The Lazy Bowl tavern and inn

A smaller building with three floors; one for the tavern, two for the guest rooms(4 small single rooms[5sp], 2 small rooms with double beds[1gp], and 4 moderate rooms with 2 double beds[8cp]). The innkeeper lives in a moderate room on the first floor. The food is made with local produce, spices, and meat.

Monday: Atolla sea chili; made with crabmeat, shrimp, and sea scallops, tomatoes, celery, corn, green onions, kidney beans, and colorful bell peppers. It's a very spicy dish with a hint of sweetness at the end. It's served with sweet rolls and a drink of your choice.(5sp)

Tuesday: Grilled bass or trout and mixed vegetables(made up of mushrooms, beets, yellow squash, brussels sprouts, and asparagus). Served with either Rye Bread or a side salad and a drink of your choice.(10cp)

Wednesday: Fish of the day(up to you) with garlic sauce and noodles. Served with mixed fruit(also up to you) and a drink of your choice.(6cp)

Thursday: Fish and chips or Rum-Glazed Shrimp, batter scraps , and rye bread and butter. Served with a drink of your choice, and if wanted lemon wedges and/or a sauce(Tartare, Salt and vinegar, or curry). (3sp)

Friday: Baked Salmon with lemon and garlic, cabbage and rutabaga Slaw, and mixed berry salad. Server with rolls and a drink of your choice.(3sp)

Saturday: Beef stir-fry made with bell peppers, snap peas, carrots, water chestnuts, and green onions. It has a delicious scent and taste combination. Served with a drink of your choice and either sweet rolls or crab cakes.(5sp)

Sunday: 1. Garlicky Lemon Mahi Mahi, seared scallops, ruby red beet & apple salad, and baked potato. Served with a drink of your choice and either sweet rolls or rye bread & butter.(8sp)

2. Seafood Jambalaya made with shrimp, two buttermilk cornbread muffins, collard greens, and corn on the cob. Served with a drink of your choice and either crab balls, hush puppies, or rolls.(6sp)

"What is this feeling?... Why am I experiencing it only just now?"

The Underwater Empire of Cnidar had sent in one of its newest and brightest operatives to terrorize the surface world. And in agreement with the subterranean Mantle Army, their attack would not be limited to their enemies in the peace-loving city-state of Seatopia, but also the surface by way of Delta Bay. To the Seatopians, they were defended by the mighty warrior-mage Taria, and to Delta Bay, her friend and ally Rex. The operative in question, [ABYSSAL BIONIC INFILTRATOR] "Atolla" had fought long and hard against them, aided by his immediate superior, the fearsome Baron Cuda, Cnidar's legendary battleship-sinking commander.

All that changed though. Atolla watched as some Planktogrunts-- the Cnidar's standard foot soldiers, fresh from a separate mission on the Baron's command, were destroying a field of the most beautiful spring flowers Atolla had ever seen. He felt something within himself growing sick. They said the reefs and coral of his own home had to take the world back from the abominations that abandoned the love of the primordial soup.

So why was Atolla unable to stop shedding tears?

Just as a snickering Planktogrunt prepared to aim a weapon that shot toxic globules at the first of a set of long-lived trees, Atolla sprinted forward. The cybernetics in his limbs letting off a reverberating echo as the mechanisms accelerated him. And with a swing, he struck as hard as he could with a stinger-punch, before being dogpiled by Planktogrunts. Until the towering Baron Cuda appeared himself, catching Atolla on his trident and holding him up high.

"This be treason, Atolla!" thundered the Baron. "Nothing less than total destruction will plunge the surface back into our rightful grasp. Do you forget who funded your prosthetics? Your innumerable reconstructions?! Does that not warrant loyalty?!"

