Bridgerton Couples on Love Island
For @sophiebernadotte 😘
Kanthony: Anthony would be one of the OG islanders and pair up with Siena. They would have a tumultuous relationship as their differences outweighed the attraction they have for each other, and eventually she’d pair up with someone else leaving Anthony to kiss and flirt his way through the other girls in the villa; and then cue the arrival of bombshell sisters Kate and Edwina. All the boys are immediately drawn to the younger sister though Anthony finds himself far more drawn to Kate and can’t seem to understand why no one else is seeing what he’s seeing in her. They flirt playfully for all of 12 hours until the islanders are playing a challenge of reading out quotes that have been said in the villa and guessing who said them; and Anthony’s bullish requirements of what he expects from a woman are read out, leaving Kate pissed. They have a massive argument about it and she keeps his distance from him, much to his chagrin. To get back at her for showing him up in front of everyone, however, he decides to pair up with Edwina at the next recoupling. Edwina’s not particularly interested in him, having been more into Lumley, but she decides to give him a chance at least, much to her sister’s horror. When Anthony and Edwina go on a date it becomes painfully obvious just how dead their conversations are and that there is no real attraction between them - but it doesn’t stop Anthony winding up Kate by boasting how good their date went. The TV audience would live for the passion-fuelled arguments the pair get into and how they both live to torment the other. It’s only during Casa Amor when the girls are away that Anthony realises he has 0 interest in any of the new girls and decides to stick with Edwina during the recoupling. Edwina returns to the villa with Matty Bagwell but Anthony isn’t actually that bothered by this - no, he’s far more bothered when Kate returns to the villa with Thomas Dorset - and it’s only then that he finally recognises that Kate’s been the one for him all along. As one of the only single people in the villa, Anthony gets the chance to take an islander of his choice on a date; and naturally he picks Kate, which comes as a shock to no one else but Kate. During the date Kate’s defences fall as Anthony opens up and shows her a more sensitive side than what he’s shown so far and she realises he’s far softer than she ever thought him capable to be. Back at the villa they spend more and more time together, sniping far less without losing their love for teasing one another, and then at the next recoupling Kate chooses to recouple with him over Thomas. As soon as they’re in a couple they’re kissing and cuddling and full on making out all across the villa, but what drives the TV audience wild is during the talent show when Kate is giving an absolutely horrendous flute performance, the camera pans to Anthony gazing at her with complete adoration. People would be tweeting “oh so he’s in love love” and then that night they get picked to go to the Hideaway and well, let’s just saying Kate plays with another flute that night...
Benophie: Benedict would initially be paired up with Gen and while the pair have good fun and banter, they both acknowledge that the spark they’re looking for just isn’t there. He next couples up with Tessa but again, while the sexual chemistry is there, there’s still something missing and once more the pair end things on friendly terms. Benedict would be the islander everyone at home is rooting for, wanting the perfect girl to walk in for him (but he’s not cringe or disappointing a la Dr Alex or Hugo lmao). At the next recoupling he’s the only boy not picked and he’s fully expecting to get dumped until he gets a text telling him Sophie is waiting just outside of the villa for their date; and when he arrives and sees her, he knows all at once that she’s what he’s been waiting for. The conversation flows, they’re both giddy around each other and just from that one date the audience want them to win. During the next few days some of the guys try chatting to Sophie but all she sees is Benedict and they’re practically attached at the hip, trading kisses and playing with each other’s hands. When the recoupling comes, Benedict has no hesitation who he’s going to pick - but he’s left in turmoil when Phillip Cavender gets to pick first and throws a cat among the pigeons by coupling up with Sophie. Everyone is left shook and Benedict has no choice but to be saddled with Prudence in a couple, but luckily his bed is right next to Sophie’s and they hold each other’s hand when they go to sleep. During the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge, Sophie makes it clear that not only is she not interested in Cavender but she’s repulsed by him and pies him with a lot of force, before breaking the rules and opting to marry and snog Benedict just to prove a point. During Casa Amor Benedict sleeps in the day bed along with Hugh Woodson, unable to stand the thought of sharing a bed with anyone but Sophie, and he’d make the audience’s hearts melt when he professes “I miss her” to Hugh. He spends the entirety of their stay at Casa Amor pouting and moping, and whenever any of the new girls try chatting to him all he can talk about is Sophie and how much he likes her. When he returns to the main villa, he’s hopeful that she hasn’t found anyone else, and he wells up as soon as he sees that she’s stood by herself waiting for him. He doesn’t even bother talking to the host, running past her to catch Sophie in his arms and kiss her passionately. That night in bed when everyone else is asleep Benedict asks her to be his girlfriend and she happily accepts, and then, without any fanfare, he tells her he loves her and she returns the sentiment, and the pair kiss before falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Polin: Colin arrives as a bombshell and is immediately taken with Marina. They couple up but it takes a while for him to realise that he’s far more into her than she is into him, as she’s still not over George Crane, who she had a falling out with prior to Colin’s arrival. Though disheartened, Colin steps aside for them to get back together. He spends the next few weeks charming his way into other couples and entertaining the audience with his quips and his talking heads in the Beach Hut, but he doesn’t find a girl who he truly clicks with - at least, that’s what the audience think. Behind the scenes, Colin has grown a fondness for Penelope, the crew member who runs the Beach Hut and who will prompt the contestants if needed. Colin finds himself preferring her company over the rest of the islanders and will spend a couple of hours at a time holed up in the Beach Hut just to entertain her and even get her to forget her job and chat away with him. Soon the best part of his day is spending time with her and he makes multiple trips to the Beach Hut just to see her. It’s not until one day that it’s brought to Penelope’s attention by the mic guy that one of the other contestants, Fife, had been teasing Colin about his constant trips to the Beach Hut and inferring that Colin was crushing on Penelope, when Colin had scoffed that he was far from interested in the red-headed crew member. Having fallen for him, Penelope is devastated and swaps duties with someone else, no longer able to be around Colin. None the wiser, Colin is crushed when he next traipses to the Beach Hut and finds the grumpy middle aged Varley in charge of asking questions instead of his Pen. During his time at Casa Amor surrounded by the new girls desperate to vie for his attention, Colin finds himself bored and uninterested, comparing all of them to Penelope; and only then does it hit him that it’s Penelope he’s in love with. Back at the main villa he holes himself up in the Beach Hut and refuses to leave until he can see Penelope, who eventually storms in with a face like thunder and berates him for causing problems for production. Left alone in the small room, Penelope brings up what she heard him say to Fife and how it hurt her to hear him be so dismissive of her. He apologises and assures her he only said it to stop Fife pestering him and then floors her by telling her he’s in love with her. She tries to dismiss him, telling him the heat must have got to him and that the other islanders are much more his type, but he proves his sincerity by kissing her, and playfully tells her he won’t stop kissing her until she believes him. Penelope teases him by saying she doesn’t quite believe him and so he continues to kiss her and kiss her and eventually the rest of the production crew are confused why it’s taking so long for Penelope to sort the contestant out - until they all hear guttural moaning from the locked room. Penelope gets fired but she doesn’t mourn her job loss for long as Colin declares he’s leaving the villa to be with her, and the pair continue their summer holidaying around the Mediterranean. The audience have no idea what really went on or why Colin suddenly decided to leave until he posts a video on his Youtube channel a year later where he introduces Penelope and they share their story with the public - naturally, the viewers lose their shit but are so happy that Colin found the right woman for him.
