After being released from a mental hospital, Otto returns to his old job as a butcher. He tries to adjust to his new life, but after a bitter argument with his wife, he accidentally kills her. Fearing he will be sent back to the hospital, he grinds up her body and sells it as sausages. The popularity of his new sausage recipe necessitates that others find their way into his butcher’s display case.

In den letzten Jahren haben verschiedene Forschungen sich denjenigen Techniken und Objekten zugewandt, die bei der Formierung und (Re-)Produktion des Rechts und seiner Wissenschaften eine zwar untergeordnete, damit aber effektive Rolle spielen sollen. Die Konstellation untergeordneter Effektivität scheint mir nicht an Eigenheiten solcher Techniken und solcher Objekte zu liegen, sondern an deren Verwechselbarkeiten und Austauschbarkeiten. Man kann, wie das etwas Thomas Hensel tut, von schwachen Medien, schwachen Techniken und schwachen Objekten sprechen, nicht, weil sie weniger effektiv wären, sondern weil es nur einer kleinen Anzahl von Operationen bedarf, bis sie andere Medien, andere Techniken und andere Objekte, also auch etwas anderes als Medium, Technik und Objekt erscheinen. Ihre Effektivität ist ihrer leichten Verwechselbarkeit und Austauschbarkeit affin, sie sind insofern nur sekundär, nur und immerhin Effekte mit Effekten.

 In der deutschsprachigen Literatur steht dafür der Name von Cornelia Vismann, die in den Neunziger Jahren anhand von Akten, Medien- oder Kulturtechniken einen Zugriff auf die Geschichte und Theorie des Rechts gewagt hatte, dessen Neuartigkeit  unter anderem darin lag, Geschichte und Theorie jenseits Figuren „großer Trennung“  (Goody, Latour, Viveiros de Castro) zu entwerfen, damit auch alte und neue Zeiten, nahe und ferne Räume weiter unterscheidbar zu halten, die Distanz dieser Unterscheidung aber verkehrsfähig und verkehrbar zu halten und damit 'pendeln' (Warburg) zu lassen. Unterscheidungen, die für Rechtssysteme tragend sein sollen, wie etwa diejenigen zwischen Ostrom/ Westrom, Subjekt/ Objekt, Personen/ Dingen, Schriftlichkeit/ Mündlichkeit oder Wort/ Bild hat Vismann einer Kritik ihrer Dynamik und Details unterzogen, wie etwa in ihrer Interpretation von "Schreibstunden". Die Akte ist bei Vismann mal ein Medium (wie die notitia dignitatum), mal ein Objekt (wie die nackte Phryne), mal ein Subjekt (wie die nackte Phyrne), mal eine Handlung (wie der der Aktenakt). Akten sind korrumpierbar, sie verschlingen alles und sind allem verschlungen, lassen alles durchgehen. Vismann rekonstruiert sie insofern nicht über Generalisierungen, sondern über Details und Dynamik.

 In der französischen Literatur verbindet man den Zugriff auf solche detaillierten und dynamischen Techniken mit so unterschiedlichen Namen wie Marta Madero mit ihrer Forschung zu angepinnten Tafeln, Yan Thomas zu römischen Operationen und Bruno Latour zum conseil d'etat.

In der englischen Literatur verbindet man diese Zugriffe auf Techniken und Objekte mit Namen wie Karen Barad, Susan Leigh Star oder Donna Haraway.  Solche Zugriffe wollen wir bündeln und vertiefen, nicht aber auf ihrer Neuheit beharren. Insofern gilt unsere Tagung auch einer Archäologie der Letter und einer Archäologie minorer Objekte, die etwas lassen, indem sie gelassen sind. Wir spannen eine Bogen von der heute aktuellen situativen Ontologie zu den Situationisten und ihrem Verhältnis zu den Lettristen, weiter zu Carl Schmitts Dadaismus und noch weiter zu Rudolf von Jherings Scheide-, Digestiv-, Zersetzungs- und Zerlegungskunst sowie ihrer Destillation kleinster Zeichen und noch weiter zu Luthers Sendbriefen und weiter Passierscheinen der frühen Neuzeit. Archäologisch bauen wir eine Treppenszene auf, zum Auf- und Abstieg in entfernte Zeiten.

Owners allege their German shepherd was ‘shockingly malnourished,’ not trained properly during stay at dog training facility

A South Florida couple has a bone to pick with a dog training business after, they say, their pet was mistreated during its stay, so they took this canine clash to court. 7’s Karen Hensel investigates.

Like many dogs, 3-year-old Nyx enjoys playing fetch.

Tommy Johnson: “She always wants play, always has the ball. She’s a sweetheart.”

She is also a big German shepherd who started to bark during walks, so Tommy Johnson and his girlfriend wanted to get Nyx trained.

Tommy Johnson: “I didn’t want people to get scared or something like that.”

They signed up with Shultz K9 Enforcement here in Oakland Park enrolling Nyx in a six and a half week program for obedience, and later added service dog training. But what started with anticipation in January, ended with frustration in February.

