We also keep a keen eye on Douglas news here at AlphabetSoup.
I feel like I can't do this extract comedic justice, it needs the Money Stuff treatment, TBH:
When questioned [Callum Davies] claimed he had won £2,000 on slot machines at the Palace Hotel and Casino on Sunday, adding: "I thought I didn't have to declare anything under £10,000."
However, the venue's manager confirmed the highest amount won was £600.
In any case only members were allowed to keep playing after winning more than £1,500, and Davies was not a member.
What would Matt Levine say, if the travails of IoM's petty criminals were of market interest?
Look I sympathise. There are times when you gotta transport the proceeds of your crimes, otherwise you risk a liquidity crisis. But, I dunno, maybe avoid telling over-elaborate, easily disproven lies if you get caught? Maybe just say an unnamed mate gave you cash and asked you scout out second-hand vehicles to buy? (Not legal advice!!)
Nope, I'm not up to the job. But my ardent wish is that Mr Davies somehow escapes justice and makes his way into the financial markets, providing much needed entertainment for the rest of us, via Money Stuff newsletters, for years to come.

So, the "Death of the Immortal" poem
...and though undying, took last breath immortal Laurelion was no more. White as the star's heart it pierced, ivory draconic brought death's bite known ever forth as the "Novablade"
And then Callum specifically describes the Novablade as "A weapon that can end a Startouch Elf's mortal existence". So whatever that means is up for debate (perhaps an immortal would simply become capable of death ((mortal)) rather than die), but it sounds like the Novablade has to go specifically through the heart of the immortal.
And
If Aaravos' chest piece, or heart, wasn't with him but actually inside the cube...then stabbing Aaravos himself might not work. But destroying the cube would.

I don’t understand cars. I thought it was best to call you… just to be on the safe side.
When Sadie sees Jimmy and Chloe walking together from afar then Robert working on a car, she gets an idea. That idea is to call Robert to look at her ‘problematic’ car (sound familiar) and she subtlety (pfft) puts the moves on him which he responds to… to a point.

ʜᴀᴍɪꜱʜ ᴊᴏɴᴇꜱ:
(FC: Peter Cushing)
A work-driven and highly ambitious, difficult man, Hamish had been given his father's trading company when he was in his late-twenties and was extremely determined to expand and employ a much more bigger work-force upon the harbours of Scotland. At a early age, his father Magnus had favoured him over Callum who was his second born and firmly believed Hamish to be his successor for the company.
This had caused a great strain in Hamish and Callum's relationship that would last for the rest of their lifetime, with the two both intensely competing to win their father's affection and attention. Hamish would be impossibly arrogant and would constantly clash with Callum who would later distance himself from his sibling as the years went by. Hamish saw his younger brother as a rival and was determined with besting him as much as possible.
After the business had been handed over to Hamish and then Magnus later retiring with the insistence that his eldest expand the Jones family, Hamish would begrudgingly go on in search of a wife and would meet and marry Isobel O'Connell who was the niece of one of the deckhands upon Magnus' ship that had been gifted to Hamish.
They would later start a family together to the delight of Magnus, and Hamish would be introduced to his first son which he would proudly name David Jones. Hamish attempted the same parenting tactics upon Davy as Magnus had done long ago however to his disappointment, it only created a steadily growing resentment for each other as Davy grew older.
Five years later, Isobel would have her second child which would be Oscar. He would keep his close attention upon Davy however Hamish would have to leave for years on end to work and sail around the country which he wasn't at all furious about in the slightest. Hamish would ensure Isobel would be the one primarily taking care and teaching his two sons while he left the household.
Hamish and Isobel had hardly of a relationship at all, if anything Hamish only had married her for the sake of expanding the family tree. There was next to no love between them, and Hamish saw no potential for her working in some way for his company. Isobel would already know this when they first got engaged to one another, but kept her marriage to Hamish for the sake of her sons.
When he would be at home, Hamish would keep strict and harsh discipline whenever he would be around his children just as if he were still sailing with his crew. Just like his father, he favoured Davy over Oscar as he believed that only the eldest son could once be fit and experienced enough to take charge of the company that Magnus had once pridefully constructed.
