Tell Me Sweet Little Lies Part 24

The next morning, he and Robin drape themselves over a pair of pool chairs to get their lounge on while Steve works on getting the pool in good enough shape for their upcoming party.

It means watching Steve in nothing but a t-shirt and a pair of cut off shorts, so Eddie's very on board.

Robin scoffs next to him. "I am so glad you got your shit together so I don't have to tiptoe around you drooling right now."

"I'm not drooling!" Eddie insists, though he does wipe his hand over his mouth just to check.

No drool.

"Metaphorically," Robin clarifies, grinning at him. "By all means, oogle away. Just know Steve's probably showing off a little on purpose."

Eddie squints at him, and sure enough - there's probably no need for Steve to be lifting things that often.

"I hate that it's working," Eddie grumbles.

"Of course it's working." Robin rolls her eyes.

Right, of course it is. Eddie's always known that Steve was very attractive - it used to irritate the hell out of him, that he was susceptible to the same allure as the rest of the masses of Hawkins High. The fact that he thought Steve was a douche used to counter it, but, well.

Now he's pretty much in love with the guy.

Eddie leans forward a little, fiddling with some blades of grass by his chair. "Steve's, uh. It's true, right, that he's had a lot of sex with a lot of girls?"

Robin nods. "It's true. He was in a slump when I first met him, but before - well, before you, he was complaining about all his meaningless relationships that were just about sex when he wanted a real connection."

That's… Eddie doesn't know exactly what that is, actually, or how he feels about it. He thinks it should be weird, talking about this when they're both dating Steve, but - it doesn't feel weird, not really. "That doesn't bother you?"

"Does it bother me that he's been with more girls than I can count before I even got my first kiss? Not really. I mean, sure, I guess a little, in an ugh why is it so easy for him and so hard for me, but, you know. We both had our different ways of finding our other soulmate. Apparently neither of them were successful, since the Upside Down brought you to Steve, and I'm still striking out." She pauses, then adds, "Plus he's like really good at eating girls out, so I'm not going to complain about getting to benefit from him demonstrating his technique."

He takes it back, it's weird and uncomfortable and that was way too much information about their sex life.

Whatever face he's making gets her to laugh at him, eyes crinkling.

"Don't worry, it probably translates over decently well. Besides, I've seen him practically deep throat a banana so you're probably good. Oh, has he gotten to do that thing with his tongue yet?"

Eddie squeaks. He's pretty sure his face is bright red, considering how much it's burning, and Robin's laughter turns into a cackle.

Steve overhears the laughter and turns towards them, hip cocked as he squints at them.

"What's so funny?" he calls.

"Just asking Eddie if he's gotten to experience your tongue skills yet!" she calls back.

"Robin!" Steve yelps, dropping the pool net to come over to them.

"What?" she asks. "Weren't you the one who was whining at me about how you wanted to choke on his dick and then eat him out until he cried?"

The blood that had been flooding his cheeks immediately rushes south, and Eddie has to lean over to adjust his pants and try to make that less obvious.

Yes, please, sign him up for all of that.

"In confidence! I told you that in confidence!" Steve sputters.

Eddie leans back, tipping his head up at Steve with a slow smirk. "I'm feeling a little hurt, here, Harrington, how come I haven't gotten a fruit demonstration?"

Steve gapes at him for a moment, just long enough for Eddie to start to regain his footing.

Then Steve's eyes narrow.

"If I was demonstrating for you, Munson, it wouldn't be on fruit," he replies.

Steve turns his back on them and returns to the pool, leaving Eddie to make a protesting noise - that is not a whine, no matter how much he can read that in Robin's eyes while she laughs at him.

"Do I need to shove you in the pool to cool you off?" she teases.

"Shut up," he mutters, adjusting himself again.

Then he tips his head back and closes his eyes, because if he looks at Steve again in the next fifteen minutes or so, he might need to take Robin up on that.

They eat lunch all jammed together on the couch, plates balanced on their laps. Steve's eating with his left hand, because his right hand is holding Eddie's left. Their fingers are laced together, and Steve refuses to let go, and Eddie's pretty sure his cheeks are flushed red, but he's really not going to complain about it.

There's a little bit of sauce on the corner of Steve's lip, and ridiculously, it makes Eddie want to lean in to lick it off.

Fuck, he really wants to kiss him. Is he allowed to kiss him, is that weird? Steve and Robin haven't kissed in front of him, but Eddie kind of figures that's because they knew he had hang ups about the sharing thing.

Ugh, if he wants kissing Steve when they're like this to be on the table, it's probably going to be on him to talk about it.

Eddie clears his throat. "Hey, uh," he starts, but has no idea where to go after that.

Robin makes a little encouraging noise.

"I appreciate you guys holding back on the PDA around me while I figured all this out, but you don't have to anymore," he says.

Steve's eyebrows raise. He looks down, where Robin's toes are shoved under his thigh and he'd been in the middle of eating the olives off of her plate. "I hate to break it to you, Eds, but we haven't been holding back all that much."

"Well, yeah, not for that, but-" Eddie pauses, switching to come at this from another angle. "Not a lot of people know about me. And I'm guessing - not a lot know about Steve?"

Steve nods when Eddie looks at him for confirmation. "Just Robin and you, and Max and Lucas."

Eddie smiles a little. "Same, but Uncle Wayne knows about me."

"Just you and Steve, Max and Lucas for me," Robin adds, which -

Eddie hadn't known that, actually, but it makes him smile brightly at her. It makes it even better, knowing that Robin's in the same boat as him and Steve - that she gets it. "You're the only one who knows about me and Steve, and me and Steve. I don't know how you feel about telling the others who know?"

Steve considers that. "I feel okay," he says finally. "But if we tell Lucas and Max, we have to tell the rest of the party. It's not fair to have them keep that secret."

Eddie doesn't disagree, but - "Table that for now, then. So yeah, just you. And I'd really, really like to just kiss Steve without thinking about it when it's just the three of us, so it'd be really shitty of me if I told you not to."

There's a moment of silence as Robin and Steve look at each other with near identical expressions of confusion.

"Eddie," Robin says after a moment. "I like girls."

