HONG HAEIN: But… let's say a lot of time passed, and you died. Then I'll become an angel and pick you up. If I show up, it'll be less scary for you.
BAEK HYUNWOO: If you die before I do, I'm going to live one more day and then follow you. How will I ever live without you?
We forgave those we used to resent. We can sometimes stop and appreciate the scenery. Then time will gradually being to flow more quickly. Time will slip away, and we won't be able to do anything about it. That's how we'll spend every day of our lives. We'll enjoy all the happiness that life grants us. One day… when only one of us is left… The other one can come meet them. Then it won't be scary at all. Because we'll be together.

the look in hae in's eyes when hyun woo comes to help her with the copy machine, the confusion mixed with intrigue and admiration,
the look in hae in's eyes when she sees hyun woo at the bus stand and then in the bus from her car during that one epilogue, the sheer adoration and love reflected in them, the textbook epitome of "heart eyes",
the look in hae in's eyes every time hyun woo mentions how he has 36 cows and a lot of land and a brand new apartment and just enough to provide for her so that she never has to work again in her life, the disbelief that he'd think she is that dependent, the disbelief that a person could readily love another person so grandly,
the look in hae in's eyes when hyun woo moves to the nursery after the miscarriage, the hurt fighting to burst through as tears and the anger stuck in her throat as she thinks that he blames her for the miscarriage, the break in her heart and the first flash of hopelessness between their breaths,
the look in hae in's eyes every time they pass each other at the department store, the way she looks at hyun woo like she never wants to look away, the yearning in her eyes that make her fingers twinge with the dire need to reach out to him,
the look in hae in's eyes when she discovers the divorce papers, the raw pain that wants to be comforted by hyun woo, the pang of betrayal that would go away if he just says that she is mistaken, the gasps that her heart takes because it can't just beat anymore after discovering that the one person she trusted and loved to no bounds could do this to her, but also the slight understanding that hyun woo has also been suffering from the countless instances of miscommunication between them and that he doesn't deserve to be stuck in such a relationship
the look in hae in's eyes when she sees hyun woo at the prison in episode 15, the familiarity and the comfort of home, the difficulty in breathing from seeing the love of her life and being unaware of it, the torment from hurting him although she doesn't understand it,
the look in hae in's eyes when in the last episode, she comes to hyun woo as his beautiful angel to take him to their forever happiness, the knowing that they have made it, that they deserve each other despite all obstructions, that not even death could do them apart, the warmth of falling asleep on a hard day's night, the relief of drinking water in the middle of the night, the contentment of being able to love and being able to be loved in peace at last.

I'm here in my agony to say that discussion between Haein and Hyunwoo after he moved his stuff into the nursery will kill me with how painful it is.
They're both in so much pain it's visible there but they're unable to talk to each other about it.
'How could you move your stuff without telling me?' She's so hurt. Her tone is accusatory. She's hurt that she just emptied her unborn child's nursery and her husband decides to move away from her as well.
'You never told me you were emptying this room either.' He's pained that they've lost a much awaited child and she didn't bother consulting him before removing everything. He didn't get his closure. He's angry and upset and so hurt but he doesn't know that he needs to get through a very strongly wrought shield around her heart to have her acknowledge his pain.
'What are you getting at? Are you blaming me for the miscarriage?'
I never imagined Haein would think Hyunwoo would want to blame her. I want to cry that in her grief she failed to have enough faith in him and his love. She's hurt by his decision to move out so she takes it out on him. She's a classical study of saying something to completely annihilate the other when you're the one who's hurt.
Also, (this pained me more than anything) notice the extreme softness and absence of anger in his voice as he responds to her.
'What are you saying? I never thought that way.'
His anger and pain seeps back in when he confesses to her, 'I'm just as sad as you -'
'Don't lie. I know you want to say that it's my fault!' I wanted to yell at her to stop. I'm so sad that she let her past trauma catch up. Is that all she's thought about since she got the news of the miscarriage? That Hyunwoo would blame her? Her fears, her pain, her assumptions they all won. And they played a part in driving them apart.
'Forget it. I can't talk any sense into you.'
I think this is the most realistic line I've heard in a Kdrama. Because people do tend to in their anger and pain just give up. Hyunwoo couldn't deal with her accusing him of something he never did, he couldn't deal with her inability to listen and acknowledge his pain as well. So he walked away - it was just simpler, easier to do.
It's also reminding me of how he told her that if they lived in a closed space they would have been forced to confront each other. They were bound to hear the other cry and console the other then. When I think about the absolutely painful, lonely, cold two years that followed this, it makes me so sad.
I didn't know a minute long scene could send me in a spiral of sadness. As sad as a miscarriage is I've had immense clarity that it never implied that they could never have children. Not to dismiss their pain it's all very valid, but if they worked towards getting closure sooner they could have been so much stronger and probably could have had a child sooner. It makes me sad how the pain rendered them incapable to mend and work towards their relationship.

I'll be waiting for you...
Okay, it was a happy ending. The ending was truly bittersweet. It was a full cycle of life—how they met, how they fall for each other, how they fell apart, and how they fall in love again as if it was the first time. And everything that happened in between their happy ending is for Hyun Woo and Hae In to keep.
This drama made me realize that life, as we know it, isn't always perfect. We can be with the love of our life, but still face heartbreak. And we never know when life will end. We never know how long you'll stay with the love of your life but that's the thing—we never know how long it'll last.
So we have to treasure every bits of it. Treasure every single moment as if it'll be your last.

They say happy endings are just endings that hasn't end yet. Because life is a tragedy waiting to happen. And maybe, Hyun Woo was lonely when Hae In was the first one to go, but we saw him patiently waiting, waiting, until his time comes that he'll meet her again.
Frankly, I wouldn't want the ending any other way (it hurts a bit yes, but still). It was the writer's way of showing us how love can last and what devotion really looks like.
The other half of the drama always brought me to tears—which makes so much sense because of its title.
The cast was stellar, the acting, the villains, the back story—it was insanely good. Probably one of the best drama of the year.

SO… I HAD A SUDDEN DUMB REALIZATION
I must confess, while I was watching this whole “memory lost” plot I felt it was a rlly weird writing choice, like (what the heck? So cliché) but then when I watched this scene I understood it all, it wasn’t Hae In the one that forgot about the love she felt for Baek Hyun Woo, (even when she was ill) he was the one that forgot how to take care of the relationship, the marriage.
Of course she did as well, they both are at fault, but it was amazing to see this journey, and even with all the subplots, plot twists, ups and downs, the conflict of the story is getting lost along the way, not remembering how much you loved your significant other and why you got married in the first place, that marriage takes effort.

I totally forgot about the cutest thing ever. Episode 15 literally gave us crumbs and made us forget about them with all the unnecessary stuff going on.
Hyunwoo noticed how uncomfortable heels must've been for Haein during her intership, days after meeting her. She told him they indeed were. And this sunshine man, always remembered.
That escalator scene means so much more now. Can you imagine him just thinking about all the times heels had been uncomfortable for her. And mind you this is in his 'faking it' era. Also the Germany scene, good god this man. Are you telling me in the happily married era of their lives Hyunwoo always took care that she was comfortable in her footwear? (As much as he could of course cause the girl loves her heels)
Also Haein's happiness after receiving the white sale shoes makes so much more sense. It wasn't a random act. It was Haein experiencing the continuation of his purest, sweetest act of love for her. I imagine she missed his thoughtfulness over the past two years, especially after particularly long days.
