Hubris Bracket Side A Poll 11: Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche (The Evillious Chronicles) vs Fei Wong Reed (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda below!
Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche
Tumblr media
So in evillious there are people known as the seven sinners because they were possessed by demons of sin (there were other people that were posessed too but the sinners are the ones who made the biggest impact on the world) and riliane is literally the sinner of pride!! She was a princess who got posessed by a the demon of pride and that made her all tyrannical, executing people for no reason, letting commoners starve, classic evil princess shit, and she committed genocide on a country because her ex-fiance fell in love with a girl from that country. BUT then the people started a revolution where they wanted to execute her, but her servant Allen who was very very devoted to her (and who was actually her twin brother but she lost memories of that because of a different demon) and allen puts on her clothes and pretends to be her and gets executed, she has to watch him die then runs away into the woods and almost dies, but then gets saved by a nun (that was actually the lesbian crush of the girl whose country she genocided) and was taken into the monastery, at first she was all pathetic and snobby and didnt want to do "commoner" work but eventually she came around but her main Thing is the part where she gets knocked from her throne and becomes a sad wet kitten okay. Also she was 14 and ruled the country bc her parents died
She is Literally the embodiment of Pride. She is fourteen years old. She ordered a genocided. She has a favourite horse named Josephine. She regularly has people beheaded via guillotine. She became a nun wishing for everyone to know peace later in life. She HAS the range and also she has bee the princess of my heart since like 2015 ♡
(this next one isn't in bullet form bc it's long)
Riliane was an exceptionally terrible tyrant, who only ruled her kingdom for 1 year before being overthrown. She would tax the people, who already had very little food, so that she could buy exorbitant things to show off to her guests and her fiancée. She would execute people over the tiniest of issues, such as not letting her win a game. She waged a war on another kingdom because her fiancée (who was forced into the marriage by his abusive mother) broke off the engagement to pursue a peasant woman. Not knowing the woman's identity, she simply commanded her army to track down and kill every woman who shared the same traits, known as the "Green Hunt".
If all of this sounds incredibly petty and childish, that is because Riliane ascended to the throne when she was 14. She is literally a child. History books say that she was executed in the square at three o'clock, just before her 15th birthday… but the truth is a bit more complicated. She had a younger twin brother, but a succession crisis and plot to undermine the royal family ended up with her getting amnesia and him having to fake his death for his own safety. This happened when they were only 6. He eventually came back to the palace as a servant named "Allen Avadonia", but Riliane had already been possessed by the Demon of Pride. The only people who knew Allen's true identity was Allen, their late mother, his adoptive father, and the two other confidants that their parents had. Riliane just saw Allen's resemblance to her as a fun piece of trivia.
Despite this, Allen did his best to make her happy, even to his own detriment. And it seemed that, even though she was possessed, she did come to care about him as well, because she only stopped the war because he said he would leave the palace if she didn't. When the revolutionaries were coming to capture and execute the princess, Allen asked if they could switch clothes, and then told her to flee while he stayed behind.
Even if she couldn't remember him, they were still twins, so he could probably fool the rebels. Riliane, to her credit, was absolutely horrified by this and protested, even telling him that this was all her fault and she should face punishment for it. Allen, however, didn't give Riliane a choice in the matter. He pushed her into a hidden passageway and locked the door behind him, while he faced the revolutionaries alone. Riliane has not lost everything, even her own identity because the princess was supposed to have been executed. On the brink of starvation, however, she is found by a nun, and taken in. Riliane is still somewhat selfish and bratty, pushing everyone else away, except for the nun who saved her, Clarith. Eventually, Clarith's kindness even manages to make Riliane try being more respectful and help out with the chores at the orphanage.
Clarith understands what it's like to be so alone, as it is something she struggled with her entire life until she made her first friend. And then her friend was killed in the Green Hunt. One night, Riliane goes to the confession box, and admits all of her evil deeds from her time on the throne, then goes out to watch the sea and mourn her brother. And, by complete coincidence, Clarith overheard everything. Knife in hand, Clarith looms closer and closer to Riliane. This is the tyrant who took her dearest friend and razed her village to the ground.
Everyone is dead and gone because of her. Killing her would be justice. Right? But she's a child and she's so lonely. She's just standing there, in the seawater. She knows Clarith is behind her. She knows that Clarith is intending to kill her, and she accepts it. She knows she deserves it for what she's done. But Clarith spares her life, takes pity on her. And furthermore, Clarith helps her adjust to this new life, and the former tyrant resolves to try and become a better person, to honor the sacrifice her brother made. She knows she can never apologize or be forgiven for what she has done.