Eddie frowns. He thought they just covered that. "Yeah?"

"Only girls," she clarifies.

What.

"But Steve-" he starts.

"Is not a girl," Robin finishes.

"Definitely not a girl," Steve adds.

"Wait, so you - so you're not -" Eddie stammers.

Jesus fucking Christ.

"Oh my God, Eddie, have you thought we were dating this whole time?" Robin shrieks.

"Yes! Of course I did! Look at you!" Eddie gestures at them.

"You said you told him!" Steve hisses at Robin.

"I did!" Robin protests.

"I think I would have remembered that!" Eddie counters.

"We were sitting in the kitchen! I told you that Steve has two soulmates, a platonic," she gestures at herself, the motion just as exaggerated as the word. "And a romantic!" She gestures at Eddie this time.

Eddie closes his eyes, fights the urge to just keep repeating Jesus Christ, and opens them again. "Buckley. I wasn't looking at you while we were talking."

"You weren't - well that's just rude, Munson! What were you so busy staring at that you couldn't pay attention to me in the very important discussion we were having?" Robin demands.

Eddie's eyes cut to Steve.

Her gaze must follow his, because she groans. "Of course you were looking at Steve. See, look at that, another person ignoring me because they're obsessed with you."

Eddie squawks. "I wasn't obsessed with-"

His jaw snaps shut as he realizes that might not be a lie.

Shit.

Steve grins at him, looking just a little bit too smug. "It's okay," he says. "I'm kind of obsessed with you, too."

Robin groans, face planting onto Steve's shoulder. "How did we miss this?"

"I thought we were being so mature," Steve agrees. "So open and communicative."

"In my defense, you two did shower together," Eddie points out.

"Not like that!" Robin says.

"How do you shower together but not like that?" Eddie demands.

Steve shrugs. "The same way you wash someone's hair but not like that?"

Eddie makes a face at him. "Yeah, that doesn't count, I wanted to jump you the whole time."

Steve opens his mouth, then closes it again. "Yeah, okay, me too," he admits. "You kept making these little sounds, I just-"

Eddie waggles his eyebrows. "Keep going, Stevie, you just what?"

"Get sidetracked later," Robin cuts in. "The point is - technically, Steve showered while I was brushing my teeth, and I showered while he was doing his hair care routine. We're soulmates, it's not like it matters what we see."

"But - there was giggling, and smacking, and - other noises," Eddie protests, but it's a weak one now.

Steve shrugs. "My back was all fucked up, man, you know that. Rob was helping me with the bandages."

"And Steve was doing his stupid shower characters," Robin adds, rolling her eyes. "He makes himself a dumb beard out of shaving cream or a stupid hairstyle out of shampoo and does terrible voices, and it's awful and I don't hate it at all."

Eddie - Eddie can imagine that perfectly, actually, and fuck, something so stupid shouldn't make him want so badly, but there it is.

"Stop," he whines. "I'm already in love with you, stop making it worse."

Both Steve and Robin freeze, but it still takes him a moment to realize what he just said.

Oh shit.

Eddie swallows, building up his courage for a moment before he sneaks a look at Steve.

Steve's looking back, just a little bit awestruck. "You love me?"

Eddie can't pull his hand free to fidget with his wrist brace, so he plays with Steve's fingers instead. "Well, yeah. I kind of thought that was obvious."

Then again, apparently some things all three of them thought were obvious were very much not obvious, and he grimaces.

"Yeah," he says. "I really do."

Robin kicks Steve in the thigh, leaning over and snatching their plates out of their laps. "Upstairs, now," she informs them. "I know that look, Steve, and if you're going to make out with him you're not doing it sitting next to me on the couch."

"Upstairs?" Steve asks, and who the hell is Eddie to say no to that?

"Just remember you're supposed to pick Dustin up for patrol in half an hour!" Robin yells up after them. "And I will not be stalling if he walkies asking what's taking you so long!"

"Guess we shouldn't waste any time." Eddie turns to Steve with a smirk, one eyebrow raised, only to find himself pinned to the wall in the upstairs hallway.

Steve crowds in against him, kissing him in short little bursts, like he keeps trying to pull back to say something but can't make himself stop for long.

Eddie doesn't make it easy for him to pull away, chasing him every time he does to kiss him again. He drags his teeth along Steve's bottom lip the next time he pulls back, but this time, Steve actually does stop long enough to speak.

"I love you, too," he pants out against Eddie's lips, the words muffled by how close they are together.

And Eddie - yeah, part of him had known. Like he told Uncle Wayne, it was obvious that Steve cared about him, and it was just as obvious that Steve was really into him.

But mostly knowing about it and hearing it confirmed are two different things, and Eddie surges forward to kiss him again.

Steve presses him back against the wall, one thigh wedged between Eddie's legs - still in those cut off shorts, and if Eddie could bring himself to break the kiss long enough to look down, he's pretty sure he'd get more than a flash of hairy skin. Eddie groans, rolling his hips up so he can at least grind against his thigh.

"Yeah?" Steve asks, before his tongue slides into his mouth at the same time his thigh presses up and up, giving Eddie more friction to rut against.

Which he immediately takes advantage of, grabbing Steve's ass with both hands and holding on as they rock together.

"Wanna make you feel good," Steve says, dropping little biting kisses along the line of Eddie's jaw. "Want you to tell me everything you like."

Eddie huffs out a shaky little laugh. "I, uh. I've never done this before, Stevie."

Steve tips his head back to look at him, brows furrowed for a moment before he seems to get that Eddie means, like, ever.

Despite the fact that he's mostly sure Steve isn't going to make fun of him, his stomach still drops when Steve groans and drops his head down into Eddie's shoulder.

"Steve?" Eddie asks.

"We gotta stop," Steve replies, muffled. "We've only got like twenty minutes left now, and that's really not enough for everything I want to do with you."

Eddie's dick throbs where it's still pressed against Steve's thigh. "It's enough for something, though, come on."

Steve pulls back to look at him. "Eds, your first time is not going to be a quickie in our hallway with Robin downstairs and Dustin waiting on me."