Saphne: By some terrible misfortune, Daphne is forced into a couple with Nigel Berbrooke after everyone else is partnered up on the first day; but then that evening Simon enters the villa as the bombshell and without even chatting with any of the girls, steals Daphne to couple up. There’s a bit of drama with Nigel insisting just because Daphne’s now coupled up with Simon doesn’t mean she can’t still get to know him, but Simon points out that Daphne’s got to actually want to get to know Nigel. Despite finding him a bit up himself (and vice versa), Daphne sticks with Simon when she gets to pick at the next recoupling, each of them finding solace by having the other as a safety net. Every new guy who comes in shows interest in Daphne and while she humours them, she keeps finding herself coming back to Simon to laugh and chat with. They insist they’re just a friendship couple but the TV audience know better, and it isn’t until they kiss in a challenge that they both realise there’s something more there. They get closer and become more romantic but Simon’s insecurities get the better of him and he pushes her way. She ends up being comforted by the newest bombshell, Friedrich, and chooses to couple up with him (despite the fact Cressida had opined she intended to couple up with him). It’s only seeing Daphne with another guy that Simon grows jealous and realises he likes her far more than he was letting himself believe. The tension between them is still there and it’s not until a sneaky kiss on the terrace that Cressida sees and goes around telling everyone about that they decide to get back together. Just before Casa Amor, however, Daphne mentions wanting to have children one day, which leads to Simon breaking the news to her that he doesn’t. It’s a massive deal-breaker and they end things before he leaves for Casa Amor. During their time away, neither one meets anyone who they’re as into, and despite parting ways they both remain single at the end of the week. They stay in their couple but before they do anything they have a deep conversation with Simon opening up about his fears of becoming just like his father, but telling Daphne he loves her so much that he wants to work on his issues in order to be with her and one day be in a position to also want kids; if she’s willing to be patient with him. Daphne assures him she is, telling him she loves him too, and they reunite. Then during the baby challenge Daphne enjoys spending the day seeing after Augie, but what she enjoys most is seeing how focused Simon is at the task at hand. In spite of his parental anxieties, Simon takes the role very seriously and takes great care with his plastic fake son so much so that they’re named the winners of the challenge and thus giving Simon the confidence that he will one day make a great father.
Philloise: Love Island is absolutely not a show Eloise ever expected to find herself on but she’s not there to find love; she’s there for the £50k and to take down as many brainless chauvinists as she possibly can. Her nose is constantly scrunched up with the lines and air-headed things her fellow contestants say and she’s not afraid to put any man in his place should he upset one of the other girls. Eloise makes for TV gold as she always has something to say and doesn’t take shit from anyone and she quickly becomes a fan favourite despite falling out of favour with the majority of the boys. The only guy in the villa who gets on with her, finds her amusing, and chooses to couple up with on a friendship basis is Theo. They get along well as he’s the only guy who can meet her on an intellectual level and in Eloise’s head she reckons they can make it to the final and even secure the bag. There’s just one hitch - Eloise makes the shocking discovery that she’s caught feelings for him. She tries to play it cool and doesn’t give him any reason to think she sees him as anything more than friends but she admits in the Beach Hut that she really enjoys kissing him in tasks and challenges. Theo notices she’s gone unusually quiet in recent days and finally she admits she might kinda like him and he admits he might kinda like her too and they decide to give their romance a go. They get on well for a couple of weeks and then Casa Amor happens. Eloise has no interest in any other guy and is confident that Theo will feel the same with the new girls - but when she walks back into the main villa, her hopes shatter when she sees him stood by the fire pit with another girl. When she tries talking to him to try and understand what he sees in this new girl that he doesn’t see in her, Theo turns on her and throws a bunch of stuff in her face and saying he dislikes the qualities that he had once told her he really liked about her (please envision this as the Michael vs. Amber “ya chaldish!” argument lmao). Eloise is anguished by how harshly she’s being treated by a guy she thought she could trust and the audience are sad to see her curl in on herself and be a little less fiery and talkative than she’s known to be. It’s not until a week later that Eloise finds herself left alone at the fire pit following a recoupling and expects to leave the villa with nothing more than heartache when to everyone’s surprise she receives a text to inform her she’s now coupled up with Phillip, who then enters and upon reaching her receives a text informing them they’re going to go and have their first date. Eloise can’t quite believe it as she and Phillip go on a stargazing date and what shocks her even more is that he’s nothing like any other guy she’s ever met. He’s sweet, tender-hearted, and knowledgeable, and wants to know all about her and she keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop, for his facade to slip but it never does. She does query what a guy like him is doing on the show and she’s blown away when he tells her that once he saw her on the TV, he just knew he had to meet her and that to him, she’s the perfect woman. Eloise is stunned by such an admission but then shocks herself when she surges forward and kisses him and discovers all the kisses she had with Theo pale in comparison to this kiss with Phillip. Back at the villa Eloise tries to steady her hopes, thinking Phillip will want to at least get to know some of the other girls but he only has eyes for her and tells her that he came to the villa just for her. The audience is thrilled to see Eloise back to her old self but now all loved up and radiant with happiness with Phillip. Then one night Phillip is with some of the guys when one of them asks; “how’s the taming of the shrew coming along?” Phillip, though clearly rattled, doesn’t raise his voice but firmly puts the guy in his place, telling him to have some respect for Eloise and that there is nothing he would wish to change about her. Eloise is none the wiser about this interaction but in defending her honour he wins over the trust of the public. And then, when Eloise and Phillip do make it to the final and win and he ends up picking the envelope with the £50k, the host has barely finished asking the question when Phillip says he wants to share the money and hopefully the rest of his life with Eloise.