Just then, the form of a heavyset woman who had a strong resemblance to the Maori people leaped in with a dropkick, and casted a water-spell that fired heavy liquid bolts like a silo of missiles. Rex was not far off, disarming Planktogrunts of the heavier weaponry they were using to raze the Earth. In both of these heroes with piddling reputations, they felt fury like never before. Whether it was Cnidar, Mantle, the Enforcers, the Pithy Randos-- whoever, it hurt to see them crush their own under a heel.

Atolla was in and out of consciousness after a sustained beating. The last thing he remembered before waking up in a Seatopian hospital, was Rex helping him sit up against a surviving tree. Taria crouched on the side opposite. His only words a desperate plea he uttered until he lost consciousness:

"The deep trenches... the volumes close to the surface of the blue sea... the vastness of space where the stars hover, and the breadth of the blue sky. I didn't know there was something really, truly living in-between them, like a bridge. It may not be my home, but I could never accept my own in the ocean if I continued to destroy yours."

...

"I'm sorry for what I've done, just please. Please don't let it go to waste. I *wish* I'd gotten it sooner."

And as he drifted out of consciousness, his former foes seemed to sympathize.

"Better late than never, right?"

Vocalize! Pretty Cure Debut

A basic info post, describing the plot, as well as a few of the characters, magical and not, you��ll meet during the story.

Summary

On the other side of a magical mirror, located as the centerpiece of a large theatre, lies the world known as Vocaisle. On this magical island live the humanoid beings known as Voicekeepers, and the small bird-like creatures known as Tuners. Together, the two species keep guard over voices worlds over, via the use of special gemstones known as Cordstones, which hold the power to both give and take away one’s voice.

Beyond that, the people of Vocaisle love to sing, and hold regular singing competitions, including the annual Vocaisle Royal Concerto Matchup, held in the royal palace by the king and queen of the island every ten years. Whoever wins the matchup gains the honor of being recruited as one of the keepers of the Cordstones.

On the day the matchup was to next be held, however, a great tragedy struck. The Cordstones had gone missing, and every competitor’s voice along with them. Soon, an evil group calling themselves The Eternal Silencers appeared, Cordstones containing countless voices in hand, and just as many empty ones waiting to be filled. Their goal? The conquering of Vocaisle and silencing both that world and the rest connected to it.

Unable to beat the group with their powers weakened via the Cordstones changing owners, the king and queen settled on the next best thing: sending the remaining empty stones away through the magical mirror, onto Earth, in hopes that it would at least allow them to bide time to recover their strength and magic. Along with those, they sent the special Sparkling Cordstones, along with special Tuners, to seek out the legendary Pretty Cure for aid.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the mirror, there was the creative arts-loving city of Kurotsukawa. Leading this city were the Inoue family; Mayor Jirou Inoue, his wife Fuyuko Inoue, and their only child, Kasumi Inoue, a friendly, yet melancholy middle school girl who, unbeknownst to most others - even her close friends - held a dream of one day forming a band and singing her heart out in order to bring smiles to others.

While singing out on her balcony one day, she happens to be overheard by Pin-Kaka, a Tuner who came to Earth to help distribute the Sparkling Cordstones. After an attack from the Eternal Silencers, who had come in search of the scattered empty Cordstones, Pin-Kaka approaches Kasumi, whose house was nearly a casualty from the assault, and using both the Sparkling Cordstone they carried with them and a device known as the Cordstone Mic, allows her to transform into the shining warrior of voice, Cure Alto!

Now, its up to Kasumi to aid in finding the rest of the Pretty Cure and defeating the Eternal Silencers...otherwise, nobody will be able to sing ever again, let alone speak!

Pretty Cure

Kasumi Inoue // Cure Alto “Let the voice of the earth reach out to you! The shining warrior of voice, Cure Alto!”

The first of the Pretty Cure to awaken to her powers. Being the daughter of the mayor, Kasumi’s expected to try and take over his position one day. Instead, she’d rather sing her heart out onstage, and dreams of one day leading her own band. Despite her somewhat melancholy expressions, Kasumi’s quite friendly to those willing to talk to her.

