#Dracula posting
I think that adaptations who leave Quincey out or make him a horrible person (see 2020 Dracula) miss the point. He's not just a comic relief. he's the oathmaker. He swears to Lucy when she rejects him he'll always be her friend, and he follows through. He swears to Mina he'll not rest until SHE rests, and he follows through. He swears he will kill Dracula to Jonathan, and they shake hands, and he follows through. He gives Dracula one of the two fatal bows, and bleeds and dies, like he swore he would, for those he loves.
Wow, Anon. That was beautiful. You came to my inbox, absolutely destroyed me, and I'm thanking you for it. /pos
You're so right, though. He is the oathmaker, he follows through on his promises no matter what. Also, the Oathmaker is such a cool title is that a thing I missed?? Can that be what we call him forever now if we don't already??
But here I am, doing the exact same thing as the producers/directors, writing him off as comic relief (I did a little more than that, but still)!! I am truly sorry to Quincey, he is not just that and he never was. So thank you, Anon, for reminding me again why I love him so much. Perhaps one day, there will be an adaptation where he's actually appreciated.
As a side note, they made him a horrible person in 2020 Dracula?! Ugh, I started watching it and could not get through it after they killed Jonathan off -- I didn't care if they resurrected him or what, I was done. I just couldn't keep watching Now I don't want to do it even more if they ruined Quincey too!!!! BBC stop trying to be edgy with classic literature challenge (impossible). What are they going to do next? Make a Jane Eyre series where Jane's the wife in the attic the whole time? I shouldn't even write that cause they'll probably think "wow, that's a great idea!" :/

I actually love Re: Dracula, because like,, it’s just so darn accessible???
Aside from the genuine care and time that the creators put into it, and the details and awesome sound effects, and it brings life to the novel in an awesome way.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Dracula Daily, but I just don’t have the time at the moment to sit down and read it, where as with Re: Dracula, I can do my work and listen to it, I can play it as background noise to sleep too, I can do art with it. It’s easy for me to get to as well, so I can quickly get it on whiteout wasting too much time.
And did I mention the effort the team working on it puts in to it??

Dracula Daily (again) day 1 thoughts:
Was that Dracula howling under Jonathan's window even from day one? Was it not even the paprika that gave him queer dreams...

So after someone found the original recipe for the paprika dish that blew Jonathan Harker’s bb lawyer mind, I thought “That sounds like an experience I should totally emulate” and attempted to make it because I too wish to have paprika rock my tiny world

NGL, it came out pretty good! I did modify it a little in terms of proportions (half a cup of tomato juice is…not enough), but overall kept to the recipe. 10/10 would send back to my awesome wife Mina
I will report back any queer dreams I experience, and will also reach out if I am locked in a castle
pls do not judge my awful plating

You would think that as "guy who runs the gay vampire blog" Astarion would be my favorite character in bg3 . It's not it's actually Karlach and I would sell that gay white twink assstarion to Satan for one cornchip and the fraction of a chance of a future of Larian adding more Wyll content

I was going to photoshop a scene of Dracula skittering his way down the castle wall but then I discovered this image which served as the cover of the 1901 abridged paperback edition of the novel and which is better than anything I could ever cobble together.
I especially enjoy that my good friend Jonathan Harker’s expression is less ‘dread and fear of this terrible creature’ and more ‘ugh, dude what the hell’. Maybe he’s looking at those gnarly feet and calves. (Love Dracula’s apparent casual goth bat wing top and cropped leggings, too. My man Drac is going out in style.)

also?? It's astounding that Quincy is completely erased in the pop culture Dracula. How did you all manage to keep this such a secret?? He's the only important character (besides Lucy and, I guess, Dracula) who dies and you all managed to keep it a secret until the very last day???? Impressive

Yes, Curse of Strahd is a better adaptation of Dracula than many adaptations of Dracula, because:
Strahd is a gaslighting manipulative bastard, just like Dracula.
His lead female target wants nothing to do with him, just like Dracula.
He's defeated by your party of random DnD misfits who stumbled into his plans, just like Dracula.
Your party probably includes dragonborns and tieflings and kenku, but Dracula has an English lordling, a depressed asylum doctor, a Texan cowboy with a Bowie knife, an eccentric Dutch professor who talks like absolutely no Dutchman ever, a brilliant schoolmistress and her husband, the world's most justifiably pissed off solicitor, now with Kukri, all gunning for his head.
Somewhere in Barovia, Strahd is kinda relieved.
