Speculations Over Prophecy

You Cannot Force Prophecy

The Bible exhorts us to watch and pray in anticipation of our Lord’s return. Part of watching is discerning the times and the seasons, which includes study of the end times. However, the end times should not become an obsession. It seems every time there’s conflict in the Middle East, new end time teachings immerge, to include a flood of quickly written books. To be clear, many are trying to present the best information possible. Nonetheless, it is easy to get ahead of ourselves, and miss important elements of Scripture.

Often events appear to be prophesy unfolding before our eyes, and on occasion some are actual fulfillments. 1948 is a great example, which is when Israel became a nation again, which was prophesied long ago. For centuries, there was no evidence it would ever happen; but it did! God’s Word is true. There is a lesson to be learned here: sometimes the lack of evidence is the evidence. The reverse is also true. What appears to be evidence is a distraction.

The short of it is we cannot force current events to be the fulfillment of prophecy. They can serve as types and shadows of things to come. That is not to say none are an actual fulfillment, nor will we ever see any come to pass. Not by a long shot. In fact, we could miss them when they do. We don’t want to be oblivious to the times and seasons in which we find ourselves. The so-called spiritual leaders during the days of Jesus’ earthly ministry, did not discern the time they were in.

Luke 12:54-56 And He said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time (see also Matthew 16:1-4)?

That being said, there is a danger of bending Scripture in order to fit one’s theory, or leaving passages out that might negate it -even with the best of intentions. Information bias is a thing. It is a type of cognitive bias in which one is so focused on a certain supposition that he overlooks information that might change his viewpoint. One may actually distort evidence he or she is evaluating.

2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

We need Holy Spirit to lead us in our search of scriptures, which may include whether or not He leads us to study end-time prophecy. He may lead us there, or He may lead us in other directions. His call!

Another consideration is God withheld information concerning the last days. Daniel and John serve as a couple examples. This alone makes it difficult to be conclusive.

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Revelation 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not (read verses 1-3 for fuller context).

Of course, God does get very specific about events, which includes many intricate details. When it comes to studying the end-times, or any other subject for that matter, we can cannot be haphazard in our endeavors. A few passages of Scripture, what so and so says, and throwing in some newspaper and magazine articles will not get it. Too many believers are going by hearsay, and not studying for themselves. It requires patience and diligence.

What Did Jesus Say?

To be clear, prophecy is unfolding before our eyes, but the question is on what should we be focusing? Especially, as it relates to the return of our Lord Jesus and end-time events?

Acts 1:6-8 When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His Own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

When the disciples asked Jesus about restoring Israel’s kingdom, essentially, He said that wasn’t their concern; rather, they were to focus on being empowered by the Holy Spirit, and becoming His witnesses. The resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment is part of the Doctrine of Christ (see Hebrews 6:1-3); however, Jesus emphasized making disciples. That’s part of being ready for His return.

Matthew 24:44-46 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

The Lord can come when we least expect it, and it may be that He won’t in our lifetime. Nonetheless, every day is someone’s last day on earth. None of us knows when we will be standing before Him, which is why it’s important to be faithful at all times. Likewise, until the appointed time, it is imperative to reach as many lost people as possible.

Only those who read Ezekiel chapter 37

This is what the prophet wrote 2700 years ago:

“The hand of the Lord was on me […]and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel, my people.”

“I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.

Word by word, the prophecy made by Ezekiel came true. In 1947 the nation of Israel was born after the horror of the Holocaust symbolized by the valley of bones. Scattered for more than 2000 years, the Jewish people came from all over the world into this new state and made it an economic and military power.

This is the first prophecy that has come true!

Yet in spite of all they have achieved, in spite of all the wars they fought against impossible odds, Israel was not whole.

It needed Jerusalem to become its rightful capital again.

And that only happened with the support of President Trump.

This was President Trump’s role in Bible prophecy and another major event that happened exactly as predicted.