Kaoru Yamazaki // Cure Soprano “Let the voice of the sky drift to you! The soaring warrior of voice, Cure Soprano!”

Despite her somewhat standoffish demeanor and tendency to stay away from the crowd, Kaoru’s actually quite friendly and peppy. A main reason she tends to shy away is due to her shyness with interacting with cute girls! Kaoru gets crushes incredibly easily, and doesn’t want to let any possible friendships feel awkward because of that fact.

Age: 14 Cure Color: Purple Represents: ‘Soprano’ voice type & the sky Special Solo: Soprano Vocal Wings Band Role: Lead Guitarist & Lead Singer Likes: Cute girls, writing songs, sunsets Dislikes: Swimming, getting caught off guard, the cold

Akemi Hisakawa // Cure Falsetto “Let the voice of the sea wash over you! The flowing warrior of voice, Cure Falsetto!”

A young girl studying to become a marine botanist. Akemi takes her studies incredibly seriously, and even spends summertime studying the days away! She’s stern and serious, and doesn’t like to see people slacking off when there’s something important to be done. Akemi often plays guitar in order to try and wind down when really stressed.

Tuners

Pin-Kaka

Kasumi’s partner Tuner. Pin-Kaka is incredibly formal, refusing to use even a hint of casual language, and does his best to serve Kasumi to the fullest...even if it can get a bit on her nerves. Secretly, he adores sweet fruits, but tries to hide his excitement at being given one whenever he is.

Partner: Kasumi/Cure Alto Color: Pink Likes: Sweet fruits, serving others, perfection Dislikes: Acting out, imperfection, bitter tea

Mura-Kaka

Kaoru’s partner Tuner. Mura-Kaka is very ladylike and graceful, but also has a bit of a bite to her when she gets angry. She gets along well with Kaoru, though she tends to be a bit pushy towards her when it comes to the girl breaking out of her shell. She adores gourmet chocolates of all flavors.

Partner: Kaoru Color: Purple Likes: Ballet dancing, chocolates, winning Dislikes: Shut-ins, salty food, larger birds

Mido-Kaka

Akemi’s partner Tuner. Mido-Kaka is a shy one, always preferring to hide behind others rather than show herself in public. She sees Akemi as somewhat of a parental figure, and tends to rely on her a bit too much. Out of everything she’s seen on Earth, she’s become attached to plush toys.

Ao-Kaka // Burou Kuchi

A Tuner who guards the mirror to Vocaisle while disguised as a human. Ao-Kaka, or Burou Kuchi, works as a music teacher while on Earth, and though it’s mainly for a disguise, he genuinely enjoys the job. He’s a bit mysterious, though, always vanishing to one unknown place or another...

Partner: N/A Color: Blue Likes: His job, helping others, clear nights Dislikes: Nosy people, rowdy animals, cloudy nights

Ki-Kaka // Ayaka Kuchi

A Tuner who guards the mirror to Vocaisle while disguised as a human. Ki-Kaka, or Ayaka Kuchi, works as a clothing shop owner while on Earth, and is very passionate about her work. She mainly sells popular clothing brands, but will also take commissions to make outfits for customers.

Partner: N/A Color: Yellow Likes: Making clothing, jazz music, bright days Dislikes: Being interrupted, lemons, darkness

The Eternal Silencers

Choriaster

The leader of the Eternal Silencers. Choriaster acts very charismatic and open, but is quite harsh when angry, especially towards his underlings. He hardly ever acts himself, preferring to push all the hard work onto the rest. When backed into a corner, though, he’s still willing to fight back if he must.

Role: Leader Likes: His cloak, easy victories, lounging around Dislikes: Spicy food, failures, doing work

Anilius

The group’s strategic planner, as well as a Cordstone Corrupter. Anilius is experienced in the art of sweet talking and manipulation, and tends to spur possible victims towards more easily giving up their voices. Out of everyone else in the group, he seems oddly fixated on Ume.