Hamish would not allow for both Davy and Oscar to have any freedom of any kind. He would rarely allow for them to play on the beach together like they usually would, and he would forbid them from reading books that were not about nautical information or topics that Hamish disliked and disapproved of. Isobel had attempted to lessen the difficult control Hamish had over the house, but to only get either ignored or yelled at.
Hamish and Davy would constantly argue with each other much to Hamish's rage as he was dedicated to shaping Davy to be just like himself. Hamish highly disapproved of Davy's passionate desire for sailing the seas and exploring the world, and would try to crush Davy's hopes or any sign of happiness whenever he could, taking great delight in his son's misery. When Davy would disobey him in any way, Hamish would angrily strike his hand upon him many countless occasions and even on Oscar if Davy didn't manage to convince him to punish him instead.
When Davy was old enough, Hamish practically forced him into working for the company otherwise he would be disowned and Hamish would have him tossed on the streets like garbage much to Isobel's horror. He would have Davy commit to various difficult and vigorous duties on his ship, not caring that a thirteen year old wasn't suitable for such demanding tasks.
At one point, Hamish had grown so enraged and impatient with Davy's behaviour that he would soon go on to employ a strict bosun onto his ship so that Hamish could further punish his son for daring to go against him, without the knowledge of Isobel.
Callum would soon made his way back into Hamish's life one again when he had met with his older brother in London and then shortly visited the household after years of not speaking. Callum would soon find himself and his own family short out on money that they desperately needed, and requested to be employed back into the company again. Hamish would once again gloat over his brother's poor position, boasting over his success of the company.
Hamish would allow for his sibling to gain a position within the company, and had Callum join the crew of his ship that Davy and soon Oscar and then Maccus sailed upon.
When Hamish had discovered Davy one night sneaking out from their room with a small crate full of food, he would find out that his son had been meeting with a homeless boy and had been giving him food and water. Hamish was beyond enraged. It was yet another argument that lasted two whole hours, and they'd even fought about Davy's desires to sail and explore the seas once again. Hamish had zero interest or care for the homeless, if anything he believed them to be vermin just like rats or even lesser people.
Hamish had intimidated Davy once again, threatening to leave him there in London with the homeless boy known as Maccus when he would sail back to Scotland. When Davy gave no sign of pleading or fright towards the threat, Hamish would brutally backhand him and left two open wounds on Davy's left cheek that would later scar.
Unfazed by his father's action, Davy heavily protested once more and promised that Hamish would have nothing to do with Maccus when they'd finally return home. Hamish would go on to ensure that his son would remember that promise, and so allowed for Maccus to join the crew.
A few years of managing the merchant company with great success which only inflated Hamish's ego more and more, his life would soon take a dramatic change when his ship that had recently taken a large load of cargo for transportation from Scotland would be viciously attacked by two pirate ships.
Hamish desperately attempted to steer the ship, trying to flee from their incoming cannons with a determined effort. However a cannon ball suddenly struck the ship's railing on his side, blasting pieces and shrapnel of wood straight towards his direction. Hamish would be brutally knocked out from the impact, and wounded from the explosion.
With the captain no longer at the helm to give orders, Callum would quickly take leadership and aided his crewmembers in the brutal battle and he would lead them to victory as the pirates later would flee from their powerful resistance.
At first when Callum had finally made it back to Hamish after the fight, he had assumed for his older brother to have perished but after checking for his breathing and discovering that Hamish was still alive, Callum would take him into his cabin to lay him on his bunk and tended to his wounds as best as he could.
Hamish would recover from his injuries and trauma months later, but his hearing had been terribly damaged from the sudden blast from the cannon to the point where he became partly deaf with a distant and constant ringing noise in his left ear. He gained a limp he could not control and he had to use a cane for assistance on getting around. He couldn't be able to return to sailing, and he would resentfully hand his company to Callum.
He would later discover that his youngest son Oscar had unfortunately been killed during the fight, but he expressed no sadness or remorse for what had occurred. However, he had stated his anger over the attack, enraged that much of his skilled crew that had loyally served the company for decades, had perished by the hands of filthy pirates. Once again, this would cause another fiery argument with him and his now only son, Davy.
Hamish would retire early and became a farmer alongside Isobel, and he would spend the rest of his life time on land. He would force Isobel to place her pipe organ upstairs in the attic after growing sick with the loud music.
