Gammon lashing, or gammoning

This refers to seven or eight turns of rope that were passed alternately over the bowsprit and through a hole in the stem of a sailing ship to secure the bowsprit to the knightshead

The Shtandart

(the name given to two large timbers, one on each side of the stem of a wooden ship, that rose above the deck and supported the heel of the bowsprit between them. In older wooden merchant ships, the name was also frequently given to the two timber frames abaft the foremast which supported the ends of the windlasses. In some smaller vessels the knightheads of the bowsprit were also called bitts, as with no space for separate bitts to be fixed to the deck, the anchor cable was brought to the knightheads for securing.)

HMS Bounty

Good gammoning was a feat of craftsmanship and, if done correctly, resulted in a cross lashing. Later, a gammon iron replaced the old gammon lashing.

Hair Headcanons Because Why Not (mainly Grath arc because I am biased as fuck)

-Nemesis's hair is perpetually matted. At first it was just because she was a feral child living in the woods, but now she's just too scared to run a brush through it

-Court's hair is made of like. Thread instead of actual hair, and it drives her crazy because she's so used to having actual human hair that she can't get used to the feeling

-After Sloth Arc, Rin Chan ends up dying her hair a bunch of different colors. She ends up settling on red hair, but her bathroom is completely stocked with hair dye just in case she changes her mind.

-Gallerian's hair is like. Super super curly, so he has to be careful to cut it at just the right length so that it's still manageable (read: doesn't require him to take a step away from his work to shower every other day) but doesn't look like broccoli.

-Nemesis also inherited this hair. Not that anyone can really tell, given the fact her hair is a perpetual hot mess, but she knows and she absolutely hates it.

-Before Nyoze got arrested and everything went to shit, the only real way to differentiate between him and Gammon if you didn't know them was their hair. Because Nyoze had like shoulder length hair, meanwhile Gammon perpetually looked like he was a more depressed version of Rapunzel.

-Gumina's hair is lighter than the other two Gumis because it got bleached to hell and back when she was a kid and it just sort of. Stayed that color.

-Mikulia's pigtails were originally Eve's idea because she thought it'd be fun if they had matching hair (she did forget to mention that to Mikulia, who was very confused why Demon Mikulia was so excited about the idea of pigtails)

-Clarith has like really, really nice hair. Like it grows quickly, its not thin, and it pretty much never gets tangled.

-Nyoze is the only one to ever brush Nemesis's hair in the history of ever, and also the only reason she actually knows what her hair looks like when it's not completely matted.

-Riliane cut her own hair once as a child, because she thought it would be fun. As for how it turned out...well, there's a reason why Riliane is not a hairdresser

-Michelle also tried to do this, but immediately started crying after cutting one strand.