But that doesn't mean she shouldn't at least try. She spends the rest of her life at the orphanage, raising the children there with love. (This is the propaganda) TLDR: Teenage tyrant loses everything; her kingdom, riches, last remaining family member, even her own identity, and is forced to live the rest of her life with the knowledge and guilt that she has no one to blame for her misfortune but herself. In the end, she is given pity by a person she has hurt directly and tries to honor her brother's sacrifice by being a better person, living humbly and being a loving parent to the orphans at the orphanage. She'd learn nothing if she was simply executed, after all.
Fei Wong Reed
Tumblr media
Fei Wong Reed sought to conquer death where the superior magician (Clow Reed, who created Fei Wong by unspecified magical means) failed; he didn't do this because he particularly cared about any dead person, but because he wanted to prove he was better than Clow. he orchestrated a whole plan involving time loops, clones, memories scattered across worlds/dimensions, and pawns arranged for when they were children, but he still failed in the end. he arranged for a group of four people (and their sapient little magical creature) to travel between worlds, unknowingly fulfilling Fei Wong's ends; this group was made up of two clones created by him (one of whom had her memories scattered across worlds by Fei Wong so that he could use her for her powerful magic once the group had gotten all the memories back), a strong fighter who wouldn't have ended up on this journey if Fei Wong hadn't killed his mother when he was a child, and a powerful magician whose secret convoluted backstory meant that he was supposed to betray the rest of the group to Fei Wong (spoilers: when it comes down to it he decides to help the rest of his group instead because they are Found Family). in the end, the group (along with the escaped boy one of the clones was created from (who escaped because one of Fei Wong's other creations let him go)) stops him, and he winds up dead at the hands of the fighter. TLDR: Fei Wong Reed wanted to do an impossible thing just to prove he was better than his creator, he set up an intricate web that brought a specific group of people together to help achieve this task without (most of) their knowledge, and he was then killed by this group of people.

My entry for this year's KuroFai Olympics. The prompt was "The Hanged Man", twelfth Major Arcana of the Tarot Deck. The abridged version is that "The Hanged Man" can mean sacrifice, passivity/withholding action, the inability to help oneself through independent action, acceptance... The Wikipedia also mentions that there's a relation to treason because traitors used to be hanged that way, upside down. All of this screamed "Fai" to me.
Fai is a deeply fascinating character because he's not a typical... anything. A hero, a villain, a victim, a badass mofo... he's all of that and none of it. So I wanted to reflect all of this in an ambiguous representation of the card. That means that the upright position of the card is actually the reverse one because you never know what's going on with Fai. So he could be hanging from the roots of the tree or hanging from the branches. The truth is that his vampire pose is a farce, it's just the strings of the pupeteer pulling him down towards the ground where Fei Wong Reed's hands are hidden. All of this while Ginryuu (symbolizing Kurogane), with the help of the cherry flowers (symbolizing Sakura) are holding to him for dear life and keeping him close to the branches of the tree, the safe part. I wanted to also include Syaoran as a wolf hidden in the tree.
Tumblr media
Here's the reversed version which is actually the regular upright one. And, well, if only because it's taken me ages to do this and I still haven't been able to convey the shine of the metallic inks (that's tragic, but it's very hard to take good pics of that because the angle needs to be too steep for the image to still be in focus in its entirety and then one has to correct the perspective and it's hell). Other technical difficulties include the size being too small not to blotch the details with the ink and pastels. I swear Fai's hair was fluffy and Ginryuu had a face in pencil, but even with my finest brush I couldn't keep that because metallic inks are thick. I include a couple of close-ups just because I spent unnumbered hours with the stupid cherry tree and I want my efforts to be appreciated, dammit.
Tumblr media
Infinity aesthetics are the best.
Tumblr media
Dragons are rather flexible in this universe.

And that's it. Hope you like it!

I pity Clow Reed.
His tragedy is one based on love that fucks me up.
Now before you call me out with "he fucked so much stuff up" "mans was the walking definition of a 'problem'" yes. I know- but that is exactly why I pity him and the cluster fuck he caused.
(This is way longer then I meant for it to be so it gets to go under a cut. I am completely NORMAL about this I swear.)
We get bits and pieces of who Clow was from Cardcaptor, Tsubasa, XXXHolic from an outsider view. He was weird, eccentric and powerful. Yet, when you put all of the view's together, you get this picture that I still have so many feelings with to this day.
Clow fucked up. He know he fucked up with his single thought that stopped Yuuko's time from continuing. Where she was supposed to die, and she didn't. She was stuck outside time by something he did on accident because for a split second he couldn't bear the thought to lose her. That was the moment the whole cycle started, and where he resented being as powerful as he was.