Role: Strategic Planner // Cordstone Corrupter Likes: Black coffee, snakes, getting his way Dislikes: His coworkers, sweets, being denied something

Echino

One of the group’s main Cordstone Collectors and Corrupters. Echino is a rowdy guy through and through, though with how loud he is, why he’s with a group like this one is a mystery to everyone around him. Either way, his work ethic can’t be denied, as he does his job with all the energy he has.

Role: Cordstone Collector // Cordstone Corrupter Likes: Spiky things, leather jackets, exciting situations Dislikes: Being bored, snarky comments, candy

Atolla

One of the group’s main Cordstone Collectors and Corrupters. Atolla is quite vain and self-loving, and enjoys removing voices so that people can’t say no to her demands. Even though he won’t shut up, she likes ordering around Echino anyway. She’s never seen without her darling parasol.

Role: Cordstone Collector // Cordstone Corrupter Likes: Making demands, ice cream, her parasol Dislikes: Being told ‘no’, rowdy folk, waiting

Ryouta

The main Corrupter among the Eternal Silencers, though he isn’t really loyal to them beyond that. Ryouta has an incredibly negative outlook on the world, and on the mere concept of a voice, seeing them as nothing more but ways to hurt people. He never takes off his hood or his mask.

Role: Cordstone Corrupter Likes: Taunting his peers, silence, cool colors Dislikes: Bad memories, being ordered around, being alone

Ume

A more recent addition who mostly does things for other members of the group. Ume is incredibly anxious, and tends to shy away and hide whenever she’s not being addressed or doing something for someone. Atolla and Echino enjoy picking on her, while Anilius orders her around the most.

Role: Assistant // Occasional Cordstone Corrupter Likes: Being left alone, iced tea, piano music Dislikes: Singing(?), being touched suddenly, being weak

Other Characters

Jirou & Fuyuko Inoue

Kasumi’s parents. Jirou is the friendly mayor of Kurotsukawa, and Fuyuko is one of his biggest supporters. Together, the two work hard to preserve the good reputation and strong culture of their city...though they also do their best to spend as much time as they can with their beloved daughter.

Queen Carwyn & King Gareth

The rulers of Vocaisle. Queen Carwyn takes care of public matters and leads the protection and usage of the Cordstones, while Gareth helps with inside matters and acts as an emissary to other worlds. Both are very kindhearted people, and do their best for the sake of voices all over.

Sacha Aster

A foreign student from a far-off country. Sacha is popular among the students, both for his handsome appearance and his immense kindness and generosity. His biggest hobbies are dancing, playing the violin, and taking care of the various flower patches around the school.

Alexis Blanc

A foreign student who seems to have taken up the mantle of being Sacha’s guardian. Alexis never goes into detail as to how exactly they know him, but they’re obviously very close to him, considering how protective they are. One can often see them playing soft flute music for Sacha.

Noburu Chiyo

The owner of the theatre which the mirror to Vocaisle is located. The existence of the other world is something passed down through his family, so Noburu is well aware of what’s going on. He’s a kind, generous man, and does what he can to support the Pretty Cure in their mission.

Chihiro Chiyo

Noburu’s young nephew, who he took in after the poor boy’s mother - his sister - vanished without a trace. Despite the situation, he’s incredibly lively and excitable, which can be a bit of a downfall when it comes to keep the Pretty Cure thing a secret. Even so, he tries his best to do so.