Eddie considers that, then rolls his hips up again, grinning smugly when it makes Steve inhale sharply. "Yeah, I'm pretty okay with that for my first mutual orgasm experience."

Steve makes a face at him, the impact of which is a little ruined by his slightly glazed eyes. "I'm not."

Eddie grunts. "I'm not a girl," he manages to growl out.

Steve looks down between them, where Eddie's still very hard and very pressed into him. "I noticed."

"Then don't treat me like some delicate little virgin," Eddie snaps.

Steve huffs. "It's not like that, it's - fine, why did you tell me, then?"

"What?" Eddie asks, thrown.

"If it's not a big deal, why did you say anything?"

"I… I don't know," Eddie admits. "I just - thought you should be aware, I guess, in case you were expecting something else."

Someone who knew what they were doing.

"Eds," Steve breathes out, tipping his head in to kiss him again. "I'm not expecting anything but you, I promise. Just you, that's all I want."

"That's all?" Eddie asks, and he means it to be teasing, but it comes out a little shaky.

"I want - look, I know it's crap about virginity being special and your first time being perfect and all that, but… it's also not crap."

Eddie raises an eyebrow.

"It's - it should be good, Eddie. You deserve to have something go right. I want to take my time with you, not be thinking about how we have to rush."

Well when Steve puts it like that.

"You're such a romantic," Eddie teases.

Steve's ears go a little pink, but he shrugs. "Yeah, I guess I kind of am."

Eddie pulls him back in for another kiss. "I love you," he whispers against his lips, part because he does and part just to see if he can get Steve all riled up again.

"Not fair," Steve mutters back.

Eddie can't help but laugh a little. "It work?"

"Yes." Steve kisses him again. "But it didn't change my mind."

He steps back, though Eddie's pleased to note that he looks both rumpled and reluctant. Eddie sighs, then reaches out to fix Steve's collar, run his fingers through his hair. Steve does the same for him, and it feels -

Well, pretty fucking good, actually.

They head back downstairs. Robin cheers for them, shouting, "Three minutes to spare!"

Steve rolls his eyes, leans over to kiss the top of her head.

Then he drags Eddie to the front door with him so they can kiss again, long and lingering, before Steve finally heads back out.

Eddie drifts back into the living room to sit down next to Robin again, trying not to look too dazed.

She huffs at him, and it's only then that he realizes this is the first time they've been alone since she told him she was coming back for him.

"You still pissed at me?"

Robin rolls her eyes. "No, you fixed that last night. For the record - it wasn't at you, not really. Steve was miserable, which gets my hackles up. I know, he said he was happy no matter what, but I know him. He would have been hung up on you for ages. Plus, the boy likes sex," she adds matter-of-factly. "It would have been awful dealing with him pining and all pent up from not getting laid."

Eddie snorts.

"What?" Robin asks.

"Nothing," Eddie replies. "Just - I'm really glad we don't have to work out a schedule for both of us having sex with him."

Robin lets out a sound that's some unholy mix between a giggle and a shriek. "Okay, first, thanks for putting that mental image in my brain, I need at least three shots later tonight to get that out. Second - oh my god we would run him ragged, he's pretty insatiable but I'm not sure even he could keep up with the two of us."

Eddie cackles, head tipping back in a laughter there's no way he can contain. "I really love you, Robbie," he says quietly when he's managed to calm down.

Her eyes are soft as she looks at him. "Yeah," she says. "I do, too."

"I can't promise that I won't ever hurt him," he says. "Because, you know, sometimes I get up in my head about stuff, and sometimes I miss things. But I love him. It's always going to be him. I won't - I won't ever leave him, or give up on us."

Robin's quiet for a long time. "You and I aren't really soulmates, you know. I can't tell if you just lied to me."

Eddie knows what his knee-jerk reaction to that is. But he sits with it for a moment, breathes in and breathes out, and then decides knee-jerk was the right reaction. "Yeah, you can."

Robin smiles at him, reaching out to tug on a lock of his hair. "Yeah, I can," she agrees.

He opens his arms, and she hugs him, then shoves him off.

"Come on, Steve left us to do the lunch dishes."

Steve brings home pizza for dinner when he gets done with patrolling.

"Hey, I was thinking - do you want to head out to Forest Hills when we're done?" Steve asks while they eat. "There's not really anyone there anymore, we could see if there's anything left of yours you want to get."

Eddie considers that. Part of him isn't sure he wants to go back there, ever, but the other part kind of feels like he needs to see it. To make it real again, and not just a thing in his nightmares.

So he agrees, and they head out after they clean up dinner - Robin refuses to get stuck with it this time.

It still feels strange, driving around in the front seat of Steve's Bimmer, but mostly a nice strange. They don't pass many cars on the way out there, and Steve's got Trooper's Thick as Thieves album playing quietly, and Eddie can just lean back and alternate looking out the window with looking at the beautiful boy in the driver's seat.

Steve pulls a couple of empty boxes out of the trunk when they get there, and Eddie sees him hesitate over the nail bat that's still in there from his patrol earlier.

"Here," Eddie says, taking the boxes so Steve can grab the bat.

There hasn't been any sign of Vecna or the Upside Down on their patrols yet, but Eddie's pretty sure they'll both feel better if Steve's carrying it.

The trailer is barely holding together, a huge chunk ripped out of the living room, and Eddie swallows back a surge of tears.

He knows they have insurance, knows what Uncle Wayne said about the stuff in the trailer, but - it was the first place that ever really felt like home to Eddie. Even though the home was more about Uncle Wayne himself than the physical trailer, it hurts seeing it like this.

"Hey," Steve says softly. "We don't have to do this tonight, we can wait."

We.

Like it's just a guarantee that whenever Eddie does decide to look through the shattered remains of his life, Steve will be right there with him. No question.

It shouldn't be, but it's still a little bit of a surprise to realize that Eddie believes it.

"No," he says, though he does lean in for a kiss. "I want to get this over with. Come on, let's look in my room."

His room isn't as bad as the living room, but it's still pretty trashed. He gets to work rifling through the debris while Steve hangs out in the doorway, nailbat on one shoulder and keeping an eye on the dormant but still not closed gate in the living room.