Franchel: Cousins John and Michael enter the villa as bombshells and turn all of the girls’ heads. They each get to pick three girls to have dates with, with each girl preparing a course, and the girl who gets picked by both of them is Francesca. Michael had his eye on her as soon as he entered and he shares a dessert with her after she’s had mains with John. When it comes to the recoupling, Michael hasn’t discussed with John that he wants to couple up with Francesca, seeing as John has been getting on with all of the girls, so he’s thrown when John picks first and chooses Francesca for himself. Michael really has no one else but himself to blame for not making his feelings known to his cousin but he decides to right this by having a conversation with John where he plans to ask if he can still get to know Francesca. However, when they go for a chat, John is so delighted to be coupled up with her that Michael doesn’t have the heart to make his own feelings known and instead decides not to tread on his cousin’s toes. John and Francesca are one of the steadiest couples in the villa, meanwhile Michael goes from woman to woman, having fun and getting embroiled in drama without hurting any of the other girls feelings; but all the while he knows his heart is with Francesca. His cousin and Francesca welcome him quite happily as a third wheel and the trio are always hanging around together, though it doesn’t escape the audience’s notice that Michael is drawn to his cousin’s partner just in the way he looks at her longingly. It’s only after a couple of different challenges that John becomes aware of his cousin’s feelings. During the Twitter challenge, a tweet is read out insinuating that Michael and Francesca would make for a better pairing and that Michael can’t settle because his cousin is with the girl he really wants to be with. Things become awkward between the trio though what was revealed is never discussed, however the suggestion that Michael likes her makes Francesca start thinking about him in a new light. Then, during the heart rate challenge, Michael dominates by spiking all of the girls heart rate, including Francesca’s, meanwhile Francesca is the person who spikes Michael’s heart rate the most, and everyone sees how close the pair come to actually kissing when she was dancing up on him. John takes all of this into consideration and then asks Francesca if she has any feelings for Michael. Francesca is tearful when she admits that there might be something there but she doesn’t want to come between the cousins who are as close as brothers. John then has a word with Michael, finally asking him if he wants Francesca, and his cousin wearily confesses that he liked her straightaway but never wanted to get in John’s way and just wants him to be happy. John mulls everything over before convening with both of them on the terrace and announcing he’s going to leave the villa - and that he wants Michael and Francesca to give things a go. They both try to argue with him, telling him he doesn’t have to leave and Michael even offers to leave instead, but John insists; he can now see just how much Francesca and his cousin mean to each other and knows they can make each other happier. He holds no ill will against them and really just wants what’s best, telling them it’ll be worth it if they do end up falling in love, and he’s sure he’ll find someone else. After a teary goodbye Michael and Francesca recouple together and though initially hesitant of moving too quickly after John’s departure, the heat is ignited between them when they share a kiss. Some of the other islanders voice their opinion that they think Michael just wanted what he couldn’t have but he barely notices anyone else but Francesca once they get together. They then go on to prove the naysayers wrong as Michael remains faithful and devoted to Francesca and Francesca alone (and rumour has it their night in the Hideaway was one of the most explicit visits of all time).
Grucy: Lucy rolls her eyes when the newest bombshell, Gregory, makes a beeline to her best friend Hermione, after every other guy in the villa has done the exact same thing. Just as she’s done before, Hermione humours Gregory’s advances but Lucy knows her heart’s not in it (and she knows of Hermione’s secret boyfriend on the outside - her friend is only on the show for a Boohoo/Pretty Little Thing fashion deal). Gregory does try something new in comparison to the other guys; he seeks out Lucy’s advice and opinion on how to get Hermione to like him. Lucy is surprised and tries to tell him that if Hermione’s feeling it then he’ll know but he keeps going to Lucy for more tips. Lucy feels awful, knowing his efforts will be futile considering Hermione is besotted with her boyfriend on the outside world, but she does think Gregory’s far better than Sam Edmonds, and so she decides to try her best to help him. She talks him up to Hermione and always invites him to sit with them and chat, before excusing herself to give them some time alone (even if it means having to put up with Neville Berbrooke’s flirtatious advances). Little by little, Hermione does seem to be growing fond of Gregory, and as happy as she is with the success she’s been having, Lucy can’t help but wish that she was getting Gregory’s attention. Then, during a challenge in which the boys and girls are each blindfolded and have to rate out of ten a kiss given to them by the opposing team, Hermione gives Gregory’s kiss a 10/10. Gregory’s thrilled and then he gives a 10/10 to the kiss that set off sparks in his heart and soul - but he’s shocked when it turns out he gave such a rating to Lucy’s kiss (and a measly 4/10 to Hermione’s kiss). As thrown as he is by such an outcome, Gregory persists in winning Hermione over, and fortunately his efforts pay off when she chooses to couple up with him. He is thrilled until he wakes up the next day and realises all the girls have left for Casa Amor. Gregory stays faithful but when Hermione returns she’s coupled up with Richard, who turns out to be Lucy’s older brother. Aghast with the result, Gregory lashes out at Lucy, feeling betrayed by her but he stops immediately when she starts crying, telling him she had been shocked to see her brother appear and that she had no idea how he ended up coupling up with her best friend. Gregory comforts her, realising she was none the wiser about any of it, and suddenly he has a crystallizing moment that Hermione was never right for him. Later that night Gregory gets out of bed to get a breath of fresh air and finds Lucy already outside doing the same thing. They chat and Gregory realises how easy it is to talk to her, to just be with her, and it occurs to him that whenever it’s just the two of them the rest of the world melts away; and as soon as this dawns on him, he kisses her. Lucy is surprised and rushes back to her bed, and when Gregory tries talking to her about it the next day she tells him she knows it didn’t mean anything, thinking she was nothing but a rebound for him after Hermione. Gregory is dejected, thinking she doesn’t feel the same way for him, and it hurts him to see her in her couple with Arthur Haselby, wishing he was the one who got to share her bed and get to go on dates with. Then one day, Gregory is surprised to be pulled by Hermione into the pantry and she insists they take off their mic packs, and once they do she quietly informs him that she knows Arthur on the outside; not only is he just in the villa to get a brand deal, but she knows he has a boyfriend on the outside. It’s all the convincing Gregory needs to pursue Lucy without fearing of treading on anyone’s toes and he constantly picks her to do challenges with, tugging her into quiet corners for stolen kisses, and telling her how much he likes her. Lucy is still apprehensive, thinking Gregory’s just trying to make Hermione jealous even though she feels more of a spark with him than with Arthur (and naturally the audience at home are screaming at her to let go and love Gregory back). Eventually Hermione and Richard convince her to follow her heart and at the next recoupling she takes a leap of faith and couples up with Gregory. As soon as they’re together properly, Lucy can’t remember why she had felt so hesitant as Gregory showers her with constant love and affection, and during the prom night ahead of the final Gregory declares his love for her and Lucy just knows she’s going to spend the rest of her life with him.