Meet Atolla, the Algorithm-Based Skin Care Brand Bringing Customized Serums tohe Masses

After a successful pop-up in New York City last year, then quietly launching in beta testing earlier this year, Atolla is finally launching to consumers. The company will offer customized serums on a month-to-month subscription basis, allowing you to tweak your formula each month based on your skin's changes and progress, or lack thereof. Oh, and each bottle of serum (plus the testing to create it) only costs $45. How are the serums customized? The entire ethos of the brand, according to Ranella Hirsch, a Boston-based dermatologist and one of the company's three co-founders, is to remove both the guesswork and emotion out of skin care. "What's amazing about this is, because we're not theorizing or just going off of preferences, we're really creating what is exactly right for your skin today, and [also] realizing that your skin today is different than your skin in a month," Hirsh tells Allure. "Because we're using data, over time, the model is actually capable of being predictive, and what that means in English is that we can tweak your formula, based on the data we have." Atolla uses machine learning to address your skin care needs

Atolla, a skin care startup that got its roots at MIT, is launching a Kickstarter campaign to to help people achieve their skin goals. Atolla uses machine learning to identify skin health issues and then recommend the right skin care products based on what affects your skin.

Atolla comes as a monthly subscription, with the idea being that you test your skin every month to see how it changes depending on the season. The kit allows you to test for oil, moisture and pH. Every month, you receive a customized product based on the data extrapolated from your skin.

“So we’re thinking that if we do this measurement for people like just once a month, after about a year we can start to predict how their skin’s going to change,” Atolla co-founder Meghan Maulpin told TechCrunch. “It’s like, we know that your skin gets this percent dryer in the winter so before you actually have the issue of super dry skin, we already know that you need to use something that’s like this.”

Testing your skin takes just about 10 minutes (I tried it) and is pretty straightforward, thanks to on-screen directions from Atolla’s mobile app.

Atolla’s vision is to build a longitudinal dataset that looks at skin concerns across demographics, geographies and lifestyles. Atolla use two distinct machine learning models. The first is to create skin archetypes based on all the factors that may affect someone’s skin and the second is to predict how someone’s skin may change.

“What we’re really trying to build is a database that represents all different types of like skin attributes, and understand what the actual skin types are,” Maulpin told TechCrunch. “So it’s not just about like, number of data, it’s also diversity.”

Maulpin and her co-founder Sid Salvi met at MIT while in graduate school last year. Following acceptance into MIT’s Delta V accelerator for students, the two opened up a handful of pop-up shops in New York City. Fast forward to today, and Atolla is gearing up to start shipping to consumers in February.

The Port's Hole

A tavern, inn, and brothel all in one. The walls are very thick, the drinks are great, and the food is alright. They're are sections for different tastes but the rougher stuff is in the basement, which is commonly referred to as underdeck. Prices for rooms very depending on how nice you want it and if your sharing it with anyone. You can get everything from a relaxing night chatting to a night tailored to you kinks and wishes.

Innkeeper: Indigo, Penelope, Evelyn, Geet, Zian, and Qui Cinderbreaker(all orphans who were raised in Aurora Orphan Home)

The Grim Kraken

Located near the dock, it has three stories plus a basement used for storage. The top floor is off limits to guest as the innkeepers and their family live there. The bottom floor has a large tavern, a communal room with 12 beds(renting a bed and chest in the room is 5cp), and 6 small single rooms(8cp). The middle floor has 8 rooms with two single beds(2sp), 5 rooms with a double bed(5sp), and 3 rooms with two double beds(8sp).

Innkeeper: Sirus and Passion(Tiefling couple), with their kids Art(17 year old boy), Wit(14 year old girl), Naza(11 year old girl), Mavzer(5 year old boy), and Dexez(8 year old Leonin who was left on their door step as a baby).

The Sweet Roll - flavors of cinnamon and sugar blend with the strong scent of rum. The drinker gains an additional 1d4 to any pickpocket attempts for the next hour.(15gp)

The Chromatic - 5 different shots, one for each color of the different dragons. One is black and syrupy, one blue and gives a tingly feeling, one is on fire, one is green and tastes a bit minty, the last is white and frosts the closest things. They are mixed together and separate in the cup making a very nice presentation.(30gp)

Ginger Ale - Wait, this doesn’t taste like ginger at all... An ale that turns your hair ginger, effect lasts for 1d6 days.(10gp)

City of Atolla

The City of Atolla is a city-state located on the Eastern coast of Lothian.