This one choice was something far worse then he could ever dream. (I will continue to pray to usagi to give me a manga, even a one shot I'm not picky, of Clow and Yuuko.)
Now, we know one thing. I will not back down from this, but Clow loved Yuuko. In what way can be interpreted however you want, family, friend, lover sort of love- but he loved her.(I can also ague Clow has a TYPE, but I digress.)He loved her so much that he lost control over his magic to try to stay with her. Which we see a theme in clamps works with the more power you have the more you have to be careful. With great power comes great responsibility.
After we see the loss of control, we don't know what happens next. Except at some point they never see each other again. What we do know is at some point Clow had Momo, but it seemed he wasn't able to use her for what he needed. What would he need her for? To try and fix his mistake with freezing Yuuko's time? Hmmmm. Well- Clamp??? Alas we'll never know, but the crumbs for us to think are there.
After that the timeline gets a little wonky, Clow makes Kero and Yue. He splits himself in 2. Makes his way to the country of Clow to fill the spot his not self is no longer in due to Fei Wong's fucking around. Then we've got nothing, no idea what actually happens to him in the clone time line, just poof. He dead and Toya is king.
The we hop back over to Eriol and he makes Suppie and Ruby moon. Which wouldn't make you suspicious, lonely dude made some friends- except butterflies. Who's mark are butterflies. Yuuko's are. There out in the open, a subtle gesture until remembering how much he loves his creations. Even if he is no longer "Clow" there is still a piece of him in there loving Yuuko.
IT MAKES ME SO EMOTIONAL.
Clow Reed is a tragedy who is consumed by love and his hubris brought him to his knee's in the most human way possible.
~~
Quick side note, I wonder if the stray thought ever crossed Yuuko's mind looking at Watanuki that... if in another life she and Clow could have had a child. Would that child look as Watanuki does and is this what she couldn't have with him, because she already knows her story has ended. I like'd to to think the person she was talking to when she left was Clow.

Title: it's warm and real and bright
Pairing: Kurogane/Fai
Rating: T
Word Count: 2.3k
Summary: Post-Canon AU where Kurogane & Fai settle down in Nihon Country after the final battle with Fei-Wong Reed. Fai & Kurogane have been working on resettling Suwa for nearly a year when Fai comes to some sudden realizations. Resettled Suwa AU. [Written for KuroFai Olympics 2022, Team Blessed, Prompt: I See the Light]
[Read on Ao3]
Kurogane presses a hand into the small of his back and Fai stops, hands stilling almost instantly in the air in front of him. The glowing runes encircling his fingers flicker with barely-kept magic as Fai turns his head to look at him, only to be met with a weary and disapproving glare.
“You’ve tweaked it enough for the night,” Kurogane says, in a tone that implies less of a suggestion, more of a command.
Fai sighs and flexes his fingers, the violet runes dissipating from the air in front of him as he seals off the last of the spell.
He would typically brush Kurogane off and send him on his way because Kurogane, in reality, knew close to nothing about constructing and maintaining active magical barriers, but this time, he thinks perhaps Kurogane might be right.
Fai closes his eyes for a moment and rubs a hand over his face. He’s exhausted - has been exhausted for days now. He’s been adjusting the runework on the barrier surrounding Suwa nearly every day since they’d first set foot back in the realm all those months ago. What had started out as a simple and easily-maintainable barrier surrounding their camp while Kurogane and a few of his men began the process of rebuilding had now blossomed into a complex set of runework that bartered protection for what had quickly become a small village.
It’s only when Fai notices that Kurogane is still standing behind him that he cracks his eyes open once more and turns to face him fully.
“I’ll be done in a little while,” Fai assures.
“You’ll be done now,” Kurogane says, and Fai quirks an eyebrow at him.
“Is that an order, my lord ?” He grins when Kurogane scowls at him, and does not protest as Kurogane pushes insistently at his back, leading him toward the hallway where both of their chambers were located.
He stops just before the threshold to Fai’s rooms, his hand still warm against Fai’s back and Fai can practically see him mulling over something in his head as they both stand there silent in the hall.
Kurogane’s jaw tightens, closing his eyes for a brief moment and huffs out a breath, slowly retracting his hand from Fai’s person.
He almost seems reluctant to leave me alone, Fai thinks, quickly running through the possibility that Kurogane might be privy to a threat to the realm that he isn’t letting on, but he halts that train of thought almost immediately as Kurogane moves closer once more. Fai nearly stops breathing as Kurogane sets a gentle hand on his shoulder and pulls him close, resting their foreheads against one another for a long moment.