However, to the north of Israel, other terrible biblical prophecies have come true!

PROPHETS ISAIAH AND JEREMIAH WRITE ABOUT THE SYRIAN CIVIL WAR

This is what the prophet Isaiah says:

Damascus will no longer be a city

but will become a heap of ruins. (Isaiah 17)

And these are the words of Jeremiah.

Damascus has become feeble,

she has turned to flee

and panic has gripped her;

anguish and pain have seized her,

Surely, her young men will fall in the streets; (Jeremiah 49)

For 5000 years Damascus, the capital of Syria stood as one of the oldest and most prosperous cities in the world.

But the civil war that began in 2011 turned it into a ruin.

Not only do the prophets talk about the war but also the refugee crisis and the deaths of its men fighting for one side or the other.

The army of Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad has been fighting the rebels backed by the United States, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and ISIS terrorists[ii]…

In 2015, Bashar al Assad was on the brink of total defeat, yet exactly at that time, another biblical prophecy was fulfilled.

It is this stage of the prophecy that so alarmed the Pope and made the war in Syria become truly global….

EZEKIEL 38 TELLS OF RUSSIA COMING TO THE BORDER OF ISRAEL

The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your army, Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets,6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah. In the latter years, you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel.

One only has to look at a map of the world as it was known at the time of the prophet to understand.

To the north of the Caspian Sea, we find the people known as Magog inhabiting the land known as Rosh.

Over time, the ancient name of Rosh became current day Russia.

Twice, Ezekiel says that Magog will bring his armies from "the extreme north" (Ezekiel 38:15; Ezekiel 39:2) to the border of Israel. When you look north of Israel on any map of the Middle East, and guess what nation you'll find? That's right - Russia.

Non-other than President Ronald Regan, a devout Christian, said many times that he truly believed Russia to be Magog according to Ezekiel.

What about the word Gog? Bible scholars agree that the word Gog is not an actual name but a title. He is the ruler of the land of Magog like a king or a czar.

Ezekiel clearly says that Russia will come to the “Mountains of Israel” in the “latter years”.

This happened in September 2015 and never before[iii].

For the first time in history, the Russian army, navy and air force became involved in a war in the Middle East.

This is the 3rd major event mentioned in the Bible.

It’s frightening how accurate the prophecy is.

And Russia is not alone…

EZEKIEL 38 WARNS OF THE CREATION OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY ALLIANCE

According to Ezekiel, Magog’s army has several allies: Persia, Put, Kush and Gomer and Togarma.

Iran has been known as Persia for much of its history, during the time of the prophets and beyond. It only changed its official name to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1935.

Right now, Iranian troops are on the ground in Syria fighting side by side with the Russians and the forces loyal to the regime of Bashar al Assad.

Put and Kush are the ancient names of Libya and Egypt.

Over the past 2 years, Russia and Iran have built alliances with other Middle Eastern Muslim nations. Egypt[iv] and Libya, both suffered civil wars and the new leadership is very friendly to the Russians.

BUT THE GREATEST SURPRISE IS THE LAND KNOWN TO EZEKIEL AS GOMER AND TOGARMAH.

The historian Flavius Josephus references Togarmah and Gomer as the people that lived on the territory of present-day Turkey. In fact, Turkish history books identify these tribes as living on their land at the time of the prophets.

It is just terrifying how accurate the prophecy is.

3 years ago, Turkey was a strong NATO ally but everything changed after the failed coup attempt in 2016.

Now, Turkey has become increasingly hostile to NATO and the United States.

It forced NATO to remove forces from its bases.

It’s buying weapons from Russia.[v]

It fully condemned the idea of Jerusalem becoming the capital of Israel…

And in fact, right now, the Turkish army is in Syria, fighting to defeat the enemies of the Syrian dictator.

The end times alliance prophesized in the first verses of Ezekiel chapter 38 has already been formed.[vi]

Never in the history of mankind has there been an alliance between Russia, Iran and Turkey…

This is the 4th major event the prophets wrote about!