Callum would occasionally meet with him to discuss company matters at home, but not much notable things occurred in Hamish's life any longer. He would be aware of his son becoming a far greater sailor than he ever was, and would be notified of what Davy would be doing on his sails from the letters that Isobel monthly received from their son.
Hamish once again shared of his displeasure of Davy exploring the seas and not serving the company, but very surprisingly he was impressed upon how far his son's skills had grown over the years.
He would eventually pass of old age in his bedroom soon after his wife Isobel had died from a disease, and they would be both be later buried near to their home.
Hamish didn't care much for his family, making his job of being a merchant sailor his priority over anything that involved being with his wife and sons. He was brought up as a spoiled and arrogant man, much that had to do with his own father Magnus' parenting, and would constantly try to best his younger brother Callum.
He had only engaged and married Isobel for the sake of her bearing children for him, and was mostly distant from her. Hamish had barely a relationship with Isobel, and only kept her around for her responsibility as a wife and a mother to his two sons.
Hamish would set his eyes upon Davy as soon as he was born, and was determined for his first son to end up to be just like him. He was involved in Davy's life as much as he could, and had even planned ahead for him. All for the sake of continuing the family business of course. He didn't expect for Davy to end up disliking him more and more as the years went by.
Hamish would find Davy's interest in the sea and discovering areas that none had found before to be foolish and fantasy-like, and intensely prohibited him from following any such mindless dreams of his which would ultimately failed later in life.
With Oscar being born, Hamish would pay little to no attention to his second son. He saw no future of Oscar making an impact upon his company, or taking charge of it when he was old enough. Hamish would leave it up to his wife to look after him when he was away sailing with Davy. Oscar would sometimes get upon his father's dangerous nerves, but not up to the extent of Davy and so Oscar never really received much punishment from Hamish.
Nevertheless, Hamish would still believe Oecar to be worth of nothing and had no valuable skills he could provide which only added fuel to the furious fire between Davy and Hamish.
Rarely did he ever see his eldest again after the tragedy of losing Oscar, Davy would go on to achieve his goals and fulfil his dreams of sailing the seas. Hamish would only give one last glance towards Davy when his son would return home to pay his mother a visit for his fortieth birthday...
Hamish had been slowly making his way up the squeaking staircase with one steady hand on the railing and the other held tight around his cane when he had heard the door gently swing open with a long creak, he turned his head slowly towards the sound and spotted a tall figure stepping into the house.
Halting halfway up the stairs, his grey eyebrows rose with slight surprise.
It would reveal to be his son, David Jones.
He had grown much taller, with the age making itself early upon his face and his eyes bright as though he'd seen all of the gorgeous everlasting sea. Davy's dirty blonde hair was lightly curled down to his shoulders, with a growing beard upon his chiseled jaw. His cheekbones were high and more defined on his face. A far cry from the young, optimistic boy who obsessed over the ocean's mysterious secrets from decades ago.
Davy was dressed with a rich ocean blue coat with a golden trim and a crimson patterned waistcoat, a large navy hat would complete his elegant appearance along with a thick brown belt tied around his waist which held a striped sash.
He appeared much differently from the last time Hamish had last set his old eyes upon him, and the two could only stare at each other with no words spoken between them.
Just an untelling stare from father to son.
They would both hear Isobel in the next room calling out for her son in a joyful greeting, and Davy would quickly turn away to head towards his mother's direction as if he didn't see his aged father in the first place. Like he had merely seen a ghost from his past.
Hamish would watch his son walk away and exit the room, and he then continued taking his slow steps up the staircase.
Unaware of that moment being the last they would ever see each other...

(FC: Billie Whitelaw)
Isobel was far much more kinder and warm-hearted than her husband. She grew up in a loving household but her parents would then perish at sea when their ship would capsize from the rogue waves. Isobel would be passed into the care of her uncle Finn when she was fifteen, and grew up under his care.
Finn worked as a deckhand on board Magnus Jones' ship and was away for extended amounts of time, leaving her to fend for herself for most of her early life.
Isobel would be alone at her uncle's small home and grew up by herself with a few friends to keep her company, but she had a tended farm to keep her busy and well fed. Her uncle would return home, and would attempt to make it up to her for the time that they were apart by helping her with their farm and going on walks together. He'd tell her all about his sails and what he would get up to during his duties and so on.