“Go to sleep,” Kurogane says, and then he turns and vanishes into the shadowed darkness of the hallway.
----
Kurogane is already gone when Fai wakes in the morning, as he often is, so Fai sets about brewing himself a cup of morning tea before he gets to work on checking and updating the barrier. The seasons are beginning to change outside and Fai is distinctly excited to see what autumn will be like here. The morning air is cool and crisp - a stark contrast to the absolutely sweltering summer he’s had to endure in the last few months.
When his tea is finished brewing, he takes a few moments to stand outside on the porch and bask in the morning sun, reveling in the pleasant breeze and the lingering scent of fresh cut cedar. Perhaps it would be a good morning to take a walk around the grounds and make sure all of his rune stones were still intact.
He finishes his tea and checks on the runework he’d sealed off last night, tweaking it just a bit more before heading off to his chambers to change for the day. On his way out of the house, while he picks up his logbook, his eye catches on the small bowl of peaches on the kitchen table and he gets an idea. Not five minutes later and he’s out the door, logbook and a small linen-wrapped lunch for Kurogane tucked under his arm.
----
Leaves crunch under his feet as he approaches the worksite Kurogane said he’d be helping with today. The trees surrounding the small village have started to turn a beautiful shade of auburn and Fai can’t help but feel warm, even in the early chill of fall, as he catches sight of Kurogane standing in the shade of one of them - that well-known scowl present on his face as he surveys the parchment in his hands.
His brow is furrowed, his lips set in a tight line - he looks stressed, Fai thinks, something’s clearly not going according to plan .
“Lunchtime,” Fai calls as he gets close, in the hopes of cheering him up at least a little bit.
“Later,” Kurogane bristles, not even deigning to look up at him.
“Now,” Fai says, draping himself over Kurogane’s shoulders and dangling the lunch he’s prepared for him in front of his face to obstruct his view of the parchment, “You deserve a break, Kuro-sama.”
Kurogane turns in his arms to face him and Fai shoots him a mischievous grin. He moves to disentangle himself from Kurogane, only to be stopped by a firm hand settling itself on his hip, keeping him in place. And he’s suddenly very distinctly aware of how close Kurogane is to him.
Fai flushes, his cheeks growing hot as Kurogane looks at him, a small smile curving on Kurogane’s lips as he leans down, warm breath ghosting over Fai’s ear.
“Is that an order, my prince ?” Kurogane says, just barely loud enough for him to hear, and Fai nearly stops breathing. He pulls back abruptly, a nervous chuckle slipping out of him as he smiles back. Kurogane just gives him a long look, still smiling softly as he takes the bag from Fai’s hands.
He leaves not long after and tries not to notice how Kurogane’s men bow their heads to him as he leaves, almost as if he were also their lord. Fai tries desperately to focus on inspecting the barrier runes for the rest of the afternoon, but instead his thoughts keep circling back to Kurogane - the warmth of his hands, the light in his smile, the rough timbre of his voice. And he does not get much work done for the rest of the morning.
--
Fai hurries back to the house in the early afternoon, tossing his logbook aside as he enters the house, and rushes into the sitting room. Quickly, he settles himself down on the pillow in front of his large oval mirror, swiping his hand along the frame and focusing his magic into his fingertips. It takes a few moments for the mirror-glass to light, warbling indistinctly until his magic finds a familiar connection reaching out to him and latches on.
Sakura’s face lights up in the mirror and she gives him an enthusiastic wave. Fai lets out a long breath and waves back, grinning as he settles back into his pillows.
“Fai! It’s so nice to see you again! I’ve missed you!” Sakura says, her voice only slightly distorted by their tenuous connection across dimensions.
“I’ve missed you too,” Fai chuckles, and they spend a little while catching up.
“How’s Kurogane been?” Sakura asks, and Fai catches a mischievous glint in her eye - which he chooses to ignore for the time being.
“He’s been busy - it seems like more and more people just keep coming every day,” Fai says, absently glancing over at the runestones he’s left unfinished on the table and wondering if he’ll have enough time to finish them tonight and very much not thinking about Kurogane’s hand on his hip, “He’s been handling it well.”
Sakura gives him a look, like she knows he’s not telling her everything and he just smiles at her placatingly.
“Has Syaoran visited as of late?” He asks, trying to change the subject.
Sakura smiles wistfully and Fai notices her worrying the hem of her tunic between her fingers.
“He was able to stay for a day last week, but -” Sakura looks away, a small frown flitting across her face. Fai’s hands instinctively move to reach out to comfort her, as he would have back when they were all together, but he stills them and presses his nails into his palm.
