The complete base BG2 party roster in Darkest Dungeon style!
Some of them were used in this scene
I thought that the stylisation is way too fun to limit it to my in-game party (and besides, I sometimes switch party members anyway).
The models (sans my Charname, and including background with Athkatla sewers and Othyugh) are downloadable and usable under CC BY-NC-SA.
download via st.ash and via google disk (maybe I'll find a way to host in somewhere else later). Enjoy!

Woe to the one
Who boast in front of the gods
Woe to the god
Who is petty and jealous to mortals
Ensiferum 'Andromeda' --------------------------
I've decided to give oils in Rebelle another go. It's more of a cinematic recreation than what actually happened, but I'm really happy with it.

There is a slight, but meaningful difference between English and Polish version of this dialogue - in the original the sentence reads "You pause, knowing you may not survive the battle to come" and in the Polish translation it's "You stop, aware that You will not survive the coming battle". Whether it's a simple translation blunder or an intentionally more dramatic approach, considering Charname has to take battle after battle in their weakened state that's getting worse, it makes sense they'd feel they've reached their limit.

You're having fun?
Despite being a size of a large cat (not counting his tail!) Rim isn't really heavy. He takes up quite a lot of place in the backpack, but he can also perch comfortably on Iwona's shoulders, which he often does.
When he isn't causing mischief, scouting, or hunting mice, that is.

Some fights are definitely not a nice experience.
Charname is under so much stress during BG2, that I thought the crossover might be in order.
Full set of base BG2 characters in DD style

One thing I really find funny about Minthara is that she looks weirdly familiar to me, bc she's extremely close to how I imagined Iwona to look when under Adalon's spell.
I guess it's mostly bc of her hairstyle, but also if I had to make Iwona's (already fairly triangular) features even sharper, ears longer, then paint her in the drow colour scheme, what I'd get would be quite close to how Minthara looks in-game. The main difference is that Iwona's nose is longer, her lips are a little fuller, and I imagine her skin colour to be darker, more grey with mauve undertone.
Wondering about it inspired me to slap some colours to the pencil sketch from some time ago, to solidify how exactly she'd look like posing as Veldrin.

I think when it comes to her looks, Iwona is a near carbon copy of her mother. It feels fair to me that the bhaalspawns would resemble their mortal lineage - if it was not the case, having similar face features they would be fairly easy to recognise as siblings.
But if Iwona resembles Alianna, then from Gorion's perspective, does it make it better or worse?
Maybe the fact that she resembles the woman he loved makes it easier to pretend she's his own daughter. Maybe he finds it comforting to see a smile he knows - at last, he's probably known Iwona's mother's better side. Even evil cultists can be charming, after all and she had to have something that made him believe that she wouldn't go through with the terrible plan.
And maybe he braids his daughter's hair in a particular way because otherwise, she looks too much like her mother. Maybe, if the light hits her face from a particular angle the sight of her knotted eyebrows grips his throat with cold fear. The prophecies of Alaundo are never entirely out of his mind, but he still had hope that he could find a way to defy the unevitable.
But the image of Alianna's death and her last, hateful glare will never truly leave him.
He's been wrong once, thinking love was enough to tear someone from Lord of Murder's influence. And in moments like these, when Iwona seemed so much like her, it struck him that he naively, foolishly, desperately attempted the same feat a second time and hoped that this time, it would be enough. Because it had to be.
After all he already knew he would never be strong enough to kill her.

A little test of the type of lighting more fit for a dungeon.
I’ve had an idea that just how heavy physical toll the raid on Spellhold took on Charname could be initially overlooked due to the fact that the whole game of chase with Bodhi happened underground, in pretty bad lighting conditions.
I’m also starting to consider that giving up a point of constitution (described as “renouncing her youth and fitness”) in a fight to stay alive despite her soul being torn to pieces, would result in Iwona aging visually 5 years or more overnight, as well as gaining a few grey hair on the way. Apart from looking really sick and abnormally tired in the following weeks, of course.

In the dream sequences it’s implied that at this point in the story Charname is just a few steps away from being a walking corpse, clinging to life by a sheer force of will. It’s hard to miss that they’re not in good shape, there’s a few dialogues showing that they have trouble keeping up with the party and getting weaker over time, not to say that turning into the Slayer couldn’t be good for anyone involved, but I really like to think that it’s after coming out into the broad daylight when the companions really become aware of how heavily the whole ordeal affected her body.

Iwona!
Who would she had been if she hadn’t been thrust into the life of a BG protagonist?
Alternatively: does she have a favourite food?
Tumblr media
She'd have probably become either a mage or a scholar - her pursuit of martial skills generally was a rather sudden decision born out of necessity, as she decided she won't be able to protect herself properly with her very limited magical skills alone. Without assassins and bounty hunters chasing her out of Candlekeep, she could've spent way more time studying comfortably and developing her arcane talents. Her natural curiousness probably would've eventually driven her outside (who knows, maybe she'd even become an adventurer), altough it probably wouldn't happen until way later in her life, and her first journey wouldn't be nearly as dramatic as in-game. Perhaps she'd settle down after a while and start a successful magical business, who knows.
As I headcanon that at least some of her physical strenght has developed due to her heritage, I think she'd be less strong, and as a result, way less likely to ever switch to any typically frontline class.
As far as the food goes…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She likes hearty soups and fresh bread with butter. Living her whole life in an isolated monastery, she's completely unused to some spices, though, and very spicy food is nearly inedible to her.

I know the Gorion's Ward is dead in BG3 canon (as per Murder in Baldur's Gate and so on), but for me personally the real reason why they aren't in the game is that if Iwona got to know that Bhaal is back on his 'creating bhaalspawns' bullshit, she'd get so mad she'd immediately ascend as a goddess of Pissed Off Offspring and punch her father in the balls.

She’s back and she has a familiar now! Red Dragon’s Scale is a set that I consider canon for her throughout the major part of BG2.