The fact that we are seeing this right now is further proof that the end times are very near.

Now, one final prophecy needs to be fulfilled before the start of World War 3

ONE DEATH TRIGGERS WORLD WAR 3

We saw how Jeremiah predicted the destruction of Damascus in chapter 49

But there is one more thing he wrote about that has not happened yet:

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad. (Jeremiah 49:27)

Benhaddad is not an actual person but a title. Just do a simple search online and you will discover that Benhaddad is the ruler of Aram-Damascus.

While it is clear that Bashar al Assad is the current ruler of Damascus, Aram is a region in Syria now known as Aleppo.[vii]

The city of Aleppo was just recently recaptured by the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad with the help of Iran and Russia. This is shockingly accurate and the last event that happened exactly as foretold…

What happens next, however, is darker and will send shivers down the spine of every true Christian and patriot.

As you can imagine, Assad very rarely leaves the most secure place in Damascus, the Presidential Palace and Jeremiah says that soon it will be burning.

How does this happen? Look no further than the headlines of recent months and you see time and time again Israel calling for the assassination of the Syrian dictator.

Isaiah also writes about the end of Syria’s dictator.

The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim and royal power from Damascus;(Isaiah 17)

This is overwhelming prophetic evidence. We are months, maybe weeks away from this prophecy being fulfilled.

Already, the Israeli Air Force has bombed over and over again the territory or the Syrian regime.

WE ARE WATCHING BIBLICAL PROPHECY

UNFOLD BEFORE US:

Russia and its allies are fighting to keep Bashar al Assad in power and Israel wants him dead.

According to prophecy, the assassination of Assad will trigger a war between the Magog alliance and Israel. This is the spark that ignites World War 3.

Isaiah talks about the war in Northern Israel in Chapter 17, the same one announcing the destruction of Damascus and the death of Assad.

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Israel shall be made thin

It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain,

But the harvest will be a heap of ruins

In the day of grief and desperate sorrow”.

Ezekiel chapter 38 states that 2/3 of Israel will be destroyed in this coming war and those left in the holy lands will face grief and pain and hardship.

So what happens to the United States?

Will we not help Israel in its darkest hour?

The anime fandom for many fans, young and old alike, isn’t based necessarily on TV series and manga—its centered on the convention scene. Facebook and Twitter feeds relating to conventions are absolutely filled with griping about the cost of conventions—remember that besides the entrance fees, which can easily go over $100, attendees have to pay for food, parking, hotel, souvenirs, and their own cosplay. It adds up and leads many to skip out on events they dearly want to attend. You can encourage them and help defray the costs by looking ahead and buying tickets to an event. Also note that many conventions occur during the spring and summer, so there’s another advantage to making this your gift—at this time of year, you might be able to get an early bird discount as well.

9. Reading material

You don’t necessarily have to look to a TV or video game screen to find series for your anime fan to enjoy. Just as in the west, and even more so, anime films and shows are adapted from previous works, mostly divided into two categories: manga (Japanese comics) and light novels (serialized books that contain illustrations). And just as with anime, we’ve got you covered here, too, with plenty of recommendations for both accompanied by explanations about the content within. These make for great gifts because all of these series have at least several volumes in release in the English language, meaning that you can pick up several issues as a present. And here’s another insight: manga and light novels are often (usually?) more addicting than anime series. Chances are that if you buy several for your loved one, they won’t be able to put the tomes down until they finish!