Eventually, Eddie manages to find about a couple of boxes worth of clothes, most of his jewelry, some D&D things, a few other odds and ends. It's not a lot, but it's more than Eddie thought he might have, which lifts his spirits a little.

"I can stop borrowing your clothes all the time," Eddie tells Steve.

Steve makes a face like he's trying not to say anything.

"What?" Eddie asks.

"…I kind of like you in my clothes," Steve admits.

Eddie barks out a little laugh, then sets down his box so he can sidle into Steve's space. "Oh yeah?" he asks, cocking one eyebrow. "You want me to wear your letterman jacket?"

Steve tips his head, which Eddie is pretty damn sure means yes, but I don't want to say it.

"Steve Harrington," Eddie teases as he hooks his fingers in the waistband of Steve's jeans and gives it a tug. "You wanna be my boyfriend?"

"I'm your soulmate," Steve replies, rolling his eyes, but he doesn't stop himself from being reeled in.

"You wanna be my boyfriend," Eddie repeats, voice sing song, and steals another kiss.

"You were the one who said you wanted the full Steve Harrington experience," Steve teases back.

"I was joking!" Eddie replies, but he realized the moment he says it that - well, no, he kind of wasn't.

Steve grins widely at him. "No, you weren't," he retorts, with all the confidence of someone who's just felt a new lie being written on them.

Eddie raises his eyebrows at him. "So what are you going to do about it, then?"

Steve leans in to kiss him one more time. "Come on. Let's get out of here first."

And, well, all right, Eddie can't exactly protest that.

He picks up two boxes, leaving Steve to grab the third and his bat, then the two of them head back out of the trailer.

They're not too far from what's left of the front door when the sound of footsteps crunches on the gravel nearby.

It's probably just one of the handful of folks too stubborn to leave Forest Hills, but - it's dark, and Eddie can't see anyone, and he can't help the rush of panic that he feels. It must hit Steve the same way, because when he turns back to look at him, he sees that Steve has gone still, head tilted like he's listening.

The sound of a gun cocking rings out far louder than it should.

"Don't move," Jason Carver says.

What do you think Cass would be like as a kid? I've been playing with Cass adopted early aus lately. I've been imagining her as like her 17 year old self but less serious.

The Cass fics I recently recced match what I think pretty well.

I'm not sure if I'd consider her less serious. Less aware, maybe?

The factor I've childhood I think is most important here is how kids think their experiences are normal. It takes a lot of observing the world and perspective taking to recognize how some of the fundamentals of our lives are actually really abnormal.

When we meet Cass, she's angry. Hates both herself and Cain. She's recognized what he did to her is wrong. The pain of watching someone die at her hands has festered for long enough to leave an abscess in her soul.

I think a younger Cass might not be as angry. The hurt is still hurt. She knows what happened was wrong, but hasn't really internalized that it was a unique wrong that few other people have had to experience. She probably wouldn't think that people getting turned into weapons was universal, but it would be a frustrating fact of life. Killing someone was probably something a lot of kids were asked to do, and maybe they were smart enough to do the right thing.

I think she'd be happier, because the self-blame hasn't burrowed as deep, yet. But, in some ways, I think she'd be even more serious. Training was her entire world for so long! She had to learn how to have fun, after. To take time for herself. Her sense of humour feels like it was built on top of the despair, a sign of her strength and recovery, rather than a bit of her previous self peeking through. (Not that she HAS a previous self.)

I think there would also be a LOT more fear. Her self-assurance is based on her experience of being able to handle anyone except Cain. As an eight year old, Cain was a lot bigger percentage of 'anyone' than he is at 16! (Ie. Cain was 25% of her spars when she was 8, and could drag her out of other spars at any time. At 16, she's built up another 8 years of non-Cain conflicts where she's been able to stop anything she doesn't like.) She also didn't know how few Cains there were when she was 8. Anyone might want to turn her into a weapon. Anyone might have his level of skill.

But she'd also have a much easier time learning to work with others. 8 years of taking care of yourself changes someone. 8 years of learning that no one can do the things you do, that everyone needs protecting. I don't think a preteen Cass would be the type to nerve strike Spoiler because she's too weak to help. She'd be more likely to assume Steph knew what she was getting into.

I think her smile would be similar. Her simple staright-forwardness. Her rigid beliefs about what is right (but maybe not her reaction to people disagreeing).

I don't think she's changed a lot since she left David Cain. But she has changed.

Plot Bunny: Wen Qing Reincarnates

Wen Qing reincarnates into the Nie sect almost immediately after dying. She grows up Nie Lian and has a great aptitude for medicine that surprises her family. As soon as she starts learning to use a saber, she realizes the problem the resentful energy will cause. She has an intuitive knowledge of resentment she cannot explain. She does experiments that help her immediate family, but her activities do not draw much other attention. Nie Huaisang is aware of her talents, but he is also very distracted with revenge/justice and feigned incompetence. He supports her by not opposing her.

Then, when Wei Wuxian returns to the world, Nie Lian wakes up with the memories of Wen Qing. She is only 16 years old, but she is now both Lian and Qing. She's less guarded than before given how much support and protection she'd enjoyed as Lian, but she also gets a bit sharper and less patient as the memories settle in.

At first she does nothing. Then everything at the temple happens. Then she learns Wei Wuxian is alive again and her brother still lives. Then she learns the Golden Core Transfer is no longer secret.

She requests permission to visit Yunmeng and Gusu under the guise of expanding her medical knowledge. In reality, she wants to see Jiang Cheng for herself and find some way to apologize now that he knows the truth. Then she wants to hug her brother and hit Wei Wuxian for wasting her and the rest of the remnants' sacrifice.

She introduces herself as Nie Qinglian. She refuses to deny either part of who she is. While she is in Yunmeng, Jiang Cheng is injured. His usual doctor is absent (doing rounds along the pier probably) so Qinglian steps forward and takes command of the situation. She helps him. Then, when she thinks he is asleep, she talks to him. She apologizes for the Core Transfer and for keeping Wei Wuxian in the Burial Mounds for so long. Then she says she wishes she had kept the comb.