Finn would go on to buy a pipe organ for her after hearing her desire to learn a musical instrument, and she was overwhelmed with happiness when Finn revealed it to her. She would spend many days gladly practicing and playing it.
Nearly a decade later, Finn would return to sail once again under the new leadership of Hamish Jones and he would find out that his captain was searching for someone to engage.
Finn realised that if something should happen to him at sea just like the tragedy that took Isobel's parents, then his niece surely wouldn't be able to stay in that house any longer and she didn't have any sort of income either. He would offer his niece for marriage to Hamish, and his captain would eagerly accept.
After giving the news to Isobel, she was at first angered that her uncle had made the offer to someone that they had barely knew. She was highly apprehensive over being married to a complete stranger, but after Finn's heavy explaining over how she'd have completely nothing if he should die at sea, Isobel was mostly convinced to accept Hamish's future proposal to her.
She would be in likely good hands and she would be married to the head of a very financially successful company, and there would no be threat of Isobel dying poor and utterly alone.
Weeks later, Isobel would be married to Hamish and she would move to his large and wealthy home near the sea. She would continue her farm work on his land, and had much more duties to commit to which she wasn't particularly disappointed about. If anything, she enjoyed all the new tasks that were handed to her.
She would unsurprisingly discover Hamish's unpleasant personality as the days with him passed. Isobel didn't enjoy hearing his arrogance and hot-headedness when she was in his company, and learned that he didn't have any sort of fondness for her which she was greatly saddened to discover. Isobel would distract herself from the painful feelings by taking walks on the beach and paying close attention to her duties in the house.
She had her pipe organ brought with her when she moved, and would continue to play it and write sheets of music in her spare time.
Eventually, she would bear her first child for Hamish and he would give him a name which would be David Jones. Isobel devoted the whole of her time looking after and caring for Davy, she felt incredible fondness for her son and loved him so much. She made it her priority to look after and tend to her son over the years he was growing up.
Isobel would take him to the beach where they would both play on the sand and in the water when it would be warmer weather, and to her delight her son would begin taking his first steps upon soft sand when he grew into a toddler. Isobel would inform Hamish over Davy's upbringing whenever his father would return home.
She would then go on to teach Davy how to speak and how to write, reading books to him and comforting whenever he couldn't fall asleep at night with a soft lullaby.
Her uncle Finn would be delighted to meet Davy when he was allowed to visit her, and he would happily talk to him all about sailing and the ocean until he needed to return to his job.
Isobel would then again bear another child, and this time she was able to name the baby boy herself, and she had named him Oscar. She was delighted to see Davy and Oscar get along incredibly well like two peas in a pod together, and her eldest would assist her in taking care of Oscar whenever she was busy with other household chores.
All three would continue heading to the beach together, and she would watch on with such fondness and adoration when Davy and Oscar were playing together and gifting her shells that they'd find washed up on the shores.
Eventually the simpler and happy times had to come to an end as when Hamish came home, he and Davy would never see eye to eye and Isobel would be horrified to see Hamish angrily striking his hand upon Davy on more than one occasion. She'd protect her sons as much as she was able to, but kept trying to plead with Hamish but sadly there wasn't much else to say or do as her husband wasn't really one to be convinced so easily.
She wasn't able to read to Davy and Oscar as often as she could when Hamish was home as he forbade her from reading them any books to them as he suspected that she was secretly reading them fairytales behind his back.
Isobel couldn't do much to stop Hamish from employing Davy into the company when he just turned thirteen, but pleaded with her son that it could be good for him as he'll be able to see more of the ocean that he was interested in so much. When Davy left under the strict leash of his father, she had remained at home and continued caring for Oscar who was only eight.
She and Oscar cared for each other so much, Isobel had recognized the intense favouritism and attention coming from Hamish towards Davy and she was determined to give as much love as she possibly could towards Oscar.
They'd both cook together, tend to the gardens as well as go on plenty of beach visits and walks during Davy's absence, and Isobel would happily read more books to Oscar as Hamish wasn't around to tell them off for doing so.
When Davy and Hamish eventually returned, she was greatly surprised and alarmed to see a small and very skinny boy shyly trailing close behind Davy, trying his best to not be seen by Hamish who paid zero attention to the boy.
