Hello, hope you're doing well!

I don't really know where else to ask this, so sorry if this is annoying. I have seen your beautiful TS3 posts and It's making the craving I've had to play it for months even stronger lol

The problem is, no matter what I do I can't seem to get it to run without major lag/stuttering. I have a fairly decent computer with 16gb of RAM, and have followed all the steps I've seen on forums (Nrass mods and MCcc for cleaning up a save, lazyduchess' smooth patch etc.) and no matter what, it stutters. Sims 3 was my first sims game, so I know the usual amount of lag to have and what it's doing now isn't the usual normal amount; I can tell for some reason it's struggling to run smoothly and at the point it's at it's unplayable :(

Do you have any more tips that I could possibly do to get it to run? I feel so nostalgic for it :'(

Having a good amount of computer memory helps for sure, but the biggest help when it comes to games and smooth performance is your GPU memory, and the type of drive you’ve got the game installed on.

For The Sims 3 I think the minimum spec used to be 2gb, but I like to think these days 4gb-6gb GPU would be a better soft entry for it, esp if you plan to play with all packs, CC, and possibly an HQ mod. For storing the games files, I highly recommend installing it on an SSD ( Solid State Drive ), it’ll load things like objects and textures a lot quicker ( so long as it isn’t CC ), and you’ll get less pop ins, and waiting for stuff to render properly.

Now if you’ve got everything above, and are still getting lag without CC. Make sure the game recognizes your card, if this hasn’t been done the game isn’t properly using it. It would’ve been a step included in that one Steam Community tutorial I linked. The other thing is, esp if you’ve got a more powerful GPU, is to force fps ( frames per second ) to cap at 60 fps. This is so crucial bc The Sims 3 doesn’t have Vsync, it’s old as hell, if you’re running a brand new card, you’ll be pushing astronomical frame rates which is risky, and you’ll need to cap this through your GPU’s settings app, but doing it will save your GPU a lotta stress, and also stabilize The Sims 3’s performance, or any game for that matter.

Now if you’ve got everything above, and are still getting lag with CC. Especially if you’ve got a lot of it, there are ways to mitigate this. Try looking up tutorials on how to merge CC, and then to minimize load times, try using programs like Bulk Rename Utility to remove any spaces and special characters in CC file names. You want less than 100 files in your entire CC/mods folder, merging will help achieve this if you’ve got a lot of CC. I’ve got almost 30gb of CC, and my game takes like a minute and a half to load to menu.

Lastly just be sure your settings are set for your rig specifically, and honestly, even if your PC is powerful, things like high detail trees, and super water isn’t necessary, those settings will look fine ticked down a bit.

How do you draw eyes? Especially for your ocs? I’ve noticed how different and unique your ocs eyes are, and I wanted to know both how you draw the eyes and also how you come up with such unique ideas!

I’m also a big eye enjoyer, it really just determines the entire feel of a character/drawing and I love drawing them sm.

Usually I just draw eyes normally? There's not often anything unique about them unless I choose to dictate that aspect of a characters design.

For the characters with special eyes though, I often make them unique based off of something important towards that character!

For example, the turtles from Rise. I draw all of them with heterochromia to represent that they have ninpo & mystic abilities (I also chose the colours based off what I headcanon their magic projections looking like). As for my OC's, I usually put symbols or shapes in their eyes, again based off of something relevant to that character.

Fun fact: the shape in Cycle's eyes (and the same symbols covering his body) are supposed to look like a loop! They just lack the arrows because they were too annoying/difficult to draw regularly on a small scale.

So, I'm a LIS student, recently started an internship at a local public library and was told that they're moving me from the technical area (classifying and describing books) to reference temporarily (because we're short-staffed due to summer holidays).

I'm really nervous about dealing with people, helping them find whatever they want and giving them recs if asked. I'm shy and awkward and haven't been reading much lately, so I just wanted to know if you have any advice for me?

In my first library desk job, back at my undergrad, I… didn’t do very well interacting with patrons when I first started. My boss shifted me to behind the scenes stuff for an entire semester before giving me a second chance at the desk, didn’t tell me the full reason behind the shift until much later. That’s a story for another day, and one better suited for my main rather than Librarian.

What makes one succeed at a reference and/or circulation desk isn’t reading all the books - I tried that, it didn’t help. It’s being able to meet people where they are.

A reference interview is a conversation. It’s about listening to what someone is asking, giving follow up questions to get a better picture, and exploring for an answer together. Patron wants horror recommendations? Pull up the library catalog, show them how to search by subject, how to filter searches. If your library has access to readers advisory databases (my university does but we also have a strong library science program), plug in some books the patron liked in the past and see what it suggests. Some patron questions won’t even be directly related to the library’s collection - I’ve been asked for directions too many times to count, and it’s never bad to memorize the location of the closest bathroom to your desk.

Remember… your job is to help. You won’t have every answer, but you can at least provide a nudge in the right direction. There’s nothing wrong with taking down someone’s contact information to reach out to them later if it’s a question which requires you to dig, or to ask a supervisor for help, or to refer a patron to another organization.

