Ok I don't want to start a fandom war or anything but as a curvy girl seeing the "I Love My Body" trend is actually... extremely triggering.
You might be asking-why? It's just a message of body positivity, there's nothing wrong with it. Other than the fact that the music video and the song were literally stolen from curvy artist Meghan Trainor.
I've been a Meghan fan for FOREVER and I see a lot of people calling this song "All About That Bass if it was Kpop" or "What Meghan wishes she could do." UM. First of all, All About That Bass was written sung and performed by a CURVY WOMAN. FOR EVERY BODY TYPE. I am so tired of people saying "Hwasa is a curvy icon!" SHE'S NOT CURVY. I understand that Korean beauty standards ARE VASTLY different then American. But they are extremely harsh. Hwasa may be "curvy" in that industry, but she's nowhere near ACTUALLY CURVY. When people try to claim those with more slim fits are "curvy" it actually hurts the actual curvy/plus sized community. It's ok not to be curvy! It's important to understand all body types are beautiful, but there is a difference between them.
Ok but let's talk about the fact that the song is stolen. Not only does the song have the whole Megan Trainor sound to it, it also litteraly stole elements from songs like Me Too and Nice To Meet Ya. If you listen to both songs the backgrounds have similar aspects (especially the bubble pop effects). Not only that, but part of the video is LITERALLY THE START OF THE MV IS JUST ME TOO. AND EVEN THE CHORUS IS ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME! I know Hwasa can't be blamed since someone else wrote and produced the song but it's very obvious that they are stealing from an actual curvy girl and that should never be ok. Especially since when a slim woman releases this music it's "body positive!" "inspiring!" but when a curvy girl did she's "encouraging obesity" "ugly" "cringey". I love the message Hwasa is spreading but please. DON'T STEAL FROM US.

Hwasa is literally body goals if it wasn't for mamamoo inspiring me since 2014-2024 her charisma and talents and stage presences and dazzling personality and badass personality she has inspired me to be myself her songs are uplifting and upbeat she makes me feel good about myself and i am comforting in my own body and skin her song i love my body has to be my favorite song of all time it really made me love my body i don't need to change for anyone or go on a diet she has inspired me to be myself if it wasn't for her i would not be confident in myself and my body she is absolute body goals I'd wish I had her body but I'm an hourglass compared to pear shaped she has made me love my body shape she doesn't follow the beauty standards in south Korea people always critised her for her body and outfits, she doesn't care at all she's fierce and badass the haters always got something to say when she performs on stage or wears her outfits she's gotten hate for not wearing a bra at the airport people wanted her to go on a diet people should look in the mirror before deciding to be disrespectful and rude not everyone wants to follow toxic beauty standards at all especially the diet cultural nobody has the time to go on a diet and see that isn't working I'm saying no to diets and the toxic beauty standards as well not everything is about being skinny and going vegan this is why I don't follow the ugly and toxic beauty standards people will always critise and judge you on your looks and the way you dress as well I'm saying no to the ugly toxic beauty standards I've had enough of being told to lose weight I'm not losing weight and i will never go vegan at all I'm getting tired of being body shamed and told to lose weight because I don't fit the toxic beauty standards i don't care anymore I will never follow the toxic beauty standards anymore anyone else who isn't beautiful you guys are beautiful don't let others tell you to lose weight or get obese please don't attack me I've been body shamed my entire life since high-school because i was told i was too skinny and ended up starving myself because of it till 2024 I've gained weight because I was being body shamed throughout my life and told be extremely skinny and be extremely big as well I was not gonna take none of that nonsense from anyone anymore to those who are being body shamed and told to look a certain way tell those haters to get lost and mind their business they shouldn't be in anyone's business in general

Beauty Standards Broken by K-Pop Idols
1. Small Eyes
Tumblr media
BTS’ Jimin is known for having small eyes. He’s shown fans that he’s not handsome despite them, but rather because of them. Another idol known for this is TWICE’s Dahyun. She has a pair of alluring small eyes which are always as beautiful and shining during performances. It’s a fresh take from the old beauty norms in Korea that big eyes = beauty.
2. Tanned Skin
Tumblr media
TWICE’s Jihyo is known to have darker skin tone which made fans questioning about the beauty standard of having light skin. Jihyo has proved to fans that tanned skin is gorgeous as she always glows on stage whenever she has a tan. She has also spoken during interviews that she is confident about her skin tone.
3. Curvy Bodies
Tumblr media
Hwasa of Mamamoo is powerhouse on stage with her beautiful curvy body. Her gorgeous curves and her confidence in her own body is epitome of “you do you.” She may not have the ideal slim body, pale flawless skin, or big eyes, but it is her unique look that makes her even more attractive.
4. Short Height
Tumblr media
A few idols such as Woozi of Seventeen and Jinhwan of iKON who stand at the height of 164 cm has showed to fans that they can also perform as well as other members. Instead, they are more noticeable among the group because of their height which has made them receive more love from fans too.
5. Mixed Race
Tumblr media
People with mixed race in Korea might before bullying targets in Korea as they don’t fit in sometimes. Biracial idols such as HeuningKai of TXT and Somi have captivated the hearts of many fans. They might not be the same as Korean idols but that can be their charm too.
