WAIT I'M NOT OVER THIS YET

How SO MUCH of Tsubasa (and xxxHolic) is based around trades. About giving up things in exchange for what you want or what you need. About willingly (or unwillingly) giving up something important in order to get something you want even more.

How this is the first time any character has essentially been given a refund. How the magic was stolen from him - but it also kind of wasn't.

How in Acid Tokyo Fai let his eye get eaten in an attempt to help repair Syaoran's soul. He essentially GAVE his eye and magic to Syaoran on purpose to save him.

And it worked, in a way, eventually! Syaoran had a soul in the end! He was in there! He was making choices! He was alive!

BUT NOW HE'S NOT AND FAI JUST, GETS THE MAGIC BACK. THE PRICE HE PAID IS JUST GIVEN RIGHT BACK TO HIM AS IF NONE OF IT EVER HAPPENED - SYAORAN IS JUST AS DEAD AND GONE AS WHEN HIS SOUL BROKE IN ACID TOKYO, BUT WORSE NOW, BECAUSE NOW THEY ALL KNOW HE CAN'T BE SAVED.

HOW FAI WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY IF HE NEVER HAD THAT MAGIC BACK, IF IT MEANT SYAORAN GOT TO LIVE.

HOW HE LOVED HIS SON AND WANTED HIM TO LIVE AND THAT WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MAGIC THAT HAD DEFINED HIS WHOLE LIFE. IT WAS A TRADE HE MADE ON PURPOSE.

AND NOW HE JUST... GETS IT BACK.

When Ichiro Mihara said "Having children isn't all there is to life, and its not the only reason for loving someone. Happiness comes in different forms and different ways" and Freya asks Elda "What is Happiness?" and Kohaku explains how Kohaku wants to stay by Shuuichirou's side even if Shuuichirou decided not to love Kohaku "because I'm sure that Shuuichirou will become my {Special Person} Again" but then Kohaku says "If that person's happiness is not to live with you, though it's sad and hard, but, thats certainly better than that person not being happy" and then explains how those feelings are contained "right {here}" in the heart and then then Shuuichirou 5th(??) says "I'm sure an angel's wish {for Happiness} would be granted" and then Chii says Chii's 'happiness' is with Hideki, even if Hideki cannot ever have penetrative sex with Chii, and then Tomoyo says "The greatest happiness for me is to let the person I most like have the most happiness" about Sakura, who is realizing Sakura's own love for Xiaolang, and then Hideki also said "I don't love Chii because 'I wanted' to 'make love' to {Chii}. 'I wanted' to 'make love' to {have sex with} Chii because I love {Chii}." Oh!! That hasn’t happened before either! The poor bean!

Is that because of the enormous strain of travelling to THIS world in particular, as cut off and protected as it is? The same strain that Yuuko was under in performing this task?

Or is that just IT for a while? Is Mokona out of travel juice (either temporarily or permanently…?) as another signifier of the stakes? That there’s no escape from here, and no help from the outside. That there’s no way out of this whatsoever.

OOF and Mokona even has to ask if she did it correctly. Thank goodness Lava Lamp can confirm it for her, she deserves to know she did a good job! <3

Aaaaand here we are at the Kingdom of Clow! Curiously, a version of the Kingdom of Clow where the ruins still appear to be partially buried - or at least it looks like it from here. Is that just because we’re far away, or is it a signifier that the piece of time we’re in is entirely separate from anything our characters have touched? A world beyond anything Syaoran achieved with his excavation even before we started the series? Completely outside of anything we as readers have ever had the chance to see. 

Then again perhaps I'm jumping the gun and it's completely fine once we get closer. Either way I love the visual!

YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE BEST BOY IN ALL OF TIME AND SPACE?????

This boy here is Kimihiro Watanuki. The most baby of all babies. I love him so much, you have no idea

At first glance he seems so overly dramatic (because he is) and the best cook you've ever seen, but the truth is that he's a kind, caring boy, whose love language is cooking and who's so deeply lonely and who hates himself so much that, even though he is surrounded by the deep, unconditional love he yearn for from several people on his life, he just doesn't know he is loved. He doesn't think of himself as valuable. But everyone else disagrees.

You see, when he lost his eye, he even was gifted another one by the boy who was in love with him (Doumeki. The same boy who's a picky eater because of trust issues but would eat anything that Watanuki gave to him. The same Doumeki who put his life on line several times to save him. The same Doumeki who gave up on his happiness as a sacrifice for Watanuki). And he still couldn't see that he was loved. This breaks my heart everytime i think of it.

He is funny, he is unique and magical in more ways that one can think of. He is not only my favorite character, he's also the protagonist of my favorite manga and I'm begging you to read it If you still haven't.