Tommy Johnson: “It was definitely jarring. That’s the world I’d use.”

The couple supplied Nyx’s dog food.

A month into the boarding, they texted to see if the facility needed more, but they were assured “Nyx is good on food.”

Since they knew how much their dog ate, they became concerned she was not being fed enough.

Tommy Johnson: “What we realized that, you know, the math on food wasn’t adding up. We decided, ‘Hey, we need to go the next morning and get her.'”

That turned out to be easier said than done.

The day the couple arrived to pick up Nyx, they said staff would not release the dog, so they called police.

Karen Hensel: “So you had to call the police to have your own dog returned to you after paying $8,000?”

Tommy Johnson: “Yes, that’s correct.”

Inside, things got heated between the couple and business owner Fritz Monfiston, Jr., who goes by Fritz Shultz, with Nyx chained in the background barking.

Tommy Johnson: “He was like, ‘does this look like an unhealthy dog to you?'”

They were eventually allowed to take their dog.

Tommy Johnson: “Her hip bones were very able to be felt, and like all of her ribs. It was heartbreaking. Immediately we knew she had lost weight, and it was just a matter of how much.”

An immediate trip to the vet showed Nyx had lost 13 pounds, what the doctor called significant weight loss in five weeks.

Tommy Johnson: “The vet said that was deeply concerning, that’s a dangerous rate of weight lost. Yeah, we’re angry.”

Angry and now suing Shultz K9 Enforcement believing an electronic collar was used “indicating that Nyx was improperly shocked and abused” and “shockingly malnourished and dirty.”

A different trainer later evaluated Nyx, finding she “was not properly trained in even the basic obedience.”

Tommy Johnson: “It’s definitely scary. It’s frustrating.”

In a statement to 7 Investigates, the trainer’s attorney said, “Neither he nor the Shultz team would do anything to hurt any animals or their owners,” adding all dogs in their care “are properly trained and properly cared for,” and they “deny all the allegations made” by the couple.

But others have also complained about the facility.

One woman filed this complaint with the state saying she paid $2,500 and got her puppy back “totally untrained.”

Online reviews are mixed.

One calling Shultz “the best dog trainer in South Florida.” Another claiming his dog “lost 20% of his body weight.”

Police Sgt. Rafael Florencio is a dog trainer and K9 supervisor for a South Florida police department.

While he cannot comment specifically about Nyx, he says this about an otherwise healthy dog losing 13 pounds.

Sgt. Rafael Florencio: “A healthy dog should not be losing that much weight throughout training.”

Florencio said when choosing a trainer, to do your homework and remember this:

Sgt. Rafael Florencio: “When we first start day one with training, one of the biggest things that I tell my clients is, I point out the tail wag, and I say, ‘You see this dog’s tail wagging? This is what I never want to lose. I never want to lose the happiness of this dog.'”

Psycho III (1986)

Another unnecessary sequel. This time a nun who tried to commit suicide comes to stay at the motel, along with a reporter trying to figure out what happened to a woman from the last film. Norman falls in love with the nun, and the reporter finds out what happened. A handful of other people die. It’s only interesting in that it’s a movie from the mid 80s that appears to mimic movies from the 60s in filming style and lighting. It’s a bad movie.

Rating: F. Baaaaaaad movie.

Karen Hensel Accepting the 2006 Peabody Award for “Command Mistake”

IED, a military acronym for Improvised Explosive Device, sadly has entered the American vernacular during the war in Iraq. Many soldiers have suffered fatal or debilitating injuries from such weapons. Through dogged research, the Command Mistake team discovered startling evidence suggesting that a high school football helmet is usually better equipped to protect against brain injury than a soldier’s helmet. The continuing investigation then shifted to determining why protective padding was not required in all military helmets, an inquiry that took the local news team to Washington, D.C., Germany and Iraq in search of answers.