Sakura does not continue and Fai waits a long moment before unfurling his hands and smoothing them along the hem of his tunic.
“It’s difficult to be apart from someone you love so dearly,” Fai says, and Sakura looks at him, a sad smile turning up the corners of her lips as her eyes start to water. She nods and closes her eyes, placing one hand over her heart as she takes a deep breath. Fai allows her her silence, patiently waiting for her to compose herself.
“I suppose that’s why you chose to stay in Nihon,” Sakura says, her voice still a bit rough.
Fai looks at her, jaw dropping open just the slightest bit. He recovers quickly, laughing.
“I stayed in Nihon because Kuro-rin didn’t know the first thing about barrier magic and he needed help,” Fai waves a dismissive hand and continues on, “How have your lessons been going, by the way? Has that high mage of yours been treating you well?”
Sakura arches a brow at him, but lets the topic drop.
 ----
Fai ends the call with Sakura with a promise that they’ll talk again soon. Sakura just gives him a knowing smile and waves as he moves his hand over the mirror, the image of her dissipating into the air like smoke. He sits with himself for a few moments, his hands balled up in his lap and his eyes closed, listening to the far-off sounds of the village he and Kurogane had built together. Part of their conversation still sticks with him though.
I chose to stay in Nihon because Kurogane needs my help.
I chose to stay in Nihon because Kurogane asked me to.
Fai’s eyes slowly open and he stares at his hands as his heart makes a concerted effort to beat itself out of his chest. Kurogane hadn’t asked him to stay, had he? Now that he thinks about it, Fai can’t quite remember a moment in which Kurogane had asked him to stay.
The three of them - Syaoran, Kurogane, and himself - had landed in Nihon, they’d spent time at the palace together, they’d talked about Syaoran’s plans for his future travels, they’d talked about Kurogane’s plans now that he’d been able to return home for good, and when it came time for Syaoran to move on, Fai had just…stayed. It hadn’t been until after Syaoran left that Tomoyo had even brought up the concept of resettling Suwa.
I chose to stay in Nihon because Celes no longer exists.
Fai gently places his palm over his heart and takes in a deep breath. His gaze flits to the room around him, all of the little markings of home that surround him, from his favorite mug sitting next to Kurogane’s on the kitchen table to the practice sword lying haphazardly half-sheathed in the corner, right next to his own set of neatly stacked notebooks.
I chose to stay in Nihon because…
In the distance, Fai catches the distinct sound of Kurogane’s footsteps on the path leading up to the house. He pauses, his mind going blank as he listens to the front door slide open and shut, listens to the soft shuffle of Kurogane taking off his shoes at the door, listens to him move about their home in the easy quiet of this late afternoon.
Kurogane steps into the kitchen, framed by the warm light of the setting sun behind him in a way that makes his skin shimmer like gold. His sleeveless tunic is covered with patches of mud and wayward leaves and Fai’s breath catches in his throat.
Oh.
Kurogane raises an eyebrow at him as he moves further into the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water and leaning against the kitchen counter.
I chose to stay in Nihon because of him .
“What’s up with you?” Kurogane grunts, rifling through their cupboards, “Did something happen while I was--”
Fai cuts him off by nearly slamming into him, his hands bracing themselves on the counter on either side of Kurogane’s body. Kurogane turns abruptly, a look of confused concern on his face. Fai takes that as his opportunity to quickly take Kurogane’s face in both of his hands and pull him down into a rough kiss. It takes only a brief second for Kurogane to match him, meeting him with a fervor all his own.
Fai smiles against Kurogane’s lips, and it almost feels like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders as he pulls back, resting his forehead softly against Kurogane’s. There are unshed tears in his eyes, threatening to fall as he gently takes Kurogane’s hand in his own and entwines their fingers for the first time. Fai knows he’s being dramatic, but he can’t quite bring himself to care.
“I lov-” Fai starts, but his voice catches in his throat. He huffs, pulling away just slightly so he can look Kurogane in the eye, only to be met with the warmest smile Fai thinks he’s ever seen on Kurogane’s face. Kurogane’s fingers tighten over his own and he pulls Fai back, closer, until he can press his lips against Fai’s hair.
