot of fun with is what happens if it’s all an act? What if they play up the distance as a way to control how much information Korn has about their actions? The brothers are very good at putting on an act that is strategic do their needs in the moment. Yes, even Kinn can do this. So the idea of Kinn and Kim working together and Big being their go between? Not so far fetched in the long run.

what do you think is the reason why kim and kinn are so distant? do you think it was because of a major event(s) or a gradual build up?

so like. honestly, i think there are a ton of possibilities, and my headcanons for this change in every fic i write.

the version i'm most inclined toward though is that it was a gradual build-up, and that Korn was in a large part responsible. like, Korn's father pitted his sons against each other, it seems, and now Korn and Gun are enemies, so it would be reasonable to assume that Korn is perpetuating the continuation of that cycle – pitting Kinn and Kim against each other in subtle ways as they grow up.

One of my favorite headcanons is that, in reality, Kinn and Kim are being very specifically groomed for certain positions = Kinn as leader, Kim as enforcer (similar to how Korn and Gun are) but that, to create competition, Korn would subtly imply that if either of them didn't excel at their duties, they would be dismissed – and that could mean very bad things, in the mafia. (one idea that i like, is that Khun's kidnapping was orchestrated, because he was not fulfilling his duties to Korn's standards. [this would even work if it wasn't orchestrated, and just implied to have been] so Kinn and Kim both...suspect, very vaguely, and understand what may be in store for them if they fail). So, in my fic "this tender violence" i went with the headcanon that when the whole Tawan fiasco happened, Korn planted the seed in their minds that Kinn could be replaced by Kim, and the fallout for Kinn if that happened would be... not good.

Obviously, this would never actually happen, because Kim's role in the family has already been established, and Korn is not actually going to put someone like Kim in a leadership role, but it makes the boys more distrustful of each other because it pits them against each other in a very dangerous way. we can look at it as competition, but i think resentment is more apt. Kim doesn't want to become the leader, and he resents Kinn for putting him in that position. Kinn thinks Kim is preparing to replace him, and he's scared of what that would mean for him. It situates Kim as an enemy to him, to a certain extent.

This particular headcanon would give Kim a really strong incentive to leave the family – he's protecting Kinn, in a way, by removing himself from the equation, but he's also screwing over Korn and protecting his own feelings by avoiding Kinn. If they don't communicate to clear the air, all of that resentment and fear isn't going to go anywhere. And it seems from canon like Kim is particularly responsible for the distance between them, which would make a lot of sense with this headcanon. Kim would not want to reach out to someone he thinks views him as an adversary/enemy, and he'd also not want Kinn to know he's trying to protect him. His martyr-complex is too big for that.

this is the headcanon i'm inclined to go with these days, but i'm definitely interested in hearing other takes on it!

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning

If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:

These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:

But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.

Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.

If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.

Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.

Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