The problem is, Jiang Cheng had been asleep, but her voice coaxed him awake. Given how confusing her words were, he'd continued to feign sleep. When she mentions the comb, though, his eyes fly open.

"Wen Qing?"

And this 17 year old Nie disciple stares at him, her face slowly turning pink. "You were supposed to be asleep."

"Who are you?" he demands.

"Apparently I've reincarnated," she tells him. "I regained my memories last year. From what I understand, it happened around when your brother returned."

Jiang Cheng snorts. "Of course this is his fault."

"Would you like me to leave?" she asks, dryly.

"No," he says, sitting up too quickly and wincing for the effort.

"Lay back down. I didn't spend the past five hours saving your life only for you to undo all my hard work."

He lays back, but reaches out to catch her hand. "I'm glad you're here."

"I am sorry," she says. "I don't know if you heard that part."

"You can make it up to me."

"How?" she asks.

"Stay," he says with a yawn. "All I've ever wanted is for people to stay."

"All right," she says.

When he awake again, Jiang Cheng realizes that Wen Qing or Qinglian as she is now, will want to see Wen Ning. And Wei Wuxian. And that Lan kid they're pretending isn't actually a Wen.

He calls for some paper and writes his brother a letter.

A few days later, instead of a reply, Wei Wuxian descends on Lotus Pier with Lan Wanji, Lan Sizhui, and Wen Ning in tow. They all have a very tearful reunion. Qinglian both looks nothing and everything like Wen Qing. She is so much younger than he is now. He'd thought nothing of her when she had only been Nie Qinglian, but now that he knows she is also Wen Qing, he wants to hold her and never let go.

Qinglian does stay in Lotus Pier. Nie Huaisang has figured out who she is and does not insist she return. She and Jiang Cheng engage in a strange courtship where both sides are very uncertain of the other's regard. He doesn't want to trap her. She worries he can only love part of her. But after about a year, a few days after her 18th birthday, they share a kiss and he asks her to marry him.

She accepts.

well, the only one I've written anything for is acroc so... that one

um probably the collabs because I've never done one and my mind is kind of a mix of ?????? and feeling like I've never written a word in my life

6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?

acroc - it's a style I haven't done much of and I'm hoping it’ll all makes sense, doesn't come across as cheesy, etc.

7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?

all of them to make sure the characters aren't sticking four different hands somewhere or something of the sort

8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?

I haven't been writing a ton lately and I can't tell if it's writer's block or if I'm just busy. maybe a little of both

9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?

okay I don't count this as a wip because I'm done writing it, but technically it's still a wip for you all and I have to go with my boy Lucky from meet you after dark. you'll meet him on tuesday! he's the cutest, sassiest, prickliest little baby boy and I love him dearly

10. Which WIP is the sexiest?

ummm maybe the collab with @heartstringsduet ?

11. Which WIP is the angstiest?

the modern day time, curious time installment because they're going to be so sad over their past selves and not even know it. the also third vampire story would also be very angsty for different reasons

12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)?

I think the @welcometololaland collab really leans into their funny, bantering side and that's going to be really fun and full of moments that will feel very them. but also acroc is set in canon which really allows me to dig into some big thoughts and feelings

13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?

I think the wanderlust au setting will be gorgeous. I'm thinking small mountain town. (when I said this is barely an idea, I meant it)

14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?

acroc. this is going to be another fic where I end up doing a bunch of random research for. can't wait to learn adsfad

15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?

the collabs because I want don't want to let people down. I think acroc will be very cool if it all comes together the way I want it to

No, I wish. Imagine waking up and you already have an idea, that sounds like a dream (ha)

one time, curious time installment is historical, the third vampire story has well... vampires, and acroc has [redacted] so they're all pretty unique

18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour?

the collab w/ lola. plotting it always has me grinning

19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process?

not that I have planned at the moment, but I do want to write an outsider pov at some point for something

how about one for each?

acroc - the setting is a fictional place in Texas because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, but I'm basing it off of a place I've been to a few times

collab w/ lola - if you think no one is capable of looking hot in a blurry, breakroom employee of the month photo while wearing a polo, Carlos Reyes is about to prove you wrong

collab w/ michelle - this is pretty well known, but it's inspired by taylor swift because it's us

wanderlust au - I got this idea about two pages into reading a book. it was all inspired by the setting. (didn't finish that book though)

time, curious time installments - the lifetimes I have ideas for are chapter 5 (baker/blacksmith) and the modern, canon lifetime

vampire au - the plot of this fic is making me laugh now based on recent events surrounding meet you after dark

Harry and Meghan Netflix special.

Episode 1 Notes:

1. From the outset we are told this is a first hand account, using footage from their own archives. And members of BRF have declined to comment.

2. For some ridiculous reason, first scene is at an airport arrivals lounge. Private jet Harry's documentary starts with scenes from a commercial airport. Lol. Appary he has just landed at London in March 2020. Probably traumatic because this was the first time they had to take commercial lol

3. It's quite evident that this started as a video diary (Meghan's idea?) around March 2020. Way before they finalized the netft deal. So ...this is how they pitched to platforms? This is the behind the scenes look? Scheming bastards.

4. They are addressing all the little criticism - private jets. How little she knew of Harry. Media scrutiny. Archie. How she gave up everything to marry him and then he voluntarigave up his life to join her world.

5. There is a LOT of footage of the kids. Basicat it's their iPhone gallery made into a movie with piano music.

6. She and her friends really overexplai. That she was single "SINGLE" for a couple of months in summer 2016. And travelly the world with her girlfriends. And that those trips were planned to enjoy the world. Girl doth protest a bit too much.

7. Oh btw they met on Instagram. Lol new twist. And she got to know his through his ig feed. Lol. He is photographer ok guys. And he asked to meet her. So not a blind date.

8. They also show their private chats. URghhhh!

9. Harry is such a doofus. All he wanted was to get married and that's a bit creepy ok. It comes across as if he would have married anyone.