It was quickly revealed to Isobel by Davy, that the boy was a homeless one that he had found on the streets and Davy just couldn't leave him to further starve there. He'd also named the boy Maccus since he didn't even have a name nor a family to look after him.
Isobel would then without haste, adopt Maccus as her own which would annoy Hamish but she didn't care any less, and made Maccus incredibly welcome in the household. She would parent him like she had done with Davy and Oscar, teaching him to write and read and giving him plenty of warm food to fill his belly.
One night after Maccus had arrived, Isobel would notice that Davy's back was bleeding through his shirt and she then would see two thin healing cuts upon the left of his face. As much as Davy attempted to distract her from paying more attention upon him and prying into the blood stained shirt, she would once again be mortified to see that his back was littered with long lines of cuts caused by a bosun's whip.
Isobel would find out that it all was Hamish's doing, and she would storm out the room and confront Hamish on the matter who would be completely unfazed and disregarding over the matter. When she shouted at him over the abuse towards her sons, Hamish would threaten to leave all of them on the streets to starve just like Maccus had nearly did.
Proving to be a failure, Isobel would retreat back to Davy's room and would tend to his injuries as much as she possibly could as she ignored the tears streaming down her face.
He would fall asleep in her protective arms when they both laid upon Davy's bed after Isobel had told him a tale of the untamable goddess of the sea, Calypso.
The next day, Davy would seemed to be highly interested in the pipe organ that she was playing that evening, and she would then happily begin teaching him the fantastical skill over several weeks. Both enjoying their time with each other as they both passionately talked of music. Isobel would teach Davy how to play the lullaby that she had sung to him when he was little, and it would prove that he was just as talented as his mother.
Hamish's brother Callum had then visited the household after nearly a decade of not speaking, Isobel had only met him one time and he had seemed to be far nicer company than his older brother. He and her would look after the boys after she would tell him all about his nephew's upbringing along with her uncle Finn when he would visit. She loved Callum as though he were the brother she never had, and he also shared that same protective fondness for her too.
Eventually all three of the boys had to depart with Hamish, Callum and Finn to sea, leaving Isobel once again by herself as she used to be years ago before she had children.
Isobel had greatly missed the company of her sons and found herself having frequent periods of utter sorrow as she barely had anyone to talk to. She kept to her duties in the house as well as she could, and once again distracted herself from feeling saddened to be left behind at home.
However, this would prove to be nothing compared to the event that would happen next.
One unexpected storming night, Callum would return home, along with Davy and Maccus. But Oscar wouldn't be there, or her uncle Finn.
Isobel was beyond devastated.
Callum would notify her of the brutal attack that had taken place on board Hamish's ship, and pirates had taken the lives of countless people including her young son Oscar and her uncle, and they would begin planning funeral arrangements whilst their intense mourning period had begun.
Davy had locked himself away in his room for several days as soon as he arrived home, not eating anything that Isobel would try to bring him outside his door and not communicating with anyone who attempted to speak to him, or unlocking his door. Isobel would find out from Maccus who she was comforting one rainy night that Davy had held Oscar in his final moments and hadn't left his side until he was forced to when they arrived back on land. Her heart nearly broke at the thought of such an agonizing sight.
After helping Maccus to fall asleep in his warm bed, Isobel would make her way to Davy's room to check upon him. She would knock at the door but receive no answer, but she would enter anyway after seeing that the door had been unlocked and she would discover Davy curled up on his bed, muffling his sobbing silent from the rest of the house with intense and failing determination. Isobel would lay in bed with him again, softly pulling her crying son into her arms once more.
Davy would not fight back against this, and utterly collapsed against her, bursting into yet more uncontrollable tears.
"It hurts so much..." Davy choked on his sobs, his voice completely hoarse from not speaking for days as he tried to bury his face in his mother's gown. His shaking fingers desperately holding tight against her.
"I know it does, my darling."
"Ah couldn't do anything to-- to stop it. He just came from nowhere..."
"Shh, shh it's not your doing, Davy. Do not blame yourself." Isobel shushed, her hands finding the sides of his crying face as she gently lifted his head so that she could see his eyes.
