Bye Bye Cawood Brewery, Kveðja to Miðgarð Brewhouse.
You might have noticed I've rebranded again, sort of. Same logo but new name. Cawood Brewery was always a bit of a "can't think of a better name" name and especially now that there are quite a few more homebrewers in the village then when I first used it, I thought it was time to make the switch. I'm keeping the Cawood Sword on there though. It had to be Viking themed of course, as most of my beer names are. For those that don't know Midgard is the anglicised version of Miðgarðr, meaning Middle Yard, or Middle Earth in Old Norse. This is the word where we live within other 9 realms in Norse Cosmology. I've kept the old ð letter where I could and dropped the r for a slightly different spelling, as there are a few Meaderies out there using Midgard but surprisingly few breweries. So even if I am just a homebrewer I've got a pretty unique name I hope.

This Blade has ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from our customers.
🗡️The Hanwei Cawood Sword🗡️
The celebrated Cawood Sword named after its discovery location near Cawood Castle in England, is regarded as one of the finest and best-preserved examples of an 11th century Viking sword in existence. Preserved in the mud of the bed of the River Ouse for almost a millenium, the sword has now found a permanent home in the Yorkshire Museum, where it is a leading attraction. What is almost certainly a sister sword was unearthed in Norway in 1888, giving a valuable clue to the Cawood Swords origin.

2018 Rebrand
I think I did quite well to stick with my last logo and branding as long as I did, the Graphic Designer itch always being there, lol. But now that I needed to edit my labels a bit to fit the new glass bottles I’m using I ended up with a whole rebrand featuring the famous Cawood Sword and a 1800s map of Cawood as the background. I do love my history and my village is certainly one that’s packed with it.
And just FYI if you’re not from Yorkshire then it’s pronounced “cay-wood”, who knows why!?! (well probably because the land originally belonged to John DeCaywood)
So new branding now in full effect and this one might last a little longer as I made sure it was transferable across mediums, oh and I’m really please with it too, lol.

The Cawood sword is regarded as "one of the finest Viking swords ever discovered". It is nearly 1,000 years old and is the fifth sword of its type ever to be found and by far the best preserved.
The sword was found in the River Ouse near Cawood in North Yorkshire in the late 19th century. It was displayed at the Tower of London until the 1950s and then sold into private hands. It was acquired by the Yorkshire Museum, York in December 2007, where it was on display for two weeks in December 2007 and January 2008. After conservation work it is now back on display in the museum.