Bad Cover - Good Book This book is a good case for not judging a book by its cover. At first glance it looks like some sensational rag by some conspiracy nut cases. Too bad, because this is an important and well researched book. It is one of the first I have read to examine in-depth the consequences of newest technology on humanity, especially transhumanism. Genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, called GRIN technologies in this book, are challenging our definition of what it is to be human. When does what was once human in God's image cease to even have a soul? GRIN can transform human beings into a transhuman creatures that resemble the Nephilim of the Bible, the progeny of fallen supernatural beings. Scary stuff, yet well researched and footnoted. Days of Noah This book helped me with Scripture interpretation and current news. The “Sons of God” in Genesis 6:2 have been a mystery to me. The Horns imply that they are two hundreds angels (based upon the Book on Enoch) that married the “daughters of men”. This merger created a “kind” that was outside the boundaries of God’s design causing the “wickedness to be great and every imagination of the thoughts of man’s heart only evil” (Gen. 6:5). The offspring of this merger is the problem with God being “grieved at his heart” and His choice to destroy man. Next, the Horns imply that the words of Jesus concerning His return to be like the “days of Noah” with “eating, drinking and marriage” (Matt. 24:37:38) are about current efforts by the governments of men to improve mankind by marrying technology, animals (mark of the beast), performance enhancing drugs and even spiritual beings. We need to know what's coming so that we can be better prepared to deal with it EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD READ THIS BOOK! Forbidden Gates This is probably the best book for Christians that are unaware where their tax dollars are being spent on. Never has there been such a concerted, global effort to bring about peace at any cost as there is today. 6) The Antichrist would use (false) peace to destroy many (Daniel 8:23-25). With all the problems facing mankind, multitudes are looking for a “savior” to usher in peace and prosperity without moral accountability. The Antichrist will promise the world and Israel such a peace if they follow him – but his intentions will be sinister. 7) In the last days Israel would have a peace treaty in place (for seven years) that the Antichrist will confirm and eventually break (Daniel 9:27). Currently the world‟s governments are striving for an Israeli peace treaty. The Eu made a provision for their chief military officer and gave him the responsibilty for making peace treaties that are for 7 year terms, then are reviewed and renewed each 7 years. 8) Damascus would be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1, 14; Jeremiah 49:23-27; Amos 1:3-5; Zechariah 9:1- 8). Damascus, Syria is increasingly in the news and is extremely anti-Semitic. Many terrorist organizations have their bases in Damascus. God declares that they will become a ruinous heap because they have violently taken what was not theirs. In 2007 Israel vowed to wipe Syria off the map if Syria attacked by chemical weapons. You will see this on the news shortly. 9) Chaotic weather would be prevalent (Luke 21:25-26). Jesus foresaw “the seas and the waves roaring” in the last days. He also likened these signs to birth pangs (Matthew 24:8). The Greek word odin, often translated as sorrows in Matthew 24:8, literally means birth pangs. Furthermore, the apostle Paul reminded us that the creation itself will be delivered from the curse at the end of the age (Romans 8:21). And that the “the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs” (Romans 8:22). As delivery draws near, birth pangs always increase in both intensity and frequency. Therefore, the creation itself would travail as the time of delivery draws near. Of course chaotic weather is not new, but there are indications that we are witnessing an increase in strange weather and earthquakes in unusual places. 10) There would be a move toward a global government (Daniel 2:40-44; 7:23; Revelation 13:7-8). The former Roman Empire – which encompassed present-day Europe – would revive and eventually dominate the world. The European Union has steadily moved forward in its attempt to unite Europe politically and economically. It has succeeded in creating a European parliament, a court, and a common currency. And globalization is not unique to Europe, it is happening everywhere.

Stage-setting for Prophetic Protest

In thinking on what is going on to Jerusalem’s north, with Israel’s primary enemy, Iran, coalescing with Russia and other nations, I was looking through some of the documents in my computer. I wanted to get some sense of developments in prophetic stage-setting regarding Ezekiel 38-39. I’m referring, of course, to the Gog-Magog assault predicted for “the latter days.”

I found some quotes by some prophecy observers, their names with which you will be familiar. Two of these well-known men are now with the Lord, and the third has probably one of the most-watched television programs at the present time.