His once bright light blue eyes were bloodshot, his face was deathly pale and had seemed to have lost any joy he once had felt weeks and weeks ago. Davy looked completely drained and at a lost for everything. Like the world had crushed him and taken every bit of happiness that he held. His lips trembled, and the droplets of tears streaming from his eyes seemed to be never ending.
"But if Ah had been quicker, if Ah was at Oscar's side sooner then perhaps-- ?"
"It is not your fault, listen to me," Isobel moved her fingers through his blonde curls for comfort. "Oscar's death was beyond your doing."
"Ah was supposed to protect him, as his brother. And Ah could not even do that. Ah'm so sorry...sorry..."
Davy would eventually cry himself to sleep as Isobel continued to hold him, her heart crumbling to pieces at the sight of her son so distraught and completely broken.
Isobel would find out of her husband's terribly injured state, and would stay at his bedside a few times to keep an eye on his wounds. Even though she didn't bear any love towards him or likeness, she would still take care of him since she was his wife after all and he was the father of her children.
They would bury uncle Finn in the backyard, and they had planned to do the same with Oscar too but Davy quickly interjected and insisted upon burying his young brother upon the beach that they would spent most of their time during their childhood.
Oscar would then be then lowered into the grave on the beach, and all the Jones family would upsettingly give their goodbyes towards Oscar. Davy would remain stood upon next to the grave many hours after the family had departed, and Isobel would keep watch of him from a window inside the house.
That late night, Isobel would notice that Davy still hadn't returned and she would quickly make her way back to the beach and would discover him passed out asleep next to the grave. She then picked him up and carried him back to the house. Isobel would tuck him in his bed, with Davy sleepily protesting against her doing so but she would then sit herself down next to his bed and sing him to sleep like she had done years ago.
Six months later when Isobel would bring him a warm breakfast in the morning, she would see that Davy was not in his room and not even in the house at all. Maccus had disappeared too with no signs of them even being there except for their beds not tidy. When she would immediately question Callum upon the matter, to her panic he did not have any knowledge of where the two had gone either.
They searched the beach and then would discover Hamish's ship missing when they would investigate the nearby port. They quickly panicked once more, confronting the harbormaster on the matter. He revealed that he saw two older boys quickly heading towards the ship with a determined pace in the early morning but when he had tried to head towards them, the ship had already begun sailing away in the harbor like there was already a crew aboard.
Callum and Isobel were both at a incredulous and heartbroken loss, believing for Davy and Maccus to have ran away and taken the ship with them. Isobel and Callum would return home after all there wasn't much they could do now. They had no idea where the two could possibly sail to, and didn't know if they would come back.
But eventually, Davy and Maccus did indeed come back home and step through the front door after many weeks of Isobel and Callum worrying intensely about them. After hurriedly checking that the two were unharmed, Isobel would angrily scold them both for leaving so suddenly and without her and Callum's knowledge.
"Those horrid pirates could have come after both of you once more! They could have taken you away from me like they had done with our Oscar and Finn and Ah would have no knowledge of what happened to you for the rest of my life!"
Isobel cried with outrage, her deep blue eyes darting to meet both of the boys ones as they stared down at the ground solemnly. Their faces were mildly covered with dirt and minor cuts, and their clothes were reflecting of their faces, torn and stained as if they were living off the streets.
"How could you do this to me and Callum? Ah was beginning to believe that Ah had lost both of you! Do you not realise the great amount of care and love Ah have given you for years for you both only for you two to go off and abandon us?"
"We did not abandon you, mothah! We never could!" Davy instantly looked up to meet her tearing gaze, unknowing of his own salty tears slowly trailing down his cheeks.
"Then why did you leave and take your father's ship-- ?!"
"Because Ah wanted tah avenge my brothah Oscar!"
Isobel was silent for a few moments, taking one small step back as her eyes widened with shock from the outburst from him. She continued to stare at Davy as he turned his eyes away in intense shame and guilt, wiping his arm across his eyes as he swallowed back a sob in his throat.
"What do you mean by avenging your brother? You didn't...?" She whispered in growing denial and dread. Her stomach churned, he couldn't have...
"We sought out to find Oscar's killer, we needed a ship to find him," Maccus answered, also seeming to be equally as guilty as Davy next to him, his ashamed and watering eyes not looking at Isobel like he were terrified to see her expression.