Hyareth: For the first few weeks, Hyacinth has fun getting to know various boys but none of them are doing anything for her. She spends most of her days with her best friend Felicity and the guy her friend coupled up with on the very first day, Geoff, keeping the pair (and the audience) entertained with her anecdotes and remarks. She laments one evening that she might not find love in the villa but she’ll enjoy the all-expenses paid for holiday nevertheless - and just as she’s finished saying that, in walks the newest bombshell, Gareth, and Hyacinth falls uncharacteristically silent, much to Felicity and Geoff’s great amusement. Initially Hyacinth tries to play it cool with Gareth, not wanting to scare him off (as she fears she’s done with the other guys so far), but he ends up bringing out her true self and what’s more he adores her for exactly who she is. They get along right away but they take things slowly, both wanting a relationship based on friendship first and foremost, and as such they don’t have their first kiss until after they’ve coupled up. From that kiss onwards Hyacinth is smitten and the pair spend all of their time together larking about in the pool, pulling pranks on Felicity and Geoff, and sitting around laughing about anything and everything. During a challenge in which the villa have to fill in the blanks of headlines about the show, Hyacinth is shocked when one headline states that Gareth is only coupling up with her because she’s popular on the outside world; and what’s more, his own father gave the interview. She starts to second guess their entire relationship, wondering if she’s just been his meal ticket this whole time, but Gareth opens up to her and tells her of his fractured relationship with his father who undermines him at every turn and has it out to sabotage every last thing in Gareth’s life. He pleads with her not to believe his father’s lies, not when she’s the best thing to ever happen to him, and Hyacinth chooses to believe him over a bitter old man. Gareth proves to be nothing but all-in with Hyacinth but she’s confused when he keeps reminding her to try to get to know other guys. When Hyacinth tells him she only wants to be with him and demands to know why he’s trying to push her away, he confesses that he fears she can do so much better than him and doesn’t want to hold her back from achieving her true happiness. Hyacinth asks him to rid his mind of his father’s cruel voice and to have faith in her when she says that she believes they are worthy of each other and can achieve true happiness together. From then on Gareth lets go of his insecurities especially after the contestants friends and family visit the villa. Hyacinth’s mother and eldest brother couldn’t approve of him high enough much to his relief, and he can’t help the fond smile he wears as Hyacinth gets on with his grandmother like a house on fire (and not to mention Agatha would be chiding him for ever letting his father’s stupid opinion get in the way of his happiness). Then during their final date he can’t stop smiling across at her, his heart absolutely full when he tells her quite simply that he loves her. Hyacinth exchanges the sentiment and they share a kiss just as fireworks go off overhead - which startles Hyacinth into cursing, making Gareth laugh. She apologises for ruining the moment but he tells her fondly that he wouldn’t have it any other way and kisses her once more.

assigning taylor swift songs to bridgerton couples (part 2)
with explanations that no one asked for (proceed with caution)
part 1 for a, b, c and d
eloise & phillip - i hadn’t even read the book and i knew paris was their song. i feel it captures their essence. “no, i didn't see the news 'cause we were somewhere else” while benophie are just as deep in the countryside, i think philoise truly don’t care about anything that goes on in the ton. “i want to brainwash you into loving me forever” i’m not sure why this line in particular stands out to me in context of their relationship. maybe because going into it they both had their agenda. also phillip constantly thinking he has to find a way to make eloise stay forever. “confess my truth in swooping, sloping, cursive letters” i think this one is self explanatory. secondly electric touch, i was hesitant about this one cause i’m just not a fan of this song sonically but the lyrics were too on point. “just breathe, just relax, it'll be okay // just the first time ever hanging out with you” - eloise sitting in her carriage on the way to meet a man who basically proposed to her without meeting once. from phillip’s “i've gotten used to no one callin' my phone” when eloise shows up and the servant’s “hey, we got a caller” and phillip going “wtf no one comes here, you sure about that”. also “i've grown accustomed to sleeping' alone” yeah eight years will do that. “i was thinking, just one time maybe the stars align, just one time and maybe I call you mine”
francesca & michael - so i have a story regarding this one. as i got to the second half of the book and the spice started flooding in, i felt like the need for some equally sexy music in the background and i remembered (honestly don’t know how i ever forgot) the altarpiece of taylor’s music  false god. truly all the stars aligned, while i read the words “she felt cherished. worshipped. loved” miss taylor swift sang “we'd still worship this love”. other than that it does fall into the vibes category. tho if one day we are blessed enough to actually get their season i am expecting every social media feed to be drowning in edits of  franchel to this song. but also alternatively to don’t blame me. again, sexy. well the spice in this book was just on another level and i also couldn’t figure out if taylor has a song about being in love with your cousins spouse for six years. i think this is more from michael’s perspective. i mean “i've been breaking' hearts a long time” he even broke mine by being fictional. “if you walk away i'd beg you on my knees to stay” michael stirling would absolutely do this and frankly i can’t stop picturing it. if we do get to them in the show some glorious day, this is my official plea to include this song in the soundtrack.
gregory & lucy - speak now is the somewhat lazy choice but have you read the prologue timed to this song. “i hear the preacher say, "speak now or forever hold your peace"” the church went silent “there's the silence, there's my last chance. i stand up with shaky hands, all eyes on me” the priest stopped his drone, and every spine in every pew twisted until every face was turned to the back. to him. “horrified looks from everyone in the room but i'm only looking at you” she said nothing, but he saw her. // she looked so beautiful. i rest my case. it was really hard to pick a song for them because there’s so many twists and turns in the book so my honourable mentions are haunted (when gregory convinced everything is solved and then lucy goes and marries another man) and daylight. finally i settled with ivy. “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand, taking mine but it's been promised to another” i mean lucy has been promised to another man from the start of the book. it just fits them, okay (can you tell i’ve been writing this for four hours at this point).
hyacinth & gareth - dear god, hyacinth is my favourite character in the whole books series. i adore her but for the love of god i could not figure out what songs to choose for hyareth. it was truly a headache and if anyone has any suggestions, please do not hesitate to tell me. because they are such a chaotic and energetic duo, i wanted something that would fit them musically but ended up picking cowboy like me and peace. both are truly in the vibes category, i don’t have much of an explanation. in cowboy like me “and the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up” felt kinda reminiscent of the whole polt line with gareth and his father who wasn’t really his father. peace has a little more substance to it. in my head this is more from hyacinth, she is wild and you will never get bored with her but she can also be a lot and tiring. “you know that i'd swing with you for the fences, sit with you in the trenches. give you my wild, give you a child” this is who hyacinth is, she is a ride or die, and i truly believe she would sit in the trenches with gareth.

Haha. I wasn't criticizing your claim about promotion. We HAVE gotten less for Polin, but I have faith we'll get a lot later on. I like Kanthony too! I was just saying some ppl like to complain abt that season's amount of press; many would & have said Polin has had more atp, which I just laugh at! Feel free to your opinion about the lack of it. We are desperately waiting for S3!

May I respectfully request a drabble of drunk, then hungover Michael and Phillip?
I have no idea if this is any good as my muse is being a prick… but here I hope you enjoy it
It hadn’t meant to get out of hand like it did.
It had been a while since Phillip and Michael had seen one another and they’d planned just a few quiet drinks whilst their wives were with the children…
That was what they had planned…
But it went slightly wayward after Michael got out the bottle of Whiskey and then totally out of hand when the second bottle came out… neither were in control of what was going on anymore.
The two men were the closest in age out of the male Spouses. Phillip and Sophie were the same age but with Simon being 10 years older than them, they were just 3 years apart but both in the same boat so had bonded from the off.
They had inherited titles they never expected to get. Phillip had been the second son and Michael the cousin…
But both… had had the responsibility thrust upon them and it was down to them to deal with it all and found the other man to be quite sympathetic to their plight.
