A little self-insert fan-fiction headcanon.

I imagine that Karlach loves stories but dislikes reading. So, she asks Astarion to read them for her.

So, every night in bed, he reads her a chapter or two of the current book she is reading. Romance. Mystery. Spicy Romantasy. He gets into it too. Does the voices. Tries to be as dramatic as possible.

Inspired by my wife. An ADHD-haver. She loves stories but has a hard time reading. So, her solution is audio books.

When she has no audio book, she uses me.

Karlach can say she’s read plenty of books with Astarion’s help. Keep Gale’s face from melting off.

i saw someone on reddit mention this and wanted to see it for myself, so here it is. if you initiate a romance with astarion, but then later pursue someone else, he'll almost always be catty about it, imply that you have poor taste for choosing someone else over him, and will reject any offer of polyamory on the grounds of either personal standards (ew, you want him to be in a love triangle with who?) or self-preservation (he ain't fighting lae'zel for your ass lmao).

but if his rival-in-question is karlach...

he tells you that he hopes you'll be a comfort to her and turns down your offer of seeing him on the side because he doesn't want her to get hurt :`)

meanwhile, if you put karlach in the same situation (start out romancing her, then pursue astarion), she'll also start out quite sweet...

and then quickly devolve into (affectionately) taking the piss out of astarion for stealing her partner 😁

I did this to myself. Okay, now I’m thinking what if during/after the gnoll fight where you can influence them to eat each other Karlach gets strangely somber and quiet. (Yea, cause she had to dismember and eat pieces of her enemies to survive in Avernus so it brings her memories and bad vibes)

Then Astarion makes an insensitive joke about the eating thing, Karlach doesn’t laugh, he notices her mood change. Then he puts two and two together and realizes they have YET ANOTHER thing in common. Not only feeding on gross and rotten things, but feeding on enemies they kill. Astarion does it during fights with the group, and Karlach used to have to do it in the hells. Then he makes a comment about how he does it too and it’s fine, or whatever, which makes Karl feel a bit better about herself.

Ofc they grow closer with that and then THEY KISS AND-
