Aymee Garcia, the first Mme. Thénardier I ever saw back in 2001 with the 3rd National Tour, is now puppeteering Marjorie the Trash Heap and voicing Ma Gorg in the new Fraggle Rock reboot.
I had no idea she was a puppeteer as well as an actress. Her excellent performance in Les Mis is featured in this set of videos I reviewed.
This is the second Les Mis/Fraggle Rock connection I can think of, as Øystein Wiik, who voiced Gobo Fraggle in the Norwegian dub of the original show, was also a notable Jean Valjean in Olso, Vienna and London.
Does anyone else know of any Les Mis/Fraggle connections?
If anybody is on on the fence about the Fraggle Rock reboot, just know that Lilli Cooper - aka Sandy Cheeks from the Spongebob Musical stars as the new Doc. That should be motivation enough.
So...I definitely don’t dislike it. I’m just...a bit mixed. I think mostly it just is very jarring for it to have such modern pacing. The pacing felt like it was just going all over the place with hardly a minute to breathe. Can’t let the kids get bored for too long, gotta throw in a haha funni gag that goes on a little bit too long. That is not to say that I didn’t find some good jokes in the humor. It’s just that some of it felt very attention grabby. like when kids shows know they have to constantly be like “HEY LOOK OVER HERE LOOK AT ME” to keep the kids engaged. Because of the confusing pacing, it actually ended up feeling rushed? Like, when we got to the final scene with Gobo turning down the offer to go to Outer Space, even though there was technically build up to it, it still felt like it was just time to spew that part of the script? I don’t know. I think if you have a story that flows too quickly, it feels less genuine?
Does anyone else feel this way? Is it just me? I know it’s not the 80s anymore but I sure hope they can break the regular kids show norms and be a little more chill (also dark. if they don’t let them get dark at least a couple times this season I’m gonna be very >:[ )

The Mantivore is a large, praying mantis-esque creature that resides in a spout by Craggle Lagoon, as seen in the Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock episode "Craggle Lagoon."
His menacing appearance and dramatic way of greeting people has led the Craggles to believe he's a vicious beast. However, Red and Lyle Craggle discover the creature, who prefers to be called "Manty," is quite genial. Red accuses him of stealing the water from Craggle Lagoon, but he reveals to her that she and her friends were actually responsible when they inadvertently created a new waterfall in the Great Hall.
He is seen again in the season finale "All of Us," celebrating the return of water to the lagoon.
So, Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock introduces some new characters.
I don't know if we'll see Cantus and the Minstrels (it feels unlikely because I don't think anyone would want to do it without Jim Henson voicing him) but we have just met, in episode 7, Jamdolin and his Troubadors, who I suspect are their modern equivalents.
And I have to say I love his introduction...
So, to the surprise of no one, Fraggle Rock said "Non-binary rights!"