“I know,” Kurogane says, low and quiet, as if it’s a secret that only the two of them share, and he kisses him again.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Explained(Source Writer: Evilgidgit)
Oh, boy, I’m tackling a tough one. Kingdom Hearts was tricky enough, but this is another whole kettle of fish. I’m not saying Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is a bad story, manga or anime; it is a very good one, but trying to understand the story in its entirety is a challenge. The manga was written by the team of CLAMP, best known for writing after popular manga like Cardcaptor Sakura, Magical Knights Rayearth, and Chobits. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is a big crossover of all of their notable works, and features world jumping with some new incarnations of familiar faces – so it actually is a lot like Kingdom Hearts narrative-wise. Let’s see if I can explain the plot as simply as possible. In Clow Country, Princess Sakura (based on the heroine from Cardcaptor Sakura) likes to hang out with her best friend Syaoran (also from CCS), an archaeologist who is investigating ancient ruins nearby. Sakura lives with her big brother King Toya and the kingdom’s high priest Yukito (both from CCS), her father Clow Reed (a prominent figure in the CCS universe and this one) being dead. Sakura loves Syaoran and intends on confessing to him. However, things go weird when Sakura is drawn to the ruins and her soul materialises as a pair of wings. Syaoran saves her but the wings explode into feathers and scatter across the multiverse of CLAMP’s works. Syaoran is sent to modern day Japan by Yukito, where he meets Yuuko the Witch of Dimensions, a main character of xxxHolic. Yuuko can grant wishes at a certain price of equal value – think equivalent exchange from Fullmetal Alchemist. At the same time of Syaoran and the comatose Sakura’s arrival, Yuuko is visited by the story’s other main characters – Kurogane, a grumpy swordsman who wants to return to his home, another version of Japan called Nihon, after being banished by Princess Tomoyo (another CCS character) to learn what true strength is; and Fai D. Flowright, a cheerful magician who fled from his world to avoid the king Ashura since they have a history together. Yuuko explains that Sakura’s feathers contain her memories and scattered to different worlds and alternate dimensions. Since all three have goals involving world hopping, Yuuko sends them all off together at a price – Kurogane gives up his precious sword, Fai surrenders a magic tattoo that suppresses his immense power, and Syaoran gives up the memories Sakura and he have. Yuuko gives the trio Mokona Modoki, a talking white rabbit creature that can cross dimensions and sense Sakura’s feathers. Mokona also has a twin that stays with Yuuko and used to communicate with her. Sakura begins to regain her memories as the group travel from world to world to find her feathers, which have caused significant changes in several dimensions. Eventually, the story’s first major plot twist occurs. The group go to post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo which is being slowly destroyed by acid rain, with the only drinkable water available at the bottom of the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, protected by one of Sakura’s feathers. The plot twist comes – a second Syaoran appears and it is revealed the one we’ve been following so far is actually a clone. The original Syaoran was captured long ago by the story’s antagonist Fei Wong Reed, also responsible for Sakura’s feather scattering and events related to Kurogane (killing his mum) and Fai (see below). Clone Syaoran was made with half of the original’s heart, and it was only a matter of time before the original Syaoran broke lose. Clone Syaoran loses his heart and becomes an emotionless puppet obedient to Fei Wong, abandoning the group to find the remaining feathers. Beforehand, he rips out one of Fai’s eyes which are the source of his magic, letting him use magic. Fai starts wearing a snappy eyepatch. The real Syaoran’s backstory is revealed – he comes from the universe of Magical Knights Rayearth and crossed dimensions to save Sakura from being captured by Fei Wong. The price to cross worlds was paid by his parents, assisted by Sakura Kinomoto (protagonist of Cardcaptor Sakura), who gave her magic wand to Yuuko as payment. Syaoran’s plan failed and he was captured, though this later turns out to be false. Fai was aware that Syaoran was a clone all along. Fai is severely wounded by the loss of his eye, and has to be turned into a vampire, a process aided by two vampire brothers named Subaru and Kamui, and must drink Kurogane’s blood to live. Sakura wishes to save the Clone Syaoran, loving him, with her friends accompanying her. The travellers eventually end up in Fai’s home world where it is revealed Fai is actually an alias. His real name is Yui and Fai is the name of his dead twin brother. Twins born in Fai’s world bring bad omens so King Ashura put both in a tower while he went on his annual slaughter of his people. Fei Wong offered to free one of them. The real Fai asked him to save Yui, so Fei Wong tossed him out a window and let Yui, but altered his memory so that he believed he sacrificed his brother to save himself. Fai is also hexed with two curses - one that will make him murder anyone who is magically stronger than he is, and the second will cause his magical powers