Out of all the Bridgerton’s and Spouses, both had other’s that they got on better with. Phillip with Sophie, Michael with Colin, both of whom were incidentally the same age as them but if made to choose their second, they would always choose one another but it was rare that they’d have time with just the two of them.
Sophie and Benedict had written to say that 6 year old Violet had a little bit of a fever so they were going to have to miss dinner and Colin and Penelope were in London visiting her mother with their brood so it had just been the two couples and after dinner, Eloise and Francesca had taken one year old Fred and John to bed and a few month old Janet was napping on her mother’s bosom when they’d retired to Phillip’s study.
It had started jovially enough, as most of the reunions with a fellow Bridgerton spouse did…
Talking about the insane things their wives had been getting up to, what their children were doing and how they were holding up and then sharing the news of what was going on with the other spouses.
Not that Phillip was a fan of gossiping, he reasoned that this wasn’t gossip, it was family news and therefore was acceptable.
He’d just finished filling Michael in about Lottie’s latest plans where she’d posted her mother’s flute and father’s trumpet along with Miles to William and Violet in Wiltshire and begged for them to throw them in the lake so their parents would never find it, when Michael had broken out the whiskey.
“I’d planned to share this with the rest but it’s just us… Benedict won’t mind that much if we drink some of it without him after last time…”
“He might but Sophie will be pleased. It took him 4 days to shake that last whiskey hangover… Vivi cried thinking her papa had actually died…” Phillip said with a chuckle.
“Well then we are saving his marriage by drinking it without him…” Michael had said before pouring them both a glass and launching into a tirade about one of his tenants and how he’d had to leave Francesca in charge of sorting it whilst she was pregnant as he’d taken poorly with his malaria.
Their conversation flowed easily with the whiskey, Phillip had told him about the twins and Charlie joining forces to get their own back on Alex and how it had ended in a lot of tears because Will, Penny and Vivi had gotten caught in the flour storm and Mrs Crabtree had scolded them so hard that even Oliver had cried.
And it had taken the three of them four hours to clean up the mess that they had made and then they got a lecture from Benedict and Sophie which had made them all feel even worse.
It was nearly midnight when they’d finished the first and suggested one more as a nightcap before they headed to bed…
But it didn’t end up being one more. Michael had slipped on his chair and sent the paper ball he was playing with into the air and it had landed in Phillip’s drink and Michael had cheered and said that Phillip then had to drink the entire drink in one…
And it turned into a competition.
They may not be actual bridgerton’s but they’d spent enough time around them that they had both caught the competitive gene…
And it turned into a game. Their glasses on the end of Phillip’s desk, tossing paper balls into the drink…
Until they’d passed out on the floor neither unable to stand.
Neither of them remembered their wives poking their heads in to enquire if they were coming to bed in the middle of the paper ball game, when they’d yelled something incoherent…
And had no idea that they were going to make them pay the following morning…
The sun had barely come up when the door to the office flew open with a very loud bang and Eloise and Francesca stood there over the as they looked up at them, bleary eyed and looking very pale and in need of a chamber pot to throw up in.
“Seen as you two couldn’t be bothered to spend time with your wives after dinner and got foxed instead…” Eloise said
“We’ve decided we’re going to go visit Sophie and make sure little Vivi is okay and offer our assistance with the boys…” Francesca said
“We’ve given the nannies the afternoon off, so YOU two are in charge of the kids once they’ve broken their fast… so you need to get your sodden bottom’s off the floor and get sober quickly… we’ll be back after dinner this evening” Eloise said, linking her arm through Francesca’s and turning around without so much of a word.
Phillip and Michael turned to one another, green in the face and after Phillip threw up in a shoe… and much to his dismay, Michael threw up in one of his plant pots “i think we’re being punished…”
“I think so…”
But as they heard the hyper screams from the children they went white “oh Jesus Christ” Michael groaned “i think i’m going to die…”
“DADDDDDDDDDDDY UNCYYYY MIKEEEEEEEEEEEE… FREDDIE AND NETTIE MADE A MESS!” came Penny’s voice and both men looked over at one another and knew that today could not get possibly worse.

I want the backstories to all of these weddings
I would love to read about amanda and eloise going dress shopping
Okay so the modern Bridgerton Brides backstory would have been told from the perspective of Genevieve (Ginny Delacroix) who is the Bridgertons jack of all trades wedding planner.
She's organanized all the Bridgerton weddings except Francesca's 2nd and Lucy's 1st. But she still keeps the Dress pictures in her portfolio for future reference.
And I just had this idea of Mme Delacroix just going over her best work and adding little notes on what the bride was like, how the groom proposed and whatever she thought was interesting about the dress. So the story would have been in 3rd person with a very unreliable narrator. Because Ginny Delacroix knows things but she doesn't know everything that happened.
Simon and Daphne: they supposedly were engaged for a long time, Hollywood director x Hollywood starlet kind of romance, it wasn't until Ginny was called to organize the wedding of the century in like a week, that she found out that Saphne was actually a publicity stunt and now they had to get married because Simon's investors were suspecting him of running a long con to get his hands on the movie deals he wanted and give the starring roles to Daphne. Delacroix &Co was given free reign on the budget and to this day it's been the most extravagant affair she's organized for the Bridgertons.