10. Nacho is there. URghhhh

11. Meghan didn't know him guys, at all. Did not know anyone. But told all her friends. Hahaha... And they are all here telling us she didn't know. Hahaha... And well... it would all be cute but it's them. So Diana is mentioned a few times. We get to know about their first meeting. And then it cuts to commentary from the day Harry was born, and how special Diana was and how everyone loved baby Harry. Sneaky!

12. We see a lot of footage of innocent diana talking about Harry and Harry doing cute stuff. Just in case we forget. Harry says he doesn't have early memories of his mom. But, dear viewers, we do, right? So that's more important. We all loved Diana.

13. Everybody who has ever spoken/written anything favorable about the couple is in this series. Noone who could present the other side. It seems a bit glaring.

14. So much royal footage. So much of the queen. If she was alive she definitely would have been offended at this. I'm sure. This is disrespectful. Because it makes it seem like "Meghan against the institution". Instead of Harry and Meghan the lovestruck couple.

This is the undertone that I think Meghan may have wanted to distance herself from.

15. When Harry talks about his childhood it does make a but of sense, esp with the skiing footage and Eug and Bea look overwhelmed.

16. He says what she shared in panorama was her experience and truth. Even if it was obtained in the wrong way.

17. Harry is such a simp. Meghan tries to be, but personally she seems like she is overacting even in their old home videos and facetimes. How is that possible?? And Harry says she is so simar to his mum. ewww... the mommy issues!

18. Lol there really are Diana's pictures on the wall in a tiara in the nursery. Didn't Harry hace any private pictures of her he can show his children because this was literally from a magazine photoshoot. WTH!

19. When he talks about his mum's death, they show a photo of the two brothers. With William looking at Harry, and Harry staring into space. That's heartbreak. Truly. The only time I wished the brothers were still close. What would Will think if he sees this??

20. This episode does a good job at presenting Harry's childhood issues. And his fears. He seems self aware. And you empathise with him up to that point. But then I wonder, with all of this, how could Meghan make this whole thing about herself?? His problems are real and massive and he had so much support. And she and him, they make this all about her not being able to adjust and how unfair it was for her to leave everything behind (for all of 1.5 yrs lol).

21. I think, this maybe one of the reasons that Meghan hasn't liked this series. We get to know the Harry that we liked and loved and thought we knew. It makes her feel.like a nobody. And he overcompensates ofr that constay. But the showrunners, director, Netflix won't overcompensate. They tell us who us the more valuable one.

22. Harry is White Knight-ing in Africa. You know, the wayward, heartbroken lad who just wants some warmth and acceptance... It's a bit much, this narrative. esp in these times. This impression of Africa the land of authenticity and finding yourself, even if true, is something we should all avoid now.

23. Harry's issues are so obviously here, I believe if Meghan hadn't come along he might have stayed on the straight and narrow. She didn't value and respect his heritage. And he mirrored her to be able to keep her. (My opinion from this episode)

24. Whenever Lindsay Roth speaks, I feel like she is auditioning for the best friend's role in a Hallmark movie. Whenever nacho comes on screen I want to scream, he is a skeez.

25. They show Harry's tiny makesft tent. To quell the glamping rumours.

26. Abigail Spencer and her bad extensions. Uffff!

27. There's some friend of hers called silver tree. Lol what? Who is this woman? I bet she is a stand in for Gina Nelthorp Cowne. Poor Gina, was ghosted but would have loved to do these interviews.

28. They are saying that initially it was much easier for her to come to London and stay at KP with him. And then they would drive to Windsor and walk around frogmore and have all this space and privacy without anyone ever noticing. So much privacy in london. Hmm.... The exact life they left behind. Weird (not!)

29. It's all bad media, intrusive media.

30. Pictures of the Halloween party, the night before the news of the relationship broke. Eugene's costume, yikes! Also, did they take permission from her to use these photos because she is a literal princess. The palace would and should protect her. (IMO)

31. Harry says, after the news broke, he didn't know what he was walking into. Lol poor dude never thought Meghan would be thriving on getting papped every where. She really did milk this opportunity and was probably acting all innocent in front of him. Because his concern seems genuine, her shock less so.

32. Some of the news headlines, articles, voiceovers they show here are not from this period. They are from.much later, before the wedding. Not from 2016 i remember back then everyone loved her. And she got a lot of positive press, esp in the UK.

Podcast fic by a country mile, and also by virtue of being the only one committed to paper right now.

3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?

We used to know..., I think. It's going to be full of flashbacks. Alex will have a lot of behaviour to recontextualise.

4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?

Probably My Big Sister's Wedding. I've been through enough Wedding Stuff to really have an intimate knowledge of the bullshit of the wedding industry (i.e. the groom doesn't matter, everything is so expensive, I will cry if this isn't the right shade of blue) and will have fun skewering it.

5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?

Came Back Wrong. I mean. It's deliberately writing Henry OOC. He didn't come back RIGHT

6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?

The Strictly AU. Despite the ballet AU being my first fic in the fandom, I'm not a dancer and know nothing of the ballroom/Latin world beyond what I see on BBC One every Saturday.

Honey, everything is giving me writer's block right now. No new words will be written between now and the wedding. I will only Think AU Thoughts.

We used to know..., mainly because I'm basing a character on a reality TV judge who cries when stuff is really good and I love that about him.

It's GONNA be Sparkly witch Alex. Magic is sexy.

Came Back Wrong, although Podcast fic has had its moments.

Podcast fic. Because I've actively written it.

I think I'm going to do good things with the Strictly AU.

I'm bad at this. I worked SO hard on Ghosted and yet an off-the-cuff three chapter thing blew it out of the water when it came to reaction. So I can't answer! It'll be wrong!

No, I rarely dream.

Strictly will. I'll need to know dance terminology.

thank you for this! honestly, I woke up at 4 am this morning thanks to my toddlers and scrolled dm with dread anticipating how much more crap the RF has to put up with. But there’s actually very little beyond the workings of a totally deranged narc who took iPhone videos of everything over the past 6 years. (Who the f does that? This isn’t normal.)

My jaw dropped reading Oprah and the reactions on my IG feed. It’s not like that now, at all.

