Visão da louca Hollywood dos anos 20, dos tempos de fartura e excentricidades até as dificuldades com a chegada do som; isso tudo sob o ponto de vista de um grande astro tentando se manter no auge, de uma caipira buscando sua chance como atriz e de um ambicioso imigrante mexicano que atua nos bastidores. > Notável por: ser um filme do premiado Damien Chazelle, dos excelentes Whiplash e La la land, dentro do seu estilo com música e ação frenéticas, com a volta do tema do sonho hollywoodiano e com os astros Brad Pitt e Margot Robbie. > Chances de Oscar: prometia várias indicações, mas obteve somente três técnicas: Figurino, Trilha e Design de Produção. Talvez tenha chance em Melhor Trilha Sonora, que realmente é muito boa. > Meu comentário: O filme possui duas sequências na primeira parte que são espantosas: uma mega festa (talvez a mais extravagante que já vi no cinema) na casa de um produtor de Hollywood, com direito a orgias e um elefante; e uma sequência de um dia com várias filmagens ocorrendo ao mesmo tempo em um deserto californiano, na qual tudo, tudo acontece. Pena que o filme caia muito depois, tentando emular sem o mesmo sucesso outras fórmulas do diretor (como o epílogo de La la land), repetindo a já batida trama de outros filmes (como Cantando na Chuva e O Artista) e pecando nos exageros (como uma interminável visita ao submundo da cidade) e na duração.