Anthony and Kate: bitter Buisness rivals, Anthony crossed the line by chatting up Kate's sister in a club and Kate made it her mission to block all of his major deals for the next business quarter. Nobody knows what was happening behind the scenes, Ginny always suspected they were banging because come on, those kind of flaming looks they gave each other at the Saphne wedding. But anyway flash forward a few months later, Ginny gets called in the middle of the night to plan a wedding for next week, because all the news trending on Twitter had pictures of the award ceremony in which the paparazzi caught Anthony with his hands on Kate's boobs. Ginny knows that in reality Kate's dress had a bra malfunction and Anthony's first instinct was to cover up her boobs with his hands before she could flash the whole internet. But he claims he was proposing to her in a very intimate way and is now suing the press for invasion of privacy. There was a bee involved in that whole mess, but Ginny never got the whole story. So in the end for the sake of saving face with Kate's family they got married in a wedding that was a mix of Indian rituals and British marriage traditions
Benedict and Sophie: Ginny actually gave them a discount for this one, because Sophie is her friend. Benedict apparently got injured in the racetrack one day and Sophie was hired as his live in doctor. Turns out they had history together, because she had a one night stand with him, back when Benedict was in college and then just never called him. They had some sort of whrilwind romance where Sophie refused to sleep with him, because she felt he really didn't care about her as a person and everyone in the comment section of his Instagram thought that she was holding out for a ring because he's rich. So when Benedict resigned Bridgerton industries to follow his dreams of being a painter it came as a surprise that Sophie was fully okay with being the main breadwinner while he got his feet off the ground. They had a very simple wedding on the beach and Sophie refused to let Anthony fund any of it. Benedict too, paid out of his own earnings, not his family money. And yes, she was indeed waiting to be cleared from charges after a wrongful arrest when Benedict proposed. Nobody has let him live it down yet
Colin and Penelope: long story short Penelope and Colin used to be friends, but Pen realized she was being taken for granted and took a break from hanging out with Colin, which in turn made Colin needy and woke him up to the fact that he couldn't live without her. okay so maybe it's a little harsh to say Penelope got proposed to by a stalker, but that's because Ginny is still mad at Colin for literally tracking down Penelope's wreabouts using Ginny's Instagram posts, since back then, Ginny was in France photographing Penelope for a new ad campaign that was going to be in Delacroix &Co website. And then to add insult to injury just when Ginny thought she'd have 3 months to plan the wedding between her long time friend and the guy said friend had a crush on since forever. Violet Bridgerton calls and asks for the wedding to be ready in 3 weeks because Pen is pregnant... EXCUSE ME! Ginny knows for a fact that Penelope has an arm implant. Colin said whaaat?. Ginny's revenge was that see trough, sexy, wedding dress, the wedding planner wanted to make sure that Penelope's something blue would be Colin's balls. And Portia's outrage was only a bonus
Eloise and Phillip: Ginny really has very few details on this one, Eloise never wanted to have a wedding, never even wanted to get married. But she had to download a dating app for an investigation piece at her feminist magazine and the first guy she met was a Cambridge professor who agreed with everything she said, and they hit it off or so they claim. Ginny was under the impression that Eloise was simply taking advantage of the guy's house in central London since Phillip let her crash there on the weekends without paying for a hotel. But no it turned out that Eloise did like him and she liked his children too. Whatever happened with Phillip and the twins inspired Eloise to go more into activism that focused on domestic abusers. Honestly Eloise only agreed to get married for legal reasons (like being allowed in a hospital if they were sick) and because she felt that Phillip and the kids didn't have enough positive memories in their lives and it would be a shame to rob them of a family moment like a wedding, even a barely there wedding. No matter how much she does still think marriage is a piece of paper. One day Eloise took Amanda to the mall, showed her around the boutiques and told the kid to pick any dress she wanted her new step mom to wear. Phillip let Oliver pick his tux. Everything was off the rack and barely cost much, the rest of the Bridgertons ended up meeting Phillip and the twins the weekend before the wedding. When Eloise remembered to contact Ginny about organizing a quick after-party to soothe her family's anger. She's so independent honestly forgot to tell them she was dating someone, honest. Now, everytime anyone forgets to tell her something, they remind her that she forgot to tell her them she was even getting married
Francesca and John: this wedding is the crown jewel of Ginny Delacroix wedding planning work. Everything was perfect, years in the making, no shenanigans, Violet was so proud! Anthony was so proud! Ginny herself was so proud! St Paul himself would have been proud... aaaand the groom died 2 years later. Yeah not something Francesca likes to talk about
Francesca and Michael: the wedding that made Ginny Delacroix blacklist a Bridgerton! How could they do this to her. Not only did Francesca get married in Vegas wearing a dress that was basically a mini dress with a white tablecloth tied to the hips. But she married the playboy billionaire Rock Star cousin of her deceased husband. Francesca really said go big or go home, went from the cute, interior designer wife of a Scottish lawyer to the ball busting manager wife of a Rock Star. Ginny knows there's a story there! She just knows Michael did some sort of voodoo on Francesca during that trip to Vegas. But she's never managed to pin them down long enough to confirm her theories
Lucy and Ricky: the slimy stingy toad of a man that is Lucy's uncle, planned that wedding, and it shows because it was ugly as hell. Gregory conned Ginny into attending as his plus one and you could tell Don Abernathy was embezzling his niece money by the cheap way the wedding was set up. Ricky Haselby had more chemistry with his groomsman and at one point when the cops showed up to arrest Lucy's uncle and Rick's father, the bride actually took a knife from the buffet table and slashed her dress to make it shorter and run for her life. Good for her! Good for her!!
Gregory and Lucy: Beautiful mess, Ginny pulled every string she could to give them a wedding worth talking about within days of Gregory's dramatic kidnapping proposal. Good for her for wearing pants too! How it happened? Ginny Delacroix doesn't have details either. Something something about Lucy being Gregory's wingman with Hermione and ending up seduced herself. Ginny doesn't care, what she cares about is that Lucy's uncle went to jail ! That was incredible entertainment! Also, she totally gave Haselby and his groomsman her card when Gregory and Lucy were having their first dance
Hyacinth and Gareth: The official story is that Hyacinth and Gareth met as children in his grandmothers Academy and then as adults they reconnected and he proposed in a very normal way, with a flash mob and a boom box, you know, if Hyacinth broadcasting her entire relationship in TikTok is considered normal. I think Hyacinth got so much sponsorship deals just to turn her wedding into a event for her followers that it didn't even matter that Gareth was indeed pretty much flat broke at the time because his father disowned him for chosing Hyacinth over the St Clair fortune and demanded he breakup with her. He proposed instead. She wanted to elope but her mom wanted her to have a nice wedding and so did grandma Danbury so Hyacinth did the next best thing and turn her wedding into profit 🤩🤩🤩. Ginny was impressed by how many internet strangers were sending Hyacinth and Gareth money to film her wedding after she told all her followers that her wedding was going to be a private affair. Well joke is on St Clair senior because the bank Hyacinth's TikToks made with Gareth, actually covered all of the wedding expenses. And After that they just decided to become full time content creators. Last Ginny heard of Hyacinth and Gareth they had a great TikTok and YouTube variety channel
And that's more or less the backstory of this au

The Lily Ball
Inspired by @thekatebriderton post found here:
and my own post about the Bridgertons practicing arranged marriages found here:
For those following into the colinverse, this is baby Colin's universe!
-
Fifteen year old Simon watched as the countryside rolled by the window. Normally when Eton would give a break to their pupils he would stay in his dorm, much preferring that than going back to his father's properties. But when your aunt is Lady Agatha Danbury, and she tells you go somewhere because you were invited as her plus one to a country house party you go. So now Simon found himself sharing a carriage with a fifteen year old Anthony and a thirteen year old Benedict Bridgerton as they made their way to Aubrey Hall.
"Thank you for allowing me to join you," Simon said, slowing his words so his stutter doesn't take over.
"Don't thank us yet," Anthony warned. "Mother and Father are probably trying to see if they can match you to any of my sisters."
"Do you really think Father and Mother will try to find another match during this break?" Benedict asked.
Anthony snorted. "They will not rest until every single one of us is paired off."
Ah yes, the famous Bridgerton arranged love matches. The family practices arranged marriages but every single one ends up turning into a love match. Every matchmaking mama wants their child to be one of the lucky ones, but no one was quite sure what the Bridgertons were looking for when making those matches. They were not afraid to bypass heirs for second or third sons, they did not care if your family was old money or new money. Simon has heard stories of one cousin who was arranged with a privateer, and another a medical doctor.