to destroy his own world. Ashura fights the group but Kurogane kills him. As the world begins to collapse,  Fai uses his magic to send everyone to another dimension with the intention on staying in his dying world. Kurogane is having none of it and drags Fai into Modoka’s portal by chopping his own arm off to do it. The group arrive in Nihon, Kurogane’s world, where they meet Princess Tomoyo. Kurogane is given a prosthetic arm by a pair of brothers named Fuma and Seishiro, who are hunting the vampire twins across the worlds. Fai has to give up the last of his magic to Yuuko for Kurogane to use the arm. Sakura is rendered unconscious beforehand, being stabbed by Fai as part of his curse, her body and soul are split apart, with the latter appearing in a dream world. In the dream world, Sakura encounters Kimihiro Watanuki, the protagonist of xxxHolic who works for Yuuko and has a connection to the Syaorans. The Clone Syaoran arrives in the dream world, leading to a fight between both Syaoran. Sakura jumps in the way of their attacks and is killed, destroying her soul. However, she reveals she is in fact a clone herself and the real Sakura has been a prisoner of Fei Wong all along. Fei Wong then steals Sakura’s body to use its stored power. Here is where it gets really complicated. The group set out to find and rescue the real Sakura and end up in Clow Country, which is stuck in some sort of time loop. They discover from Yuuko that Fei Wong lives in an alternate version of Clow Country, based in a different timeline which was altered by him. In that timeline, Syaoran left his world and went to Clow Country after his mother foresaw him doing so, where he met Princess Sakura, whose parents are Nadeshiko and Fujitaka (who is Syaoran’s adoptive father in the current timeline) and Clow Reed was unrelated to her. Sakura had a death seal placed on her by Fei Wong which would expire within seven years, until Syaoran was offered by Yuuko the chance to rewind time at the cost of his freedom. Syaoran agreed, and became Fei Wong’s prisoner. Fei Wong captured Sakura too, and replaced both with their clones. Syaoran could never return home as a result, and Kimihiro Watanuki was created to fill the void of Syaoran’s absence. Fei Wong’s goal is revealed. Long ago, Clow Reed and Yuuko created Mokona together, but Yuuko eventually began to die. Clow wished her for an instant to open her eyes, but the power behind his wish was so strong it caused Yuuko to become trapped in a frozen state between life and death. Clow eventually died but was reincarnated as Eriol Hiiragizawa and Fujitaka Kinomoto respectively, both of whom exist in the Cardcaptor Sakura universe. Fei Wong wishes to break Yuuko’s frozen state to prove himself superior to Clow Reed. He intended on using the magic of Sakura’s memories and body as they travel across time, space and different dimensions to achieve this. Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona confront Fei Wong, and learn Clow Country is actually a future form of the post-apocalyptic Tokyo they visited before. Clone Syaoran arrives and betrays Fei Wong, but is killed. In another twist, both clones appear trapped in a glass container, alive and unharmed. It is revealed that Yuuko and Clow Reed were aware of the two clones and paid prices for them to be reborn – Clow paid possibly with his life, while Yuuko paid by letting her death draw closer. The two were reincarnated in the Magical Knights Rayearth world, reunite, and via a paradox, become the parents of the original Syaoran. Realising they would create an endless time loop, they seal themselves in the glass container until the time is right. Now wielding the magic of Clow Reed, the two break out and confront Fei Wong. Fei Wong uses the original Sakura’s body to achieve his dream, saving Yuuko , but it causes the fabric of the universe to collapse. Kurogane kills Fei Wong while the clones undo the damage to the universe. However, Fei Wong uses a final trap, sending both Syaorans and Kimihiro into a void from which they are not meant to escape from. Both of the clones disappear, leaving Syaoran and Kimihiro. They decide to split the wish payment to escape, but it has dire consequences for both. Kimihiro’s payment is to remain in Yuuko’s shop forever. Syaoran returns to Clow Country where he reunites with his friends, learning the original timeline has been restored. However, Syaoran decides his payment must be to travel through dimensions until he finds a way to revive the clones/his parents. Kurogane, Fai and Mokona agree to accompany him whilst Sakura remains behind in Clow Country. Before departing, Syaoran and Sakura confess their love to each other, and reveal they actually have different but identical names – “Tsubasa”.

speaking  with  @undesiredwish  and  rereading  trc  recently  makes  me  think  about  how  characters  in  the  clamp  universe  tend  to  regard  clow  reed  as  almost  a  godlike  figure.  he  is  known  to  just  about  everyone  with  power  in  all  of  the  series  that  he  has  existence  in.  kero  and  yue  even  get  a  little  of  that  too  ,  despite  being  his  “  children  ”.  the  only  ones  who  don’t  seem  to  fall  into  that  are  yūko  ,  sakura  ,  and  tsubasa.  yūko  because  of  how  intertwined  they  are  ,  sakura  because  he  was  her  father  in  her  timeline  ,  and  tsubasa  because  he  watched  clow  be  a  father  to  sakura  through  syaoran’s  eye.