"Maccus...no..." Isobel quietly gasped. Part of her did not want to listen in fear of what he would say.
"Davy found him, and slayed him in return for taking away our brother..."
Isobel would collapse on her knees and burst into tears, she didn't want for Davy to risk his life just so he could extract revenge upon the man who took Oscar's life. She would be furious and also horrified at the thought of Davy killing someone else. But part of her was relieved that justice was served upon the man.
She just didn't want her eldest to be the one to do it, and she feared that Davy had set himself upon a path that would be nigh impossible to escape from.
As the decades passed on after that day, many things had changed. Davy and Maccus would depart from the company to pursue their goals and gain their own ship and a crew that Isobel had discovered shortly after the two boys returned home. And Hamish would retire when he recovered, he handed the company to his brother and became a farmer with Isobel.
Callum would return home to his own family, promising to keep in touch with Isobel with letters.
Unfortunately, Isobel would have to sadly lock her pipe organ away in the attic after Hamish's intense complaining but decided to eventually gift it to Davy when he next would return home with Maccus. She kept in regular contact with them, sending and receiving plenty of letters from the two talking of their sails and Davy gifting her all sorts wooden carved figures he made during his travels which she would display at home.
She would occasionally share the letters with Hamish if he were curious, and to her complete shock he seemed to be impressed of their eldest son's skills and the far places he had sailed to.
As she grew older with her grouchy husband, she found herself struggling more and more with regular household work but was able to get around the house. One evening, Davy and Maccus would both return in time for Davy's fortieth birthday.
They were much older now, and were delighted to share all of their stories with their mother.
Isobel would be gleeful to see the two, and proud of them both and how much they had accomplished on the seas, insisting that Oscar would be incredibly proud of his older brothers as well. She would finally be able to give her pipe organ to Davy, and together one last time when Hamish was out for a walk, they played the instrument together and recalled the time where Davy was young as Isobel as his teacher.
Unknowingly, this would be the final time that they would ever see each other ever again.
Davy and Maccus would once again set sail from Scotland, pursing the Caribbean as their next great destination with Isobel's pipe organ onboard their ship.
Months later with suddenly no letters coming from Davy, Isobel would fall deathly sick one humid day after collapsing in her garden for several minutes. Hamish would then discover her and would then carry her to her bedroom and lay her to rest before contacting Callum quickly.
Callum would bring a doctor with him and Isobel would be diagnosed with a horrific parasite that had steadily turned her fingers black and gave her consistent nausea and headaches. Hamish in the meantime would distance himself away from the sight in disgust.
She would only have perhaps a few weeks or days to live, and she would then plead with Callum to notify and bring Davy and Maccus home. She hadn't received a letter from him for months and that wasn't like him to just go completely silent upon her. Isobel would attempt to send one last letter, but she had no knowledge of it making it to Davy or not.
Isobel would soon pass away in her bed from the illness, weakly begging for Callum to find and bring her two boys back home before her dying breath. She would be later buried next to her uncle Finn.
Isobel was devoted to her family, she greatly cared for her sons and she gave them so much love and appreciation for them all that their father couldn't give them. She was a kind and beautiful woman who was often lonely in her house before she became a mother and when her children went off sailing.
She once held hope for Hamish to love her like a husband was supposed to do, but she was saddened to find out that he had only married her just for her sons. But she cast aside her lingering sadness for the love of her children.
She maintained the household and kept up to her duties with intense and dedicated keenness, as she felt utterly useless if she wasn't doing something. Isobel had a passionate interest with music that Davy would later share, and would gift him the music sheets she created. Along with one certain melody that he would play for many more years.
Isobel would give the same amount of love towards both Davy and Oscar and later Maccus after seeing Hamish's favour towards the eldest which was Davy, insisting that even though their father didn't share any shed of that love, all three were incredibly loved and cared for.
Isobel was a loving mother, and would be consistently proud of her boys as they grew older. But the passing of Oscar and her uncle would make a mark upon her, as she realised that one random day they could likely be taken away from her. She had appreciated life to the fullest, even when hers was slowly fading when she was upon her deathbed.
Isobel would have no knowing of the future of Davy and Maccus, and she would go to pass on to the afterlife with her husband Hamish shortly following her months later...