Hal Lindsey is the man, of course, who has a weekly TV program. He continues to analyze and present matters involving prophetic stage-setting all these years later after writing the foundational book on current issues and events in light of Bible prophecy–The Late, Great, Planet Earth, published in 1970.

I found in my documents surprisingly up-to-date forewarnings of things to come. Some might even call Lindsey’s words prescient in their analysis. I must admit that I’ve not thought too highly of the briefing service known as DEBKA-Net-Weekly Briefing over the years. I’ve found the information this service dispenses prone to be hyperbolic, that is, greatly exaggerated in many instances. However, Hal Lindsey’s own intelligence briefing from some years ago shows the source as having value I missed.

Hal wrote:

For students of Bible prophecy, even the title of this communiqué should set off alarm sirens. I just received some electrifying intelligence data – first, from the DEBKA-Net-Weekly briefing, and second, from some personal intelligence sources (which I carefully guard) that confirm Debka’s report.

Russia, Iran and Syria have entered a defense pact that is in the process of altering the balance of power in the entire Middle East. Russia’s part in the pact has been kept relatively secret for a long time. But the facts reveal a long, steady Russian commitment to the Iranian nuclear program and arms supply to Syria. (“Russian-Syrian-Iranian Axis” by Hal Lindsey, September 2006, Personal Update News Journal)

That information, presented in 2006, has proven to be extremely accurate. We have watched this relationship between the key Gog-Magog players blossom into the next major diplomatic crisis.

President Trump has said that Iran will not develop a nuclear capability, and Iran has declared that it will destroy both Israel and America.

Russia’s government, under a

Gog-like

leader, Vladimir Putin, has declared it will consider an attack on Iran as a most serious violation of Russia’s own interests in the region. So, the tension builds.

Two prophetic factors, when brought into the mix of unfolding history, present interesting questions, some of which we’ve considered previously.

1) The Gog-Magog attack on Israel as given in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 indicates a most basic, conventional, not nuclear attack. Question: What happened to Iran’s nuclear program presently under development and so hotly contested?

2) The nations of the presently powerful Western alliance, according to the Ezekiel prophecy, do nothing to try to stop the Russian-Iranian and coalition partners attack against the small Jewish state when it occurs. Why is this so?

Certainly there appears to be no president of the unwavering mindset like that of Mr. Trump on the scene.

The other prophecy experts I mentioned had the following observations, as I discovered when delving into my computer documents.

Chuck Missler:

God apparently sends ‘fire’ down, not only upon Magog and his allies, but on some distant people living in the ‘isles’ or ‘coastlands.’ Who are they who dwell carelessly [securely} in the Isles? The word for isles could be an idiom for remote continents. Could this be an allusion to the United States? Is the ‘fire on Magog’-and these others-a result of a nuclear exchange? (2)

Grant R. Jeffrey:

When Russia is defeated by God’s miraculous power, the newly united European Union will emerge as the greatest economic, political, and military power on the planet. These pivotal events will set the stage for the rise of the new European super state

and the emergence of the new leader who will ultimately assume the role of the Antichrist, the final world dictator who will rule the planet during the last seven years leading to the climatic battle of Armageddon. (Duck, Daymond R., and Richards, Larry Ph.D, God’s Word for the Biblically-Inept Series, Starburst Publishers. 2000. p 89)

The possibilities exist, based upon the prophecy by Ezekiel, that nuclear “fire” will fall upon, perhaps, the nations of the western alliance, while the attack on Israel is taking place. The destruction of the Gog-Magog forces (all but one-sixth completely destroyed) would create a power vacuum for Antichrist.

My own thought is that the one who will be Antichrist will know and believe the Ezekiel prophecy. He will perhaps be content to watch these forces be destroyed, knowing that the world will be “easy pickins'” after the Russian threat is gone. But, we know that tidings out of the east will soon add to his worries (kings of the east).

It is all fascinating to consider as we watch these things shape in rapid fashion toward the climax of the age.

