Jan 28, 2023 - Huxley’s Neue Welt (Berlin)

My goodness, I never thought I'd live to see this show. It got postponed a couple times due to the pandemic, and even starting January I did not feel confident it would happen. Pavlov reflex? Who knows. 

But after two years of waiting, a new day finally came.

The Ocean (Collective) was a decent opener, although I don't remember too much of it. Karnivool came out shortly after and opened with C.O.T.E, followed by a newer one, All It Takes. Soon enough, the bangers like Goliath, Simple Boy, and All I Know got their turn (you could say that I’m a huge fan of Sound Awake). Ian somehow has a bit of that devops engineer presence on stage, but in general was talkative and teamed up great with the rest of the band.

The band sounded superbly good, and looked like they are enjoying themselves, noodling through the more complex proggy passages in songs like Goliath or Change. Ian played acoustic guitar on some songs. They ended the show with New Day, of course, which made me very happy to hear.

Overall, it was a blast and worth the wait. Even the crowd was not so bad.

Rating: 11/10, give us some more new material, guys!

P.S. My Aussie friend M seemed to have gone fishing with Ian’s brother at some point in the past. They never caught anything, so I’m told.