Hi I never understood why people see Annie as a lesbian. Could you explain it to me? I’m not against it, I just can’t see it yet.

short answer is that sometimes i just bestow lesbianism onto characters i like :^)

longer answer is that she exhibits signs that many people read as compulsory heterosexuality, thus reading her a lesbian or wlw. some examples off the top of my head are

she's shown to like unobtainable men (jeff, rich)

she often likes the guys that britta likes (she straight up says this in an episode, so it's like... was that attraction real at all? or do you like these guys because they're acceptable to crush on bc britta has dated them)

she's only attracted to abed (and the dean that one time lol) when he's playing a character

she has this rigid idea of the person she's supposed to be and the (heteronormative) life she's supposed to have (pretending to be mrs winger)

in her halloween fantasy she rips the love interest to shreds. queen tbh

plus the valentine's day episode where she went to kiss britta with no hesitation 🤔 i know there's other examples out there but these are the big ones i remember right now!

ik some people were worried about some of the new features, including likes from mutuals showing up, but there's a way to shut that off (just in case anyone else was curious, that's how you can get rid of some of these rather annoying dash features)

[Okay so when I write scripts, the general format looks something like this]

Speaker: I'm going to be saying the first thing in this conversation.

Listener: (tone) Well here's my response to that statement.

Speaker: Really? (action/SFX) If that's the case, this is my response.

For the most part, I add a lot of notes for myself if anything. I'll sometimes add tone tags because it'll help me remember how I wanted a line to come off when reading it for the recording. I'll sometimes add additional indicators if, for example, the lines are muffled because of distance or being heard as a result of telepathy. Overall, I keep it pretty simple. As long as I can interpret it, that works for me. (At least as of right now since I haven't had any guest VAs on the channel yet)

Note: Yes, I write out listener responses/lines. It helps me out to write out the whole conversation (/lh).

How do you mimic Vivzie's art style?

Since I was drawing a succubus I looked at screenshots of Verosika and basically just eyeballed the style. Like how the feet look, the arms, and how she draws faces and heads for female characters. Mimicking screenshots is not a bad thing, tracing sure, but just looking at a screenshot and following how the figure looks to mimic an art style is alright. Especially for beginning artists or those wanting to up their stylization game.

Your no spicy things post reminded me- are there ever any crunchy foods in the elvin world?

Okay I have gone through the food section of Unlocked to answer this question and have determined that there are crunchy foods in the elvin world, they're just very rare. And also like all sweets.

So the only food in Unlocked that I saw where the word crunchy was actually used in the description was custard bursts, which are "crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside" (p. 310). They're not 100% crunchy as they're got some signature elvin goo, but there are crunchy elements to it!

Then there's also two other desserts that aren't said to be crunchy, but that I'm assuming could be based on the descriptions. These include butterblasts, which is another situation where it's only partially crunchy. They have sugar crystals on the top that I assume have a nice crunch, but the rest are said to be doughnut texture. The second are indigoobers which are candy clusters, sounding like a hard candy shell situation. They could be more like gushers and therefore not crunchy, but I do think it's possible they're crunchy.

Finally there's umber leaves, which aren't necessarily crunchy but are crispy? Which is like a close second. At least I'm assuming they're crispy as they're dried leaves. I'm thinking they have a seaweed-like texture, which could be associated with crunch.

All that to say that there aren't really crunchy foods in their world! There's a few mentions here and there, but they do seem to be sticking close to the gooey and chewy family with everything they're doing. Even the nuts are warm and gooey. All we need to do to take them down is give them crunchy spicy foods and they'll be out. I'm personally voting for wasabi peas, but other suggestions are welcome :)

so in the actual html, u should see an affiliates section (press CTRL+F and type in "right sidebar", it'll bring u right to it!), when you get there it should look something like this:

how to change the affiliates:

change the "URL" part of the code to the url of your affiliate (using my blog as an example, you would put "https://heroeddiemunson.tumblr.com")

change the "TITLE" part of the code to the affiliate's title (usually i would change this to the blog handle; using my blog again as an example, that would just be "heroeddiemunson")

within the code, where you see "nancyvhlr", change that (again) to the blog handle (again, using my blog as an example, "heroeddiemunson")

and that should fix the affiliates section for you! you can add/delete affiliates as you need them

if you want to delete the section entirely, highlight from from <!-- AFFILIATES -- > to right before the next section, which i've highlighted with a red line below:

hmm … one is aware of song genders , genders that relate to a song! perhaps that is what you’re looking for , anon? having a song as a gender ( although most song genders can also relate to kinning said song ). as for identities that relate to having a song encompass you , one is not aware of any like that.

a song gender would be good for you , anon , if you are looking for something more specific. if you are looking for a broader term that stands for people who are encompassed / represented by songs ( hy thinks ,, like when a song is just you. youcore ) one is not sure that that exists quite yet!