Now, we look at the latest addition to matters involving that future attack from the hordes to Israel’s north.

The prophecy is most interesting in light of the news item that follows it below.

Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” (Ezk. 38:13)

The head of NATO said the alliance would not aid Israel in the event of an attack by Iran, according to reports.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO’s secretary-general, told the German magazine Der Spiegel that because Israel is not a member of NATO, its “security guarantee” doesn’t apply to the country, according to the Associated Press.

NATO is also not involved in conflicts in the Middle East or peace efforts there, Stoltenberg added.(“NATO Chief: No Assistance for Israel if Iran Attacks,” by Melissa Quinn, Associated Press, June 02, 2018)

It looks as if the international community is already setting up for the mere diplomatic protest that will be issued when the much-hated Israel is assaulted.

But, the God of Heaven–and of Israel–will have the last word.

Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. (Ezekiel 39:1-4)

The prophet Amos said, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).

God reveals what He intends to do before He does it.

Some, like myself, believe the Tribulation Period is being set in motion, and few realize how serious this is prophetically.

Those that are not Raptured before the Tribulation will probably die during the Tribulation Period.

Notice these things:

The Tribulation Period will begin with a covenant with many (Dan. 9:27). Following 72 years of hostility toward Israel, several Arab nations are discussing the normalization of relations with Israel (much depends on a trip to the Middle East by Jared Kushner and others, but it got off to a good start on August 29, 2020, when the UAE ended its economic boycott with Israel and opened the door for tourism, trade and financial agreements with the Jewish state).

The Antichrist will rule over all nations during the Tribulation Period (Rev. 13:7), and a never-ending effort is underway to dump Trump and establish a socialist/communist world government that sounds a lot like the government of Antichrist (The UN goal is to have that government up and running by 2030).

The Antichrist will blaspheme God (Rev. 13:5-6). There was no mention of God at the recent Democrat convention that nominated Biden and Harris, which led several pundits to say, “The Democrats have a God problem” (some actually want to replace Christianity with the Global Ethic; World Religion).

The Antichrist will be assisted by a religious leader called the False Prophet (Rev. 13:11-18; 16:13), and a high-ranking Catholic leader recently expressed concern that Pope Francis could be the False Prophet (Francis is calling for a world government and a world religion, protecting gay priests, compromising on abortion and other traditional Roman Catholic beliefs, etc. If Pope Francis is the False Prophet, events have to move fast because of his age).

During the Tribulation Period, people won’t be allowed to buy or sell unless they take the Mark, the name of the Antichrist or the number of his name (Rev. 13:17). A long list of influential people are calling for everyone on earth to be vaccinated and marked in the coming months.

For years, some Bible prophecy teachers have taught that tracking all buying and selling requires a cashless society. The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced that it will hold its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2021 and its theme will be “The Great Reset,” which includes a plan to replace cash with a digital currency (and to redistribute your wealth; the cashless society is already shaping up all over the world at stores that do not have cashiers. Note: As I was preparing to send this article to the editor, I was told that the WEF has delayed its meeting until this summer, but I have not confirmed it).

Famine is a sign of the Second Coming (Matt. 24:7). It is being reported that the demand for food at food banks is up sharply (On Aug. 24, 2020, Pres. Trump increased the spending on certain food distribution programs by one billion dollars).

The Second Coming will be like the days of Noah (Matt. 24:37) when the wickedness of man was great (Gen. 6:5). People are rioting, looting, burning and injuring people, etc., in Democrat-run cities, and the Democrats in charge appear to be protecting them.

The Tribulation Period will be marked by hyper-inflation and an economic collapse (Rev. 6:5-6), and because of lockdowns due to the Coronavirus, the U.S. has borrowed trillions of dollars to stimulate the economy. The whole world is going broke, and some are saying if people don’t go back to work the global economy will collapse, and more.