Of the current Bridgertons though Simon believed he remembered Anthony saying that only two of the six were matched up. Anthony being one of those two, the other was a third daughter?
"Not our third sister," Anthony corrected. "Our brother Colin is matched to a third daughter."
Benedict let out a laugh. "That he matched himself to."
Before Simon could ask what the brothers meant the carriage stopped.
"Well here we are."
The boys were met with two couples and Simon's aunt. The boys greeted the hosts first, Viscount Edmund Bridgerton and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton first, before turning to the second couple. Simon would later learn this is Mr. Miles Sharma and his wife Lady Mary Sharma aka Anthony's future in-laws. Finally Lady Danbury demanded their attention before they were sent off to the playroom where the other children were.
In the playroom was one other boy around eight stuffing biscuits in his mouth and five girls ranging from ages ten to two.
Anthony walked over to the ten year old girl, giving her a mock polite bow, while she rolled her eyes. The little three year old girl next to them laughed.
Benedict leaned closer to Simon. "That's Kate Sharma."
"Anthony's fiancé?" Simon asked.
Benedict nodded. "The only girl I have ever seen out stubborn Anthony. Colin, the one who is currently stuffing his face with biscuits, and I are betting how long until they start arguing. The little girl by them is Edwina, Kate's sister."
"And the rest?" Simon asked. He could guess what their names start with, D, E and F, the Bridgertons famously named their children in alphabetical order, but that was about it.
Benedict pointed to the seven year old, the three year old, and the two year old. "Daphne, Eloise, and Francesca."
Daphne looked excited to see her brothers. "Yay! We were about to play house!"
Benedict and Colin let out a groan, but one look from Anthony had them quiet.
"I will be the Mama." Daphne pointed to Anthony and Kate. "You two will be the aunt and uncle. Edwina will be your child."
Daphne whipped back around to Simon. "You will be my husband, Eloise and Francesca will be our daughters."
Simon nodded, feeling like it was better and safer to play along rather than deny the eldest Bridgerton daughter.
"And Colin will be our son and Benedict will be the butler!"
"What!" Colin exclaimed. "We did not agree to play house!"
"Relax Colin," Benedict said. "We're older than Daphne, we don't have to listen to her."
Daphne huffed but then looked up at Simon. "How old are you?"
"Fifteen?" Simon said, though it sounded more like a question.
Daphne smiled a smug smile. "Ha! Simon is older than both of you! You have to listen to him!"
Benedict and Colin let out another groan.
"Just play for a little bit," Anthony ordered.
Daphne grabbed Simon's hand. "Come husband, we must get our children ready for the ball."
"O-okay," Simon stuttered. He winced. He'll have to be more careful the rest of this trip. Though to be fair he was not prepared for someone like Daphne Bridgerton.
The children spent a good hour "preparing for the ball." This included actually decorating the room to an agreed theme between Kate and Daphne. Simon could't tell you what the theme was but if he had to guess it was something to do with flowers. They kept Benedict busy by having him running around between the two pretend families.
This left Anthony and Simon in charge of their "children." Anthony easily took to it, fixing Edwina's little misplaced hairs. Simon had a little bit more trouble.
Simon awkwardly shuffled as Colin, Eloise, and Francesca all stared up at him. Finally Eloise broke the silence.
"Papa aren't you going to help us get ready?"
Simon had to stop himself from falling over. Papa!? Where-what?
Edwina's giggle broke Simon out of his thoughts. The little girl was hugging Anthony. "Thank you papa!"
Oh right, they are playing pretend house, and Simon is their pretend papa.
"O-of co-course," Simon said.
He started with Colin and fixing his cravat, wiping off the crumbs. Then Simon straightened out Francesca's leading strings so she would not trip over them. Eloise was the biggest challenge as she had somehow had half her hair out from the ribbon it was previously in two seconds ago.
"Let me help husband," Daphne said, coming back over to their pretend family.
Daphne had taken Eloise's hair completely out of the ribbon, redoing into a braid that is somehow both neat and messy in a way only a child's hands could produce, and then tie it off with Simon's help.
"Thank you Mama, thank you Papa," Eloise said.
The little family of five then began their walk to the ball across the room where Anthony and Kate stood waiting for them.
Anthony and Kate both bowed their heads. "Thank you for coming to the Lily/Tulip Ball."
Kate turned to glare at Anthony. "It is the Lily Ball Anthony!"
Oh so that's what they're supposed to be. Simon would have guessed daffodils.
Anthony looked around at the decorations around the room. "That is not a lily Kate, it's a tulip."
Kate glared, clearly offended. "Anthony Bridgerton! Do you not know your flowers? Do you need spectacles?"
Now Anthony was glaring down at Kate. Which was funny sight since Kate was at least a good foot shorter than him still. He was about to say something else when Daphne interrupted.
"Thank you for inviting us to the ball, Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton. It all looks lovely."
Colin shot Benedict a triumph look. Guess Simon knew who won the bet.
"Enjoy yourself . . . um" Kate paused. Anthony leaned down to whisper something in Kate's ear, who nodded in understanding. "Duke and Duchess Basset."
Well at least they didn't use Hastings.
During their pretend ball somehow more treats appeared for them to snack on, and the nanny that Simon had not noticed before started playing the pianoforte for them so they could dance. Benedict was promoted from butler to suitor so they would have more people to dance with.
At one point Colin looked over at the door and his face lit up. "Pen!"
This caused everyone else to look over. In the doorway was four more children ranging from ages eight, five, and three, and their nannies.
Colin rushed over to greet who Simon thought was his fiancé. Colin surprised him when he scooped up the three year old red head in his arms instead of the blonde five year old.
"She's Pen?" Simon whispered to Anthony.
Anthony nodded. "Penelope Featherington. Colin's been claiming she's his since the girl was practically born, practically matched himself to her."
"Does he know what that means?" Simon asked.
Anthony shrugged. "Not sure, but Mother and Father found it suitable enough to officially match them. They'll have the longest match out of any of us."
Kate and Daphne went to greet the other children in the doorway, and then proceeded to pull them into their game of pretend as other guests to the ball.
Kate announced them in age order. "Arriving is Lord Michael Stirling, Lord Phillip Crane, Lady Sophie Beckett, and Lady Penelope Featherington."
Colin immediately swept Penelope away over to the food. The little girl giggled the way young children do.
Eloise looked ready to follow them when her eyes narrowed in on the book in Phillip's hands. From what Simon could tell it was a children's book to help them start reading.
Eloise pointed at the book. "Can you read?" Eloise questioned.
Phillip nodded, hugging the book closer.
Eloise grabbed one of Phillip's arms, attempting to drag him over to one of the sofas pushed back to make the dance floor. "Read to me!"
Phillip obedintly followed. Opening the book his words were slow, but confident. Eloise followed along by pointing at the words, and sounding a few of the letters with Phillip.
Another song started up and Simon glanced back at the dance floor to see Benedict had offered to dance with Sophie. She looked so excited just by the simple dance, and the steps Benedict was teaching her.