Recipe for Success: South Florida mom, daughter open flan business while raising awareness for autism (WSVN) – It is one of South Florida’s most popular desserts, and now, it is providing a sweet business opportunity for some families with special needs. The Nightteam’s Karen Hensel shares their recipe for success in this special assignment report. This South Florida teen is learning more than just how to cook in this commercial kitchen. Rachel Salinas, daughter: “I’ve never done anything like this at all in my life.” Rachel Salinas, 19, has autism, but it has never stopped her from running a business with her mother Mara. They came up with a sweet idea to make and sell their favorite dessert. Rachel Salinas: “Flan is like a nice custard. It’s creamy. It’s soft, and it’s very amazing to try.” Creating a flan business was always a dream Mara wanted to pursue, but everything had to take a back seat after Rachel was diagnosed with autism. She enrolled Rachel in a special school for children with developmental disorders, and it changed her daughter’s life. Rachel Salinas: “I have been more independent. I’ve been learning new skills I haven’t learned before. I’m communicating with other people.” One of the skills Rachel loved learning was cooking. Her mother noticed it, too. Mara Salinas, mother: “She had blossomed into this amazing young adult, and I said, ‘I need to put these skills to use.’” And that’s when they came up with the idea for Flantasia Flan. We visited their kitchen to see the magic happen. Mara Salinas: “The ingredients are milk, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla. All right, so start with your sugar…” This mother and daughter team has been showing us how they put their special touches on their flan, but it has one special ingredient that you won’t find anywhere else. Mara Salinas: “A lot of love, actually! I want to say a tad, but no, it’s a lot.” The eight different flavors of flan are baked, then cooled and packaged. With Rachel at the register, the team sells at community events. They also operate a booth at the Palmetto Farmer’s Market every weekend. When Mara saw the demand for their flan growing, she decided to hire extra employees. She says the perfect place to find them was her daughter’s school. Mara Salinas: “Some love to bake, and some love to handle money, and some love to sell, and you just have to find the right thing for them to do. In a couple of weeks, they just picked it up and they’re on point!” The weekend booths also provide an opportunity for the team to spread awareness about autism. Ariana Montesinos, employee: “This is important to me because I feel like people who have autism can go out and actually do things like anybody else.” Back in the kitchen, Mara and Rachel can whip up nearly 100 orders of flan a week. Mara Salinas: “All right, so we’re going to make three coconut.” But, they hope to one day expand and hire more employees. Mara Salinas: “My dream is to have a storefront, where I can have my own kitchen and have them all working.” They hope their recipe for success helps more young adults with autism develop life skills and enjoy some of the sweeter things in life. Nova diretoria tomou posse na segunda-feira,07  Carlos Barbosa- A noite de segunda-feira, 7, marcou a transição da gestão de Fabiano Paloschi Ferrari, há 6 anos à frente da Associação do Comércio Indústria e Serviços de Carlos Barbosa, ACI, para as mãos da presidente eleita por aclamação em dezembro de 2018, Marisa Kaspary Zanatta, que exercerá a gestão durante o biênio de 2019 – 2020. Entre agradecimentos, desafios e perspectivas, a noite contou com ampla adesão de associados e membros da entidade. Também assumiram as lideranças da Câmara de Dirigentes Lojistas de Carlos Barbosa (CDL) e da Associação de Cultura e Turismo de Carlos Barbosa – ACTCB. Com uma trajetória dentro da entidade que inclui o cargo de vice-presidente da indústria na última gestão, e estando à frente dos principais eventos da ACI, como a Expo Carlos Barbosa e a Multifeira, Marisa Kaspary Zanatta tem sua maneira de liderança bem conhecida pelos membros da associação. O principal foco da gestão, segundo a nova presidente, será fomentar a economia e estimular o associado pelas mais diversas vertentes. “Estamos com 751 associados, um Parque próprio, conquista da gestão anterior. Agora, é hora de fomentar a questão das feiras, dos eventos e movimentar a economia através do fortalecimento do associado. Vamos trabalhar com qualificação profissional, mostrar que o conhecimento é importante e buscar um fortalecimento ainda maior de nosso associado em todos os segmentos”, pontuou a presidente eleita.

PERSPECTIVAS Em seu discurso de posse, Marisa foi clara nas inovações, especialmente no que diz respeito a abranger novas áreas. Foi enfática ao afirmar a importância de novas gerações presentes na composição da diretoria do biênio 2019 – 2020. “Temos que aprender com os jovens, estimular. É preciso ter orgulho do povo trabalhador que somos e transmitir isso também”. Para a nova gestão, estão previstos projetos com foco nas mulheres, nos jovens empreendedores, nas zonas rurais de Carlos Barbosa e também na valorização da história empreendedora do município, focando em empresas de todos os portes. Para os eventos já promovidos e consolidados da entidade, Marisa ressalta a questão da Multifeira, criada em 2017 e que reuniu as feiras do Bem-estar; FeiraTec, Feira de Oportunidades de Negócios; Expo Moda e La Birra Fest. “Vamos fazer da Multifeira a maior feira de serviços da região. Grande parte de nossos associados são desse setor e precisam estar bem representados”, pontuou. A nova gestão da Associação do Comércio, Indústria e Serviços de Carlos Barbosa, assume uma entidade com R$ 12 milhões de patrimônio – entre sede e Parque de Eventos Guido Pasqual Sganderlla, cujo pagamento foi encerrado em dezembro de 2018. DESPEDIDA Com palavras leves e sobretudo de agradecimento, Fabiano Paloschi Ferrari se despede dos oito anos fazendo parte da ACI, sendo dois como vice-presidente e seis ocupando o principal cargo da entidade. “É difícil falar de um legado, porque seis anos é um tempo considerável. CDL Marisa Versteg Dalmás é a sucessora de Adriana Zago, que presidiu a Câmara de Dirigentes Lojistas de Carlos Barbosa na gestão anterior. Em um discurso breve e com apresentação da diretoria, Marisa enfatizou a importância da adesão do comércio em campanhas promovidas pela CDL. “Juntos, vamos fazer com que as pessoas tenham orgulho de comprar em Carlos Barbosa. Agradeço à equipe que aceitou esse desafio comigo e tenho certeza de que iremos fazer um belo trabalho.