Pestilence is a sign of the Second Coming (Matt. 24:7). It will be a worldwide pandemic (Rev. 6:7-8) that will cause multitudes to die, and the Coronavirus has been declared to be a worldwide pandemic that it is killing multitudes and will probably get worse.

Jesus was asked about the signs of His coming (Second Coming, not the Rapture) and He said, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree (Israel; Hos. 9:10); When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation (perhaps 70-80 years; Psa. 90:10) shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled” (Matt. 24:32-34).

More could be said, but anyone that knows very much about the Bible should be able to see the existence of Israel, the fact that Israel has been a nation 72 years, and the prophetic significance of the current global situation.

My granddad would probably have said, “Anyone with one eye and half sense can understand that the last days are shaping up just like the Bible says.”

Jesus told Daniel the wise will understand the Tribulation-Period events at the time of the end (Dan. 12:8-10).

Some global elites are planning to control people’s lives, incomes, religion, healthcare, education of their children, force people to live in smaller houses, force people to drive smaller cars, and control the kind and amount of heating and cooling people have, etc.

Some of this is part of the Green New Deal that Bernie Sanders and the Democrats are pushing in this current election.

I want to lovingly remind pastors and teachers that accepting God’s call to be a pastor or a teacher includes an awesome responsibility.

Pastors and teachers will be rewarded for faithfully preaching and teaching the whole Word of God, including the Second Coming (II Tim. 4:8; I Pet. 5:2-4), but pastors and teachers will receive a greater judgment if they ignore their responsibility (James 3:1).

We should not take these words of Jesus lightly, “O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but can ye not discern the signs of the times” (Matt. 16:3).

More recent current events are as follows:

One, natural disasters will increase in frequency and intensity (like birth pains) before the Second Coming. After Hurricane Laura tore through Louisiana and Texas with winds up to 150 mph, one survivor said, “It looks like 1,000 tornadoes” came through.

Two, on August 24, 2020, the president of the Barna research group said one in five churches could permanently close within the next 18 months because of the Coronavirus crisis. Church attendance and giving are down, and many pastors will lose their pulpits. My sympathy goes out to these churches and pastors.

But God’s Word cannot be silenced. The good news is that some of those pulpits were silent on prophetic matters, and large numbers of their members are tuning in on TV and the Internet to hear what some of the prophetic preachers of our day are saying. If a pastor does not want to preach the whole Word, God can close the pastor’s church and feed the members through another venue.

Three, on August 26, 2020, Amir Tsarfati reported a buildup of Russian naval vessels in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Syria. What this is all about remains to be seen.

Four, following the announcement that the UAE is ending its economic boycott of Israel, Rabbi Yehudah Glick, of Temple Mount fame, spoke out. It has been reported that he said, “A wave of peace agreements could be a harbinger of a period of peace more conducive to the construction of the Third Temple than the first several decades of modern Israel, which were characterized by wars.”

According to the Book of Daniel, there will be a peace treaty and the Temple will be rebuilt. However, the Antichrist will break that peace treaty at the middle of the Tribulation Period (Dan. 9:27). He will confirm that treaty, and people will declare peace and safety, but the Antichrist will go forth conquering and to conquer (Thess. 5:3; Rev. 6:1-2).

Rabbi Yehudah Glick made another interesting comment, “One of the most significant achievements in this agreement is that this will bring the Arab Muslim citizens of the UAE to the Temple Mount to pray.” They will not be allowed inside the Dome of the Rock to pray, but they can visit the Temple Mount and pray outside. Glick sees this as an opportunity for Jews, Muslims and Christians to pray together and, eventually, for the Temple Mount to become a place of prayer for all people (see Isa. 56:7). This will happen during the Millennium.

Finally, no one knows the day or the hour of our Lord’s return, but a growing number of the best Bible prophecy teachers believe one’s salvation is an urgent matter.

God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God, who died for the sins of the world and was buried and raised from the dead. Ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, and come into your heart and be your Saviour. Then tell someone that you have done this.