Size: City with around 24,000 within the walls and surrounding farmland.

Attitude toward Travelers: Fairly welcoming.

Attitude toward Players: Neutral/a little nerves

Architectural Style: Tudor

Visual features and quirks: Lots of sea glass and pretty smooth stones, dirt roads despite being a city, a large cave system, massive coral reef nearby, and the ocean quickly gets super deep.

Prominent buildings: Council building, meeting house/city hall, 3 guildhalls, 1 large temple to multiple gods, 1 large temple to the god of the sea, a druid's grove in the nearby forest, and a public arena(with a strict no kill policy for fights)

Majority Race (or melting pot): Melting pot, but has a high concentration of draconic races(kolbolds, half dragons, dragonborns, and even dragons) and outer races(Tieflings, Aasimar, Genasi, ect.). Low number of humans.

Common language(s): Common, Aquan, and Draconic are most common. Abyssal, Celestial, Infernal, Sylvan, and the other elemental languages are fairly common.

Economy Major trade in the city? Yes.

Major exports: Elemental Crystal / Ore(water and lightning), fish, sea based gemstones, spices, local flora, and lumber.

Major imports: Adamantine, Furs, Inks, granite, dyes, incense, exotic meats, and supplies for farming, fishing, and mining.

Overall wealth: Fairly high

Taxation: Normally fair, but if the city is majorly damaged by a storm it can get kinda high until everything is fixed.

Leader(s): The Council of Atolla

Police/Guards and Crime: Decent amount of guards and they mainly deal with petty crimes(thieving and vandalism). But there are still murders and such on occasion. The biggest problem is the gnolls that attack the outlying farms.

Crime rate: Between Medium and Low

Can they be bribed? No really, it'd be a very hard thing to do.

How organized are they? How well-trained? How strict are they? Fairly well organized, pretty well trained, and semi strict.

Primary god(s): Mostly worship Abelus Saloninus but also worship The Phoenix Queen, The Raven Queen, Mask, and Pan.

Culture Unique traditions? Pray before ship travel. If a crew is going on a long voyage they hold a gathering at the harbor to set off the crew with food and well wishes.

Important holidays?

They participate in the Festival of Pan from the 1st- 7th of First Seed. The Day of Tricks on the 31st of Harvestmere. Festival of the Ancestors in Wintermarch form the 20th to th 22nd.

The only fully unique event is The Festival of Atolla during the last week of Highsun(aka the last 9 days, from the 22nd to the 30th) to celebrate their independence from the Cloud Empire.

Guardians of the Vaults

A major merchant's guild with plenty of members but few bases/guildhalls. It's main focus is to help new merchants set up and help one another grow through trade and tips.

Shiphaulers

Otherwise known as the sailor's guild, it is a decent sized group made up of those who spend much time on the seas.

Allies: Guardians of the Vaults

Rivals: Hallowed Berserkers

Hallowed Berserkers

A small mercenary guild with a guildhall outside of the city. They don't often allow new members and are thought to worship Eve but no one is sure. What is known, however, is that they have attacked many ships.

Allies: None known

Rivals: Shiphaulers and Memories of the Sea

Memories of the Sea

A group that worships Life and Death. They make sure the families of sailors are informed of the lost or disappearances at sea, as well as make sure those loses are honored and if possible makes sure the person is laid to rest.

Allies: Guardians of the Vaults, The Fallingstar guild, and Guardians of the Vaults(who frequently make donations to make burial possible)

The Lazy Bowl tavern and inn(located in the shopping district on the higher area)

The Grim Kraken(a tavern and inn right by the docks)

The Port's Hole(A tavern, inn, and brothel all in one, located on the far western side of the city)