In my HC I shared, wolf was actually a really good kid. He had a good family, good environment but had a bad look in the people’s view, I would say at first they consider him as a dog but once he corrects them the kids get a bit scared and move away from him maybe some teachers too but not all. It was a struggle for wolf seeing the looks he and probably his family gets cause they think there just scary, but wolf kept his chin up even if he got negative look and it did hurt him. I think he snapped in his late teen years where I like to think he met someone who basically just used him and set him a trap and jumped wolf who did fight back and left a lot of minor injury. it broke him and made him enrage, scared even. He didn't wanna go home so he ran off and hid for hurting others let alone NOT wanting his family in danger. He did slowly heal but it still haunts him for what had happen to him Webs life wasn't the best since I feel she was in the closet and was a runaway teen. Her family not supporting her coding and what she wanted to do. So she try to show her family and others that she could do something. But being a tarantula people freaked out and would try to kill her, she had almost death experience and it freaked her out and scared to think one day she will die a horrible death, she couldn't trust nobody both at home or the real world, but wolf met her and took her in and lets her know she’ll be safe and nothing will happen (Id say she prob the youngest out of the group, probably 22-23 and wolf finding her maybe around 16-17 and this was after he met the guys <3) *and small fun fact webs wasn't transitioning yet till she met wolf and the others, once she did they fully supported her Piranha being the younger batch of brothers let alone him being smaller than the others he was picked on quiet often, he was quite loud and bouncy but he was nice and never really wanted to hurt anybody! I HC that his family is a sort of gang and he had to grow up learning this stuff even tho he didn't want to, I notice in the movie he could be a bit aggressive when they tell him he cant do something and get mad fast. so when they force him its a no moment till he starts showing he was, it was more violent than the other brothers which I feel his dad would be proud to see this side of his son, but that's now what piranha wants, I felt he wanted to be a musician and make songs cause he adores to sing and has a beautiful voice (also in the movie he sang TWICE plus he wanted to sing to the cat on the tree) but one his family doesn't approve and two him getting more attention with how crazy powerful he is, his brothers treated him like shit and made him feel he was worthless or weak. Him being angry with all these emotions he too runs off and just trying to enjoy life but knowing what he is and where he came from people don't trust him till he met the gang I HAVE NOT THOUGHT OF SNAKE AND SHARK YET!! BUT DID LIKE TO THINK THIS FOR THE TWO: Snake being a quiet kid but getting bullied easily or people get scared and run away from him. He prob did have some friends but they just left him or forget about him (having really bad trust issues and it stuck with him as he got older with being in different groups with other bad guys that wasn't wolf yet) Shark however I feel he was the gentle giant type of kid who was a social kid but really sensitive. I Gotta think more tho <3

12. Have you any old muses that you’d love to bring back?

Honestly, 99% of the time, when I pick up a muse, I don't drop them ( not even Daisuke who only has. . . one rp partner to write with? ). Levi's an exception. I tried to write him a few years back with no succeed in finding roleplay partners. In my second attempt though, I found a wonderful writer who trusted me, and I owe to their excitement and wonderful writing, that I found Levi's voice. Levi was so difficult and complicated to write, so I hadn't the guts at first to write him, but eventually he became one of my most active muses ( even if I still don't have many people to write him, and I do in AUs mostly ). So you can say, I've already brought someone back.

Another character I'd consider adding back is Chisaki. Once upon a time, I had made Chisaki his blog / docs / everything, but immediately dropped him? I don't know why, but it's probably because of the disgusting villain he is. Maybe, now having more experience in writing villains, I could bring him back, but still he's a villain I find interesting in discovering but also hate the most. Maybe in an au setting, maybe in canon-divergent portrayal. I still don't know.

14. Who is an author that inspires you?

I have an immediate answer to give cause I've had this conversation recently: F. Scott Fitzerald, Albert Camus and Nikos Kazatzakis. These three writers are the ones I like the most and their writing inspires me to no end. I think they all have a similar way of writing ( in my perspective at least ): simple writing ( not too many fancy words ), full of emotion where every sentence is poetry, and solid ( they don't use excessive words ), if that makes sense. Fitzerald is a writer I love since I was very young. Camus is a writer I discovered in the past year ( or two, time flies fast ), and Kazatzakis is a famous Greek writer I have the luck to read in his ( and my ) mother language, so I have an even better opinion of his writing ( I don't know in English Translation, but in Greek he's a difficult one to read, but his writing is wonderful. Sometimes translation from Greek to English tends to 'simplify' the meaning a bit ).

My point: this is the kind of style I aim for. Where I can trigger plethora of emotions with a single sentence that doesn't say too much, but enough. I have a long way to go, though, but I'm young and I hope for the best. 🤞

16 & 17. Favourite trope? / Least favourite trope?

I love it when two people meet, and at some point in writing, one gets to meet a different side of them. Meaning, once a certain bond is estabilished, for one muse to meet the one they thought they knew in a different way: have they turned to a child? A universe where their course of life had taken a different turn? A villain au? Anything that will make one muse see different sides of the other and understand them in a different level.

Castiel if he hadn't met Dean for example. Or Levi when he was an innocent child who had nobody in the world, or in his time as a ruthless criminal. Shoto when he was a child who wasn't haunted by trauma ( or right after his trauma ), or maybe him choosing to become a villain, instead of a hero. These kinds of things are my favorite scenarios, and I think mostly because many of my muses, don't reveal much about themselves, and these are the chances they will. It's the sort of scenario when: ‘ I've finally known the best and the worst of you ’.

Least favorite trope I think would be these sort of scenarios where muses pretend to be in love for some reason ( family or something ) and fall in love after. I just feel as if love is something that's MEANT to happen, and shouldn't be faked before it gets real.

21. Suspicious beggar

Listen, I know we all want a gentleman in the streets and a beast in the sheets, but we literally find him hunched over eating some people meat, and honestly, I'd rather you just take me to Denny's.

Rating: Even I, as a monsterfucker, must decline.

20. Skeptical man

I bet he would spend the entire time telling me about his upstart cheap funeral business. Scratch that, he'd take me to his upstart cheap funeral business and expect me to be impressed by his predatory installment payments and hidden fees.

Rating: No, I don't think buy-one-get-one-free is appropriate here, my guy.