clow  is  also  the  only  one  outside  of  fei  wong  reed  who  acknowledged  tsubasa’s  existence  during  the  seven  years  he  was  trapped  and  watching  through  syaoran’s  eye  ,  and  that’s  incredibly  huge  to  tsubasa  ,  even  if  it  was  still  early  in  his  time  trapped.
in  some  ways  ,  tsubasa  would  be  utterly  confused  in  the  way  that  some  of  the  ccs  characters  refer  to  clow.  he’s  watched  the  man  for  a  few  years  before  he  “  died  ”  to  let  tōya  have  the  throne  ,  and  there’s  a  reason  why  tsubasa  is  completely  casual  in  the  way  that  he  refers  to  clow  as  just  “  clow  ”  ,  even  if  he  is  his  ancestor  and  his  grandfather.

Another time travel! Mokona in TRC.
mokona's on a mission, and that mission is to keep their family together no matter what. i feel like both the mokonas (can't talk about TRC without bringing xxxholic into it whoops) would be aware of the previous timeline, seeing as how they're connected to each other. in this scenario watanuki probably didn't succeed in not fading from existence and i can't remember how everything went down near the end of tsubasa AT ALL but i guess that means the same treatment for the syaorans?? so like. all three syaoran's just fucking stopped existing. AHH. yeah, mokona doesn't want that
i feel like mokona's going to do everything they can to try and keep the family together and it's going to hurt so much harder when they get to acid tokyo and nothing mokona's done manages to change anything. oh, you wanted a fix-it fic?? you didn't want mokona to cry? well tough luck
despite mokona not visibly really managing much they did subtly manage to get through and knit the family together far more tightly. i guess everyone could see how much mokona was desperate for them to all be together and it made it harder to resist. fai feels far more guilt towards the found family in this timeline. even so, he can't let go of his past
maybe mokona tries to tell someone? i feel like kurogane would be the best choice, but then he's also very resistant to being part of the family at the start. mokona has to be very careful about who he tells about the way things are going to go, cause a wrong move could just cause it to happen again. considering that fai, syaoran, and sakura are all technically fei wong reed spies kurogane is the only option. they still have to be careful about when they choose to tell kurogane
mokona brings kurogane in on the truth in piffle world

nearly a decade ago when I first started reading kurofai fanfic I read one fic where the crew ends up fighting fei wong reed with a sort of ragtag bunch of all of the people they'd befriended across their dimensional travels and I still think about this fic a lot and would love to read it again but i can't seem to find it anywhere. I know it was kurofai & i know it was most likely on ffnet - if anyone happens to know what fic this was? please for the love of god let me know

So wait, who stole Sakura's memories in the first place and why? It was still Fei Wong Reed who did it, right? Or was it Clone Syaoran?
okay this is according to my friend (bc i dont remember a shit LMAO i need to re-read)
fei wong reed stole the memories and scattered them across the universes, the reason ogkura disappeared after the cloning was bc both her body and soul was cloned. fei wong reed needed an empty vessel (that he could keep track of) to basically imprint all the information etc from the different worlds so he could have the method to bring people back from the dead(edited)
the person he wanted to revive was actually ichihara yuuko
all the female servants around fei wong reed were actually failed attempts on doing that

OK but who is Fei Wong Reed in Horitsuba Gakuen!verse?
Creepy groundskeeper??? Chairman of the other school of the district that rivals Horitsuba in sports events??? Superintendent constantly losing his shit at the crazy stunts the school pulls??? Conservative government worker constantly crying in outrage at the crazy stuff going on in this school??? The CLAMP equivalent of Onsen-mark in Urusei Yatsura- a self-righteous as all fuck teacher students really don’t like and other teachers don’t like much either and everyone kicks his ass on a daily basis????
((Whatever the case, though, he has a not-subtle at all crush on Yuuko and she knows damn well but pretends not to realize because it’s funnier.))

I genuinely think that Fei Wong Reed is ... trash... from wishes. Like back in XXXHollic where those girls we're the trash from the hopes of something bad happening.
I think he was something like that, the ends of wishes to try to make someone as strong as Clow but then it got out of control. Or he was made to be a test to see what could be done with wishes.
But Crow? Who would do that?
Take a guess. One "secret society" who wants to have as much power as they can. I wouldn't put it pass them to create something like that with no regards for the out come and those who've been effected by them

Tsubasa Chronicle Month - Day 27 - Villains’ Day
The boys are at it again...
(In case, some don’t get it, bee + train is BeeTrain the animation studio behind the trc anime.  I know that some people liked the anime, but I also know that Tsubasa could have been so much more with the right studio, director and tv station...Though I have to admit that TRC wouldn’t be where it is today without them.)