"This is so much fun!" Sophie giggled. "Much more fun than at home!"
"I'm glad you're having fun Lady Beckett," Benedict said, setting Sophie off in another round of giggles.
"Oh my," Daphne gasped, now back at Simon's side.
Simon looked in the same direction as Daphne, and he also watched curious.
Francesca had toddled over to Michael, her eyes wide in wonder. She gripped onto his coat sleeve as Michael got down on his knees to be at eye level with her.
"Hello Princess," Michael said.
Francesca stared at Michael a bit longer before exclaiming, "Mine!"
Simon had to hide laugh at Anthony's jaw drop at his youngest sister's declaration. Daphne was laughing too before dragging Simon to the makeshift dance floor to avoid Anthony's outrage.
Edmund and Violet Bridgerton watched their children from the doorway. The Lily Ball as the children had decided to call it was coming to a close with one final dance.
"I believe we may have found matches for our other children," Violet whispered.
"I believe you are right my dear," Edmund whispered back. "I shall speak to their parents after dinner tonight."

On your Strictly AU… Kai and Angela are giving me Violet and Michael vibes.
Imagine a year or two after Anthony does is when Sophie and Kate are on maternity leave Violet is approached to take part and gets partnered with none other than Michael Stirling!
Anthony and Benedict completely scandalised at the high kicks and seeing their mother being tossed around whilst Kate and Sophie are giving her helpful tips and Frannie is just 😍 wanting to get to know her mothers dance partner!
Omfg yes!!!!
While Anthony is competing Violet loves being in the audience to support her son though she comes to realise that a part of her also envies him, wishing she could have the chance to be taught such technical dances by championship dancers. Whenever she came to visit him during rehearsals or when he came over for dinner she would eagerly pester him to teach her some steps just to get a taster of what it must be like to do a ballroom dance. Naturally she was thrilled to see her son win the Glitterball trophy and she was even more excited when she found out that not only was Anthony dating Kate, but that Benedict was seeing his brother's dance partner Sophie; and of course whenever her sons' girlfriends were round she'd eagerly pick their brains about everything dance related and they were always more than happy to teach her a few dance combinations.
Several years later Violet's agent called her up to give her the news she had always hoped to receive; the BBC had offered her the chance to be a contestant on the show. She said "yes" in a heartbeat and she was fizzing with excitement to share the news with her kids. She was quite dismayed when the reaction she received wasn't as supportive as she imagined, with Colin and Eloise quipping a few jokes at her expense and her eldest sons doubting whether she was up to par to be on the show. Thankfully her daughters-in-law were her saving grace as they hyped her up and vowed to be there for her day and night should she ever want to get some advice or help with her dancing.
Cut to the launch show where the pairings for which contestant will be paired up with which professional are revealed and much to Violet's delight - and her children's shock and horror - she gets paired with the newest pro; Michael Stirling. She is the envy of all the other contestants and viewing audience alike as the ridiculously sexy Scotsman proves to be an instant charmer and wins over just about every person he meets - well, almost everyone.
Of course Anthony and Benedict are the most scandalised especially after seeing Michael Stirling stretch their mother's leg this high;
Tumblr media
"What a traumatising way to find out mum's that flexible."
But what would additionally be a funny aspect to Violet's participation is if Edmund is still alive and well - and positively terrified that the Strictly curse might strike his blissfully happy marriage. He had never wavered in his love for Violet and he had always been secure in himself to never doubt the strength of their marriage; but Michael Stirling's sudden presence in his life unnerved him. Considering he had watched his wife act opposite many other good-looking actors brimming with charisma, there was just something about the young Scotsman that got under his skin. He had youth on his side, was ridiculously handsome, had an irresistible grin that made every hot-blooded woman swoon, and there was a permanent flirtatious tone whenever he opened his mouth; how could anyone possibly turn down his advances?
Of course he'd try his best to ignore his own insecurities as best he could and put Violet first, being her biggest fan and sitting in the audience every week to support her. However it didn't help that the tabloids had done a deep-dive into his wife's dance partner's prolific Casanova past with various ex-lovers selling their stories about how Michael had seduced them. He had reportedly slept with married women, several women his senior, and had allegedly even once had dalliances with Kate and Sophie; which wasn't true in the slightest as Edmund's daughters-in-law laughed the claims off and stated that Michael was just a flirty friend - not that it stopped Anthony and Benedict from suffering from near-breakdowns at the thought of Michael having gone anywhere near their wives. There were even fans online who seemed to be legitimately shipping his wife with her professional dancer, and it was difficult for Edmund to ignore what seemed to be the world trying to signal that his marriage was doomed.
Then one day Violet invited Michael over for dinner to celebrate getting through to Blackpool week and Edmund truly felt as if he was being tested as he plastered a genial smile on his face throughout the meal. Anthony and Benedict were equally peeved to be in Michael's presence as the dancer occupied their mother and wives attention, something which Colin found quite amusing until Michael kept stealing Penelope's attention away from him and constantly kept making her giggle much to his chagrin. Unbeknownst to the men, the reason why Violet had invited Michael over was actually to set him up with Francesca, who had expressed interest to her mother after visiting them during rehearsals. Violet had noticed Michael took an instant shine to her daughter and ever since he had always asked after her in particular more than any of her other children, and she was hopeful that they would make a perfect match.
As Violet progressed further in the competition, Edmund became fearful that the more hours she was putting in had nothing to do with training but that she had succumbed to Michael Stirling's charm and had begun an affair with him. He tried not to let it get to him but one day while Francesca was round his irrational thinking got the best of him and he blurted out his suspicions that he thought Violet was sleeping with Michael. He was outraged when Francesca cracked up laughing and he began having a go at her for not taking him seriously and went on and on about how he was sure his wife was cheating on him.
"Oh for god's sake, dad! Mum's not sleeping with Michael!"
"And how can you be so sure?!"
"Because I'm sleeping with Michael!"
At which point Edmund fell silent, dumbfounded as to how to respond since the possibility that Michael was sleeping with his daughter and not his wife had never crossed his mind. After a very long five minutes of shocked silence Edmund cleared his throat and asked whether or not it was serious between them, to which Francesca informed him that she had spent every night of the last few weeks with Michael. Edmund nodded in acknowledgement as he now tried to wrap around his head around the possibility that Michael Stirling, rather than being a threat to his marriage, could very well end up being his future son-in-law instead.
Eventually much to her overwhelming joy Violet ends up winning the show with Michael and despite his misguided paranoia, Edmund couldn't be prouder of his wife. He also warms up to Michael when he sees just how besotted he is with Francesca, and especially after Michael offers to teach him the foxtrot to surprise Violet with for their upcoming wedding anniversary.

there are polins out there claiming rmb is the kinkiest bridgerton book when none of them are particularly kinky
I have actually only read AOFAG but from what I've heard Franchel's book is the wildest re. sex scenes, etc so I'm not sure what crack they're on.