19: Lonely old woman

I don't want to come off like a DARE-enthusiast but she literally needs sedatives in order to treat my like a human being. If you're going to need to pop some pills to stand the sight of me, I don't think we're right for each other.

Rating: Winners don't do drugs or something

18: Patches the Spider

Now, not to victim blame myself in this hypothetical situation, but with Patches, you know what you're getting into. You don't date a guy called Patches the Spider expecting him to be your one. You expect him to be the one that leaves you with the bill at an expensive restaurant.

Rating: Sends the most pathetic apology texts.

17: Old Hunter Yamamura

Big conspiracy theory vibes on this guy. Not neccessarily harmful, but you just can't keep a conversation going with a man who insists on reading you his conspiracy themed slam poetry.

Rating: Bad dates are a curse, and a curse is a shackle.

16: Iosefka, the real one

Please remember that this list is only concerned with the datability of the NPC, not how cute I personally find them. And, sadly, I think Iosefka gives off big married to her job vibes. Lots of so sorry, i got swamped at the clinic texts at 8pm while I've been inhaling free breadsticks at the Yharnam olive garden with nobody to stop me and only the pity of the staff for company as I insist my date will show up any second now.

Rating: *shoving old memes into my purse* I have to leave immediately

15: Provost Willem

It's Friends reruns at his place or nothing with this dude. Will not get up from his comfy chair and you'll have to find the snacks at his house on your own.

Rating: "Fear the old blood"? Not very adventurous of you.

14: Fauxsefka

Very hot and cold. I am 100 % aware that any date with Fauxsefka is going to end with me being experimented upon, but until then, I'll be in for a delightfully sinister night. The most unselfaware evil date of them all.

Rating: "Don't worry...I'll be with you for the rest of your life."

13: Vileblood Hunter Alfred

Yeah, yeah, I know he's dreamy. I just don't have the energy to listen to a guy who's clearly still hung up on his ex. I don't want to compete with a dude named Martyr Logarius.

Rating: Looking for a martyr in your relationship just doesn't seem healthy to me.

12: Brador

He's got the YA bad boy vibes. Just look at his laid-back lean, his long hair, his antlers...

Imagine going out to do whatever YA bad boys do on a date...smoking in public and heckling skaters at a skatepark or something, only to find out that the dude you're on a date with used to be an assassin for the church. What are you going to talk about now? Can you even ask questions anymore? What he lets something slip you weren't supposed to know and now he has to kill you?

Rating: 20 questions is probably off the table.

11: Annalise, queen of the vilebloods

She's always a tad distant, don't you think? Like yes, I will take the 5 bad leftist points and admit sometimes thinking about being courted by a queen like in the good old times is big sexy, but in reality as long as she insists I kneel before talking to her we'll never see eye to eye.

Rating: Also she canonically rejects you after offering her the ring of betrothal and I don't think I can handle that.

10: Valtr

Not a bad guy, per se. Definitely has the influence to take me somewhere nice. I'm just very uncomfortable by the fact that he apparently has never heard of trapping the vermin under a glass and putting it outside. Valtr, you don't have to kill the wiggly blood centipede because it's gross!

Rating: Fake date scheme: Instead of calling an exterminator, fake date a hunter.

9: Adella the Nun

It pains me very much to say this, but realistically, Adella probably wouldn't be the best date. You'd ask her where she wanted to go and she'd be all like "oh, I don't mind as long as it's with you" and you'd be left thinking "what a nice sentiment, but we've been dating for five months and I still don't know anything about your interests!"

Rating: Voted most likely to say I love you on the first date.

8: Simon the Harrowed

A tad gossipy. He would be all like "Do you know why this Six Flags was closed last summer? Apparently two kids got flung out of the roller coaster only two months apart, and all they did over the summer was raise the minimum age of that coaster." Like, thanks for the fun facts but do you think you could have chosen literally any other point in time to divulge it than when we were being strapped in for the roller coaster ride?

7: Retired Hunter Djura

A compassionate man! Also a man that would have his house filled with a shit ton of animals he rescued, and would introduce you to each and every one. That's cute and all, but you're never quite sure if he actually knows what he's doing with all these animals.

Rating: Do...do you have a license to keep that alligator?

6: The Doll

Makes you the best tea. Actually, she would take you on the best date, but there'd always be something missing. I'd always be wondering if she isn't just mirroring what she thinks I'd want out of a date.

Rating: Don't mind me spiralling over the moral implications of dating the doll.

5: Saint Adeline

She's kind, gentle and incredibly sweet. She'd also mention some fucked up self-depricating thing about herself or her past so offhandedly that you wouldn't even know where to begin to talk about it, and she's dropped that verbal bomb like it's nothing, but it would leave you a tad uncomfortable nevertheless.

Rating: Hold up. Wait. Just a second. You know it's not healthy to refer to yourself as nothing, right?

4: Gilbert

We're both outsiders in a city that's notably very unfriendly towards outsiders. There's so much to bond over, and we could help each other with our respective troubles! Sadly, he is in the process of turning into a beast, but he's being safe about it and everything!

Rating: Suspicious beggar wishes he were you.

3: Arianna, Woman of the Night

If common theories are to be believed, she really is the best of both worlds: Descended of the Vilebloods but also one of us common folk. And she's got a stable income, honestly, what can't this woman do? Of course, there's the whole eldritch pregnant with an alien baby situation, but honestly, it's your loss if you're not up to it.

Rating: What more can I say but MILFBACAL (mother i'd like to fuck but also cherish and love)?

2: Oedon Chapel Dweller

Seems to me like a real picnic date person. Definitely has some moments of uncomfortable self-deprecation as well, but I think they just need some support in order to get the help they need to find their way out of those patterns.

Rating: Hands just the right size to hold.

1: Eileen the Crow

She's just got it figured out. Of all of the Bloodborne NPCs, she's the one who's got her life together, well, as together as one can have their life in Yharnam. She's got a stable job, she knows when to quit, and even if she's grouchy about it, she will accept help when she needs it. She's an outsider too, but she's also got plenty of experience in Yharnam and in life in general.

Rating: Sweep me off my feet any time!
